This gets me up in the morning: kimchi, provolone, chili croissant ($12 each - quite pricey but it’s different and so tasty). My colleague is raving for their almond croissant too - will try later. Coffee has been good and consistent since the first days they opened up shops. They also sell really good sourdough bread and some other interesting things in their menu.

Almond croissant: all the croissant I had in the past are fake. Frangipane fill me up easily.
Focaccia: (without topping or filling) I had it the second day, toasted. Nice but not as special as people said. Would give it another go after Xmas.

These may be the best pastries I have ever had, and I am so excited to go back as they change up their offerings all the time.
We got the twist ($6.50) - I adore that there's not just cinnamon but turmeric (you can't tell from the exterior but the dough is yellow), cardamom and vanilla which gave it such a well-rounded spicedness, bringing to mind curry in the best possible way. The pastry layers in their viennoiserie are so sharp and well-defined and so crisp, so buttery and full of butter flavour without feeling weighed down by butter. And the twist, in particular, was so perfectly golden-brown all over and practically crunchy on the ends, you'd question whether or not it was actually deep-fried.

I highly prefer tarts and Danishes where the fruit is baked in rather than added as a garnish post-bake because caramelised fruit (and veg) is magic. Hence the whole apple nestled within the apple Danish ($6.50) sparked joy. Love the gorgeous shape of it too.
The scrambled egg foccacia ($16) was also fantastic. There was potato, there was chilli (plus shishito peppers on top), there was silky soft butter-scrambled eggs - freshly scrambled to order, of course - such an amazing idea. Only thing (which I'm not even sure I don't like) was some of the potato slices were a touch too dry and crunchy - I might've preferred them tenderer?
Also, side-note: they ask if you want your pastries reheated, and that's something I really love. Why yes, I would love my pastries restored to their optimum as if freshly pulled out of the oven! A small thing that makes a big difference to me :)

Best almond croissant in Sydney and I've had a lot of almond croissants in Sydney. Amazing fresh panettone. And their focaccia is mind-blowing. Highly recommend this bakery.
A. V.
Easy five stars on this one. The cinnamon twist and the croissants have been fantastic every time. coffee is good on the weekends too. Only heads up: the opening hours are weird, also they often run out of bread early. Do the maths and arrive there a bit earlier in the morning to try their best stuff!
H. M.
Great customer service and good bread! Ordered almond croissant it was so good! Would like tru another bread !
M. I.
Based on reviews here, I have expected a lot from this bakery.
Unfortunately, you can see on the photo chocolate croissant, which is so empty and not flaky at all (as it should be).
The loaf of bread was good though.
Still, it’s a bakery, and expectation of pastry is high for it.
M. G.
Phenomenal food and coffee. They make their own almond milk and it was delicious. I've never tasted any coffee like that in my life - and I mean that the best way possible. I had an egg sandwich, almond croissant and Danish for breakfast. The pastry and bread were outstanding.
They are also a venue who are taking the COVID safe approach very seriously (hence the no cash as per the very unfair below review), & are rightfully following all the recommended approaches meticulously. I'm happy to pay a tap-n-go % surcharge that equals 50¢, to limit the risk of a COVID outbreak in my country & to help keep a small business afloat.
M.
Best ham and cheese scrolls in Sydney! I also really love their almond croissant, plain croissant, and cinnamon twist. Focaccia is great too! So is the breakfast pizza .. Can't really go wrong no matter what you choose tbh
J. E.
An amazing Egyptian bakery in PYRMONT.
Delicious pastries and a unique and delicious breakfast offering. Their banana bread is absolutely fantastic!
Coffee is great too and friendly staff keep me coming back over and over again!
Highly recommend!

Line it up… stumbled upon this place while looking for a coffee in Pyrmont. I saw the line and decided to get amongst it.
I ordered a couple of pastries which were very tasty. The staff were friendly and I didn’t feel rushed even though it was busy.
