Cool place for some croissants fix.
Large space, modern industrial designed restaurant with open kitchen. Best to be here early to avoid long queue!
Beautiful layering seem in their croissants.
Photo attached. Recommended.
A. C.
Pastry is very nice top class and better than hotel standard as the pastry is baked fresh. Best to come early, make pre-orders to avoid disappointments.
We only manage to try original, ham and cheese and cinnamon.
They quickly run out of their menu selections as fresh batches run out so fast!
Best to arrive before 8 or after 11 (this was on a weekday though)
K. c.
5 star pastries, 5 star coffee, 5 star customer service. Not cheap but worth every cent!
Went at 8am on a Wednesday morning, minute line infringe, a mere 10minute wait but go any later, expect a long line, especially weekends.
They have regular flavours & special monthly ones, check website prior if you want to know what they are or pre-order 2 days in advance to go straight to front of line to pick up in your 15minute window.

I really liked their ham and gruyere croissant. It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. I bought 2 more after I ate my first one.
The almond croissant was also scrumptious. The roasted almond pieces added a pleasant nutty flavour to the croissant.
I love the cruffin base, but I wasn’t a big fan of the lemon curd filling. It kinda reminded me of my skincare 😭
The place was also very sleek and monochromatic. It definitely elevated my enjoyment of their pastries.
K. B.
Exceptional pastries. They're supposed to be one of the best croissant factories in Australia and coming here certainly is an experience. Watching the bakers doing their magic behind the windows is super cool and the smell of croissant when you walk in is divine. It's super popular and the queue is always long but I honestly don't mind the wait as the reward is more than satisfying!
A. S.
You have to try Lune if you love croissants, period. Their croissants are flaky and light, yet not greasy as they are at some other highly rated places. Loved the almond one and the birthday croissant. Damn, they sell out fast and there is always a queue, but the staff are super friendly. The coffee was alright given there are hundreds of great coffee places around.
M. C. L.
Heavenly croissant! I'm not that big of a fan of croissant but loved this!!! I only had to wait for 5 mins on a Saturday morning which was perfect to build up my appetite.
D. G. B.
Two boxes of croissants were on the way to Sydney to share with our family. After eaten them all, if I could describe my experience with a single word, I would say: “Scrumptious” 😙🤌🏻
D. S.
Croissants that take you to the moon and brings you back to Lune Croissanterie!!! What a place to have the most delicious, melt-in-mouth, super-soft, irresistible croissants,💕💖💕! It's a place to experience and words can't do enough justice to the amazing and incomparable flavours that "Lune Croissanterie" offers... A must must must place to visit atleast once a month if not more for an authentic French experience!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
m.
tried their new monthly special tomato tart but was unfortunately almost chilled? their plain croissant was lovely and warm though so would come back for that!
C. H.
I'd say this place is a 3.5 stars. Not as bad as 3 stars, but barely worth 4 stars.
This place is good for all their different flavours, especially their seasonal flavours, but personally for me they never taste like a croissant. A nice sweet or savoury pastry, but never a strong croissant flavour.
This is my biased view as I like to have my croissant to have a stronger butter flavour.
I enjoy the food, as I visit every now and then, but it never sates my croissant craving.
G. M.
No queues today, just the buzz of busy patissiers and the aroma of coffee and croissants. We selected 3 croissants to share:
First up, we enjoyed the Pain au Chocolat featuring the flakiest, melt in your mouth pastry wrapped around two dark rich chocolate batons. A Kouign Amann second up provided a contrasting texture and gentle buttery flavour and delicate salt and caramel glazing. Finally the Croissant aux Amandes (Almond frangipane/soft almond cream custard) absolutely covered in almond flakes was every bit the taste sensation it looked.
Lune has the magic touch when it comes to world class croissants!
A. N. F.
Best croissant i’ve ever had - by far.
Intrigued by the decoration & story behind the owner, the croissant & pastry was bomb!
Tried their pain au chocolate, almond croissant, banoffee, and lemon curd -> you may crave for more.
Please expect a long queue (it was before pandemic) but it was worth the wait!
G.
One of the best croissants I have had in Australia. It was just unbelievable. We tried their seasonal Banh Mi croissant and it was really moist and delicious.
M. A.
This was my first visit inside of the world famous Lune Fitzroy, where the owner has mastered the elements of minimalism whilst at the same time providing a welcoming front of house for patrons to enjoy. Ranked as the best croissant in the world, there is a line outside of Lune most mornings.
Having been lucky enough to sample their entire menu now, it's definitely worth the wait and price. The pastry treats melt in your mouth, providing a world class culinary experience.
N. M.
It is good going by the queues. Never tasted the crossaints yet. They always run out by 11 am. You can still see bakers baking but none were available for those in queue to buy apparantly.
I. K.
Went there on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm. Only traditional and almond croissants were left. The waiting line wasn’t bad (about 10 minutes only). Even managed to find a table to sit there (the place is much more spacious then in the CBD). Soy cap was great too.
M. G.
The best croissants I’ve ever eaten, without question! From the flaky buttery deliciousness of the traditional to the tangy lemon curd in the cruffin, there’s something for everyone. Well worth lining up for!
S. O.
Huge line to get but the wait was well worth it. Croissants were so delicious. Very buttery and flavoursome. Few different varieties. Coffee is pretty good to.
N. S.
Arrived at 7:45am 3rd Oct. Sunday. During lockdown.
No one at line.
Around 8:15am. Short line. 20 plus min wait.
Street parking available at this time.
Hidden street poem can be found if you walk around.
Food:
Plain croissant. Flaky and light.
Preference for more buttery style.
Preferred the other style of flavoured croissant.
T. N.
probably THE perfect spot to grab the perfect croissant!
Lune makes a selection of different pastries with unique flavourings ranging from croissants to danish to cruffins and more!
definitely get on the Almond Croissant! probably one of the top flavours!
upon my arrival i got my hands on their new Banh Mi Croissant and the Birthday Cake Croissant!
i would suggest arriving early as keen consumers are lining up outside up to 30mins prior to opening!
so if you are planning on arriving later in the day expect to have a smaller selection to choose from 😜
C. Z. (.
A great place to watch how they make the pastry. Love the design how they display their croissants and other stuff. Big space and quick service. But we could not feel happiness or excitement from the staff who serve us. They must be too popular and serve too many customers a day which dry their emotion out and become a plain customer experience. Order a traditional croissant and which is average and could not make me come back for that.
B. B. M.
Just like.. died and went to pastry heaven..
Extra Snaps to the staff - they are some of the nicest, coolest (and a little cheeky 😉) hospo staff in Melbourne! Get 653496 of everything, u won’t be sorry!
L. L.
Woke up bright and early to line up for these croissants. Unfortunately, I found they did not live up to the hype. I may just be spoiled with incredibly buttery airy croissants back home (Montreal) but Lune's ended up being too doughy and dense for me! I preferred the Lemon Curd Cruffin, as it was more unique and the crunch was enjoyable. Despite the long wait and a tiny bit of disappointment, I don't regret trying these during my trip. I wish there were more flavors available (or rather, I wish most flavors weren't sold out by the time I got to the cash)!
M. K.
Super tasty and unique croissant in this cafe. Definitely a gem at laneaway. Entrance is not very obvious. Cafe is huge, you can see staff making croissants. Coffee and hot chocolate is also very nice. Suggest to go early for more choice of croissant. Staff is friendly, but need some waiting time when crowd in the cafe. Plenty of sitting and standing place inside this cafe. No outdoor sitting. Parking is very limited, but very convenient with tram. Price is on the high end. However for unique flavor, it definitely worth the money.
J. G.
Never disappoints! Unless you arrived late and they sold out. I do wish they will announce on their social media regarding their croissant availability. That's a reason why they sold out, the croissants are simply delicious. Highly recommend the almond croissant. They often have new flavours too, which is exciting. I've lost count on how much time I visit them but I'll continue doing so. Highly recommended.
S.
This is one of the very few places that lives up to the hype. I understand why they’re so popular. Croissants were just simply delicious. Almond croissant is definitely a must try. Also a nice ambience!
J. D.
Really tasty croissants. Possibly the best I've tasted. But also have to get up early if you want to get the wider selection! They sell out quick!
C. T.
We flew from Sydney to Melbourne to try this place. Totally worth it. The queue was very long that day but the Croissants were very delicious we enjoyed the whole experience. I loved the kitchen display so we were able to watch them preparing everything with a lot of details like an artwork. Super clean. Can’t wait to have LUNE in Sydney.
M. D.
Lune ❤️
This place still doesn’t disappoint! If you enjoy your pastries it’s a definite must! Do expect a cue, although well worth it. Card only here. Coffee was enjoyable (supreme coffee) shop fit put is simple and aesthetically pleasing.
M. Z.
A must visit. Best crossaints I've eaten. Delicious buttery, flakey goodness- exactly what you would expect from a crossaint Recommend pre-ordering so you can skip the queues.
Q. T.
Good croissants, limited variety though (I'm assuming they were sold out but there was no sign of this or anything?). Very nice interior as well, though the seating was a small table which was really awkward. 3 stars due to the poor customer service, the lady with the short brunette bob was miserable and had an attitude towards us for no reason. Was also very overpriced
G. S.
Love this place. Pastries are amazing! The service is just as good if not better! Great to see the dine in experience back and the coffee is amazing!. The only opportunity if I could give one is to have an almond milk available. Oat and soy are available but no almond. Not a massive issue and definitely didn't alter the experience.
Well Done team!
A. S.
Ok so after hearing so much about this place I manager to finally give it a try. Luckily I stumbled upon it on a morning walk and there was no lineup. Can honestly say with my first bite it was clear this is the single best croissant I have ever tasted. I tried the game and gruyere cheese croissant and wow, perfect taste, texture, crunch, softness and flavour. Only quality ingredients too. The service was friendly and knew their menu really well. Coffee was good to, what you'd expect from Melbourne. Great job guys! I'll definitely be bringing others here too
S. S.
Lune should be on the agenda for every Melbourne tourist – fantastic pastries, decent coffee and quick service.
Finding it is half the fun – down a very narrow laneway where people park at all angles to line up here for amazing pastries.
They’re not cheap, $10 is the staring price, and you’ll have to queue – there’s always a line out the door. There’s also limited seating inside, so, maybe grab a takeaway and get your coffee elsewhere.
But the wait isn't long, and you can use the time to check out the pastries on display. You order then stand aside while someone packages up your selection and brings it to you.
And the pastries are sublime and very much worth the price and the wait, and, as you wait, you look on into the vast kitchen at the heart of the building.
D.
Best Danish And almond croissant 🥐 I ever had .. heared a lot so specially flew from Hobart to try that and its worth it ..😍
L. N.
Croissants are delicious but coffee was terrible! Coffee tasted burnt, not sure if it was over roasted or the machine wasn’t cleaned properly. There was no foam either, wish that was an exaggeration!
Aside from that, staff are really lovely and friendly, the place is nice and actually quite clean for a busy shop with such a messy food to eat! I will just reiterate, the croissants are so yummy! My favourite is pain au chocolat, I would literally walk to another cafe just to get those croissants. Just don’t have your hopes up for the coffee...
H. R.
It is actually the best croissants in the world! Definitely by far the best I've ever had and they are consistently good! I have purchased in 2015 and only a couple of days ago and the quality is the same! Sooo good! Yes, it is pricey, but you really get your money's worth. Plus, they are doing deliveries to suburbs far away (>5km away) during these Covid restrictions. Really appreciate that! I highly recommend their plain croissant and twice baked mocha (actually I highly recommend everything!)
J. E.
Get there early, be prepared to line up and know that you will over order as every single croissant looks amazing on display, so you’ll want at least one of each!
Soft buttery inside with a crisp, crunch shell.
These croissants are considered the best in Australia for a reason.
Not only that, the staff seem to genuinely enjoy what they are doing and helping you decide which ones to buy.
The coffee is also excellent, brave the lines, it’ll be worth it. Unforgettable experience, you’ll be comparing every croissant you eat to these in the future!
T. S.
Yummmmm ! No doubt ... They have thebest croissants in the world... Ammmaazing. We were spoilt for choice.. so we ended up ordering 4 of the 9 available croissants varieties.
Z.
i pre ordered my pastries because i know they get busy, they had everything ready for me straight away and it was all delicious!! i got the pumpkin pie cruffins (my favourite) and the eggplant zaatar twist, and a kouign amann! i loved everything and will buy from them again in the future :))
R. P.
This place is worth it. It's worth lining up for and worth the high prices. As the saying goes you get what you pay for and the croissants here are only another level.
