Comments of Le Peche Gourmand

An incredibly beautiful patisserie and worthy of a drive to Creswick just to experience it.
We've been visiting for a few years now and it's always a wow, as you can see from our pics.
Just exquisite and so worth a visit
S. T.
Such a fantastic place, have been stopping by on holidays for a while now. They have great baguettes and pastries that I highly recommend.
The service is also brilliant, last two times we have been served by Beau who is lovely and incredibly helpful!
M. G.
I absolutely loved this place, not much in the way of gluten free but the macarons were great. My husband loved it as well. You can walk past this place and not know that you are here as there isn’t any signage unless you are across the road.

This exquisite local French bakery has coffee and cakes to die for. The coffee was excellent and we shared a Gland Choux pastry which has grand marnier flavoured custard filling. What a treasure of a place in a small country town. Worth going to Creswick just for this cafe.

Where do I begin... to say that their pastries are WOW is a complete understatement. I would give six stars if I could. I would go there early in the morning (most morning and not thinking about my waist line), grab all kind of pastries to take away, go back to my car and start eating one before driving home. Is it that good, yes it is! In fact, it is a great start in the morning.
My favourite is the chocolatine. They cost $8 from memory but they are pretty decent size, made from superior quality of ingredients (they all are). Other than that the price for the pastry range between $5 to $7. Chocolate croissant is my kid's favourite, not too sweet, not too much chocolate, perfect start for the morning. You cannot beat the puff pastry of the pear/ nectarine danish. I ordered it especially to have the crunchy layer by layer of the pastry. Raspberry macaroon was sold out (twice) when I went there at around 12 pm. I am not a big fan of macaroon but I would say their macaroon is a must try, yes I love it! It costs $4 per macaroon but I suggest for people to try it. The macaroon has a life instead of being flat.
There are many more to mention here I have tried nearly everything. Sometimes I would go to the cake section whilst waiting for the staff to prepare my pastry, but was too scared to order more cakes in addition to all the pastries I ordered. My favourite is the royal cake. They taste better than those you bought from places like St Laurent or Brunetti. I also like the Religiuse, pistachio and dark chocolate are my favourites.
I also like their Ciabatta, great to have with ham, cheese, and other deli products you prefer. Their other bread products is also great for bruschetta.
In regards to the staff being rude or unfriendly, my own experience is quite the opposite. I do not expect them to be so over welcoming as they are really busy with meeting the demand of the customers. But they have always been polite and make extra effort to notice me and made me feel welcome. There are times I placed my order at the last minute, and they still do their best to deliver the result. If I have to wait, I do not complain as I can see they are really trying their best. I have also made mistake requesting something I did not order, it was solved with no dramas. I have made alterations to my order which the owner was quite happy and accommodating to confirm that I get what I order. I guess the key is to communicate and to have the mutual understanding. Sound a bit like a relationship? Sure it is. This is a local business I would like to see thriving in the community.

Really nice French treats and a good range to choose from. I was surprised by the location, Le Peche Gourmand seems like it belongs in a trendy Melbourne suburb.
G. L.
Absolutely incredible. Service was fantastic, and the pastry i had was to die for. Will be back next time I travel through.
S. R.
What a lovely place, great service, food and drinks. We’ve been back 3 times now, love the new venue!
C. P.
The freshest and most delicious baked goods I’ve ever had! We ordered a ham & cheese toastie and baguette, and it tasted exactly as if it were made in France. Couldn’t pass on the sweets - macaroon, vanilla slice and Madeleine. A must visit cafe if you’re visiting Ballarat
N. M.
Busy french bakery. Loved the Canele and superb croissant aux fruits(quince). Coffee hit the spot too.
R. A.
I love this place. The food is amazing. Such a gem in regional Victoria. Easily the best in the Country. Perfectly executed baked goods. Awesome sandwiches and a great Coffee.
I manage hereditary diabetes risk through a strict diet and that means I rarely eat sugar or white bread. It's a joy to have this close to home for the occasional indulgence. I literally remind myself that keeping things in balance means I can have the great things from Le Peche Gourmand occasionally without any problem or concern. Plus, anything that makes you as happy as eating the goods from here is without question good for you!
A Victorian gem we are lucky to have in the region!

