Have been a regular at this place for many years but the quality has diminshed over the last few months. The sweet pastries, bread and cakes all look nice and quality is still good; the hot pastries can be hit-and-miss, both meat pie, sausage roll and German hotdog have a strange taste at times (don't want to say here what it tasted like). Must say that I did pick up a beesting cake recently and it was delicious. A good place to get some authentic German bakery goods but this place just doesn't attract me to go there that often anymore and isn't the way it used to be.

Ordered a slice of “Death by Chocolate”. Can’t say it was the best one I have had but definitely up there as a decent option.

The cake was absolutely magnificent !! The flavour and taste was so amazing. All the guests enjoyed the flavour of the cake and asked where we got the cake from. The team, especially, Rae, helped organise the cake for our event. I would highly recommend using King of Cakes for any functions.

Fantastic bakery with an amazing range of products. Pies are hot and the pastry crisp. The sweets selections include fresh made (daily) donuts, cakes, slices, and etc. The coffee is great, cannot recommend enough!

Birthday cake I have ordered (caramel) was delish and everyone loved it (5 stars)!!! Also bought some end of the day bread and brezels (1 star). Despite the 30% price reduction I had to bin the brezels as they were hard and stail. The bread tasted like it was a few days old. Quite disappointing.

Just dicovered this local shop from children's parenet at school. Authentic european bakery. Butter Croissant is very nice like the one I had in Paris. It will be my stop for the Croissant ☺. BYO coffee cup is no problem with 12oz cup flat white well served.

My review is about my experience there on 17 July and the safety of customers in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. I checked in to the Taringa store on 17 July. The person ahead of me to be served did not wear a mask whilst it is compulsory to do so. An elderly gentleman standing in the back corner shop, obviously concerned about the risk, said to the male person: “do you realise that you are putting all of us at risk?” to which he responded “I hear your concern but do not share it” I intervened at that point and politely said to the person that he should wear a mask, but he refused. I emailed a query to King of Cakes and subsequently received a call where I was informed that it is being taken seriously and that procedures are being tightened. Thank you for doing this.

I had a sweet cheese Danish - after I moved to Australia from Germany 12 years ago, this was the first one that tasted like home (well, from a really good German Bakery). Will for sure come for more when I am back in town. The Brezn are good too! Danke.

Very nice place, cakes are always fresh. I like their blackforest (scharwzwald) in particular; reminds me of Badish bakeries. Mainly locals shop there. On the flip side, it keeps changing staff. Most of them are really nice young people though.

Easy online ordering. I recently ordered a large mud cake with all the trimmings for a 50th Birthday and it was everything I expected. They do a fantastic job. I was even told by guests it was the best cake they have ever had.

It was a quick visit as we didn’t know about any other bakery in the area and we were happy we went. We ordered a bretzel and a sourdough. The bretzel I have to say is one of the best things I have ever tasted. It was crispy and chewy on the outside but tender and savory on the inside. And it was a fairly big one so one would be enough for two people. They also have a big range of baked goods and we will def go back to try more stuff.

I really love this place. Tina is the manager and she is the most wonderful person,so genuine and fastidious about quality control. The entire range of baked items are the best in Brisbane and the service matches them. Really love and respect this outstanding bakery. Bless you Tina.

I love this bakery, however I went in today and something’s not right. Has the baker changed recently? Their signature items such as the cakes were sunken in the middle, the croissants tiny and dense looking, the pie pastry had soggy bottoms, and the vanilla slice icing translucent. I’ll be back to check and report in a few weeks to see if this was an anomaly, I really hope this great bakery hasn’t lost it’s way.

While the pastries and other baked goods are quite good, I won't get coffee here. I have had coffee burnt, too bitter and a combination of the two at various times. You guys might need some training at the espresso machine to win me back...

As they advertise, this is a German bakery with a wide range of sweets and savouries. One of drawbacks is that they don't provide a big variety of drinks, but it's still a good and quite place to have a breakfast. Having been visiting the place for more than 3 years, so far so good.

Very impressed with the range in this little bakery tucked away in the "corner shops" at the edge of St Lucia. The ladies were very friendly, even after I walked in as they were getting ready to close up shop. They waited patiently as I scoured the last of the day's treats to find what I was after. I bought the black forest cake slice, strawberry brulee cake and two dairy free cupcakes. Simply devine, they were all very big hits. I only wish I'd known about this place earlier, but I'll definitely be back

I mistakenly got given a black forest cake instead of the hazelnut chocolate one I ordered. It wasn't necessarily bad but there was a mega chunk of cherries in the middle part of the cake which made that part of it overwhelming and just unpalatable. The store in general seems quite nice and the rest of the food looked really pretty good. The lady who served me seemed frustrated and annoyed when I asked her to tell me what the cakes in the cabernet were, but as they are unmarked in that particular section I didn't really want to guess. A bit disappointing based on the other reviews for here, but maybe I just went on a bad day.
