Beautiful place to stop on your road trip to Philip island. I didn’t take a tour but it looked tempting. I sat for a piece of hash brown a smoothie instead and loved the chilled environment and the views. I bought some amazing cheese and some other stuff too and they didn’t disappoint!

What a Great experience! Where to start, upon arrival you are greeted with Jersey cows in the fields surrounding the restaurant. If you are in need of a good wholesome meal or if you've got time to explore this is a great family friendly place to definitely add to the bucket list. They have tractor tours (the Safari life meets the farm) where you can enter exclusive areas of the farm, calf's and Jersey cows you are face to face with. They have a great menu that will please even the most pickiest eaters, they source their own dairy from their beautiful Jersey cows, during the week you can watch through the large glass windows as the men and women in science suits are creating and making delicious dairy products. At 2:30pm you can enter the towers to overlook the 350 cows getting milked. They also have a grand playground, over looking the duck pond, surrounded by a beautiful walk with rabbits, goats, bulls, roosters, deer and chickens. The grounds are wheel chair friendly which is a big plus, the staff are friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. The food is made fresh and you won't be waiting long after ordered to tuck in to some five star meals. There is delicious take home items for purchase, well priced and delicious to cater to every occasion. I have been back not just once or twice it's now my go to for catch ups with family and friends, taking clients (work in Disability) and everyone loves this special spot. You just don't want to leave but they welcome you back each and every time truly doesn't disappoint.

An interesting place we have passed many times. This time we travelled about 35km just to go there for coffee with scones, jam and cream.
Not disappointed. It was excellent although personally i would like the cream to be whipped a bit thicker.
A number of flies in the dining area also which was annoying otherwise i would give 5 stars.
We walked around to see the various animals outside which is great for kids.
A. A.
Great place to bring the kids for a day out. Good food options and open spaces for the kids to play. The cattle milking observation platform is awesome for kids to learn about how cows are milked. There are also farm animals, a playground and lots of space. Their gourmet ice creams are a hit except for the rum-n-raisin, which somewhat oddly tasted like ginger.
S. K.
Found the place on our way to wilsonprom and we just drove it looking at the display of huge cow, which was funny. They’ve got tours to see the milking of cow and pet the farm animals. We didn’t have time to go on tours but saw the deer, alpacas and other tiny farm animals. It’s a free entry and good place to stop by if you are travelling with kids. Tried the coffee from the farm cafe but it wasn’t good and the dairy products are bit expensive compared to the ones we get in the cities.

Caldermeade Farm dastardly perfect slot for a break on the way to the Bass Coast. I was served the best home made scones that I hade had in years. Along with jam and fresh cream, I was transported back to my grandmother's kitchen.
The two year old loved the farm. I think the goats were overfed that day, not that I heard them complaining! And the tractors got a workout from the toddlers running wild in the park. The giant cow was a hit as were the various species of birds and four legged creatures around the farm.
On our way out, we my have picked up one of two bottles of Victorian wine, maybe some local cheese, and just maybe some awesome chocolate to enjoy during our holiday.
Can't wait to visit Caldermede again.

I highly recommend this place for an amazing breakfast.
I knew about the brand and the quality but never got a chance to know more about them. While on my way to Phillip Island I saw the name and I decided to visit the place and it was definitely worth the visit.
Amazing food with the freshest of the ingredients in between lush green grasslands.
Not to forget the mango jam was just too good and fresh.
H. S.
Good food at a great place with a few animals and farm made produce. The brownie was delicious as was the eggs Benedict.
J. E.
Great place to visit for kids! They're cafe is exceptional and the facilities are top notch. They have animals and farm structures the kids will adore. Cow Milking on site too!
M. M.
Great place for families to see how a farm works. A great petting area. The dining experience was excellent 👌.
B. A.
A good farm for a day out, especially for kids. There is a playground, cafe, restaurant, and trip for showing cows. No fees for entering the farm.
C. W.
Been here a couple times now and they're always so friendly. The milkshakes are good, but the iced coffee was phenomenal! I absolutely love patting the goats, especially the baby goats, and my dog had the most amazing time with us. Definitely worth a visit, I'll certainly be going back again.
M. C.
Absolutely had a blast here. We weren’t planning on going, but we were enticed by the roadside signage and couldn’t resist the temptation of Devonshire tea. We were not disappointed. The scones were 10/10 even without the fresh cream and locally produced raspberry jam. The produce was so good we left with a bunch of jam (strawberry and mango!), amazing cheese and a new cheese board. Added bonus was to hang out and feed the animals. We’re two grown adults and had a great time, I can only imagine how much fun a family with small children would have. Definitely worth the stop.
J. F.
Beautiful and spacious atmosphere, delicious food with lots of variety on the menu. Lots of room for the family to play and interact with the animals, safely fenced off. And an educational opportunity to drinking a fresh milkshake whilst learning where the milk comes from through milking viewing room.
H. T. D.
Loved it. Ice creams were great. Kids fed the kids 2
A. H.
Excellent place to stop for a quick bite to eat or to just give the kids a break. Have animals the kids can feed and pat. Good restaurant with varied menu to suit most, plus good hot and cold drinks(try the milk shakes - yum.) Is dog friendly also for the fur babies. Well worth a visit
K. M.
Beautiful venue for both adults & children alike. Great Cafe facilities & also an area for events. Kids love the variety of animals and the open space to run around in.
S. D.
What a cool place to eat! Great fresh food and coffee, good service and a nice view looking over the farm animals. Went for breakfast before heading into Melbourne and would go back next time I'm in town.
E. T.
Very much a hit and miss. The scones and drinks were delicious but I would not recommend the pulled beef burger, I felt that it needed much more seasoning. The staff also seemed understaffed.
However, the petting zoo and dairy were an absolute delight. There were goats, donkeys, alpacas, deer and, of course, cows. I highly recommend this place as a family destination.
I also hope that the installation of actual bathrooms is part of their major renovations.
W. R.
A very good place to visit. My 2 year old daughter loved it. The cafe and the farm shop are really nice too. Keep up the good work
L. S.
Beautiful place. It was a brief drop by for a hot cuppa and we ordered their scones. The cream was fresh and the scones were hot and soft just the way I liked them. Bought few other goodies such as the pies, veal and cheese. The service was good especially by the young man who served us at the cashier. Keep up the good work, team definitely you will get this customer coming back for more.
A. C.
Food, playground, cows, goats, chooks, rabbits. Amazing for young and both alike

A pleasant spot for a day trip!
Came here for lunch to take a break from the city and realised it is a farm (silly me, it says it in the name!). We walked into the cafe which is a rather large open space with tables scattered around. I was keen on ordering food however there were no menus available as everyone had taken one and the staff had forgotten to put them back, so it was a bit of a wait before we got a table and got to order - this felt slightly disorganised.
It was a sunny day so sitting outside seemed like a nice option. I ordered lentil salad (I could have sworn it said lentil patties on the menu but i could be wrong) which was fresh mixed with quinoa and topped with mint yoghurt. Only thing I would’ve really liked is some more flavouring throughout the lentils as it was a bit bland after I finished the yoghurt.
