Comments of Brooklyn Boy Bagels
B. B.
This is one of those places that is probably still finding it's feet. The coffee we had was average, it wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad. The bagel is probably one of the better bagels I've had in a while however it feels like the ratio of cream cheese to meat is all wrong. I feel like all i was chewing on was cream cheese. The $6 for the smoked salmon add on was not worth it as we only got 2 pieces of smoked salmon. Pastrami for $5 was better as they gave more pieces and the ratio of cream cheese to meat was better.
This is one of those places I won't need to come back to for a very long time.

Great bakery tucked away in Marrickville. The soft pretzels 🥨 are a slice of New York right here in Sydney. Sourdough loaf and poppyseed buns are also a winner. The poppyseed buns are perfect for hamburgers. Definitely will be back to try the bagels 🥯
K. N.
I recently ordered a bagel pack from my beautiful friend’s birthday during lockdown!
He and her son were so happy, such a great gift!
Who doesn’t love bagels & sourdough!
Thank you for going above and beyond Tessa! Xx

Bagels as it should be! Hot, dense and chewy texture - just the way they make it in NY. Glad to have these guys local.
J. D.
Amazingly tasty bagels & top notch bread packages, easy to order & excellent delivery. Perfect for a family lock down treat - yumm
M. W. K.
Drove by and had a yummy poppy bagel with vegan cream cheese. Would be awesome If they offer Vegemite...
A. K.
Got a little bit hooked on bagels living in the US for a few years so it's great to find a specialty bagel bakery. The bagels are top notch. We smashed a half dozen in no time flat. However I was disappointed by the "everything" bagel which comes with some kind of caraway / fennel seed and no obvious garlic or dried onion, leaving it bland and also odd tasting at the same time. Not good and not true to a real "everything" bagel! Avoid those, get everything else is my advice.

Hands down the best bagels I have had in sydney

I am a huge fan of bagels and ate them aplenty in New York and on a recent trip to Israel. So when I hear somewhere selling bagels, I’ll be there.
I’ve had Brooklyn Boy often, previously at markets, in their recently closed Circular Quay store and also at other cafes that stock the product.
Brooklyn Boy have made a business pivot and reopened their wholesale bakery to a front of store retail in Marrickville in a factory space. Whilst it’s described as “drive-through”, technically it isn’t since it’s not like McDonalds where you place your order and drive right through and grab your order. It’s more of a car park where you can stop out front and grab your order and hop back in the car. If they do a drive through option, it wasn’t obvious to me.
Selling a good range of flavours and runs of cream cheese to go and make at home or have one made up for your brekkie. The bagels are authentic, boiled and baked the traditional way. Whether it be plain, blueberry (one of my favourites), mixed seed (or their “everything”), onion, pumpkin, sesame, poppy seed or another of my personal favourites - pumpernickel. They also sell challah (Jewish brioche) and pretzels.
There are also 285-mil tubs of different varieties of cream cheese such as plain, jalapeno, lox with capers, or garlic and chive.
See the website where you can order online (with a minimum spend) and even some big packs to make at home are also available.
They also do takeaway coffees, using beans by Little Marionette.
Be sure to get there early as they do sell out.

My favourite place to go every morning, the girls are lovely and when I walk in my fave already knows what coffee I’m going to get now which is really sweet and shows they take care of their regulars. Bagels are 10000/10 and best coffee I’ve had in a long time🥯🥯🥯❤️❤️❤️

