Very stylish cafe with friendly staff and good coffee that really represents what Melbourne’s about. The food is very delicious and the venue is very spacious. There’s big venue space in the back that’s perfect for functions.
G. D.
Best coffee shop in Richmond, hands down. I love this place, it’s my morning pilgrimage, the coffee is outstanding, the service is always with a smile, super covid compliant, everything you can want. Oh, I almost forgot, the BEST homemade fruit loaf you can buy!!!
N. N.
This place is huge and has what I think is a function space at the back. Also beautifully designed and decorated. I thought the food was just average. I had the salmon risotto which was small for the price. Matcha latte had too much icecream so I couldn't taste the matcha flavour.
A.
The service was really good, and the ambience/atmosphere is even better! Ordered the smashed avocado, mango waffle and french fries. Only criticism is that the menu is bit limited, and there should be more than 1 waffle for the mango waffle.
R. H.
Friendly staff and clean outdoor dining area. I love the greenery display throughout the cafe. I thoroughly enjoyed my prawn Benedict. Would love to come back to try other dishes on the menu.
S. N. K.
Very friendly staff, huge seating area, on site roastery, bakery, patisserie, chocolatier as well as function space. I am a huge fan of Benedict and their Prawn Benedict was great except the yolk wasn’t flowing out, missing out on an instagram video. The seafood linguine was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend it. We have also tried their turmeric almond latte, is not everyone’s cup of tea. Pay with liven for great discounts.

In a star-studded city full of amazing cafes, AU79 is able to stand tall amongst it. Great ambiance, stellar fares and on point coffee makes this place one of my faves. Laid back service finishes the touch. The gold standard.
A. J.
The space is gorgeous, but the overall experience didn't match the ambiance. The service was very efficient though not very friendly, but I cannot fault the server; he was the only one working the entire floor while we were there and he did a great job. As others have mentioned, the big breakfasts are underwhelming. You can see the presentation isn't there, which would be fine except the taste wasn't there either. Nothing was more than mediocre, and the greens were inedibly salty, which was disappointing. I wanted to mention this at the time but again, everyone was busy (surely not their fault). We might give it another chance and try different things.
W. W.
Thoroughly enjoyed their seafood linguine, the portion was quite large. The spinach & feta danish & the almond croissants were quite crispy too.
C.
One of the best cafes in Melbourne! Have recommended to everybody and never disappointed. Staff are friendly, food is always a hit and venue is beautiful.

second time visit after one year.
coffee great as always.
tasty risotto with delicious sauce. menu still limited tho. good vibe.

This is the second time I have been to AU79 and I felt I had to write a review because everything was as good as the previous visit.
I can't remember what I ate previously but I know it must have been good because I was more than happy to return.
My partner and I had the Prawn Benedict and the Beef Brisket Baked Eggs (it was a special). So much flavour packed into my baked eggs with perfectly soft poached eggs. One of the tastiest dishes I've had in a long time. The Prawn Benedict was a well balanced dish flavour wise. It didn't blow my mind but it was still just as tasty with Prawns cooked nicely so they melt in your mouth. Hollandaise sauce and eggs as good as you would expect.
Coffee was also excellent. Smooth tasting and perfectly textured milk for my flat white.
Very friendly and attentive staff as well.
Just my opinions but will definitely be back again.
K. L.
One of the best cafes around the area. The ambient is beautiful, their house grind coffee and seasonal menu are absolutely delicious. Love their seasonal truffle menu! Perfect place for an afternoon break, dating and gathering!
C. N.
Beautiful and spacy restaurant. Recommend booking for big group and good space for family with kids. Its our regular place for mothers day breakfast here. Nice coffee and croissant toasted serve for breakfast.
K. C.
Amazing coffee and food that tastes as good as it looks. Bookings recommended as this place is always busy despite it's large premise. Also baby friendly. Make sure you leave stomach room for their desserts. Lots of gluten free options for dessert and mains. They have three large dining areas with plenty of space so I felt rather safe.

Loved our time at Au79 recently! Tucked away from busy Victoria St in Richmond, it’s easy to get to by tram. Street parks are a little tricky to find depending on the time of day but I had a free 1 hour park at the local shopping centre next door. We were greeted promptly by friendly staff and shown to our table with our coffee orders taken. The ambience was great! It was buzzing, visually pleasing with plants and product merchandised well. Dishes came out in good time and was delicious! Coffees were on point too! Great job guys! We will definitely visit again!

I love the design of this place. Staff is friendly, and the place is so clean. Coffee is so good, cup size is a bit small for that price. Unfortunately so disappointed for hot chocolate. Hot chocolate taste like pure cacao power that my kid couldn’t drink it. Not recommend order hot chocolate in generally.
Food is delicious. I order Prawn Benedict and big breakfast. Baby Mushrooms that serve with big breakfast is thinly slice, Plate doesn’t well present.

Nice interior design and atmosphere. Pleasant and fast service. Coffee is good. However, portions are on the small side and severely lacking flavour. Salmon rillette is 90% potatoes and hardly any salmon. It's actually laughable they have the guts to use the word rillette for this bland potato cream. Poached eggs were very runny. Contrary to many of the other review photos, the presentation of the plates was good. I would say the food is 20% overpriced for what you get. Can easily get better value elsewhere.
W. C.
Friendly service, pleasing space. However, it won’t be a space we like to be in for long because of the loud acoustics. Our chai and coffee were flavoursome. The vegan hot dog was tasty but rather odd in a brioche bun and the tart tasted mainly of sugar. The food in general was much sweeter and costly than I anticipated. We’ll be sticky to just the drinks next time.
K.
Lovely interior, feels open and bright and lively. Staff are quick, efficient and friendly. Food was pretty delicious! Had the big breakfast which to me was quite filling and had the chai latte. Definitely will want to come back!
V. C.
My first time in Melbourne and I come across this cafe. What a gem!
Great environment, food and service.
The place is quite big and can get busy at around 11.
Check out some of these photos.
I had the Big Breakfast.
J. T.
Never thought I would have prawns with eggs but here I am, and it's bloody delicious! The duck was also very nice! The cafe had a great vibe and was visually well set up (nice for some photos). plenty of seating too as we walked in off the street.

