Comments of Heatherbrae's Pies
Z.
Stopped over at this place on the way to Canberra. Solid pies (both sweet and savory). Nice little clean place to take a break and rest. Thank you 😊
T. K.
The most delicious pies! The selection of classics as well as specials is always great. Flakey pastry with hearty fillings. The service is also good and on site they have bathrooms as well. Recommend for a roadtrip pit stop!
S. S.
Pies are very good shop is very clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and helpfull and the variety is good . The coffee is also very good .
T. V. (.
On your way between Canberra and Sydney, make sure you stop by to try their award winning pies. They are really good and worth trying. Yours truly @fooderarri
S. J.
Nice and clean. Staff friendly.
Stopped for gluten free pies. Unfortunately they only do 2 sorts .. chunky meat which is nice and a mince/ walnut one which I don't recommend.
M. B.
I frequently take detours just so I can get a pie from here. I love the diggers pie.
My wife loves being able to get a gluten and dairy free pie. Very rare to find with such high quality.
Highly recommended. I would love to buy a franchise!
A. K.
This was an accidental stop on our way .
Didn’t expect but the pies were hot and fresh. We had the curry chicken and the pie had a great amount of chicken filling which left us happy full.
They also have the sweet varieties of pies
Nice cozy interiors. Ample parking outside.
Definitely will come back for the curry pie again
P.
Great Pies. Retro ambience with friendly staff and a wide variety of pies, cakes and drinks.
S. F.
A welcomed surprise on our way home.
Really great flavoursome pies and coffees.
Loved the FJ Holden too 😆
N. B.
Always delicious! Love the cinnamon donuts and coffee during our trips to Canberra and back. Pies are really tasty and fresh.
S. D. (.
Very professional layout and uniforms for staff. I was really impressed. Steak and kidney pie and snack pie tho I found very bland to be honest. Especially for the 7.55 price tag. And ended up needing a plate coz it just fell apart. Definitely couldn't have eaten that on the run. Better to dine in. After all, it's really nice inside
S.
A shop dedicated to pies with tea coffee and some other sweet and snack items. They keep cold pies packed in packets for purchasing and family size pies as well.Taste is good ,they have veg and gluten free ones as well (don't expect lot of options in veg though),they have drive thru as well.I prefer chickens and meat pies are they are more juicy than veg ones but the latter are also good .After having pie and tea,I needed water but not cold bottle from the fridge, the lady at the counter was kind enough to give me a glass of tap water .There is MacD nearby in this area but we get it all over the country so I prefer eating pies here, different .And sauce is free, just ask for it.
M. B.
A great place to stop for a quick bite along the Hume Highway. When you walk in and the first thing you see is a 1954 Holden FJ Ute it is always a good sign and I wasn’t disappointed. The pies and desserts were delicious, the coffee was great and the service was too. Will definitely be stopping by again.
M.
Great spot for a stop over. The pies were good, freshly squeezed orange juice in the fridge was very nice, service was good and toilets were clean. We are a family of 4 and we enjoyed it !!
A. E.
Always stop in for a pie (I'm lying, I grab two or three) whenever I'm driving between Sydney and Canberra.
The pies and sausage rolls are freaking delicious!!
S. R.
Best GF pie I've ever had! I had the chunky steak, over the chicken and veg. Amazing to have two options at a pie shop. All my gluten free friends out there take the trip! Great atmosphere, very clean and happy bubbly staff.
P. S.
Great spot to stop in and get some food filling for the road. Perfect alternative than filling yourself with fast food oil. However, the prices are quite steep.
A. P.
Great food and service.
I just had a chicken and vegetable pie, and it was full of tasty filling. So good, I've got a couple of cold pies to take home. There's also a freezer of frozen pie packs to takeaway, 4 for $23-$28 depending on filling.
G. T.
Chicken and vegetable pie was delicious. Coffee was also very nice. Ideal place to stop when commuting by car from Sydney to Canberra or vice versa. There are plenty of chairs and tables on the open verandah facing north (sun). Also plenty of parking available. Service was fast and friendly.
L.
Gluten free pies! Also dairy free :) The GF chunky steak pie was absolutely delicious, good meat to gravy ratio and decent quality beef, will be calling in here all the time on road trips now
R. L.
The pies were amazing.
Friendly customer service.
Clean and tidy.
Absolutely loved it and will definitely return.
C.
Shepherds pie was great! Much better option than McDonalds. Will be our regular stop now on the way back to Melb.
O. L.
Great customer service. Highly recommend the family garden quiche and cream and jam doughnut. The caramel tarts are wonderful too. It would be great if there were more gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian options though.
S. A.
A large dedicated pie shop on the Hume highway between Sydney and Canberra.
Historic memorabilia, including a 1950s FJ Holden Ute serving as a pie warmer adds a bit of character along with the vast selection of pies available.
We had a Beef Burgundy and a Duck with Lemon pepper.
Service is quick and sauce is available for free. there is plenty of space to sit and enjoy a hot pie to break up your journey.
More Southern Highlands Pie reviews are on our website at Sling Adventures

Always great for a cuppa and a feed.Lovely assortment of pies and other delicious savoury and sweet pastries.
J.
Attention all coeliacs! Heatherbrae Pies have gluten free meat pies that you can buy fresh or frozen to take home in complimentary freezer bags & they are DELICIOUS!
K.
Drive Through Pies! You can’t go wrong here. Staff are very helpful and friendly, service was quick and simple as there was just one window where all of the transactions took place. Good range of sweets on offer too if that’s what you’re after.
J.
Great Pies. Good Coffee.
I tried the Gluten free meat pie.
Plenty of meat. Real nice taste to it.
Best Gluten free pie, I have had.
Recommended.
k. p.
Enjoyed eating here great food excellent service only thing I would say is a little bit pricey compared to other bakeries however wouldn't stop me eating there again.
s. b.
Good pies and tarts, standard flavours and a few "gourmet". Service was friendly, not very crowded at 2pm. Good parking, dog water outside too.

🥧🍰☕Heatherbrae's Pies
on the eastern side, Hume Highway
Sallys Corner Rd, Exeter NSW 2579
Next to the Shell Service Station
When travelling fom Sydney to friends and family in Crookwell, Cootamundra and Victoria, or on the way back home, we often stop in to Heatherbrae's Pies for a steak pie, a capacino, and a cake.