Not many choices for bagels in Sydney, even though it is a bit pricey and some times more salty, the bagels at Brooklyn Boy Bagels are good. I don’t think the bagels you get elsewhere in Sydney (Costco , Woolies etc) are the real ones. The one here is definitely authentic NY style bagels. Hopefully they will have some shipping options / in store options in Western Sydney soon. The one thing I don’t like is travelling far from my place to get these bagels.
K. K.
Bagels and spread were delicious! I’m also from New York and really loved having a little slice of home! Pastrami Rueben was to die for! And coffee was scrumptious too! 👌👌🥯🥯
B. K.
Amazing bagels getting around. Get in early otherwise you may miss out on a specific bagel such as the “everything”, though the “onion” is a worthy replacement in my eyes. Coffee is pretty good too. Given how popular this place is, be prepared for a 15-20 minute wait, but it will be worth it!
B. C.
I’ve been wanting to get here for ages & finally had a weekday chance!!
Didn’t disappoint. I had the #1 Schmear on an ‘Everything’ bagel & a coffee.
The bagel is seriously good; it’s serves lightly toasted which gives it a great crunchy & chewy texture with loads of flavor in the dough & the everything topping. Super tasty.
Coffee was nice too & I had a comfy position to enjoy it all.
Would come back again for sure!
Only sad that it’s not open on weekends when I can get here!!
Z.
Went to try out this place for lunch with some colleagues. It was really good. Massive size. Solid portion. And the venue had nice ambience. Overall, a great experience :)
T. D.
Best bagels I’ve had since moving to Australia from Canada, almost on par with North American bagels. Would give 5 stars but $4 for a bagel and $35 for a dozen seems way over priced considering it’s significantly more than the competitors in Sydney and more than double the price at the best bagel spots in Canada. Unfortunately that makes it more of a once in a while kind of place than a regular spot.
P. S.
I’m a Brooklyn Girl - these are the BEST bagels 🥯 I have ever had outside of Brooklyn! My grandchildren love them too. Thank you for taking me home for a Brooklyn brunch during lockdown.
N. H.
So nice to finally have a place that serves food that reminds me of New York! Love the decor of the cafe and the service is friendly and efficient. The bagels are really nice and reasonably priced. I’ve also tried the matzoh ball soup special which was perfect for a chilly wintery day. In fact, I enjoy having lunch here so much that I walk 20 minutes from work (each way haha) to get my bagel fix!
M. W.
I love Brooklyn Boy Bagels. Picked up this delicious pastrami sandwich for take away. Staff were super attentive and I'm leaving with a half dozen selection of beautiful bagels 😍
K. M.
Beautiful, fresh, and tasty bagels and pastries. Friendly staff. We couldn’t ask for anything more. ~ The Shire Christmas Market.
A. T.
Mixed feedback. I loved it and would have given it a five (which is big as I just got back from New York). Unfortunately the girlfriend wasn’t a fan and only gave it a three. So here’s the average.
A. D.
After a rocky customer experience the team resolved the issues i had with my order and went out of their way to deliver my order the next morning. The bagels were great & everyone enjoyed them.
T. d. C.
Delicious bagels with great fillings. By far the best bagels in Sydney, make sure to grab a few extras to take home for later.

Looking for BAEgal?
Located inside Gateway Sydney but on the other side of the building (rear entrance)
Serving up huge deli sandwich, coffee, baked goodies and bagels! Must get the "Corny Island bagel" the meat was so juicy and taste really good, needs hot sauce imo but that's just me. The Katz sandwich was good but the meat was pretty dry, need some sauce or a moist slaw.