Price-wise this place is on the higher end of bakeries but when you see the set-up inside it’s no surprise.
I highly recommend a visit.
W. L.
What can I say. The best bakery in Sydney. I drive from Chatswood to Pyrmont it is that good. Unfortunately the bread and pastries don't last long once the family know Pioik goodies are in the larder.
D. M.
What a brilliant cafe! The owners are Egyptian so there is a middle eastern twist on the amazing food here. ‘Pioik’ actually means ‘coptic’ in Egyptian Arabic. Friendly service, great coffee and AMAZING baked goods -
Both traditional and something a little different.
v. r.
Must have, great coffee, quality bread, haven't had a loaf I haven't liked though the wholemeal is my favourite. Crisp croissants. I can never resist the foccacia slice of the day and the egg sandwich.
A. S.
"The croissants seem like they're fresh out of a French bakery "
Staff is amazing and very friendly. A good start to the day is ensured if you're here.

We’ve been wanting to try Egyptian bakery, Pioik for a while now. Positive word of mouth as well as sampling things in other cafes led us to making a trip to Pyrmont.
The store is quite small, located on Harris Street in Pyrmont. The front counter showcases the goodies on sale but you can also see the bakery production behind.
We scan the display case and note an array of treats from almond croissants to snails and some savoury goodies too such as the Pioik egg sandwich. We purchase the Pioik scrambled egg foccacia, which despite being $15!!! (For a small bread), was certainly extremely tasty. Crispy bread topped with a tomato sauce cheese and a dollop of scrambled egg on each piece.
They have a great range of breads, though they are outrageously expensive at $25 for the 2kg Eporo, 16 for a loaf of Etyoo (5 grains), Kemo (Rye and Caraway) or Foccacia to name a few. You may wish to only but half a loaf or a small baguette to save your pennies.
That said it’s worth a trip, for it is delicious.
Be sure to check opening hours, for it only opens Thurs - Sunday, 7am-11am

Love this place!! It's a cute little bakery cafe with great coffee and the Egyptian breakfast is fantastic! The staff are super nice and we got our food and coffee very quickly! Highly recommend!
A. L.
I got the egg sandwich triangle, and it was unlike any egg sandwich I’ve ever had before. First, the focaccia! Oh, the focaccia! Its crust was shatteringly crisp, and the insides were soft and light. The egg frittata was also great, bouncy but not rubbery, with what tasted like spinach mixed in. The tomato relish wasn’t very noticeable, so I wouldn’t have minded tasting that more. All in all, that was probably the best egg sandwich I’ve ever had. It doesn’t come cheap, though. But if you want to treat yourself to a nice, not-too-heavy brunch sandwich, I heartily recommend this one.
M. O.
Ridiculously yummy bakery with great coffee. Only negatives are they don’t have a bathroom (direct you to the pub down the road which isn’t even open, not cool when your kid needs to go) and single use plastic cups.
R. L.
Great boutique bakery offering a delicious selection of breads and pastries. I dropped in to get a quick bite and grabbed one of their Egg sandwiches. For something that looked really simple, it had so much flavour. Definitely looking forward to going back and trying the Breakfast pizza .
K. P.
Without doubt, the best bakery I have ever experienced in Sydney. The bread is delicious, the Savoury foods are outstanding, and the variety is abundant. You will not find another bakery as sophisticated as this PiOiK Bakery. Thank you for every five star experience I enjoy each time I come in. Regards Kris
S. B.
Busy and cosy shop, staffs appear to be professional and friendly. I think the food is over priced. E.g. an almond croissant is $7. And it is not even baked fresh on the day. The one I brought this morning was kinda hard and cold. Sorry but I probably will not return.
C.
I just realized they gave me 2 croissants, but I paid for 3. I should’ve double checked it. Anyways, at least they are yummy...
P. B.
Sourdough was very good and worth a visit to try it but thought some of the pastries on offer were a bit pricey.
