I would say that personally, I really like the texture of this cake shop. It's all so soft and smooth. Usually a cake shop with beautiful exterior. Most of them are not very tasty, but not at all. This restaurant is delicious. The taste is slightly sweet. There is a taste of sour fruit to cut a bit. Highly recommend
M. C.
Such a lovely lovely cake shop! Many selections to choose from, and we settled on the Black Forest and Lychee Blush. They were both delicious and not too sweet. I could taste real lychee fruit too! Will definitely be going back to try out their other cakes!
Customer service is wonderful, and the cakes are also securely packed for takeaway. Thank you for the lovely experience ❤️

Best CNY exclusive cake with pineapple flavor, WOW~~~soooo tasty and such a surprise for friend's birthday today.
BIG thank you to you all!!!!

This is a hidden little gem with some very delicious cakes. I love to come here for a nice cup of tea and a beautiful looking and deliciously tasting cake. A little moment of bliss.
J. Z.
Highly recommend the hazelnut millefeuille!! It had so many textures: a crunchy biscuit base, firm chocolate and creamy mousse. I couldn't get enough.
The Monsieur green tea had very light and refreshing green tea mousse.
F. C.
Been loving this place ever since discovering them in 2016! Their Hazelnut Mille Feuille is absolutely divine.
They had a special mini cake on the day, I didn't catch the name but there was chocolate and hazelnut, it was so amazing!
The staff are always warm and friendly, and the seating area is well-maintained.
C. M.
The wife loves all types of desserts, and she was delighted by the food here. The service was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would recommend if you are ever in the area

Arrived at 2pm hence not many choices left. Had the mango chocolate brownie after studying the reviews, the base was crunchy and while it was good, it wasn't amazing like I thought it would. Might pop in earlier next time to see what others are there.
Ps. The tasting platter is only $34 but need to order in advance.

Used to frequent this place when I was living in Melbourne so on a recent weekend to Melbourne had to swing past to see what new desserts they had. Cute little dessert store with small cakes so pretty you don't really want to eat them. After much deliberation I chose the Yuzu Exotic and the Brownie Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau. Got these takeaway to bring back to the hotel to enjoy there. Both were delightful. The Yuzu Exotic was quite refreshing - quite light on with the yuzu so not as citrus as I expected as the mango cream comes through. Surprisingly light yet flavoursome so meant there was still room to have some of the Brownie Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau. This was definitely my favourite of the 2. The brownie part of the cake was so yum especially with the crispy praline on top of it. The cake had great textures - brownie at the bottom then the thin crispy praline with passionfuit and mousse layers on top makes for a delicious combination. Glad these are small as they're so moreish I would demolish it all! Le Petit Gateau - you didn't disappoint! I just wish you could open up a store in Sydney :)
M. C.
I am glad this cake shop did not close down due to Covid! The left is Yuzu coconut mouse and the right is passion fruit chocolate brownie. Flavours are amazing, especially the brownie, the passion curd and jelly balances out the brownie very well.

The photo speaks for itself. This place is incredible - I highly recommend it. Pictured is a dessert tasting box, which was great to try the different cakes they had. Can’t wait to come back!

Hands down, one of the most exceptional cakes I've ever had! No wonder it's known as one of the best cake shops in the city. Despite of it being a little pricey, it was worth it given the quality of the cake I had.
Finally got a chance to try their signature Brownie Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau! It had this crispy chocolate layer on the top along with refreshing passionfruit and thick chocolate mousse layers which gave off this silky smooth rich flavour - perfect amount of sweetness with a hint of acidity from passionfruint. It's also has this thick layer of chocolate glaze on top to give that additional chocolate kick. Overall, it was a beautiful masterpiece :) Can't wait to visit again to try their other cakes - heard their lemon tart is also popular!
F. G.
One of my favorite cakeshop in Melbourne. The cakes were pretty and the layers were perfect. The options are always interesting. My wife favorite is the brownie cake, with passionfruit on top. I love the hazelnut cake. Flavor pretty distinctive but balanced throughout. World class pastry shop.
A. T.
The best chocolate cake in Melbourne, highly recommend this place to dessert lovers. I really like hazelnut mille feuille, they made a good combination and the cake not too sweet, I also ordered hot dark chocolate for a drink, it was a good one that I’ve ever tried in Melbourne.
Staff were friendly.
I’ll back to this place soon.
See you on my birthday Le Petit Gateau :)