Biked here during lockdown, good place to stop for coffee and bagels on the way to cooks creek.
F. E.
Can I just say that the actual bagels themselves have a good variety of flavour and seem quite unique. However, they're not as tasty as they look... they were doughy and chewy to the point I ended up throwing them out. The place itself does seem small to work in and dodgy (not sure how nsw food authority let the pcbu run a shop there). The two girls at the front were helpful and quirky which made the experience a 3 star. Overall, it is always quality over quantity, which is exactly what those girls brought to the table, especially the tall one with the glasses!!!
But for the price of the bagels, I dont think they’re worth it. I dont even think they’re that concerned with the taste, as it seems they rather make that extra buck than meet customer satisfaction. Cheap cheap cheap
J. O.
Lovely decor, and a menu that's reminiscent of American sandwiches and bagels, it's a really chill place to be at. I recommend getting a cup of Single Origin, and talking to the barista to get an idea of the cuppa you are getting (in non-peak periods, of course!).
And so far, their Pastrami Reuben is one of the best things I've had in a while; tangy mustard, well seasoned pastrami, and a gorgeous cheese sandwiched between two slices of buttered toast. It's a well balanced sandwich that is not too heavy, but satisfying! And accompanies with a coleslaw that's just slightly sweet, a good pickle and chips for your nibbling.
Certainly will be back again to sample the rest of their menu!
I. N.
Love this bagel shop, have been back at least 5-10 times to get the max amount of bagels. So tasty and authentic. Favourites are onion, pumpkin seed and zatar.
A. H.
Really nice people in there today. I bought nearly everything I saw in the window after reading the reviews. I haven't had bagels in NY but as a kid from Montreal, I know how an amazing bagel makes you feel. THIS IS IT. The bagel is perfect. It's a bit of a drive to get there but they seem to deliver for free so I reckon I'll get a monthly fix. Keep up the good work!
J. R.
Best bagel in Sydney. Had them 3 weeks ago and picked some up again from the food markets recently. Dense, moist and heavy how a Bagel should be. Got a bag last time and ate bagels with a smile.
T. P.
The bagels were ok but $4.00 for a small, bland lukewarm coffee was not.
M. T.
Closest thing to NYC bagels you can get in Sydney.
A. C.
Really lovely shop with great bagels and they've got wonderful vegan options. Also snagged myself a pumpkin pie.
J. L.
Officially the first time my partner has eaten a bagel he actually likes!
Thanks for doing delivery options during these times. It’s really awesome.
Delivery was very early morning and we got our fresh bagels to go with our coffee!
We got 2 sets of 4 bagels, and are freezing 2 or 3 to keep fresh for next week. The variety of cream cheese spreads and fillings like pastrami / lox is a good addition as you can straight away build a amazing cafe breakfast or deli lunch.
The pastrami sandwich we made for lunch today was sooooo yum. A bit of mustard and pickles are all you need.
H. M.
Woken up by the delivery man ringing the doorbell at... 5:30am? I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous!
Fresh bread - just marred by the delivery experience unfortunately. Be prepared to collect it bright and early if you're receiving any.
M. E.
The best bagels! I send hubby to pick up a load to keep us in stock till we can get back. We freeze most of them and we find they are just as amazing when they defrost so i can eat them fresh or toasted and they still taste great. Very addicted and so happy i can find NY bagels here my backyard...Thank you!!!
A. T.
Had a great poppy seed 'Lox' bagel. A generous filling of Smoked salmon, capers red onions, fresh dill sandwiched in cream cheese. With some coleslaw and potato chips and gherkin on the side. Well worth it. Will comeback again.
K. B.
Freaking delicious bagels. Amazing cream cheese. Great coffee. Lovely staff. An absolute winner!
V. R. C.
Thank you so much for the fantastic bagel delivery for my party this past weekend! Had a great experience organising my order and delivery, not to mention the fantastic bagels and cream cheese! Was so happy to have delicious bagels and cream cheese that remind me of what I could get in the US. :) Definitely too many fantastic options so I recommend the mixed dozen. ALSO if you need gluten free they are delicious too!
F. S.
Literally the best bagels I've had in Aus. The pumpernickel bagel is to die for & the rye bread is awesome too.
L. B.