However, there is a wide variety of delectable delights and beverages.
Staff are always bright and friendly.
R. K.
I came by Heatherbrae's by chance and l tell you that l found the pies and cakes are great and l tell you that staff and service were great also, l will be back for more.
A. K.
This place was so busy and as soon as we were served, we understood why! Great food and even better service. The uniforms were very nice too!
R. A.
Great pies, friendly and helpful staff, very clean and spacious, good food options and the desserts are excellent, great place to stop in for a rest and recharge and usually less crowded than the surrounding places, great hot chocolate too but their pies are the best
J. M.
Easy to access.
Better than the nearby fast food (maccas).
Very clean and staff are professionals and friendly.
Best pie franchise in Australia, especially for a quick bite!
Take away available
J. T.
If you like chocolate éclairs, try them here. Absolutely delicious, wish I had bought two!
G. F.
pretty small selection of pies really, and no variety of drinks in the fridge. great for a quick bite
B. M.
Always friendly and very quick service.
Gluten free products cooked in a separate kitchen and building.
L. B.
If pies are your thing, these are the best. Lovely service, clean and tidy restaurant.
Y. N.
Nice pies and pastries. Also very clean, air conditioning with plenty of parking. Good mid way stop between Sydney and Canberra.
J. A.
Hidden gem. With drive through. Great pies and sausages rolls baked on premise.
T. S.
Fantastic pies and sausage rolls! Don't be surprised if there is a wait line, as this place deserves its reputation on the map.
The drive thru service makes it so convenient to not leave the car during winter days/nights. If you are looking for a sweet treat, I highly recommend the milkshakes and iced donuts. The friendly and quick service also keeps me coming back!
A. H.
Great food, coffee. Very clean.
Friendly efficient staff. Lots of pie choices.
L. M.
Really great pies! They also have frozen take home packs which are amazing!
S. F.
Always amazing pies, kept super clean and really friendly staff!
K. D.
The Steak and onion pie was 10/10..just bloody delish, hot flavoursome and chunky and even pastry distribution. Service was cheery, efficient and helpful. You lost a point for your Apple turnover..should be rebranded cream turnover...what happened with the lack of apple chef??? Ample parking great coffee and clean amenities 🤩🥰
T. G.
Great steak and pepper pie today. I’ll be back!
Back again!
Great service too.
H. 1.
Best pie I've had in regional NSW. Better than Pie in the Sky
N. M.
This is an excellent quick stop on the Hume freeway. We often sidetrack to this wonderful and welcoming pie shop, which has a great selection of pies and savoury or sweet treats for everyone. Give it a go. You will not regret that. My favourite is the chunky pepper steak pie. Their donuts and coffee are also surprisingly very good.
D.
The pies and sweets were so delicious! Was excited to find you could order a side of mushy peas. Even on one of their busiest days of the year (Good Friday) the staff were friendly and smiling. The restaurant and toilets were clean. A great spot to stop when heading south out of Sydney.
E. D.
I tried the lamington which was so soft and delicious. I’ll be back for the pies.
Lost a star because the bench we sat on was sticky.
K. F.
Great service, friendly staff, clean and tidy environment, great food and fast service. What more can you ask. I’ll be back!! Oh and if you see poor reviews here please check out their other reviews and you will find they only leave poor feedback where ever they go! You just can’t please those type of people.
I. M.
Nice clean and well run pie shop. Gluten free options available with a good selection of pie varieties. Coffee and other drinks are available, providing a good trip lunch stopover.
D. D.
A quick stop for some pies. Delicious and great and decent filling. Chunky and fresh. Service was fantastic as well. Also tried the sausage rolls.....a little small for the price. I suggest sticking to the pies
P. B.
Terrific fruit pies, we always buy up big when passing by
D. R.
Loved the savoury and sweet pies! Gluten free meat pie was also amazing. Only feedback would be that the vegan pie filling lacked salt.
Service good and very clean toilets too.
Definitely returning.
R. T.
Heatherbrae's provides a great alternative to the standard highway stops. Look out for the special pie of the week. The Alpine with venison, mulled wine and carrot was divine! The sweet pies are great too. I'm married to a cherry pie fan-girl.
L. L.
Wonderful selection of classic and gourmet pies. Great coffee. Nice place to rest during a road trip. Recommend the Bushman's pie.
A. O.
Best stop for pies ever. So glad they have located on southern freeway. Milkshakes delicious & dessert/cake selection heavenly. A great Australian new icon for the traveller
R. M.
Just as good as the original store in Heatherbrae! Absolutely delicious food, great service.
S. C.
Yum! This is a steak and kidney pie. While I have not had one for years, this reminded me why I love them!
C. G.
Absolutely wonderful service, delicious and affordable pies. It is a road trip must if you heading down south
D. N.
Just had the steak mince pie and sauce which was good. Also laminations and cream doughnuts good
E. R.
Great that I could order my gluten free chunky beef pies from Canberra n eat them when I got there. I've been through there 6 times n only had the gluten free beef pies 2 times now as they don't make enough
S. R.
Pleasant place to stop as you journey south of Sydney. Great Pie menu and with gluten free options makes pies appealing to all the family. Try the Pepper Steak Pie...
Y. S.
Delightful and unplanned visit on our way home from Canberra. Very clean and cool decor for the place along with very good pies. Worthy of a visit if you are passing through and a lucky treat for the locals.
A. G.
Like many have said: surprisingly good. We came in because of the gluten free options-but it was all really good. The service, the range of products, the value - the whole package.
The gluten-free products are carefully packaged and handled-which is great. Our little guy (a celiac) really loved his pie. His brother also loved his pie ( non gluten-free). they both had milkshakes-which they really rated. Overall, they said the shop was "way better than McDonald's" (which is a huge mark from them-as they love that place).
I had a chicken and vegetable pie which was just superb.
The staff were super polite and efficient. The place was clean. The prices were incredibly reasonable-for the quality provided.
Definitely coming back-and I will certainly be trying the cherry pie when I do.
Thanks for offering GF options and for taking such great care of us today. You guys are great.
B. B.
Great pies, sausage rolls & cakes. Even the kids wanted another pie.
It was great to see an old FJ Holden in the store.
I.
Yummmm... this time they have an Alpine Pie for the Snow season. Must try to stop for a rest and refuelling on the way to Canberra or Snowy Mountains.
k. g.