Plain and ham/cheese croissants is what I would recommend trying.
D. T.
Beautiful and delicious award winning hand made Croissants and pastries.
Must tries here are the classic croissants and the amazing Ham and Gruyere which we love.
The Cheese and Vegemite Escargot was a nice surprise as we haven't seen that on the menu the last time we were in and certainly worth a try.
This was also the first time we have tried the Mornong Bun which is made of croissant pastry with beautifully fragrant cinnamon, brown sugar and butter. It wasn't as sweet as we were expecting and the flavours of the cinnamon really shone through.
The Persian Love Cake had a lovely pistachio filling and with the subtle flavours of the rose water shining through made it thoroughly enjoyable.
Definitely our favourite place for croissants!
O. K.
Lune is probably one of the world's finest Croissants making Bakery in the world. The only other best we have had were in Paris.
This time we managed to be here pretty early (read 10.00am) and it still took us 20 odd minutes to be able to place our orders. Yet, their few famous were already sold out. Still.managed to get our hands on the Original, Almond, Black Forest, Lemon Curd and Jam and Cream. Of course not, we would never be able to eat them all in a single day but Omg! perfectly flaky, crisp and moist. The fillings are generous and quite flavorful.
All of them, and we mean it, ALL OF THEM WERE AMAZING.
Worth the wait, time and money. Hospitality is topnotch.
Earlier Rating 4/5
By the time we reached here, everything was over (close to 2.35pm)....So had no other option but to have croissants which were the only thing available (and being made)
They were Excellent!!
Hope to comedown little early and try what they are also known for.
K. G.
I can see why so many people obsess over the croissants here. They are divine! Flaky buttery goodness. Great aesthetic in the place too. Only negative is I have to wait in line every time! But that's how you know how amazing they are
J. H.
I got there 8am Sunday and there is already a line! I enjoyed the assorts of pastries. I took it home but there are many people who enjoys the fresh croissants in the shop with their coffee. Despite the line out of the shop, there is plenty of room for you to sit down and enjoy your breakfast whilst not feeling too crowded. Was good!
M. T. L.
Love love love, was impressed with the service and the croissants did not disappoint either. They were as tasty as imagined with the premium price tag to boot. But I'm glad I went and for special occasions I will come again and buy a selection of their new or special flavours.
My partner and I bought four to dine in:plain, ham and gruyere, cheese and pepper, twice baked almond croissant and enjoyed them all with a cup of mocha.
Then I went to buy some to bring home as well, this time choosing to try the chocolate cherry Danish, on top of what we already tried in store.
A. P.
A very unique experience. The place itself, very Fitzroy, it’s welcoming and has a lot of character. The croissants are amazing. They have more than 10 different options and they are all large croissants. The sweet ones are very sweet. Nice music, great service and highly recommend.
K. M.
Finally got a chance to try this popular lune croissant. They have 4 kinds to choose from, ordered the original and almond. Their croissant is crisp outside and soft inside, it won’t get too greasy like many others. The crispy shell doesn’t fall apart when you bite into it, it breaks into curve shapes. The almond one is heaven, the layer of almonds they lay on it is absolutely art.
h.
Let's be honest this place is pricey but you know what I don't care and every time I order at least 3-4 pieces because the taste is incredible , my fav is the almond one
L. L.
There seems to be two schools of thought in croissants, but the type that Lune makes is definitely my preference. It also makes a big difference if you can get here to have it fresh instead of takeaway! Fresh from the oven the croissants are crisp, airy and layered on the outside and very gently elastic and soft on the inside.
Lune Lab is also a worthwhile endeavour if you manage to get a booking. They also do intensely rich, thick Mörk chocolates.
Also, lovely space to hang out in. Highly recommended and a Melbourne stalwart.
V. Z.
Having heard so many rave reviews, the place doesn’t disappoint and lives up to its hype and of course the amazing croissants 🥐
We tried almost one of every sweet ones available, but the almond croissant takes the top spot. Be sure to make it early before they get sold out ! Highly recommended (and will definitely revisit to try the savoury options next).
G. M.
I had the almond croissant and oat hot chocolate on a busy Sunday morning. It is amazing that you are able to sit and watch the croissants being made in front of you, it is quite fascinating and entertaining. I was surprised that my hot chocolate which was being made to order was passed to me a few minutes before the croissant, which did not need any preparation.
The croissant was incredible, with such a nice flavour and texture, the best I have ever tasted, however, I would recommend sharing with someone else as they are huge (considering the price, they should be), and the almond filling gets sickeningly sweet 1/3 of the way through it.
What would make it much better is if the croissants were kept warm, so they tasted a bit more fresh and indulgent.
It was also a bit disappointing that their drinks selection is very limited, the introduction of almond milk, and chai latte's would be great!
I would recommend going to Lune, but those are just a couple of things to be aware of!
A. D.
My brother took me here on a Wednesday morning, amazingly there was no line to wait in! We tried the traditional French, the ham & gruyere (shaved ham & Swiss gruyere), and the turtle (Pain au Chocolat, filled with a Mork Chocolate frangipane, caramel sauce and toasted pecans. Garnished with candied pecans, salted caramel and chocolate ganache). Words cannot do these croissants enough justice.. Just come and try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed. One for the bucket list for sure. Absolutely will be back for more, next time I'm in Victoria.
R. H.
Without a doubt this is the best croissant that I had so far in Australia. Really soft and tasty with so many layers. They have long queue but it is quite fast moving. A bit expensive from your normal croissant, but I would gladly pay it. It is completely worth the price point. If only I can give this more that 5 stars, I would.
F. Q.
Lune definitely offers some of the best croissants i’ve ever tasted! I tried their caramel, apple pie, plain chocolate and black forest croissants, they’re all packed with flavors!
Although each croissant is a bit pricey, I say it is worth every penny spent 😋
I can’t wait to be back when they have other new flavors 😍 (or just to have more of the plain chocolate croissants 😝)
A. K.
Croissants 6 out of 10.
Only 1 type of croissants was available in the morning.
Tastes like a loaf, not a croissant. Expensive price. The service has problems.
Hopefully they will improve their business.
L. C. J.
Best croissant I the world! Had 4 croissants and got 5 croissants to takeaway. It was nice and flaky and not over buttery
D. L.
Finally made it to the famed lune croissant. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon an hour before closing. Ordered the original and almond croissants as that’s what they had left. The venue is quite unique being in a warehouse like space, with limited seating though. The croissants were soft and crispy, with nice flavour. I wouldn’t say it’s amazing but definitely worth a try. The price is a little steep with 2 croissants and coffee coming to almost $20. A very popular spot for tourists too.
E. K.
Hyped for a good reason. The pastry is so flaky and delicious. We adore the ham and gruyere and almond croissants. All are yum though. Check out their rotating sweet specials - we had the chocolate banana and birthday cake (October 2020). Delivery during lockdown has been amazing, sad to see it go.
S. “. W.
Lune is not only a great spot for a world famous croissant 🥐(that’s right) but it’s also a destination.
You need to see how they make these and how much dedication there is in making these amazing pastries. You can see in the weather controlled room what goes on and it’s so cool. I highly recommend checking it out while in Melbourne.
M. P.
Extraordinary experience with Lune croissants!
Cozy but modern vibes. Stuffs are so energetic and helpful. Taste was very good but there is another better croissant I ever had. Long queue all day.
F. 2. F. L.
Oh my lord! To say that the almond croissant is scrumptious is an understatement! It is light, flaky and buttery. I can see why people line up to get into this place! The coffee was also nice and smooth but would be great if they offered skim milk for the coffee. Wasn't a long wait at all on a Sunday morning around 9.30am and was lucky to score parking across the road! All in all Lune is worth raving about! I received good service and a friendly greeting upon entry with an explanation of Covid safety measures. Was also good to see Lune ensuring there was social distancing observed while lining up which alot of cafes and restaurants are extremely slack on!
W. Y.
I am not a sweet toothed person but still have nothing but great things to say about this croissanterie! Try their ham and gruyère or any other savoury item if you want something lighter and more different. I recommend the lemon cruffin as a sweet option for those who are not sweet toothed like me- the tartness from the lemon curd really helps.
S. C.
Crossaints are lively. So many to try. Good coffee too. Get in early or wait in the queue!
J. L.
Love these croissants.
Amazing, worth the money for the experience
R. L.
A must try in Melbourne, never disappoints, but prepare to queue up for anywhere between 10-30mins. make sure go early in the day as some items start to run out even at 11:30am (on a Saturday). The other day I went to the CBD store around 2pm they were shut because all sold out.
C. S.
just beat the rush. still making croissants close to midday 👌🏻 best croissant i've had EVER. have had better chocolate croissants elsewhere. coffee is average but I suppose the main focus are the baked goods. beautiful spacious warm warehouse type feel
D. T.
Went to try out the croissants at Lune for the first time after hearing about all the good reviews. The queue was crazy even at 8.50am on Sat morning. Took us 40mins to get to the counter.
The Ham & Gruyere was my favourite. It was savoury, salty, buttery and crispy all rolled together.
I also had their regular plain croissant which was also very good. The crust was very crispy and flaky and the overall pastry is buttery and paired well with hot chocolate.
The Kouign Amann is also another good pastry that should be tried. It is crispy and not overly sweet.
Overall, a very nice breakfast although a bit pricey. For those planning to visit, do recommend you go early as they are typically sold out by 2pm.
C. A.
Omg. We waited for 45 minutes in a line out the door and around the corner. It was worth every minute. Beautiful croissants.
B. U.
It is a bit far from the city but it is worth the trip as you can see the kitchen in the middle of the building with the chefs making all the delectable pastries.
The counter is on one side of the building, you can tell as there is a line of pastries running across it. This is the menu. After ordering you can grab a seat lining the edge of the building. Be aware that they are a card only place.
The croissants were crispy and tasty. I had the almond and the pan de coco and both were really delicious. I preferred the pan de coco with the coconut flavours. I had just missed out on the caramel popcorn croissant.
Definitely a nice place to return and try croissants and other pastries.
V. I.
The best Croissants in Melbourne! I keep coming back to reward myself ! Would 100% recommend the classic and the almond croissant. It's worth waiting in line for one.
They have a satellite store in the CBD too.
A must-try for tourists !
r. k.
So delicious, enjoyed one of the best croissant I ever had with an amazing cup of coffee. I very much loved the industrial interiors too. Thank you ❤️
Y. K. W.
Amazing croissants. A must-try for anyone visiting Melbourne. There is always a super long queue on weekends, so come early to avoid disappointment. You can also refer to their website to better understand what is available on their menu instead of reaching the counter and having issues deciding what to order there. Please note that this eatery only accepts cashless payments.
D. (.
The croissants were good. But didn't really live up to the hype and expectations created. The more expensive ones like banana tasted more like walnut paste and was actually quite disapointing. The savory ones were better.
N. M. W.
Lune serves some of THE BEST croissants I have EVER had!! There was a line but we went early and didn’t wait long. Once inside, the staff was very helpful. My husband and I purchased 4 croissants and they were so delicate yet packed with so much flavor, even the plain one. I loved loved the gruyere and ham along with the coconut and chocolate. We enjoyed the croissants so much, we returned the next day and I tried the pan au chocolat along with the cinnamon cardamom. Just wow!! We highly recommend.
D. L.
On my third attempt (in two years) I was lucky enough to finally try their croissants... and they didn’t disappoint. The service was impeccable and thoughtful, the coffee was excellent and the croissants.... amazing!! We bought four to take away with the intention of having one there... but we couldn’t stop at one.
We tried the original, ham & gruyere and the chocolate croissants and they were all yum, super flaky, crispy and shiny on the outside, while buttery and soft inside
Worth the line up
J. F.
LUNE Fitzroy is by far the better of the two locations for this awesome bakery. Bakery is encased in glass and it's simply fun to watch the team turning out delicious croissants 🥐 right before your eyes.
Fluffy, crusty and delicious these croissants are great to go alongside the expert barista coffees on site.
Limited seating and long queues for those who arrive any later then 10:30am means that if your an early riser you never see any of the issues mentioned by other guests.
L. H.
Lune really has the best croissants I have tasted. Favorites include almond, lemon, ham & cheese, Apple crumble and swirl.
The interior of the shop is unique and brilliantly thought out with the croissants being made in the middle of the store and eating areas around the perimeter.
This is a must visit when in Melbourne.

