Comments of ONA Coffee House Cafe
M. M.
Ona is well known great quality coffee, their cafe/roastery has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, staff is lovely and vibe is pretty chilled here. Food was absolutely delicious with great service!
N. H.
The coffee at this place was delicious, they have really unique and speciality blends. Would highly recommend the raspberry candy blend.
The food looks exquisite and tasted just as good. The service was also perfect and our waitress remembered all of the orders of 4 people, even though we ordered four different milk types and meals.
The only thing I would say is that there’s a 10% surcharge on weekends, which I didn’t realise until after I’d paid and inquired. So a small coffee ended up being $7.70, which is a little high, but you definitely get a quality coffee.
Would go again!

Having loved ONA coffee beans for a while now, I was quite excited to finally visit the ONA Coffee House and try their homemade cafes. Unfortunately the experience wasn’t great. Coffee was pretty average and I got overcharged. With such a great coffee brand, it’s a shame that staff aren’t trained to deliver the best possible hospitality experience. On the positive side, this place has great potential! I’d like to come back in the future.

This high-quality caffeine-dispensing joint is a must-do. Great coffee, breakfast and industrial chic.
R. S.
Great, service, atmosphere and the food and coffee fabulous. Keep up the great work guys 😊

ONA Coffee House is a good place to get your coffee and breakfast (or brunch) while you're at Fyshwick. Serving their very own ONA coffee, trust that it will be served well.
Good thing to mention is how good their French Toast is—the best French Toast we've had so far! The toast itself doesn't seem it was cooked the traditional way (i.e. toast soaked in egg and milk, etc.), but it seems like the process went from baking the raw materials and turning it into such a masterpiece. We love the a balance of the sweetness of the toast, the strawberry ice cream and Oreo crumbs around it, plus the seasonal fruits that came with it. Simply awesome!
We've also tried their Eggs Benedict which is also good (as we are big Eggs Benedict chasers for brunches).
One thing to note about the restaurant is that it gets really busy and that there's a chance that the food will be served around 40 minutes (noticeable as well that there is a queue outside the establishment). We appreciate the lady who came over to our table (assume it is the manager of the restaurant) when she apologise for what happened and made amendments to our order.
Overall, it's something good to try out if you're up for some brekky in Fyshwick.

Pleasant atmosphere, attentive polite staff.
Tempting full menu, was hard to select just one thing. The portion size, substantial. Delicious and satisfying.
Coffee ...perfect!
Reasonably priced.
Even down to the polished cutlery
Definitely would recommend Coffee House.
J. D.
A mediocre coffee experience. Came for coffees but they were all served lukewarm with a long wait. The coffees were pricey at ~$6 a cup. The staff were nice though.
F. M.
Great coffee, cold brew was really good and I like how they change the blend if you have milk in your coffee.
The fresh juices are really yummy, but they don’t have anything vegan on the menu except for toast and peanut butter, and my toast was not very toasty! They were hugely busy, lots of families and a couple of dogs on the outside area, which was lovely.
Staff are very friendly.
邵.
The coffee is barely okay, got the beans wrong at the first time as well. A bit disappointed under the famous brand name. The chicken salad is quite nice though.
J. A.
Only have purchased beans and take away coffee: love people who love their coffee as much as I do!
C. G.
Came with a group of 6 for breakie. Service was amazing and super quick. The eggs Benedict looked amazing
M. M.
Wonderful experience, the staff where lovely and the food was delicious! I’ve been multiple times now and each time the chefs and baristas never disappoint. The cafe is family friendly and provides food/beverages for all dietary requirements. Can’t wait to go back again and try out more of their menu!
V. K.
beautiful coffee w a really dirty cup
asked for the replacement, the second one a bit better, still not perfectly clean
suggest to soak cups in expresso powder to remove coffee stains
ordered korean fried checken burger, doesnt tasted korean but tasted curry flavour fried chicken
we’ve visited here saveral times, the experience getting worse… especially food quality
D.
An expensive but super flavour coffee shop in Canberra. The area is not ideal or you won't have great view in this shop, but you can always enjoy the taste of real good coffee...
