Comments of Brick Lane Melbourne

My experience here was beautiful. I had the chilli scrambled eggs. It had a lovely kick to it and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were angels and very helpful. You can tell they are experienced and seasoned workers. Strongly recommend to come try the food and coffee if you are in Melbourne.
J. G. (.
Salmon Benedict is delicious!
Nestled in the most beautiful laneway in the Melbourne CBD is this great cafe. Friendly staff, and delicious food. Wouldn't definitely recommend.
J. S.
One of my favourite breakfast places in Melbourne. They generally are packed on the weekends, but they never refuse people and can accommodate most.
We ordered the following:
- Red Chilli Scrambled Eggs (With Grilled Bacon, Red Chilli, Spring Onion, Manchego Cheese, On Sourdough Toast Add any sides).
- Corn & Chilli Waffles (With Smashed Avocado, House Tomato Relish, Poached Eggs, Endive, Micro Herb Salad and Chulpi).
Both were quick to arrive and are just so so good. They also make an amazing Smashed Avo.
Their coffee is one of the best as well.
Friendly service and great food.

Cute, busy cafe in a backstreet laneway of Melbourne. Communal and probates tables as well as a few tables outside. Food here is good! Normal breakfast fare you would expect with a good kids menu too. Flavours are Poppin and serves are good size. Coffee is really good and also have juices and smoothies too. They have a small lunch menu too with mainly salads. Staff and service is good and prompt as well. A reliable and good brekky spot, you won't be disappointed
T. G.
Amazing service and the food is cooked to perfection. Busy and bustling cafe with great atmosphere. The food comes quickly and the coffee is amazing.
My favourite dish is the babaganoush. 10/10
M.
Great find in a lane, you walk in and it was bustling !! The food and customer service was great 👍 We are a family of 4 with teenagers and we all enjoyed lunch here. I had the slow roasted lamb salad and it was delicious 😋
U.
This is why I love Melbourne... Great staff, delicious food and world class coffee. Get stuffed Sydney! 😋
T. B.
Great atmosphere, we were let in early on a chilly morning before they opened which was fantastic service. Ordered the Smashed Avocado and added some bacon! It was absolutely delicious. Very filling, could easily split the meal in two. The bacon was nice, it was fresh and the cheese was delicious added with the dish. I recommend trying this meal when you go into Bricklane! Definitely for the avo lovers! Rate the dish 8/10 🥑⭐

Such a beautiful little side alley gem !
Incredible good, great service
A calm, happy, vibrant place for your perfect dining experience
Thankyou Brick Lane !
A. M.
such nice place to get brunch. on the expensive side but definitely worth it. the food tasted excellent and the service was phenomenal. will definitely be visiting again. they had a qr code menu but that was just for viewing the actual menu and not for ordering. would still prefer a physical menu as looking at our phones for a while seems very anti social. still the customer service was great. waiters kept checking in on us to make sure we were enjoying the meals. coffee also looked very nice. highly recommend this Cafe.
G.
Not a bad brunch spot at all! I like that it's a little hidden and in a little nook in a lane way! I ordered a lamb salad, that initially came out incorrect, and a different dish, but their ability to replace my meal so promptly is what really pushed the place to 4 stars for me. I really liked the vibe throughout the Cafe and the hustle and bustle really added to the atmosphere of the place and my overall experience. My only criticism is the 10% surcharge they have on weekends. I know it's common at cafes, but still not something I believe it worth paying....
L. C.
One of the best places I’ve ever had breaky at! Everything came out super fast and was delicious! Lots of veggie options too!
R. E.
Wow, really impressive food! Great coffee too. Fast service. Well worth a visit.
I.
Good place, nice location, service is okay.
Tried smashed avo and the big breaky special, where bacon was visibly overcooked. Coffee is good.
G. A.
Excellent food coffee and service highly recommend this place. Very quaint old building in the alley way.
A. K.
Am actually sitting in the cafe writing this review!
LOVED the chilli scrambled eggs. Perfect blend of cheese & the addition of bacon bits is absolute genius! Unfortunately the coffee was slightly burnt but not terrible. I’ve had coffee here before & it was great so I think I got a bad pour!
Also added halloumi & mushrooms as sides. Service was great & food came out real quick! So many wins!
R. K.
Great little Cafe nestled in a typical Melbourne lane way. All the food we saw come out looked very well presented. We ordered the chilli corn waffles and it was delicious. Coffee was also really good, which is a must for any Cafe that wants to do well and become popular.
R.
Met the family at 7.30 for breakfast at Brick Lane. Service was nice and friendly with a smile. Food was excellent. I went on Easter Monday so there was a 15% surcharge. They accepted Amex which was a bonus. Would highly recommend.
D. M.
I've been here twice. The first time I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Pulled Pork. This was excellently cooked with unique flavours – the pumpkin sourdoug was top-notch, and the fennel & radish salad was very fresh and added interest to the dish. However, the pulled pork was a little bland.
The second time I got the Chilli Scrambled Eggs; my brother ordered the Baba Ganoush; my sister ordered the Eggs Benedict with Salmon.
They were all impeccable.
The flavours in the Chilli Scrambled Eggs were in perfect harmony (even though I asked for extra chilli!) – none were dominating. The greens were all very fresh, and the sourdough tasted freshly baked. The egg was delicate and not overcooked.
The Baba Ganoush provided a unique, authentically Mediterranean twist on a classic breakfast dish. The grilled Halloumi was gorgeous, and the Roma tomato was a lovely touch.
The Eggs Benedict with Salmon was the combination to get – it matched the dish better, and was more naturally flavoursome.
Even better, the atmosphere is energetic and welcoming, and the staff are lovely and warm.
All in all, The Brick Lane will most certainly become one of my haunts!
S. K.
Absolutely love this place for breakfast. I can never go past the pannacotta, too good to miss. Very generous servings, beautifully presented, very delicious and service is fabulous.
D. K.
Mixed Mushroom + over easy eggs and pesto - just wonderfully done and very tasty. The coffee was very good and the staff were kind.
J. C.
the place n staff are nice, but the bacon is to hard to chew,a little bit disappointed.
B. N.
Had breakfast here for the first time this morning and it was amazing. My husband and I both cleared our plates (we ordered the big breakfast and the wholemeal waffles) The service was great, very reasonably priced, will definitely recommend
j.
My friend suggest this place for us to have a brunch. First we have to wait like 30 mins to have a seat. So it’s a really popular place and didn’t let me down. I love their smash avo and coffee. My friend ordered the corn waffle. It’s bit different from any other brunch options no wonder it’s popular in the store.
J. W.
Great service, really quick even though it was a busy morning and the coffee was great. Had a bacon and egg roll and couldn't fault it. Highly recommend!
B. M.
Stoped for lunch. Delicious New York Beef Brisket on a ciabatta roll with sauerkraut, tomato, cheese, lettuce. Came with a small bowl of potato salad. Filter coffee for me, soy latte for my companion. Both great. Pleasant atmosphere and service. Menu and QR registration in a COVID safe environment. Highly recommended.
