Great breakfast or brunch place. Have ate here 3 times this week and had a different meal each time. My standouts are the Corn fritters and the Pork Sword ( potato pancakes with pulled pork) yummo . Good hot coffee as well

Coffee is good! Muffins are fresh everyday. They do brunch as well. Love this place, especially sitting outside and enjoying the weather. Not only that, even their service is outstanding! Location is easy to find, in CBD. Only few minutes to supermarket or shopping center.

Great breakfast this morning at the Criterion Cafe, hidden away in a city side street. The cafe was full (always a good sign) but the service remained great and we had no trouble getting a table. The staff were super friendly with a ‘cheery skater’ vibe. Food and coffee were good and prices fair. We will be back!

The sourdough bread was the highlight, I believe it was from Pigeon Hole. For $4.50 for a side (half of a small avocado), it would have been nice to have a slice of lemon or something a bit fancier with it. We are eating out at a cafe after all. There was nothing special about the food. The cappuccino was a bit milky for me.

I was here two consecutive mornings. The food was great and staff was friendly and helpful - my wife and I ordered one set of breakfast to share, and they even separate it to two plates evenly. ALSO great place also to drink coffee and chill out in the late morning! Can be crowded.

I received a wonderful meal. Perfect eggs plenty of bacon however could've had more toast. The issue comes with the consistency. My eggs were good but then one of my friends received two hard boiled eggs instead of poached and another got a perfect egg and a softboiled egg. Service was excellent though so I'd still recommend.

Currently using Zimmah Tattooed Nun coffee, a great choice. Had French Toast and a muffin, both excellent as well. Was so very humid when I entered, almost turned around - perhaps their aircon/filter was having a bad hair morning. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

This cafe is amazing. We came several times during our stay, trying lots of different things on the menu and it was all fantastic. Coffee was also delicious. My only feedback would be that the service was a little abrupt. Still a 5 star cafe :)

We stumbled across this place after heading to the Farm Gate market on Sunday morning and what a find!! I ordered the corn & chilli fritters with haloumi and a fresh tomato, avocado, lime and coriander salsa plus crispy bacon on the side - WOW! It was absolutely delicious and set me up perfectly for a wander round the market. Thanks very much for such a deliciously tasty brunch guys 👍🤤

I dropped in for a quick coffee and left hours later with a full stomach. The seductive aromas coming from the kitchen were just too much. The savoury french toast was incredible. Wonderful, attentive staff. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

I took my wife out for breakfast for our first taste of Criterion Street Cafe! Your establishment is highly recommended by everyone I ask. The place was pumping and the servers were doing an admirable job of helping everyone. I ordered the French toast (which was exceptional) and my wife ordered the mushroom special. About 3/4 of the way through the mushrooms my wife pulled a medium-length, coarse, black hair out of the mushroom mix. We've both worked in hospitality and understand these things happen. So, we tried to inform the waiter in a circumspect manner. He was duely apologetic and offered to rectify the issue. He offered to remove the meal from our bill, but we were happy just taking off the coffees as the food was great. When we went to pay, who we assume was the manager on duty (taking payments and working the coffee machine) insinuated that we may have put the hair in the food ourselves as 'everyone in the kitchen is blonde'. She had dark hair, there was a guy with dark hair, and another lady who was serving with shorter dark hair. She then stated that '... But I guess we can take care of the meal,' as if she was doing us a favour (when we already offered to pay for it). In all, it seemed very poorly handled by her, and exceptionally rude considering the situation. Upon speaking with other locals, it seems this person is the owner and has treated other similarly.

Speedy service, massive portions, great value, good coffee and plenty of seating. Why not 5 stars? My poached egg was hard which meant my whole breakfast was a little dry. That's partly my fault given what I ordered so maybe I'm just nitpicking... 4.5 stars? Definitely recommended!

Friendly staff, seating upstairs as well as downstairs and outside. Good coffee and open on public holidays. Bit of a line to get a table, definitely if you have a larger group. Food looks and smells great, although I only went in for a coffee. Con: Looked like they only had one toilet so they had a line up.

Delicious food with generous portion sizes. Found the best hidden little gem in all of Hobart while holidaying here!! I wish I found this earlier as good cafes in hobart seem to be hard to come by. If you can grab a table outside and watch as everyone walks by the busy cafe and asks you what you're having because it all looks divine! I had the CSC Waffles w/ caramelized banana bacon, caramel sauce and cream. H E A V E N on a plate. 10/10 recommend to everyone

Criterion has a great vibe, pleasant staff, and a great menu of food (Did not try any but menu looked oroginal and food coming out to others looked great. Place is a bit small but they manage to make it feel relatively big with a large central communal table. Also has window seating and outdoor seating.

I had branch with my bf. It was Queens Birthday so a bit busy but they're very nice and organized table very quickly for us. I had scramble egg and toast, my bf choose poached eggs and he really enjoyed GF bread. It was good quality!