Au79 CHADSTONE review (New one):
5/5 for coffee - Perfect taste. The taste is not overwhelming, but leaves a delicate aftertaste.
Service was really good - Barista Isaac was very engaging and friendly, making the experience more enjoyable.
The takeaway cup design is also gorgeous, felt sad throwing it out.
Very spacious venue at Chadstone shopping centre / opposite MJ Bale.
Will provide an updated review with food in the upcoming weeks!
K. B.
I ate at the Chadstone cafe. Food was very tasty but way overpriced, I had the avocado on toast with a side of bacon added. Avo on toast $21,. Bacon $6. This cost me $27. I won't be coming back purely based on price.
S. M.
This has to be one of the most design forward cafes in Melbourne - it's an architectural delight with high ceilings, modern Tudor-esque beams, expansive spaces to sit in, an urban jungle, warehouse and roastery all in one.
The coffee is exceptional. I consulted the chief roaster on which filter coffee to purchase - his knowledge was impressive, and his advice was generous, catered to my needs. In addition, he even scribbled down his personal brewing recipe down for me- very sweet!
Menu is progressive (even by Melbourne's standards) and I had deliciously light 63 degree eggs with grilled asparagus, roasted broccolini, gramolata, parmesan cream, pomegranate, rocket salad and kale chips.
Next time, i would love to try the Prawn Benedict.
A cafe that is a clear cut above the rest!
D. A.
Fantastic atmosphere inside (not that we've been allowed to enjoy it lately).
The lockdown chorizo and halloumi roll was an absolute treat. Loving the BBQ setup and hope it stays
M. M.
Au79 is an amazing huge airy warehouse with plants everywhere with beautiful decor to match. Coffee is great as is the food and service had the kale & corn fritters 8/10 & the crispy skin salmon on smashed peas 9/10 pastries are tasty AF as so does the cabinet full of goodies, the only problem is the parking around this area but worth the visit as I’ve done many times.
K. A.
Wonderful cafe with a hip indoor/outdoor theme in a converted warehouse. Very comfortable booths, delicious coffee and our salads were to die for. Can highly recommend the confit duck salad and calamari salad. Lots of vegetarian, GF and DF options.
O. R.
Good coffee and matcha latte. Brunch menu is good but bit $$$. Otherwise a nice space to sit.
R. C.
Coffee is seriously the best I have ever had, and the food is ridiculously amazing. The venue is absolutely stunning and the staff are really nice. I have to come back, it's a must!!!
J. C.
It's been a wonderful Saturday brunch experience. Food was awesome, from the presentation to the taste.
Salmon & Pea Risotto ****
Salmon as claimed to be crispy, the sauce is flavourful and compliments the Salmon. My favourite is the Risotto, can still imagine the taste as I am typing this review. If the portion were slightly more it would had earn it's *****
Prawn Benedict ***
Flavour was spot on. Prawn is filled of flavour and crunchy. Eggs were perfectly cooked. However I found that the overall dish was still a little plain. Probably a Prawn salad would had complete the dish.
Chilli Scrambled Eggs ****
Presentation and taste, conquered my taste buds. Texture, Egg was a little dry. Flavour, the Chilli wasn't overpowering and the ratio is perfect.
Almond Croissant *****
So far the best Almond Croissant I've had. Only comment, the croissant was a little hard. Would had done justice if it was served warm.
Beverage were average however enjoyable.
Service is great, friendly staff especially Stephanie and Laurent. It is Stephanie's first day, she did well and gave us a pleasant and memorable experience. Thank you Stephanie.
J. A. Y.
Phenomenal food, phenomenal coffee, phenomenal service and a beautiful cafe! 🤩
FOOD & COFFEE: We ordered the Prawn Linguine and the Chilli Egg Scramble and it was wonderful! The portions were humongous and definitely worth the price! They’re also on Liven so a bonus point for us trying to save a small buck 😅 Their Prawn Linguine was the star of the show for me, I was blown away with the flavour of the dish! I’m a prawn or seafood lover so the dish sounded super enticing and when I tasted it, I was blown away! The prawns were cooked to perfection and for $27, the amount of prawns you get is definitely worth the money! The prawn bisque was flavourful and light and all the flavours just married together to have an amazing dish. It truly solidified itself as my FAVOURITE PASTA DISH EVER. The Chilli Egg Scramble was unique with a parmesan crusted croissant (have you ever heard of that?!) and although it was simple, it was done amazingly. The coffee was so rich and so flavourful that every sip I took truly was liquid gold!
SERVICE: Wonderful! Everyone was friendly and attentive with one of the servers being super chirpy and lighting up our morning
Overall, I adored AU79 and all they have to offer! Will I return? Most definitely! The food offerings were beyond amazing and I can’t wait to come back and try their other dishes (but definitely still order the prawn linguine for myself! oops)
j.
Airy and natural light filled atmospheric venue with high ceilings, lovely decorated with many, many plants all around.
Walking into this cafe you wouldn’t think it has an incredibly large seating area at the back.
Lots of comfy, secluded seating options with booths as well.
The menu is quite peculiar. I ordered a salmon dish however did not realise it was creamed/blended salmon. The dish itself was interesting, there was too much creaminess going on though. I would have liked some crunch in there, perhaps some walnuts.
The oat milk hot chocolate was amazing!
J. H.
Really love this place, lovely refreshing decor, Coffee was just Devine,NB They do roast their own coffee, and make their own bread and pastries which I haven't tried but will definitely go back to sample their food and bread, staff were also lovely.
Well here's an update from today went back to sample their food look I wasn't disappointed but I must say it wasn't special and the serves were quite small considering the price .
But it still is a very nice experience the Staff are lovely, Coffee still is exceptional, nice healthy drinks too
D. A.
After visiting many cafes especially here in Melbourne, the thing that is common in most of those cafes is the great services. But they are in different level. In this cafe the services was amazing, the staff were super friendly. Also the drinks here was delicious and as expected. Thanks to all staff in this cafe. I do recommend it to all
S. B.
I just came to buy cofee before they closing, and guys give me complimentary croissant. They made my day. So great service and friendly stuff. Also coffee with oat milk was just perfect and the croissant is one of the best I've eaten in Melbourne, so many filling inside, just so delicious. Now you've got regular customer 😊
M. W.
Had the prawn eggs Benedict. Was delicious. Good coffee too.
c. w.
Good place to have brunch as it does get busy later in the morning.
Good and reasonably priced. Very close to the tram.
Have been therrt3 times.
Menu has option for vegetarian, gluten-free as well.
Good service.

I had some content to schedule, so I went there to celebrate my birthday and get some work done. Amazing food, great staff and a really nice vibe, most importantly the coffee was fantastic.
E. L.
The dining environment is good, and the whole shop is decorated like a big warehouse. The service is also good, but their food is really very ordinary. the mushrooms and eggs in the big breakfast are too salty to taste. Then the price of the food is a bit too high. There are only four shrimps in the pawwn egg Benedict, and then a large piece of bread, which is disappointing. Bty Matcha latte are delicious.
L. N.
Definitely makes my list of the top three cafes in Melbourne. Excited that the menu's had a huge makeover (feels like a while since I've seen significant changes). Ordered the Soba Salad and the Seafood Linguine. Absolutely enjoyed them both and will come back very soon!
F. F. F.
In my top 10 favourite cafes in Melbourne. Mainly because it looks spectacular on the inside. It is bright, vibrant and full of plants.
To be the honest the fact the food was also very tasty helped!
My only criticism with Au79 was my side of chicken was rather expensive for the amount I got. But the greens dish was awesome none the less.
K. F.
My favourite brunch spot in Abbotsford. An old garage renovated to a greenhouse, with the most beautiful drinks out. My favourite is the berry smoothie: rimmed with coconut and sprinkled with chia, acai berries, cinnamon, with a pansy garnish. Seasonal menu items and incredible dishes too. My personal favourite is their take on the smashed avo.
L. L.
Best filter coffee I’ve had this year!!
Brunch menus is so good, the source is well balanced with protein and veggies, I’m a bit surprised at how good it it considering it’s a coffee focused store.
Must have a very dedicated team behind the operation. All the rostered are well managed.
Well done!! Hope AU79 can open more boutiques in bayside areas. We need more decent specialty coffee here.!!!!
A. N. B.
A great breakfast experience in Melbourne. Nice choices of combos with all fresh garnishes makes the food every way money's worth. Awesome surroundings , lots of greenery inside the place makes it very enjoyable.
Service by and large extra prompt as we had our plates removed without asking even we hadn't finished. That's the only blemish we mention.

Second review:
The coffee was really good, great taste, smooth flavours, and the right amount of richness, well done that barista!
This time round i had the Au79 burger; Fantastic! For $19 this burger is very filling, has great range of flavour, the meat patty itself is infused with subtle yet noticeable herbs and flavours. Bacon, lettuce, mayo, tomato and sauteed onions in a brioche bun, i think, all come together for a delightfully tasty burger.
The Cajun sprinkled fries finish this burger off nicely.
First review:
Had the Au79 big breakfast.
Everything on the plate was cooked well. Really enjoyed this simple dish.
It looks bigger than it actually is, however, i did not leave hungry! It was the right amount of filling.
Great black coffee, great meal. Loved it!

The famous café of the Richmond there is a large cafe that can accommodate many customers. But if coming on a day when many people may have to wait a long time The menu of the restaurant is Western fusion food. Beautifully decorated dishes And have a highlight on the coffee menu as well
I. m. M.
Beautiful trendy interior with great modern brunch dish options! The staff were friendly and though it was very busy during brunch-lunch hour the business was prepared and was able to inform waiting customers the wait-time on tables. Definitely book ahead if you're more than 2 people for brunch!
You can enjoy a cuppa or a delicious smoothie while you wait for your food, which took a while but you can't really complain - it was understandable!
Vegetarian friendly ☺
N.
Majority of the food was served cold, except the hash which was warm. Food was very oily and a tad over priced. The service was great though and coffee was nice.
J. C.
Nice place for brunch. The space is really nice with sufficient tables to manage the foot traffic that's attracted to the venue. The food is pretty good with large serving sizes. I had the fritters which tasted really good but the majority of the texture was more "mush" than crunch. Coffee was great.

Classy well run place that I’ve been keen to visit for ages. I wasn’t quite ready for how spacious it is. It’s a huge place that seems to go on forever out the back. It’s beautifully fitted out throughout and is lovely and stylish in every way. A most impressive space.
The menu is nicely balanced. Not too many choices which I usually like. My companion and I had one of the Bloody Marys before we chose a breakfast. While these took a while to come out they were well worth the wait and were lovely and appropriately spicy.
We both chose the salmon rillette for our main after an informative conversation with the manager. This is a really lovely dish. It’s beautifully presented and has a deep tasting rillette on quality bread together with lovely salmon roe, nice greens, chopped avocado and radish. We both thought it was a top quality dish.
We had a beautiful coffee to finish. My long black was silky and gorgeous with superb length.
We had a variety of servers today. They were all lovely and efficient with the small exception of the delayed Bloody Mary at the start.
This is a very good cafe. It deserves its lofty rating.
A. A.
What an amazing place! It is beautiful with all the plants. The space is open and so inviting. The service was so friendly and everyone was really helpful! The food was spectacular. I had the bombe Alaska waffle and it blew my mind. The flavour was mind blowing and it is just so beautiful to look at! My friend had the charred greens and they were so perfectly cooked. This place was just all around amazing. Great location. Can't wait to go back!
S. R.
Great local Cafe with a super all day breakfast menu. Cakes are also great. Easy parking under the building.

We had a family birthday celebration here. Very low key, a party of 11 guests. But the service consultant was so attentive, knew the menu really well, even asked us questions about our coffee preferences before explaining and recommending the coffee choice we are likely to enjoy. When we ordered dessert we wanted everything sliced in half so that people can swap and share to experience other desert options. They even had a bday candle over our celebrants desert and helped us sing happy bday for her. It made the affair extra special. The food was also served really quickly which we appreciated as we all turned up with an empty stomach. Overall, I think this place lives up to its high ratings. Food was also really good. I've posted some below.