After lunch we decided to get a vanilla thick-shake and look at the museum. The thick-shake is made with their in-house ice cream from Caldermeade milk and it was delicious. The museum was interesting - I actually learnt a lot about milk and you get to see the cows getting milked too, as well as other animals on the farm
A. D.
Fantastic farm with cafe, get up close to the farm animals and watch the cows being milked.
S. S.
Complete Australian countryside experience. We can get to see goats, cows, rabbits and horses in this farm. There is a playing area for kids. The food was delicious and authentic. We ordered English breakfast and it was amazing. Service was excellent. We were going to Philip island and this is a best stop to have some food and farm experience.
N. M.
Nice place. Kids got a chance to pet farm animals. Their cafe is renovated. Menu is good with reasonable pricing. They got dine in options(bookings required). We can buy milk and few other products.
t. l.
Love their jersey milk gelato 🍨
A. P.
We loved our lunch and farm tour at Caldermeade today! Delicious food and wine at the cafe, and such fun having Lisa on our tractor tour around the beautiful (and SUSTAINABLE) dairy farm!
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality, which made my birthday lunch with my sister so special and enjoyable. Highly recommend!
G. B. L.
Nice place to stop for . The Food is really great and yummy but a bit expensive despite everything is from the Farm . We didn't like the fact that we were charged 3 Meals when we ordered 2 Meals and had to ask for refund and were charged 0.50$ additional for the Coffee . Apart that the Staff is great and lovely. Worth the visit ... but don't forget to verify your Bill
A. A.
A very beautiful cafe we spotted on our drive from Melbourne to the Philip Island. The area outside is green and well-maintained. You can find some farm animals in the vicinity and also spot an old Tractor placed outside. Parking space is there for the visitors.
Coming to the point, the food was very fresh and delicious. We had breakfast and got completely spellbound by the quick and decent service.
You can also take a look of the Farm at the back of the Cafe area, and find dairy cows producing milk.
If you’re around then do stop by and have some great food. Do check their timings before planning a visit.
W. M.
Really lovely farm. Open space, free to wander around to see the animals. Small play area for kids and a few stationary tractors around for kids to explore. The food at the cafe was okay, not blown away by the quality of the food. However if you visit on a hot day, highly recommend finishing the day off with their icecream! Soo creamy and delicious!
R.
Best pit stop I'VE EVER had on a road trip.
We arrived just in time to see the milking of the cows (2.30pm it starts) It's a great way to see a small glimpse of how a dairy farm operates.
There is also a little farm with goats, donkeys, chickens and great photo ops with tractor and the giant cow statue.
We also made a stop in the cafe and had scones, coffee and a milkshake. Scones were yummy and milkshakes are on point, however there coffee in my opinion is disappointing.
K. L.
Absolutely love this spot! Beautifully renovated since we last visited & their produce is incredible. Perfect little day trip & so much for kids to do & space for them to run around. The cow milking at 2.30pm is great, as well as the other animals.
S. W.
Some of the best iced/choc coffees, milkshakes and cakes made from their own fresh milk. Watch the cows get milked twice daily on the giant moo-rry-goround. Beautiful grounds and recently upgraded substantially, this place makes for an enjoyable afternoon with the family.
G. B.
An incredible Devonshire tea with incredibly friendly personable staff.
There is also a fantastic shop with a vast array of dairy and non-dairy products.
Overall would definitely recommend as a stop on the way to and from Phillip Island!
(A side note, the entire cafe, shop and viewing areas were spotlessly clean!)
B. S.
Nice place to stop by specially if you are travelling with young kids. There are variety of farm animals and their young ones that you can observe and pet. There is also a viewing platform to see cows getting milked twice a day. The milking sessions starts at 5:30AM and 2:30PM each day and lasts for 2 hours. The cafe has a decent selection of food and the staff are very friendly. Occasionally, there are also fresh produce available for purchase. Overall a nice place to stop by if you have an hour or two to spare. The best part! Entry, parking, petting, viewing the cows getting milked are all free.
J. P.
Edit; we came here 5 months ago and it was a great experience see review below, however this recent visit we experienced very average customer service and they were not accommodating with us having a dog with us. Food was still lovely however so at least we had a good feed. (June 2019)
Jan 2019:
An adorable cafe located on a farm along the main road. A great place to stop for a rest stop along your journey. Kids can interact with the goats and chicken and pose for pictures at various points outside. Sit inside or outside the cafe and experience good service and quality food.
C. R.
Meals were prompt and delicious. Staff friendly. Had lovely breakfast of pancakes.Kids loved the animals and playground
L. J.
What a great place to visit.
They are doing BIG renovations at the moment. When it's completed it will be fantastic!
Always enjoyable to spend time with animals.
We had lunch at the Cafe and the food was delicious.
K. N.
Really good family experience. Wide open fields for kids to play and interact with animals. Just keep in mind that you are on a farm.... There are lots of flies
E. K.
Creamiest milkshake Ive ever had in my life asso bought some delicious cheese and preserves. Very cool to watch the cows being milked too. Wish I had of had time for a tour
G. H.
Just had a Caldemeade Steak and Mushroom pie, the best Steak and Mushroom I’ve had in my 72 years of eating pies. It’s up there with the Richmond Bakery (Tas.) Curried Scallop pie. G
L. B.
Great outing for kids aged 2-10 on a sunny day. Cafe is good, play ground is aimed at 3 years plus, baby animals can be seen up close but it’s not a ‘petting zoo’ so the animals’ welfare is respected.
The milking at 2:30pm daily is a commercial rotary milking operation, not an old fashioned stool and bucket type of thing, but worth watching all the same.
C. F.
We went to caldemeade farm last weekend. A delightful trip to a lovely, family friendly place. Lots of animals for the kids to see and enjoy. The food was delicious and the milk shakes on point!
While i was there, I dropped my phone in to a built in bench seat by the water. There was no access point to get it out. Charlie and Lynn went above and beyond half digging up the garden bed and disassembling the seat to get my phone out! The customer service was incredible. I am so appreciative to have all the baby photos i would have lost otherwise!
Thanks so so much guys!
Can't recommend a trip here enough!

I brought my wife and family here first thing on Sunday morning at 9am for mother's day and it was amazing great staff great farm feel to it .
Understandably you do get flies because you are on are on a farm and you may have to wait because they are operating out of a small kitchen and are very very busy. But they are doing the best they can and it was perfect for us and my wife for mother's day.
We are a family of six and we ordered quite big and absolutely smashed every single part of our delicious meals. Not to mention the coffee was great also.
So many things to look at on the shelves or on the countertop all to support the local businesses or retirees. We bought quite a few things from teddy's to jewelry to jams even some of the organic soaps and scrubs which had goats milk and manuka honey in it which i have never seen before. We like to help support the community and the locals everywhere we go as a token of appreciation as we can say thank you to everyone for our wonderful experience.
Before leaving there is food at the counter to feed the farm animals outside and such lovely scenery for great photos we took some amazing pictures .
You will see donkey's, ponies, a variety of chickens, very funny goats, Guinea pigs, calves, pigs
But out the very back towards the east side you will see acres and acres and somewhere there you will see all the cows congregated together chewing grass waiting for 2.30 pm for the milking process.