M. W.
Came here with a friend for an early breakfast and was thoroughly impressed by the food, service and vibes of the place. I usually find egg bennies from other places too creamy and was a bit hesitant to order it at first! But the one that I had here was just perfectly cooked and the flavour was amazing. The staff was equally fantastic; wonderful service throughout. I had spilled a bit of water on the table while pouring, and they noticed the spill immediately when they brought out my coffee, and offered to come back to wipe it. It's a tiny, small detail, but I really think it's these small details that add to a great experience. I really appreciated it and will definitely be back to try their lunch menu.
M.
If you miss out at eating here you are doing yourself an extreme disservice! I highly recommend the Chili Corn Waffles! What a unique and flavorful dish. Service is pretty good too, we were seated pretty quickly despite the crowd. They also have a cool feature on the menu where you can see pictures of the food on your cell phone prior to ordering. The prices are 15-20 bucks for breakfast but the value is certainly there. The food is well prepared with generous portions.
I found someone’s wallet at the restaurant and the staff gave us free coffees. Nice!
Y. W.
Pretty good brunch place. The interior inside was good and warm. We ordered the Chilli Scrambled Eggs and Corn and Chilli Waffles. Both of them were really good and I liked the scrambled eggs, especially.
However, I wasn't a big fan of their hot chocolate as it somehow had an unfamiliar taste.
Overall, the place was good.
A. S.
One of the best cafes in CBD with delicious food and amazing coffee. More importantly the location with vibrant and rustic look. A must visit place to try out chilli scrambled egg
E. C.
We had the lamb salad and the chilli corn waffles, both were great, the waffle was tasty, not dry and fluffy. It had a Peruvian kind of flavour that I really enjoyed. I actually came back again a week after to have it the second time.
Coffees were good too. Service was friendly and prompt. Would totally recommend!
T. T.
Third time here, and every time a charm. Some of the best food to be found, always delivered perfectly and prepared with a great understanding of ingredients, balance and just plain deliciousness. A CBD highlight. Perfectly nailed Rumble Coffee Roasters house blend, with one of Melbourne's most highly regarded, ridiculously experienced and yet humble baristas on the tools. Breakfast on our 23rd wedding anniversary, every bit as well prepared as our fine dining restaurant experience the night before. Bravo!
B. D.
Had a family breakfast here after staying in Melbourne for a night. Staff were amazing, Great coffee and food. Highly recommended.
V. Y.
Amazing atmosphere in a tucked away alley! Delicious food and friendly service
K. W.
Coffee and food was absolutely divine. Had the sweet waffles for breakfast and did not regret. 10/10!
장.
Coffee here is delicious because it is soft and has a moderate acidity.
The atmosphere is good, and the staff is kind.
However, I have to come on holiday although it is difficult to use because I close the door quickly.
Everyone hopes to come here.
Yum yum 😙😙
Y. L.
Egg Benedict with pulled pork is amazing. the pumpkin sourdough and poached eggs are delicious. Coffee is average. Didn’t wait for too long on Saturday noon. Will come back to try more.
J. A. Y.
One of the best CBD cafes I’ve tried so far!
FOOD: We ordered the ‘Corn & Chilli Waffles’ and ‘Wholemeal Waffles’ so we can try waffles, sweet and salty style 🤪 Personally, I loved the Corn & Chilli waffles! The dish was perfect with all the flavours marrying each other perfectly! The star of the show was the smashed avo which was seasoned perfectly and when paired with the waffles and tomato relish was a heavenly bite! The wholemeal waffle was also really delicious with it being a sweet treat but not TOO guilty because of the wholemeal flour! The coffee was also phenomenal! Super rich and done beautifully
SERVICE & PROTOCOL: I have to admit, going on a Sunday is setting yourself up for chaos. Brunch in CBD is usually chaotic but on a Sunday is even more chaotic and I could see the staff working their hardest yet still maintaining a cheery attitude and also following protocol so props to them!
Overall, Brick Lane is great for their waffles and I look forward to seeing what else they can offer in the future! I would definitely return on a weekday however so its abit more peaceful!
M. S. M. O.
Lovely industrial minimalist atmosphere with ample room for a group catch-up. Their coffees and brunch menu are really delicious as well.
J. C.
The chilli scrambled eggs was really nice and had good heat, but that can overpower the palate and spillover into dessert. Great ambience, lots of space, and very friendly and helpful staff!
A. R.
With loads of cafes understaffed and a bit of a mixed bag with food, this place is cozy, staff are super attentive and food is excellent. Really impressed.
M. S.
Nice , cosy place with a good brunch menu and true to Melbournian style hidden in a beautiful lane. Easy to recommend.
J. Q.
Nice little place that isn’t overly busy. The service was great and the food was also very good. Prices were good too. Would come again :)
M. Y.
Good coffee and delicious food. Service can be a bit slow but it's worth the wait. I had the chilli scrambled eggs and my friend had the corn fritter waffles and we both loved or breaky
E. K.
Secluded hispter-feel brunch place serving coffee and brunch dishes until the afternoon. The food is pretty good although nothing really unique or stands out. Can get very busy on the weekend so expect queue.
Food - 7
Service - 7
Vibe - 7

Very good food and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. So glad to got a table despite the post lockdown crowd.
A. C.
Great coffee and food. I had the chilli scrambled eggs and left very satisfied.
M. P.
It was my first time to this place. I went for a breakfast with my work mates. We wanted to have a quick meeting so we decided to have it over a coffee and brekky. It was impromptu decision to pick this place randomly on the recommendation of one of my colleague. This place is located in a narrow lane in CBD but it has a good ambience. It is definitely one of the busiest cafe and I can understand why. Most certainly for the coffee and the food. I ordered mushroom medley. Being a vegetarian I don’t get many options but this place is a heaven for vegetarians. Has few options for vegetarians and they are creative with menu. It’s not a regular menu. Totally loved the food. It was absolutely delicious. Would most definitely recommend this place if you want to experience good vegetarian options for breakfast.
G. M.
Located in a quiet street. The place looks old school and cozy. The place has ample tables and the staff members are very curious.
The menu selection is good and they have good coffee selections.
Y. L.
excellent service. food is delicious. plus the bathroom is very clean wish cool decorate.
H. B.
Nice brunch place in the city. Great location close to Melbourne Central, just off La Trobe Street. Be prepared to queue, we waited around 20 minutes for a table for 5, and were eventually seated at a bar area. I had the sweet waffles which were yummy, but I was disappointed by the apple and ginger juice which was overpriced and not that tasty. Prices were average for brunch spots, which each main around $20. Overall, would recommend.
J.
Glad we found this little gem tucked away for the family to have lunch.
Excellent service and great quick bite and coffee.
Recommend!
D. M.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Easy to get a table on a Saturday morning, although it was very busy by 9am.
Food came out very quickly and was fantastic quality.
Coffee is some of the best we have had.
K. L.
Spacious and nicely decorated cafe tucked away in one of Melbourne’s many laneways. Food is great! Love the high tables and chairs. Perfect for solo diners like myself.