Bigg fan of cakes and brownies here.... exotic and delicious... favourite is passion fruit...
my favourite place in Melbourne!
F. P.
Tried the Black Beauty and the green tea cakes; and I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Not a sweet tooth person, so I really appreciate that the cakes have nice balance of sweet and chocolate/green tea bitterness. Will definitely try another cakes next time, black forrest seems to be quite popular.
The place is small but clean and bright.
J. L.
The steady stream of people pouring into the store is enough advertising. It's taken us this long to visit because it's not open on weekends.
We can see the kitchen where the magic happens but the eyes instantly popped at the glass counter where the beautiful cakes are displayed, inducing the all too familiar 'eyes too big for stomach' problem.
The Lychee Blush was light and delicate, with each element playing its part in the taste symphony. The raspberry compote centre is surrounded by a light lychee mousse and a pistachio crumble base. In contrast the Thai Milk Tea was rich with layered cream cheese, butter cream and Thai tea ganache. Both were too good to pass 'Go'.
M. Y.
The Quintessential Cake shop of Melbourne.
One of my favourite cake shops in Melbourne, it's a toss up between Beatrix.
I've tried most of the cakes, slices and purchased many large cakes for parties.
My favourites are the Cosmopolitan and the Brownie & Passionfruit Chocolate Gateaux.
These cakes are truly works of art, the layer combinations work so well together and each bite is a sugary, infused mosaic treat.
Cake artisans at their best.
So glad Le Petit's opened again.
R.I.P. The Cosmopolitan.

Great customer service! Ordered and paid for a cake to be picked up. Unfortunately due to a Covid case in the family the birthday party was unable to proceed. Called the store to explain the situation. Daniel from LePetit was really helpful - offered a credit, however due to unforeseen circumstance with Covid cases evolving Daniel was only happy to make a refund. Great customer service! Definitely returning to this store when we are ready to place an order again. P/S we have ordered LePetit cake in the past and they are absolutely delicious!!!!
C.
Amazing service. Emily is SUPERB ! Thank you for being so accommodating with my crazy fussy requests. Now I just need to find a way to eat everything in the shop and not get fat.

The best desserts in the city~ will go again and again
I. T.
Love their cakes and coffees - although more pricey, it’s worth the indulgence.
A. L.
Cake is delicate and light as feather. Coffee is nicely brewed and tastes fantastic.
Service is great, too. Quick and efficient. Staff are polite and helpful.
K. V. (.
Hidden gem. Great selection, presentation and service.
It is a small store so little to no seating room. Recommended location outside the lunch rush period or for take away. Price is dear so is recommend to those that are willing to take a hit to the hip pocket.
밍.
Such a nice place.I usually enjoy go to Dessert shop. I reckon here is the best place to eat sweets 🤗Love here! Not too sweet. The balance is perfect.
I. T.
Love their cakes and coffees - although more pricey, it’s worth the indulgence.
S. H.
Lovely coffee and hot chocolate varieties. I had the dark chocolate and Bailey's. Very rich, but delish. As was the lemon tart.
M. B.
Nice, but not mind blowing
I did eat too many sweets but this day and my taste buds were probably overwhelmed
3.5*

Bought a Birthday Cake from here. Nice one, my friends and I strongly recommend it
P. C. K.
Outstanding! One of my favourite patisseries in Melbourne. The tarts are absolutely insane. The prices are great and you are looking at $40 for a medium tart or $50 for a large. All their cakes are so pretty and absolutely delicious. The only negative is that they do sell out of stuff and they aren't open on weekends, but other than that everything is fantastic. Friendly staff and I love how they put the cakes in these mesh bags which adds to the whole experience.
R. D.
I am very fond of cupcakes & pastries and was looking for the best cake shop in the town and came across this shop. I have visited this place and was very happy. They are very creative and prepare the best cake. The taste was just amazing. The cake is very light, just like a feather and very delicious. I bought 7-8 varieties of cupcakes from this shop and all were very delicious. I am very much satisfied and would love to recommend them to everyone in the town.
R. L.
Their brownie passionfruit mousse cake is superb.
J. F.
I am glad this cake shop did not close down due to Covid! The image attached is passion fruit chocolate brownie. I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND the passion fruit brownie as it’s Flavours are amazing, especially the brownie, the passion curd and jelly balances out the brownie very well. It’s like a spounge had a baby with the best chocolate fudge in the universe the best cake slice I have ever gotten for $10!!! . CAUTION: please check with the staff about your dietary restrictions as something contain nuts. Moving on, the coffee here is also good. The setting here is wondrous as you can watch the cake connoisseurs work at creating the heavenly tasting cakes when separated by a thin pane of glass as you sip at your tea and enjoy your passion fruit brownie delicacy.