A. S.
Went here with friends yesterday - good service and breakfast was delicious (and huge). They obviously know how to make coffee - so many options and varieties to choose from! Not too sure about mandarin on toast with mushrooms.... but we liked what we ate
J. B.
Melbourne standard coffee roaster cafe; Tight set up inside but plenty of outdoor seating.
Food is pretty good with enough choice to satify most people, coffee spot on as expected but staff seem hurried and inattentive on occasions. Waited 10min. with an empty plate to order a 2nd coffee before giving up. Table service should mean table service.
E. ..
Beautiful cafe with a really lovely layout. The staff are friendly and the service was really fast. The food was by far the best I've had in the area, good quality, fresh and the portion sizes are perfect.
B. V.
Beautiful food! Friendly staff!!! And dog friendly. Thank you we had a lovely brekkie! Will be back when we visit Canberra again.
A. P.
In a light industrial section of Fyshwick, would have been my last guess for such an outstanding coffee shop. The place, food, service was amazing. Next time I am in Canberra, I will be timing my flights, so I can go straight there after landing. Also. next time I am going with the Ona roll, that my son had.
A. L.
I enjoy the cafe. The iced coffee is great on a warm day. Service is good. Can't recommend the chorizo rosti. Flavour is good but texture is wrong. Chef tried to fix but they still have a mushy doughy mix in the middle. I think it needs to be thinner or have time in the oven to cook through longer. Regretted not getting the sambal chicken burger. The chips seasoning is delicious.
C. C.
It’s okay as the coffee is nice but SO overpriced. $4.95 for a small long black?!
H. B.
One of my to do list in Canberra was come here and drink the one of the best coffee in Australia.
I have to say the coffee was good as I was expecting and the food was amazing 🤩

Great service and delicious food. A little loud at times from the kitchen but well worth it for the food. Eggs Benedict was a unique take on the dish with fried chicken in place of the usual suspects, worked really well. Coffee was rich and well served.
D. G.
Best coffee in Canberra!
Their meals are also really good. We had ONA bacon and egg (Turkish) roll with smokey BBQ and cheddar, plus a Korean chicken eggs Benedict and both were bloody brilliant. It's the second time we've eaten here and both times have been great.
G. M.
Good quality coffee and meal at this local popular cafe. The average egg Benedict turn into something fancy with beef cheeks! Good friendly service. This place can be packed during weekend.
S. N.
Nice a cup of hot flat white and a big & thick banana bread toast also having a nice service✌. Hard to get a parking space because there's quite busy
A. M.
Great coffee shop and great food too! I have been here a few times now and always great food, and service, would recommend a visit!
n.
Great Ambience and Great coffee. Top notch service, waitstaff really know their coffee.
M. A.
I always come here I am the man with a turban always sitting in corner enjoying your breakfast and coffee :)
A. Y.
Loved the coffee! Tried the founder coffee. Loved it! Definitely a must go. Had the smashed avo and the ona roll.
B. F.
Great find. Unexpected haven in Fyshwick. Made great coffee. Had my first Kronut - not overwhelmed. Good attentive service
S. S.
The coffee alone is the reason to stop here..but the breakfast was phenomenal. Great service, great coffee, great food. One of my favorite places to eat in Canberra..as for the coffee; I bought a kilo to bring home.
M. B.
Great staff attitudes and nice coffee, much better than places like two hands etc that don't clean their machines properly
L. G.
Great coffee!! Service outstanding. Egg & Bacon roll with relish superb. Fruit toast was lovely I think it came from Three Mills bakery.
P. C.
Great atmosphere, food and service. Coffee taste are brilliant however it’s slightly colder than usual..
J. W.
Yes everyone knows coffee good. But the food was just😅
J. T.
Amazing food and coffee great place for all day breakky
J. W.
Food is good, coffee is good, online ordering is really nice for on the go. Can feel a bit cramped inside during peak hours though
S. M.
I try to drop in to Ona whenever I’m in Canberra. I have only ever had the best experiences. The staff, the food, and the coffee are always fantastic. I always feel welcome.
Highly recommend trying the porridge whenever it’s on the menu.