A gorgeous venue with a gorgeous team full of chill attitudes and a passion for customer service.
Mason serviced the floor and sat us in a gorgeous booth where I could see everything going on. They operated like a well oiled machine and when I complimented him on that he was eager to explain his concept of rotating the "zones" so that no "zone" is ever left unoccupied for too long. As previous hospo experience, it was super refreshing to see such passion for a seamless experience for customers. His attitude and personality are gorgeous, and 100% this is my new local because of Mason alone, the delicious food was just a bonus on top of that.
Nikki cashed us out and she was such a beautiful person, the mask couldn't hope to hide her bright smile and friendly energy. She also assisted us in identifying the two baristas Rex and Hannah. Neither were sure who made the coffee I had but it was superb an they were vibing behind the machine so I have no doubt they both make a mean coffee. The texture was to die for, perfect temp and their house blend grinds are so good I bought a bag for my domestic machine a few weeks later :)
10/10 recommend giving them a go.
C. P.
Great location, great service and ambience to this place. Very busy and popular as there is a lot going on here. Coffee was on point as it should be for a place thats roasting their own coffee. Food was great, I hand a pumpkin dish wish was well presented and little lack luster in taste but still would suit many people's taste. Well worth trying.
K.
This is truly one of Melbourne's top cafes. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is beautiful. They offer a big variety from bakery style foods to restaurant dining. They roast their coffee onsite which has it's own distinctive taste.
There is an function area at the back of the building perfect for any event.
Highly recommended a visit
T. L. Y.
Love the ambience and service is amazing. Always with a smile. Coffee is great . Look forward to be here every Thursday for our BNI meet up.
A.
Great service, great food, great coffee. This place is a gem. The cafe is decent size with excellent interior designs. We were lucky to be seated in the booths which were ultra comfy with plenty of room.
S. R.
AU79 chadstone is my new favourite cafe. Crispy zucchini, corn fritter was amazing with pickled onions and dukkah spice, eggs were perfect. Coffee just right. My second visit in less than a week I’ll be back again!
G.
Cafe, bakery and coffee roaster, everything you need for an awesome brunch experience. The cafe had a beautiful ambiance, and is stunning. There is seating in several areas, and a variety of types- I love the round booth tables. Beans are roasted on-site and are beautiful. There is a large variety of decadent cakes and pastries available in the food cabinet, and there is also a wonderful menu with lots of different options.
You can pre- book a table on OpenTable.
Service is great too - can’t fault this place on anything!
Can’t wait to return to AU79.
M.
Okay it’s a pretty decent cafe. Staff are good.
Don’t expect salt and pepper on your table - it’s only given to you if you manage to find a busy waitress and ask.
C. P.
Love this place, whether for brunch when Melbourne is not in lockdown, or for their bread and choice of pastries. I had their flan today and it was incredible! Coming from France, what a delight to enjoy such delicious pastries in Australia
W. N.
Friendly service despite being busy at the time, coffees ordered had good almond milk but a touch weak. The space is bright, green, inviting and relaxing. Baked eggs came out quickly, seemed rushed & undercooked, could have done with an extra few minutes in oven. Wagyu burger with double patty was decent enough with Macca's style fries. Happy to return to sample other menu items.
I. c.
generous portions of delicious food 🍽 in a price range around $25 - 30 with coffee (oatmilk); friendly and responsive staff members despite a busy sunday ☺
they are also selling different kinds of sourdoughs, coffee beans from different origins and coffee mugs ☕
just a heads up: could be hard to find a good spot to park
K. N.
I visited over the weekend with a group of 6 and the wait time was about 30min. You could nibble on some bread and olive oil while you waited for a table, which is a cute idea. The fritters I had were tasty, but just needed a little more chutney on the plate. Coffee was decent. Love the funky interior and all the greenery.

Au79 is a cafe located in Nicholson Street, Victoria. The cafe is accessible via PTV tram (96 and 12). The cafe serves a variety of food including prawn linguine, pancakes, big breakfast, hash lamb, soft shell crab burger, etc. The prawn linguine is a must try in the cafe! The food tastes good and price is quite reasonable. The cafe is also famous for its coffee. The cafe is very spacious and many big tables are available. It is a great place for family and friends gathering during the weekend. The interior design is magnificent and the environment is very cosy. The greenery of the cafe is very relaxing. Staffs are very friendly and approachable. Do check me out on my instagram @ roshan_arjun for more feeds. Cheers!

Loving the incredible decor with a garden vibe! The place is filled with beautiful plants and natural light. The service was attentive and the food came out pretty fast and was delicious. Definitely will be back soon : )
I. S.
Super nice interior, staff was really attentive, service from the minute we got in till when we left was great. Coffee is good. I had avocado on toast which was delicious, my partner had big breakfast and he enjoyed that too. They also got quite a few retail items. Got some bread and cakes for home, once again really enjoyed those. Au79 just became one of my favourite brunch spots in Melbourne! Keep the quality high guys!
A.
Came here for a special event. Didn't even know this place if it wasn't for it. Besides the great environment and modern rustic like feeling, the food was average in my opinion. All of them were cold by the time they reached the tables, and the roast pork I had had is probably tougher than chewing on a bone.
Z. Y.
Came here for breakfast twice. Service is first class. The atmosphere is great. Food is amazing. Tried a few diffetent things from the menu and ech one was great. They also bake thier own bread!
H. D.
The food is average
But the decor is pretty and the shop is spacious. Great for taking photos only
M. E.
Great new spot on Abbotsford's busy Nicholson Street. Contemporary Australian brunch menu with plenty of Asian fusion, from Kimchi to coconut pannacotta.
Definitely worth a try, but get in quick, this will soon become Melbourne's new go to brunch spot.
S. E.
They say the best test for a chef is how they do them eggs. Checked out this new place today and they have an amazing line up on their menu - yet I ordered their scrambled free ranged eggs on their fresh baked sour dough bread and these guys nailed it! DThe eggs and bread were both soft and fluffy. They serve soy coffees here and their soy flat white is on point. The staff are friendly and accomodating and were happy to sit me in a quiet area as requested. Great vibe and decor. Food and coffee came with minimal wait time. Looking forward to coming back here again.
J. L.
Gold indeed! Feast for your eyes while you feed your belly. So impressed by how beautiful this place is, it's like an indoor garden and very Instagramable.
As it wasn't peak hour, the guy at the door greeting all guests was very happy to have a chat and tell me about the mouth-opening decor. Transformed by Mim Design, the stained cement floors is complemented by Italian furniture and ornamental rings made in Russia. It has a bakery and roastery in the middle section, producing fresh pastries and brews in house. Seating 200, the place collects a string of awards for its modern design and creative dishes using seasonal produce.
With too many tempting choices, the helpful and friendly staff made some recommendations and left me to consider. The Hiramasa Kingfish exceeded my expectations. Much too pretty to eat, the slices of Kingfish with avocado cream, daikon, pickled ginger, yuzu, nashi pear and puff rice were aestheticaly arranged. Each ingredient was unique in taste and texture but also harmonised with the others. My taste buds were in foodie haven. The turmeric latte with almond milk has a bit of a kick - spicy but creamy.
I can't say enough great things about this place except it's worth bringing family and friends here for the experience.
C. R.
Always a good stop for a decent coffee. Warm atmosphere makes jt a good place to hang out but their speedy service for a take away guy like me is much appreciated.
S. L.
Extremely loud music and bad place to have a chat. Coffee is good, but food was ordinary. Had the prawn benedict: frozen prawns, average portion, eggs were fine.
L. C.
I tried the chicken pancake and it was delicious! Variety of flavors on it ! Good for lunch! And I had a berry cheesecake really good too! You are bound to enjoy it!
P. M.
Found this place through an application on mobile phone and it was incredible! Love the drink menus with a lot of options for you to choose. I had iced chocolate which has ice cream on top of it. That am one was really good and the atmosphere was very calm and beautiful. I definitely love it and will go there again! If you love coffee, trees and friendly staff this place is the one!
M.
Friendly staff , lovely decor with loads of atmosphere , what a cafe with botanical garden inside . Ordered the au79 burger and the hiramasa kingfish . The burger was average (I don't think I would order it next time ) but the kingfish sashimi did blow my mind ! The kingfish was sliced thinly but wasn't like the Japanese sashimi , it came with avocado , pear , yuzu and pickled giner , full of favour ! What a surprise ! Highly recommended if it is available ( I believe it is a seasonal dish )
S. K.
Great coffee awesome cake's Great friendly staff highly recommend

Not as good as usual but that's probably just circumstances. Only 2 small bits of calamari but loads of salad in the calamari salad. Will still go back as this was just a blip I'm sure.

Definitely a must visit when in Melbourne! Au79 is more than a cafe, they sell their own bread made inhouse, you can rent it out for functions, they do high teas and you can given buy the plants they have around the cafe! Or the pumpkin linguine.
E. K.
Came here around 2 pm because first time went around 12 pm and there was a long queue. This place is HUGE! There's hundreds of seatings split into different sections within the premise. Decorated with numerous plants and vegetation makes me felt like im in a glasshouse. Food was okay and service was quick.

Came here for brunch on a weekday. I was amazed with the size of the interior & loved the space. The service was very friendly. My avo on toast was tasty & I loved the different textures. I'd recommend a visit!
M. M.
Good view, good design, good food and good service. But we went on weekends so it’s a bit busy and crowded. Need to wait around 10-15mins to get a table.
A. C.
I have been to AU79 several times now and I have never been disappointed. They have the standard fare (smashed avo) but they also have some really unusual choices too like Korean veggie Benedict which are absolutely delicious!! Today's lunch was lamb rumb. Humungous, delicious and so reasonably priced for what you get. The space is really big but it's not too noisy and I love how much greenery they have put into the space.