Now that was quite an amazing experience to view
I read that there is two milking sessions one at 5.30 am and the other at 2.30pm both of which go through 400 cows in 1 hour with 10 mins on the turntable.
What i did was go over the road to warrook farm across the road and did the tour and lunch package deal and by the time that finished it was perfect timing to come back here.
Amazing process and alot history and facts to learn about while here . So many different places to view the whole process. You will definitely leave with a better understanding of what is involved and actually how much work goes into getting that milk in your fridge.
Y. P.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon by which time the cafe was closed. But we were lucky to still see cow milking and view other farm animals like sheep, goat, chooks, ducks.
Kids loved it. Ample parking and lot of space for kids to run around.
A. P.
Restaurant was full, couldn't get a table, superb icecream . Grandkids loved the animal park
S. L.
Beautiful place. Been here for many years even before renovated.
Wonderful scone and coffee.
Must try steak pie .
This time spent over $200 lunch. inc take away.
Only thing bad cultured cream was off.
Next day opened cream and jam but 2 of cream was off.
Asked refund but only refund one amount of cream.
S. G.
Haven't been here for a few years greatly improved meal was great as always more things for the kids to do had a nice day out
H. v. L.
They didn't show all the menus available at the time, as it was a bit expensive. However, being the first time it was very nice. Somewhere different.
P. C.
Wonderful place to take kids. Lacks atmosphere. Restaurant more like a Canteen.Too be fair they are still renovating. Scones Jam and Cream definitely 5 Stars.
S. W.
My daughter absolutely loved every minute as she got to interact with the farm animals. Watching the cows being milked was so exciting for the kids to see. The food was amazing but definitely need more tables inside on cold days as so busy. We will definitely be coming back again.
J. C.
Great place to stop with kids! Coffee was really weak unfortunately and just mainly tasted like milk. Scones ate super soft and the butter and cream are out of this world!
S. K.
Great place, absolutely amazing burger! Only let down was the room temperature milk shake that I was given. I thought a dairy farm would of nailed the milk shake. None the less, great day out!
P. S.
Stopped in for lunch, and had the ploughman's board, it was amazing!
The staff are absolutely lovely, the gardens are pretty, and the produce for sale is very fancy 🙂
D. N.
The milk is delicious. They offer a simple and generous big glass of icy cold milk for the token price of $1.00. Their automatically rotating milking shed is fascinating for the whole family: it offers science, engineering, psychology; and for the kids, good old fashioned poo jokes.
L. A.
Great place to stop on the way to the prom. Large range of local dairy products and pies, pasties, coffee, icecream, etc.
c. w.
Nice place to go with family and little kids, friendly staff, nice coffee and scones, free sheep feeding also a small playground. enjoy a sunny morning walk here.
A. “. F.
Very busy, excellent produce. I always stop for a tub of their yoghurt. Unfortunately staff not always very polite.
S. J.
Relaxed farm feel atmosphere, escape from harsh relativity of suburbia to another world within a quick drive. Great food produced on site, activities, animals to keep kids amused. Inside and outside lovely. Great staff and service. Wonderful day out and only for the cost of food and drinks. Will visit again and again.
B.
The cafe has more than doubled in size and capacity since our last visit a year ago!!! Lots more animals for the kids to play with and feed... Excellent food in the cafe itself.
T. K.
Stop by for a cozy meals and super shakes. Service can take a lil long - but you are in a farm! Kickback & enjoy the landscape and small chat. No entry fee, and you can mingle with the farm animals. Kids will love running around & have a play. Great place to take a break on your highway journey. It does get crowded over the weekends.
S.
Friendly staffs and nice coffee. There is a playground outside for kids. You can go upstairs and see the cows are being milked. It will be perfect pit stop when going to Philip Island Highly recommended.
y. 9.
It's good place to see how dairy farm works.its for people who had different practice like india where man power is used.its one time visit place where 30min time can be spent...It does have different breads of animals like chicken, goat etc...
H. T. Q.

A. G. M.
It's good place for brunch but we just had a coffee because of the waiting time is 1 hour.
R. H.
Interesting place and nice food, very clean facilities. Great for stop
C. C. R.
I have been here 10 years ago, back here yesterday, and the ambience was still the same. It is such a good place to relqx for a while before continuing the journey to phillip island. Having a cuppa coffee with scone or lunch devonshire pie.
This place has an indoor and outdoor seating area that provides high chairs, toilet, and parking area. It also has a playground, animal feeding area, and milking factory just next to the cafe.
Overall, I really enjoyed the delicacies here. Huge portion, decent price, provides kids meal, sell some local produces such as honey, jam, and rolades.
F. Y. B.
Milk shakes are awesome but very much over priced. I mean guys u get milk from ur own farm.. isnt it ? At least the glass should be a bit bigger. At $8 per shake and $9 for thick shake.. the size of glass is too small.. but the tastes is too good.
Full marks for friendly staff and the atmosphere. Loved the rime spent .. good for an hour atop on the way to philip Island.
S. “. K.
Great way to spend your afternoon. Good food, nice coffee. Plenty of parking and things to do for the kids
B. S.
I would have given this business Five Stars 🌟 but for three things.
This was our second visit, the first, whilst pleasant enough and the Devonshire tea was delightful, the experience was marred by the interaction with the girl who took our order. She came across as disinterested and rude, certainly not friendly or helpful. 👎
We were not going to return, but decided that they were worth a second chance.
With that in mind we set off back to the farm, this time to try a meal and their Smoothies.
The second issue was when we ordered two Smoothies (and they tasted wonderful), the downside... the size of the glass. 👎
One would expect a larger Smoothie for the price charged.
It’s all about Value for Money and the drinks failed the litmus test.
The other issue was the attitude of the lass (the same one who served me on our previous visit) who delivered our orders. She really needs to lift her game and treat Customers with more respect and courtesy. She is gruff, unsmiling and rude.👎
On the other hand the meal we ordered, 👍 the Ploughmans Lunch (at $40.00 we were a tad hesitant about ordering this, given our experience with a similar offering at the Milliwa Cheese Factory) and what a bountiful Feast was delivered. There was an abundance of meat, cheeses, bread, crackers, dip, relish, and savoury items, more than enough for two people.. Value for money, yes it was.
We also ordered two glasses of Moscato... 👍a truly delightful wine and at $10 per glass was reasonably priced.
The saving graces for this visit were the meal, the wine and the attitude of the young girl who took the order for the wine. She was a delightful young lady, polite, friendly, courteous and helpful... 👍
everything the other older girl was not.
She saved the day and turned what was shaping up to be a bad experience into a good and satisfying one.
Will we return.... most definitely.
👍Is it recommended? Yes. It is well worth the visit and staying for a meal.
Although we rated it only Four Stars 🌟it came very close to getting the top 💯% Rating
M. H.
Great place to take the family. They had goats and a baby calf, cows, a rabbit and a tractor to play on. They also had good food, a little shop, and an observation room to watch the cows being milked.
J. A.
Very nice places to visit with kids.nice foods and drinks.devonshire tea very nice. But even it's farm they don't give enough jam and cream with scones.its bit shame.Hope they can add bit more ham and cream.dont be stringy you are a farm.
W.
We like to stop here on our way to Phillip Island. If you like scones, the Devonshire tea here is well worth having.... great place to visit... recently changed hands and looks like upgrades to facilities are being planned.