S. B.
Very busy and popular Cafe.
Good menu options, delicious food, very friendly staff, great location. Would definitely eat here again - highly recommend!
L. M.
Went to the Brick Lane for brunch with the family and was not disappointed.
The owner served us and was extremely friendly and got our food to us speedily.
The Baba Ganoush I ordered was extremely flavoursome, served on the freshest bread with perfectly flawlessly poached eggs.
The Brick Lane is hands down my new go-to brunch joint and it should be yours too.
M. L.
Great coffee. Excellent breakfast. The line up of croissants looked amazing but not enough time on this visit. Got there as doors opened at 7am for a quick breakfast. Breakfast rolls looked amazing. Will come back.
S. H.
I enjoy great food, genuine service and a good look setting. Busy but they had time for us. Just look at the freshness and creative use of ingredients
A. B.
Friendly staff, very professional. We came in right on the close of lunch... but they asked the kitchen guys to prep us up some food. I had a chilli chicken sandwich on sourdough which was served with a potato salad side. The Coke was served from a glass bottle with very nice glassware and ice, nice attention to detail. The place is pretty funky down in the back lanes and worth the visit
B. C.
Had the eggs Ben with cured trout and pulled pork burger. Honestly the eggs Ben was really meh, the trout didn't taste very cured and the rest of the dish went through my mouth without impact. Why do you guys have the radish/coriander on the eggs Ben? The taste is weird and doesn't complement the rest of the dish.
Had a magic too which was okay but didn't blow me away.
The pulled pork tasted good and wouldn't be a regret ordering it.
Waffles with chili thing turned out okay too!
S. H.
Delicious food and coffee. Lots of veggie and vegan options. I had the grain salad with mushrooms 👍🏼👍🏼
B. W.
Very cute cafe with incredibly friendly staff, great service and excellent food! Highly recommended.
A.
Decent food and friendly staff. Do expect a long queue during the weekend.
D. L.
Pretty little location. Great service. Ordered their eggs benedict with pork. Nice portion but was slightly disappointed as one of the eggs was slightly overcooked.
S. H.
Cute little Cafe in Melbourne's CBD.. tried their egg benedict and the sweet waffles..they were perfect ... amazing service and super friendly staff.. you will need to book a table before going (because of Covid-19)
M. N.
Ordered the Eggs Benedict and Chai latte, the drink and food were great except that the eggs were abit overdone for an "eggs benedict" but overall experience and atmosphere was good.
L. L.
Melbourne is full of great brunch spots and this is definitely one of them. I went with a group of four, all of us had something different to eat and all of us were 100% satisfied. Can definitely recommend this place and would happily go back.
L. T.
Great food, disappointed with the service. Sat at my table for 1 hour, plates were never cleared. Cafe wasn't busy. Would've ordered another coffee if they'd asked.
J. Z. T.
Was craving for egg benedict and it’s satisfied when my friend found this gem! it was the perfect breakfast for our last day in Melbourne. I reckon this is a good place to have a private work conversation seeing that the table beside us were doing so. Quaint, homey and wholesome food. Recommend to try if around the area.
A. S.
One of the best brunch I have had in Melbourne so far. Chilli scrambled eggs were delicious, and that you don’t get much of chilli elsewhere in Melbourne. Note that you may get tired of the taste as there are no other items on the plate except the eggs and sourdough bread. Also ordered the pulled pork burger, tasted fairly reasonable and the portions were very generous. The table beside me ordered 2 portions of that! Came and queued for a few minutes at around 1pm on Sunday. Would come back again for sure:)
A. Z.
Presentation is great and good portion. Pulled pork, way too salty that is not enjoyable at all. Smash avo was good but the pumpkin seeds sprinkled on top had an unpleasant taste. Service is very average. Price is reasonable.
P. S.
Well presented breakfast ( both the look and the taste), smooth coffee.. the only downside is that the ventilation in the cafe is not that well, I could smell so much oil in the dining area and it irritates my throat. and your clothes smell a bit when you come out.
M. M.
Beautiful brunch with a great atmosphere and friendly service!! Highly recommend!!
D. N.
Best coffee during my Melbourne trip.
Best Reuben sandwich Ive ever had in my life!!!! A MUST TRY!
Also had the lobster tail and eggs. Had some black bread but would have probably preferred Turkish bread instead.
The spice was very balanced.
Coffee: 5/5
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 5/5
T. T.
Lovely coffee, good food, great bread! All the dough and buns are really good. Very good service too, this place is some exemplary cafe in Melbourne
B. M.
Nice brunch cafe in hidden spot.
Very reasonable price and good mood.
Staffs were kind.
Food was delicious!
R. A.
Good coffee, food, service!! I have been here many times since 2016.
My favourite order is the baba ganoush and halloumi dish.
S. S.
A nice & sound place to have your breakfast in the heart of CBD, Melbourne. Light music will add extra taste on your first sip of coffee in the morning. I must say their barista people have some magic on their hand which makes their coffee so good with a unique selection of breakfast menu.
S. L.
Had the cayenne chicken sandwich. Bread is fresh and good but i prefer less mayo in my sandwich and more pickled onions to balance the heaviness of the meat, cheese and avocado. Mocha could be stronger and hotter.
D. M.
A really lovely part of the experience of this venue is walking up the laneway toward it. There are a handful of niche and funky cafes dotted around and something you don't see in any other city. The scrambled eggs were so fluffy and filling with just the right amount of chilli. Great service and lovely coffee
i. i.
Great coffee and food! If you're looking for all corn related food, they've got a bloody delicious spicy corn waffles!
A. A. D.
Very nice cafe, food was great!! I asked them to replace something with another in a meal that I chose from the menu , and they were happy and friendly to replace it. Portion as you can see is just on point! Will definitely come back again! I like how it’s cafe’s interior design looks, very simple and classic.
L. D. C.
Lovely hidden place. Coffee is good. Food is good. Service is good. Good day today... Awesome! Eggs Benedict on sour dough with pulled pork is amazhhiinngg!
A. E.
Delicious food and large servings! Had the good ol' faithful smashed Avo and the flavours were well balanced and delicious! The scrambled eggs were beautiful too! Fluffy and packed full of flavour only professionals can manage ♡
J. L.
A popular cafe tucked away in Guilford Lane, this place seems to be busy all hours of the day. Today's special was gin cured ocean trout, smashed peas, lemon and caper yoghurt, snow pea tendrills with poached eggs on sourdough. Too interesting to go past!
The trout was magnificent, the "yoghurt" was chunky and tart on its own but harmonised well with all the other ingredients. The eggs were perfectly poached with the yolks bursting in my mouth. This was a really good experiment.
Modern, functional decor in a converted warehouse feel. Service was perfunctory but complete. Fancy something later? Choose from one of the artisan breads or pastries to take with you at the register.
L.
I want to have salad or sandwich. But it’s only from 11am. So i could have had only soy latte. But it’s ok because the coffee was very good.
