Comments of Tulip's Cafe

The place was lovely and had a homey ambience. Added to the charm were a couple of peafowls that were in the cafe's courtyard. I was hoping they had french toast in their menu though.

Good honest cafe food in a pleasant environment. Best sausage roll I've had in quite a while, with a nice green salad that wasn't overpowered by its dressing. Pleasant and friendly staff.

Excellent food- scrambled eggs and raspberry cheesecake were out of the world! The coffee and hot choc too, yum! The customer service was great and the location is gorgeous. Slightly pricey but it is worth it! :)

My partner and I checked out Tulips for the first time today and had the big brekkie. Very nice 👍
Excellent coffee and cakes too

Lovely early this Sunday morning So nice to be able to sit at a table. Good coffee.

This area in Piallago is a hidden gem in Canberra with its country feel. Tulip’s cafe has a nostalgic vibe with its comfort food menu. There are three distinct seating areas, indoor dining room, large covered patio and an outdoor area with umbrellas. Perhaps this is why service may seem slow. There are other restaurants in the area with a more contemporary feel, but Tulip’s seems to have its appeal. I was there on a weekday, seems to attract visitors, those having work meetings and young families.

Lovely spot. Nice coffee and could take the dogs and sit outside.

The peacocks are a lovely sight to behold, the menu can be flexible, the food is tasty, and service is friendly and quite fast. The good thing about having breakfast there on a weekday is the ease in finding a park. Definitely worth repeat visits!!

The food was pretty good, especially loved the gluten free options. They have a small playground, but it's enough to keep the kids happy for at least a couple hours while you enjoy a conversation and a meal. Try the zucchini fritters with the dill yogurt sauce, you won't be disappointed.

Food was well presented. Salt and pepper squid was slightly tough. The atmosphere was pleasant and generally food is okay.
Although the quality was decent, I was disappointed in the size of a coffee "mug". It was easily cup size and on top of that, it was filled 3/4 for a long black! So certainly not first choice for just having coffee.

Needle in the haystack...
The Tulip's Cafe has a fascinating atmosphere.
Hardly visible from the street. On entrance it looks a bit like a childcare center.
Although I was pleasantly surprised by the actual cafe and limited menu. The selection is not huge but all dishes are done very well at a decent price for the location.
I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again but I would pop in if invited again by a local or in the area... Hence I gave it 3 stars.
This would be a great place for young children thought. It's in closed and has a little playground area also.

Nothing great but satisfactory experience. Food was okay and the service.

Breakfast was well cooked & fresh, though the mushrooms were a tad cold. The rest was delicious. They overcharged us, though we had no clue, and the owner came back & gave us cash apologising for her mistake. Having the honesty and courage to come to us with that makes this an excellent place in my view! Great place for families, kids seem to love the outdoor play area.

I read bad review after bad review before deciding I would try this cafe to see how bad it could possibly be.
I wanted to go somewhere my 2 year old daughter could play while we had breakfast.
To my surprise, the play area is amazing and my daughter played for 45 minutes straight! The flat white, cappuccino and babycino we ordered were all good, and the food was fine.
I'm not a foodie by any means so as long as the coffee was good and my daughter was happily playing it was a win.
Staff and cleanliness were fine also. And it was busy with families and kids enjoying themselves.

Had breakfast with some friends from out of town who were staying at a hotel at the airport and wanted somewhere with good food, indoors and not too noisy. Tulip's cafe ticked all the boxes and also had great hot coffee, was reasonably priced and we enjoyed good service. I would certainly go again.

We enjoyed a 2020 Christmas breakfast here and the food and service were very good. Owner Slavka and chef Lodey looked after our party of 8 very well. Very happy.

Have frequented here more than I'd prefer, but my wife likes it for the good playground.
Pros. good enclosed playground and nice spot in the nurseries.
Food and coffee aren't blowing my socks off, but are good enough to come back.
Cons. About in the expensive side for the quality you get, probably most expensive coffee in Canberra.
Staff aren't terribly enthusiastic and the Boss Mama will become anti-customer service if your ham and cheese croissant is wrong or your coffee is cold. Watch out for her. Errors seem too frequent to be accidents so it makes it really hard to enjoy and come back too soon.
+ Good playground
- Boss Mama, premium price for average food.