Great breakfast spot. Nice place. Friendly staff. Although not walking distance from the CBD it is well worth an uber trip to have some breakfast here.
A. F.
Great space! I had a business meeting there for Fresh Networks and loads of different areas to work in. Coffee was solid, but took 20min and I had to remind them. Overall would return for sure, but parking is a little difficult so grab some groceries and park underground next door for 2 hours free!
D. T.
Delicious breakfast with a spicy twist. Enjoyed the big breakfast which came with eggs, bacon chorizo, hash brown, and mushrooms.
D. H.
A nice surprise hidden behind the Hive shopping centre and the gritty end of Victoria Street, with a full roastery and a creative menu. It's probably been here for a while but I'm glad I stumbled upon it. I'll be back to try more of the menu. Filter coffee is a specialty.
A. Z. (. O. T.
Favourite brunch spot in Melb! I keep going back, this place is amazing. Really good coffee-they have their own roastery inside! Staff are always super friendly and polite. As you walk inside, its as if you’re walking through a rainforest! The smashed avo is so good & waffle is a piece of art! The changing menu keeps things interesting-YUM!
J. L.
fruits on the waffle and pudding are full of flavour and my friend love the coffee. plenty of seats and very welcoming staff.
L. H.
Waiter (who I assume was owner/manager) took our order but didn't inform the food was ran out and no Bao, so they used buns. Not very good service but good vibe/ spacious.
C. G.
Beautiful atmosphere, new menu great 63 degree egg luv it
T. C.
I would give this place a 3.5 stars. The dessert looks amazing, we had the cheesecake and we LOVED it. Now onto lunch. I had the burger, and it was good but not amazing, just your average burger. Fries were a bit soggy too. My friend had the soft shell crab burger and it was good foo. BUT the beef brisket Benedict on the other hand was not good. It was too greasy, with not much vegetables to cut through it. My friend who has it said she would not recommend it.
The interior is pretty, there’s plenty of space and if you park in the mall next door (that has woolies there), you can get your ticket validated at Woolies so it’s free parking! I think I would go again for the cakes but the mains are alright, and pretty pricey but not AMAZING for that price.
B. T.
Only thing that is making this a four from a five star was the service. While acceptable there were too many times I could not find my server to help us and had to ask the others instead
Otherwise the food not only tastes good but had nice portions as well.
Coffee was excellent and there’s a great deal of complexity to them
S. T.
Beautiful restaurant and decor. Very green and lots of nature light. Fantastic atmosphere. Always a great place to bring a friend to.
A few different coffee selections and lots of beautiful cakes on display.
Food may not be the tastiest but they all present well. The few dishes I've had tend to be on the salty side.
Great coffee and great staff.
K. B.
One of my go to breakfast/brunch/coffee and cake place. Love their food and their juices are a must add on. Me and my little girl love going there for coffee and cake in the afternoon. My only wish was for vegan option in the dessert section 😋.
J. H.
Despite seeing the 3.7 stars for this cafe, we still decided to check it out ourselves and the menu was great. My pregnant wife was super happy as she getting sick of hard boiled eggs and bacon. Big, spacious and plenty of natural light in this cool cafe. Deserves a higher overall rating
N. B.
Everyone here is so friendly!!! They always get out of their way to provide outstanding service plus their bread and coffee are delicious!!! Highly recommend 🙌
N. S.
Good sized cafe with a modern menu. Food taste was decent nothing out of the ordinary but the plating, presentation and serving was par excellence. Would recommend for 1 visit and give it another try.
E. W.
truffle scrambled eggs (special), croque madame, au79 burger, potato croquettes, steak frites with truffle butter (special), lamb croquettes, belgian waffles
E. T.
Beautiful food and good coffee! Staff were also attentive and polite. An ideal brunch location.
The restaurant itself is very spacious and gorgeous with lots of folliage and plants. It has quite a large capacity, I'd potentially recommend for big parties. However, I wouldn't recommend during hot weather, seating at the back can be quite hot and humid (unless that's your thing!).
I ordered the Mango waffle dish which was delicious and perfect for a sweet tooth's breakfast or dessert. 😋
M. b.
A beautiful space, with a well thought out and interesting menu! The coffee was super well made. (even though not my preferred blend still delish!)
Everyone working there was super lovely💙
It was clear they took great pride in everything they served.
G. R.
Beautifully presented, well balanced food. The service was fast and efficient. Fabulous to see a Melbourne cafe doing something a bit different with their interior! There was large cues outside throughout the whole time we dined there of people waiting for tables, so if that doesn't speak for itself I don't know what will!
D. W.
Great food and sraffs
J. T.
Beautiful setting and excellent service, prompt and attentive. Food was interesting and delicious. Cannot wait to return.
S. U.
Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. We have seen before that it will be very full during high demanding times so we decided to come a little bit outside this busy times and it was worth it.
H. M.
Great atmosphere, especially when it's not too busy. Very friendly and attentive staff. Kale and corn fritters are delicious.

The AU79 just opened last April 2017. This cafe owned by CCC Group that has extensive experiences in the cafe business. CCC Group also owns Addict Food & Coffee, Sir Charles, Liar Liar and Prospect Espresso. AU79 "Good as Gold" has great interior design with the high quality materials, bright, modern, sleek and also greeny with additional hanging ferns on the ceiling and other plants.
They know how to treat their customers, the customer staffs were very attentive, friendly and cheerful. We've got a very good impression as soon as we arrived to this cafe. Hopefully it will be part of their business culture and not because of they're a new player in the cafe business to attract new customers.
We came for a lunch and ordered a signature burger Au79 Burger (Wagyu beef patty, mac and cheese, bacon, jack cheese, pickles, tomato, lettuce, ijonnaise and fries) for $20.00.
I know $20.00 for a burger is pretty expensive but if you look at the size and portion of the burger, it was massive.
The Wagyu beef patty was cooked perfectly, great presentation and generous portion. They used a small pot to serve the fries which was a creative idea. Fries were also fresh, we enjoyed and really made a great choice. We would certainly come back to try some other dishes.
Yay : Spacious *plenty seats available, great interior design, great customer service, great value

this use to be an amazing place but it looks like it has changed owners. the food is still great but atmosphere needs to be improved

Trendy spot in Richmond. Really cool interior inside and it’s a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. I’m a black coffee drinker and it hit the spot! Free samples of hot cross buns on offer for when I visited which was a nice bonus!
S. M.
Good environment, delish food, attentive staff. Would have given 5 stars if the portion is bigger!
B. G.
The food was good but neither very good nor excellent. Coffee was very good - not too milky, not too bitter - but not excellent, since the milk consistency was a little off target.
The copious indoor plant life is really beautiful.
I. H.
Fresh, extra tasty foods. Great brunch atmosphere! Totally recommend:)
K.
Lovely staff who are always very helpful for mums with prams!! Thank you! Great food and coffee.
t. m.
Underrated coffee if you ask me. This might be my favourite spot in the city -- their pulls are consistent and their roast is just perfect.
The Olive bread is also amazing.
Can't speak to the food though.
L. F.
A good place to escape the office for lunch. A nice interior design and layout with beautiful plants and natural light. I had the Smashed Avocado and the additional cured salmon. The dish was yummy and lovely presentation however the salmon was bland.
D. H.
Walked inside it’s like having brunch in an indoor garden, food is nice but it takes a while, fantastic place for friends/family catch up even business networking events.
H. B.
Friendly & welcoming! In a lush and fresh setting. Beautiful decor and interior fitout. Good menu options and drinks too. Nice service as well! Definitely worth going in! They sell fresh bread also.
K. J.
Had a great time recently with friends having lunch. The food was fantastic and a large serving. Fresh juice. The waitresses were fantastic. Everyone who came enjoyed their meals. Would definitely return.
K.
Excellent coffee. Baked eggs wasn’t as expected though. Will b back to try other food items.
S. T.
Very nice ambience. Food was overall nice, but somewhat not as amazing as it looked. Juice was very tasty.
T. S.
Good coffee, great food, good atmosphere, massive place.
C. C.
Quick and generous portion!

Brunches are incredible. Coffees are perfect. What more could you ask for?

Solid all round. Love the green luscious garden theme the most.

Giant space, enjoyable fancy breakfast

Good coffee, pastries and bread. Beautiful cafe and service. * try to go weekdays as weekend is super packed !!