R. B.
Best coffee I have had anywhere in Australia. Service is always quick. Prices a little above average but they are big on high quality specialty coffee and award-winning baristas so I suppose they’ve earned it.
D.
Busy cafe. The coconut chia and coffees are amazing.
C.
Has the best Shake I have ever had. Ferrero Rocher Shake. I love the chocolate, so having it as a Shake, WOW. Had the Benedict. Really delicious. South Korean fried chicken, poached eggs, spinach, hollandaise sauce on sour dough toast, pickled cabbage, and got a side of bacon. Recommend if you are looking for food and drink in the Fyshwick area.
b.
Really attentive service and delicious coffee and food! A++++
K. S.
Always the best brekky in town. Eggs on multigrain sourdough with whipped butter plus additions mushroom and local bacon.
S. M.
Decaf was stronger than a full strength capacino. Pretty disappointing for such an established business
K. C.
Excellent, well made, quality coffee. More than comparable to great coffee in Melbourne and Brisbane.
Food was also delicious and generous. Unpretentious and unassuming friendly staff. Chilled atmosphere in an industrial aesthetic.
S. Y.
Their coffee needs to be improved. Food is good but they have to offer more choices. They can have more salad options I believe.
Very friendly staff, usually crowded but you are never forgotten to be served. Service is always timely.
S. K.
Whilst the coffee was delicious (although a bit on the pricey side) my partners pancakes were stone cold and my porridge was undercooked. The staff however, were lovely, even though it felt almost as of we were being rushed out
M. W.
I would like to give a big shout out to our amazing trainer David. He is an absolute gem. He was patient, thorough and has an obvious passion for coffee that he shared with us all. The team went above and beyond to ensure that I felt more comfortable with the coffee process and my future as a barista. A very enjoyable and highly informative day. Once again thank you.
J. 1.
Excellent food and really fast friendly service. Coffee to die for! Highly recommended.
G. W.
I stopped for coffee and a banana bread this morning. The whipped butter accompanying the bread was a nice touch and I received a bottle of water and a glass without asking.... excellent!
However the coffee was cold. The flavour was excellent, it just needed to be a tad warmer. When I mentioned this upon paying, I was advised all coffee is served at 68 degrees, which is regarded as optimum temperature, and advised I should ask for my coffee to be warmer in future visits.
I suspected I was going to be in for a lecture, when mentioning the coffee temperature, but left feeling as though I was perceived as someone who should be ordering my coffees from the milk bars who traditionally scald their milk, which I can assure you is not the case.
If 68 degrees is optimum temperature, the coffee I received this morning was far short of that mark. Nice coffee, potentially and nice experience potentially, ruined by a coffee snob.
R. M.
My husband, daughter and I had such a wonderful experience this morning there - breakfast was quick and delicious, the staff were so friendly and prompt to tidy up, and so tolerant of our 2 year old wanting to try all her words out on them!
They also rushed out at the end to hand us back a misplaced jacket, which was lovely and thoughtful considering how jam packed they were.
Would certainly go again, thank you for your wonderful patience and hospitality on a cold Sunday morning!
I. M.
Great food that's a bit different to all the other trendy cafes. Great coffee. Popular
S. _.
Great coffee, great beans, great staff
R. A.
Nice food, friendly service and great atmosphere
A. M.
Always enjoy getting a coffee and a bite to eat here!
B. D.
Was a bit confused as whether we should go sit down or wait to be seated by a waiter so we stood there awkwardly for a while before we decided to sit. However once we sat down a few waitresses appeared and they were absolutely lovely. The food was fantastic and I found it reasonably priced. Nice little sheltered outdoor area was the cherry on top of the lovely experience. Will definitely be back!
K. K.
Breakfast was fantastic but coffee missing in action...
We found an inside seat quickly and immediately ordered coffee. After taking our time with the menu (5-8min) we ordered breakfast. Food arrived in no time and the scrambled and turkish eggs were perfectly done. The coffee was nowhere to be seen until I was well and truely finished and my slow eating other-half was almost done. Coffee was then lukewarm - very unimpressive for a coffee house.
M. S.
Great coffee ALWAYS. Delicious food- great presentation. Their pancakes looked amazing but chose instead their new zucchini and haloumi fritters with poached eggs. Yummo.