K. S.
Great stop off, literally right off the road. The meat pie was delicious with a flaky crust and the employees were very friendly. Cute playground for the kiddos if the need to run off some energy. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. Free carafes of water and ample free parking. Warm and cozy atmosphere.
D. W.
Beautiful spot, well off the main road, outdoor tables, baby animals to pat, coffee, cakes, and friendly service. Highly recommend stopping here to refresh!
c. m.
Absolutely fantastic place kids 7 and 8 had a great day. Good meals but limited selection because of covid
z. a.
I just visited this farm. I liked the very friendly staff and tasty products... Great milk, ice cream, cheese, etc. Loved this place.
m. 7.
Beautiful place. Great experience. Thanks to the team who works here for such a fine & clean environment
F.
Good experience, especially with kids. There are a lot of farm animals to see, and if you time it right you can watch the cows being milked.
The Cafe has started offering some really nice foods including cheese and other dairy made on site.
Once the new addition is finished apparently you'll be able to watch them make their final products. Great for families
G. S.
Great stop for some nice food and drinks and an opportunity to stretch your legs and see the animals and even feed the goats.
Z. B.
Great farm and great place to bring young kids. Had Cows Donkeys Pigs Chickens Baby Chickens Goats Ducks Calfs Alpacas. Also had a cafe. We bought the vanilla thickshake which was awesome and the caramel choc milkshake which was also good. Plus had a playground.
G. D.
Love the upgrade/renovation... great food and the staff are wonderful...their signature branded coffee is awesome
k. r.
Very good for a visit. Nice coffee. Great food. Bring the kids and see the farm animals.
R. N.
Awesome farm cafe... lovely food options, nice little shop inside with great farm products and some cute farm animals for the kids...👍
J. P.
Fantastic food and service! Very cute animals for the children to interact with. Great place for the kids to run off some energy 👍
A. G.
Caldermeade Farm & Cafe along the Sth Gippsland Hwy is an interesting place to stop if you have kids but the food, prices and service offered in the cafe leave a lot to be desired. As well the animals and playground, the milking shed is worth a look.
K. K.
We made a quick stop on our way for lunch. The food is delicious. The size is fairly big. So you are warned. :-) A friend had a glass of milk, out of curiosity and it was delicious! Great place to take kids, there are animals and playground.
I. Z.
Great pit stop, we had amazing scones with tea!
B. B.
Food was delicious with very good service, lots of local food and stuff to buy as well which was great!
Giving 4 stars because I wasn’t too keen to see free access for kids into the barns with no staffed supervision. Although there is a sign for parents to ‘look after your own children’ you can’t monitor how the young animals are being treated unsupervised by staff, the cows were very nervous and uncomfortable with kids trying to touch them. I was lucky enough to be patient and slowly approach the cow without it being too nervous, I did not touch the cow as I could see it wasn’t too comfortable and left shortly after my photo.
S. B.
The milkshake and hot chips were delicious. The tractor tour was well worth it as we were able to get up close to the cows. The petting zoo was not as accessible as expected. The playground really needs shade sails as it was very warm. There was not much shade anywhere else except in the cafe area and under a tree.
R. M.
Food was delicious and my daughter loved the animals and playground was great after having lunch. Milkshake was a little overpriced for the size of them. Getting a wine or beer is cheaper but otherwise a great experience.
C. W.
Great spot for family lunch at the cafe. Feeding the animals through the fence was very exciting for kids.
E. E.
We have been to Caldermeade a few times and have always found it a great place to go. Last time we went, back in February, they were doing renovations which, when finished will be amazing.
We find their prices are quite reasonable and the food is very good. They cater very well for children. Baby animals to pat and cows you can watch being milked.
Would recommend this place to everyone. Such a good day out.
J. L.
5 stars for the yoghurt!
I stopped by to check out the farm as I've seen it many times passing on the freeway. Stopped on a Friday morning and it was fairly quiet. It was too windy to walk around the farm so we looked through the store. Picked up two 1kg tubs of yoghurt for $5 each which seemed like good value (cheaper than supermarket). Tried one over the weekend and it was delicious! Very creamy and thick. On the way home we swung by again to pick up another four tubs!
The return trip the place was a lot busier. Like screaming kids and tired parents. Clearly this place is a good stop off point for the family tourist heading to/from Phillip Island/The Prom. The kids seemed to be enjoying the place but honestly the petting zoo was just a few chickens, calves and goats in pens being poked by kids. The cafe was packed and the other reviews suggest the food is good but it just looked like a loud cafeteria to me.
Overall giving 5 stars for the yoghurt. Probably only worth a stop for the attractions if you have kids and need a breather.

What a beautiful place. I recently visited with my family and we had such a lovely time. My daughter was over the moon with joy being able to see, pet and feed the animals. This farm has really blossomed from when I visited over 8 years ago. And the food, I can honestly say was the best meat pie I have ever had. (I had to buy a frozen one for home it was that good). Absolutely recommended and we will be back. Thank you 👌👌😊

This farm is developing into a very family friendly attraction. Not only does the milking shed accommodate people of all ages and abilities, but the cafe, animal viewing enclosures and outside activity areas are also inclusive of ages abilities . At time of writing(Jan 2021) the complex is undergoing a major upgrade of it's facilities but still worth a visit. Cafe snacks/meals more than acceptable.
J. L.
Great place to see farm animals including alpacas and deer. Cafe food was a bit mediocre though
A. B.
My son enjoyed the area with the animals and some play area. The scones are amazing, but the food is slightly higher priced. We ordered multiple burgers and could see that the preparations were different for each with some missing some ingredients or the salad missing dressings.
I. S.
We arrived on a cold, soggy afternoon and the carpark is unpaved so it was tricky getting into the cafe without getting muddy.
Once we were there though the food was good, if a little pricey, and the cafe was warm and clean, and the service was good.
We didn't visit the dairy, so we weren't really partaking of the whole experience, but it would be interesting to bring the grandkids along sometime.
K. S.
Lovely staff and the food is excellent value. We couldn't finish the huge plowman's! Everything was perfect. Well worth the stop
S. F.
Love coming to Caldermead farm, the food and drinks were excellent of course but was a bit disappointed to find the animal nursery locked shut. My little boy was so excited to come and pay the animals and then wasn't able to. Otherwise had a great time, renovations look great!!
S. M.
New layout is ideal. Great meal. Lovely animals. Great to be back post Covid lockdown! 😃
J. W.
We stopped for coffee. A major renovation has greatly improved this complex which provides food and experiences.
A. H.
It's okay to take kids for a lunch or coffee trip. There's lots for them to do. However, I was disappointed after going there for lunch. The quality received by myself and partner definitely didn't match the price paid. I would only go back to catch up with people who had kids and I wouldn't go for lunch again.
A. F.
I had a lovely lunch of the farm pie and a beautiful hot chocolate made with Caldermeade milk. It would be a great place to take children when the weather is fine.
A. K.
Beautiful place! Scones are delicious and great service. I was so impressed with a young man who helped us when my daughter caused some trouble today. He is fantastic! I cannot thank him enough for his kindness and will definitely return to this place. Highly recommended.