Nice weekend bbq and did really like the espresso tonic for something completely different and refreshing
C. G.
Beautiful atmosphere, new menu great 63 degree egg luv it

Beautiful food and good coffee! Staff were also attentive and polite. An ideal brunch location. …
C. Y.
Love their housemade bread. It is so soft! The egg is creamy but a bit salty for my taste.
A. W.
I love this place not only for the excellent coffee , nice food, great cake selection and being pram friendly, but because they make fantastic bread with the option of being SLICED. As sleep a deprived parent with two little ones, I cannot be more appreciative of this time-saving perk.
A. M.
Amazing food and ambience. Really enjoyed with my friends.
R. L.
Nice atmosphere! I only tried coffee but I'll come for brunch next time :)
S. S.
Beautiful new place with amazing interior design! Good coffee! Visited it on the weekdays, it was very full and quite hot inside. But still totally enjoyed it!
G. A.
Great food and big portions. Huge space and love all the plants. A couple of dollars more expensive for each plate than other cafes nearby, but worth it for the size and taste.
R. C.
Coffee was great and really smooth! Love the plants inside.
B. M. D.
Really nice interior woth plants everywhere and well lit and spacious. One of the nicest cafes I've been to aesthetically. Staff very friendly. Great coffee and really nice food. The only criticism is the menu is a bit limited. I've seen much better menus elsewhere but that being said the options available are great
C. M.
Fantastic coffee and croissants, great place to catch up with friends
M. 3.
Yummy breakfast brunch or lunch here. Great service & value. Very pretty inside lots of greenery, plants, baked goods & coffee awesome
J. L.
Very delicious food and atmosphere. Worth coming to here again.
R. S.
So tasty and ambient!
Decent range of vego, vegan and gluten free.
Good for small or large groups.
Paid $11 for a GF small cake which was surprising but the rest of the dine in menu is reasonably priced
C. M.
Some of the best coffee I’ve had in a while, and in such a beautiful space!
The cafe is gorgeous and bright, and with plenty of space so you don’t feel like you’re bumping elbows with the people next to you.
And the waffles? 100% satisfied my sweet tooth (and then some). Food was delicious and great portion size for the price. It came out pretty quickly, but we didn’t feel rushed to get out of the cafe quickly either (helped by the massive size of the space).
I only went with one friend but plenty of people had larger tables for bigger groups or birthdays so it’s a great space for that as well.
J. S.
Impressive set up in near Victoria Street. Leafy green setting with good coffee and fusion brunch menu. Very Melbourne and worth a visit.
N. R. M.
Everything was amazing! Good coffee, delicious breakfast and incredible staff :) it was great to enjoy reading my book in a fantastic atmosphere. Bravo!
S. S.
The food was really good and the atmosphere was great. They are obviously used to having lots of people at once so they handled a short wait and busy period very smoothly.
I ordered the avocado toast with vegan option, which included hummus. The pumpkin bread was so tender and delicious, it was definitely the highlight of the meal for me! I could have gone without the balsamic drizzle but overall a great meal.
G. W.
Always a favourite. The food is delicious, although they forgot our drinks, they tasted so good we overlooked it! It's such a beautiful venue, with plenty of indoor plants, and the rustic vibe really makes this place a great place for brunch/lunch. The staff are also always really friendly. Check out the cakes... you won't be disappointed.
G.
Good food, great service!
B. T.
Bright and comfortable place with great service and lots of good breakfast options.
T.
Ive been here twice. Second time for some rye bread. I wasn't given the bread despite the man telling me "yes its definitely rue bread." Charming customer service but give me what I ask for please.
First time I called in here for a coffee. The service was really friendly and welcoming.
My strong skinny latte was ok, unfortunately for me it was watery and the coffee flavour was o, without a great depth of flavour surprisingly.
There’s not much more to say really, it was an average coffee.
D. E.
Beautiful interior, staff were friendly. Food was delicious, but not worthy of 5 stars...
F. S.
Really beautiful interior, high ceiling and lots of leafy plants around that give a sense of relaxation. Beautiful and comfortable furniture too. Then there's the coffee which is really good and amazing food, they have a few vegan options, i can always rely on a tasty granola bowl. There is also a display cabinet at the corner with cakes and chocolates that are stunning and well crafted.
F. C.
This place is huge and today it was full. The offerings here are excellent. The menu is varied and modern, something for everyone. The waffles were light and fluffy with lots of sweet flavors. My scrambled eggs were excellent, two big pieces of house made toast, tasty mushrooms and the standout cheesy potato hash. Quality coffee and a choice of fresh juices too. Worth a try.
M. M.
Nice decor!!
Great ambience and good quality coffee!!
H. T.
A very contemporary looking cafe with posh mise-en-scene, for those into taking photos while in a cafe. Food and coffee is absolutely great. One of the best cafes in Melbourne to go to.
D. S.
Great for large bookings provided you call or email in advance and they will do the tests for you. The waiters were very helpful and the food was cooked to perfection. Lovely interior with lots of lush green plants. Have definitely been there more than a few times to eat. Never been disappointed
A. R.
Nice atmosphere. Free WiFi for the kids. Coffee was very good and so was the food. Bread is amazing. Friendly staff. Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars this time is that our coffees took quite a while to come out and for some reason my scrambled eggs on toast came in a plate/bowl hybrid thing which made it a bit hard to cut, to be fair though they replaced the bowl with a plate when I asked. We'll def go back!
E. T.
I normally dont like having to wait but it was worth it. Such a fantastic space well designed complemented by good furniture and layout. Love the colour palette. Excellent food and cakes, the coffee being one of the many highlights. Definitely one of the better cafes in the inner north. Also good for large groups.
B. S.
Nice weekend bbq and did really like the espresso tonic for something completely different and refreshing
I. L.
Beautiful interior, very spacious and filled with greenery! They do great oat milk coffee, and the atmosphere is very pleasant
H. M.
Attended Battle of the Bagel at AU79. Great venue and an awesome event by Time Out and Philadelphia Cream Cheese!
f.
Lovely atmosphere and nice food.
M. Y.
Amazing aesthetics and great for getting nice photos. Food cost is a little bit on the steep side and it did not taste as amazing as some of the other cafes I have been to. Coffee was also average, and I believe for $4, the coffee can at least be a little stronger.
M. T.
Have come here a number of times as we live close. Food is usually good, especially when they have the scrambled truffled eggs on special. Coffees have improved. Prompt service but would avoid on weekend with large group - look 45 minutes for food to arrive and 20 minutes for coffees.
P. W.
Really enjoyed the coffee, the avocado on pumpkin toast was enjoyable.
B. B.
Delicious food, and great ambiance!
R. R.
Awesome coffee and great food!
T. P.
Wonderful cafe tucked in the area of North Richmond. Great service and staff, felt really welcomed as soon as we walked in. Awesome food and coffee. Bread baked on premise, coffee roasted there as well. Will definitely come back. Keep up the good work.
L. B. (.
Has earned a spot on my list of favourite cafes in Melbourne (along with East Elevation, Sir Charles, Grub, St Ali,...).
Beautiful and spacious. Food was good. Staff was remarkable, aware of my needs and super friendly without overdoing it.
R. C.
Love coming here when working from home and want to work in a space with great atmosphere as the music is spot on and not too loud or too quiet. Coffee and smoothies are delicious and highly recommend. Also free wifi which is a bonus.
J. A.
Gone for brunch, seating was very good not cramped.
My daughter who is shouting us for brunch has twins 10 months old and ample room for the trolley.
Food was very good and quite a choice to select.
You must book to guarantee a table.
Price was very reasonable, l definitely would come back.
K. L.
Love the food, the service, specially the view - can’t resist having your brunch at the bench with some plants around and sunshine from the roof. Definitely will come back!
K. S.
Friendly attentive service, cool interior design and of course yummy food n coffee
D. S.
Au79 had been on my radar for a while but never quite made it there but was excited to know that a networking event I was invited to was held there. Don't be deceived by the eclectic outside because inside is bright, open and airy with a lovely funky cafe feel about it. Our meeting was held out the back an easily catered for 30 of us. However, in that space as we were finishing was a long table for around 20 and on the other side, booths for say 4 - 6. The capacity of this venue was quite extraordinary.
In the front is where most of us would normally drink, eat and hang out. The space is so inviting with the natural light, raw bright walls with delicate white murals and high industrial ceilings.
The staff are wonderful and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Toilets are clean and I can't believe I'm saying this but the large beautiful spray of flowers made it even nicer. In fact, the entire place was sprinkled with flowers and greenery that created an endearing aesthetic.
You not only just buy food but potted plants, reuseable cups, bread and cakes so do drop in and check out what's on offer.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking out front isn't too bad but more challenging during busy periods - stick with it, you always find something.
Will return and thank you everyone.
C. G.
Brunch was absolutely delicious! We were in a group of 8 and service was great. Our waitress kept us nicely stocked up with coffee and juices whilst we waited for food. 5/5 easily. Will be back to try all of the awesome things my friends had today that I was envious of.
A. G.
Excellent meals (pulled beef brisket, corn fritters with kale, eggs - all done beautifully). Atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, light and airy. Coffee was well made and tasty but lacked body for my liking. That said, I'd happily return!
S. P.
Fabulous venue for brunch. The place was big enough to accommodate for the popularity it deserves. Food was delicious and made with attention to detail and for the love of food. Customer service was also very good. The look and feel of the venue was great, with luscious indoor plants displayed throughout with the backroom full of healthy and beneficial to health indoor plants!
E. O.
We went out there for Sunday brunch with a 30-40 minute wait, but it was worth it. Our food was served quickly and fresh, looks and taste delicious.
The overall layout of the place looks beautiful. Lots of natural lighting and plants everywhere, creating a spacious ambiance considering how busy it was.
W. Z.
Loved the spacious interior decor and plants. Great presentation on drinks.
A. R.
Absolutely fantastic batch brew and pour over coffees. We loved both.
Highly recommended place for coffee lovers!!!
B. d. R.
The atmosphere is very nice (though the music may be a bit too loud) and the coffee is good. The food, not so much - maybe we were unlucky with our choices but won't be hurrying to come back. The toast with peanut butter comes with such a tiny amount of peanut butter that it's not enough for even a single piece of toast, no matter how thinly you spread it. I asked for extra and got it no problem... But was also charged $2 extra to get just enough peanut butter for both pieces of toast. Considering there are much better choices in the area, I would give it a miss.
S. M.
Wonderful coffee and delicious food! Interior is very beautiful. Definitely a place worth visiting!
Y. L.
Cool place, good food, good for groups, usually wait, but won't take long, this place have massive dining area. Staff were friendly and warm, reasonable price, music can be too loud sometimes. Overall worth to try.
N. B.
Coffee is really good, great service. Food is good too. They bake fresh breads everyday. Great atmosphere if you wanting to catch up with friends. We had our chrismas party there the one year, it was secluded from everyone else right at the back.
S.
Great atmosphere, pretty venue. Au79 has a massive dining area. Foods are here neither good nor bad. The prices are fair. Still will be back, Au79 with a really nice vibe and I love the interior and space there.
C. J.
A lovely cafe with loads of atmosphere. The interior is so inviting and inspiring. The food is top notch and full of flavour. I tried the kimchi breakfast and while it was so different and tasty, by the end I was done with the full on flavours. Regardless, I am satisfied. You can also purchase freshly made local sourdough and other goodies, including indoor plants and gorgeous pots.
g. s.
Friendly service and coffee were nice. went there several times.
Wasn't pleased with the food when I went with my friends yesterday. Veggies were too oily and way too much salt. The mushroom seemed pre cooked AND overcooked, went dry and taste like rubber(also too salty) don't spend your money on that one..
The menu changed a bit recently. Miss the old ones. Nicer plating and better quality.
C. C.
Great place for brunch. Spacious and delicious foods. All the staff really friendly and they really made my 2 years old son, feels so welcome there. Even the girl at the register drop by and say hello to him. Really happy to bring my family for brunch here. We will be back next time.
L. C. C.
What a great surprise! The place us just beautiful, friendly staff! We went just for dessert, had a fresh and delicious orange juice, coffees and yummy peanut butter French toast! It was delicious! Definitely coming back for breakfast and more desserts! They also sell coffee beans.
L. H.
My partner and I recently hosted a pre-wedding brunch for 20 of our family members at Au79 and it was simply perfect. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable considering the staff were having to take and deliver orders for 20 people across two tables.
We even had a little stage area to ourselves! For anyone who wants an event space or just a casual brunch with friends, we would highly recommend this place! They even sent us home with a few house-made sweet treats!
D. K.
Went for the first tim after hearing a lot of hype and was not disappointed. We didn't book ahead and had to wait 20 minutes for a table but it was worth it. Fantastic menu, we couldn't decide and ended up choosing a brunch item each and the waffles for dessert.. Simply Devine! Great service, good coffee and a wonderful atmosphere. It was busy without being cramped, very spacious.
R. J.
I went here for Valentine's Day late lunch. I actually had made a booking today for 3:00 PM. It takes approximately 30 minutes to arrive to this location, so I was really excited to try out a nice cafe that I hadn't been to before.
I unfortunately didn't get the chance (and doubt I ever will) to try the food. The kitchen closes at 3:00, but I'm not sure why you'd even have the option on your website to book a table at 3:00 if you're not going to serve us food. The guy at the counter offered us a discount for the next time we go which was very sweet of him.
I would say in the future maybe put that on your booking section of your website as you book maybe have an option that says the kitchen closes at 3? Otherwise, why even bother making a booking at that time?
L. M.
Great space and coffee! Lovely food, even if it is a tad overpriced.
G. H.
Had a party here and the staff were so accommodating, making the day super easy. The food was delicious and the plants everywhere are so gorgeous. Great for small and large bookings - definitely worth a visit
M. S.
What a great place! - I have been attending weekly meetings at this cafe for the last ten weeks. Have to say this is the best food and service at any cafe we have met at previously - and there have been a few! Food selection is imgainative, beautifully presented and staff service outstanding. And the venue is a real treat as well. Great effort guys!
B. M.
