Rustic looking cafe fronting a small green space. Heaps of outdoor seating even in the pouring rain. Staff were friendly, service was fast. Coffee was ok if a little bitter. Bacon and egg roll was very generous, bacon was done just right. Was very busy when we visited, but they were coping very well.

Cute little cafe and nice sitting area, however for the price we would expect larger portions. The hot chocolate was great but the coffee was on par with instant coffee. We each had eggs Benedict takeaway, (no cutlery available for takeaway) and it was a bit flavourless but overly salty.

Our favourite place for breakfast each time we're in Canberra. The food is always fantastic, big generous portions and reasonably priced. Always super busy so strongly recommend going early or making a booking.

Local Kingston cafe with outdoor seating in a small park. Very busy Saturday lunchtime. Has a good selection for breakfast but lunch is limited. Breakfast served until 2pm. Normal door access. Real Chai Latte was nice, berry smoothie not so much.

Nice breakfast with plenty on the plate and reasonably priced. Coffee was great too! March 1 2020... Back again and did not disappoint. Partner had eggs,bacon,sausages etc and a smoothie. I had a chicken burger with Asian Salad and Avo. I had an orange, carrot, pear and ginger juice. The food was delicious and the drinks were too. Service was great and all the staff were attentive and friendly. After a disappointing morning at a cafe in Deakin Bittersweet made our day very enjoyable. Thank you! 😁

Great coffee, in town for a few days for work and first port of call was here. I first went due to them being the only place open at 6am most days, but coffee kept me returning. Only thing I wish is they had proper large coffees, seems to be a Canberra thing where they call medium coffees a large.

Serves quite a nice 'Real Chai Latte'. The All Day Breakfast had some nice options on there if you're looking for food. The nearby free parking at the Kingston Supabarn (1hr only) was also very close and made this a great option to meet up with friends for coffee.

We were here for breakfast. So loved not having the mania of morning crowds and be rushed in and out, like those on the Kingston foreshore. Our food and hot drinks were absolutely spot on, very, very fresh, flavoursome. The staff were very friendly, effective, and timely. The hot chocolate was real chocolate. My partner's latte 'perfect'. We loved the choice of inside or outside seating. Breakfast is from 0700 and lunch starts at 11.30 - with great choices. Loved the beautiful freshly baked muffins. The great morning times allowed us to get on with our day. Thank you for a beautiful start to our day.

Cannot understand why this place was SO busy. After an officious direction to checkin via the 1! , one, 1, badly placed Covid-19 Checkin QR code, we were offered the table that we had already chosen, grudgingly. Eventually we received menus and found out that table service was offered. After a long time we were invited to place an order after later arrivals had had their order taken. Coffee and raisin toast (generous serving for 1) were ordered and eventually were served. Always goid to get the food before the coffee, and this was ine of those occasions. No offer of water or an indication of how or wgere ir might be obtained. This place does not deserve to be as popular as it seemed to be in a lovely sunny Mother's Day. Madám who was discouraging patrons should find herself a job more suited to her totally customer unfriendly approach. Not a destination. Plenty of better much more customer friendly casual dining options in Canberra. Congratulations to the very courteous coffee and food delivery crew. You guys were the saving grace.

The food here is fantastic but it is expensive and you will wait and wait and wait for service whilst you watch the wait staff stand around their outside check in table chatting to each other and drinking coffee. You will also be charged $.80 to add milk to an already expensive $4.60 large coffee so if you are a latte or hot chocolate drinker be ready to open your wallet.

I’ve always loved this place for the delicious food, the location, and the relaxed environment. I just wish the service wasn’t so bad. The staff aren’t attentive and everything takes ages. I keep coming back because I love the food and am constantly hopeful that they have hired different wait staff. Not somewhere to visit if you’re in a hurry.

The veggie breakfast is as good as you’ll have anywhere. The eggs are always perfect no matter which way you have them and the tomatoes and halloumi superb. Then add the mushrooms and spinach and you simply can’t top it. As good as it gets.

While it's a little confusing to tell whether you are actually at Bittersweet (all 3 of the cafes at this part of the Kingston shops now seem to have separate tills and staff, but have the same branding), all have friendly staff and a great menu. Plus a few extra treats in the window for those with a sweet tooth! A great place for quick coffee catch-ups and leisurely weekend brunch alike.

My husband and I come here every Sunday. The service, coffees and food is always great! My first experience with Bittersweet was a mix up with my order, not only could they not apologise enough, my friend and I's drinks were on the house and we were given complimentary coffee vouchers. This says alot about the place, especially when most cafes won't even listen to your complaint.

This is my favourite Kingston cafe. The coffee is great, and there's plenty of outdoor seating. In particular, I would recommend the huevos pericos (Columbian eggs), nachos, and the avocado and bacon rosti. I had the rosti on the weekend and it came with a generous amount of delicious bacon. The roast tomato bruschetta with avocado and sourdough is also great, but is a better option if you're looking for a light option as it's not as big as some of the other meals. They also have a place inside the arcade, Highgate Lane, where they roast coffee beans. You can buy roasted beans there if you want to make your own at home.
