Comments of RYE Cafe
P. S.
Went for brunch on a Saturday and this place was so packed! Food is amazing, loved the Skagenröra. The shrimps were very fresh! The beetroot latte is quite nice. It doesn't taste of beetroot, tastes kind of like a regular latte less the coffee.
The only letdown was that the service took forever. It took around 35 mins to serve the first drink and 45 mins to serve our food.
Overall, the food is great but I'll suggest trying this place on a weekday. Hopefully the service will be better when it is less crowded.
Score:
Food: 8/10
Service: 2/10

Went for breakfast and was not disappointed! We had ordered bacon and egg rolls, very delicious. Light and tasty but also fills you up.
Service wasn’t the best, maybe a tad distracted at the time?
Drinks menu was a bit confusing to locate however coffee was good alongside the fresh orange juice. Would go again and try the different meals.
Food and drinks were presented nicely!
S. T.
Some friends recommended this place. The vibe was good and the food and coffee were amazing. It took some time for our food to come out but seeing how busy they were it was understandable.
V. M.
Nice spot in Braddon, however a few small issues - regular coffees are unusually small (more size of a piccolo than a regular coffee) we ordered the rice pudding, avacado halloumi burger with a side of pork belly and the Dutch pancake. All looked stunning, all except Dutch pancake were good. It was super eggy and unpleasant, very hard and dense (hard to even cut through and we were unable to eat it which was a shame as it looked lovely - perhaps we just got a bad one.
C. D.
Great cafe on Lonsdale Street, Braddon. Food was delicious, and coffee was very tasty. The day we went was super busy, but the food and coffees came out at a reasonable time. The staff were also very friendly, and the prices were good.
T.
Interesting cafe with unique menu. Bit of a long wait for food and I wouldn't recommend the oat milk they use. Otherwise food was quite delicious and service was friendly despite some small hiccups with ordering
B. c.
Took 20 minutes to take our coffee, which came 20 minutes later. Was decent coffee, however took another 20 minutes to take our food order which was forgotten about for over an hour. Don’t get me wrong the food was definitely very good, just in our experience quite a wait.
A. G.
Excellent breakfast at this Swedish type cafe. I've enjoyed the poached eggs and potatoes, so yum!
M.
Coffee was good, no issues.
Service was very polite and friendly.
Food was a bit of a mixed bag, with one winner, one middling dish and one poor one.
Soft boiled eggs were cooked very well, nice combination with the rosemary toast. Would recommend.
The Rye Board was just okay, well cooked soft boiled egg again, and as you'd expect the Rye bread was nice.
However dish didn't really go together and was a challenge to eat on the chopping board given where they'd placed items.
Scones/biscuits with a very sweet jam but no butter/cream equivalent to tone it down with.
Small piece of ham + gravalax given the price point and amount of bread.
Would order a different dish next time.
Rice pudding was not good, perhaps they don't sell them quick enough. The rice was very grainy and the mango wasn't ripe. Would not recommend
K.
Lovely food, friendly efficient service, good coffee!
M. B.
What a lovely breakfast - vegetarian baked eggs & soft shell crab burger. A real hot chocolate and a fine coffee with a Scandinavian feel.
P. 1.
Ordered just regular bacon and scrambled eggs and a coffee. Food was really nice and coffee was good as well. My only criticism would be the length of time it took to get the meal on the table. Over 40minute wait and at one stage it looked like only 1 person was behind the counter making coffees and 1 person serving. Not sure if they were short staffed.
M. O.
First time here. Had a Belgian Mocha which was great and a fresh and tasty Raspberry Muffin, just the prices are a bit expensive which is why I opted to just have the Muffin. My partner had the bacon n egg burger with chips which was small but tasty.

Rye is a pretty popular cafe located in Braddon. The atmosphere and design of the venue is modern and homely. I had the spiced baked eggs and added toasted sourdough. Firstly, there definitely wasn’t enough eggs in the dish - there may have only been one. There was also too much goats cream and the lentils didn’t really add much overall. I felt quite bloated and uncomfortable for the many hours after finishing the meal. The toast (with eggs) was too chewy. The coffee was not bad though and service was to standard.
S. M.
Went on a Sunday even though they were very busy and we had no booking the staff was very nice to us and found us a table. The service was lovely, food and coffee didn’t disappoint either. Would definitely come back next time when we’re in Canberra.
r.