J. C.
Hidden away on an unassuming lane, this cafe provides what Melbourne prides itself in its brunch culture. This establishment houses a rustic and quaint atmosphere, serving up single origin coffees and a variety of brunch delights. The Eggs Benedict was decked with a Tabasco hollandaise that provided rich vibrancy in an otherwise standard brunch sauce, served with a side of fennel & red radish salad that provided both freshness and acidity to cut the richness of the dish. Served on a pumpkin sour dough from Rustica, this dish comes with either pulled pork or gin dill cured trout, with the latter providing a much better flavour thanks to the herbaceous cure with the plump and moist oily trout.
S. E.
Best cafe in Melbourne great atmosphere and food.
Coffee beautiful to.
邓.
Awesome coffee & even better beautiful breakfast!!
P. W.
Busy, warm and fast service. Chili and corn waffles were amazing!
K. T.
Delicious food!! Staff are very friendly and helped cater my meal to be vegan. Was a line but it moved very quickly
M. F.
From the staff to the food, coffee and drinks could not fault anything!
The staff were very warm and welcoming. I went on a busy Sunday morning along with my 2 kids in 2 prams, the staff managed to accommodate us all and offered me a high chair too.
Food was amazing! Quite filling portions! The coffee was very smooth and brewed to perfection.
The watermelon juice was fresh and was refreshing on a 25°C Melbourne weather.
Would totally recommend this place and definitely going back with my friends!

Brick Lane really does have what you knead! Super groovy vibe, friendly staff, amazing service and mouth watering food! So happy with all the vegan options too 😍
Will be back!!
C. M.
Great place with a pleasant vibe and energy tucked away in a less traveled laneway. Service was quick and the Eggs Benedict with Pulled Pork was absolutely delicious.
g. a.
Food was good but nothing to rave about. Th poached eggs were cooked perfectly and was soft ans when cut open the yolk oozes out. Cant really taste much of the white truffle oil although when first placed in front i did smell a hint of it.
M. M.
Nice decor and great food, especially Rustica sourdough!!
Coffee by Rumble roasters was also delisious!!
Wonderful!!
E. C.
Really nice kind people, delicious quality food and epic coffee! So happy this is my local.
S. R.
I love when I accidentally stumble onto something special. Brick Lane Cafe served me a great breakfast with fast and attentive service. The baba ganoush, haloumi, poached eggs, tomato and soy and linseed toast was delicious. Each item was fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. Compliments to the chef.
T. C.
Great place for brunch. The smashed avocado is one of my favourites in Melbourne. Not all smashed avo is created equal. The beetroot relish and onion sides take this dish up a notch and is simply delicious. The chilli scrambled egg is delicious and spicy. The bread here is great too! Highly recommend!
V. P. M.
Great Vibes. Good coffee and food. Definitely top notch local Melbourne Cafe.
M. T.
Best eggs on toast I’ve ever had in my life. Great sourdough (which you can buy a loaf of, by the way) and interesting spices used in the eggs (we tried the plain/not chilli eggs). Service was fast and the staff were super friendly, helpful and accommodating! Thank you for a great experience. I will definitely be back next time in Melbourne :)
J. T. (. S.
Cosy and stylish cafe down in one of the best little alley of Melbourne.
Fantastic environment and food that makes catch up with old friends even better.
C. G.
Brilliant, this place is the perfect Melbourne Laneway Cafe for locals, business people and tourists alike and staff and management most professional, and friendly.
C. H.
Great food, friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
L. A.
Everything was incredible, definitely recommend

Today on our day out to the city we decided on brunch in the Brick Lane café.
We received a very welcoming greetings on arrival.
The place has a good vibe and energetic staff. Egg Benedict with salmon and mushrooms was very tasty and the coffee was fantastic. The service was great and we recommend this place to chill out. Next time we are in the city we'll have a coffee and chat again.
J. B.
One of my favourite brunch spots in Melbourne. Great food, service and coffee.
A. P.
The place is not too fancy but thr food and drinks are good. Would definitely visit again.
P. S.
I love the breakfast salad though... good to be here!
C. W.
Good food and excellent service. Never disappointed with the food here. Can get quite busy during the weekends especially during peak hours.
H. V.
Absolutely love this cafe. Amazing food, amazing coffee and super friendly staff. Awesome vibes & music. Will come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
M. b. H.
It is just a no brainer, these guys are the beez neez when it comes to breakfast and coffee.
We got here on around 1ish and we had to wait around 10 minutes to be able to get a table as the place was buzzing. Once seated, we ordered a cold brew and an espresso (both from Rumble Coffee). Coffee was top notch ☕☕☕
The manager and his staff here are absolutely legends and looked after us superbly. Impeccable service 😊😊😊
We ordered their Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict 🍳🍳🍳and the Asparagus & Peas Poached Egg (recommended by Drew the manager). Both dishes arrived quickly, beautifully plated and full of food (surely not shy in their serving sizes). The pulled pork was to die for and the asparagus were bang on. Flavour, texture and taste: nothing was missing 😍😍😍
Houston we got a problem: Rustica Canteen gets very addictive. Brunch benchmark hard to beat.
M. E.
Came here with my girlfriend for a vegan brunch and we can totally recommend.
The online menu with Mr Yum can be sorted by vegan, that's great. While we would always argue that there's no such thing as too many vegan options, there was enough for us to both find something we were happy with. The mixed mushroom medley and the spiced sweet potato salad were both delicious. We only wished that there we're more kinds of mushrooms in the medley or more tofu in the salad because both were so tasty.
The vibe seated outside is great, the staff were great, I couldn't try the batch brew since they ran out? But the cold brew was solid.
Prices were what you'd expect for a bunch place but when the food is delicious I don't mind paying that at all.
Overall I would recommend and come back again.
M. A.
Friendly staff. Quick service. Delicious food
F. C.
Outstanding coffee, great food and chill-axing ambience.

huge portions, food was served quickly, friendly staff! 🤩

Until I visited this place, I thought operator 25 has the best scrambled eggs, but oh boy I was naif. This chilli scramble egg was amazing.

Very well thought and plated brunch menu and have options for all including Vegetarian and Vegan
S. D. Z.
The place is amazing in a classic Melbournes lane, the atmosphere is great and perfect place to have a coffee or catch up with friends. The food is good, although not incredibly great.
M. Y.
A bang on menu, with impeccable service.
Easily recommended, the hard part is choosing what to eat...
S. A.
Nice ambiance, plenty of tables and space, hidden away on a cute laneway lined with plants. The Japanese matcha wasn't so flavorful but the breakfast salad was delicious!
D. U.
Saturday breakfast for the win! Benedict with trout! Chilli scrambled eggs! Polite staff! Good coffee! Exclamation marks! Coffee and cutlery sculpture!
L. Y.
Got the mushroom medley. Would rate it 3.5 stars as it was average! Might try the baba ganoush next time!!
S. “. W.
I love this place. This is my new lane way in Melbourne. So many hidden gem to check out. This dessert is so so so good 😊.

Delicious food, buzzy vibe, great coffee
J. H.
Great coffee, great vibe, lovely staff. We had chilli scrambled eggs, breakfast salad and kids waffles. They were all excellent. We left feeling happy. 😁
P. W.
Good coffee, yummy food, awesome creme brulee donut! Great customer service and funky industrial laneway setting. Worth seeking out!
s. r.