J. S.
Best coffee in Canberra. Best scrambled eggs and breakfast menu too! Autumn lunch food is great.
Team are friendly and very competent. Very well managed and all staff have good direction.
S.
Most importantly, Isabella is lovely. However, when I walked in the store today the lady staff member who greeted me did not listen when I said I had spoken to Isabella on the phone. She simply told me to wait in the corner and left me there and did not do anything further. After waiting some time I finally approached the service area and spoke with Isabella in order to collect and pay for the items I'd discussed on the phone. Please advise staff to actually listen to the customers when they walk in and if they are unsure to ask again. I run a business and my time is important
S. R.
Confusing service systems. If you order coffees at the til be warned you will need to loop back after to pay for them after you have finished. Meals are generally of good quality and staff are friendly. Although one barista seems to be quite confused how to make a long black coffee over ice and 2/6 times its come out in a small tea cup with a few cubes of ice. Have returned many times mostly due to convenience
I. Z.
Wow! What an experience. Came here by myself not knowing what to expect. This place works in hospitality and I truly felt welcomed as a guest. Friendly service, the quickest breakfast ever. In fact, faster than fast food restaurant, just without the cliché of being one! Well done!
The food:
I had a coffee, no sorry, I had another one, it was that good.
As everything on the menu was so tempting I asked the staff to "surprise me" and she truly surprised me with a ONA burger: plenty of bacon and two eggs on sourdough beautifully presented on a wooden block.
I know, it doesn't sound half as good as it was, thus come and try it out yourself!
K. R.
Best coffee, best staff, best food!! 🖤🤘
J. W.
Great coffee and food. Make sure you bring friends so you’re not alone. Being alone is sad.
M. O.
Tasty food but sometimes undercooked. Great friendly staff. 👌
L. D.
These guys are great! Solid portions for the food, not skimpy like other places.
Coffee is fantastic too, was able to grab some beans :)
D. H.
Absolutely love Ona. Food is always fantastic, especially when their short chef is on. Coffee is of course amazing as well given the level of competition their baristas have engaged in. Some of the servers get on my nerves on occasion but that could be part that I'm possibly a bit of an a**hole and part that I'm used to Canadian levels of service quality. All in all you would not discount this place as it is absolutely worth the drive out of your way to Fyshwick!
E. L.
Great coffee and great food. Service ok, for Canberra. These guys are total coffee snobs, so be prepared to be looked down upon if you drink really hot milky coffee or want flavourings. Milkshakes are an elaborate and tasty alternative to their caffeine offerings. A bit out of the way, but still very busy at peak periods.
A. T.
Had breakfast here on the weekend (15/9). I don't know what they sprinkled on the avocado BUT it was amazing. Delicious coffee and food. Staff always seem a little rushed for a small place but they are always quite friendly,
V. A.
Usually this place is really good other than everything being pricey but i today i saw the barista use a milk machine for my coffee and tbh i didn't come here and pay $7 for machine made coffee.
s. S.
Just walked in and was pleasantly surprised. Basic menu but great quality ingredients. Eggs with real yellow yolks. Smoked salmon better than usual. Friendly. Real good coffee. Sustainable / fair trading a bonus.
S. B.
Really nice coffee and well presented food. Clunky service on exit as customers coming in line up with customers trying to pay and leave. Took a while and everybody seemed to be confused. Waitresses didnt know who to serve 1st.
R. C.
I thought I knew what good coffee was, I had no idea...! What an amazing team of passionate roasters, baristas and staff - they create a truly incredible product that sets the standard for the highest possible quality coffee with an admirable dedication to ethical practices for where they source their beans. If you love coffee I can not recommend this place highly enough!

We were visiting Canberra and decided to try ONA in Fyshwick. The place was packed on a Sunday morning and thought it would be great to try. We were unsure if it was table-service or order at the till. Out first contact with a server we were told to find any table. We chose to sit on the front patio to enjoy our breakfast. We were given two menu's and a server came back about 10 minutes later to take our order. Didn't see a children't menu so we asked and they said "no" and then went to double check and dropped one off and left for almost 5 minutes. We ended up ordering the eggs on sourdough (which was a grain bread), cesar roll with egg, and a kids ham and cheese sandwich. It was nice to have the kids sammy out prior to adult meals which was very much appreciated. Food was good but not over the top delicious. We ended up ordering two mochas that came out luke-warm. I think they were sitting on the counter waiting for a server to deliver to the table. If we were to go back to Canberra ONA wouldn't be on the list of places to go again.
