Cool hipster-style place that takes its coffee seriously - this can’t be denied. It falls into a pet peeve of mine in that it feels comfortable dictating how you should drink your coffee - only one size, and only one alternative milk: a house made almond-cashew which imho didn’t go well with the coffee at all (an issue I’ve found with a few places that do house made alternatives recently). All I wanted was a large oat flat white - would it kill you to just make it…?

Best coffee ever. I am still thinking about the toast and jam even though it was toast and jam. This is why this place is so great - they do simple things exquisitely.

Great coffee spot. Came here every time we are in Canberra. The food menu is simple and changed through out seasons. Very reasonably priced. Sometime you need to wait a bit long for the food. It just because it’s always full of people and sooo popular. Coffees always great. Always. Highly recommend.

One of Canberra's premier cafes. It sits on trendy Lonsdale Street in Braddon just a few minutes from the city centre. Barrio CC features expertly made coffees and a seasonally focused menu. The food is adventurous and more importantly ingredients where possible are sourced from local suppliers. One of the standout dishes on their winter menu is snowy trout and chase it down with a super cool Espresso, Lime and Tonic. It's a small, intimate cafe with super friendly service and a real community to feel to the atmosphere.

I hope you’re reading this review while sitting in the cafe, because if not what’re you waiting for! Amazing coffee and tasty food. It’s a small place but got great vibes and there’s a reason it’s always full. Make peace with sitting next to others on the stools, but it’s really chill. I can recommend the milk coffees - have had cap, flat white and piccolo. Oh and the espresso, obviously. Pastries are great and do no go past the toasties!

Not quite a hole in the wall establishment, but a distant cousin perhaps? Offers indoor and outdoor seating, has restricted hours currently popular amongst many dedicated coffee places, closes its food offerings earlier than its closing hours, and nails their espresso's. Dedicated to coffee lovers.

Oh how I really want to give Barrio 5 stars! I came here when I was searching for breakfast with a friend. The coffee is exceptional - Canberra's very own slice of Melbourne! Perfectly smooth and well extracted. The loss of one star is for two reasons; I feel like the staff could be more friendly/personable and they under filled my takeaway by ~1cm because the barista was not accurate with their milk estimate (I found this quite lazy). Still, I'm sure my experience was an outlier, make sure you try them out!

A nice little trendy coffee bar in Braddon, but very good coffee and friendly service. A shame that they didn't have soy, the almond milk was nice but not the same as the soy I'm used to and prefer. It's not a big floor area but that's good as the coffee doesn't get cold while they're searching for your table as has happened to me in other places I've been to in Braddon.

The best pour over and batchie on Lonsdale St! They clearly value quality. Friendly, chilled staff. They have pretty nice toasties, good value. The seating arrangements, if not outdoor benches, are high chairs with no back. It's a great small venue for a timeout.

Nice little cafe with some amazingly flavoursome food and fantastic coffee. Staff are some of the nicest as well. Not a lot of seating room but pretty cozy nonethless. Offers take away for a lot of the food too so isn't a big deal.

Very small & busy café. Food is lovely, coffee is typically good. Staff are very friendly. Wouldn’t necessarily call it a child friendly café due to the indoor seating (and the general crowd), however staff are always very accommodating, and they do make their own version of a babycinno.

This place has gone from a nice little coffee to THE place for coffee on Lonsdale Street. Always packed, and deservedly so, you should be able to get a seat eventually and service is still quick. They do amazingly for the space they have, and, despite always being very busy, the staff are always very pleasant. The coffee is always great and I think the best on the street. Would love the skim milk option one day though.
