Super little bakery shop! Lovely block welcome you with big morning smile and the smell of fresh bread and croissant… made me just want to dive into the back kitchen while the Baker was working to bake fresh bread!! Tried spelt ryd linseed sourdough, chunky beef pie, plain and almond croissants~ very crispy croissants and tasty beef pie with real chunky beef. We loved it and will definitely return. Not to mention the freshly baked croissants smell like heaven!! Today we had a unforgettable wonderful breakfast thanks to breads and croissants from Wildcocktoo!

Great sourdough breads if you enjoy the softer style. Awesome for kids sandwiches! Best croissant in the area.
N. L.
Amongst the best pastries on the planet....their frangipane style berry tarts are delicious, genuine quality with ground almonds & real butter come hot out of the oven through out the day and when they are gone ....they are gone. fabulous Croissants and Pain au chocolat too , a true artisan bakery.
C. A.
Superb bakery with some of the best pies I’ve ever tasted! Their sourdough is incredibly delicious!! Can’t recommend this place more!
K. A. R.
I really loved the croissant, it feels fresh and delicious! Next time I'll actually buy two instead of one
V. S.
This bakery is a little unassuming hole in the wall. Best bread, croissants and pies. Reasonably priced topped with genuine and consistently friendly service.
Definitely a hidden gem.
Highly recommended
A. L.
Apparently you have to go very early for the croissants, because they are very popular.
This has become my new mission now.
But this blueberry tart thing was good too, perfect amount of sweetness.

Amazing. That’s all. Side note, cash only I’ve been caught out a few times. If you need to know more, know that the croissants are beautifully flakey with great flavour and other pastries are the perfect balance of buttery and crumbly! Do yourself a favour and go here and bring a good amount of cash with you because you’ll want everything!
A. R.
Their croissant is a thing of beauty. Bread is lovely too. Skip the coffee. Also they now accept card. Don't be put off by the 'cash only' comments from some of the other reviews.
A. C.
The best bread in the area. Rosemary and potato loaf is our go to. Also the crossaints are perfect.
B. D.
Best pies in the neighbourhood, accompanied by super friendly service and great tunes! What more could you want?
H. M.
Amazing bread, great flavours! Love the rosemary and potato sourdough loaf
R. T.
Friendly service and amazing bread and croissants. So good. Great to have this and Breadfern.
A. C.
They have some stunning and fresh croissants! Although some are a bit deformed lol.
H. F.
a couple of things. great croissant. great easter bread. Their Hours on google are wrong and they open at 730am weekends. Also, there won't be much at that time so possibly come in at 830 - 930am. My friend messaged after saying she's gone in at 9am and things aren't ready. But this is a new discovery, the lady and baker bloke were nice and you should go here. I'll be back for more.
L. S.
Best croissants in Sydney and perhaps beyond. They also have a great range of delicious sourdough, tarts and gourmet pies. Make sure you get in early as they always sell out of the good stuff. Super friendly staff and they do coffee too if you need one with your pastries. Now that I’ve moved house I miss this place so much.
W. Y.
Smells amazing, tastes amazing, cute little grab and go. Cash only, but you can get cash out from IGA over the road.
R. Z.
Best almond croissants in Sydney! And I should know this, because I eat a lot of them.
They have just the right balance of being buttery, crispy and having some doughy volume, not just air bubbles. It's also good size that fills you up. Good value!
G. P.
Best 🍞 bread and croissants to die for 🥐. Pies are also fantastic
E. K.
AMAZING bread from a small business run by lovely people. Their pies, sweet pastries and sourdough are all amazing. Everything is made by them on site.
M. C.
This bakery has the highest rating I have seen for a bakery for these reasons:Organic flours, stoneground flours, seeded breads as well as fine, sourdoughs, croissants I would have every day , meaty pies and non meat soya bean veggie pies, pastries all hand made.!The flour for the croissants is imported from Italy.Ray The Baker even invents new recipes the latest being slowly fermented sourdough dark bread on Saturday only.To watch Ray at work is to watch an artisan. Will even make coffee in house.Having studied in France and Switzerland, the best European techniques are blended with the best flours of Australia to produce a superior bread seldom found .inSydney Sydney.
G. H.
The best croissant in Sydney! This is one of the most unassuming bakeries in the world. The guy that runs it doesn’t care about the Broadsheets or the Time Outs, he just cares about bread! His bread, pies and pastries are so so good and made on the premises fresh every day. Hot tip: get in around 9.30am during the week and the croissants have just come out of the oven.
R. Z.
Probably the best chunky beef pie ever. Amazing range of artisan sourdough , my fav is the one with a little rosemary in it... Beautiful sweet treats too, that don't leave anything on the palate... 5 Stars. A little $$$
C. L.
After having tried so many bakeries, I would dare say wildcockatoo serves the best croissant in Sydney. Rather than others' fancy styles (which, honestly speaking is also my type cuz I just love croissant), the best part is the perfect balance between soft butter and crunchy tastes.
Definitely worth a five-star.