H. I.
First time Egyptian breakfast and very happy I tried it....food was light and coffee complemented the food very well.
J.
Highly recommended to try this Egyptian Street food. So fresh from the herbs n taste so good w the sesame bagle(?). Coffee is average though
S. D.
The focaccia is to die for. The service is great too... Just the hours are limited so get in quickly!
Q. G. B.
A cute bakery with some nice breakfast offerings. Portions are a bit on the small size for me. Make an amazing espresso
w. c.
The almond croissant with the chocolate ganache like bits on top was my fav. Pastry was flaky and you could really taste the almond filling. Also recommend the plain croissant which was nice and fluffy.
e. r.
Maybe the best bakery in Sydney for sure. As a French pastry chef, I have been looking for a quality bread! The Egyptian roots of Pioik brings the quality and taste at another level. When you have a bite of their bread, you understand straight away! Make sure to try their croissants as well!
It is worth it trust me !!!
E. S.
This is a cafe-bakery that you will easily fall in love with. Coffee is amazing and food is delicious.
P. A.
A little 'spenny but so delicious! Pastries extra crunchy and brown. 5-grain sourdough is a winner. Seriously yummo.
l. b. j.
Great to sit and watch the bakery action take place, their menu looks great. Only had a coffee - quite a dark roast which tasted a bit average considering the nice machine, skilled baristas and amazing milk. Changing the blend could bring this up to a five star coffee place.
S. L.
Great coffee
Great service
Very good bread
a. s.
Four years ago I did a review and it’s still great, Rose and Shady are the hardest working couple in Sydney I reckon and the quality of the food reflects the passion and hard work 👏
I don’t get as much time to visit these days but it makes when I do more enjoyable.
—-
The coffee is good but you go here for the bakery goods, they do a croissant with what I call a coronation / almond flavoured spicy scrabble egg and chives, amazing. But you shouldn't miss a plane straight up croissant with your coffee.
They are the best I've found in Sydney, a crisp outer with a light fluffy inside. So good you can eat them without anything added.
L. Q.
Artisanal bread which you just can't say no to. I try to reduce my carbs but the bread here is too good to refuse!
R. S.
Strong, strong croissant. Some of the best I've had in Australia.
N. U.
That was the most amazing breakfast/brunch. The Egyptian breakfast was delicious!!!
V. T.
Amazing Egyptian breakfast and nice coffee, beautiful breakfast pizza 🍕
m.
Delicious coffee and food. The smashed avo was super tasty with an innovative touch of radish. Highly recommend.
B. N.
This shop has delicious coffee, super fresh baked goods, and really good breakfast options! My wife and I loved coming here several times during our visit to Sydney, and liked it so much we brought a business colleague of mine. Very friendly people, quick service, and a great way to spend part of our morning.
M. B.
Amazing place, brilliant coffee and chocolate croissants for breakfast, don't miss it.
J. B.
I had the Egyptian breakfast which came quickly and was very well prepared. Also went another time and had some excellent pastries. Good quality of food, and excellent coffee.. My only complaint is the coffee, on both occasions, arrived 10 minutes after the food did! I really hate it when I go to a restaurant and everyone is running about half crazed but the guy behind the coffee machine needs to hustle a bit more.
P. F.
OMG! This bakery is off the charts; the chocolate croissants are competing with the ones we had in France and hands down one of the best you can find in Sydney. The offer to heat them up just elevated the experience. We also had the simit and it was to die for!
L. S.
Good pastries, almond and choc croissant very tasty. Coffee was okay but tasted weak. Would visit again !
J. B.
I was given a Pioik Bakery Panettone as a gift. It was so beautifully presented with glorious artwork on the box. We opened it, and OMG it was so delicious! The best Panettone I have ever eaten. If you love good food this is the place to be.