Amazing cafe at this cute little bony street in the middle of tall glass buildings this one street has this old time charm. The food and the coffee is out of this world and you must try their tea collection.
J.
A very cute cafe in one of my favourite laneways! They always have great service. Good food and good coffee too!
C. T.
Keen to try the Red Chilli Scrambled Eggs on the menu. Nice for a one off though not a breakfast staple. Note they do offer Eggs Any Way as an alternative.
I like to eat my eggs 1st and eat the toast afterwards so was disappointed when the sour dough was served under the eggs. The resulting soggy toast after eating the eggs was not appetising.
The eggs themselves were a nice consistency though lacking flavour compared to experience. Warning, the Chilli has a kick as intended, hotter side of mild.
The coffee was so so, 3/5 for the long black which seemed 20ml shy of a short black.
Service was nice and friendly, nothing to fault.
Side note, I asked for tomato relish with my meal, still not sure what they gave me.
C. L.
This gorgeous Cafe blew us away, a hidden gem down one of Melbourne's loveliest laneways. Great food, great coffee, great vibe and impeccable service! We will be back!
H. M.
Amazing brunch spot in a city of amazing brunch spots! We had the Slow Cooked Lamb Sandwich, Baba Ganoush with a side of Beef Brisket and a Banana/Mango Smoothie on the side. All dishes were excellent but in particular the lamb was succulent, decadent and we'll be remembering it for a while. Great coffee too!
J. Y.
Be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes for a table at this cafe.
The food was very average, but pricey.
Wait staff are nice though.
A.
Exceptional breakfast, great service, reasonable price. Chilli scrambled eggs was phenominal.
B. T.
Great coffee and great food and huge serves.
T. L.
Love the atmosphere there. Staff are attentive and so down to earth. Food is great.
A. J.
Service was absolutely lovely!!! Menu is interesting and you’re guaranteed to find something you’re craving. Food was delicious and not overpriced. When I went i paid just under $40 for a coffee, OJ and two meals. Usually I pay 45-55.
B. H.
Great food and service. The chilli waffles were 👌🏻👌🏻
K. S.
Easily one of the best cafes I have ever been to. Amazing coffee, delicious, substantial meals and a great setting.
EDIT Have come to the realisation that no other cafe can reach the lofty standards set by Brick Lane. The. Perfect. Cafe.
D. B.
Delightful service, the mixed mushrooms was magnificent, will definitely be returning
Coffee was excellent. Very popular so expect to wait for a table.
O. B.
Hidden Gem, back street location : Outstanding breakfast and superb coffee, highly recommend. Nice interior of cafe also.
R. B.
Coffee was good so I had two. Breakfast was out quick even though they were busy. Nice quiet lane to have breakfast.
S. A.
Great, coffee and staff. A little bit crowded at the weekends.
T. K.
Amazing place for breakfast! Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and extremely delicious food! Highly recommended :)
M. P.
Amazing breakfast Choices and good fresh drinks!
E. V.
Great food, great coffee and a casual atmosphere. The babaganoush with poached eggs was outstanding.
C. S.
15-20 minutes wait on a busy day but food, staff and aura was worth the wait. Must visit. Good menu, many options to try. I would recommend chicken sandwich 👌
D.
Beautiful old building. Fantastic selection of foods. Absolutely delicious.
T.
Delicious! No gimiky BS on the menu(unlike most brunch places in Melbourne) just good food and coffee! :)
(Oh also staff are lovely)
D. M.
Good coffee, great meals with fast and friendly service.
R. G.
Great hidden away laneway cafe with delicious food and drinks.
C. C.
Nice and cozy cafe. Chilli scramble egg is a must try item here.
P. G.
Delicious food with nice space. Great coffee!
H.
Eggs Benedict heaven. The chef here has thought about every component. It was perfect!! Coffee was fantastic. If you want to go somewhere that’s knows what they are doing this cafe is for you. Noisy but great atmosphere. Staff were so efficient and knew exactly what was going on. Definitely will be visiting here again.
C. S.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food! 10/10 would recommend.
R. P.
Love the waffles from this place, Usually is a great place for lunch!
m. h.
Chili scrambled eggs and waffles ... whats not to love. Even though I sent the better part of a day traversing the by-ways and lanes of Melbourne i would not have found Brick Lane without the recommendation of a local.
Turned out to be a most excellent recommendation. Great food, excellent coffee and friendly service, hard to find but well worth the effort.
C. A.
What a lovely little cafe. Great service and the food came quickly and was excellent. I will definitely come back.
M. T.
Best place for brunch ❤
E. B.
Absolutely loved this place! Service was fantastic, fast and attentive and most importantly the food and coffee was 5 star. Highly recommend
C. d. J. (.
Nice, unique little place. Sometimes hard to get a table but good coffee and great food.
J. Y.
Tastiest chili scrambled eggs ever
A. C.
Tucked away in an alley, this spot really wowed with taste and presentation. The chili scrambled eggs on sourdough was bright, spicy, and well-plated. In a city known for coffee, theirs was fine but not a standout. This was one of the best breakfasts I've tasted.
D. H.
Had a lovely breakfast here, fresh and tasty would highly recommend.
M. B.
Good little spot, nice atmosphere & service. Great coffee. A real gem.
C. S.
With a neon sign that’s hard to get in photos, the smell of baked bread and plants sprawling over the walls, The Brick Lane offers everything you want.
Be aware with the vegan option of avocado toast - it automatically comes with Mushrooms! Coffee is fantastic.
J. C.
Always feel welcome upon arrival and the service is outstanding. The food is to die for, everything on the menu is always delicious. Coffee is great always better than expect. Definitely worth the trip into town to visit this lovely cafe.
D. S.
One of the best breakfast places in Melbourne that I have visited so far...there were quite a few things which impressed me. First and foremost the ambiance and secondly the kind of options it had for vegetarian...
I ordered one for and chilli waffle with poached eggs - I was simply impressed by the plating nonetheless each element on the plate was important for taste buds too..a simple and effective breakfast option
C. S.
Great find tucked away in Melbourne central laneways. Very popular so get their before 10am on weekends. The food is amazing and serves are generous. Try the Gin cured Salmon as an add on to your order. You will not be disappointed. Warm and friendly service. Great coffee.
M. V.
My friend and I really enjoyed our brunch at Brick Lane. The waiters were lovely and efficient, food was awesome. Bricklane is located in a very cute laneway close to the cbd. Highly recommend !!
E. M.
Great spot for breakfast. The corn waffle with poached egg was a huge portion and delicious. The toast is a little spendy ($7 for two slices), but the freshly baked bread is so good you won’t care too much. Fun space with lots of seating options.

The year was 2020, I had gone through a break-up of 8 years. I was lost, I didn’t know who I was, there was a massive hole where my heart use to be. I had called it quits; I lost all hope trying to find this missing piece in my life.