Came here on a recommendation and was very happy with the result. The food and coffee were both excellent. The service was excellent being helpful, fast and friendly but not intrusive. The interior was also really well done and tables well set out. Would definitely recommend a visit here.
S. T.
An extremely nice cafe. Attentive staff. Great food and coffee. Really nice atmosphere.
S. R.
The coffee was excellent, food was good, wait staff painfully inexperienced/under-trained and this killed the vibe. Our filter coffee was delivered and described as a 'tea' and they then had to go away and confirm it was in fact coffee, my poached eggs came fried, no one knew what was gluten free (and it's unhelpfully not specified on the menu) and the wait staff had the intention of good customer service, but extremely poorly executed due to poor product knowledge. I'll get take away coffees from here, and I'll give them another month before I try the food again.
L. T.
Just got coffee here and it wasn’t too bad, I think it’d be nicer if they used quality soy & regular milk. Gave it 4 stars because the lad on the phone was such a gentleman, never had such service over the phone before so it was a good shock :)
E. E.
Food here is not bad for a local and quick bite. It offers standard brunch or breakfast fare, think granolas, omelettes etc that are generally consistent. The coffee is pretty good and I believe they roast it themselves.
J. T.
Service was friendly but a bit on the slow side. Food was interesting with a limited menu but all well presented. The all day breakfast was a good idea. I had the Burger which was well presented and very tasty. Overall a pleasant experience…..
K. N.
Food is good!! Chia pudding is a lot! Way too much. I could not finish it.
Z. D.
I loved my chilli scramble egg but my gf was not enjoy her Benedict (a bit plain). Coffee was fine.
G. F.
Great food and coffee beautiful place ,❤️
C. C.
Nugget in a quagmire. Although situated in one of the less attractive places in Melbourne the outside world quickly dissipates once you walk through the doors.
Delightfully tranquil, you can dine in or take away some of the best coffee I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. You can also purchase freshly roasted beans, and a number of different tools to help you create your own delicious drinks.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff make for a wonderful experience for coffee lovers.
S. C.
Had a dish last week, a potato hash with mashed potato inside, poached eggs, pickled cabbage and peas. It was amazing.
Returned this week and the item was sadly gone from their menu. Had the Croque Madame instead. Was nice but not quite to my personal taste.
Nice atmosphere and wide selection of coffees and baked items which they make on site. Line can be long but worth the wait.
J. K.
Modern rustic greenie inspired interior, good architects/interior designers worked an ambience that is enjoyable to sit in. Menu has a good balance to please many dinner. Our food and other customers meals were very well presented. I enjoyed the Spring Salad, family had burgers, but was not enjoyed as much. Too much lettuce, bun was maybe not the right fit for burgers, and the straw chips were dry! It would be better if you did 5 or 6 chunky chips, instead of the straw chips, as most people left them, well they did the day we were there! Coffee is good, has a good balance, but lacks depth of coffee hit, more on the milky style that lots of young people prefer.
D. W.
Delicious food, but rather average coffee. Also, if you’re eating during any of the busy times, the place is very noisy, with no sound deadening materials anywhere. It’s just like being seated in a food court or marketplace. Acoustically awful.
The timing of food/beverage is also a bit wrong. I ordered the chilli scrambled eggs (delicious) and a coffee at the same time. I had finished my breakfast, and almost 5 mins later, the coffee arrives.
L. M.
Such a gorgeously styled and delicious café! Staff were very friendly and attentive. The Brisket Benedict & the Chilli Scrambled Eggs were both ridiculously amazing! Lots of room for prams & very accessible. Can't wait to come back.
J. L.
Great food in a lovely setting, staff are pleasant and well trained.....but
Not enough of them, service slow and difficult
J. H.
Solid all round. Love the green luscious garden theme the most.
J. G.
Attended a bridal high tea at au79. Had a beautiful table set-up at the back in a huge space filled with stunning greenery. Excellent service - very friendly and attentive, and were happy to let us leave at any time after closing without any sign of impatience. Fantastic food also. Will be back for coffee & brunch for sure!
L. B.
Amazing place new cafe. That's explains why they're so busy.
J. B.
Hands down my new favourite brunch in Melbourne. The pumpkin linguine was to die for. I will definitely be going back whenever I can. The smoothies were great and not worth some like $8 but otherwise meals were all well priced and delicious. Could not recommend it more.
C. R.
Amazing food - absolutely a fine dining brunch experience. And the venue is stunning. Gold, I tells ya!
T. L.
Beautiful industrial style cafe with lots of greenery. Very accommodating to large groups and mums with prams. Friendly staff and great food options.
N. W.
Beautiful, airy, plant-filled space perfect for brunch or an event. Very relaxing. Satisfying menu, with a good mix of indulgent, interesting, healthy and usual brunch meals and drinks - with plenty of enticing sweets and desserts at the counter to eat there or take away. Something for everyone.
L. B.
Went here last weekend for my partners birthday. My food and coffee were both delicious, my partner got the waffles and unfortunately they were sickly sweet and he wasn't able to finish them. Would still return as staff were lovely!
M. T. C.
A smart little cafe with a good selection of drinks and treats.
Nice venue, conveniently located near the Abbotsford shopping strip.
Excellent coffees.
Quite a different experience than you get 100 meters away on Victoria Parade, although you'll see some of the same characters drifting past.
W. B.
Burger was average, cutlery so blunt the whole table shook just to cut said burger. They have big flower beds, which look nice, but sitting beside them does mean you have 35 tiny flies all over your face and food constantly.
Seems pretty baby friendly, so expect to find entitled parents and hyper active kids here.
All in all not a fantastic experience after going around in circles for 15 minutes to find parking, 10 minutes to get a table and another 50 minutes for the food to show up.
Presentation (decor as well as the food) is good, but to be honest you can get a better quality meal elsewhere. Faster too. Happy to have tried it but I don't think I'll be back.
L. M.
Great experience! Lovely coffee and perfect food! will be back for sure!
K. P.
Lovely big space & very comfortable ambience. Friendly & professional staff. Could not fault them on that. Coffee however, I struggled to drink & couldn't finish it which is rare for me - it was over-extracted and bitter. 😥 I also have an allium allergy which I explained to staff when we ordered. I was assured there would be no onion, garlic or related foods in my meal. Unfortunately there was the green parts of either leek or spring onion in my meal which I didn't realise until I was mostly through it - I started reacting a few minutes later but luckily I always carry my medication. Staff in eateries really need to be aware that allergies are real and can land customers in hospital.
The others at our table enjoyed their meals - they were tasty & well presented.
N. R.
Food, coffee, staff, and ambiance were all nice. Unfortunately the food and drink menu was pretty basic so I can't give it 5 stars.
R. N.
Very average. Smashed cauliflower dish looked appealing but taste was off. Truffled croque Madame was not the best I've tasted. Potato hash we ordered on the side were good. Fruit bread was delicious. Coffee was not great. Staff were very friendly. Good set up.
K. J.
Easily one of the top new brunch spots in Melbourne. They've done their own delicious takes on classic breakfast items (e.g. Korean eggs Benny) and they were quite generous portions (and also quite generous with the truffle shavings on their scrambled eggs!)
Excellent food, excellent coffee and attentive service. 5/5.
J. C.
The best coffee at Northland SC. Great service!!
P. K.
Best coffee in Richmond Abbotsford as far as I'm concerned. Also the dishes are filling and delicious. Staff are very friendly and the entire experience is excellent. Well done
M. W.
Great service, delicious food.and a beautiful place to eat
M.
My local (and favorite) cafe! Best coffee and team around with a really beautiful space - highly recommend popping in!
L. W.
Best Breakfast in Abbotsford! Perfect coffee and a good range of super tasty breakfasts in a beautifully designed setting. If you're in a rush I wouldn't go on a weekend as they are super busy which understandably slows things down
S. T.
I usually come here on public holidays because everywhere else is closed. Despite it being absolutely packed the staff still manage to be friendly and attentive. Very fresh yummy pastries. Nice to see the 10% surcharge because it implies that they're paying their staff legally.
A. C.
Pretty overrated, really. Food was ok to pretty good the few times I have eaten there. Service has always been indifferent, verging on unfriendly. Great take away bakery, though. Bread is delicious.
E. B.
Had an amazing lunch here today! Very busy and my order was forgotten but credit to the very apologetic waitress who gave my table a whole round of coffees on the house for putting me out, even though I only had to wait an extra few minutes for my meal! Excellent customer service!
G.
AU79 is a great space for a morning coffee or a delicious lunch. The fit out is beautiful with lots of plants and the use of woods, concretes / tiles offers a brilliant look and feel in the space. The food is fantastic (and on the higher end of the price scale) and the coffee is absolutely on point. Possibly the most ‘instagramable’ cafe in Abbotsford!
T. L.
Big indoor brunch space. Larger tables as well as longer ones for small parties. The greenery helps keep the noise down but it's not a quiet place. Excellent staff, terrific food.
C.
The decoration is nice, but it is quite expensive for brunch. the main course is over $25 in general. Bought coffee beans as well, and we dont like it (taste bitter for us)
L. F.
I have only had coffee here (which was very good), the staff was very tentative & friendly and although I didn't eat I did look at the menu which had some amazing vegetarian dishes that I would love to try with a very cool atmosphere. Would recommend.
J. M.
Extensive menu and friendly staff. Great range of coffee
A. D.
Fantastic interior and great bread. Staff aren’t always attentive as it is such a large place. I liked their previous version of the menu better than the current one however still a great range and I would return!
E. A.
This place is amazing! The food was exciting and delicious with generous portions and excellent value for money. The service was impeccable with our food coming out less than 15 minutes after we ordered. The atmosphere is also amazing, as though we were sitting inside a beautiful greenhouse.
B. C.
Great coffee - love the cold brew. You must try the potato croquette!
Service has been great when we’ve been - really friendly.
Great selection of vegetarian dishes.
B. C.
All the positives listed below:
1. You can book
2. The man who greets you at the door is lovely
3. The service is good - you actually get it.
4. The decor is divine!
5. The food is amazing and fresh!
R. H.
Love the place! Mainly went for the coffee but the food was amazing as well! Especially loved the cold brew with the Ethiopia bean at the time, very Fruity with a honey flavour and smooth after taste
S. L.
Incredible atmosphere, great service from lovely wait staff and AMAZING food. I had the Truffled Croque Madam which I would highly recommend. My friends also loved the Duck Bao and the Japanese Pancake. We came on a Friday and it was pretty busy but food and coffees came out fast. I went for a take away coffee on their opening day and they did seem a little unorganized, however this was their FIRST day and I can guarantee they have had a stellar improvement within just one week since the terrible reviews have been left.
F. S.
Tastiest bang for buck (with the 50% discount from liven app). Soba salad was full of flavour.
J. S.
Great fresh food, very generous serves and good service, a credit to Julia and the staff.
Eat there often always walk away happy
C. W.
Great food, coffee, architecture and decor. And name. Science.
M. H. J.
Always quick and amazing coffee. Can never pass up a pastry on display in their counter either 😋
T. M.
Have been meaning to come here for some time to see whether it lived up to the hype. With so many good brunch spots in the surrounding suburbs we were a bit let down. The food is fine but a bit pricey. It might be the christmas season but staff were a bit vague. Probably more a venue for instagrammers than foodies seeking out something new.
Y. A.
Nice atmosphere. Great decor. But their fried eggs need to improve as my were very rubbery. They seemed to be precooked then heated? Overall good.
p. m.
very good brunch and service
S. G.
The menu is interesting with some Asian influences. They roast and make pastry onsite, which adds to the aromas and great vibe of the place.
Can be incredibly popular on the weekend, so be prepared to wait if you aren't an early riser.
Just down from Woolworths, so a very convenient stop to replenish your blood sugar ;)
T. V.
Great service, great food, best coffee. And their olive bread is amazing.
M. H.
Trendy new cafe, food is great but nothing too different from what you can get from somewhere else. Nice ambience. They ran out of the 'bao' and replaced it with the regular buns but never told us in advance until the food came out.
J. N.
Beautiful cafe with lots of healthy indoor plants. Food and drinks were delicious. Friendly staff
R. M.
Probably the best poached eggs I’ve eaten.
The sautéed greens were delicious and the staff are all friendly.
I enjoyed the brunch. Thanks
K. T.
A lovely lively establishment filled with good times. Coffee tick, food looks delicious
F. F.
Nice setup. Good food.
P. S.
Good solid service and a good all day menu.
This is a great go to place for lunch. I have not been for dinner yet.
M. D.
Massive inside, really nice vibe - but it was disappointing to see that their vegan 'option' was just about removing an egg... that's not an option! That's an omission. I emailed them about this and no follow up. People, if you're going to offer options (which is why I chose to go there), actually substitute with a different option!
M. C. T.
One of the best cafe in Melbourne 👍
w. c.
very pretty place and good atmosphere, coffee is great, food is amazing. but probably need more staff on the floor so the service will be more excellent :)
Loved it.
G. A.
Brilliant staff, fantastic vibe and mouthwatering, delicoous food (we had the fritters and the pork belly). This is an up and coming marvel. Don't get annoyed if there is a small wait because it's popular and worth it
m. k.
Fantastic ambience and fabulous food
W. J.
These guys do everything themselves: roast the beans, bake the bread, poach the eggs, and froth the milk.
One of the best cafes in Victoria, shiny fit-our in a gorgeous, sunlit warehouse, just off Victoria Street.
A. S.
Insanely good food. Good service. Good coffee. Good ambience. Located in grungy Abbotsford. Visited there with my friends with kids and babies. Very family friendly place. Must go if you’re around Abbotsford!
d. e.
A lovely airy space, once a car repair garage, now white paint, wood and green shrubbery, plus High ceilings and annndustrial edge make it a cool spit on aawarm day. No background music,. hurrah. Spoilt only by aa ver noisy table of children sat right by us. Huge food portions, could easily be halved for most appetites. Japanese pancake and potato croquettes went down very well. Wagyu burger was ordered '''well done' ( for good reason, health related) but came back pink. Sent back, returned with extra fries but still pink. The super polite manager explained why (herbs, colouring) and was incredibly nice about our complaint. The Burger's delicious if a bit too herby . Kitchen watching while waiting :seemed a well oiled machine. Bread making on one side and supplies on the other makes a picturesque exit way. But the service made it most special. Thanks, we'll be back, with doggy bags.