driving through this unfamiliar part of town and I happened to spot the tiny wildcockatoo bakery, just when I was feeling a bit peckish. I bought a croissant, almond croissant, white sourdough loaf and a pie - just to get a good cross section of the products on offer. I have to say that EVERYTHING was great, but especially the pie. would definitely recommend this place .they didn't seem to have my holy frail pastry item - the ham and cheese croissant- but if they did, I'm convinced that it would be excellent. have a pie here, you will NOT regret it!!
J. H.
This bakery deserves all of the positive feedback below. I have been there 3 times on the back of a recommendation from my Dad and people are not lying when they say that they make best croissants on earth; at least the best I've ever had.
H. M.
Everything from Wildcockatoo is absolutely phenomenal! It might look unassuming but they are the humble home to some to Sydney's best bread and pastries!
M. R.
Honestly, great bread, cake and coffee. I'll break it down for you all. I bought the saltbush sourdough and the taste of it was really good. Crunchy crust with a moist centre which tasted amazing with just butter or with ham cheese and tomato, fresh or as a toastie. I also bought rhubarb crumble. The look and taste of this cake had me thinking that it must be an old family/secret recipe, just the right amount of sweetness and crumble. The coffee. Hands down, the best around the area. CARD & CASH ACCEPTED.
C. G.
Greatest pies in Sydney. Lovely Baker who makes some of Sydney's greatest bread n pastries.
D. M.
So good to have a quality bakery just around the corner producing real bread with all its health benefits not to mention the flavour.
It's just a small shop for producing and selling the breads, no cafe or anything but then that's all it needs to be.
Pop in and pick up a reasonably priced (about $6 to $8) loaf of freshly made bread and help keep this place alive in Redfern.
S. C.
Breads, pies, pastries. How good can a bakery be?
Very good. Do yourself a favour and try this. The pies are deep and fantastic. There's these almond and raspberry pastry things under the counter that are ridiculously delicious. Also the best croissants I've ever had.
M. O.
Currently eating my first croissant from Wild Cockatoo bakery and it's spectacular. I've been on a croissant binge lately, trying one from every bakery I walk past. This is the best so far (by far)
EDIT: Just tried an almond croissant - it's even better. It had a hint of cardamom and bay.
C. s.
Hands down the best croissants in Sydney. I've been to France a number of times, and these babies are on park. Lots of butter, doughyness and crispy outter. The bread is good too. It's just a guy who loves what he does and it shows.
M. J.
Delightful local bakery. Great pies, croissants and bread.
J. Q.
The croissants are as good as they say — possibly the best in Sydney. But for me the standout is their potato and rosemary sourdough. Bloody delicious.
B. T.
Incredibly good croissant from an unassuming hole in the wall. 20 min neighbourhood at its best!
A. N.
This is one of the best bakeries I've had the pleasure of frequenting. It certainly rivals some of the bigger names in the area and is worth a look-in. My personal favourite is the nigella seed sourdough. Ray is a master of his craft and very friendly. Go say hi!
A. S.
Absolutely love having a real bakery in the area. All the loaves are delicious. The fruit loaf is a great change if you like that kind of thing. The range of pastries and tarts are also totally delicious. Praise god for carbs.
W. Y. L.
Their croissants are the best we’ve ever had and bread is still warm when you get it 😍
S. S.
My best bakery in Sydney.
Their croissant is so crispy and good flavor.
Sourdough is amazing as well.
F. B.
Best croissant I’ve had in my life. Had to go back and get one for the gf cause I wanted to share the ecstasy. Best bakery on planet earth. I’m so happy to have found this hidden gem. Thanks.
C. Q. P.
Best croisant ever. Almond, chocolate and... almond-chocolate!!!!! about breads ufff, excellent!
A. T.
By far the most delicious croissant I've eaten outside Italy and France. Also, the best bread in town. Nice people behind the counter. Pity its #CASHONLY
Z. W.
Excellent excellent Vietnamese roll and bakery. I mean they were soo busy the lady there could use some hands. This is the ONE to go. No other shop can come close. Not even remote.
The old gramp who take your order maybe a little deaf and slow so be sure to get what you want by shouting it a little louder and be clear.
G. K.
best croissant and raspberry tart i have ever had i think i’m gonna go back for more tomorrow
D. G.
This bakery is constantly excellent - everything is delicious and fresh! The only disappointment is when they run out...
O. P.
Best bakery and so lucky it's local. What a gem. Crossiants are the best I've ever had. I go for there sourdough but now hooked on the crossiants. Lovely smiley bakers.
A. O.
One of those original, local places. I find the bread a bit too dry (but I am REALLY picky when it comes to bread), but croissants and tarts are beautiful! A place worth visiting and worth supporting with your $$$.
N.
Best Meat Pies!!!
When it comes to pies, the dough, filling and pastry top should blend well in every bite. That's why I don't easily buy any pies.
If you are looking for meat pies that are bake fresh on site and delicious with exquisites taste, then this is your place.
They have varieties like chunky beef, beef & cheese, chicken, pork with fennel and Lamb with coconut curry, you just want to order more than one. For a price of $6 to $6.5 a piece and that big! ( thou my male officemates will buy & eat 2 every time) it's really a good choice for a meal or simply enjoy a pie :)
Z. L.
Sourdough is fab, almond croissant is beyond my EVERY croissant experience! Definitely going back and try other beauty.
A. L.
Best croissants in Sydney! I am French and these are simply the real deal taste the same as in a boulangerie, even better.
S. S.
A wonderful bakery, great service, exceptional sourdough breads, rolls, baguettes, pastries, croissants and coffee.

Delicious, fresh breads made by a dedicated craftsman - what could be better? Just make sure you get in early, as they frequently sell out before the end of the day.
