Comments of Samuel Gee Pies and Pastries

Visited this place the week before lockdown in june and we were impressed with the flavours of the pies and the many choices. Today is the first time we have returned and it dod not disappoint. The only difference was there is not as much choice as before but I’m sure once business returns to normal so will the varieties. The pies we had today were superb.

Absolute next level pies. I drove past numerous times and had heard good feedback so decided to pop in. Grabbed the chicken pie and it was amazing, beautiful flavoured full chicken breast and pastry made to perfection.
Definitely one of the nicest pies I have eaten, going to be a regular stop for sure!

Not everyday would you find an osso buco pie, and other original pie fillings like sweet sour pork and Mongolian beef!
The consistency and the temperature of the pie when served made it a much enjoyable experience, not too runny, not too hot. No tomato or BBQ sauce needed, the pies themselves packs a punch in terms of flavour!

OMG I have tried pies from so called "world famous" pie shops, and these are some of the best. I haven't tried every flavour as yet however I have not been disappointed.

These pies are a treasure! Couldn’t recommend these pies any higher. So much variety. Excellent service. Best thing I’ve done today is go to Samuel Gee Pies! So tasty!
C. G.
We really enjoyed the pies.

I got a curry pie that was on the small side, with only a very mild curry flavor. It was expensive for what it was. It wasn't a bad pie, but I have had better. It's indicative of what most of the other pie shops are like around this region. The coffee here was good, its a nice style café and the staff are polite.

Fantastic pies which would rival that of Robinson pie shop. Great location to take a drive to and have a pie with a coffee.
C. A.
Best pies i've ever tasted hands down!
Pastry Chef must be doing some magic with the pastry as they are unreal! Fillings are delicious also. Wish i lived locally so i could eat these all the time.

A wonderful family run pie shop! The pies here are really good and a reasonable size. I highly recommend the creamy vegetable pie. I was really impressed with their diligence with covid check ins - really great to see given the high turn over.
R. K.
Great staff, great pies, great coffee and I will tell you it is really worth a visit
F. V. G.
The pies were good. Lots of filling. Interesting decor. Not really a cafe but like an older style truck stop. Unfortunately the staff didn't seem that interested in their jobs. More interested in talking to rach other.

Bought 2 different pies yesterday and both were 10/10. Excellent staff too. Andrew

What a wonderful place. Friendly staff and food that was probably the highlight of the southern Highlands pie drive. Heavily recommend the beef and mushroom pie. Obviously the people here love what they do. Love pies? If the answer is yes come here
D. N.
Best pies, with the best pastry. On a day of driving around the Southern Highlands looking for the best pie, Samuel Gee's was the clear winner. Great service too. Try the steak and mushroom!

Really enjoy coming here when I visit the Highlands. It has lovely food, and nice atmosphere.
I also have two labradors so really respect the name of the place!! They are obviously music fans too with all the vinyl collection around.
If you are in the highlands definitely try their pies.

My husband and I visited Samuel Gee today for lunch. I had a Cornish pastie and I have to say it was THE best I have had since coming to Australia 30+ years ago. The filling was so tasty and the pastry divine. My hubbie had a beef and cheese pie which he thoroughly enjoyed. I'd also like to add that the staff were friendly and helpful

Unfortunately Looks like part of the servo or grocery store next door and not enticing to enter.
However, its the rose between the thorns.
Fabulous pies and pastries, great staff and its actually quite cozy. Just doesn't look like it from outside
A. F.
Very pleasant staff today. Cornish pasty was not great. Shredded carrot and a ball of mushy meat in a crusty shortcrust pastry. Was a poor imitation of s Cornish pasty. Sausage roll was nice however the paxtry did not meet and left filling exposed. This was the same for all in the warmer. Steak and kidney pie wX yumbut small. Vanilla slice good size but quite tasteless. Overly sweet icing. Coffee very mediocre. I'm sad that it was a not a pleasant experience for food today

Girl serving was short and rude but that was a first the staff are usually really nice that aside pies are always beyond amazing and the best I've Eva had or Eva will have I will always be going back 😍😍😍

Great stopover on the way to Canberra. Best pies ever. These guys really know their stuff and they serve it on plates with a real knife and fork. Very old school and the pastrie is amazing. They also make good old fashioned sweet pies like apple and rhubarb and blackberry.
Service is wonderful and they are certainly going to give every pie shop a run for their money.

Best pies I have have had since I moved to Sydney 6 years ago... Steak & mushroom, steak & cheese were the winners! Fresh cream jam donuts were amazing aswel!
P. G.
Yum great pastry, Cornish pastie up there with the best👍
M. B.
Pies worth stopping for. Tried the Veggie pie, chicken satay, sausage roll, spinach and cheese particularly good, always feta is so boring!
Friendly service too! See you again :)
M. R.
Amazing service with a smile and best of all, amazing pies! Was easily the best thing to have accidentally stumbled across while driving back to Melbourne. Would make the stop again any day. Did I already mention great service and how amazing the pies tasted!?
J. P.
Interesting variety of pies and pasties. Traditional milk shakes.
A. L.
It was very tastefull pie, steak and mushroom are the best.
j.
GREAT PIES!!! Very short of selection as stock was low & that was at 12.30 pm. Shame!
C. V. K.
Stoped here and had a few assortments of pies and sausage rolls, now thats what I call a chilli pie,, one of the Best sausage rolls I have had on my travels.

So yummy! Love supporting little local places like this - Chicken and leek pie was delicious. Big chunky pieces of chicken and golden pastry. Thank you!
M. B.
The best pie i have had in ages. The base is actually a hard crust and it does not fall apart in your hands. The service from the staff was excellent. Definately visiting again soon to try other products.Real custard tarts!!!!!
H.
Best steak and cheese pie this side of the pacific
D.
One of the best pies in my life! Had the curry mince beef pie... Soft, fluffy and full of flavour!
Good luck on your venture! - from your Doncaster mate 😁
M. A.
I've tried the potato pie. Its was real potato mash, not out of a packet. Thick gravy and and nice cuts of meat. Solid meat pie!
G. B.
What a fantastic business, I was told the pies will be like Mum use to cook and yes they were. I’m on the road a lot and it’s great to have a local place with friendly staff and great pies and cakes.
A. R.

L. N.
Excellent food best pies in NSW and I eat alot of pies on the road. Would highly recommended dropping in great service and friendly staff

Great pitstop for grabbing a snack - staff were a bit disorganised with our order, forgot parts of the order, charged for things incorrectly and were mostly exhausted I felt. We did come at the end of the day around 3:30pm on a Sunday so that may have been why.
J. M.
Came across this little gem by accident. The pies and coffee was excellent (very old school!!) and the service was superb. I wanted to take 1 of everything home with me. Plenty of Parking I recommend this shop

Largest selection of pies I think I’ve ever seen in one place. We went to visit on the weekend but it was closed due to covid, it was a bit of a trek so I made sure check up with a call before the next visit. The staff are so lovely and kind. We had 4 pies and my favourite was the lamb and rosemary. Boy oh boy, I could feel my eyes lighting up after the first bite. The chilli pie and scallop Monday was also delicious. The chicken and leek wasn’t bad. Clearly it was so good though that I didn’t get a picture before eating it. If you’re ever around town 100% recommend ducking in, I know I’ll be!
R. V.
Extremely well setup. The pies are served at a good temperature and are really good. And the quote on desserts topped it up. "Stressed spelled backwards is desserts". Will be back.