Heatherbrae's is probably better known for it's meat pies but...the sweet pies are a delicious treat. The pastry on the apple pies is the best apple pie pastry that I have had. It's soft and buttery and sweet (but not too sweet) and the fillings are delicious too. My favourite is cherry and apple but all are just delectable. Served warm with a scoop of ice cream and a cuppa - every mouth full is a pleasure. Well done to the pastry chefs.
J. D.
Delicious gluten-free pie, followed by a yummy apple and blueberry pie.
I. R.
Just off the M31 freeway Heatherbrae's pies is close to the a petrol station so you can fuel up your car and yourselves for your travels.
They have a great selection of steak, chicken and veggie pies; with dessert pies, muffins and doughnuts as well. Grab a pie and eat in, take it away, drive thru, or take it away frozen for later when your home. If your passing by why not stop by.
D.
Do yourself a favour. Stop off here and grab a pie pr something sweet. You can’t go wrong!
G. L.
Great pies and coffee clean and tidy easy parking
K. o. K.
Staff very courteous. This place boasts of the best pie shop...
The hot chocolate was not in the top that I tasted. It wss pretty average.
The chicken curry pie had good chunky pieces... the curry had a bit of flour though...
The shepherds pie had a bit too much mash potato. The mince pie was great...
The Anza biscuit was greay, the coconut tart was great.
G. B.
A great stop for a great pie, jillaroo and curry chicken my top picks. Quiche were a little salty and small as were the sausage rolls. Bang for Buck stick with the pies and a cream filled lamington or custard tart.
B. C.
Great service at the drivethrough window, pies were good too
S. S.
Perfect pit stop when heading to Canberra.
Pies looked good but lacked of taste. Good quality meats were used. Steak and mushroom pie did not have mushroom.
Cherry pie was ok.
Nice retro styled ambience. Prices were acceptable.
Customer service was nothing to talk about. Just buy what customers want and find a seat.
L. F.
A great stopover between Sydney and Canberra. Duck up behind Maccas at Sally's Corner rest stop heading south.(near Moss Vale turn off) Fantastic pies of all flavour and great coffee
H. D. S.
Great Pies (Jillaroo and Curry Chicken 🥰),
But, as per all other reviews, burnt coffee 😒
J. R.
it has a good selection at lunch, honestly dont bother after like 3pm because they have a very limited range. i went to get a custard tart as they have the best ones ive tasted but they had none left at 6pm, 3 hours before close
S.
Best pies and few options of Vegetarian pies. Must try.
K. H.
Not too bad. Service is top notch
Had a need and mushroom pie - that was good, and around 4 bucks so you pay more at a servo. All up, pretty good.
B. G.
My daughter loves the Shepard's pie. They are a solid 8 out of 10. I had a cheese and spinach roll. It was tasteless. No taste at all and extremely small for the price.
S. F.
Absolutely brilliant experience in a retro inspired dining space.
The continual turn over of fresh products from the kitchen was astounding and mouthwateringly delicious.
A fabulous selection of pies and the massive take away family sized apple pie was dream worthy.
We'll ALWAYS stop there when in the Highlands.
Love, love, lovely!!!
K. T.
Nice pies
Good coffee
Not as friendly as they use to be
G. M.
Yumm. Great pies, with pieces of meat & sausage rolls, some Gluten Free. Good coffee. Friendly service. Great relief from the rubbish the m joint serves. Only 80m East at Sutton Forest on South bound side of Hume.
W. F.
Steak and kidney lovely. Custard tart needs more custard. Staff good. Both doors open very cold breeze straight through the shop. COLD. Bring your own sanitiser because they don't have any. No covid book for the technically unsavy 7/10.
B. M.
I purchased some of the Gluten Free Beef Pies and they are delicious. Much better than those sold in Supermarkets. Hopefully the company will package up frozen ones in dozen lots so I can bring them home more often.
Barry
T. B.
Their gluten free pies and pork and Fennel fill are great, I scrape the seeds off the roll ;) My only wish is that they add more flavors. The steak is a bit strong and the vegetable is interesting, walnut, carrot, harissa. Never remember to take photos, sorry!
N. L.
Nice meat pie shop on the highway !
Good rest, good taste !
S. -.
The pie was great - just not...top shelf. The staff were amazing though.
A. G.
Decent pies for reasonable prices. Better stopping here than in at McDonald's for a late night feed. Almost exactly halfway between Sydney and Canberra.
J. S.
The coffee was delicious, just what we needed. A beautiful blend of coffee lovely and hot.
Ham and cheese croissant could have been heated more to melt all the cheese.
Premises were extremely clean and well presented.
h. s.
great consistent pies every time and friendly service
I. P.
Excellent pies, lots of filling, great selection, and fantastic coffee. The staff were excellent, even after upending my coffee, they were great, nothing was too much trouble. So embarrassing for me though. A lot of other companies could take some lessons from the staff here. The pies were so good, we took some home with us.
M. B.
Meat pies are nice, I normally get a large fruit pie take away as well when I visit. They are both great.
B. L.
The pies are delicious, especially the pepper pies!
C. S.
Exceeded my expectations. It’s like a fancy McDonald’s but for pies! Staff are friendly and pies were delicious.
Can highly recommend the diggers with mash potato and mushy peas.
R. V.
Probably the best savoury beef pies in the Southern Highlands. Both the Jillaroo and the steak and onion were outstanding. Flavoursome fillings and excellent pastry. The complementary sauce station edges this shop in front of most of the other famous bakeries in the area.
M. S.
I am not normally that big one pies but they have the best pies I have ever had. Super friendly helpful service and the coffee was nice to go with it all. Highly highly recommend you stop by whilst heading south.
M. A.
Reasonable pies in a fairly anonymous, fast-food type setting. For the price, they should be using real cutlery and crockery rather than contributing to landfill with plastic cutlery, cups, etc. I had the lentil pie and it really, really, really needed salt. I don't think these are the best pies I've every tasted
B. W.
Best pie you will eat on the road by far.
A. S.
Alright at best. Customer service has been consistently poor. The poor young bright faces at the front are clearly untrained and the supervisor was rude and clearly not supportive of the new trainees. A heated up croissant took far too long, as was forgotten about. Tasted fine once received!
Side note: not taking BYO coffee cups.
D. B.
One of the nicest pies I have eaten 😋
C. T.
This was an unexpected great pit stop. The pies were the best and came out hot. I had the red lentil curry pie (vegetarian)....amazing!! I would order these in bulk if possible.