Wow, what a surprise this place is. The poached egg + potato sounded intriguing and did not disappoint. It was delicious! Despite not having a booking the FOH staff found us a table, but I recommend calling ahead to avoid disappointment.
G. D.
Excellent customer service. Food was delicious. Recommend
B. l.
Probably my favourite cafe to date. Amazing coffee, great menu and selection, right in the heart of Braddon. Can’t ask for much more.
S. F.
I tend to find myself to be bit of a picky eater and menus where it feels like there's lots of random ingredients thrown into food tend to overwhelm me (my mum also knew from looking at the menu I was very unlikely to choose something from the menu). I ended up going with granola, which I felt was still a lot of random ingredients thrown together, but I quite enjoyed it. It was a very unique way to present granola, but it tasted fine. Also got the iced matcha which was quite good. I wasn't as overwhelmed by the drink choices though.
Out of personal preference I probably won't be coming back since the granola was pretty much the only thing on the menu which I'd eat, but overall nice vibe good food.
T.
Coffee was delicious.
Food was yummy 🥘🍳☕
P.
What a great day with great coffee and great food. It was worth waiting 20 mins. Had house granola and skagenora with my mate, It was good bunch of food. Will definitely come back.
M. B.
Breakfast menu was small but coffee was good and the poached egg hollandaise was seriously good. Eggs cooked perfectly and flavour with the leek and peas was amazing. Would definitely recommend.
B. L.
Cute cafe, friendly staff but got our order wrong. Was charged full price for virgin Bloody Mary which is a little disappointing not to be told before hand that they would discount given it’s essentially tomato juice
L. R. K.
Love the place... Each time... Amazing service and good place for delicious breakfast 🥣 😋
S. S.
Just love this place. It's my local and the staff are amazing. I've had to change my coffee type 3 times now for dietary reasons and they have remembered every time. The food is amazing, and the coffee is the best in Braddon.
D. M.
I review breakfast cafes for a blog and can attest that this is ridiculously good food with amazing quality ingredients. The service was phenomenal. Attentive, friendly staff and Five Senses coffee was strong and addictive!

Beautifully chic cafe with outstanding food and coffee. The Rye team are super friendly and make you feel welcome. We had the deluxe bacon and egg roll and the bircher muesli, both of which were top notch. The barista's skill with our cappuccino and chai latte was impressive, with some of the best milk froth texture we'd ever had. Lonsdale St has a ton of great places, and this is one of the best.
a. s.
Went there on Saturday morning around 9.30 am. Took them 10 min to take the coffee order after we were seated, another 15 min to get the coffee and they mixed up the order.
Then waiting further 30 min to get food. Turns out food was not amazing, overpriced and portions too small. The breakfast board on the photo was 20bucks.. For what??
Left angry, hungry and convinced never to go back.
P. R.
Good coffee and service. The menu is for probably more sofisticated tastes and not designed for the bloke looking for a 'big breakfast' but there's nothing wrong with that.
L. M.
Great buzzy (aka a bit noisy) cafe with delicious food. Kipflers are deliciously crispy-better than hash browns-yum. Helpful staff.
J. D.
Went to this place for brunch during the 10 people limit for restaurants and cafe. The place was full but when they had a space for us, we were chased by the staff on the street to let us know of the table. The friendly staff escorted us to our table and handed us the menu. The place is a bit small. I noticed that they have a display fridge with desserts and they looked enticing. Because it was my first time, I wanted to try something basic. So I ordered what's on the photo. We placed our order while sitted at our table. To kill time, we ordered some mimosa. We received our meal after around 10 minutes. The food was basic but very filling. I would say that it's kinda pricey for it's taste. The food was presented well though. There are other things in the menu and I am gonna come back to try them and see what would be my go-to brunch meal.
N. A.
Great coffee, they offer healthy choices for breakfast. Love it.
A. E.
The Scandinavian inspired menu offers a range of dishes that sets this place apart from other cafes. I had the Barley Grod and it was full of flavour and well presented. Highly recommended and will now be my go-to breakfast spot when I visit Canberra.
D. B.
Pretty nice place to eat. It's not too noisy on the weekend, so it's a good place to sit down and catch up with friends. The food and coffee pretty good, although we found the Smørrebrød very dry. Maybe you'll have better luck. We'll try here again.