Fast forward to March 13th 2021, as I stumbled unknowingly down a laneway, a laneway named Guildford, a laneway that little did I know, was going to change my life. “what’s this” I said to myself, I was intrigued, I could not pass up the opportunity to venture into this beautiful building.
As I walked in, I was greeted by an Angel named Steph sent from the heavens, I was on cloud nine, the atmosphere, a vibe, I was at the pinnacle of Melbourne Café culture. As I was seated, I took a big breath and soaked it all in, I placed my order, the chilli scramble with a side of haloumi and an almond latte. Before I could say the words “I want her back” the food had been placed in front of me, my eyes lit up like a little kid on Christmas morning, the service and food were immaculate, the coffee had given me new life, it was at this point my heart was full again, the missing piece I was long searching for had finally been found. And what was the name of this missing piece? … Brick Lane
M. K.
It was ok. the only thing made me embarrased is they start closing down their shop at 14:30, I thought shop closes on 16:00..
G.
Amazing restaurant with amazing food! Highly recommend
L. M.
Amazing place hidden away in the streets of Melbourne. Great ambience with chill vibes. Good place to catchup with friends and just chat over a delicious meal. Portion sizes were decent. Food was tasty and beautifully prepared. Price is the average of any brunch spot. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place.
F. F.
Such a fabulous café - incredibly buzzing and busy, but the service was on top of it and served us very efficiently. We had a great time and the food/coffee was marvellous: very balanced, plenty of vegetarian options and great coffee. Moreover, the area is lovely and invites to an afternoon stroll after a weekend brunch 🤩🥗☕️
T. S.
Great food. Good service. Moderately priced. Need I say more?
S. B.
Breakfast was so good, lots of treats to choose from as well.
M. F.
The service was quick and friendly with a great atmosphere in a lovely location.
The food, dear lord the food! Was incredible (savoury waffles with poached egg).
Looking around everyone else’s food looked just as tasty as well.
The coffee was deliciously smooth and flavourful and was the perfect drinking temperature.
The gf also agrees.
S. B.
I've been here several times as the food is always very flavoursome and what's more, very aesthetically pleasing; the kind you'd take photos of and put on your Instagram. I'd recommend booking in advance, as around brunch times, it can get busy. It's usually about a 20 minute wait if you don't book on busy days (weekends mainly), however definitely worth it! The menu is fairly extensive, and although it's of the upper price range of cafes, you definitely get your money's worth. The atmosphere is busy and the staff are attentive. Would recommend!
D. W.
I was really looking forward to visiting Brick Lane after reading the reviews. We were seated very quickly and then ignored. Customers that came in after us, their orders were taken and their coffees delivered before our orders were taken. After ordering our food it arrived way before our drinks order. After waiting we finally asked where our drinks were...finally had them delivered. The food was amazing but I'm a tea drinker. Why is it so hard to make a drinkable cup of tea. It was so bad I couldn't drink it. It's time tea drinkers stood up to and demanded we be heard. I can hear you coffee drinkers out there saying "So what"...but you guys wouldn't put up with it ..Why should I. I pay good money for a cup of tea..it should be drinkable.
t.
Cosy, out of the way cafe in a gorgeous plant lined laneway. Coffee and food very good, loved the eggs Benedict with Tabasco hollandaise. Yum
R. T.
Such a lovely cozy cafe. Very friendly staff and was served immediately. I had the corn and chilli waffle with smashed avocado takeaway. It was Ahhhhh-mazing!!! Will definitely come back again with some friends and have a dine in exp
P. M.
Very tasty, sometimes busy. Worth it.
S.
My friend and I go to cafes around melb to review their poached eggs on toast because we’re basic. And this is the best place we’ve ever been. Excellent coffee, great toast, good bit of avo. Happy gals.
k. a.
The bingsu is great and the place itself is perfect for casual meeting space
D. L.
Possibly one of the best coffees I’ve had in the last 5 years. Service was friendly and efficient and although I didn’t eat, my daughter had the waffles and they were exceptional! It does get super busy though, so get in a little early
J. Y.
We came here today for a long awaited catch up. We had a large-ish group so we booked ahead to make sure we could fit and not have to wait too long.
I want to thank the staff for a seamless experience, including paying, which I know can be more tricky with the current covid-19 rules and restrictions. We all had a great time, service was smooth and quick, and food and coffee were also good.
I especially enjoyed today as I haven’t seen some of my mates since the lockdown began, thanks Brick Lane for helping make this a great catch up.
A. T.
Really amazing-smooth, strong-coffee served by personable staff. great groove, atmosphere, music. Came back on consecutive mornings including a rushed visit on the day we departed because it was so worth it. Best coffee in Melbourne after much research. Breakfasts with a difference- not your typical fare, and the best salads that you'll get anywhere. this is a must go-to spot if you're visiting Melbourne.
B. C.
Had been following these guys online for some time before we visited and they did not disappoint.
Friendly and efficient service, great coffee.
Had the chilli scramble and pulled pork Benny, both were amazing.
Highly recommend you add this spot to your Melbourne foodie hit list
We will be back guys thank you 🤤
K. T.
On Sundays especially, Rustica often has a line of people waiting to get in. My friend and I decided to skip the line and order coffee and pastries takeaway, and then walk to Flagstaff gardens to enjoy the food, and it was a pretty good decision. The pastries were still as tasty as ever (definitely try one of their croissants or their Cronuts) and their coffees are also quite good too. If you choose to wait in line, their brunch options always sound delicious, and I'm partial to their sweet breakfasts.
J. N.
Been there a few times now and their veggie sandwich with artichokes is amazing. They gave me the wrong order once but made it up to me by giving me a very nice almond croissant :)
W. Y.
Really awesome brunch place in the cbd
S.
A hidden gem tucked down Guildford Lane with affordable, wholesome and tasty breakfast, baguettes, salads and mains. Get in early for a table during the lunch hour rush; notwithstanding, the service is speedy if not overly-friendly. A taste sensation, with decent serves and value for money. The coffee is probably the only thing that needs changing.
M. S.
The Caffeine drink is awesome. Can smell it once you make your first step into Brick Lane. The virtual menu have all the pictures of menu of the meal we like to try. Come early on weekend..
W. D.
Cool cafe tucked away from the main roads. Good coffee and delicious banana bread. Friendly service
I.
My favourite cafe ever. So delicious. Highly recommend the baba ganoush egg meal. So good. And also great coffee. Amazing place.
T.
Would be even better if they were back on liven
A. A.
This place really deserves 5 starts. On a busy Saturday morning, we have been served very well. Food quality is superb, staff are very quick and friendly. The Place is nicely decorated. I highly recommend it
S. C.
We are visiting from Hawaii & are so happy we're stumbled onto this little gem. We met Lindsay & Olivia, who were lovely. The food was amazing, fresh squeezed juices were delish & the coffee the best ever. We've been back twice & wil come each time we're in Melbourne! ❤❤❤
E. F.
Great food, great coffee and lovely service!!
S. B.
A hidden gem .
A beautiful cafe that is cosy and inviting.
Amazing food and coffee which is complemented by smiling faces and exceptional service .