V. R.
Very good cafe with wide variety of food to try... We tried the coffee with the farm fresh milk... It was good.
We tried the milk shake, which was okay type...and the ice creams, which were very good.
We watched the cow milking process in the farm, which was a unique experience. Must visit spot.
J. Y.
Nice stop during our road trip to stretch out our legs and for kids to play with the animals.
The cafe food was okay. Seating was slightly uncomfortable and it was super humid inside. They kept delivering our food to the wrong table, and delivered other people’s food to us. This was due to some miscommunication that took a while to fix.
We did buy some milk and yogurt to take home with us. Milk is really creamy and a good price too. I now sometimes pop by to buy milk if I happen to drive by.
G. D.
Cafe is well stocked with yummies and I can say that the coffee ☕ is first rate 👍
M. O. (.
Great for kids of any age or animal lovers. Real close up with nature's best.
J. C.
Great experience for my toddler viewing the cows being milked. We had lunch and ice cream here. The petting zoo was not as accessible as I imagined as the animals were kept in their fenced up areas.
A. M.
A lovely place for a light meal, including gluten free for Coeliacs, or some scones jam and cream. Beautiful gardens and various animals. Good selection of Australian made products to purchase as well. My meal today was beer battered flathead and chips. The flathead was hot and delicious but my chips were lukewarm, nearly cold, guess they were leftovers in a bainmarie...for $24 not worth it! Should have taken them back but who wants to complain!
N. W.
Fun family spot to stop on the way through. Good coffee and milk drinks like shakes and hot choccies. We had the scones but have also been for food which was classic home made fare. Lots of animals and room to run around + a playground
j. j.
It was lovely sitting outside under the verandah looking over the property whilst having our lunch. Children were running and playing happily everwhere . Lunch was fish and chips and fried salt and pepper calamar andi very delicious. With a playground, animals to look at and abundence of grassed areas surrounding a lovely fenced dam with ducks its was so relaxing with plenty of space for everyone even though it was a busy lunchtime lot of different products inside to buy and take home and gifts as well. The staff were all very helpfull and friendly .
J. F.
5 stars for the devonshire tea (the scones were so yummy) and 5 stars for the service. Great experience.
C. M.
Food and service are really good! Had the chicken schnitzel burger and the beef burger and both were tasty and juicy. Burger wasn't well done which I prefer. Great stop on the way to Phillip Island or a great day out.
E. B.
The outing was good and the kids had a lot of fun. We ordered a meal which was generous and really nice. The coffee unfortunately was a disappointment. A bit of barista training and grinder settings will go a long way.
R. “.
Great renovations that are almost complete. Looking forward to going back when the viewing area is complete. Please let me know when it is!
Side note, the chunky pie is the best pie I've probably ever had. Tasted amazing!
B. B.
Had not visited here for about 2 years or so and was amazed at the extentions being carried out. Had a very enjoyable lunch which was reasonably priced and tasty. Only quibble was the lack of cosy quaint atmosphere of the old premises and the bare and "barn like" noise in the new. Perhaps it will improve when it's finished. Still worth a visit though and good for kids, even if it's only to see where their milk really comes from!
M. N.
A stop over between Melbourne City and Philips Island. Home made cream is wonderful.
N. Y.
I always stop by on my way to Phillip Island. I was so gladly surprised to find the place renovated. The coffee is great and the burger was very good. Could do with more chips as they were very good with the impressive homemade tomato sauce.
E.
Love what they are doing with the renovations!
My 2 boys loved the animal nursery and feeding the goats. It was so nice to watch.
Was great getting to purchase the fresh produce aswell
S. G.
Ideal place to escape from our noisy life:).Such a calm and peaceful place with an awesome cafe.
C. F.
Love stopping off at this place on the way from Melbourne to Philip Island, Wilson's Prom or anything else over that direction. It's a very nice chilled out café. The tea, coffee, scones and other food is great. While you're there you can also see cows being milked (if the timing of your visit is right), goats (when I visited there were baby goats!), calves, hens, chickens, a donkey. I think the fact that this isn't just a café really breaks up the journey. I look forward to stopping off here. They're renovating at the moment, so the place gets better and better every time I visit.
B. M.
Great coffee and delicious scones - lovely and warm on a cold day
D. H.
Had an awesome lunch and stayed to watch the music with friends.
P. J.
Wow! My first visit here. They are making stunning renovations and extensions. They are also dog friendly, and are building a special area for them. The best Jersey milk.
S. C.
A stop off for coffee and scones on our way from Melbourne to The Prom. A great place to stop too if you have kids..a playground and some farm animals. Coffee was good as were the scones and other meals that came out looked very tasty too.
T. S.
Just had the best day. Thanks to Jess for tractor tour. Grandkids loved the up close encounter with the cows and calf's. Lunch was amazing.
م. ش.
Very welcoming and cooperative staff. The animal nursery was very enjoyable and my kids enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for letting us view the milking experience which many farms don’t offer at all especially during COVID-19 restrictions. The overall experience to visit your farm was very pleasant. I’ve a suggestion, if you leave a donation box for people who want to appreciate your work, that will be really good and will help in supporting your farm and the animals.
M. F.
Great place for a coffee a scone and for the kids to see animals
U. M.
No more Farm made sausage roll but the rest of the menu is still really good.
J. H.
Really really good, very interesting and informative. The staff are all lovely and helpful and the food / cafe excellent. Would totally recommend a visit .... even the animals are friendly!
R. D. Z.
So much veriaties to choose from, loved the fudge and jam
Chai lati was lovely.
S. K.
A really nice place, friendly staff and a place to learn and watch cow milking. Large outdoor area, small animal petting area, honestly a bit of everything is here. Its great
R. S.
Good food. Good ambience. Great service and kids loved it
N. A.
Lovely cafe and great place for kids. Best milkshakes
M. M.
Absolutely beautiful place. I wish there were more seats available inside because it was cold and windy outside. Or probaly some heating for the seats outside. But over all, fantastic
A. T.
I prefer the old place. It was warmer and more homely. This newly renovated one is too slick and modern. The menu is not as great as before. And the stuff up my table reservation.
D. B.
This is a great family spot. No cost to enter and see the animals. The cafe has some great options.
G. T.
Nice place to take the kids for a few hours and have a meal
A. D.
Perfect place to stop when your on you way to Phillip island stop here and have a good break very clean great work
D. B.
Great place for families and tourists. See the cows being milked, wander over to an area for the kids to play and some small animals to pet.
The food is delicious, staff are lovely and they also have a variety of old fashioned lolly jars for the sweet tooth. I think they have the best devonshire tea around too. Well worth a visit!
j. b.
This place is absolutely amazing !
Great place for the family and food is so delicious ! They also sell the most amazing ice cream I've ever had.
Staff here are super amazing and I highly recommend this place to everyone
E. L.
Not a fancy place but got to see milking process and having kids playground. Stop by when you have a chance!
S. H.
Nice day out, loved feeding the donkeys and the goat eating me. Milking was interesting and educational.
a. f.
Great place with kids. Aninals .ice cream was great
T. D.
We stopped here for coffee and got so much more. There were farm animals, yummy food and produce to purchase. Worth a stop with kids to see the animals, view and have a treat.