K. M.
Coffee and food is a little expensive but worth the time and money. Food tastes pretty good but not the best. I expected a little more than what was received.
L. W.
They need just a normal coffee..too many flavours...i just want round smooth. Not chocolate and berry flavours. So i got a fresh juice instead which was nice. Also i want Rice milk and coconut milk.
Not almond. No one has almond. Soy is so 2000.
There's coconut king thats specially for coffee.
No internet either.
Nice atmosphere though. Air con is a plus.
A. n. J. J.
Great food. Fast service especially considering how busy it was. Great coffee and my favourite, a wonderful hot chocolate, with the marshmallows on the side, not in the drink. Bravo.
R. H.
Food was different, but a good different. Not a traditional breakfast. Coffee was great, unfortunately one of our coffees came out 'lukewarm' but was rectified by their excellent customer service immediately. Would eat here again.
O. R.
Seriously the best food (and coffee) in Canberra! Had the WA Sardines on the Speicals List today and it rocked this Foodies World! So happy to see and eat sustainable Aussie fish paired with broadbeans bruschetta! Every time I come to this cafe it’s ALWAYS consistently awesome!!! Thank you!
A. W.
Wow, the aromas, flavours and tastes at this location !!! Amazing.
C. B.
The best coffee in the world with the best baristas in the world. Literally; they have the awards. We drove across town on Sunday mornings to have breakfast here and get a second coffee to go when we leave. If you are a coffee aficionado then you owe it to yourself to come here.
A. D.
My wife and I stopped in for coffee this morning, as we often frequent other cafés who sell ONA coffee. The place was buzzing with people at around 12pm, but staff remained positive and friendly. Our coffee was hot, strong and delivered promptly with the consistency that we have come to expect from ONA. If ever we find ourselves in Fyshwick and in need of caffeine, we will return.
M. L.
HANDS DOWN the best $11 ever spent on an egg and bacon roll. It's an explosion of delectable tastes in your mouth that will leave you wondering where this has place has been your entire life. Coffee is also second to none.
O. M.
The coffee's ok. It's not bad. There are cafes in your suburb and in mine that are just as good, however. Unsure when it won its god-like reputation, but I don't feel it stands out from the crowd.
P. A.
I don't have a lot to say. I only go here to buy coffee beans.
R. N.
Not good food use to be , and little bit expensive for a breakfast. But Service is great good coffee
M. B.
The coffee is pretty good and the staff are friendly. But the hash brown is little bit uncooked.Because I can see the raw flour inside. Overall, its pretty good.
C. N.
Always good service, food is always good and the coffee of course is excellent. Chilling out on the deck overseeing Fyshwick is a good start before you hit the shops. Have upped my rating from four stars to five from 2012.
*Check out the specials board!*
C. S.
Awesome coffee, food and service. Well worth the diversion on our way back to Sydney
A. W.
Great coffee and decent food. Pity the service was lacking... They got almost every drink order wrong and tried to overcharge us for drinks we didn't order
M. H.
Amazing food, great coffee, outstanding customer service. I find that each time I go into ONA Coffeehouse, I come out with a coffee in my hand, full belly, and a smile on my face! I come here as often as I can as I'm just blown away by the speed of the service and the quality of the food!
#SamDaMan 😂
S. C.
The cronuts had my pants a little tighter than when I walked in.
Coffee was good too.
L. L.
The original and the best. Home of Sasa Sestic, multiple national and world champion barista, and his finely crafted coffee blends. Sasa literally travels the world to bring together the best coffee beans and roast them in-house here. Not only is the coffee outstanding in terms of both ingredients and preparation, the food is also excellent with a varied and seasonally changing menu, and the staff are superb. A favourite weekend spot!
P.