Can’t wait to come back ☺️
R. V.
Awesome food
S. J.
I've only had coffee and croissants here, and they have been above average. Their baristas knows what they're doing and the croissants are (I believe) house made in their sibling cafe.
The staff at Rustica have never been rude in any way, but on the few times that I have visited I always get a bit of a "too cool for school" attitude from some of the staff there. That definitely won't bother some, but it always makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable. Like I'm back in high school and, once again, not from the cool crowd. Don't mind me, maybe I have a bit of a complex about this!
S. K.
@ Lunch Time - Trendy cafe where you want to be seen. Fun staff, pumped up ambient music and lots of energy in the place. Quick service, good cafe style food and amazing coffee. I keep coming back as the coffee is really good. Good place for a casual chat, friends to meet up and/or hang out. Well located on Swan street, close to Richmond station. My Local when I am at work.
J. N.
Food and service were both fantastic. I'm pregnant and forgot to ask if there were raw eggs in the aioili until the food came out. They took away the plate and happily replaced my sandwich with one without the aioili, free of charge even though it was completely my fault! Would definitely come back and recommend to others.
A. A.
Good food and coffee. A hidden alley way gem. It's now known as brick Lane.
Been going there for the breakfast and it's really good! The chili scramble is great. The simple eggs on toast is also really good!
F. H.
Went in this morning for a special breakfast. Was not disappointed. Staff have a high level of customer service, assisted with seating us moving tables and chairs to our accommodate our double pram. This was an amazing start as this kind of chilvery is generally unheard of in Melbourne these days.
Table service was fast and efficient. Food delicious, the pastries are divine! We shared a rose, berry crossant as well as a breakfast board which had a great balance of acidity, creaminess and crunch of the avocado, poached egg and olive sourdough (they make all their breads and it's very noticeable #scrumptious) with tomatoes. The bircher too was great creamy and crunchy with grated apple for sweetness. Fabulous goodbye to Melbourne.
The only con, would be the coffee is not strong enough in a latte. However mine was black which was fine.
J. 1.
A cold blustery Saturday morning in Melbourne, at first we were welcomed by the loveliest girl who said "welcome to the warm"
We had two excellent coffees to start us off, then came two beautiful breakfasts that were presented so well, I never order eggs benedict but I'm glad I did with the pulled pork and a nice little dusting of cayenne pepper, everyone works so well in this place it's a pleasure to observe, two more coffees but no room for a cake, next time.
This place has one of the nicest Lanes in Melbourne, plants everywhere and the odd piece of graffiti just for good measure.
Brick Lane itself is a fine example of using an old space with everything done in very good taste, also a good sized toilet for a wheelchair.
Can't say enough about this place, travel a little bit further out of the busy city centre and enjoy this place like we did.
Five stars!
J. B.
An INCREDIBLY friendly staff, did not keep us waiting to take our order and the food came out swiftly which to my surprise, did not effect the quality of the food itself at all, it was great! Highly recommend for a meal or coffee
C. X. M.
Great food, great atmosphere and great coffee
E. K.
Found this hidden gem via a google search of cafes where you could work or study. It is situated down a really cute alley with lots of plants and flowers. The service inside is incredible and the food and coffee was amazing. Could not fault!!!! Would recommend to everyone!
l. m.
Amazing food, coffee and service!
M.
First time I visited this place was 3 years ago. Love to stop in to this little hideaway when in Melbourne. Amazing coffee, lovely staff, clean and always consistent. Must try the amazing dessert selection.
H. S.
Love Rustica in general and the food and coffee here is great. Unfortunately it took over 1hr to get a table for our group of 5. Other groups got a table even though they arrived later than us. But besides that the service was good.
M. T.
Cosy cafe tucked away from the busy streets of Melbourne. Awesome coffee and great food with lots of vegetarian and vegan options 👍🏾
G. L.
Best smashed avo and egg in Melbourne by a mile. Surprised by the negative service reviews here, I go about once a month and always have a great experience. The food is a little more expensive than your average but the portions are big and the dishes very tasty and well cooked, you get what you pay for. Every time I try somewhere else I end up disappointed I didn't just come back here...
V. M.
Stopped in for a quick breakfast and their porridge special blew me away!
S. R.
lovely food, good portions
S. R.
For a CBD cafe, Brick Lane is a haven to underwhelming and generic outfits otherwise throughout the city. This place has great warmth and personality with menu offerings sure to please everyone.
N. M.
Food was incredible, coffee was delicious and the service was exceptional. Definitely my new favorite place in town!
Note: Portions are going to be massive, and it's not the cheapest eat (expect to pay $14 for a meal).
S. “. f. m. p. S.
Possibly the best coffee in Melbourne. One of the best and strongest batch brews I have ever tried.
C. M.
One of the best places to go for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Great atmosphere and menu. Staff are friendly and professional. Everything on the menu is a taste sensation.
J. (.
Came in for hot drinks on a cold day. Found this place hiding out like all good places in Melbourne. Environment was good for a quiet social gathering and plenty of people working away there as well.
S. C.
Expensive ish but worth it. Really delicious and good portion size and not too busy
T. B.
I consider myself to be a bit of a bircher muesli expert and these guys serve up the best lve ever had! I really want to try their other dishes which look so awesome but l just can’t go past their amazing bircher - every time 😍👍🏼💕 l think it’s the beautiful flavours and textures with the silky, light and smooth coconut yogurt! Yes I’m addicted! The service is always super friendly and the cafe has a super cool vibe. Hidden gem in a gorgeously green Melbourne laneway setting.
J. N.
Amazing breakfast and great service. Topped off with amazing coffee. 100% recommend for a special brunch
S. S.
The egg Benedict and the wholemeal waffle are just amazing!
G. W.
Good place, food is good. But felt bit expensive compared to the other cafes in the same area. Can recommend. Staff is very friendly.
B. W.
Our favourite dsination for breakfast when in Melbourne. Always make a point of visiting this quaint cafe atleast once per visit. The coffee is exquisite, the eggs benedict and chile scrambled eggs are devine. The staff are always friendly and happy to help. Love this place.
C. B.
Great menu, very friendly staff, delicious food all round!!
M. M.
Great bread and solid selection of breakfast
A. G.
Excellent breakfast - so tasty! We had the baba ganoush, haloumi eggs and pulled pork eggs benny. A bit noisy and tables aren't super, but staff are friendly and it's a funky place.
w. z.
Great cafe/bakery in a quiet laneway. I got the Eggs Benedict which was amazing with pulled pork also the coffee here is excellent. There was a wait for a table but it was only for 10 mins and the food was worth it.
a. s.
The coffee is amazing! Food is great, quick despite the crowd and 5min wait for a table. Good friendly staff as well :-)
P. M.
tried Brick Lane Cafe for the 1st time with success! Discussed our gluten free issued and delivered a quality lunch. friendly staff with delicious food well priced. Will be back
J. S.
good ambience, good food, and good service. coffees were great!