T. C.
Nice place if you looking for something different 👍
D. S.
Amazing food, coffee was a bit... eh but otherwise wad a lovely place to brunch
V. C.
We lucked for a table for two! Popular cafe. Table turn around was quick though. Very diverse menu which suited us. Loved my granola. Egg and bacon roll went down well too. Not by me! Great service. It says a lot about this wonderful city when you have servers dressed in puffy jackets and beanies!
L.
Great service and food, nothing like I have tasted before. The Barley Grod takes you on a journey with its contrasting textures and incredible mixture of flavour. Hearty and tasty. The sage jam in the Irish potato dish is also to die for.
J. W.
Generous with their portion sizes and the food itself is delicious and well-priced. Great selection of coffees.
p. k.
Food is so awesome, photogenic, hygienic and delicious with reasonable price. Service also great and fast. Recommended to take friends, family or even only yourself there. Will go back soon.
E. L.
Good food and coffee, tried poached egg potatoes vegan was nice with mushrooms.
S. C.
5 starts for the friendly and fast service. The coffee was excellent and best of all strong. The granola was also good but not excellent. It was very tasty. The outdoor seating was comfortable and has a shaded section. Parking can be a hassle if you decide to drive in as Lonsdale street gets quiet busy during the day.
L. G. (.
10/10 from the coffee to the breakfasts it was all so fresh and full of flavour. Will definately come back again next time i am in Canberra!
f. b.
Thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at the Rye Cafe. the staff were awesome and very attentive despite a very full and busy Sunday. The dishes were amazing, really fresh and healthy ingredients, our favorite was the baked egg, which is great on a cold winter morning. Highly recommend this cafe, and booking essential because it is very popular.
L.
Rye is the type of cafe that risks resting on its laurels because it's laurels are strong. It's a lovely minimalist place with very tasty food, attractively presented with attention to detail. No doubt the chef and team are creative and supported, illustrated through the regular menu changes. This has built the reputation of Rye as a place to see and be seen. People are willing to pay a bit more than average for this, and the good service. I have been back several times myself for these reasons. But. There is always room for improvement which would kick this place into the next level and the first suggestion would be for management to read these reviews (and acknowledge them). There are some valid points made by many reviewers that would be easy changes to implement.
It's a very busy weekend place (we don't even bother trying to get in) but during the week it's generally very pleasant - busy but not overly. I know newspapers are a cost and encourage lingering but during the week at least I think it would be a good addition - we've skipped Rye for elsewhere on occasions due to this. Wheelchair access is via a rear laneway which is doable but would be awkward. Morning sun for the 8/12 months of cooler Canberra weather makes the outdoor seating attractive all year-round. Good evaporative aircon inside for summer which means you don't freeze to death and an enclosed fireplace highlights the skandi hygge feel inside in winter. Music is perfectly pitched you can hear and be heard at normal levels.
The menu food is 99% over $10 (pastries and cabinet snacks exempt) - this is not a backpacker breakfast joint, it's clearly targeting the wealthier public servant crowd.
My bircher muesli ($16) was superb. Lemony with the right amount of moisture to dry ingredients and the taste combinations were a taste sensation. As I say to all the cafes that do this on muesli, I understand the need to add colour but give the micro-greens a miss on sweeter dishes (edible flowers work though).
I can also vouch for the Dutch pancakes ($18), chai ($6) and Swedish cinnabuns (Kanelbullar). The coffee is a standard order for most patrons and looks strong so I'd say it would be good but I'm still on my coffee moratorium (4/6 months done) so the jury is out on that one. 3 Mills bakery bread for most dishes is always going to be a winner (best bread in Canberra I'm convinced they are using a really old starter culture in their breads as they are so uniquely yum).
Yes we will keep coming back - when we want to splurge.
A. R.
Lovely service. Knowledgeable staff. Filling food.
Plenty of milk alternatives. Other interesting food options.
S. N.
Opens early, happy and friendly staff, perfect eggs and fresh bread, coffee is my style hot and tastes great every time I come here. Super cosy, how good is the fireplace. 👌😊
S. B.
Was recommended by a barista. Open early in Canberra which, if you've been to Canberra you will know is rare. Food is good and they offer blankets for outside diners and heaters which is also great on a cold winter morning.