My daughter even said, the spinach roll was possibly the best one shes ever had.
I will be stopping here everytime I travel past.
S. i. O.
I look forward to stopping here whenever I am driving on the highway. Great pies but the Garden Quiche is my favourite so far. Good coffee. Nice clean, comfortable place to take a break from driving. So much better than the familiar fast food chains.
S. P.
Had a delicious chicken curry pie from here. Didn't realise they had a drive through I'll definitely be using that next time. I had waited in the line inside, the girl at the counter served the person before me and then just wandered off and I had to find another line 😂 might have been due to the huge gaps between us for Covid she didn't see me.
K. E.
Beautiful meat pies and loved the fruit pies as well BUT I will need to think hard about going back as the price of same is just over the top. I understand that the service is part of the cost for a shop and quality is also important. The problem lies in having a family and trying to avoid maccas.
K. M.
Haven't had a pie for ages, and the Jillaroo (chunky steak, bacon and cheese) pie was delicious. We also got an apple pie with cream. It was the nicest apple pie I have had for years. The apple was cooked and soft, and the pastry was beautiful.
T. G.
Nice coffee and pies.
B. H.
Fresh and yummy pies! Nice decoration
A. W.
Excellent pies, only two gluten free options this afternoon but the chunky steak was the best pie I've had since going gf!
B. H.
Drive-Thru pies ! What a time to be alive . Pies were great, will definitely be back
2022 Update: Pies are still delicious
D. P.
I like the pies and sausage rolls and the custard is pretty good as well good value food. I would recommend trying them.
E. R.
Stopped for a pie and coffee, very nice
T. R.
Great pies and coffee has a drive thru
S. H.
Absolutely amazing quality and variety of the best pies, quiches, sausage rolls I've ever had...
R. F.
Expected more from a dedicated pie shop. Tried three pies and two of them completely lacked flavour.
Their vanilla slice was surprisingly good though.
T. “. R.
Staff are always warm and welcoming. Pies are consistently amazing. The Jillaroo (beef with bacon & cheese) is the best!
T. T.
Yes the pies are good. I love the potato pie but the problem is every time I go past they don't have them. I'm writing this at trappers in Goulburn because even at 4:30 in the afternoon they had none.
I'm up and down the highway every week and have stopped going here because they never seem to have potato pies.
That said, yes the pies are good.
F. B.
I usually stop here for a bite and coffee. It is clean, has plenty of parking and seating, and the staff are friendly. I wouldn't say their prices are cheap, but neither are they over the top. I do appreciate being able to pour sauce on my pie without paying for those small plastic containers.
Has a nice feel to the place, and on the odd occasion that it is has been super busy they seemed to cope fairly well, putting on more people at the counter. Though as with anywhere there was a resultant wait for our food.
S. D.
On my second visit I tried a meat pie and it was very good. It tasted like a home made pie not the abattoir floor scrapings one usually associates with the Aussie pie.
The coffee was 3.5/5, not bad.
The sauce on offer is Heinz, unfortunately not an Aussie owned choice.
As any burger flipper knows the staff make the establishment and these men and women offer smiles worth stopping for. Well done.
D. L. I. T. W.
The home of soggy bottom sausage rolls, coffees good
S. T.
OMG.. Best pies anywhere...
J. A.
Definitely somewhere to stop on your way to or from Canberra. A huge selection of pies, and gluten free ones as well. A very pleasant place to take a break.
J. H.
Great pies. Good to see there is no plastic wastage. Love using real cups & metal cutlery & I didn't need to buy sauce in plastic as you supply it on tap. Nice staff and warm atmosphere. We will be back.
C. S.
Good place to stop along the freeway at Sutton Forest. Ample parking and lots of tables will spaced out. Good collection of pies and baked goods and reasonable coffee.
A. A.
Great range of pies, a fantastic alternative to McDonald's. They make traditional milkshakes, unlimited sauce and lots of seating both inside and out. Also parking for caravans and buses. We will be back
A. S.
Tasty food, friendly service, but a little bit expensive. Located conveniently off the highway. Clean toilets. Heaps of parking
J. a. J. G.
Vegan pies available! Happy to know we can stop for some food and be accomodated as vegans! Thanks Heatherbrae's Pies! They were so good - the Mr had two!
A.
If your into pies, this has to be a place for you to stop at if you're on your way from Sydney to Canberra. They have both regular size and family size pies. What makes it even better is the friendly and helpful staff. The place as well decorated with an old world charm to it. It has a choice of sitting areas and clean facilities. Better alternative to stopping at the local McDonald's, even if it's just for a hot coffee.
P. S.
Hard to review this place, the staff are very friendly, the facilities are clean and well looked after, and it has some unique charm. Very nice to find something on the highway that's not a MacDonald's . However for a pie place the pies where very average. So the stars are more about the building and staff then the food
E. J.
Great tasting pies with good availability of all their selections. The service was friendly. It was nice and warm inside which was great on a cold day. Bathroom facilities including parents room are kept clean and tidy. A great alternative to the fast food across the road!
J. W.
Perfect pit stop coming in and out of Sydney. Staff are friendly, they have sensical COVID-19 measures in place and pies are always unbeatable.
Nothing like a warm pie to start or end a long road trip.
J. M.
Had to try the Gluten Free pies, after seeing the the adverts. Nothing wrong with it, but not all that either. It's another option on the trip south, but not on the "must do again" list.
L. S.
The satay chicken pie was ok but a little more flavour would've been nice. Quiche was good but GF pastry was hard sadly...
J. D.
Most favourite place to go to on a road trip. Both sweet and savoury pies are out of this word
Q. L.
Fast becoming a tradition for my friends and I to stop here on our occasional trips to Canberra
K.
No road trip between Canberra and Sydney is complete without a stop at Heatherbrae's Pies. The selection of pies and other savoury offerings is wide, the flavours are good and the pastry is amazing. If you're after something sweeter, the fruit pies, cakes and pastries will hit the spot.
Friendly service, plenty of tables for yourself and the family and well maintained rest rooms make this the perfect spot for a meal, or coffee and a snack.
N. P.
Warm inside, not crowded and a great range of pies and cakes. Good 0lace to stop

I dont like pies. But everytime I go down to canberra to visit my family i have to go to heatherbraes for the APPLE PIES AND FRESH CREAM. I can eat 5 of them in one go and this coming from someone who do not like pies. Their savory pies are great too! Its tucked behind maccas sutton forest. Please visit theyre so lovely there and just the best!