"World's Best Croissant" by the New York Times! Lune Croissanterie is one of the patisseries you must visit in Melbourne. A huge line up every morning but worth a visit. All croissants were crispy and flaky on the outside but creamy buttery inside. Tried several flavors - Almond Croissant was my favourite. Lots of almonds on top of the croissant stuffed with delicious filling! A series of inner layers gave off that airy touch which kept them light. Slightly overhyped and overpriced as they didn't surpass my expectation but definitely worth a try!
M.
Amazing croissants!! Really really impressed with the quality, taste and service. The queue was long even early in the morning but the wait was just 10-15 mins because the whole system was so productive and efficient; really smart way to keep things going. The ham and cheese croissant is fantastic. Even though It’s a little pricey( 9 bucks), but I wouldn’t mind purchasing it again. Most importantly, my French boyfriend approves and he is the most picky croissant eater ever 🤗😂
C. C.
Very tasty croissant. Almond was especially fragrant. The almond croissant had a sweet filling that was way too sweet though. The plain croissant was really crispy and delicious. Ham and cheese croissant was average. Food here is overpriced though.
T. L.
Best croissants I've ever had

Prefect croissant I ever have. So crispy outside and excellent soft inside. Not that long queue than I expected. Really really worth a try ! Remember to go early because some popular flavours will be sold out shortly.

An amazing croissanterie tucked into Melbourne's inner city hipster heartland. These croissants are otherworldly - made on site welcoming the viewing of the public, the place is lacking in tables making for a genuine park bench experience. This place exists for one reason only: to make the best croissants in Melbourne. And it does so wonderfully. Highly recommended.
C. C. R.
It is really an indulgence to have this famous croissant in the morning with coffee. The service was fast, the croissant were the best I've ever tasted so far, perfect crunchiness, buttery, and most importanly it was worth the price.
I was here on Tuesday brunch time, and luckily there was no long line and be sure to pay only with card.

Best laminated pastries in Australia! Made with love and precision! I love the whole experience of watching the pastries being prepared in the cube too. Delicious pastries and coffee is good. Best too go when it's not too busy as there can be a queue and no seating but definitely worth while. If you order one of the dessert pastries be prepared because they are delicious but rich. Want something lighter? Opt for a plain croissant or pain au chocolate.
D. M.
I tried the almond croissant and rose & lychee cruffin. They were flaky, moist inside with generous amount of fillings. They were pricey but I guess it’s pretty normal because every thing is expensive in Australia. Do check their opening hours, especially if you’re a tourist. And come before their opening hours, it will get crowded and the line was really long.
M. C.
I trammed to lune for breakfast for my husband and I; ordered two plain croissants, one ham and gruyere, seasonal berry cruffin and the classic lemon curd cruffin. We loved everything.
Such treats! Such texture!
K.
I placed an order with Lune last week and then went to pick it up on the weekend. Even though my order wasn't there (the only reason why this is a 4 star and not a 5 star review) the Front of House Supervisor, Charlotte, went out of her way to sort something out for me, completely unbidden. I got a partial refund (for the items I had ordered that they no longer had any of on the day), a free hot chocolate, and I STILL left with 6 croissants which were the tastiest I've ever had. It's unusual to receive such good customer service these days and it means that I'll totally be going back to Lune in the future despite the mixup with my order.
J. C.
Probably the best croissant ever in my life. Pricey and long wait, but definitely worth. Go early to avoid wait, and get as much as you can. Otherwise you will end up standing in line again.
M. W.
Wonderful flakey buttery croissants baked to perfection with great consistency.
Enjoyed the mouth-watering selection of savoury and sweet products on offer with good coffee.
No fancy decor. Very limited basic seating on benches along the walls, and a small counter with bar stools offering views of the glass-walled workspace where the excellent croissants are produced.
Friendly staff, efficient service, delicious food.
B. R.
Amazing croissants, possibly worth the hype.
The croissants really are amongst the best I've ever had but whether they're worth $6 a pop is another question and the answer really depends on how much you like pastries.
Lune have turned pasty making into more of a science than an art - the venue looks more like a laboratory than a bakery - but you can't argue with the result. We had both the plain and chocolate croissants and bother pretty damn good. Crispy on the outside and moist and just a little doughy on the inside.
I highly recommend you come early, particularly on the weekend. We got there more or less when the doors opened and it was already starting to get busy although the queue was still mercifully short. People tend to order in bulk here so sometimes it looks like the queue wont take long but it can be deceptively short.

Despite the 20 minute wait, the croissants were worth waiting for. Good facilities, great open view of pastry chefs preparing croissants and friendly staff... but you need to control self from eating too much...
G. M.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for which is the closest thing to pastry perfection I've ever tasted. Only criticism is that service could be a tad bit faster to accommodate the sheer amount of patrons visiting the place. Worth the trip, and the $$$
R. J.
Lune croissant is best of best, not only flavor, but also best quality of kitchen (Michelin 3 stars owner chef will cry when they looked kitchen “mam ma mi a”
Well marketing, well branding
There are two shops in Melbourne but I really recommend you come and see sucking world class kitchen
I love there
Ps. Melbourne , we are no longer have to wear mask in kitchen. Just in case i am letting you know atm😚
X. I.
Is not just about the product. They really know what they do and why they do it. The place is focus in one only purpose, deliver the best patisserie with dedication and nothing else. The setting and the simplicity shows what they really care about. Is brilliant.
E. X.
This place has been on the top of my list for a while. It’s amazing to watch how croissants are made, and of course their croissants are amazing. Surprisingly the coffee was really good too.

Simply sublime. Having tasted croissants across Paris, Lune Croissanterie's croissants are definitely up there with the best from France. I love the glistening shell of the croissant, and then when biting through, it was soft and buttery. Other highlights included the kouign-amann and a coconut pandan croissant. The space hub like kitchen is a great concept and I enjoyed watching the pastry chefs go about their work with precision and unwavering attention to detail. Coffee was excellent. We went in with high expectations and they were exceeded, with helpful service being the cherry on the cake!