It was a very cold day in Canberra and we were passing through. Stopped at Pialligo drawn there by the plants. Lunch time so we thought we would go into the Tulips cafe how wonderful, the staff were welcoming offering friendly but prompt service, the fires were warming the outside patio. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Try this little gem out and if you love plants like me there is an added bonus!! Well done the Tulips Staff you should all be very proud of yourselves we will be back when we come through Canberra next time.

Homely retreat away from home
I must admit I was at first hesitant to visit Tulip's cafe after reading some of the reviews, HOWEVER I found this to be an absolutely wonderful place to come and relax and enjoy the atmosphere, food and coffee.
Tulips cafe has a country cottage feel to it with hearty, homely meals (lasagne special I would highly recommend). Me and my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed our stay ending off with a beautiful brownie (twice the size of what you'll find in most places these days!)
Thank you Tulips, I'll definitely be back.

Lovely pumpkin and quinoa salad. Very tasty. Wife had zucchini puffs, they were fine but had been reheated. Some saying not good for price but most mains were $17/$18 which is very reasonable. We were full after eating. Though squeezed in a Devonshire Tea that was very nice. Now can let our little one run around the enclosed playground which is great whilst we digest. Friendly staff too.

Good little fenced playground for the kids, a separate set of tables on the other side of the cafe for adults that don't want the noise. On one occasion they got my order wrong, and fixed it up immediately with a free coffee thrown in, which i took as a sincere display of their wish to make sure the customer is happy.

Good place, nice food, just want more food choose would be better

Best cheesecake ever! The pineapple and coconut cheesecake was devine and every forkfuls had me drooling. There was a crack going through the beautiful base and if I was at home I would have licked the plate clean.
My vegetable quiche was made with love and the coffee was delicious.
And thank you for charging my iPad, it saved me big time.
TulipsCafe will now be my go to cafe for meeting anyone.
Plus the peacocks cruising around was majestic with the (very handsome) guy from Bliss Garden + Home + Garden store next door chirping to all the peacocks. I have the warm and fuzzies from such a nice couple of hours.
Thank you 💕

I had the vegetables melt...divine and I couldn't eat it all. They let us stay until closing to chat with no pressure to leave. Such an amazing atmosphere and beautiful home made food. Thankyou folks. I'll be back as Arnie says. ❣

I quite enjoyed breakfast here, although the prices were a bit higher than I'd expected. The pot of peppermint tea (real leaves!) was delicious though and I'm keen to try the Devonshire tea at some point.
J. B.
Pleasant environment, good for kids, with reasonable food, but the staff asked me to move tables in the middle of my meal, for no apparent reason. I thought that was a hospitality industry cardinal sin. I moved and the table remained empty.
C. H.
Always great food & friendly staff
M. H.
Went there for lunch. The staff were friendly, the food was tasty and the tea was nice. It had a really pleasant family atmosphere and even had toys outside for kids.
D. W.
Bring the kids, large tables not crowded. Play area for kids that's wonderful to have a quiet meal. Everything is ideal for young kids and families
C. C.
Great food.. lovely area.. but when 2 pm came we where made to feel unwelcome.. I get they close at 2pm.. but we where outside ..not harming anyone.. just chatting..
B. H.
Nice food. Great playground for the kids. Toilets were a bit of a pain, had to get the key and then the toilets were dirty. But apart from that it was fine.
L.
Lovely as always. Attentive service and enjoyable food. Followed by a brouse in a couple of nearby shops
J.
Really nice staff. Food is quite nice but pricey for what you get. Lovely location.

Favourite cafe to stop at when I'm cycling, best coffee and scones to keep you going😉

Recently shared morning tea with my granddaughter and we agreed that the Sausage Roll was the best we had ever had. No repeating on you later!!!
K. K.
Food is normal, no complaints, some of the menu items look tasty, but they have a terrific play area for the kids to play in.
S. D.
Thank you for feeding us in a hot summer avro.

Typical cafe food, not bad. Good place to have lunch if you have toddlers with its enclosed playground next to dining areas.

Kids playground is exceptional with a resident peacock. Zucchini balls were very nice.

This cosy cafe is good for breakfast. The only issue is that the coffe is slightly cold and that the staff are a little loud.
S. H.