N.
Amazing pies and cakes! This is a great spot for a break while traveling along the Hume Highway. It is always clean with cheerful staff. There are areas for your dog to stretch their legs, and outdoor tables we have sat at with our dog. I’d recommend the pepper steak pie and the coffee is also great and made from locally grown beans.
M. C.
Very friendly service and choice of hot and cold pies. So many flavours to choose from with sweet and savoury varities.
Discovered that there was a drive through so did not need to get out of the car if you do not want to.
K. P.
Heatherbrae's has become a necessary stop on any trip from Sydney to Canberra.
Today I enjoyed my fave - a shepherd's pie. Made with lamb and vegetables and topped with a delicious mound of potato, this pie is a winner.
The only pie I have ever been disappointed in from Heatherbrae's has been the minced meat pie. Otherwise, all the pies and cakes from there are top notch.
B. A.
Liked the vibe. Different getup of the shop. Feels like in a mini car museum.
B. M.
This place is amazing - the pies are arguably the nicest on the Hume, and it's conveniently placed for a rest break between Sydney and Canberra. The shop is spacious, with plenty of seating both inside and outside, and a cosy Holden - themed decor. The staff, too, are friendly and accommodating, and the meals are served with actual cutlery on proper plates - your mother would be proud.
The coffees are pretty good too - certainly better than from the McDonald's or the servo.
C. e.
Love having a pie from here on way to or back from the snow from Sydney. Great fireplace in winter to warm you up too!
B. M.
Not had the pleasure as yet however my brother told our Dad and Mum about this place and they were very happy with there visit they especially made a fuss about the coffee they both have half strength flat white and commented that it was the best coffee and so creamy. They enjoyed custards tarts and each took their pies home to eat and enjoyed very much.
So we have studied the menu and can't wait to make a special trip to try.
So till then we will keep you posted.
.
J. D.
Clean, friendly, Australian vibe from 1970s. Meatpies, football, kangaroos and Holden cars. Noticed a photo of an old Ford. Nice
C.
Very tough rating a pie as tastes vary. If you like a pie, you will find a good one here. Nice drive to get there and you can dine in. Coffee , milkshakes, juices and softdrinks as well as cakes, donuts and fruit pies available.
D. W.
Whether you're heading north or south out of Sydney, you can grab a Heatherbrae pie or two, at Heatherbrae near Raymond Terrace to the north or at Sally's Corner, Exeter to the south. In fact, do a pie-shop-crawl like us ... 296 km in 3hrs5 (according to Google Maps).
T. C.
I had a lovely gluten-free pie mmmmmm tasted just like the real deal. Chicken gravy was as thick as custard yummo!
H. H.
Super friendly staff . Quality pies . Great location . Large parking lot to accommodate to all length vehicles . Always visit here when heading down south .
L. G.
Comfortable convenient stop on the highway. Can enjoy tasty patisserie products with good coffee to follow.
E. T.
The pies were pretty good but I swear half of them had the same ingredients. But I guess there is a limit to pie creativity and plus all the fillings are inside so there really isnt room for pie customisation by customers after the pies are made. Very nice decorations. The milkshakes were a bit plain in my sister's opinion but she drinks a lot of milkshakes so i dont know her standards. Anyway im guessing most of everyone who goes there is just stopping for a roadtrip meal anyways, not looking for some 5 star eatery.
N. M.
Great Experience
Tasty pies, sausage rolls and hot chips. A large range of cakes "Amazing Jam and Cream Donuts" Good Coffee, friendly staff.
We visit often
R. S.
I've stopped here a few times now. It's a 'proper Aussie pie place' which is great if you like that sort of thing. I'm not a huge fan of Aussie-style pies but I'm sure it's great if you do.
Prices are good at about $6 a pie.
M. A.
Nice rest stop for travellers between Canberra and Sydney. Serving an array of delicious pies and Sausage Rolls. Plenty of staff with friendly faces to serve you quickly. Only thing I did notice is there is no seating outside. We traveled with a pet and it would be nice to sit outside and enjoy a pie while the pup gets some fresh air.
J. C.
Yummy pies all sorts.
S. D.
Dropped in for a quick bite, facilities were clean and tidy. Staff friendly, no issues. Pie seems to have changed from when here last, very 'mincey'.
D.
Gourmet meat pie shop. Stretch the legs and grab a meat pie from Heatherbrae’s Pies. You can drive through, eat in or take away.
The beef, bacon and cheese pie (Jillaroo) is yum!
K. B.
On a slightly busy Friday night the service seemed a bit chaotic. And the pies were ordinary. My comment was that a 4and20 from Cole's was as good. Wouldn't stop here again.
w. b.
They have a good selection of pies and pastries plus hot and cold drinks.have stopped here plenty of times now, good staff too.
N. C.
A nice place to sit and take a break. Wpuld suggest they plant more deciduous trees to shade in summer and all sun to warm in winter. The pies are good fare. Wish they did the salmon pie more often. Drinks are good too. Plenty of parking.
J. M.
Tried a steak mince pie, pastry was light and fluffy, but the filling was not any different to a frozen pie from Woolies. Will need to go back and try others. Heaps of flies and they might be better off with plastic cutlery as I nearly threw the metal ones in the bin.
A. G.
Yummy, worth it but because of huge demand on long weekend I don't think they were not enough. Understandable though.
S. P.
Delicious pies and they have GF options available too. You can use drive through or eat in. Super friendly staff.
E. K.
Short queue on very busy day - nice. From good counter service I think.
Some items out of stock, toilets needed attention but that's very unusual (we are multiple repeat customers).
Pie was a 7/10 from a really fussy pie fan - mushroom and steak. Tasty filling, fresh mushrooms, not tinned, some nice chunks but could use more. Disappointing pastry - failed the one hand eating test through lack of structural integrity because of being rolled too thin and turned a little soggy in the warmer. Way beyond average suburban bakery pies though.
P. E.
Pies are nice.
Unfortunately I ordered the banana bread. I can't believe it when told they could only toast it before 10.30am. Sandwich press is not too hard later in the day I'm sure.
Also no butter or jam offered. Unfortunately not a pleasant experience for this member of our family.