S. M.
Lovely and warm inside the Cafe even though it was a cold rainy day, well worth stopping in. Fantastic food the chunky meat pie was mmmmm delicious. The hamburger my daughter had was amazing. Was great to see the milking of the cows and how they do it now. Will be coming back in the summertime. Great place to take your kids especially the younger ones as they have an animal nursery to see. Playground to have fun in. A DEFINITE STOP ON YOUR JOURNEY. 👍👍👍👍😀😀😀
S. D.
Ordered a milk shake that was very ordinary in taste, especially coming from a dairy farm. My partner's shake was sickly sweet. Disappointed
M. S.
Coffee was average but the vibe of the place was worth it.
Very family friendly and had a petting zoo for kids.
S. F.
Lovely place to eat, have a drink and kids to have a play
A. C.
We've been coming to Caldermeade for many years now, and it's certainly changed during this time! It's becoming a major location now, with a huge cafe, great outdoor dining and manicured grass, playground and opportunity to get close to the animals.
I agonised over whether to give it 4 stars - but ultimately the reason you come to a cafe is for the food and service, and unfortunately Caldermeade is struggling with growing pains at the moment. They're becoming victims of their own success, with order delays and confusion and variable food quality. I hope they get through this, and I'd still recommend them for the experience, but keep your expectations under control.
k. t.
The food is expensive but the dairy farm, playground are all good
G. K.
Still building the new factory but the new Cafe is exceptional. This is the best tourist destination in the region, a perfect place to stop on the way out of Melbourne
R. F.
Friendly staff, great service. Their scones are amazing!! Great coffee too! There's also a play area outside for the kids. Do not drive by without stopping in for a quick coffee or some lunch and a glass of wine.
D. M.
We arrived late in the day and had coffee and scones. The coffee was excellent and just what we wished for. The scones, however, were disappointing. They tasted like a cake rather than soft fluffy scones and the jam, although tasty, was a little runny, like a puree, rather than a thicker fruit filled jam we are used to. We would go back for the coffee alone but may try a different treat other than the scones
A. T.
Recently renovated the dinning area is much larger but also very loud. Farm walk around is great and doesn't cost a thing.
K. S.
We stopped in on the way back from Inverloch, hoping for a quick bite to eat and LOVED it. The pie was divine & the burger and chicken baguette fabulous, the coffee was great and the staff just so lovely and accommodating. Worth a trip from Melbourne just for the pie!
S. K.
Stopped over from our trip and the food here is tasty and fresh!! Kid friendly too as you can feed farm animals and there is also a play ground.
C. d. W.
Traveling along the Sth Gippsland Highway, on our way to Yarram,we stopped here for morning coffee. There is also a shop selling farm produced goods.
Looks like a great place to take your kids for a visit.
S. N.
Fantastic place to visit for breakfast or lunch. They use their own milk in their dishes and offer great coffee.
Outside is a great playground for the kids and an animal nursery with calves, goats and chickens.
A good stop off to Gippsland or Phillip island.
K. J.
Great place to visit with the kids for a meal, snack, and watch a real live dairy farm from the viewing tower, lots of animals to pat, and interesting gardens and sculptures.
C. M.
It used to be much better...
Caldermede was a regular stopping point for us when on a trip in this part of Victoria. I think our most recent visit will be the last. The food was average at best (and flavourless or distasteful at worst).
It's a shame: basic food isn't hard to create or provide. I had dips and toast, which was almost totally lacking in flavour. The scones we shared were not fresh (microwaved is my guess) and were almost inedible.
Z. T.
We stopped in during the renovations and it's looking good. Nice food, great outdoor space for kids. Looking forward to visiting again when it's finished.
C. H.
Lovely place, perfect for Kids, space to run around, play ground, old tractors, lots of animals and goats to feed and pet. great food and delicious home made products
M. C.
The food here is very nice, had a deconstructed sovalaki with beetroot hommus. Prices were reasonable.
M. G.
Absolutely beautiful! Wish I could have stayed longer to see so much more but just means I'll have to go back 😊
Great service and beautiful fresh food.
S. S.
Had a date over there.
Found it an amazing place to roam around and have food.
Coffees are really good !
Thank you for making my day.❤
a.
Nice to see the animals outside! I liked the ducks. The scones took a while to come out but was rectified with an extra. Super happy with the visit and the service. Just wish I could have eaten the ice creams (thanks lactose intolerance)!! 😄
V. A.
Been here twice now. Absolutely love it. One can cuddle / pet the calves, sheep, chickens, etc.
Spend some quality time playing in the park and taking silly and wonderful pictures.
Cafe is also nice. Milkshake is something to die for.. didn't find better milkshake in entire Melbourne so far.
Heartily recommend this place on the way to Philip island.
B. B.
WOW❣❣What an upgrade since I wS here last. Put this on your list, especially with school hols and Easter coming up. Reno's still to be completed but is going to be amazing. Definitely put Caldermeade Farm back on the map!! CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉
H. A.
It is not a fruit farm but they have a stall and many types of fruit are sold. The cafe is a very good spot to stop by and spend some time, especially if you been on a long trip. There's a playground for kids and some animals to see. They also have cow milking sessions at 2.30pm and 5.30pm and if you are there at these times, you can watch how cows are milked.
M. V.
You can see and tap the Cows and goats in the yard. If you dare! Really enjoyable for little kids and, of course parents and other adults as well. Inside, there is a cafeteria serving lunch and snacks. They also serve their home made ice cream in several flavours. Enjoy your coffee and ice cream and go outside to feel the farm breeze.
J. M.
Good for families with opportunities to see cows and goats up close as well as play equipment. Food and coffee were good but not great. Service was above average. Plenty of parking if you have a caravan. Plenty of flies as well.
G. A.
Caldermeade Farm & Cafe is by far exceeded my expectations. The food is so fresh its mouth watering. THE HOME-MADE GELATO MADE FROM THIER OWN FRESH JERSEY MILK IS THE BEST IVE EVER HAD!!!!
The staff are exceptionally friendly, happy and helpful! The animals are well looked after and friendly to pat. Plenty of things to do for the kids! Play equipment and outdoor seating / picnic area!
I brought my whole family and we all left with full tummies.
Highly recommended! And will be back soon!
O. R.
This place was actually very nice to stop at. Definitely 1 to recommend to anyone for a quick stop over or sit back and relax for a bit. Definitely stopping in again next time we go that way
R. B.
Highly recommend this place, the cafe is set back from the road, with some cute baby animals to pet and view, a playground with climbing equipment, benches and tables around it. there is the mailing shed at the back, near the large carpark. The food is fresh and tasty, service is counter service rather than table service, but staff were friendly and helpful. We came here with 1 year old toddler who had a ball, and a dog, who was very welcome.
E. M.
Can’t recommend this joint enough. Loved every minute of our time enjoying and connecting with the farm animals. The energy you feel is so positive and fresh.
A. K.
The scones are shopping centre good court quality (over heated in the microwave) but at restaurant prices.
A. T.
Nicely kept property with a good amount of animals for children to pet. You can view the cows being milked in the afternoon. Food menu is ok, burger patties were being microwaved as were the homemade pies. Ordered a iced coffee and was given some kind of syrup and an unknown black liquid from the fridge (coffee I assume). For a cafe with a full kitchen and staff, microwaved food should not be in the menu or in plain site really. As for for the coffee syrup - there's a coffee machine and a barista - get rid of the syrup guys, it's horrible.