C. A.
Excellent long black, the best I’ve had in Sydney and that’s a big call. Crazy-amazing bread and cakes and pastries. Worth the price tag for this quality product. You will not regret a visit to this place
A. P.
Best bakery in town. They change their products weekly so there is always something new. The savoury Danish is amazing
E. E.
Enjoyed delicious coffee and pastries from Pioik for brunch. Such a vibrant fun p lace to visit. The staff seemed to be really enjoying there work and the venue packed with locals.
Took some of the bread ( is delicious) on our road trip. If well only lived closer to Sydney this would be a regular pilgrimage for us. Still anytime I am in Sydney I would drive across town to visit this artisan bakery
B. D.
I really lovely cafe in the heart of Pyrmont. Warm and inviting the man who greeted us behind the counter was incredibly friendly and helpful.
They have a full working kitchen and bakery making food here GREAT! Try some of the traditional breads and pastries these guys are churning out and have a taste of the honeycomb which is on offer. Coffee is very good to which is a win win.
R. H.
The best food and always friendly service!
L.
Popular bakery in Prymont area. Good coffee and staff as well.
l. g.
Nice bakery with a good variety of croissants...
J. C.
Honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had, and a must-stop if you’re in Sydney - or rather, Australia! they make the most incredible homemade almond milk, serve coffee with a tiny little cookie and have an open kitchen where you can see the staff smiling laughing and working away. Such a beautiful, cosy, warm spot that’s very hard to leave!
J. B.
Saturday discovered Pioik, bought a delicious seeded ring of bread (one size up from a simit), so good, I went back for another on Sunday. Very disappointed in how stale and hard it was. Next time I'll be asking what day the bread was baked.
W. O.
Friendly staff and a huge open air bakery behind the counter churning out fresh pastries and rolls are a recipe for success in this Pyrmont cafe on Harris Street. The expansive window counter seats make for prime people watching within decor that is decidedly clean, minimal and inspired modernist. Coffee is decent.
R. G.
I like the feel of the place. But I bought a $9 square of bread and butter pudding that tasted no better than a $3 treat at Coles.
E. T.
A go to bakery in Pyrmont for excellent breads, pastries and cakes
S. Y.
A boutique cafe which means it has interesting stuff and high-end price tags. The atmosphere here is fantastic; I love to enjoy a cuppa and chill. But I don't come here anymore after the initial lets-try-it-out. The menu seems sophisticated but I wouldn't say so to the flavour and how healthy it is.
A. E.
I have been coming to this cafe ever since it was opened. Now that we have to move away from Pyrmont we will really miss the amazing coffee, cakes, pastries and bread offerings from Pioik. Shady and his team and Rose always greet with smiles and a chat. They make everything fresh and from local organic suppliers, even the almond milk is made onsite. Thank you Pioik for pleasing us with your amazing food and coffee XO
C. N.
AMAZING! Explosion on my tastebuds! I work around the corner and get a different dish from here every 2-3 weeks. The roasted Vegtables are incredible, really tasty and full of flavour. The soup what I've had today has made me jump on here to write a review. SOOOOOO GOOD! Its a cold and rainy day, just what the doctor ordered. I couldn't even tell you what kind of soup it is, every time I take another spoonful I taste a new flavour! Bread compliments it so well and the butter was great. Packaged perfectly for me to venture in the rain back to work with my hot soup!
Staff are always friendly even with it being super busy today.
Thanks for your Incredible food & service! <3
K. Y.
This wonderful bakery has the most amazing breads and pastries, the care given to the presentation and preparation of the pasteries was a step above your average bakery, highly recommended for breakfast.
B. B.
Waited for quite a bit for coffee takeaway on Sunday morning. No discount for keep cup. Slightly pricey. But the coffee didn't let me down. Will go back.
S. K.
Best bakery in Sydney! Delicious dishes and breads. Our favourites are the breakfast dishes & homemade soups. You can tell a lot of love goes into this family-style bakery.
J. F.
Sumptuous fresh bakery with an amazing selection of freshly backed breads... extremely welcoming staff, especially Rose. Will definitely be back
K. O.
The Egyptians breakfast is awesome. Picture attached.
