Celia is a wonderfully warm, patient and efficient manager of events and Mike is steadfast and positive. I felt so reassured in the planning of my Book Launch. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by my 60 guests! The food was delicious, service timely and friendly, facilities light-filled and comfortable. Guests were so impressed with the unique building and the altruistic intentions of the cafe! We, like so many people, needed this time of celebration and coming together. Cafe Outside the Square provided the perfect relaxed atmosphere for the highlight of my life - the launch of Patchwork, A Life. Thank you guys!! Rose Boswell

I love coming here, Celia is lovely and so are the rest of the staff. The space is open, eclectic and peaceful - just my vibe. The food and coffee are lovely (the little biscuit that comes with the coffee makes my taste buds dance!) they always have amazing cakes in their cabinet made on site… and you can “pay it forward” by adding $5 to your meal that will help feed a less fortunate person through the soup kitchen they run on site at night.

Hosted a baby shower a couple weeks ago in the Atrium space. We were SO pleased with this space. It’s openness, size was not too big but still spacious, great lighting, toilets were close and clean etc. Staff were so helpful with the planning and the day of, continuously offering support and ideas, and service with a smile and a laugh. Generous portions of food, and yummy at that!! I will be recommending this venue in the future! :)

This cosy cafe is located centrally at Adelaide CBD with really great food, it's fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. The best part is that it's a soup kitchen in the evenings (Not sure of the exact times) and their profits are going towards the homeless and needy. So when you purchase a meal, you're also contributing towards a great cause. P.s their fluffy pancakes are a must try. It just melts in your mouth 😋 Edit to the previous review - 9/8/21 We loves the cause behind the cafe so much so that we had our baby shower there. What a find Cafe Outside The Square is! I recently held a casual birthday celebration there and it was just perfect. The atmosphere wonderful, food beautiful and delicious. Brilliant concept, a range of flexible spaces suitable for a variety of events, we did a mix of sit/stand drinks and nibbles one afternoon, but would work equally well for something more formal. The little touches like byo playlist (if you like) to plug into the AV, made the event more personal. Highly recommend this business for your next function or just a casual brunch/lunch. Shout out to Paul, Leigh, Hannah, Mel and Mike, whose exceptional thoughtfulness and care made a special event seamless. Such a great Adelaide venue with a terrific social cause.

I recently held my book launch at the Cafe Outside the Square (12/10/19). The location, layout and ambience is truly amazing. I used the Atrium at the back of the venue and the team accommodated my layout requests. The staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. I got the catering package and the food was presented very well and it was great quality & quantity for the the price. I look forward to using the venue again for my business and personal functions in the future. The cafe really appealed to me due to this pay it forward ethos and mission. It is highly commendable.

I held my 50th birthday party at the venue on a Saturday afternoon. Utilised all rooms including back function space, cafe proper, and the terrace (west facing so sun on it in the afternoon). Also the adjacent traffic lights facilitated entry into the Whitmore Square where I had kids entertainers operate on the grass and the basketball court. Had couple of hundred people when include adults and kids - the largest event the Cafe has had, and it went off without a minor problem let alone a major one. Also had some Tesla electric cars parked out front for adults to have a look at and which fostered use of the Terrace. Catering and service was great thanks to Paul and his team. Throughly recommend you have an event at the Cafe, no matter how big or small.

I am living in Sydney after leaving Adelaide 8 years ago - and turning 50 I knew I wanted to come home for my Birthday. I didn’t want anything big - I just wanted a small get together where I could spend time with people and a venue that cared about my event .... and that is 100% what I got! From the moment I reached out to them to the event I felt like they really wanted to make my day special. The space is perfect / and the team spent the event making sure we had everything we needed. From helping my grandsons get balloons when theirs went to the roof to hooking up music for me. And the food.... seriously good! Best thing of all - paying it forward. Every dollar we spent contributed to meals for others. My heart (like my guests tummy’s) was full. Thanks to the team for making my 50th the best! We’ll try back for other events! M

Not only were they a massive help in the organisation leading up to the event, on the night the staff were fantastic. They helped make the event as fantastic as it was. A fantastic place and great service. While they may not offer a full eggs and toast traditional breakfast during the week (but on weekends) they give you generous servings and on top of that even topped the our milkshake mid meal! I held my baby shower in the Atrium & the venue looked great! The staff on the day, Lee, Paul & Olivia were fantastic. Extremely helpful & polite & had everything set up beautifully. They also provided the catering which was presented nicely & all tasted great. Definitely 5 stars for the above! The only problem we had on the day was with an uninvited gentleman who came in & helped himself to one of the platters & then abused a couple of guests. This wasn’t anyone’s fault (just wasn’t ideal) but staff were quick to rectify the situation & have the man removed. I also had a run in with Mike in the week leading up to the event over some details that hadn’t been clarified, admittedly I did overreact (I was 36wks pregnant after all 😅) but I found him to be rude & extremely patronising towards me, rather than take responsibility & rectify the situation promptly. A bit disappointing. However, I have recommend the Venue to my friends as the venue itself is lovely & the staff working the floor are fabulous.

Delivery to our offsite venue was timely and smooth, and arrangements dealt with well by the team despite some changing numbers and details on our part. Cafe With a Cause Beautiful day for a lunch date and a beautiful place to have it. I have been meaning to drop into this Cafe for sometime and finally I made it today. I've known Mike for a long time and each year my admiration to the man rises when the time comes for the CEO Sleep out. Diligently each year he does his all to raise funds for the homeless. So when he announced the concept for this Cafe it wasn't a total surprise. Log into their website for more information on the concept of this cafe but in short it's a not for profit cafe in the heart of the city and the funds help the homeless. That is just the short version of it. Apart from that it's a gorgeous quirky old building with a lot charm and character. Set over looking the park gives you that relaxed and serene atmosphere. The menu caters for most food intolerance and is varied. I loved my Budha bowl, which was brown rice with salmon and baby spinach was delicious. My hubby was rather quiet during his full breakfast with the works and I take that was delicious too. We were also honoured with some live music. At the end of a busy and hectic week it is a great place to take a break. Also gives you that opportunity to enjoy the simple things in life, understand that there are those with real problems and your dishwasher not working is rather minuscule comparatively. This cafe is such an awesome space. The concept alone is enough to make me want to go there (all their profits go toward supporting the mens’ shelter next door) but on top of that they have a good selection of drinks and yummy platters to share with friends.