D. L.
Amazing food, brilliant service!
A. D.
What an experience. My family and I visited the farm and cafe. The food was fantastic! Make sure you try the scones. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learnt so much about cows and the milking process. Highly recommended!
E. M.
Me and my best friend visited Caldermeade Farm not too long ago, and really loved it. First, we went and watched the dairy cows being milked and learnt all about dairy farming. That was very insightful and fascinating to see the process where we get our milk from. Then we went and petted all the farm animals. It was accessible and family-friendly, and luckily we went on a quiet day so we weren't competing with children to play with the goats and guinea pigs etc. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I will definitely consider going back again, especially if I'm in the area.
J. S.
Great experience for kids and dog friendly. Good for stopover if you're coming back from or going to Philip island.
L. M.
We were driving on the highway when we were met with what looked like an authentic farm experience. Assuming that we'd be given fresh produce, we ordered a few smoothies which ended up looking completely different to the pictures on the board. The 'Strawberry Delight' wasn't much of a delight as it tasted more like sour strawberry yoghurt blended with some milk (which isn't acceptable for a $9 smoothie), and they had ran out of the Mixed Berry smoothie but didn't tell us this until 15 minutes after we ordered. The food that other people had ordered looked quite decent, but the prices for the drinks were well overpriced for the quality that we were met with. Luckily the staff were friendly and kind. 6/10
A. S.
OMG @ the people complaining shocked by the bill. Expecting $5 for a home made chunk steak pie. Seriously it is $19 as a meal with chips and salad. It is good and a fair price. Cant even buy a pie from footy for $5. Place has menus with pricing. You choose what you want then pay. Food gets cooked fresh and bought out to you. Place is nice and clean not run down as others have said. Playground for the kids and some animals to see. It is along side a highway and needs to make money. Pricing is fair with generous amount of food on the plate.
I have driven past hundreds of times and first stop as i type
S. G.
Nice rustic cafe, viewing platform to see the cows being milked, baby cows & goats with chickens to pat.
M. B.
A must to see great staff
D. A.
Yummy caramel slice, nice coffee. Nice to see the animals and a lovely place to stop off.
Stop here instead of the servo for a coffee
J. B.
What a fabulous place. Very friendly staff, delicious food (10 out of 10 for the Devonshire Tea) and the animals are adorable. We went early so missed the cow milking show but will defiantly be going back!
H. B.
This was our 4th visit to Caldermeade Farm and each time we had an awesome experience. Perfect spot to break the journey - great food and surrounds, including kids playground. Must try their Devonshire tea with scones. We will keep visiting.
T. G.
Great place to take the kids and have a coffee on the way to Phillip island. Lots of animals and things to see.
I had a good coffee and a decent sandwich here and I’d stop again in a pinch.
S. J.
Good place to see cows and see milking of the cow's. This farm cafe has a small play ground outside. You can see a few animals here for free , donkey, goats, cows and lama. The only fee is what you buy at the cafe if you want too. Everything else is free.
T.
A beautiful spot for a short break. If you are with kids, they will adore the experience with animals. Good coffee and food.
a. k.
Loved it scones and cream a must.
D. L.
If you want an exciting experience for the kiddies and adults, i do recommend this place, pat the farm pets, and try the freshest milk you can have. Keep it up caldermeade, my daughters say this is a must return... happy faces all around.
P. L.
Not having been here for the last 4 years, we pulled in this morning for breakfast at 11.02 am. Breakfast was off at 11.00?? (since when??). They used to do all day brekkie. Obviously new management, staff very unfriendly, burger was ok, chips plentiful(not always a good idea), tomato relish appears to be watered down, coffee lukewarm. Wouldn't stop again. Cannot recommend.
I. A.
Getting there. Still being built at the moment but the staff were great. Soon to be finished. It will be great when complete. Great viewing platform to see cows being milked
B. S.
The cafe is a bit expensive but the whole venue is free entrance so unless you buy something you can see it all free. It's great fun for the kids. If the weather is nice there is lots of running around and things to see. Go to the end of the milking shed up the stairs to the viewing gallery!
V. T.
Driven past the farm on numerous occasions but d we ci r es to have a look this time. A big expansion taking place. Food & coffee were most enjoyable.
G. E.
We had afternoon tea there and it was right on closing time. The scones were great but our kids didn't like their cakes much.
The highlight was watching the cows getting milked. Very interesting watching them go around the carousel.
K. W.
Can't tell you much this trip as it was an outdoor motorcycle event, not in the cafe itself. But I'll go back n will give you a full report then. Beautiful property with lots of lovely animals tho.
T. M.
Such a cosy, country house cafe offering Aussie brekkie, lunch, award-winning scones in Devonshire tea.
Open dairy farm offering petting zoo, cow milking view deck and dairy products directly from the farm.'
A. !.
Very nice place to visit with kids
P.
Great place to lunch.
M. A.
Great cafe! They're expanding it to sell all local produce soon. Viewing area for kids to see cows being milked.
R. T.
I bought nectarines, peaches and apricots from here at driving past and seeing the signs. Almost all the fruit had imperfections which I was OK with as it wasn't supermarket fruit, but 2 days later a lot of the fruit has mould on it and I've had to throw much of it out. What I could eat tasted great, but still, disappointing....
G. V.
Icecream soooo thick.... the best....
A. E.
Awesome place for the kids with large land with children friendly attractions. Please fix the playground. I would of given this place 5 stars but I took my family to the cow milking session at 3.30pm and after a short time my 2 children needed to use the bathroom so we headed back to the cafe but was denied bathrooms, they said because they were closed and were about to leave. I cant understand why they allow public scheduled viewing of the milking process but cannot provide toilet facilities. We had to leave as we were not from that area and had to drive some time to find a petrol station. I was lucky my kids didnt have an accident in the car whilst getting to a place that offered a bathroom to use.
A.
Really nice soup and the steak pie is soooo delicious, would 100% recommend the home made pie. Don't forget the milk shakes either! Really did not disappoint, good reviews on this listing rings true
E. W.
A beautiful place to sit at for the morning. Me and my family had scones then we went and watched the milking. The manager let us come in and have a go at milking a cow by hand. The kids loved it you should go there I would 100% go again. 😀😀😍😍🤗🤗 It was extremely cheap 🤑🤑🤑
L. B.
Such a lovely place to stop off. Great milkshakes!
The animals are so friendly and come to the fence for a pat, very gentle even with our 3.5 year old.
G. M.
Nice place to stop to give the kids a chance to stretch their legs. Lots to see in terms of a playground, baby animals area, and old tractor and tree to play on. Nice milkshakes and scones. A good stop off point
Z. A.
The dairy produce is so fresh and the food at the Cafe is amazing. Definitely worth the visit.
R. T.
Love the play ground, old tractor to play on & an old tree trunk to climb. The kids can pet the animals (chooks, goats, sheep, donkeys and a pony. There are geese and ducks too.
Amazing shakes, yummy pies and Devonshire read, ice cream (3 flavours only). The menu is more expensive than I would like but you can order within your budget.