I ordered a take away baguette today $10.50 on the sign, and asked them to cut it in half. I was served by a mature lady. When I went to pay for it I was told by the cost was $11.50, I queried the cost she replied that’s because I had it cut it was the service charge, and the baguette is meant to be eaten in one piece.
I’m just saying! Was this rude? Should she have informed me it would be a dollar to cut in half?
The baguette was wonderful but service ! Never crossed a charge for the likes of this in my life.
S. T.
Great job guys! I enjoyed my coffee and pear danish this afternoon. Without wanting to be too wanky.. as a barista travelling from Melbourne I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of coffee. This place is obviously a pastry shop, but it’s also got the best coffee in Creswick.
A. M.
Amazing French patisserie. Worth a drive to for that amazing French country village experience.
C. A. (.
Great spot for lunch. Devine pastries !
B. M.
Nice coffee.. fresh croissants... As good as it gets.
C.
Me and my family have been going to this place for years on the weekly and never a single complaint if you love food then this is a authentic French Cafe i recommended tell all your friends and family this place is for everyone! the price is exactly what you get real chocolate, real butter and the years in experience learning to make this food perfect!
B. P.
Amazing selection of French pastries, good quality baked goods with a quaint quintessential French vibe. Coffee is quite average though but overall hits the spot!
S. C.
Lovely little bakery in the heart of town. Strongly recommend their desserts and coffees, delicious!
G. M.
This is world class establishment in the small country town of Creswick. Service is brisk and attentive. I can recommend the pumpkin and feta baguette and the pain au raison is one of the best I have eaten anywhere, including France.
M. D.
Great variety of sweets, one of the best batch of macorons I've ever seen. Nice baguettes and good coffee. Can't go wrong spending the day in Creswick.
D. H.
Fantastic place, authentic French pastries and light lunch. Foodies heaven. Quality 10 out of 10.
S. B.

M. W.
Amazing selection of pastries and breads, everything is really fresh and yummy. Great coffee too.
A. B. R.
Truly French pastries and the best eclair of chocolate in Oz.
A. N.
The chocolate eclair was fantastic was well balanced, had a slight bitterness and just enough to balance the sweetness. Highly recommended to swing on in if your going through Creswick and close enough to travel there.
J. J.
Best croissants I’ve ever had! Highly recommended. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Warm cafe in a convenient location.
J. M.
The best patties in the region. The coffee is very good too. The renovation really improved the place. At the moment you cannot sit here because of stage 3 restrictions.
M. P.
Beautiful French pastries and excellent coffee. Just got some takeaways, but this place knows it’s stuff.
B. A.
Perfect coffee & croissant & freindly staff. Must go.
You can plan to have breakfast there, there are lots of sandwiches.
A. P.
Friendly service and delicious food. We will be back.
S. B.
Oh this place is just the best! If you want European breads and filled rolls; and Continental pastries and biscuits, this is the craft at its best. You'll love what they do, and your palette will savour the taste long after. To top it off, the coffee is good too! When the lockdown ends, I will resume using this cafe for meetings.
H.
Delicious food and excellent coffee. The staff were friendly and quick in service.
P. H.
Amazing coffee, great food, nice to sit outside and watch the world go by.