Just a small signage outside the cafe welcomes you to one of the most contrast-y interior for a cafe that I have seen around Melbourne. Modern, precise and sterile comes to mind when trying to explain the ambient of the interior space of this cafe. A line and the buttery smell of pastries greets you at the door. Fortunately servers are quite efficient in servicing the line making sure you get served fairly quickly. Next would be when you realize seats are really difficult to come by. They have left the middle of the cafe completely empty, maybe as walkway, so sitting areas are only by the walls. And they are benches with little corner tables as dining table. So, if you're coming here with a group, dining in would be quite a challenge. However most importantly, the parties. So there are about 10 main selections of pastries available (on the day that I visited). I managed to try about 8 of those. And I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how buttery and close to perfect those pastries were. They came in a very beautiful cardboard box. Didn't take too long from the time your place your orders. Same can be said about the coffees.
Will definitely visit again soon.
C. C.
Beautiful pastries, lovely coffee. Be sure to get in early to avoid waiting in a line that goes around the block. If there's space, pull up a seat and watch the pastry getting made. The staff are friendly, professional and quick at getting through the lines. Thoroughly recommend the fig Danish - it's one of the best pastries I have ever had.
S. N.
Ordered Pavlova, Carbonara, Lemon Curd, and Choc Peppermint for afternoon tea on Thursday. Total 44.50 AUD.
The Pavlova was light, fresh, and not too sweet. The texture was very creamy and juicy. The flavors of the fruits were well balanced by the cream and pastry. The pastry itself was delightfully crisp and flakey, but firm to the touch.
The pastry of the Carbonara was great. However I did not find the flavor very interesting. The Lemon Curd cruffin again the pastry was fantastically made. The lemon taste was balanced and dominant, but not overpowering. The Choc Peppermint was the best among the 4. The taste was amazing and seriously flavorful.
The service was very quick, and the staff were hospitable. The interior was very modern, uplifting, clean, and welcoming. The price point was a bit too high for cruffins / croissants.
I. P.
Amazing croissants is an understatement. They were pretty perfect. I've tried the original, almond, and salted caramel macadamia so far and I must say they're amazing. Flaky, buttery, but substantial at the same time (it's a weird explanation but you know how bad croissants sometimes feel like biting into burnt air?). Go to their Fitzroy store and see the temperature-controlled lab situation. Good coffee too, shout out to the peeps at the coffee counter. Be wary of the line and lack of sitting space during the weekends. And the price can be a bit hefty but they are good.
J. G.
Loved it! Went on Sunday morning and we were greeted by a queue. Not a big deal as the line moved pretty smoothly! It was also exciting to see people coming out of the place with boxes and bags of pastries (ok, not that exciting because you would hope that it doesn't run out before it's your turn). The interior of the place was sleek and tastefully designed.
We got a traditional croissant and a pain au chocolat to share. The traditional croissant was a clear winner for us. Crisp and tastes absolutely delicious, it was! It may be leaning towards the pricey side with prices starting from A$5.8, but worth it imo. Do drop by earlier to avoid disappointment as they close at 3pm or when they're sold out.
Oh! And they only accept card payments :)
A. K.
The outlet at fritroy was really nice and welcoming even with the COVID restrictions .The product was some of the best I have had in a long long time .We indulged in a ham and gruyere cheese croissant, a pineapple and coconut croissant with some coffee What makes the place stunning is the focus on the product and the display
G. L.
A regular pit stop for us at this place whenever in Melbourne as my wife loves the ham and cheese, and the plain ones. I like the hot chocolate too as I'm a non-coffee drinker. The queues in the morning hasn't changed since I first knew this place, so hype or no hype, it's clearly a perpetual crowd favourite.
D. S.
Within a month of discovering this place I have visited it thrice....I am simply in love with their almond croissants which has a perfectly sweet to suit my taste buds ...Whats even more exciting is to see the experienced chefs work on the croissants continuously. This place is a must visit for every sweet tooth
J. B.
Some of the best croissants in the city. Even the plain croissant has the buttery taste to it. The almond croissant is full of rich flavor. Be ready with your wallet, though, the place is expensive.
L. H.
These croissants were deliciously crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. The lemon curd cronut was a burst of flavour & my favourite! If there's time & space, it's cool to watch the bakers hard at work within the temperature controlled cube.
P. S.
Great Croissants!!!! At Lune you can see the pastries being made before you very eyes - the Kitchen is a glass room in the middle of the place and you can watch the skill of the pastry chefs creating amazing delights. The place is very minimally fitted - don't expect table service and an extensive menu. There are not really tables to speak of and if you are early enough and they have not run out, you might get a selection of up to 5-6 pastries to choose from and a coffee or tea.
Although this minimalist approach might put you off - this will only be the case until you take the first bite of the Croissant and wash it down with some very good coffee.
Make sure you buy some to take home - your family will love you for it!
M. S. (.
Huge que to get a crossiant (45min wait) which I got a bit impatient about. The crossiants are however, deliciously excellent! My only disappointments were that the almond crossiant had way too many almonds on top and the savoury ham and cheese crossiant was cold meaning the cheese wasn't nice and melty/fresh out of the oven. The cookies and Cream crossiant wasn't as sweet as expected which was a nice surprise. Service was good, love the exposed brick and warehouse feel of the shop. Takes it from a French patisserie feel to modern Australian.
j. C.
5star, why not. I Admit that they were pricey, but I don’t complain about its taste. free sparkling/Still tap water, served with sparkling one in a plate, opportunity to see you have croissants surrounded by strangers who’s having Croissants. They make one of the best Croissants, best team work, quick serve. My French mate said I’m Insane to buy a croissant at almost 10 bucks😅. Only take cards.
R. L.
Best croissants I have had in Melbourne. Perfectly flaky, crispy, buttery. If you want something apart from the original (highly recommended), definitely try the almond croissant, you will not be disappointed.
N. P.
Incredible! The best croissants I’ve tasted to date, the only development I have is there aren’t clear instructions regarding the line up and whether the line is for eat in or also takeaway especially because it was my first time going, now that I’ve been I understand the process but my first time was confusing
S. Y.
The almond croissant is so good! Eat it fresh when you are here! Abit expensive but it’s worth it! I was there at 8am. the queue was manageable and fast. It gets crowded later though
M. N.
Must try in Melbourne. Flaky, Instagram worthy croissants. There is a weird empty space in the middle as all seats are lined up by 3 walls. Makes the experience somewhat disconnected.
Not large group friendly.
Higher price compared to other cafes.
H. W.
Had to try it for myself, to see what was so special about the Croissants here. And I can guarantee you that they won't disappoint you! There are two shops in Melbourne; one in the CBD and the other in Fitzroy. If you've got the time, I would recommend going to the Fitzroy one, as the CBD one has a limited selection.
They've got the all year favourites and some seasonal ones as well. I tried the Almond and the Macadamia white chocolate Croissants. Yes, they are a little pricey, but it is worth a treat and quite filling as well! If by chance you're stuffed halfway, there are bags available to pack and take the rest. Seating is limited, so I wouldn't recommend going with a large crowd, unless you're willing to split the crowd.
A. P.
Croissants are amazing although the coffee wasn't that special. But as it's a croissanterie deserves 5 stars.
r. a.
The croissant was delicious but quite expensive. Coffees were normal. I think they need to work more on it because they can do better. It is not comfortable to work for studying.
L. H.
So many delicious croissants!!!! Love trying the new ones they bring out but our favorites are the lemon curd cruffin and the plain 🥐
G. F.
If you didn't know it already, Lune is hands down the best place in Melbourne for croissants. The whole experience speaks of a clean modern dining. You go in and get out quickly--no set up tables (apart from benches) for cosy chit chats. It's all about the food and they definitely nail it. The plain croissant has got that crisp outer crunch with a tender (but not too buttery) centre, which is simply awesome. The pandan and coconut croissant is a special, and not always available, but you really need to try it. It's probably the best combination croissant. The flavours aren't too dominant so they don't take away from that classic croissant flavour. On the weekend Lune is pretty busy but the wait isn't too long and you can watch the chefs make the croissants which is fun.
J. V.
I came here on a Tuesday morning around 8 am. I forgot that it's only window service on Tuesday and Wednesdays which meant you couldn't see the operation but it almost meant that service was super quick as there weren't as many people there. I got the original and almond croissants as well as the lemon one and they were all super amazing! I'd definitely queue up for them.
M. B.
Ok, there are no word to explain the pleasure one can experience while eating the Almond Croissant.
It not a surprise, because watching how the team working behind the glass can tell the precision and excellence in the making.
NY Times rated it as one of the best Croissant in the word.
My wife and I waited for 40 minutes just before noon on a Saturday. But, it is absolutely worth it.
They accept cash only.
Also, parking is a challenge, prepare for it...
F. G.
Probably the best croissant in the world. Had to wait in line at such early dark hours in winter morning when I visited this bakery. It was defo worth it. I had never had such a crispy croissant like that. Loved the Reuben, filled with tasty pastrami. Loved the almond croissant. But the best of all was the Ham and Gruyere. Super tasty and savory, flaky and buttery.
H. T.
The croissants were pretty good. The jam/cream filled and the lemon curd had just the right amount of tartness vs sweetness. The ham and Gruyere was pretty good too. A bit on the expensive side for croissants though. #maneklady #manekwats #manektravels
M.
On a Saturday morning, the queue was long and extended around the corner. But the wait (around 30 min) was worth it. Croissant (a thin crispy skin, distinct layers and airy), Almond croissant, lemon tart are all outstanding. Service is friendly and attentive.
B. N.
I've known Kate and Cam for a while. I used to go to their Elwood shop which was tinier than the current Fitzroy bakery. They are the most dedicated individuals to their craft. I have been reading unsatisfactory comments regarding waiting times. Keep in mind that these croissants take at least 3 days to bake from start to finish, and they get it to your hands FRESH from the tray. After all, they got praised by the New York Times. Who wouldn't wait for that?
A. N.
Had to line up but it moved at a decent speed. Good croissants, difficult to find seating in peak, IG worthy photos, my personal opinion is that it would not be a place I'd line up for again any time soon
I. c.
The classic original croissant tells the story! It is buttery, fluffy and light! Best match with a nice cup of coffee, such a right choice to pick black this time to pair. Will come next time for the lemon curd cruffin 🍋
S. Z.
Great croissants and lovely atmosphere, was a pleasure watching the staff make the pastries. Highly recommend the original and chocolate one!
J. G.
The best almond croissant of my life. Unsure if the places I went to in France were just subpar ooor.. but legitimately the most delicious croissant. There is a line though, my friend and I waited 20 minutes at roughly 10am.
T.
The wife's idea to swing by post brunch.
Long line but as everyone has said in their reviews it's worth the wait.
We bought the traditional and almond croissants, lemon curd cruffin and the February special 'The Elvis Sandwich.'
Everything crispy yet fluffy and most importantly delicious.
The Elvis has a pretty wild flavour combination (peanut butter, banana, bacon...etc) but I loved it.
S. E.
Fantastic croissaints and good coffee. There was a small queue on a weekday and usually a massive one on weekends and they tend to sell out in a few hours. Best crossaints we've had around so far in Melbourne.
As of 20th August, Lune Croissanterie no longer accepts cash payments - only card payments.
Note that on Tuesdays the store is close for entry but croissaints are sold via a small hatch on the street wall.
B. M.
The best almond croissant in Melbourne! The filling has a slightly lemony flavour that is to die for. Be ready for a line and a wait even if you go before they open. Also at a higher price point than some other bakeries. Worth the wait and the money!
N. A.
Excellent croissants. Highly aesthetic location, Instagram-worthy. There won't be much of a queue during weekdays, but be prepared to queue for about an hour on weekends. Went twice, once on a weekday and once on a weekend. There is no proper seating, but it makes up for that as it helps to speed up the queue.
Ordered the original, pain au chocolat, ham gruyere, banana cruffin, kouign amann. All were tasty, though I'd be more inclined to the ham gruyere and kouign amann. Try to drop by during weekdays if possible.
J. H.
Croissants we never even dreamed of because we didn’t know such thing could visit in the world. We got one of each flavor and we’re so glad we did because you just can’t get enough. The original is perfectly flaky and fluffy, the pecan has all the flavors of a pecan pie in croissant form, the almond is nutty and crunchy... be sure to get there before you get too hungry because there will be a line.
J. P.
The best croissant I've had to date. Lemon curd was my favourite. My ranking goes:
1) Lemon Curd
2) Plain croissant. The O.G
3) Ham & Gruyere
4) Spanakopita
Yes we were hungry.
J. C.
The croissants are sublime. Lune has really taken this pastry to a new art form. These will not be the cheapest croissants, but if you consider the work that goes into them and how delicious they are, I think they are worth the price as a treat now and then.