I. B.
Delicious pastries and great atmosphere. Staff are super friendly and the owner too, who is really engaged with customers. My favourite place in Pyrmont for a coffee meet up.
P. S.
We've just had the cinamon walnut scroll, and it was out of this world! crunchy skin and soft in the inside the flavour was on the spot, not too sweet. Great and friendly service. Amazing bread!
R. S.
Lovely food, and good value. Had the pioik egg sandwich and banana bread. Took about 10 minutes for each to be served, which was longer than I'd expected, but I was in just before they closed.
P. L.
Very smooth coffee, very friendly staff. Only had a takeaway croissant but will come back to try the rest of the bakery menu
D. A.
Good regular cappuccino. Bad almond one.
Almond milk is 1$ extra, double than in most places.
Good pastries but expencive
M. V.
Great coffee. Staff is always friendly and fast. Food is pretty decent and they got some interesting selection.
I recommend the triangle.
R. S.
The best bakery in Sydney if not the world. The owners are absolute gems, great staff, amazing food - coffee is worth the wait. Brilliant place.
J. M.
I walked in this place literally 5+ times over a year and never ordered anything, they really do a poor job of enticing you or even presenting a menu of options. However, they put up a tiny menu recently and I finally tried something - and it's quite delicious!
R. G.
A great bakery right in the heart of Pyrmont. Great place to meet friend d's for a coffee and something to eat. Their unique Egyptian fresh bread and naked goodies are worth the visit.
A. S.
A fantastic array of amazing breads and pastries, original sandwiches and other great eats, not to mention some tasty coffee in a working-friendly environment. A great place to hide from the rain in Pyrmont.
A. N.
What a find! Love this bakery, different offerings and great bread. If you want Rye bread the way it is meant to be, get it here as well. Very friendly staff (owners) as well.
J. R.
Each visit the food we got served was tasty, delicious and fresh. The coffee just right too. I foresee that we will visit here again (and again)
A. P.
One of the best bakeries in Sydney.
D. D.
A proper bakery finally exists in Pyrmont! But it did take over the French patisserie that had the most amazing cake: creme brulee dome - all those years ago... Shady the Baker is Egyptian but Italian-trained and super friendly! The offerings are interesting and tasty. Passionfruit donut was our favourite, for its tang. Chocolate sourdough is warm, filled with chunks of chocolate and nuts, covered by melting butter. Who could say no!? Rose of the Desert was a "cactus" lookalike that is cornflakes (without any rosewater, as we'd presumed).
A. P.
Shady makes some of the best Italian style baked goods in Sydney, they're not cheap but hey, you always pay for quality! Tasty breakky too, their egg sandwich never fails!
J. S.
Can't wait for the return of the Toastie, really missed the truffle season :-(
s.
Did a delivery here and it wasn’t even open, asked if I could buy something cos I was hungry af and my guy hooked me up with the best bakery stuff I’ve ever had, no idea what it was though, will definitely be going back here
C. a. B.

Also they serve very nice coffee.
S. R.
Still the best bread and pastries in Pyrmont. Great coffee, superb danish pastries, great bread. Staff very friendly.
M. C.
Limited menu, it's a bakery not a café. Had a good vege soup with bread. Friendly service, wholesome food and reasonable prices.
M. I. L.
I'll rate it at 4.5 stars. Nice pastries and coffee. Cafe was clean and the staff were nice and friendly.
B. S.
Great Pizzas, delicious coffee and food!! Wonderful staff. This is my regular joint.
L.
I don't think the baked goods here are very good. There's too much oil or butter, it immediately seeps through a paper bag. I don't think it tasted very good either.
N. J.
Best coffee on Harris street. Just wish they would open longer rather than just 1pm. But I guess it’s a bakery not a cafe :(
S. H.
Just enjoyed the most delicious hot cross buns, fluffy, light, spicy and sweet. Thank you Pioik Bakery!