Great quality coffee, delicious cakes.
K. S.
Hazelnut mille feuille is amazing! So tasty. The best cake in town.
R. D.
Excellent quality cakes, truly decadent and luxurious. Each layer made with such attention to detail, it looks like it’s made in a Masterchef dessert challenge.
Of course with such good quality you will not get quantity. So if you are expecting a big cake for a small amount this isn’t the place for you.
This is a cake that you will remember for the taste and presentation for quite some time.
A solid 5 stars.
R. S.
A superb, unforgettable experience to see the creative cake artists at their best. Most delicious and presented in style, with a warm welcome and a great cuppa. Very impressed and will most certainly make this a compulsory stop on my next return visit to Melbourne.
E. C.
Really nice cakes :) tasty, well presented and a tad boujee!
J. G.
This is one of the best places for a under $10 lunch you can get in the city. Everything made by Le Petite is incredible quality - the coffee, rolls and cakes all of which I've had many times. So lucky to be working next door!
A. C.
Great dessert place. Had the passion fruit chocolate gateau and loved it!
D. D.
Oh wow. These cakes. I rarely use the word moist if I don't have to but damn these cakes are moist. Seriously I think I've tried nearly all the cakes from here. Some are decadent some are refreshing and some well here comes the word again moist super moist not too moist but perfect level of moist. Would recommend for any occasion to buy these cakes. Do you even need an occasion to eat cake? Eat it you won't regret it.
S. S.
Food: This has to be among some of the best desserts in Melbourne. Everything was beautifully crafted, and tasted exceptional. They are like little pieces of edible art!
Atmosphere/service: The seating area is quite small, and obviously gets busy. We timed it well and managed to get a table straight away. Staff were happy to discuss the range of sweets on offer, and provide advice. Despite the cafe being busy, we didn't feel pressured or rushed to leave our table once we had finished eating.
Would I recommend it: Yes, to be honest, if I had the time (and the funds) I'd probably hang out their every day just to enjoy their beautiful selection of sweet treats!
G. C.
Great tasting cake, very friendly staff, what's not to love??!!
A. K.
Must try their passion fruit brownie, it is the best cake you can find in Melbourne. So much texture and flavour in a single cake. You can pre order the cake 24 hour beforehand and get a chocolate writing for birthday etc ($5 extra)
J. R.
Very good cakes. Not cheap.
They can tape cakes to bottom of boxes so that you transport them home with minimal disturbance
E. E.
Sophisticated dessert both taste and presentation. It is a good place to indulge in a fancy sweet bite. The patissier can be seen inside busy making the magic of the sweets. A great treat to celebrate with that special someone with their full sized cakes in various size. Definitely a must visit place.
G. P.
Really enjoyed the cakes here. The gluten-free chocolate cake is rich but not too sweet. If you're feeling adventurous, try the matcha cake which has raspberry jam that adds a burst of tangy flavour. If you like alcohol in your desserts (or in anything and everything), the taste of rum is very strong in their black forest cake. My favourite is the hazelnut cake: a combination of fluffy cake and soft cream.
S. N.
Delicious cake. great place for dessert or just to have a cuppa with some friends
R. T.
Friendly and prompt service. Grabbed a slice of Cosmopolitan -yuuuuummmm & large Brownie Passionfruit cake which I am yet to taste. So looking forward to it. Cosmopolitan Cake was perfectly made. The slice was delicious and wasn't sickly sweet like many other cakes I've had. Perfect balance of ingredients. Have purchased from here before and highly recommend. Yes it may be pricey but quality you can't get anywhere else.
L. S.
We bought the white chocolate cheesecake for work birthday - it's so delicious and so well presented, it's almost a shame to eat it... almost!
P.
Premium cakes are freshly served here. My favourite cakes are Banofee and Pear Maple Pecan cakes. They are very yummy but a bit pricey. The cakes are selling fast. I recommend to go early because some cakes mIght be gone in the afternoon. Best banofee cake I’ve ever had.
A. J.
Proper French patisserie. Excellent pastry & cakes. Fast & efficient service. Highly recommended.