M.
The monthly special croissants are really interesting and inventive (pretzel peanut butter!!) but there are better plain croissants and pain au chocolates in Melbourne. Kouign-amann was amazing, one of the best we've had 👌
M. H. s.
Highly recommended!!!
Visited a day earlier around 2:40 pm after driving for almost an hour but had to come back without trying anything since they were completely sold out. One of the guys suggested to come at 7:30 if we would like to beat the line when it opens at 8:00 am
Next day we were able to make it though long queues but we made it! Ordered all types of croissants and coffee you can’t go wrong as each croissant is made to perfection but my personal favourite was almond
-.
Wow! The first time we visited we took home one of every type of croissant they made. Heaven on earth.
The spectacle of a glass box open kitchen was quite dramatic. Great for curious kids.
Over repeat visits we have found the staff caring and attentive.
J. K.
One of the best croissants I’ve ever eaten. The pastry is just phenomenal. Super crunchy on the outside and delicious, full of flavour! Love the variety of flavours available. Will have to try the whole menu one day.
C. C.
Croissants were out of this world! If you love cinnamon you’ve got to get the cinnamon croissant. Coffee was great too! There might be a little wait.
U. J.
Can not say I did not like their croissants but for me they are overpriced and Almond croissant was too sweet the traditional ones though were good
A.
Really enjoy this place, it's a bit on the expensive side, and the line up on the weekends might put you off, but if you can swing past during the week or nice and early in the morning and treat yourself to some really good croissants it's worth it. Hands down favourite is ham and gruyere.
J. C.
Got there at 815am and there were a few customers having their pastries there. Definitely visit during the weekdays as it is less crowded.
Croissant was good, much better than your typical standard croissant you find around town. However i prefer a stronger butter taste in my croissant. This was light and crispy.
C. R.
Fresh delicious warm croissants with a variety of flavours that change daily. Prepare to wait, but worth it. Coffee available as well as seating however there isn’t enough for large groups.
S. B.
The croissants were very nice, they look fantastic and have a great butter taste. We were quite disappointed in the experience though, this because we were expecting a range of products. When we got to the front of the line, only the plain croissant was left. We did get there just before midday (didn’t thank that was too late)I recommend that you head there early. We will be heading back there again (taste was worth it), but earlier next time.
G. G.
Thanks to Lune Croissant, I finally found something similar to Nettle & Knead in Adelaide. Freshly made, delisiouse and beautiful. The place is amazing and you enjoy the level of technology inside an old warehouse. Service also was very nice and welcoming
#melbourne #lunecroissant #Nettle&Knead #croissant
D. L.
Croissant is way too good to be true!!!
flaky with the correct amount of layers, melts in your mouth
their cbd store is rather small but good enough for afternoon coffee time.
service was good and fast !!
M. P.
Yeah, these pastries are hyped. But, it's because they are so good. Peas in a sweet pastry worked so well and so smart. Obviously a wagon wheel themed pastry was going to work, but it was out of this world.
E. I.
The best croissants you’ll get out of Paris! But, try them for yourself!
J. L.
There's a reason this tucked away place has a queue out the door at 9.30am on a weekday - the croissants are special. Enjoy sticky-beaking at the kitchen activities enclosed in a fishbowl while speeding through the queue. Succumbed to gluttony and bought 3 croissants after seeing the line up at the registers.
Challenge accepted finding a rare spot on the bench in this spacious converted warehouse. Savoured the amazing flavours of the coconut and pandan croissant and discovered it was a meal in itself. Washed it down with a Mork hot chocolate and be defeated by eyes bigger than the stomach syndrome. So full Chapters 2 and 3 to be continued at home.
For lunch surrendered to the Kouign Amann both in pronunciation and experience. This scroll was laminated with caramelised butter and sugar. Sooo delicious but it was another meal in itself.
Hours later it was time to meet the Mint Slice. Fans of the chocolate biscuit will find haven here. This prettily decorated version was almost more biscuit than croissant. The final bite saw the onset of food coma.
Went running a few hours later to ease the guilt of today's decadence... but enjoyed every mouthful of this multi-hour experience.
A. S.
Waited for 30 mins in the queue. Prices are steep but food is just a little better than average. Almond was a little sweet. Chocolate was pathetic. Best was the ham and cheese. Should have ordered 2 of it instead of the almond, but it cost $10 per piece. Coffee is so so. Had better ones elsewhere. Note: Can only pay by card
j. v. r.
This place has a unique atmosphere for a bakery. The entrance and look of the bakery is extraordinary. You can see the production process going on in the glass room in the middle of the building (see picture) they serve coffee and of course Croissant. The service of the people here is average, you order at the cash counter and if you eat in they serve it at your table. The Croissant itself was for me just like any other Croissant, it maybe had a process of 3 days and served in a really old style bakery, but it stays just a croissant.
M. M.
Amazing croissants, they range from $5-12 so don't expect Woolworth prices. However you are paying for quality, they are impeccably hand crafted and baked to perfection. The taste is always phenomenal and a true testament to their commitment to quality and out of the box flavours.
A. R.
I went there before they open. I was 3rd in line. By the time the shop opens, there was a long line so my advice is to go early. They opened a new shop in CBD so most likely the Fitzroy shop will be less crowded. My personal fav will be the Almond croissant but a bit sweet to some people.
L. M.
Delicious croissants. We went at a quiet time, but they could do with more seating. Was great to see bakers making these delicious treats.
E. M.
Every aspect of Lune has been been carefully curated. From it's sleek store layout to the minimal menu, Lune has an understated confidence in the experience it delivers.
The pastries available exceeded my expectations. Yes, lune's menu is quite small, yet effort has clearly been put into each item deserving it's place. Every pastry is unique from the next, so be prepared for several trips to fully experience their menu.
B. Z.
Lune has the best croissants! Their almond croissant is really yummy! Every time we crave a good croissant or Danish pastry, we opt for none other than Lune!
S.
The best of best croissants!!! Highly recommend to sit at the bar. Cafe is really clean and neat.
M.
Flaky croissants that are crispy on the outside and soft/moist on the inside. We went for the Lune Lab and it was a lovely, very fulfilling experience!
T. W.
THE BEST. It does not get any better. My fav is the almond croissant, but also can’t go past the standard croissant. Just get one of everything can’t go wrong.
A. M.
Amazing of course. Although quite sickly really. But you just have to go to experience the planet's best croissant (allegedly). Very cool idea and interior. The originator of this idea apparently is a female aerospace engineer who went to Paris to learn the craft and then perfected it using her engineering skills. A friend of my work colleague. It was a cool experience to go there.
J. K.
Modern warehouse conversion into huge cafe/prepping/tasting plates long table/viewing the process of cutting, stretching, folding pastry, into a variety of croissants. Busy buzz, you may need to line up for them & may have to sit in the Street to enjoy, or take home, its that popular! We didn’t try the coffee, other reviews didn’t encourage me to try the coffee.
N.
Woww - I did not expect to find the best croissants in the world in Melbourne, but they truly are the best croissants I've ever had! This nondescript establishment is quite literally a hole in the wall - you could completely miss the black hatch walking by. Must try the plain croissants and the double baked almond croissants - to die for. The hours are odd (they close when they run out) but do whatever it takes to go - you won't regret it!
T. F.
This has to be the best croissant I ever had
Hard to beat them on its taste and quality
E. H.
Lovely croissants of high quality and skill, however we arrived at 10:15am and all flavours had sold out apart from the usual plain, choc & almond. Very disappointing.. maybe needs better planning/ organising? Obviously it's a very popular place for valid reasons but the whole experience is very quick and rushed.
T. T.
It's Saturday morning, just finished running and I deserve a gold breaky. Arrived at the shop queue was savage at 9 AM. However, we managed to scoot over the queue pretty quickly - trust me, it's worth the wait! Ordered some of the ham and cheese croissants. Man, best ever. Crusty from the outside, soft warm savoury inside. Apparently, the taste was original and nothing I ever tried before. Really good!
G. S.
Outstanding selection of croissants and pastries, ranging from the classic to glorious and indulgent creations, such as the chocolate and peanut butter croissant! All made to perfection. They make a pretty damn good coffee to accompany your sweet treat of choice. Staff are friendly and service is prompt. Recommend visiting 100%
e. m.
This place is one of a kind in entire Melbourne and a must visit if you're in Melbourne and want to taste some amazing crossiants. The crossiants are made fresh daily and are amazing. Weekends are always busy here, and you'll see long queues if you don't reach early. So make sure you plan accordingly.
K. L.
One of those "must-visits" in Melbourne. The croissants here are life changing. Any better, you'd have to go to France. Try to book for a degustation tasting two months prior to your visit!
C. K.
We had to queue to get in! About 45(?) Mins. We are lucky it was a lovely day. We bought one of each. There were 7 varieties today. Price ranged from $5.90 for traditional to $15.50 for the black forest one which was v elaborate. They were v yum. You could see the guys rolling the pastry. Cool set up. Yup would go back and do recommend everyone to try it.
S. T.
The 🥐 was good but definitely overhyped with all the reviews and price. This is one of the best in Melbourne CBD but definitely not in Australia.
The atmosphere in the has the clean industrial looks and Bakers preparing 🥐 and the smell of freshly baked ones attracts passerby’s which was hard to resist(me)
I had the original ones and the classic chocolate . Both are really flaky and honestly, 🥐done right! With the layers and how light and fluffy they are.
d.
If you like queueing up for your food even if you arrive early in the morning, this is the place for you. The croissants here are pricy and to be honest not really worth it. I mean it tastes pretty good but not for the price and time it takes to get it.
M. M.
I didn't expect this kind of bakery cafe.
It was cool atmosphere and the taste of croissant was so good.
You can see the process of making them through the glass!!
F. Y.
Very lovely staff! Ham cheese croissant would have been way better if it was warm. Other items were good but probably not worth the 30min line up and a bit pricey. Good to kill some time on a weekend which I suspect is their target market.
L. A.
What can I say? The fuss is a true! Absolutely amazing place! Heads down to your Cam Reid. I am horrendous croissant freak and this place was more than I imagined! I would move to Melbourne for this!
Try them all! Spend the money! Best spend calories ever 😂
Also GREAT COFFEE.. worth the wait, money, travel... ❤️❤️
M. O.
You may have heard about how they have the best croissants in Melbourne and I'd have to agree. I haven't had better since trying out their pastry. Are they expensive? Incredibly so but they deliver consistent world class quality every time. I've also experienced good friendly service which makes a world of difference when you're paying these high prices.
E. Q.
Hands down some of the best croissants we’ve had. Deliciously crispy and flakey on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. Price was a bit steep for the almond croissant and the ham and cheese ($9.00 each), but well worth the cost. Waited approximately 15-20 mins at 11am on a Sunday morning, but they had already started running out of flavors by the time we got there. Highly recommend.
K. P.
After working in France we can tell you that these are absolutely incredibly delicious BUT in Europe you’d pay $4 for the same thing. $15 for a croissant is VERY expensive.
E. M.
I came all the way from Sydney, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place. First of all, I’m not a bread guy, but this place really lives up to my expectations.
The croissant is incredibly soft and crispy. When the first bite breaks the croissant, you can even taste the buttery air inside.
Will get this again before my flight back.
A.
Tried many times but first time dine in. What a way to start my day with such amazing place, good croissant and coffee.
A.
Tried this place once to see what the hype was all about. Croissants were definitely delicious! Although, having to pay twice the price might make you think twice. Tasty but definitely not value for money...
J. B.
The art of the croissant. It's hard to believe that such care and focus into a single menu item could garner so much attention but forensic lab precision gives way to friendly service and a menu just big enough for you to have to come back to try them all. Be mindful, served freshly baked you will also just have to have what they have when you arrive. Are they the best croissants in the world? Quite possibly.
T. B.
This place is massively hyped but it's largely deserved. The building and space is really nice. I love that you can watch the bakers. The industrial fit out is really cool and one of the first brunch places I know that did it this way. The service is good but it gets so busy that the experience ends up being pretty stressful. The coffee is really good and the basic pastries are maybe the best I've had. The sweeter stuff (almond / peanut butter croissant etc) is pretty sickly, I think they've got the proportions way off. Stick with the plain croissants and you'll be happy
N. M.
Look, croissants are nice, but I have certainly had their equal at much better prices and FAR quicker service. Having passed the place yesterday and seen the queue I went back this morning at opening time and there was a queue of about 30 people outside. Fine I thought, shouldn’t take too long. 35 minutes later I got served. Also, $9.20 for an almond croissant is too much.
