Cafe 1839 was great. The friendly service and detailed recommendations were welcomed and appreciated! A great range of food and drink to cover breakfast, brunch and lunch. Generous food portions and the only thing stopping a 4 star being a 5 star is slightly higher prices than similar offered products elsewhere locally. Out door dining with blankets for winter but not a lot of under cover to escape the hot sun. Great little kids corner to help keep the little ones entertained.

Had late breakfast here yesterday and I enjoyed their food. My breakky bruschetta came with well seasoned mushrooms and tomatoes. The egg also had the right texture. The staffs were welcoming even though we arrived at a busy time. Plus, the overall design of the place also feels warm and makes you enjoy your meal more. They make good coffee which is enough reason for me to come back.

Cute little building that's cosy inside. Friendly service and yummy food. Some seating indoors but most seating is outside. Food came quickly despite being very busy. :) Nice relaxing music playing.

Super friendly owner from Nepal. He is very hard working with great attitude and service. We stopped by for a coffee. Toilets just across the bridge. Quaint coffee place with many other drinks and snacks available too. Warm blankets available too for customers that feel the cold. Very cosy place to visit for a cuppa

The cafe is located in an old German house, which oozes charm and coziness. This building was once abandoned, so suddenly seeing it converted into such a pretty little cafe was certainly heart-warming. The cafe itself easily stood out from the many quality establishments on the main street with its beautiful food and coffee. I had the French toast, and it was absolutely delicious. They also gave us some amazing cranberry sauce on the side with out toast. The owner was extremely friendly and what great service he provided! This is definitely a new favorite spot for me whenever I go to Hahndorf!

Coffee and eggs Benedict were good! Service was average though - there was only one other table when we sat down but no greeting and the waiter just walked pass us while pointing at menus over at a rack for us to grab it ourselves and table was not wiped down clean from previous customer.

Cafe 1839 on the Main Street of Hahndorf is delightful retro fitted, modern Main Street Cafe. Good lunch menu, at affordable prices. Friendly staff, with good service. I enjoyed the visit along with a good coffee. The venue was busy, tourists with a good eye for value.

Set in a stunningly quaint old building surrounded by the autumn leaves on the grapevine, we stopped here early in the morning for hot chocolate. Service and drinks were great. It was lovely sitting here watching Hahndorf come to life.

What a lovely Cafe! We drove through Hahndorf and called in for breakfast and a coffee. The staff were polite and friendly and the service fantastic. We drove to up from Adelaide, found this cosy cafe and ordered our lunch. It was busy so our food took a little longer to prepare but it was worth the wait. The burgers were fresh and delicious! Great menu to chose from. Will be back next time we visit!

Stopped in here for a spontaneous lunch yesterday and was probably the best meal I've had all year! Had the veggie burger and it was incredible. Super tasty, and just all round amazing, couldn't make better myself. Also, the chai latte I had deserves it's own praise as it was literally the best chai I have ever had, and I almost bought a second. The friend I was with 1000% agrees with me as well as we both had one. Can't fault anything, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as well! (grabbed us blankets because outside was cold) Definitely coming back, this is definitely my favourite place in Hahndorf now! :)

Stopped for lunch on a quiet Thursday. Ordered crumbed whiting with salad and a steak burger. Both meals were excellent. Coffees (flat white) were also very good. Service was extremely pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed the food and service so much we lingered over a second coffee in the comfortable surrounds, as we watched people pass by. Highly recommended.

From the moment we went in we were made to feel welcome. We chose an outside table even though the weather was chilly and were delighted to find light blankets provided to wrap around and keep warm. I ordered a lamb dish, my son the 1839 burger and his partner ordered a mushroom bruschetta. All were amazing and just the right quantity to fill us up. The prices, the atmosphere, the food and the people who work there, all made for an enjoyable lunch and we highly recommend a visit to everyone. We'll be back that's for sure !

The only place I’ve been that serves such good food and service even during peak hours! The chicken curry was apparently absolutely deciduous, my burrito bowl was flavourful and the prawn linguini was sooo yum! They even made one of the best chai lattes I’ve had in ages. So worth visiting!

There are so many good things I have to say about this cafe, that I am not sure if I am able to fit it in this review. The cafe is in a niche little spot under some trees and grape vines along the Main Road of Hahndorf, it makes it a very cosy spot to have breakfast or lunch. The owner and the staff are extremely friendly. The ingredients they use are locally sourced in their meals, and everything is prepared freshly in the kitchen. Their coffees are world class, it would feel like as if you're in Italy. The 1839 Burger is a dish that I reccomend anyone to come in and order at lunch. Guaranteed the best one in Australia!!!! All their dishes are of a high standard though, The 1839 Burger is just my favourite! This is a perfect spot for breakfast and lunch, if you're looking to sit back and relax and wait for a good cooked meal and coffee, made with love. There are not enough stars on this review to give this Cafe!!! 10/10 :)

I came and visited here 2 weeks ago on a Saturday morning for breakfast with my partner and pug, the staff were very friendly, the food was quick and very yummy (Eggs Benedict), they made my pug feel very welcome which I absolutely love because I am a huge dog person and love taking him out with us for coffee. We will definitely return next time we are in Hahndorf! Thank you for the good experience and food!

After a disastrous and fruitless long wait at another Hahndorf eatery, we tried Cafe 1839 and it was a welcome breath of fresh air! From the friendly staff to tasty food that came out quickly and a small play area that our toddler loved, we found it a great experience. We were also treated to some great live accordion music nearby while we ate our food under the shady trees, and ducked to the playground in the park next door afterwards too - 1839 is in a great location. We only wish we'd chosen it first and not the other place!

They did not have many workers, but the one worker they did have was a young male who looked after us amazingly. You could see he was a little nervous to have so many people come in, but he did a fantastic job! I regret not leaving a tip for him!