Located on Lonsdale Street in Braddon. The menu is a standard hipster cafe fare but well made and tasty. We enjoyed our first mornings breakfast so much we came back the next day too.
T. t. B.
Modern cafe, nice decor. Breakfast was yummy and fresh. The granola was delish and the scrambled eggs were near perfect. The coffee was great but only served warm even when we ordered a second one "hot". The hostess was hot. We'll be back.
S. S.
My favourite spot for brunch in Canberra. Amazing service, great space, perfect coffee and delicious food - always!
F. H.
Love the food here. Always visit RYE Cafe whenever in Canberra for work. After visiting this cafe several times, I have always had a positive experience! Wonderful food with a variety of options. Only negative is that seating can be limited as it is a busy place!
Highly recommended :)
C.
A world of brunch in a fabulous fusion of flavours! Seriously delicious in a cosy cafe served by warm and friendly people. We loved this place.
D. R.
Brunch was fantastic. Highly recommend the baked eggs, coffee was 👌
C. L.
Came to Rye for breakfast. I was sad that there were no newspapers, but I quickly got over that when I tasted the perfectly made, delicious coffee; and amazing scrambled eggs.
I will return for more!
A. B.
Nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Great coffee and varied menu.
J. B.
I really enjoyed breakfast at Rye. The brown butter hollandaise is delicious and the eggs were perfectly poached. However, the service was a bit slow and we were left wondering whether we were supposed to order at the counter or not. Additionally, the two of us received our meals before coffee, and the two coffees came at different times. It is a small thing but it did make for an awkward meal.
V. L.
Catch up with some friends today. Friendly staffs, Nice food and coffees. Love the scramble egg with mushrooms.
A. M.
Had the baked eggs and pork belly, absolutely delicious. Coffee also pretty good, very cosy, creative menu. Wi call again!
S. F.
Went here for brunch on Sunday and wasn't disappointed. I got the ultimate hipster breakfast - avocado, peas, broadbeans, feta and duukah with poached eggs on rye toast (and you always add bacon).
The service was friendly enough, there was plenty of choice on the menu and the food and coffee came out fairly quickly. It was more expensive that some places but not for Braddon and not compared to the portion sizes.
Was super happy to have an alternative to sourdough bread for a change and would definitely go back.
E. W.
The best way to start my day is Coffee and Breakfast at Rye.
R. K.
Service was a bit slow, took a while to take our order, however it was a public holiday and one of the few cafes open so was quite busy as expected. The food came out quick and was tasty, however the potatoes were cold (not sure if they were meant to be though?) And the rye bread was dry with no butter provided.
P.
Toasted Barley Grod with mushrooms cavolo nero, goats curd & a slow cooked egg. It was amazing! The egg, was just.. words cannot explain! You have to try this.
C.
Excellent breakfast. Good coffee.
M. G.
A bit of a mixed experience. The main positive was that the food is really great and they did have a vegan option. The bread was quite thick and the coffee was smooth.
Now for the negatives, we were placed outside as there was a group of 8 of us including my toddler. The table hadn't been set up when we arrived for our 9:30am booking We had to ask three times for a high chair and the area the table was placed on slopes downhill toward the road (I know this sounds minor) but while trying to watch a toddler, hold the high chair and eat, it takes away from a semi relaxing brunch (ya know its never relaxing with a toddler haha). The other negative was my brothers eggs came 35 minutes after every after dish was served within a few minutes of each other. So the seven of us sat there and ate and by the time his food came, we were all done so he ate very quickly. After the experience today I wouldn't be a regularly returning customer but with a few tweaks to service it would be a great local Cafe.
A. H.
The place is cosy indoors and comfortable outdoors, with delicious food and very friendly staff. Food was prepared quickly and looked as wonderful as it tasted. Coffee was also great.
S. K.
Amazing!! The brown butter hollandaise is brilliant.
The place is nice and bright really, good vibe, the staff are amazing and of course the coffee is very tasty - depends if you like filter or espresso.
Well done will be back 😋
T. B.
Super friendly service, great coffee and lovely breakfast.
j. w.
lovely environment, nice coffee, next time l would like to have a seat outside. And service is also friendly
P. S.
I was looking for some healthy food and the "Salad of the day $12' sandwich board caught my attention. More like "Salad of the year". Yum. Great healthy food & friendly service.
J. B.
Honestly I almost come here *too* often! The baked eggs are always a standout!
