Awesome place to stop and have a meal breakfast lunch or dinner and wonderful service Great off street parking suitable for cars and bikes. Plenty to explore in town as well. Make sure you stop relax and eat at the Avenel cafe.

Couldn't ask for better customer service. Shaun is such a happy, welcoming person that you feel great everytime you step in his store. The burgers were fantastic (had a cheese burger with no sauce, plain schnitzel and meat lovers plus with BBQ sauce) perfectly made and tasted great. Chips and seafood sticks were crunchy and delicious. Thank you for dinner Shaun. We will certainly be back.

Popped in for lunch today on the way through Avenel. Incredibly friendly service and a neat and clean cafe. I ordered a salad sandwich, sounds boring but it was so fresh and lovely, great quality food. If you are in the area drop by!

Great local food and they cater for gluten free. It was cheap too (he could easily charge more fur what he serves) and they made great chips. The guy who owns the place is really lovely, informative and professional. The town is a beautiful place to stop through with gorgeous gardens and green streets.

Excellent food, friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. The price point for food of this consistently high quality is unbeatable... regardless of where you call home! Do NOT miss a chance to try something from the Avenel Café burger menu... the variety and imagination that’s gone into them is impressive! If you’re heading up (or down) the Hume, don’t fall for the same old blah takeaway... drive the 3 or 4 minutes into town and tell them Norm sent you!

I will definitely stop by at this place while driving Melbourne to Sydney just to grab a coffee and have a conversation with the owner. The pizza we had here by far among the best pizzas we had in Australia. The owner is a friendly person and takes great care of anyone visiting the store not just the customers. He knew about the preferences of the locals - adults,kids, teenagers. He made a delicious fresh pizza for us visitors in the town. A must visit just to meet the owner. :) :)

Worth going 2 blocks off the highway! The servo was packed so we rolled passed to this cafe for lunch. Good Coffee, Very Friendly, Surprisingly big variety, very Reasonably Priced!! We had great made to order sandwiches and burgers. Highly recommend!

We were on the long drive home from a visit up north, and my driver had the urge for a cool drink break. One to stop at Avenel Cafe. You can see from the street, it’s a tidy, well kept store, a perfectly good place to top up on snacks. But inside it’s a welcoming cafe and town hub. The owner advised me expertly on tea varieties, and made my driver an excellent coffee “milk shake” - served in the gorgeous traditional metal milkshake cup, but flavoured with fresh coffee from the espresso machine. We noticed lots of locals coming by, including kids, who were treated with respect, and as a result, behaved beautifully. Two nice tables to sit outside, and plenty of parking. We’ll go there again.

The most cheerful service I've ever experienced. Every time I leave I just have a smile on my face. A pretty standard menu, chips, burgers, pizza just the usual. However there is one Burger that just knocks my socks off. It called the bogan Burger(great name right?) . It's got a paddy lettuce tomato tomato sauce a hand made potato cake and bacon. It's just pure heaven

Shaun is super friendly and was quite busy while we were there. The bacon and egg sandwiches were yummy. If you like your coffee strong ask for a double shot at no extra charge.