Love The bagels here! I hadn’t realised just how much I missed proper NYC bagels since moving to Australia. The schmear is also excellent, and I recommend the lox and jalapeño version. It’s a new weekend ritual to pick up bagels here each weekend.
R. C.
Will need to give it another try as today's $55 purchase was hit/miss.
Onion and everything bagels delicious
Garlic cream cheese full of flavour
Salted choc chip cookie very tasty
Good quality pastrami
Pretzel so hard it was inedible
Jalapeno cream cheese had no jalapeno flavour
R. N.
Trendy, neat, and clean little place with big bagels and delicious coffee! I was impressed and look forward to going back.
T. C.
Great selection of bagels - from poppyseed, cinnamon, jalapeno - at a decent price. Park out front or around the corner
W. L.
I will agree that the bagels are overpriced compared to international standards. But so is all of Sydney. These are far and away the best bagels I've had in Australia. Never been a massive fan of the NY-style (prefer Montreal) but these guys have nailed this model with a slightly crispy, chewy exterior, soft doughy interior but not over-sized and 'bready' like many bagels of the New York persuasion. They are especially delicious as an oven cheese-melted sandwich. Well done.
W. S.
I didn't know boiled bread could be so delicious. Every bagel is good, but the everything bagels with Lox are a standout and a must-have
J. M.
The bagels are good.
However, an everything bagel (at least in NYC, and we have eaten many there) does not have fennel! It’s overpowering and simply wrong. Get rid of that, and you guys have a winner.
Update: thanks so much for the reply below (and confirming it was caraway, also known as meridian fennel). Either way, can we suggest you (1) either rename the bagel, as it’s not an ‘everything’ bagel (and selling it under with reference to Brooklyn is a little misleading), or (2) produce both options - it was still good, just not what we wanted.
P. H.
Amazing bagels and fabulous staff, always helpful and welcoming.
C. B.
seriously best bagels in sydney - been looking for good ones ever since I left the states and bbb nailed it
J. P.
Great bagels, Pumpernickel is AMAZING, such a great flavour with many layers. Jalapeno and cheese was brilliant with just the right level of heat. I will be back!
S. P.
Very tasty bagels, lots of different types.
C. G. T.
Tucked in secluded location but the quality of bagel is top notch. Love them.
C. l.
Hands down the best bagels in Sydney. So happy to get a box delivered to our house to help ease the lock down pain.
W. A.
Super cool small coffee shop with the best bagels in Sydney. Super friendly baristas with lot of good energy and pretty smile. Thats all you need. And good coffee of course.
N. W.
High quality bagel and good spread. Not really toasted. Best bagel I’ve had in Australia but if you’re from New York don’t get your hopes up too much
P. H.
Great coffee, bagels are next level very friendly thanks!
Y. E.
Nice fresh bagels, but limited for options.
A. P.
Loved the bagels, very fresh, tasted just like the ones in New York. Just visited New York a couple of months ago and was looking for a place with New York charm, this is by far the closest you will come in Sydney. The staff was very friendly.
N. V.
Good fresh bagels, but the pretzels were frozen and sold while defrosting (not fresh)
k. p.
Oh my goodness! These guys have spotted a hole in the market and my heart and filled it with bread goodness. Yeah $11 for a bagel with a bit of schmear may be a little on the expensive side, but for something this good I'll pay for it!! There's always the option of taking a bagel home and toasting it yourself ($3.50). Cinnamon scroll has put me into a lucious food coma and their coffee gets a nod from this coffee snob. Do yourself a favor and head their way for some bagel bliss - just not on a Tuesday because they're shut.
I. R.
I had a great Pastrami Sandwich on an everything bagel. Was a fantastic sandwich. Moist meat and just the right amount of pickles and slaw for a good balance.
It’s great to have a much needed bagel shop in Sydney!
Can’t not wait to try more bagels!
L. A.
The bagels here are just amazing. Coffee of varying quality, and the service is sometimes hit and miss, but the bagels make up for it!
B. C.
Amazing bagels! The onion bagel is my favourite.
T. L.
Great, authentic bagels. Would recommend the pumpernickel!
E. P.
Excellent bagels. The queue can be tricky if you just want to grab some to take home.
A. S.
Really great bagels! Having lived in New York for 6 years, bagels were a weekly ritual, after trying the rubbish that is supermarket bagels here, really happy to discover Brooklyn Boy! They are a little softer than your standard NY ones, which is not a bad thing, good chew and great flavour. Jalapeño cream cheese is made with fresh not pickled jalapeños, still good, just don’t go spreading it on super thick before trying, cos it’s spicy!