E. G.
RYE Cafe is a Scandinavian-inspired coffee and food spot in the middle of Lonsdale St.
Pros:
+ One of Canberra's best coffees
+ Nice, clean vibe
+ Unique food
Cons:
- Slightly on the expensive side
- Usually very busy
J. P.
Superb cafe. Very humble and minimalist. Probably the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had
Z. F.
Good service, great food and possibly the best coffee I’ve ever had.
L. S.
Phenomenal food, it ain't cheap, but it's certainly worth every dollar.
S. N.
The wait staff at this joint deserve a praise. Very accommodating for a large group, friendly and helpful.
Coffee was average, needed to be a bit stronger. The food was not too bad, with very generous portions.
J. N.
Really nice spot for brunch. Quite a varied menu with a lot of less common (but delicious sounding) options. Coffee is also good. Would recommend and will go back to try more of the menu.
M. W.
Good experience. Very pricey but reasonable menu. Sour dough was really hard to cut through so it made breakfast a bit frustrating. Seats were really uncomfortable and sticky. Was really crowded seemed to be zero social distancing and was quite loud inside.
P. B.
Great food and service . Food came out in a right matter of time .
L. S.
Has to be one of the best cafes on Lonsdale Street, and there are plenty to choose from. The interior is tastefully and decorated in a minimalist style. Coffee is excellent and a good spread of menu options. As a bonus it's one of the few cafes I've seen setup appropriately to adhere to social distancing requirements in the current environment. Will be back (many more times).
O. S.
Very nice place, friendly staff, we loved the food
J. A.
Decent food. Okay service. Just WAY to expensive for what you get.
M. T. (.
Nice vibe, friendly staff who were happy to reseat us when they saw we were cold, big servings, and the food was delicious
L. S.
Most delicious breakfast ever!
eggs, bacon, mushrooms, perfect asparagus and sensational crumb on top.Coffee was beautiful, and service was great.Next trip to Canberra will be a return visit.
N. P.
Best hot chocolate I’ve ever had 🤩
L. J.
Delicious Nordic inspired Cafe. Great coffee and breakfast menu, which is not run if the mill bacon and eggs. So yummy
Y. K.
Great food, great drinks and great service.
B. A.
Interesting menu, if you want something a little different. The nettle butter was fantastic, the scrambled eggs looked very good and the soft boiled eggs perfectly cooked. The damfnudle was a bit heavy but the custard and blueberries were delicious.
S. H. (.
Beautiful coffee excellent food and great service 👌
S.
Friendly service with delicious snacks and coffees that are still available during Covid lockdown. Drop on in and support a local!
D. S.
Interesting menu- my breakfast was lovely.
v. s.
Amazing cafe with such a good vibe and a welcoming atmosphere. Every time I’ve visited the service has been great and the menu is fresh and creative. Coffee barista are very thorough and professional. And needless to say by far one of the best Coffees in Canberra. Love the place, keep up the good work Rye.
a. n.
Great breaky and coffee!
A.
Ordinary breakfast menu. Great location, good service. Would totally recommend it if looking for a cozy cafe to work on a laptop.
K. V.
Since the demise of Autolyse, Rye has the best cafe hot chocolate in Canberra. The secret seems to be using a liquid hot chocolate mix so it dissolves easily. Being open early is also welcome!
R. B.
Good food. Good service. Good coffee.
g. k.
If looking for a coffee, it wasn't as good as I expected but would love to try the menu once covid buggers off.
A. F.
We enjoyed our brunch.
We had a bacon and egg roll, Icelandic rye flatbread.
Especially lcelandic one was new for me and good experience.
Overall we recommend this place.
O.
The environment and stuff are good. Was expecting the food would be great. I ordered street dog and my friend got the salmon dish for lunch..Apparently mine was too sour to eat and a bit too much salty for the fries. I only had a bit .. pretty disappointing..
Also my friend commented that the salad coming with the salmon dish also too sour ..
G. D.
Being irish and having never had irish potato farls before, to come all the way from Ireland and first experience these in Canberra of all places was a strange turn of events but they were gorgeous along with the tomato chutney/jam!, almost sweet in taste like a scone with jam! Great breakfast spot.
M. N.
New and quite nice.
Staff are excellent. I ordered an egg and bacon roll with extra bacon, cheese, etc and, while still small, tasted delicious and filled me up.