Came in on Anzac day to give this place a second chance. Can I say, it was a definite improvement on my Sunday expericence. Came in and was told there was a slight wait for a table which we happily accepted(was a public holiday). We ordered two coffees a swe sat down which arrived promptly and then ordered the bircher and the croque (both delicious). Staff were great consitantly checking in on us as well. Would recommend to all.
Y. W.
Came here for a networking meeting and the place is fantastic. It is spacious and the food + hot chocolate are good.
A. H.
Food is good but you can get similar or even better elsewhere with less than an hour queuing. We waited for 1.5h from when we stepped in the place till our food came out (approx 1h waiting and nearly 30 mins for the food). For some reason many people came after us but got seated way ahead. Pretty sure I wont come back here again.
C. O.
Good cafe for brunch and coffee.
f. n.
Everything was as perfect as it is, delicious food, super friendly staff , beautiful interior design. We were there for breakfast and left with a big smile on our face. Strongly recommended 👌🏼
R. B.
Delicious big breakfast. Great atmosphere.
E. P.
The best thing about AU79 was their coffee. It was definitely a stand out. Came here on a weekend, and was told that the wait wouldn't be long. The wait was 38 minutes, the exact amount of time it took the Hawaiian authorities to correct their ballistic missile threat text. Typically im fine with waiting - just set expectations appropriately please. I had the avo on toast - it came with rice puffs which was a nice addition but in all the food was average and the seat was uncomfortable (who wants plants sticking in the back of your head).
I. G.
The coffee was reasonably well-made but I did not like the taste of the beans that they used. The beans that they used had a very fruity taste and added a unpleasant flavour to the coffee which spoilt it
J. T.
Always lovely here. Great food & good value. Beautiful atmosphere.
S. D.
Spacious and natural lighting. Nice decor. Good coffee and service.
C. e.
The food is delicious and the service impeccable. So welcoming and easy to book. A stunning environment, highly recommended!
L. D.
Great Atmosphere. Toddler Friendly. The staff were very friendly. The food was a little too salty but good coffee and drinks.
D.
Love the layout of this place, very modern chic coffee roaster but they have also filled the space with greenery. Juices and food are super tasty, they also sell fresh baked bread.
R. A.
It's not uncommon for a gorgeous place with amazing food to have jerky front of house staff (maybe cause they're busy all the time?), but Au79 bucks this trend. Love, love, love!
T. E.
Really cool space, great food and service
A. B.
Giant space, enjoyable fancy breakfast
L. O.
The food is always delicious and great service although it's always packed you still get your food in reasonable time. The place is massive but the decor is fitting and sick.
S. B.
Delicious food and pretty place to eat. First coffee came out delicious but tepid. Second coffee was amazing. Nice staff.
R. A.
Always busy but staff are friendly and able to accommodate us. Coffee is good and so is the food, but quality seems to have gone down over the past couple of years
T. S.
The place looks very nice, and the service was amazing too. The presentation of the food is so colorful, and the flavors and textures were contrasting and balanced.
M. G.
Great atmosphere, quality food, excellent coffee and awesome humans!!!
N. W.
Spacious brunch place for a big group. Very friendly service, tasty brunch, you will never go wrong with anything you pick from the menu.
J. J.
Consistently good coffee. Kind wait staff. Delicious food. Lovely leafy setting with comfy booths and no stairs.
K. C.
Amazing decor and vibe, food was nice, perhaps slightly overpriced. Coffee was a let down for this beautiful place. The treats looked amazing.
K. B.
Atrium industrial cafe serving fav restaurant quality dishes at very reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Dont forget to get a booth. Home made breads and cake finish the meal.
L. K.
Delicious food and very aesthetic.
I. M.
Amazing design, great vibe. Feel compelled to balance some of the bad reviews on here. We went on opening weekend and received very good service when they were almost full and we thought the food was very good too.
M. Y.
Huge warehouse cafe with a spot on menu.
R. A.
We were there for a wedding. Food and staff were first class. Highly recommend for functions.
D. C.
Great service but below average coffee. Food was AMAZING, but the Great Pyramids of Giza could have been reconstructed in the time between ordering and tabling.
T. P.
Ambiance was lovely. Really liked all the plants and furnishings. A great place to relax and have a drink and pastry. Coffee was terrible though.
R. A.
If you love indoor plants and the finer things in life, definitely check out Au79! Their menu is fantastic and their in-house baker offers some great quality bread and pastries
C. T.
Great vibe. Fantastic food. We had a large group of 11 people and we were quickly seated and served.
M. D.
Delicious food, amazing decor. Caters to dietary requirements, friendly service. Gets very hot during the summer, no air-conditioning.
M. M.
Beautiful ambiance, delicious food!
A. H.
A golden experience! Au79 has a beautiful interior to complement such beautifully crafted food. The service was excellent, as were the unique tastes they delivered.
O. B.
Very nice vibes, food and drinks.
B.
Friendly service and great breakfast