V. A.
Food was unique and delicious! :) really enjoyed the Chilli-corn waffles and the chai latte! Staff were really friendly as well and the atmosphere was perfect for a weekend brunch :')
M. R.
Found this lovely place via a google search and all of the rave reviews are justified. The food quality is outstanding, service friendly and the atmosphere makes it a cracking place for breakfast. It's become my favourite place for breakfast in Melbourne.
R. H.
Excellent coffee, pastries, sandwiches and other gluten-y food. It's both a cafe and bakery, as they bake their bread in house and sell it by the loaf. The lamb baguette is especially great.
M. B.
Had all day breakfast at about 2pm, service was prompt and friendly. Food came out quickly and was incredibly good (eggs benny with pulled pork). Coffee was good and prices ok for Melbourne CBD.
M. L.
Nothing special to be honest. I got the waffles and smashed avocado and asked to change the poached eggs to scrambled. The eggs came on a seperate plate completely. I had to sit there integrating the eggs into the dish myself. That's why I'm out for breakfast, to eat a dish, not make my own.
G. C.
Good coffee. Beautiful Sunday breakfast! Warm cosy atmosphere, and open early enough breakfast (as against brunch). Bit busy, but as you'd expect for such a good spot.
S. A.
What was once an awesome cafe known as Rustica has now changed hands to Brick Lane and has sadly lost its edge. The service is average - being told to just sit anywhere, yelled from across the room, to staff not knowing the menu, to the blonde guy with glasses who is operating on his own planet and mumbles ever word and is sloppy with customer interaction. The vibe is dull. The food is no longer “wow”... it’s just “meh”. But on a positive note - the coffee is good and the knives are sharp.
K. 1.
Salads were nice but a little pricey.
Had the Cayenne chicken salad. It was TASTELESS. There was literally no Cayenne in the chicken.
Hip and happening place with nice vibe. Music was a little too loud.
Need to try other salads or sandwiches. Hopefully more tssty!
P. F.
Great food, fresh flavours and fantastic coffee. Service was spot on and meets the tradition Melbourne theme of walking down an unassuming Lane way only to discover a hidden gem.
J. T.
9/10
A. N.
The first restaurant I go to in Melbourne and I wasn’t disappointed! Super delicious food, aesthetically pleasing, the interior design is nice, the coffee tasted like heaven, and the staff are super friendly!
C. O.
Fabulous food, amazing coffee and very friendly and attentive staff. Such an extensive and exciting menu, had a tough time choosing what to have!!
E. H.
That mousse on top of the waffles was so good!!
B. H.
Awesome eggs benedict with trout, good customer service, chai latte could've been better value for money, chilli in the chilli eggs was rather overpowering (could do with a warning on the menu).
D. M.
Excellent food, I highly recommend it!
H. H.
Breakfast is amazing there!
S. N. B.
Never disappointed when I come here. The food isn't pretentious like you would find in so many other places (eg. any place that thinks it's necessary to insert a syringe into a doughnut...why?) and the generous portions don't leave you hungry. Definitely one of my faves.
P. B. D.
Lamb Salad is soooo good
h. L.
The coffee is amazing and food is ok,but nothing very special conpare to other cafe store.also the 🥐is very small but more expensive than others. The staff didn’t hear my request when need help otherwise pointed you go to the counter. I think a few staffs are Very pretentious with really poor service.
T. C.
Nice place tucked in back streets, enough seating to avoid long wait and a good selection of food. Add to it some good coffee and latte art skills. A good way to kick start a weekend in Melbourne
f.
Food is flavourful and yummy . Coffee was good . Customer service could be improved
G. H.
Good coffee and awesome vibes. Friendly staff and the food was delish! Would be really cool to see a vegan option on the menu. Will definately be coming back!
B. V.
Amazing coffee, breakfast and service. Such a chill vibe and friendly service! Will definitely be coming back here next time I visit Melbourne 🤩
C. H.
This is a very comfortable eatery with excelent coffee, a great assortment of delicious pastries (get in early), great bistro style meals and courteous and friendly staff that just top off the whole experience.
R. G.
Ordered just coffee. Taste and atmosphere is good!
H. S.
Don't get me wrong. It's a nice place. The food was pretty good, nothing too special (except for the potato salad, that was superb) but the whole staff was like in a bad mood, no smiles, no nice words, no "enjoy" or "have a good one". I wouldn't come back but I really wanna try those Cronuts
I. T.
Nice cafe hidden in an alleyway. Chilli scrambled eggs with bacon is really good and sourdough is crispy. Coffees good too.
A. S.
Pretty good food. Chilli scrambled eggs were yum but very spicy. Coffee was decent
J. D.
Coffee was a bit disappointing, but friendly staff, fast service and tasty food make this place a winner.
R. S.
Very creative dishes, beautiful coffee, if you are there for breakfast try their corn waffles with poached eggs (I could have that for all 3 meals in the day)
S. W.
Very very impressed. Amazing value for money. Very delicious, great service and great coffee. 100% Sam and Lauren, Adelaide
S. L.
Food was so good! The flavours are very fresh and light. Plus their coffee is great!
S. P.
Amazing! The food, coffee and service is outstanding.
Probably one of the best lunches I’ve ever had.
C. P.
Could be one of The Best burgers that's been had by me! Yuuummmmm! 🤗😍😄
N. H.
Always been my favourite. Consistently good service and food. Benedict and chili scramble here makes me not like them in any other place I try.
M. H.
Outstanding breakfast. Great coffee and brilliant staff. Cant recommend brick lane highly enough for a great brekkie
P. N.
Super cute and rustic with decent food. They did not have the bacon when I was there which was a pity but the coffees were decent and service was friendly.
R. P.
Excellent coffee and friendly service. The corn waffles are delicious and the chilli scrambled eggs pack a punch.
M.
Amazing food, service and coffee. The place has a special feel to it with windows covered in greenery and the aroma of freshly baked pastries.
D. M.
Amazing yummy food. Easily one of the best breakfasts you could get in the city. The bread is housemade, pumpkin sourdough is to die for.
K. E.
Great spot to grab some lunch. Pretty fast service with yummy sandwiches.
B. V.
Good place for breakfast. Food and coffee was awesome. It's a chill place
F. F.
Their big breakfast is amazing, esp the turkish sausage....
J. A.
Great smashed avo and eggs. Really busy and not enough guys to serve but if you're prepared to wait it's great. Excellent coffee too!
J. C.
The most amazing food ever. From the egg benedict's hollandaise to the pulled pork and salad. The perfect combination of taste, coupled with a refreshing ice coffee
A. R.
It's really amazing
R. M.
Fantastic eggs benedict. Pulled pork a nice twist. Cured trout dish also great. Nice bread and good serving sizes.

Excellent, quaint little cafe spot in the side streets of Melbourne's CBD. Food was delicious and the coffees warm but a little pricey.

The cafe can get busy during peak hours or over the weekend however their pastries are worth the wait. The only thing is their staff service level and/or friendliness could improve.

Only been here once, coffee was awesome, food was awesome however, much like its sister cafe Rustica - so loud I really struggled to hear my dining companions
R. Y.