A. S.
Friendly staff, clean facilities, friends got the gluten free option which wasn't available at maccas, got the 2 'best' pies which were better than 7 11 pies. Cheers.
S. B.
Nice food but the size of the sausage rolls is extremely dissapointing considering you are looking forward to a feed instead of Mcdonalds across the road and the price.
J.
Had the steak and mushroom pie. It wasn't that great. Found that it was lacking flavour. Other than that it was an alright pie. The pastry was the saving grace.
A. G.
Great 🥧 and sausage rolls. Must stop at Sutton Forest
G. M.
Busy place, needed to queue. Gluten free pies are great. Best I have found so far.
D. B.
Awesome pies! Become super busy these days because of the awesomeness of the pies. Area that can improve, the toilets are hammered by all the travellers and don’t appear to be regularly maintained and cleaned, is only let down.
M. C.
Not your average Australian Pie, generous filling and very tasty all fresh made with a variety of fillings plus a good mixture of 😋 yummy cakes and slices spotlessly clean with Covid19 sign in NB top end prices so beware upto $7.00 plus some may say expensive but quality ingredients, lots of parking and good coffee ☕
D. M.
Great Pies good service - great coffee
S. M.
Was served by two lovely ladies early this morning at around 7. They were very kind and friendly, and their service was very quick. Had the delicious cherry pie with a coffee.
P. I.
Great pies, especially the "pie with peas", and clean facilities. Apple pies aren't bad either. Decent coffee. We will stop there again.
S. H.
A great traditional family stop. Good range and reasonable quality. Sometimes the cakes and pies can be a little dry, but always satisfying.
J. C.
Great selection of yummy pies and other sweet goodies. The staff are very friendly and accommodating when you find something on the menu you didn't see initially and just change you order for you.
The restaurant is very clean with staff out and about cleaning up.
T.
Pie was delicious and service was great
T. S.
I've been to the original one near Newcastle a few times and I was amazed to find this so identical! Same great pies, same great dessert, and the same building! Well, what looks like the same building 😉
G. T.
Best pie pastry bar none. Best to go in the morning. Got there at 8pm. Slim pickings
S. P. P.
If you wanted a break from the regular mccas burgers, stop here for a change. Place is decent, however the pies could have been a bit better.
B. B.
Pies are awesome. But the coffee needs some work. Either th baristas aren't trained properly or the machines aren't cleaned/calibrated properly. Rarely get a good coffee there :(
C. G.
Prices of the pies are roughly $6 -$10 and totally worth it no grissle or fatty meat
P. C. (.
Great pies. Spot-on pastry. Bushman's my favourite. Add a cream filled cinnamon donut and you have the perfect stop-off along the hume
A. S.
Best pies in the universe!
S. A.
Great taste, love it! A must stop on the way to Canberra.
J. S.
Great pies,but costly
R. B.
Great pies at reasonable prices
G. R.
Best pie I've had in a while (shepherds). Even the spinach cheese pie, usually hit or miss at places, was great. Good ice chocolate, good friendly service.
A. E.
Oh Heatherbrae, oh Heatherbrae where art thou Heatherbrae? Pies are always fresh. Always delicious and the staff are always doing a fantastic job. Every month I head down to Goulburn for work and so, every month I make the stop and purchase me a pie! Yummo! Go on, get yourself a pie! And for the tradies on the run, drive thru is perfecto!
K. M.
We stopped here for lunch on our trip to Canberra, as it is about half way in the journey. There is also a service station, a MacDonalds restaurant, a KFC and an Oporto restaurant in the immediate area. Having enjoyed the experience of the Heatherbrae's Pies near Gosford, we expected to find a similar standard here. Perhaps they needed more staff. Perhaps the staff they had hired were still mostly in their teens and inexperienced. A few tables had used crockery and utensils left on them. It appeared that clearing away used tables was, during this visit at least, not a regular part of their routine. There were also quite a few annoying flies inside the restaurant. I ordered a standard meat pie and found it to be just warm, not hot at all. It could have been that at lunchtime the turnover in the warming over is quicker that it takes to actually heat the products. I was disappointed and I am not inclined to return there again any time soon.
G. T.
A great place to stop for lunch while travelling..... good service and great pies . just follow the road to the car park.
M. C.
Good range of pies at really good value prices. I had the pepper steak and it was definitely packed with pepper. Crispy fries were the winner for me though.
S. W.
Really nice Curry Chicken Pie.
E. B.
Great selection and the sausage rolls are just like the ones growing up. Coffee was great.
t. p.
Great tasting pies, good coffee. Nice and friendly staff
B. J.
The service was endearing to say the least. The pies themselves had a rich variety, plenty of options to choose from and the family pies they were selling were humongous! Nonetheless, their pies are quite in comparison with Harry's Cafe de Wheels.
K. Q.
Friendly service and great pies. Perfect alternative if you dont want Maccas on the trip south.
S. S.
Good coffee and a great selection of pies and other tasty treats!
M. M.
Good pies and a restful break on your way to Canberra from Sydney. Their kitchen runs through the day so if you're lucky you could get fresh pies hot straight from of the kitchen!
A. P.
Quality pies. Good service.
A. B.
Stopped here on the way back from Sydney - friendly staff, good pies but the men’s bathroom was filthy. It’s a quick, cheap meal that is a good alternative to McDonalds.
The spinach & cheese sausage roll would be my recommendation.
p.
The garden quiche was fluffy and light and really tasty, and I thoroughly anjoyed the cherry apple pie too. A way better option than Maccas or servo food, and the service and cleanliness were excellent.
A. L.
Friendly staff, delicious coffee and top notch pies. This place is seriously the eggs legs and the bees knees. I stop here every time I travel to Sydney. Every aingle pie I've tried is freaking awesome, and that is both sweet and savoury.
Stopping here should be the 'stop, revivie, survive' spot for everyone. As someone who drinks black coffee, it's brilliant to have a place to stop with rad staff who know how to make a cup without burning it! I also remember to take some pies home! And strawberry donuts!!! Mmm...
A. M.
A good alternative to McDonald's in Sutton Forest service centre. Located halfway between Sydney and Canberra and accessible from both directions of the motorway. Has a few vegetarian options too.
O. J. 4.
Best pie I've had since pies and milkshakes where in every shop. Main attraction the FJ Holden Ute for sure
J. S.
Lovely friendly service and beautiful food and coffee.
