We couldn't go past Spitting Image Catering when choosing a caterer for one of our family's most special days - our eldest daughter's wedding. The food was outstanding - gourmet finger foods, gourmet BBQ meats and salads and a light grazing dessert - prepared by a quality chef and served by two hard working wait staff who made sure everyone had plenty to eat. All food choices were delicious and served with a smile. All dietary needs were catered for. By evening's end we had received many, many favourable comments about the catering. We're so delighted that Spitting Image helped to make our daughter's wedding a very memorable occasion and we highly recommend them if you need to cater for a special occasion like ours.

I cannot recommend Spitting Image enough. We hired them to do the catering of our wedding at the Richmond Rowing Club and they really exceeded our expectations. Staff were fantastic throughout the organisation of the event and on the day. Mark (the owner) is honest and convinced us not to purchase extra food which would have been a waste of money. I had my 50th birthday party at my house on 28th May and omg the food was absolutely delicious, everyone at my party commented how amazing the food was. I was a little nervous when booking my event but Mark gave me a quote which was in my budget. I asked for 2 different spits Pork and Lamb, dinner rolls potatoes salad and coleslaw. Mark catered for all my needs for 50th. I would strongly recommend Mark and the Team at Spitting Image Catering I would come back and use them.

Overall disappointing, the allergy requirements were not at all taken care of which meant at my own wedding could not eat most of the food I was assured I could eat. The staff arrived late infact at the start of my ceremony when I was about to walk down the isle and had to abruptly tell them no I didn't have time to talk they were late and the function room was open for them to hurry and they started serving 20 minutes late. The sandwiches burgers California rolls all had egg. I didn't even see some of the other canapes ordered the "Thai spring rolls were little frozen spring rolls and the mini pizzettes were ham not prosciutto mozzarella. The staff also refused to communicate with the mc after himself myself as the groom asked 3 times if mains were finally ready. So we just had to send people up to the area to finally eat because again they were late. They used the venue plates for desserts because of being late that we had to stay back and clean which was absolutely not appreciated. I was offered 3 toothpicks of a cherry tomato quarter cucumber and capsicum as something I could eat. Not impressed with that part. However those that could eat the food said it was delicious the roasts were succulent and food cooked well. It was really the service that was completely a let down and the lack of what we paid for. Luckily no one had an allergic reaction. Better care needs to be given. Taste alone based on guests would recommend not on service or allergies.

Mark and the team at Spitting Image did a wonderful job catering for our wedding. When we initially started looking into catering options I was worried that we would have trouble because of our rural location and lack of access to amenities (essentially we were in a paddock, 2.5 hours from Melbourne). But Mark just took all of this in his stride, assuring us that they location would be able to manage with the location and lack of kitchen access and they delivered their promise. On the night they were on time, efficient and very friendly. And the food was fantastic! The meat was carved as required so that it was still hot and was cooked perfectly (with delicious crackling). But what really made it stand out from other spit roast catering I have experienced were the salads, they weren't the same old boring salads, they really were gourmet and they were delicious. As we had 150 guest we had quite a few dietary requirements and some of them were very specific. These were all taken into account and catered for accordingly with options that looked equally if not more delicious than the standard menu. Spitting image catering provided excellent food and excellent customer service and I would definitely recommend them to others!

Ordered the Gourmet menu and the pork was very tender and juicy, great variety on salad but however the beef was a bit tough. The staff managed the setup and service quite well. I am doing that now and genuinely could not rate his service and food below the '5 star - loved it' rating. My review is a little overdue.... we used these guys for a family function (1st Birthday Party) last October. We opted for the Pick-Up option for the Gourmet Spit Roast and although we live on the other side of Melbourne, their previous reviews were so good, we decided to give them a go. And we weren't disappointed! I'm not an "entertainer" so the thought of having 40-50 people in my house for a meal was incredibly daunting, but the way these guys packaged everything up, they made the day so easy it was unbelievable. I literally had to unpack and pop onto my own dishes - that's it! They even supplied the butter for the bread rolls and sauces. The quality of the food was top notch and I'm still receiving compliments many months after on how great the food was that day. There was also ample food to go around, so we had heaps of left-overs.
