Comments of Gundagai Bakery
J. T.
Love their meatpie, not an ordinary meatpie.
G. L.
Decent pies, variety of flavours including cheese and bacon, curry, steak and kidney, etc. Well made and tasty. Most of the flavours sell out prior to 1.45pm on a Saturday. Plain left. 3 pies and a sausage roll came to $17. Well supported by locals.
H.
Food was great. Had to wait a little bit for pies but expect that for Easter Monday. Young girls behind the counter were under the pumped, needed some senior worker there to control the rush.
I’ve been a barista for years, I could hear them burn the milk for coffees. Need some training there.
M. S.
Girls were really lovely. Peak seasons needs more yummy cakes. The display unit was empty except for a couple of slices. Counter tops were cluttered. Floors and under counters were filthy. Interior needs some big time TLC ❤️💖. Great pies
R. H.
I got a cheese, bacon and beef pie for $5. Staff were friendly, service was great. They seem busy.
I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the pie. The pastry was nothing extraordinary and quite basic. There was also very little cheese, just a sprinkle on the top.
Overall, I didn’t really enjoy the pie, however I wouldn’t be hesitant to try something else from this bakery as they had a wide variety of things that also looked delicious.
D. H.
Amazing county bakery. I went in for a snack and they were giving away their left over hot cross buns. They were amazing. So glad I went here for my rest stop.
C. B.
Great old school bakery with a wide selection of pies, sausage rolls, cakes and coffee. Staff are very friendly and so are the locals. Thanks for filling my belly with goodness of a pie and dead horse on a cold winters day.
T. S.
2.5. Bare pass. The coffee was very very ordinary here. Worst I’ve tasted for eons. For the first time I can remember, I tipped mine out. My partner loved her sausage roll though. Memo: go here for the bakery goods, not the coffee.
M. W.
I like there pies great taste worth the drive from Tumut. All there range is amazing call in and enjoy 😉 😀
j. w.
Had their beef pepper pie. The pie was tasty and reasonably priced.
The lovely junior staffs who served me were very polite, genuine, helpful and professional. Thank you all
Although some of the reviews were negative about the coffee, I would definitely recommend their pies :)
A. L.
It's worth taking the exit off the freeway and visiting them here for fresh sandwiches and pies. Delish...
The shopping centre is really well preserved and original. .
There's an historic Rail viaduct top of town with old semaphore signals.
A. &. M. W.
Fantastic find, staff were great, food was awesome and value for money! Where else can you buy 2 pieces of buttered raisin toast with butter for $2 SUPERB A must visit for all their award winning pies too
a. r.
Delicious pies. Freash food like sandwiches and cakes etc. Friendly service and it wasn't until I were sitting outside eating the pie that I saw the history information and realized its the oldest bakery in Australia
L. F.
Nothing flash, but very credible. Two hot pies with sauce, two dohnuts (homemade perhaps?), two coffees (excellent), all for $18. Fast and friendly service. What more could you want?
M. F.
Enjoyed the sausage rolls from here & the little party pies were alright as well. Friendly service...
C. S.
Nice staff classic bakery range, had some rude fellow customers, but other than that the place was nice.
R. D.
Best slice I've had in a long time. I had the macadamia caramel slice and it was amazing! We grabbed a loaf of bread there too and it's nice and soft and very nice. Total of $9-something for the two items.
The service was good. Recommend!
R. R.
We grabbed some bread and a coffee. Lovely staff and super nice bread.
S. B.
Discovered this place by accident, but what a glorious accident. The long jam & cream buns are incredible, I bought two more. The pies have soft pastry and are kept at the perfect temperature. The road to Gundagai should always lead here.
L. M.
Great old style country bakery with freshly made sandwiches and rolls plus an apple scroll to die for.
D. L.
Great pies & custard tarts 😛👍👍
G. C.
Pie and sausage rolls were average, salad roll was better but fell apart when I picked it up
H. M.
Awesome blueberry muffins and coffee, great service
G. D.
Delicious pies I got the pepper and steak pie, coffee was great! Friendly staff members. Keep up the good work!
B. R.
Excellent pies and the long pastry with jam and cream is the best thing I have ever tasted.
A. 1.
Great Friendly Service by Beautiful Young Lady..Delish Pies Sausage Roll & Sour Dough ..Will be Calling Again When Down that Way..🥧🥖🧋
T. I.
Had an epic ham and salad roll, so fresh and delicious.
L. P.
I am not a pie eater but my husband is. He's very impressed with the plain and curry pies. Best he's ever had he said. Sausage rolls were great too. There wasn't a great deal left but we were late having lunch. Yet to try the sweets later on today. Great place and so glad I read previous reviews.
K. F.
Only tried the sausage rolls and they were lovely.
B. M. ..
Delicious pies and pastries well worth a visit
R. C.
Excellent service, excellent snack and excellent coffee. Quickly delivered even though they were flat out with customers. Highly recommended.
D. M.
Staff were okay, pretty good pie and pastrie wrapped sausage. Only disappointment was they were out of the cheese and bacon pies at 9.00am! We were looking forward to trying them. :(
l.
Dropped in here on a road trip.
Good tasty food, chicken and salad roll was great on a warm day and the pastry on the sausage roll was really nice too.
This would be my recommendation for a place to stop for a bite and or a break from driving.
K. F.
Food is OK, bread is great, younger staff are hit and miss some are great and on the ball others are slow and can tell they don't know what they are doing. More senior staff are good
C. W.
Well lets face it we all eat alot of bread and the high top is just the best from here. Also i love the tank loaf and the long john things are pretty good too. If you want a snack have anyone of the great pies on offee. Delicious.
A. C.
We stopped by here to get something small for lunch. I had a sausage roll which is really tasty. I also had a takeaway cappuccino. Im giving 4stars for the sausage roll but 1 star for the coffee. Old bakery but cant tell if the bakery is that old other than the explanation board outside. They should have decorate a bit inside, bring some old momentos or antique bits just to make it different to other bakery. It looks like slowly dying as other cafe nearby is busy, so maybe there isnt much they can do for the place....
L. A.
Nice young ladies polite smiling faces well spoken. Aircon was very loud and noisy. Pies a 3 out of 10. Just barely warm enough to eat so needed to gulp down quickly. The curry so not as tasty as I hoped for. And the big chunk of gristle was a huge No No size of a 10 cents. Sorry to say will not visit again for pies.
K. v. L.
Lovely little bakery in a lovely little town. The best meat pies on the Hume Highway. Most definitely worth a visit.
D. E.

A. J.

K. B.
Good old fashioned meat pies - 10 varieties , cream buns, and real doughnuts, not like the fluff you get in the city...😀
P. R.

Z.
Lovely country style bakery. Well worth taking the time to get off the hume and take a meander through gundagai with some fresh pastry goodies in hand.
D. H.
Shown as Australia's oldest continuous bakery 1864 that has survived through the highs and lows of the town. Worth the detour off the freeway
C. H.
The Pies! You've gotta stop here for the pies! The coffee was average & the milk was scorched but I won't be popping for the coffees next time anyway. Did I mention the pies? Worth the detour off the main HWY
S. A.
Nice pies and friendly. Not many shops open due to covid-19.
T. H.