A. M.
Great place to stop on the way down the Hume. You can always find a clean table, unlike the McDonald's next door. Helpful friendly and prompt unlike the roadhouse at the shell. Open when I am driving past unlike Trappers Pies at Goulburn.
S. A.
Delicious pies and cakes, good drinks and friendly staff. You couldn't ask for more! Good parking, we've called in with trailers and parked ok.
P. G.
Beautiful clean new facility. Great service, good variety of drinks, including lovely freshly squeezed orange juice, lovely pies, great parking and turning area for caravans, clean toilets..
J. H.
Great pies! Frozen packs easily available.
They have some really strange flavours available, which is really fun to try.
T. H.
Exceptional great pies made professionally with a proper pie crust & superb flavoursome fillings. Best pies, thoroughly recommended congratulations well done.
H. A.
Delicious award winning Aussie pies. My favourite was however, their Apple pies, Blueberry and Apple pies and their Vanilla slice- some of the best I've had in Australia.
C. S.
What can I say.
Can't beat a great pie
M. D.
Best vanilla slice, wasn't too impressed with the pies though.
M. C.
Too notch pies! If you're after the basics or something with a little flare, this fast food alternative is perfect for your road trip pit stop. Paired with a milk shake or a coffee makes for a great stop-revive-survive
M. O.
Great pies and great service
P. G.
Outstanding selection of fresh pies and cakes, they also have a frozen take away section.
D. V.
Ask for the apple pie to be warmed and served with fresh cream, you will have a much better day from there on...
K. G.
Pies were yum but the sausage rolls were mini and very expensive. A much nicer fast food meal then Maccas.
S. K.
Amazing pies both savoury and sweet. Also you get fresh juices.
F. C.
Stopped here a few times now...and it's always good...pepper steak and curry chicken are delicious...and cherry pie for dessert...yum!
p. r.
Best pie I've ever had the patisserie,s are are so good 😋
G. C.
Delicious and very hearty. Had the Shepherd's. And no cost for sauce! Well organised for current distancing requirements.
A. A.
Great range of pies, a fantastic alternative to McDonald's. They make traditional milkshakes, unlimited sauce and lots of seating both inside and out. Also parking for caravans and buses. We will be back
J. H.
Great pies. Good to see there is no plastic wastage. Love using real cups & metal cutlery & I didn't need to buy sauce in plastic as you supply it on tap. Nice staff and warm atmosphere. We will be back.
S. S.
Great pit stop on the way to Canberra from Sydney. Chicken veg pie!!
F. B.
I usually stop here for a bite and coffee. It is clean, has plenty of parking and seating, and the staff are friendly. I wouldn't say their prices are cheap, but neither are they over the top. I do appreciate being able to pour sauce on my …

If your into pies, this has to be a place for you to stop at if you're on your way from Sydney to Canberra. They have both regular size and family size pies. What makes it even better is the friendly and helpful staff. The place as well …
N. P.
Great place to stop on the way out of Sydney. It is good on the way into Sydney too. Interesting vehicle parked inside the restaurant. Definitely worth a stop.
M. W. H.
Pretty dam good last minute desserts variety of fruit pies we'll be back
E. B. S.
Good pies, nice place for breakfast. The coffee was ok.
D. C.
The pie was full of meat, the coffee excellent and the staff friendly and efficient.
E. L.
Try the Ned Kelly Pie when you get the chance.
C. H.
First time at Heatherbrae's Exeter but numerous times at the flagship at Raymond Terrace where service is excellent.
A little disappointed with time taken for service at Exeter though as there was only half a dozen people in shop seated and 2 of us with uncomplicated orders. Staffing seemed adequate but not fully utilised.
Vanilla slices to die for...
G. C.
Friendly service a wide variety of tasty pies and great coffee.
R. B.
Inconsistant filling quality. A regular toilet stop but yet to have a good pie. Nice, clean roomy venue.
G. C.
Delicious and very hearty. Had the Shepherd's. And no cost for sauce! Well organised for current distancing requirements.
C. P.
Good times good vibes good pie
J. F.
Probably some of the best pies I have eaten. Always great service. Everything seems to be baked on site. Recommend stopping here instead of Macca's.
T. E.
The food is really great but we received the best customer service in our lives here. The person at the counter was so genuinely enthusiastic and a prompted the 5 star review!
C. N.
Another addition to the Heatherbrae's pies this time located in Suttons Forest. On your way down the to the ACT for the weekend? About hour and a half out of Sydney, the selection is about the same as their other location but the same great taste.
A. A.
Best pies I've had in a while and the lamington was so soft and freshly made! Heaps of parking, clean place, friendly and fast service. Beats having to eat at the Maccas..
M. D.
Great pies, many varieties. Don't forget that besides eating there, you can take any number home and stick in the freezer for later. Mmm...chicken curry pie.
R.
Pies are great but the caramel tarts are the best I've ever had. Hard to beat. Avoid the crowds at Macca's and take the time to drop in.
B. L.
Heatherbrae pies has always been a great place to stop and have something to eat, and its even better now that there are 2 locations, 1 for those traveling south of Sydney and the original for those traveling north of Sydney
M. K.
Is a good place to stop on the Hume Highway. Nowhere near as crowded as golden arches or bakery at Goulburn. Chips not at all nice, but very clean and welcoming over all. Good facilities...
R. K.
Pies are very good. Recommend the Stockman pie. The coffee is average but for country area it's ok.
Prices for pies on the touch high sided but that's life these days.
S. B.
Best pies. So good. Prices are super reasonable.
D. C.
An absolute must to stop in and have a pie. Heatherbrae pies is legendary. My favorites are the Curry Chicken and the Steak and Mushroom!
I. R.
great food and good service
S. S.
The pies here are fantastic. The spinach and feta saugage rolls are probably one of the best I've had. Clean shop with friendly staff.
C. W.
Situated behind the Maccas at the Sutton Forest service centre, this pie shop is great. The staff were friendly and the pies were delicious.
J. R.
Convenient location. Great pies, pastries and cakes. Recommended.
D. C.
I love this place, amazing service and the worlds best pies!!!!! bthe chicken curry is right up there... and the custard tarts are like none other.... cant wait to go on my next road trip and stop in!
G. F.
Best pies and pastries between Sydney and Brisbane via Pacific Highway. Good coffee. Very busy at meal times.
T. S.
Steak and vegie pie was nice but not many veggies. Found the range of pies available to be limited and prices a little on the high side.