G. A.

D. B.

R. D.
Fabulous little French cafe. Delicious pastries and panini and great coffee.
C. P.
Yummy french pastries and coffee. Highly recommended
M. P.
The Canele is the best cake I have ever had.
This place is so popular, they had to move to a bigger space.
We are so fortunate to have access to a French owned patisserie close by. For those not close by, this is worth the journey, or 15min detour off the Western Highway.
A. D.
Everything is amazing here. Particularly the eclairs and baguettes soooooo good. 🥖
B. S.
I had a coffee and a Danish they were perfect I can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu

J. S.
Delicious french cakes and rolls, nice place for coffee and almond croissant.
T. B.
Fabulous is the only word. I am constantly going out of my way just for a croque monsieur, a coffee and an eclair. None better in the country.
M. C.
The best macaroons this side of Paris, highly recommend you give them a try. Their other breads and patisseries are too good. If you are driving through Creswick grab some coffee and cake you won't be disappointed. I make it a point of getting the macaroons, such a treat people🤗
W. C.
This place is awesome. But folks, please update your opening times.
J. G.
Great food. Good staff
N. J.
Lovely coffee and snaks and french Sweet's
K. S.
Staff are pleasant enough and the cakes look nice. However, they do not cater for any milk intolerances (no lactose free, no almond, no oat), so I will not be returning.
D. D.
There is a reason people drive over an hour to this quaint little country town for a croissant. You'll have to walk the town afterwards though as one croissant always turns into 3. Don't be stingy. Get the butter and jam!!
L. C.
Great bakery. Amazing cakes and bread.
C. M.
If it's not the best patisserie in the country, I don't care, it is outstanding. No bells and whistles here, they could serve you from a tent and you wouldn't care once you taste what you selected. Outstanding
C.
Love that Mille Feuille, crispy caramelized pastry layers. Mouth watering just thinking about it.
D. A.
These are the best french pastries and croissants I have ever tasted outside France. Definitely worth a visit.
G. M.
Always a wonderful display of cakes and macaroons, well done Paul & Marie.I sense the flashing ceiling lights indicate the launch of new an exciting range of the” Electric Macaroon.”Wow can’t wait.
C. P.
The roast meals are fabulous, generous and reasonable with their prices. Sm, Med, Large
The place is clean and comfortable and the staff very attentive..10/10
G. L.
Very good coffee. Sweet treats as well
N.
Flaky crisp croissants, strong full bodied flat white coffee, salted caramel and violet cream macarons better than I've tasted anywhere.

M. B.
OMG I ordered a croquembouche from Le Peche for my husbands 40th and what a treat it was! So delicious with hints of orange in the toffee and it didn't last long at all between 40 of us.
Great local business that was a pleasure to deal with!
Thank you!
G. D.
Beautiful authentic French (Parisien) food. Cordon bleu.
D. R.
Best, probably only, third wave coffee in town
J. D.
Amazing pastries, eclair was a highlight!!
I would live off them alone
J. S.
great coffee and cakes
M. W. G.
Lovely pastries but very unwelcoming and appalling service by the blonde girl with pony tail behind the counter. We took away some pastries and macaroons and I asked if she could put the pastries in separate bags so that my children could have it on the go. Not only she intentionally showed a face and ignored me, she shove both pastries into a tiny paper bag crushing the Danish. No thank you, no greeting. Really rude. So yes, despite such nice pastries, the service was a complete turn-off and soured the experience for us.
M. H.
Five stars. Best patisserie in the state.
G. L.
Top class pastries.
D. S.
Although we were driving though, my partner had done his homework and wanted to visit this cafe, so we made the time to stop and soak up a small piece of Creswick.
Located in the centre of town with a beautiful shady oak tree out the front and old style shopfront, we ordered our coffee in our Frank Green reuseable cups along with a pear and frangipane almondine tart. The staff were more than happy to fill our reuseable cups and when we refused any packaging or napkins for the tart (we are trying to be as mindful of rubbish as possible) it was fine, unlike some cafes that look at us oddly.
So we sat outside and watched the world go by and pondered what a nice lifestyle it would be to live in Creswick.
Le Peche Gourmand raises the bar in patisseries in town and I can see why it’s so popular. With so many other cafes nearby, this is a standout and would highly recommend.
Toilets are available. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly fly. Good parking out the front.
A. K.