금.
It was nice. I prefer without the flavour of orange in the almomd crroisant but nice texture. Very clean pastry kitchen. Worth to try. Remind you that only card available for paying.
L. S.
Quality products, the almond croissant was good (filling was to much sweet), the gruyere and ham was excellent. But the croissant at the front without covering it ... I'm not sure but it didn't comply with the standard of handling and transportation. Quite expensive by the way.
S. K.
Incredible croissants, really cool pastry making warehouse with pastry chefs working in view! A must visit. This would have been a 5 star experience if the croissants were warm :)
C. H.
Nice Croissant but the stuff inside are too sweet n they have no time to clean the table .Sold out so early, only got Almond fav on that day at 2:30 n sold out in 5mins .please go there earlier for more fav choses
F. H.
The highest quality croissants I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. The almond croissant has to be my favorite out of the tempting selection of pastries. Expect a queue even prior to openning hours.
X. T.
Allegedly the "best croissant in the world". Queued half an hour for it. Legend has it that the bakery was founded by an aerospace engineer. Hence the croissants are made with precision. Dough is flattened by machine, measured by ruler before cutting, weighed with a machine and curled in specific manner (through my observation of the open concept industrial theme kitchen). Alas, I sanked my teeth into the fabled varnished croissant and found it to be very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. But the missing fragrance and buttery taste did not escape my notice. All my fantasy for the legendary croissant came crashing down. For all its worth, I give it a 4 out of 5.
R. M.
Its been since Lockdown started in Melbourne that I have been here and I was so happy to be able to buy my favourite croissants... I was not disappointed, I would recommend Lune to anyone.
B. T. P.
Hands down the best almond croissant I've tasted. The team at Lune are the true masters. Excellent and creative flavours in a beautiful space, just be prepared to wait a long time and pay a premium. That being said, I keep going back for more. So delicious
w. E.
Have almond croissant and pecan croissant, they’re soooo good , just the melting fillings are a bit sweet for me. But, I mean, who doesn’t like the sweetness when it comes to croissant?!
P. U.
Well worth the "hype". There's a bit of a wait but it's fully worth the wait. Especially with the great customer service. Seats get filled very quickly but there's quite a bit of waiting options. Just make sure to move out quickly once to let others enjoy the experience.
Y. S. W.
Nice buzz and not overly price. But the croissants are way too sweet and not buttery enough. Taste better heated up. Coffee is a bit bland and pretty cold by the time it reaches our table.
f. t.
Overrated and overpriced. The crossiant aint bad but its way too buttery. The open kitchen is a nice touch. It's located quite some distance from the city. There are seats around but the place gets quite crowded.
R. Y.
If you come to Melbourne and you don't get a box of croissants, you don't count visiting Melbourne. Best croissant in Australia! It took us 30 minutes to queue but it is worthed to fly from Sydney to Melbourne and queue for 30 minutes wait!
P. L.
Lune upholds the world's best croissant status. Whole family favourite was the new addition Banhmi croissant. Also best cos it has a very courteous and quick service. Line was only 5 minutes
E. N.
Croissant is perfect - fluffy and creamy. It smells so good as well. Original croissant is highly recommended although you can get varities of stuffings as well. NB: Take away only on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A. B.
Best croissants in Melbourne hands down
A. O.
One of the best patisseries in Melbourne!
Absolutely love their croissant selection, namely the ham + gruyere, almond and the chocolate croissant (Pain au Chocolat). Coffee is great. Light and crispy pastry and just the right amount of filling.
Pricing is a little on the expensive side. Apparently there is a sit down degustation menu at the bar, but did not have the chance to try due to exhausted tickets for the month.
Make sure to get there before the shop opens! Variants run out from time to time. Always a queue around the corner of the shop. Be prepared to wait in the cold during the cooler months outside.
Overall great space and atmosphere. Definitely worth the wait.
V. B.
The croissants are tasty although there are not enough seating areas inside. Unfortunately, the almond croissant had sold out when I went there. They are very expensive although good for a one time experience. The architecture of the place is cool.
K. S.
Excellent almond croissant the only kind left unfortunately but it was 13.30
S. L.
We had the traditional, ham & gruyere, almond and black forest croissants. The traditional croissant was the most outstanding. Each bite was heavenly, like eating a golden crispy cloud.
I was not a huge fan of the black forrest. I wish it used fresh cherries. Cherries are one of my favourite fruits, but I really despite maraschino cherries.
V. R.
The best croissants in Melbourne. There is just no argument about who makes the best croissants Melbourne. If you haven’t been down to the temperature controlled glass box (18 degrees) where they pump out a kazzillion croissants a week- you’re missing out on all the fun.
K. p.
I'm a big fan of crispy flaky buttery almond croissant and bought the almond croissant today for hubby which he enjoyed so much. It's safe to say that it was up to his 'standard'.
I didn't answer when he asked the price though. 😅
S. R.
Love Lune! Amazing Birthday Croissant. Always a new special. Service is OK. Coffee is perfect.
G. F.
Very popular open kitchen bakery just off Brunswick street.
Food was good as it should be for the price it is being sold. Coffee was also good.
Personally I found the space was poorly utilised however perhaps that’s the ambience of “buy, consume, leave” they were aiming for?
Feels a bit faddy so we will see if the business model has longevity.
Worth a visit if you are on Brunswick st but I’d probably not cross town for this place.
F. K.
Cool place to hang out. I love that the croissant are freshly baked out of the oven, and there is a fish tank to observe the kitchen activities. Staff customer service is prompt and seating is sufficient.
L. B. (.
Enjoyed the croissant but coming from France I was shocked by the price... probably wouldn’t be that expensive if not for the hipster vibe IMO. Great experience anyway! Would come back to try other flavors
K. W. T.
Got myself the almond one ($9) which was so good. Crispy on the outside with almond, but soft on the inside with a layer of caramel filled (I think). Went on Sunday 1pm and queued for 10mins before I got myself to the cashier and the original ones were sadly sold out. Will definitely be back for the original ones and perhaps, the ham one.
K. &. D. A.
A classic Melbourne establishment -- very over-hyped albeit delicious. Know you'll have fight the queues and if you get there too late, you may miss out on your favourites! They do know how to make a legit croissant, though ;)
N. L.
Standards have slipped and size of the croissants have shrunk. Not the best in Melbourne anymore I'm afraid!
k.
French Touch to our taste buds in Southern Hemisphere... Just Lune it guys. All time best and now serve with 100% hygiene and 1000% social distancing.
K. W.
Go as early as possible! No wait time ;)
Had the Twice Baked Mocha, Twice Baked Almond, and the Pear Cruffin. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! Best croissants in Melbourne.
R. M.
Best croissants ever. Light, flaky and glossy pastry that tastes divine. Great to see the croissants being freshly made. Go early and be prepared to wait.
F. A.
Great croissant and nice and friendly service from the staff. Highly recommended!
Y.
Pricey but absolutely delicious. The Kougn Amann was spot on, and the ham and cheese croissant was super tasty. Beautiful decor - industrial concrete with modern glass and steel. Lots of huge empty space but no tables or conventional seating - you'll end up sitting on the few benches along wall or on the concrete floor.
D. F.
Good service, delicious croissants, but pricy!
The almond croissant was exceptional, very well presented and full of flavour.
F. T.
Pretty simplistic setup - amidst all the hype people give it, there’s not much towards in-house seating. Coffee is from a local north melb roaster Small Batch...
S. F.
The only place where I’ll line up for a croissant. It’s so worth it! My favorite was the coconut one w chocolate filling.
A. N.
Loved the croissants here. Tried the Ham and Gruyere one and the four cheese one in their savoury range and the almond croissant and chocolate one in the sweet range. Croissants were fresh and melted in the mouth. Coffee was really good as well. Waiting for the long promised Sydney store to open.
R. M.
I always have an incredible experience at Lune but recently they went above and beyond. I came to Lune to buy croissants for a friend who was going through an incredibly traumatic ordeal (croissants help everything!) and when I told the cashier how grateful I was too have access to such delicious croissants for exactly this purpose, she went out of her way to ensure that our experience was as wonderful as possible. My friend was beyond thrilled when I told her what had happened.
Thanks for creating out of this world croissants, and the customer experience to go along with it!
L. V.
My favourite croissant place in Melbourne. They have the best croissant (in my opinion) and the quality is always on top
O. N.
Expect a queue but wasn’t too long, about 20 minutes perhaps. Tried the chocolate, traditional and almond. Our almond croissant wasn’t warm enough which was abit of a let down, hence the 4 star. The chocolate and traditional one did make up for it tho.
N. Y.
Obviously doing croissants right! Coffee was good too. Our non coffee drinker was sad there wasn't tea options but the baked goods made up for it. Definitely on the pricier side (almost $10 for the almond criossant) but one could argue, worth every flake. The take away boxes are of high quality!
C. f. N.
come here often but the special of the month was a honey croissant as was super crazy amazing!
J. “. S.
Their croissants are simply amazing. My favourite is the Orange Poppy Seed one.
Brought several mates from Sydney and overseas, and they absolutely loved the croissants.
T. B.
I don't know about the best croissants in the world, but they were definitely the best I've ever had! I went here every morning until I tried them all and I have to say, the almond croissant was my favorite.
D. M.
Things to do in Melbourne... *Tick* awesome croissants and interesting place but uninviting to stay. Take your pastry and coffee elsewhere... Not worth staying... Somehow I think they prefer it that way.
V. K.
A disappointment. We arrived on Tuesday at 11am in Fitzroy and the only option we had was a plain croissant. Yes, it was a nice, flakey croissant but we wanted to try the other options on the menu. There were other options being wheeled out on trollers into a van the whole time we were there - they looked nice. Would have been nicer to try. The experience means I sadly wouldn’t go back. Melbourne is a foodies’ paradise and I’ve had better experiences in many other patisseries, cafes and restaurants.
M. F.
The best crossaints ever ever ever!!!! Come early and get the different variations of crossaint it sells out. Regardless, nothing beats the classic plain crossaint.
W. C.
Good service, good croissants, good coffee, good atmosphere 😊👍. Price is high but worth it. However, it would be nice if the croissants could be heated up.
E. C.
Best pastries I've ever had. The OG croissant were flaky and buttery while the almond and macadamia ones were filled to the brim with nuts. Best to arrive relatively early and buy in bulk. They're also relatively good reheated the next day (if done right)
C. K.
Really good crossaints and pastries, however I don't think it should take such a long time to serve baked goods.. Its not like they have to cook anything to order ! The wait is simply not worth it in my opinion.
E. H.
Long queue, but amazing croissants
And awesome coffee
You can have more various types of croissants comparing with CBD place.
b. s.
Super crispy outside and tender inside... N generous almond on top... Too bad, its not tourist friendly when they change to cashless.. i think they only do take away on monday n tuesday..
B.
The best croissant I have ever had. A must visit. The hand and cheese croissant is to die for. Just absolutely divine. If you come to Melbourne you just have to try it.
F. K.
We were quite unlucky during our first visit as the croissants are sold out. We came back the other day and the line was already very long at 9am, however the fast and efficient service make up for it. The croissants are indeed very good. Do try the almond one.
S. C.
Fresh croissants and pastries in an industrial warehouse type of place, though it is fairly expensive for what you get. Not many spots in terms of seating. Service was friendly and efficient.
S. R.
Always love my visit to Lune. Even though the place is always busy the staff are great and very friendly. Perfect Croissants and pastries. You deserve to spoil yourself and visit Lune.
D. L.
The best Croissants in the world! Long long waiting time but worth it as long as they still have all the croissants you want left. I have been told if you go first when they open the wait is not long. I recently placed an ad on airtasker for someone to line up, get the Croissants I want and have them delivered home. It ended up costing $78 for four Croissants but was well worth it as they are amazing and I didn't have to cross the Yarra and line up!
Q. Y. C.
My favourite bakery in Melbourne. Nice croissant. It's very crunchy and well baked. Need to go early as it closed once sold out. Only card payment only.
R. V.
We've been coming to Lune since 2013. My husband's favorite is the Reuben and my favorite is still the traditional croissant. The Reuben is not available anymore but the other offerings are delicious as well. If you want a unique dining experience, then try their popular Lune Lab, where staff will create tasty offerings outside their regular menu. Mind you, there are only 8 places for Lune Lab so it sells out quickly. You have to check their website regularly to know when and what time you can book.
若.
super nice especially croffle(croissant in the shape of waffle )
R.
Without a doubt, these are amazing croissants. Having frequented the place a few times, like many of the other bad reviews have highlighted, the customer service is so bad 🤢 sometimes it's OK but most of the time it's short, sharp, snappy with no sense of happiness in the person who is serving. Like working there is morbid affair and they're emotionally taking it out on you. I'd be pretty happy to be surrounded by so many yummy croissants.