W. C.
Great pies and service as usual. Timing a stop here works well on a Sydney to Canberra drive.
M.
Great alternative to the usual highway food options. A bit more variety would be nice in terms of something other than pies and sausage rolls but i still go back every trip.
P. M.
Good selections of Pies. Location is remote but can do 5 stars if the person at the counter smiles more or at least greet the customers and say thanks.
B. H.
Some of the best pies I've ever had. The Moroccan Lamb pie is incredible. Great milkshakes too
R. P.
Best Service . Great pies. Sorry no pic of pie. All eaten.
A must pit stop heading home.
Very clean and kid friendly.
M.
Great selection of tasty pies. Nice place to stop for a break
R. J.
Love the pies. Staff are great and friendly. Place is a dream to be in compared to others in same area. Will always be dropping by now I know they are there.
V. L.
Their pies & eateries are fresh & tasty. Have been several times & have not been disappointed
W. B.
Pie was fine, but a bit bland. Very generic pastry, Heatherbrae's definitely feels like a chain pie store.
H. H.
The pies are nice but I wish they'd improve their coffee. I find it a bit weak and tasteless and usually have tea
K. H.
What a great little stop along the road! Seriously, one of the best pies I've had in ages, and a lovely in-store dining area!
J. G.
I have always stopped at the Heatherbrae store when travelling north, so glad to have this one for my travels south. Large selection of tasty pastries both savoury and sweet.
B. B.
Love the pies, a good alternative to maacas on the way to Canberra
S. H.
Nice pies should have a combo deal. Pie,chips and a drink
O. B.
Best pies I have had in a very very long time.
Great to see real cutlery and paper plate options too, well done.
J. V.
Best variety of pies on the Hume Hwy. Well worth the stop
I. V.

Great Pies.
Best place to stop for a break along Hume Hwy!
A. S.
Friendly staff, clean facilities, friends got the gluten free option which wasn't available at maccas, got the 2 'best' pies which were better than 7 11 pies. Cheers.
M. C.
Good range of pies at really good value prices. I had the pepper steak and it was definitely packed with pepper. Crispy fries were the winner for me though.

S. S.
Excellent service. Very clean and friendly place.
Pies were delicious.
Check out the classic 1954 Holden fj ute. Parked inside the shop.
M. G.

T. R.
Great place, good quality baked goods to have on site or take away
S. A.

S. B.
Great pies and extras
S. W.
Do your self a favour, skip maccas and stop here. The pies are great and the sausage roll is one of the best I've ever had!
D. F.
It's a lovely stop between Sydney and Camberra. The pies are fantastic and always fresh. Definitely worth a visit.
N. P.
THE BEST PIES AND PASTRIES EVER. So damn delicious. PERFECT balance of pasty to meat ratio. Just amazing!!!!
G. P.
OK so the Sausage Rolls are a bit small but wow are they tasty! Order two and you'll be fine!
P. S.
One place to stop to have amazing pies and sausage rolls and amazing cook hot chips, but one thing, the staff keep walking around circles, no one helping out the back to cook the chips,
M. M.
Ned Kelly Pie is yummy even if half of it is filled with egg :) Though ambiance is very cool.
A. J.
very good pie place. convenient stop along the freeway
T. S.
Skip the GF beef and head straight to the Walnut Veg... And I love beef
C. S.
Great pies. I just wish they had outlets everywhere. These people know pies and it shows. Love them.
J. B.
This was absolutely amazing. Loved the food and the ambiance of you establishment. Have already recommended this to fellow travellers. Thank you when we return we will definitely call in.
t.
They're pies are just average, forget the awards as whoever is rating them has no taste/clue - I know one of the managers who a friend and still tell her the pies are rubbish
E. H.
Have stopped here several times and as always good pies, hot tea. A great break on the journey back to Canberra
A. F.
Good parking , clean and hygenic, staff friendly and service is good. Pies are OK, but a surprise to find the mash, peas and gravy served in plastic containers!
J.
There GF Vegan Walnut Vegy Pie is great
P. M.
Food was hot, drinks cold, social distancing is practised. The staff were friendly and helpful.
K. M.
Tasty food. Sausage Roll half the size of a regular one? Service was cold, bordering on rude...
E. B. (.
Really nice and different pies , friendly staff
J. N.
A baked dinner in a pie case. WOW! That and the vegan pies are fabulous.
S. F.
Nice spot but pies lacked flavour. Had the steak and mushroom. A bit more seasoning to savour it up would work.
S. M.
Pretty great variety and tasty pies!
S. B.
Good service and very friendly service pies are good but not the best ones I have had but still pretty good
S. R.
Great pies just a shame they don't know how to make tea.... and it didn't come till we were nearly finished our pie.
A.
Enjoyed the pie and coffee; there are some tasty salads in the fridge; clean space and pleasant atmosphere. Will go again!
B. V.
Always great fresh tasty pies and don't forget the coffee.
S. S.
Great pit stop on the way to Canberra from Sydney. Chicken veg pie!!
C. C.
Relaxed environment-great break stop for car trip.
k. m.
Menu hasn't changed much from the original up north for years, but it is a pie shop and the pies are consistent.
A. P.
Best pies and sausage roll. Perfect stop over between Syd and Canberra road trip
S. S.
Regular stop over when heading to and from Sydney. Recommend Pepper Steak and Curry Chicken pie.
K. D.
Pies are very yummy. I travel from Canberra to buy these just to put in the freezer for later.
P. P.
The best Pies I have had from any pie shop out there.
M. A.
Pleasantly surprised by this place. Relaxed and friendly. Really mainly pies, quiches and salads but if you're OK with that, fantastic.
S. K.
Very good pies. Very clean toilets, plenty of parking and friendly staff.
J. D.
Unfriendly staff and the A/C was blasting ice cold making it unbearable to enjoy dining.
J. D.
Great pies. Only downside is the single use plates and bags for eating in - not very eco friendly.
C. C.
Very clean & more importantly, very delicious pies & cakes. We will definitely go back again
T. F.
More than just pies. Lots of bakery yummies and coffee. Food very nice but a bit expensive. Worth it!!
J. F.
Love this place. Plenty of parking. Great coffee and food. Accessible north and south bound.
M. O.
Wonderful pies worth the effort of stopping
L. R.
Great pies. We always go there if we are going past the place. Very friendly atmosphere.