PLEASE make a bacon egg and cheese when you guys start sandwiches back up!!! That would make my life complete 🙏🏼
R. O.
Excellent bagels with a great atmosphere!
Leah, the waitress, was the bomb-dot-com! Great chat and excellent service.
Thank you!
M. H.
My absolute favourite bagels and their cream cheese is incredible! My boyfriend and I literally hunt down their market stalls. Highly recommend Blueberry bagel and Pumpkin bagel. Also has best Cinnamon Scroll around. The cream cheese icing on it is perfect level of sweet.
J. E.
I'm American and lived in NYC for years before coming here, and these bagels taste just like the real thing. Love them!
B. L.
Great bagels and coffee. Right on the bike path so very easy to pop and grab a cookie in while riding by!
H. N. L.
I had the PBJ bagel. Bagels were toasted and soft, but the combination was a little too sweet for me. The pomegranate they put in the bagel are dried fruits not the fresh seeds. But I appreciated the strawberry rose jam which really had a delicate sweet aroma to them. Would try something else next time! Staff was friendly and the surroundings were nice.
T. A. O. T. S.
OMG love this place Shaun and Betty are amazing. I walk in and they always make my morning. Betty makes the best coffee in Sydney and the bagels are amazing. Being a small business owner myself their customer service is above and beyond.
Love you guys
Skye and roki from the tattoo shop
Almond vanilla latte lady lol
Would give 10 stars if I could
B. C.
Had my first experience here today after hearing about this place through friends. I can confirm that these bagels are worth all the hype!
J. P.
Hadn’t had a proper bagel in a long time, theirs were exactly like home. Schmear was excellent and the bagels were perfect. Staff was on point too!
L. C.
I ordered something from the sandwich menu and put in on a bagel (cost a bit more) but was totally worth it. Huge bagel with potato chips and side slaw. It costs a lot but considering its location you shouldn't be surprised. I've been multiple times and it's never been super packed plus they have pre-order services.
B. T.
The cream cheese in my salmon dill bagel was excessive. I had to scrap a lot of it off the thing. The staff also forgot my ice coffee during service but I was treated to a complimentary treat to compensate. Overall the bagels themselves were great and the servings generous.
R.
Ordered the Lox at 10am on Wed morning. The bagel was too tough and there was too much schmear. I’ve recently been to NY and this sadly didn’t compare to the ones I had there.
N. H.
Best bagels. Wish I could buy some in Scotland.
A. D.
Great service. Food was pretty good - they do mostly bagels with different cream cheese fillings in a New York style. Pretty small inside, definitely more of a take away place.
C. D.
Wow - these are tasty. We live just around the corner for over 3 years so confused how we didn't know this place existed. One day we noticed the big red neon sign and popped in for our bunch. Not to be disappointed.
J. L.
Just had a pastrami sandwich and really enjoyed it. Great mustard, great pickles, good pickle to meat ratio and great pastrami. 10/10 would eat again. Prices a bit expensive for a sandwich though ($15).
F. K.
Best bagels on Sydney. Authentic, just like the best bagels in NYC.
Would highly recommend!
G. T.
Amazing bagels - loved the CQ cafe - hope you come back soon - your competition on CQ street level is nowhere near your high quality produce. Get back here ASAP for gods sake !!
P. C.
Best bagels in Sydney!
G. M. (.
Awesome Authentic New Yawk style bagels, pay them a visit, the manager is an Authentic New Yorker!
J. R.
Better than bagels I’ve had in NYC, actually
A. D.
Actually love these bagels so much, got hooked on them at the markets! Our guy at Manly Markets is always schmearing on a Sunday!
J. C. S.
Very good "kawfee" and it's amazing that you can have bagels with bacon and cheese!! Great place. The sign outside says Butcher in case you can't find the place.
B. S.
Best in class bagels in Sydney

Sweet ambiance with a few tables to sit and lovely staff.

These are undoubtedly the best bagels in Sydney.
O. C.
Bagels were OK, nothing special, the service was, well, grumpy.
H. K.
Astonishingly good bagels and great coffee
B. B.
Great coffee and even better bagels. Easily the best bagels outside of America
L. R.
Bagels were just ring shaped bread, quite disappointing. Nothing special about them, Smoking Gun Bagels is miles better
K. S.
Yummy bagels.