Their cakes are amazing! The cafe is good for quiet catch ups. Probably best to order cakes and enjoy at home. Seating is limited. Staff are friendly and helpful when choosing desserts
s. l.
I did not eat here but stopped by on the way back to the hotel to grab a lemon tart and black forest cake.
They were a tad pricey at around $8 each, but were delicious. I will probably come back when I am next back in Melbourne.
D. C.
Best cakes in Melbourne! Have tried a few such as the brownie passionfruit chocolate, white chocolate cheesecake, flourless orange and their fruit tart. Always our go to place for work events.
L. L.
Very nice cakes, coffee could be improved on
E. B.
I love this place for several reasons, but mainly the ever changing flavours of macarons and for offering one of the best Matcha Latte in Melbourne. They put a nice little twist on it with the freeze dried raspberry sprinkled on top to offer little packets of tangy contrast to the smoothness of the Matcha. Of course most people come here for the cakes or a lunch bite, but for me it's a quiet zone to chill and sip.
D. S.
Absolutely amazing cakes! They also served the best almond croissant I've ever had. A must for anyone shopping for a special occasion or amazing treat.
S. B.
Finally we, Australians, have cakes not much worse than in Paris!
And for the price just about four times of Parisian.
And with a heaps of glamour to boot! Starting with sublimely pompous shop keeper attitude and finishing with a piece of gold foil wrapped around cherry stalk, which you may swallow with pride and have even more fun few hours later!
Charming, just charming!
P.S. The real trouble is long lasting starchy aftertaste, but lets all of us be understanding and tolerant. Perhaps they were using cornflour instead of traditional agar-agar to enhance the looks of the cakes and the profitability of their enterprise of the same time. Right now Australians go through the tough times and $8.50 starchy gateau of one third the size of usual Parisian treat is just what we need for the survival of the species.
L. M.
Go to place for luxury cakes: large for parties and individual slices for an afternoon treat. Large window into the kitchen provides constant entertainment. Newspapers provided. Coffee is good, but hot chocolate options not child friendly.
R. M.
Despite few items on the menu being too sweet for my taste, their tart and gateaux is my favourite.
Y. H.
I ordered two cakes in the past and they were all fantastic. Going to order one more today. It is the best cake shop so far I have tried in Melbourne.
A. C.
Delicious passionfruit brownie, pricey but worth every dollar. Lots of different textures and amazing flavours that all balance well together and is not too sweet.
R. a.
Hot Chocolate, Mocha and Cardamom Orange Hot Chocolate are so delicious , also the selection of cakes so fresh and you can see it been bake through the open view glass.
J. G.
The best Cake, dessert amd hot chocolate I've ever tried in Australia and in my life!! A must have when in Melbourne during week days.
J. T.
Delicious cakes. Green tea, lemon tart, mango passionfruit brownie taste yum. Worth a try. Birthday cakes are not too expensive.
I. C.
This is my favorite cake shop by far, is quite pricey but you get what you paying for, PERFECTION, the price range is something like Brunetti, but Brunetti is not even near the perfect presentation Le Petit Gateau has of its cakes
O. H. (.
Brownie Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau is great, just a little bit too heavy for me. I more love the traditional French Cream Baklava (Sorry, I forget the real name in Le Petit Gateau) that is delicious!
H. L.
As always delicious cakes. Le Petit is my go to for birthday cakes and occasions. Always gets positive feedback from family and friends!
A. R.
I must say it's quite expensive for students and the cakes were relatively small. But I love the hot dark chocolate with baileys. I'll come again for the drinks not for the cakes.
N. W.
Ordered passionfruit cake for birthday and it tasted amazing. Very subtle passionfruit flavour and so smooth. Great delivery service too.
M. M.
Their cakes' are so delicious and so well presented.
My favourite is the hazelnut cake.
It's a great treat to celebrate with that special someone.
u.
This place does amazing cakes. Its rich so not a place to get your regular cake fix but a great place for getting a cake for a special occasion or office party
b.
This is a must visit location in Melbourne. An exquisite range of treats and if paired with a coffee will make an windy day warmer. The service was good.
A. B.
best cake in town! I love to have a small slice with a coffee on the spot before I go home with the big cake for my guests.
A. C.
Quite nice but some desserts are overly sweet for my taste.
E. W.
The best cake shop in Melbourne IMO. Every cake is a work of art, the place is immaculate and you can see them being made.
S. V.
Cakes are soooooooo delicious!
M. I.
Le Petit Gateau......stunning cakes, without fail every time, the sweet aroma when you walk into this small establishment is wunderbar and they have single serves of cake....purrfect for office workers to pop in @ afternoon tea to take back to yr desk.....nostalgic for the days when I worked around the corner from Little Collins Street....Their coffee is also reeeeallly good, only down side they are not open on weekends!
D. H.
My favourite go to store for office cakes. The Orange and almond cake is amazing. Not cheap but quality cakes for a competitive price
H. O. A. (.
A good variety of cakes to select from for both individual and larger cakes. Great place for desserts but there might not be enough tables to dine in.
V. L.
