Great little find. Can highly recommend. It was very popular when we stumbled upon it. Delicious bacon and egg roll. The best healthy variety sandwiches I've seen in a small town, and generous portions. I'm rarely tempted by the cakes but I was there.

Cann River Bakery Visited on 10/3/2021 One of my travelling companions suggested that I should try the pies sold in this bakery, and so I choose this instead of the others in town. The bakery is clean, and has a few tables for dine-in customers. It sells jams and honey in addition to bakery products, such as pies, rolls, vanilla slices, etc. More than half the shelves of the pie display unit is empty, and that limits my choice. There are still plenty of rolls and sandwiches in other display units. I overhear someone asks whether he can have a different variety of pie other than what are in the unit, a staff just replies what on display are what they have. After hearing that, I also have no alternative but to order a pie with fairly darkened pie top. I join my friends who sit at a table near the entrance, sipping their coffee. Unlike me, they are waiting for their pies they have ordered from a man who probably is the baker. He ordered a pie NOT from the display unit. The pie top is flaky pastry that I like. However, some part of the top is split from the edge of the pie case. This may contribute to excessive loss of moisture causing the top to collapse. Closer examination of the photograph of the beef pies in the units does show that most tops are separated from the edge of the case. I use my friend's coffee stirrer to cut my pie into halves. My pie is not hot, which does not score well for me. The case is firm enough to hold the filling. The consistency of the beef and gravy mixture is just right, neither too runny nor too thick. I am not sure whether my taste buds are getting more sensitive, I think the pie I have can do with a bit less salt.

STOP HERE!! Great bakery in a little country town? The steak and mushroom pie was amazing, real steak in it and so tasty. The sausage roll the kids had was huge and also got a big thumbs up. The coffee quality was some thing you would expect in a expensive Melbourne cafe. Seating inside and out, very reasonably priced. Well done to all the staff!

Great place to stop if you are passing through. I stopped on my way back to Melbourne and was glad I did. Tracey made me a coffee and together with a fresh coffee scroll with butter I enjoyed both of these and got to the bottom of my coffee and was looking for more. I went there on Monday afternoon with my Dad and I had a Vanilla Milkshake to drink and my Dad had a Skinny Cappuccino. We both shared an Apple Turnover, which was delicious. Also my Dad went there this yesterday afternoon and he had a Sausage Roll and another Skinny Cappuccino. The staff were kind to us and the service was excellent.

Cann River! The last stop before a lot more driving, in whichever way you’re travelling! Time to refresh, refuel before heading on. Probably the easiest place to stop at too! This bakery is well appointed, clean and roomy. Food, drinks all reasonably priced too. For me, the only downside was if you’re taking the time to sit down to eat and drink in a café/bakery beverages should be served in cups and mugs - not take away cups. More landfill!

What a refreshing experience. This is the best bakery in Gippsland and is tucked away at Can River . Can River is a small town close to the NSW border on the pacific highway. If you pass Can River without stopping at Can River Bakery for a coffee or a pie or pasties or local honey you have missed one if the best food experiences on the pacific highway experience. Plenty of parking and bike riders are always warmly welcome

Had a nice chat with "Bro" and picked up some yummy bakery items as well. Then an hour and a half down the highway, my daughter realises she left her iPhone at the skatepark across the street. She was inconsolable as she had purchased the phone with her own money. Anyway, called the neighbouring Community Center but they were closed. Through tears, my daughter asked what about that nice girl at the bakery? Called just as they were closing shop, and she agreed to run across the road and retrieve the phone. Posted it back to us the next day. Good bread for the tummy, and a great memory of human kindness, and excellent service. Thank you, thank you - Bro & Cann River Bakery! I do now regret that we didn't pick up some of those little cakes with the icing . . . hmmm, next time we are passing through?