E. O.
Insanely good croissant.. Pride of Melbourne..
R. K.
Definitely amazing croissants. My favorite are their set of CRUFFINS! They are delicious and the perfect size. Honestly 1 is enough to knock you out. Their coffee wasn't the best but definitely okay by Melbourne standards. Having said that, I can't get over their croissants. Their space in Fitzroy is also very cool and unique. Definitely a great place to go out and try. There is a massive line out of the door usually. Highly recommend you get here 15 mins earlier than their start time. Otherwise be prepared to eat in your own cars and just get some takeaway! I loved their service too. Excellent service. Very fast.
r.
One of the best croissant, I tried almond, turkish delight and vegemite. The vegemite is quite average. But almond was amazing, crispy soft buttery sweet, tukish delight was very new, and i loved how they put chunks of turkish delights inside. But expensive but defs worth the money. Just want them to have more comfortable seats. Even though i liked their idea.
0. S.
Credit card only. No cash
Maybe more nice bakery in your town.
Fast get, fast eat and out.
NO comfortable seat inside. Oops.....
If you eat croissants, recommand basics.
R. K.
You're immediately greeted with a queue snaking around the corner, so go early if possible. The wait is worth it.
While you're queuing, there will be a kind gentlemen who offers amazing takeout coffee from the shop's cafe.
They serve a variety of pastries, from croissants to pain au Chocolat and kouign-aman. Out of all that I tried, the classic for me was the best. Flaky, buttery, and a tinge of sweetness.
Lune serves amazing pastries, that of French standards. For about $6-$10 for the croissants, it is pricey, but it is worth the queue and money
S. L.
Love their croissant! Would definitely come back here again 😍😍
b. v.
It is absolutely a great place to have Croissant.
Various of different yummy taste. Love it😍
R. G.
Best in melbourne...Going on a weekday and early will help getting you most croissants.
R. T.
Staff are friendly and the place has a good ambience. It may be a little out of the way but its worth it. The croissants are amazing. You need to buy at least 5 croissants to get the box; thats if you want to take pictures.
P. T.
Impeccable croissants and okay.. coffee. Definitely recommend a takeout if people queuing up in the store
T. O.
Indeed the best croissants 🥐 I’ve ever had. A bit out of the way but worth the trouble
L. L.
Seriously ... The precision that goes into making a croissant is stellar ... Especially when you can see them make it. This is worth the visit
D. J.
I gave 3 star only because of the service I received from a particular staff. The product was fantastic. I give my highest regards to the bakery team. However, the customer service from this particular staff should be trained more in relation to be professional and attitude-less. Coming from a background with 10 year hospitality and retail experience, I understand how a busy working environment can do to staff, which therefore require staff to have more mentality and patience. Good customer service is hard to maintain and to maintain a consistently high level of customer service is even harder. I hope I made myself. Again, this is not an insult but a good wish for you guys to have even better business.
A. T.
Fresh, crispy and yummy. Wouldn't wait in line for 1- 2 hrs for it though. Still prefer the pastries in Paris at 6am, no crowds no queues, just the way it should be.
C. C.
Stunning setting one block away from Brunswick street. Exposed brick walls and steel beams surround the central rolling area for the croissants. Expect to pay at least $6 for a croissant.
H. B.
Best croissant I've ever had. A bit expensive but you definitely get what you pay for here.
N. A.
Can’t get enough croissants when you come to Lune !
R. B.
Loved it! Fresh croissants being made behind glass windows. Good coffee and delicious almond croissant.
A. D.
I think Lune was a perfect example of when hype generates unrealistic expectations. The queue for the CBD store was unending on a Sunday morning and I’m wondering whether anyone in it had previously tried Lune’s croissants and felt it was worth an hour-long wait. We had the plain and almond, and felt rather underwhelmed even with that internal positive bias you tend to have when trying to justify how long you’d stood in line. It definitely wasn’t bad, but I would suggest ordering online if you really want to give it a try.
T. A.
Everyone was raving about this place, we waited for 5minutes. Everything was crispy, fresh and inviting. I loved it all! Their coffee was great too, a must see!
M. R.
Great bakery with "hipster" vibe in a warehouse. Crossaints are great but still value for money is only good. Nevertheless awesome treat once in a while. Try to come here during the week as its gets crazy busy on the weekend.
R. L. T.
The only croissants you would go to the moon and back for!
N. H.
I spent fifteen dollars on this --
-- by accident, because I didn't see the "1" and thought it was "$5.95".
And do you know what? It was terrific. Just terrific. I have no idea what it was, or how a croissant could possibly taste this good, but here we are.
W. H.
Definitely the best croissants in Mel, should be try the almond croissant, awesome!!!
C. V.
We jogged there on a weekday morning, lucky got no queue. Service was great :) Had the almond and coffee 👍🏻👍🏻
L.
great fresh croissants!! unique cafe in a large space. people make long queue.
c. s.
Very yummy and worth the wait . Friendly and helpful staff. Loved the sticky date croissant. Highly recommended .
C. C.
Best croissant I've had in Melb. Waited in line for about 20 mins, but well worth it. The staff was very attentive, croissants and coffees were served promptly. Beautifully designed space to observe the masters at work. Will definitely visit again.
G. A.
We managed to skip the queue as we turned up at 2pm. We therefore missed out on the classics. Tried the almond and coconut pandan croissants. They were absolutely delicious. $10 each 🤤🤤
S. H.
Amazing croissants in a large open space served with great coffee. Definitely a must go while in Melbourne.
M. A. P.
Nice croissants!! The only cons is the long queue you have to do just to buy, even if it’s for take away.
d.
I am speechless!! This takes decadence to the next level!!! Forget about the calories or the fat content. Just enjoy the party that builds in your mouth! Your tastebuds will work overtime! Best to come reeeeal early like 30min before they open!! 7.30am! Cus it will run out in a few hrs time. Tried the chocolate crossaint, the lemon curd, almond twice baked and kaya pandan coconut!! Still can't decide which is better!!!
A. L.
The most amazing crossiants you'll ever try in Melbourne.
The outside is crisp and flakey, the inside was soft and had an ever slightly chewy bite to it.
Thw ham and cheese crossiant was so damn good. Generous amount of ham and that nutty earthy taste of the gruyere cheese... *drools*
Tad on the pricier side but highly recommend at least trying a crossiant from here.
C. T.
Ordered 4 x baklava kouign amann for take away and found they all stick together and I can't share them anymore 😔
F. A.
There are no words to describe the amazingness that is Lune. The best croissants around.
N.
Long lines, pricey croissants but I’d say it was worth it! Best croissants I’ve ever tasted!!
M. Y.
You can smell the aroma of butter in the air as soon as you get close! Some of the best croissants in Australia. Light, flaky, buttery and crispy. Pricey but well worth it. I've tried all of their croissants and all are delicious. Great coffee too.
C. H.
Its pretty hard to get a seat especially if u are going in a group. Love the experience and the croissant!!! Especially the almond
A. U.
Best croissant in melb really like the almond; Must try when bisiting melbourne; A littlr bit premium and somewhat a killer line to get the croissant; If thts not a caveat for you then go ahead !
A. S.
Their croissants are amazing.
We tried three different tastes, all of them were good.
K. o.
This place just ruined croissants elsewhere for me! Careful.....the bill adds up quickly.
S. P.
Love their arrangement when sitting in and found them efficient when taking away during lockdown. Go there!
J. C.
Lovely experience with great coffee and croissants. Order the almond ones, those tasted awesome!
z. z.
These are hands down the best croissants I’ve ever tried and one of the best food experiences of my life. We tried the chocolate, almond, and twice baked mocha croissants. Each croissant was unique and every croissant was as good as the next, impossible to have a favourite as they were all of standout quality. Ordering online for pickup was easy, although I would have liked the opportunity to order up to 7 days in advance. Once the order was done instructions were sent and pickup went very smoothly. This will be the first of many visits, really can’t recommend highly enough.
R. Y.
The flavour croissant always sold out quickly, but I think tradition one is the best. Coffee is great as well :) Believe me don't come here during busy time.
E. W.
Amezing croissants! I think it is the best croissant on the world!! Never taste like that good!
J. E.
As a rumored about how they run out their croissant quickly. I went there 10 o'clock they have only "traditional" left. If you want to try other items please come here earlier.
E. C.
Best croissant ever! Love the classic one, very very crispy and yummy! Almond is nice too, but classic still the best! <3
d.
Trendy and cool place... However, the croissant is not as buttery as I was expecting and for a small "plain" croissant, it's expensive! After having said that, it's flaky and baked to perfection and nothing comes close to this in Melbourne.
s.
If you never seen how the pastry is made, it's good to see. In this particular cafe you can see bakes through the glass working. Attention is paid to the details. But if you go across the street in the corner there's a tiny little cafe and they do the same if not better for half that price and with a table to sit down 😂
S. H.
Always worth the trek.
Managed to snatch the last carrot cake croissant today.
L. W.
Omg.. Fresh croissants. Must also try the almond croissant 🥐
D. L.
Amazing array of croissant pastry baked goods....went the babka today... although base pain au chocalate hard to beat...
M. B.
Best pastries so far
I’ve searched far and wide and been let down until this point
I’m sure there’s better out there as the selection I’ve had from Lune while very very good, was still not perfect
But the current form from the other players puts Lune firmly at number 1 for me
Get there early to avoid disappointment, or go to a lesser place and expect it...
Or head into the city store and try your luck
C. R.
There were only two options available. But it was my fault, came 5 minutes after they closed. Their croissants are amazing. My personal favorite is the gruyere 🤤
C. F.
Amazing pastries, but they are expensive and the queue can be long. You can see them being made in front of you. Well worth the visit.
M. B.
Cool experience, great venue, good location and very good service but the food is a little over-rated and over-priced.
S. A.
Keep Lune @ Fitzroy on your bucket list! The most delicious pastry i have had in my life...
K. S.
Beautiful selection of croissants and pastries. Best to get in early as there can be a line and flavours do sell out.
A. G.
I've never eaten a croissant that delicious before, I would recommend getting there early, by 12:30pm they were nearly sold out of everything, there was also a queue when we arrived but it was definietly worth the wait.
A. T.
Some of the best croissants. Call me boring but the original plain croissant is the best, can actually taste the butter and the pastry. Practically what you'd get in France.
H. S.
Nice environment and delicious croissants. But price is expensive a little bit.
T. M.
Simply the best croissant in Australia so far! Worth a detour when in Melbourne... They're that good !
D. L.
tasty crosant 6 dollars a world gastrnoci desction crontant is light crispy with sourness of day old dough made with french butter rolled in.
T. T.
My favourite croissant shop, I always order one almond, one ham&cheese and one new flavour.
B. T.
Best croissants in Melbourne , you will not be disappointed
G. Y.
We love Lune croissants but very disappointed to see an unmasked LUNE delivery guy dropping off the box at our front door
M. L.
Really nice croissant but to be honest nothing out of this world. The place is nice, the croissants are fresh but expensive!
S. A.
Came to Lune for the first time, and wow. The croissants were delicious, but it was the service that really made this place stand out.
Thank you to the staff that work there for the awesome experience, will be back again and again!
T. L.
Fantastic croissants, little on the pricey side but we'll worth trying.
A. K.
Loved it, we had to wait in line for ~30mins on a Sunday morning at around 11:30, but that's to be expected. They close at 3pm every day, or when they run out of stock. Also have a person come down the line and take your coffee order so it's ready to go, you can sometimes get it while you're waiting, which was a great little touch
M. T.
The pastries are hands down a 5/5 buttery flakey full of flavour delicious. But the snobbery from one of the female servers I'd give a 2/5.
We pre-ordered 3 days earlier $65 worth of pastries. When we arrived we noticed they also make/serve coffees. We asked for one and the girl says no, sorry, you have to queue to order coffee because it's not fair to the others who've queued!! Doesn't make any sense but fine (I also have 2 children under 2 with me so why she thinks I'd do that is baffling, I'm thinking serving coffees is the easiest way to make more money).
Then we notice the bahn mi croissant which we would have ordered online but it wasn't available so I ask her if we can order it then and she says 'no I don't think so it's not fair to the others who've queued! You could queue if you want!!' (UM, how about it's not fair to customers who got organised 3 days ago??). But she proceeds to ask her supervisor who says ok we can order one as she begrudgingly tells us, AND then she says 'ok well I suppose you can order coffees too!!' (while the nice guy behind the coffee machine is completely great when I spoke to him earlier about bahn mi).
To the girl who served us: in customer service, a customer doesn't want your opinion if you think something shouldn't be done, I want to know if it actually can or can't be done. And maybe find out and deliver the message politely rather than with your juvenile attitude and snobbery. And I think next time you mention it's not fair to the people who queued, maybe you should also consider if it's fair to those who thought about their order 3 days prior. Snobby service is not the way to win in business.
To Lune: Delicious food and great job allowing people to order online. It could also potentially be clever to allow customers to order coffees online and then collect once they're there.