Photo from truffle week
L. B.
We had to queue for 40 mins they were so busy but... it was worth it. Looks fabulous inside with all the plants the food was fantastic and so was the service. So all good I would say.
C. C.
We have been here many times for brunch. Although the wait can be super long, we have never been disappointed. Would definitely recommend this place for brunch.
b. L.
Delicious food, friendly staff and atmosphere was great. Best of all it has room to cater for big group bookings.
I. R.
Nice food, generally good service, one forgotten coffee. Nice atmosphere and ambience but very noisy. Too many hard, reflectilve surfaces. Hard to hear conversations.
T. A.
A little overrated...
Nice atmosphere ☀️
Super friendly staff 💁🏻♀️
Family friendly 👨👩👧👧
U might need to wait 10 minutes to be seated 🕑
Superr pricey 💲💲 especially for a uni student 😅
Tasty food 🥑 breakfast & brunch
Fresh juices 👌🏼
There's parking right next to it🚗
A. R.
There was a long wait to enter what is effectively just another brunch spot with live plants, white walls and a slightly disorienting EDM soundtrack. Cuisine had a few attempts at 'Pan-Asian' dishes thrown into some admittedly imaginative breakfast fare. This work well in some cases (Okonomiyaki) and not so in others (Veggie benedict). Nothing special.
E. J.
Great food and coffee!
C. L. L.
Great food, beautiful place!!!
L. F.
Love this place and the food and coffee is great, only looses 1 star as it's very noisy and way too busy. Beat to book
C. C.
Beautiful Kenya washed coffee pour over. Had Spanish baked eggs and Truffle Croquet Madam for late lunch. Big portion!
M. S.
Coffee good, food prices are high for a pretty standard menu.
C. O.
Fantastic brunch, little bit of a wait but was seated fast. Great specials and an amazing coffee blend.
G. H.
Great coffee, service and food
B. R.
Coffee is really good & the food is pretty special too. Venue is an indoor jungle
P. C. H.
Nice ambience, tasty food and lovely wait staff. Do expect a long waiting queue to get a table, if no reservation made earlier. Best to make reservation to avoid disappointment.
Q. O.
Food is really good, warehouse style with lot of plants and greens! Will go back!
A. J.
What a food experience. Sensational staff, superb coffee, food & atmosphere. If yippy are going on the weekend, book & be prepared to wait... trust me its worth it
L. D.
Lovely place. They truely believe u first eat with your eyes. Only problem..... portions too large! Thank goodness i went with my bestie.
T.
Massive place. Okay coffee but a bit noisy. very good for socializing but not for a relaxing quite morning
K. P.
Another newly discovered favourite coffee in Melbourne 💕 Great choice of milk alternatives (including oatly)
D. K.
Great atmosphere. Excellent coffee very worthy of Melbourne. Well priced, kid friendly. Oily chips!!

k. t.
Good food, friendly staffs, beautiful place for catch up, tiktok or Insta photos
F. A.
Pretty happy with this. Sunday morning and it wasn't a massive line to wait at 930am. Huge portion of reaply tasty food and the service was great, lots of Sunday morning smiles. I'll be back again.
A. A.
Good breakfast options and coffee, good vibe to the place. The bread is made on site and is pretty tasty.

Awesome place for breakfast with in built bakery

Really beautiful cafe with lots of potted plants, an interesting theme and great decor. Amazing smoothies, coffee and food options.
E. K.
Good place to have a delish brunch, they also have a great range of filter coffee beans and in house sourdough bread!
r. a. v. h.
We only had coffee but it was great and good service.
D. S.
The ribs and chicken were great. Not a fan of the beetroot goats cheese entree, more like a side dish for me.
C. S.
Great food and coffee. A fantastic way to start the day.
Service was perfect. Great wait staff.
K. M.
Lovely atmosphere, great food, awesome coffee.
J. S.
Very taste food and beautiful area with lots of plants. The wait can be long as it is a very large restaurant.

Food was great. Staff were very friendly and a really nice coffee.
J. W.
Friendly, fast attentive service, delicious meals. Staff made us feel very welcome. Definitely child friendly.
L. K.
Nice coffee and bakery!
J. S.
Everything is delicious, staff and service are good too. My complaint is that it's a little on the expensive side and the serving sizes are sometimes too small.
S. R.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Shame on the wait time but understandable. Always a lovely experience.
E. S.
Wicked brunch place! Food is delicious and service is good too. Yummy coffee and smoothies.
E. O.
Pretty venue, much bigger than it looks on the outside. Good food and good coffee. Great vibe.
M. M.
Great service and the food was good too. Nothing too exceptional on the menu though. Good breakfast place.
S. G.
Airy place with high ceiling. Used to be a motor repair shop. Food and coffee both ok. Friendly service. Good sourdough.

Perfect example of a Melbourne brunch spot. Good coffee made well, good food beautifully presented and good atmosphere with friendly people.