Had lunch with a girlfriend today. We tried the buttermilk chicken burger, moist crispy and so fresh with lovely crispy fries. Great coffee and yummy iced chocolate. Will certainly be back.
T. D.
Great place for a breakfast, and have your coffee made with “Founder” - can’t fault the service or the food or the coffee - win:win:win
T. T.
Tried their scrambled eggs toast and was hands down the best scrambled eggs I've had in Canberra. Coffee was also very well made. Definitely worth the trek out to Fyshwick.
J. P.
Always incredible coffee and delicious brekkys
M. I.
Terrific coffee and good food. This place is all about the coffee. If you are just looking for a glass of water and some grub, best you head elsewhere. The food here is pretty reliable, solid, upmarket cafe food but the coffee is amazing.
W. Y.
Great coffee as always. The Laos chicken with coconut rice was extremely tasty and very generous in size. Can be busy on weekends!
N.
Such high expectations. The food was solid but not amazing. Espresso lacking but the filter was singing. Everyone needs to remember that you can't sling WBC-grade espresso all day everyday. Second time we've been and would still go to again.
W. C.
Nice coffee and foods. Friendly staffs.
G. S.
Good coffee and a better attitude than the Manuka cafe. Just one frustration is the runny eggs in the ONA B&E roll. It is nice on a plate, not on the front of your shirt.
F. P.
Perfect place to spend quality time with high quality Coffee. Excellent customer service. I'm an avid coffee lover, and I've discovered right here the ideal quality coffee.
L. N.
Excellent coffee, great brunch and lunch menu. The Korean chicken burger was really good!
B. B.
The heart of Ona Coffee in Canberra. Nice food and place for casual client meetings. And of course their coffee, 5 stars all around!
G.
Ok, I haven't actually been here yet, but if you're reading negative reviews from because for reasons like "No flavours to add" or "Refused to add Chai powder to my coffee", then the REAL coffee drinkers should feel confident this WILL be a good quality coffee shop!
A. K.
Our worst lunch in life time (including myself Ali Khurram and both colleagues Atish Mohan and Arif Hamayun). All 3 of us ordered Lunch special Ocean Trout which was Extra ordinary salty. Its so salty that not able to eat a normal bite. Thought of returning it even. Only able to eat Trout while using water as do not want to wait more there. Left everything else in plate. Updated the cashier who said will let the chef know. I thought high of them when ONA name comes well not anymore. All decided never to have lunch there anymore. Chef might have some taste buds issues otherwise how 3 people have same so high salt that I need to use water to clean the salty taste even I can eat bit salty but this was salt which none of us able to eat. This happened 18 Jan 2017 lunch time.
I have in past regularly eaten ONA Breakfast & Coffee is which is good.
G. K.
Difficult to beat ONA for coffee. All of their baristas care about what lands in the cup, so consistency is always excellent.
The ONA roll with rocket and aioli is also something a bit special.
S. P.
Great coffee, friendly staff, consistently amazing and well balanced cafe food.
I. G.
Best coffee in Canberra 👌
T. R.
Very impressed. Good coffee and food, although very few vegetarian options. Would definitely recommend kale salad, came with a generous amount of walnuts.
J. A.
Great food, great service and incredible coffee. If you like coffee, this is the best coffee in the area.
m. C.
Visiting Canberra from Sydney. Was told the ONA roll was a bacon and egg roll worth having. Wasn't let down. Big enough to share between two if you're not starving.
J. C.
Bit more $$ than other Canberra cafes but 100% worth it. Good vibes, coffee and eats.
S. M.
I work in the area now so First time here good food good coffee good service will be returning
Y. M. (.
Not much to say. Still best quality coffee served in Canberra. A must try if you are a visitor.
L. C. (.
Awesome cafe, great barista course! Just completed one today, staff was really nice and informative, love it!

Lunch with a friend. The coffee is always good, the menu always great
S. H.
It's a nice place with friendly staffs. I've got Avocado & Tomato which was delicious but I was still hungry after that. For $18 it was a small meal. It was the smallest meal as a breakfast I've ever had.I believe they should change the prices or increase the portions size.

Food was pretty good.more mid range pricing rather than budget. Parking can
be a hassle some times