It's iconic for a reason. Light, flaky and complex flavours. Just go

Picked up a preorder from Fitzroy today, there was a lot of people standing in the line which reached around the corner at 1pm, You need to go earlier then this they sell out of most flavors by this time. preorder available from Fitzroy only, means you can skip the 30 min line, go in at a designated time slot, ask a staff member for the order and on your merry way to eating delish croissants. Ham and Cheese was the best! The pickup process was alittle awkward as there is no designated spot for pickup so be prepared to wave down a staff member or go bother the guys making coffee for help because if you stand at the counter staff are busy & people in the line get annoyed at you for cutting the line…

Try the savoury cheese ham croissant and almond croissant. The rest are pretty much... croissant.
A. K.
Excellent service, do recommend pre-order and pick up to avoid standing in the queue.
M. K.
If you come here on a weekday morning when they open at 7:30am there is no queue and the service is very good and good coffee. My best croissant and pumpkin cronut.
H. C.
Ham croissant was delicious. Super flaky not too oil or salty. Would definitely be back to try the others.

Friendly, courteous staff that is efficient & accurate with your orders/requests. Beautiful croissants; I’d kill to have them in Singapore anytime. 💙

The croissants do live up to the hype, they're beautiful, flavoursome, flaky, light and scrumptious. This is for sure "go once to try it and say I've been" kind of place.
The atmosphere, design & layout choices are something to be left desired. It's like they've tried so hard to be different and unique and artificially construct a vibe it just turns out terribly.
Let's start with the ordering the days croissants are laid out on the counter, so you have to push past the queue of people ordering to see what you want then walk to the back. Just put them by the door/where people walk in so we can see and know our order ahead of time.
The price is absurd for croissants, like they're nice but still just a light pastry.
The seating is atrocious, it's just benches all around the edge, so you have to squeeze between randoms, you don't have a table either you use the bench or a wooden box. This leaves a massive amount of dead space in the middle of the place.
Stop trying so hard to be different, you're just being difficult, put normal cafe tables and chairs in there.
The forced vibe/atmosphere and lack of actual real seating really ruins the experience for me. The croissant is delicious, but I want to enjoy my time sitting at a table with people enjoying a coffee & croissant. The place is designed to make you leave as fast as possible.

The best croissant I ever eat

Croissants that cannot disappoint. Everything is baked to perfection, felt like art. Hands down the best patisserie I've been to, and I've sailed the 7 seas. 🥐🌊

Lune is the place to visit..... awesome croissant...crisp n tasteful. I love this place.

Tasty :)I had an almond croissant and it's flaky, buttery. But a bit too sweet and expensive. The ambience is very nice, love the simplicity.
I will come back and try some new flavours, hope they will surprise me.

What can you say about perfection.....a croissant to brave covid for....enough said
J. Y.
Everything is tasty and the coffee is good. Mesmerising to see the chefs at work. Good place to pick up snacks for the office
B.
Delicious crossaints, the layout of the building is great - being able to see the pastry chefs at work in the center of the room.
Unfortunately (because they are great) there was very limited seating.
There menu is also only 4 crossaint choices. But I'm not sure if this fluctuates.

Absolutely love that Lune are home delivering to a different suburb each day. The selection was delivered on the promised day and the whole family tucked in sharing the different items between us. Fabulous buttery flaky puff pastry. Each one a new delight. Some were a twist with orange in the almond croissant for example. A wonderful treat.
H.
Good, but nothing mind-blowing.
I've had quite a few good croissants in my life. Also quite a few good cups of coffee. Lune does good coffee and quite good croissants, however I did not think it was anything exceptional. I personally think Laurent does better croissants.
A. W.
Great croissants with great coffees. They are fair enough for your waiting time in the queue.
M. n.
Impressed with the quality of the baked goods and coffee. Lined up at at 8am on a sunday morning and 15% surcharge on a public holiday. So worth it for the impeccable service and the deliciousness of it all. Will be back.
H. D.
Really tasty and I loved the cheese croissant
M. M.
It s obvious
I wish they had more shops though. The waiting in line kills
J.
Almond croissant was super great and worth the price. However for the chocolate croissant, the amount of chocolate inside was quite disappointing and not worth its price. Also, keep it in mind that they only took orders for takeaway when I visited on 12th June. The staff who was getting the order could’ve been more friendly just for a minute.

I've been here a few times and as always croissant are always on point. They have a large selection on the weekends.
G. G.
Arrived 10mins before closing but the awesome staff still kindly accomodated us which is really nice of them. Croissant is so uniquely delicious. A must try! Hot choc is also very good. ;)
C. K.
Their food is amazing, the venue has wow factor and the long line moves quickly!!
B.
If I had to choose a last meal it would be these. Amazing croissants!!! Buttery, measured perfection.
P. P.
You guys have raised my expectations for croissant so high that I will never have another one back in Brisbane. 😭
R.
The best croissant I have had before I even get to France.
A. W.
The place is nice and comfy. The croissant though, is over rated.
L. L.
It's out of this world 😍it's the best croissant I ever ate in my whole life 😍
B. s.
Worth the hype. The coconut rough croissant is AMAZING, but would happily share, or stash half for later. Would try whole range with zero concerns.

Best croissant i’ve ever tried!
H. Y.
All of the Croissants (almond, chocolate, hazelnut) are very delicious! Almond is must try.
J. M. Y. L.
Awesome place. Long queue but manage to get our ones under 30 mins
A. L.
Long queue but the yummy croissants and beautiful place is worth it...
K. F.
This place is well worth the hype. It’s a good idea to get there early as they will sell out of some flavors early on.
j. b.
Such a lovely and clean place, couldn't believe such place existed where its shop dedicated to creating really awesome croissants
A. F.
Incredible almond croissant! A must try! I liked the old warehouse vibes. It’s just a bit pricey and should give napkins when takeaway.
T. N.
The food was abit pricy but the whole experience was definitely worth it
C. T.
Delicious. Expensive. Pretty quiet on a Wednesday morning during lockdown.
A. S.
Really not sure what the fuss is all about...the Croissant was very good but I've had similar or even bigger and better ones in other bakeries around Melbourne...very overrated
O. D.
The almond croissant was absolutely lovely and flawless. The pastry was flaky and buttery but did not taste like butter. The contrast between the hard exterior (featuring an almond shell) and soft interior was amazing. Staff were lovely and created a great atmosphere inside. They also made the best coffee I have ever had! I wish there was a 10 point rating system because 5 stars cannot do this place justice!

Some of the best croissants anywhere in the world - in an incredible industrial space

Terrific customer service at CBD store.
I want give a shout-out to the CBD store team. It was Christmas Eve arvo i stepped into the store and was told i need to wait for 10 min for the croissant to be deliver from another store, as they have run out. I ordered a coffee to have there while waiting for it. The staff who served me coffee politely ask me if i want water. I noticed they offered this to every customer too. Afterward when the croissant arrived, the queue start building up. At the moment i'm not sure should i go join the queue while leaving the coffee on the table or should i quickly drank it up. One of the staff maybe sense my dilemma came over and ask would i like to order anything. This is just brilliant! Best of both world solution for me! The pepperoni pizza crossaint i got is beyond tasty. I'm a happy man when i leave the store. Thank you so much CDB team!! You made my day.

I want to say THANK YOU to Lune for the customer service and amazing croissants today!
I was guilty for keeping them waiting for us while they were already closed. The gentleman still smiled and greeted us with our amazing croissants in his hand. Once again sorry and thank you!!!
S. G.
First time to Lune. Heard good things about it. Absolutely delicious.
S. V.
Arguably the best croissant I've ever had in my life. Just one would keep you full for a while. One is enough for a whole brunch. It's crazy good! Must try! Absolutely amazing
K. C.
Always delicious and the lab is a fun and luxurious experience. Highly recommend!
M. L.
I've never been to France but I've been to Lune!! It is located in a small alley. The croissant is really crunchy and fluffy. Took some home and heat it up in an oven the next day and it was still as good. The plain croissant is a favourite and a must try! The texture of the pastry is amazing. So far, is the best croissant I've tasted in Australia.
I. T.
Delicious fresh croissants and always some yummy specials! Get here before 12 though because they sell out fairly quickly!
r.
Visit here if you are food lover. Five star Bakery, Five star Atmosphere. Dont miss this place if you are in Melbourne. Plan a breakfast here
A. G.
I have twice bought croissants from Lune (over a 2 year period). The taste was nice and the glaze was lovely, but both times, they were under-proven (doughy in the middle) - not what you want in a croissant that costs $6!

Best best almond croissants 🥐
H. L.
Still one of the best croissants in Melbourne
L. M.
Easily the best croissants our family has had. Ever. We love everything from here. You really can’t go wrong. Excellent coffee too.
L. M.
Beautiful croissants, with beautiful atmosphere. Make a trip out and prepare to stand in line and fight for a place to sit. Well worth it though.
N. C.
Sells out really fast! But I still managed to get the famous croissant. Definitely worth the trip there!
B. D.
Croissants are warm and nice, but the coffee isn’t my cup of tea
E. L.
Croissant was great, I think everyone hyped it up too much. But overall it’s yum but expensive
L.
These croissants are second to none. Absolutely delicious and such nice and friendly staff to top it off. Love this place
M. M.
Generally we enjoyed our time here. The place was beautifully designed, was particularly impressed with the staff office which I passed by when heading to the toilet.
T. T.
Perfect way to start your day! Place is so quiet on weekdays unlike any weekends. Try to squeeze in early in the morning to make sure you get the best quality of croissants fresh from the oven - please order ham and cheese croissants (because you can't just have one). Also, they make good coffee and other sweet croissants. But honestly, I prefer original and savoury. Yumm, will definitely come back for more!