Coffee was good.
Was there with a friend with their baby and a baby seat was available and we weren't too cramped.
Nothing negative really. You need to climb s few steps so maybe a problem with a wheelchair but they might have a solution.
E. M.
So impressed by service. I had been walking around in the dark trying to get my bub back off to sleep. Before I could attempt the stairs, I was asked for my order...then he brought the eftpos machine & coffee to me. All without waking a little person...better still, it was AMAZING coffee. Thank you!!
H. B.
Excellent food, friendly staff, and positive ambience. The coffee was also quite good. My only minor criticism is that the crust of the bread was quite difficult to cut through, not sure if it was overtoasted or what, but it made things a little difficult. That said, the scrambled eggs was probably the best I've ever had - so more than made up for it!
m. j.
Had a great breakfast. Quite noisey even though a third full at the time. Asked for coffee, extra hot. Came warmish. As stated, food excellent, good service. Definitely would go back, making sure my coffee was hot.
b. w.
Nice fresh feeling place. Lots of natural light . Table service was good.
It was a very nice coffee with a good flavor. Not overly strong or bitter.
Probably best of all was the wood fire giving off beautiful heat on a cold winter's morning.
P. C.
Absolutely great customer service, lovely staff, warm atmosphere. It gets quite busy on a Sunday morning, so if you know you're wanting to come to this cafe, ring them up and book a table. Unlike many cafes, they're popular enough that a booking might be needed! We were lucky to not need a booking but there weren't a whole lot of tables left when we arrived. The food, coffee and tea was all really nice, definitely will come back next time we're in Canberra!
T. S.
Great location in the heart of Braddon. Easy walk in with table service and a good selection of breakfast/brunch options and extras.
The seating could be more comfortable.
R. T.
Me and my friends had a breakfast, food was nice with that environment was great too. Friendly staffs and smiling.
a. a.
Great breakfast and good service.
A. N. H.
Bonzer tucker. Bosker Scandi menu and decor. Snodger service. Try the flank steak on flatbread with pumpkin, brussel sprouts, rocket,
shallots, candied chilli, fetta and walnut. Wow!
D. N.
Fabulous breakfast - wonderful staff - good selection
P. B.
This place has amazing coffee and service, the guy that generally greets us (presume he is the owner, and if not, should be) is awesome. Nothing is a hassle and they accomodate for the kids too. We have been here several times in the past few days and today they served us takeaway coffees just after closing hours without the usual eye roll that you get from other cafes. Thank you and we totally recommend this place.
F. B.
Really good coffee. Great breakfast. Love the Scando theme.
B. G.
The food was good & so were the staff but it is very cramped & uncomfortable with so many people in such a small space a table for 4 all your plates are almost touching just very little tables.Other than that it was not bad food at all .
N. R.
Went for brunch and it was just ok. Rosti was very oily and the baked eggs was mainly chickpeas, but it still had a really good flavour. The coffee was bitter and the mocha was basically a sweet hot chocolate. The build your owns eggs is a good option with lots of sides to choose from. Unfortunately I'll be in no rush to go back here.
R. E.
Awesome place to have a quick bite and a coffee..the owners are particularly friendly guys. Indoor and outdoor seating, outdoor seating have heat lamps set up most times too for those colder Canberra days
1. 1.
Went here for breakfast on a weekend, the new, minimalistic-styled cafe was deservingly packed with customers - yet it never felt cramped.
The staff were all extremely friendly, and the light music that played as you enjoy their twists on modern breakfasts provides a great atmosphere.
The food and coffee was great, from memory it was slightly more expensive that other places but certaintly still worth it.
Im interested to come back during the evening to see how the cafe converts into a bar.
S. S.
The service at this cafe is like none other. Everyone is so sweet and cheerful! The food and coffee here are great and the cozy set up is just the cherry on top!!
R. J.
Super friendly staff, nice food, quick service. This place has a really cute vibe! Just wish they had more vegetarian or vegan options.
L. T.
I went into the restaurant because a friend highly recommend it.
The interior decor was beautiful, and classy, the staff were very friendly and cheerful. I had a char-grilled halloumi and rocket salad, it was delicious! I was a little worried because rocket can have such a bitter taste but the salsa dressing on it was perfection! I extremely enjoyed my meal!
My friend had the chips with aioli and I have never in my life had crispier and fresher chips they were awesome and the aioli was to die for!!
Great meal and great service!!
J. H.
Great food and good coffee.
They open super early, which is great!
Inside is a quiet and chilled out atmosphere.
Lots of natural timber.
There are plenty of good places for brekky in Canberra. Definitely check out Rye.
K. T.
Been here for brunch and ordered two coffees during our visit

Truffle salt and boiled eggs are amazing and staff are divine. Pricey on a Sunday but happy (ish) to pay it knowing you pay your gorgeous staff the Sunday rates they deserve 😀
D. C.
Great coffee with prompt and friendly service.
H. S.
Friendly staff. Great food.
P. v. (.
Absolutely fantastic! The food and service was soooo good that we returned the next day to try a different selection from the menu! I highly recommend the baked eggs.
A. B.
Delicious breakfast at Rye this morning. Experts with poached eggs and good attentive service. A bit on the pricey side for the neighbourhood, but a good vibe.
律.
Nice stuff, good quality eggs and sourdough, but a little bit overpriced
h. r.
had awesome food baked eggs dish today. Friendly staff and customised dish really well according to my needs.
Would recommend !!!
T. L.
Coffee the way I like it. Food was pretty good. Customer service seemed a little overwhelmed...friendly but mistakes were made. Always worth trying again. They may have been understaffed that day
J.
A great cafe with great food and even better coffee. It's been a very good cafe for a long time. One of my favourites in a very crowded market on Lonsdale Street. Highly recommended.
D. D.
The golden egg was awesome salad pulled pork potatoe and egg
T. S.
I don't know what to say. people gave the rate 4.5 and I expected as well. the cafe was ok. the food and coffee were ok. but the staff, especilly one guy, he just put my coffee, put the cutlery, and put my food on the table. all the time he didn't say anything. it doesn't call "serving", it is "putting something on the table" even I said thank you, he didn't reply.
I was on my trip to Canberra, but found other good cafe nearby. if you are local, you can try, but if my friend visit this area for a few days, I recommend other cafe
L. S.
A nice place gradually getting better. Nice people who get better at their service and menu crafting. Excellent coffee. Verandah is a good place to watch the Lonsdale parade. Expect a wait at busy times.
G. M.
Nice comfortable cafe with drinking menu.
Open from 06:30am
Food and coffee was great

A quirky and well-done cafe in the heart of Braddon. Perfect for that weekday morning your have to yourself, or as a weekend kick-starter.
Staff are friendly and attentive, food is great and overall it is a hit.
M. S.
When all the other cafes were closing, this cafe was very happy to service us. Very accommodating and polite staff. Coffee was good. Will be back for breakfast.
J. M.
Lovely food, generous portions, solid coffee, and friendly service. Also has a lovely, light, spacious, Scandanavian ambience rather than the usual Braddon industrial-chic vibe.
R. G.
Meal I had was ordinary nothing really to write about it was good but not much I can say really run of the mil cafe
P. L.
Always a good experience here, one of the best cafes in Canberra.
A. B. (.

Excellent food and service. My Dutch pancake was delicious! Coffee perfect.
N. S. S.
Wonderfully friendly staff, the menu is delicious and a lovely cafe environment. It's easy to see that this cafe has cultivated a wonderful working environment and has created a strong working team.
C. B.
$20 for eggs on toast, advertises that it comes with mushrooms and goats cheese. A very small plate for the price, and it means "mushroom" not "mushrooms". Smoothie similarly nice but pretty overpriced.
J. K.
Nice food. Busy popular place for breakfast when we went on a weekend. Good food choices well presented.
j. m.
Lovely breakfast, great coffee and friendly staff
Z. K.

A. M.
Great, friendly service and a lovely menu full of good breakfast choices - the baked eggs were delicious!
S. D. L.
Just got a take away halloumi salad, not very impressed, extremely over priced for what I received $18.00, way to much Halloumi and tasted like the cheese was on its way out, I had to remove all but a small amount, . will be buying my coffee from there again but not my lunch :(
C. G. (.
Quick and friendly service, and the food has amazing tastes, a bit different. Coffee is decent.
N. R.

J. D.
Happy friendly staff add to the ambiance of the Rye cafe, menu is broad with vegetarian and gluten free options, the food is well presented and the extremely tasteful delights deliver.