C. D.
Enjoyed a nice coffee and scones, very generous with the scones, one serving is plenty for two people, interesting photos of overseas dignitaries on the walls.Good place for young kids as plenty of farm animals.
K. O.
This place is great for a break, meal coffee cake, animals to feed and play ground for the kids.. They have development work going on at the moment, but things are excessable and it's going to be amazing when it's finished
S. A.
Good place to enjoy farm and food with kids on some lazy weekend.
L. A.
Lovely visit. ..loved watching the milking, cows have beautiful faces.
M. H.
I had an excellent burger and chips. It seemed that everything was either hand-made, out of the garden, from the farm, or natural, except for the cheese: it was a disappointing piece of processed cheese. For that reason only: I offer 4 stars.
R. L.
A very pleasant place. Good for children. A little issue with our order was fixed without argument, so staff are most amiable.
E. M.
Lovely spot, great food, and I love a good farm, doing really well with the covid changes, but could do with a couple more staff on as they were off their feet busy.
A. I.
Love this place. Love Lena or what ever her name is. She is French and she is so lovely and so very pasionate about her job! I will bring my kids back to explore the farm with me!
D. D. F.
Make sure you take ALOT of $$$
The value for money is poor
Restaurant prices, like $18 for a pie, but basic non fancy cafe environment.
Shocked at how long to wait for seating and ordering as only one serving at the register.
The cow milking started later than advertised (3.30 started at nearly 4pm)which would have been fine if I knew the access to the toilets would shut sharply at 4pm I would have gone first instead of driving off with a full bladder becuase there are no toilet facilities outside the cafe opening hours😳
Again it's a value for money thing, I'd expected excellent facilities for the prices being charged for food.
Good side
Kids loved the roaming goats and photo opportunities
My cow mad daughter loved the calves in the animal pens.
The food was very simple but tasty
Definitely worth a thickshake or milkshake and leftovers can be taken away, if any.
The cow milking worth the gold coin donation and an eye opener into how the milk we ingest it produced. 😳
Young staff friendly
Older waitress barely cracked a smile ever and had a couldn't care attitude.
An experience to be had if you are visiting the farm only
Step into the cafe and it's not so easy on the wallet or the experience of value
M. R.
Food and service were good. However, we were looking forward to a full farmhouse style breakfast, but they stop serving that at 11am. For this style of cafe, trading on the farm premise, an all day breakfast is a must!
D. H.
Good place to stop on the way to Phillip island. Devonshire tea was great tho a bit exy. In fact, all the products were quite expensive - won't be buying any.
Having the farm animals to check out is a great idea. The baby goats were very cute! 👍
A. D.
Had really nice scones
The chicken burger was great!
Really nice for the kids with farm animals and tours
k. b.
Awesome place to visit. Food options can be increased in the cafe. Milkshakes are best.
Animals are added attraction.
C.
Lovely Devonshire tea. Friendly service. We brought beautiful cherrys the size of small plums. I do feel sorry for the baby animals in the petting zoo. They are poked and proded and are clearly terrified. Perhaps an attendant should be there to control the over zealous visitors

Amazing place to visit with kids! Just a lot to see and do! My kids love their milk and yogurt!
F. G.
It was very nice we had scones, jam and cream with a nice cup of tea. We watched the cows milking.
C. T.
We love the Jersey cow yoghurt!!!
S. M.
We took our farm animal obsessed 3 year old here and he loved it. We made sure we were there at 3:30 to watch the cow milking. Other highlights included the animal nursery, playground, yummy food at the Cafe and the grumpy geese wandering the farm.
H. T.
Came to this farm cafe by chance while on our way to Philips Island. Order our morning coffees and scones. Nice scones served to us hot and fresh from the oven. 👍🏼😋. Hot coffee, latte and scones, this made us feel particularly good at cold winter morning. ☕️😄👍🏼. Cute and funny weather forecast board. Haha
S. M.
Lovely working dairy farm, well equipped to cater for tourists. Very nice cafe/restaurant on-site, and plenty of animal & play attractions for the kids.
P. S.
Good place to take a road break and walk around a real dairy farm

I have been here before and loved it in 2015 so I was looking forward to stopping for lunch on our way back from wilsons prom and they had run out of all 3 vegetarian options. Kids had fun feeding goats and playing in the playground though. Also disappointed about 2 different types of chutney they had but no trial to see how it would taste. I didn't want to buy a whole jar just to find out, we didn't like. It also took over 45 mins to make bruscetta and chips.

Excellent get away for the weekend.
R. P.
Brilliant experience. John and his team have created a sensational concept. Everything about it was first rate.
R. C.
Nice pitstop along the way to Phillip Island. Quality food although a bit expensive with mains over $20 but it's worth it. Fun stop for the kids as well as they provide free animal feed so you can feed some small farm animals and has an outdoor playground. Also sells homemade jams and produce.
A. L.
Great milkshakes and great pies. Been driving past for years, glad we finally stopped. Kids enjoyed meeting the goats too!
F. K.
Great service by all staff, great food and lovely surrounds. A must stop on the way to Phillip Island or Inverloch.
T. K.
You should take the payed trip around the farm; its really cool. You should also try the ice cream, it was great :)
G. Y.
Great scones with fresh cream and jam. Great farm produce. Great meals. Brilliant iced chocolates. Excellent place to stop by on your way down the to the coast.
P. B.
Went here a year ago with my kids - great milkshakes and a nice open look at how a dairy farm works
R. S.
Great for lunch with the kids. Food menu could use a revamp (more variety eg. steaks, schnitzel burgers etc).
K. K.
Enjoyed Devonshire tea here. Best to do the whole experience...2.30pm watch cow milking, Devonshire tea or milkshakes in the cafe, then wander round feeding baby animals. Lots of photo props and opportunities for great photos with kids.
R. O.
Service was fast but this place is extremely overpriced. 8 dollars for a standard milkshake that could be had anywhere in Australia for half the price. I was willing to pay 8 dollars expecting that it would be something special using home made ice cream or it was a larger size, but this was milk and chocolate syrup. The rest of the food was standard nothing special.
D. M.
Absolutely awesome food and service, and local produce to take home
G. T.
Food is fairly pricey and lots of flies in the cafe. Love the roast potatoes in the grilled salmon dish though. An educational spot being able to see how cows are milked in a large scale.
s. k.
Food was average. The staff could have been friendlier. It's a good location all in all, with a playground and calves and goats which the kids enjoyed.
K. C.
Lovely tea house/cafe! Kids loved seeing the animals and milking!
G. J.
Best Brekky Ever. Awesome. Yummo.
R. I.
Scones were quite fabulous. Good stop along the way to Phillips Island. There was a petting enclosure and play ground, wonderful for the kids.
M.
Food took a bit but definitely worth the wait. Awesome soup and quiche. Cob bread that came with the soup was unreal. Great spot to stop, pet the animals and catch great country meal.
H. S.
Their shakes and scones are great. So five stars.
But on my second trip, called 30 mins prior to arriving to confirm if they were still opened, which they confirmed they were. Upon arriving, however, we found out they had closed - they were out of power and had shut down. No apologies nothing, but that 'we are closed guys, come later!'. Quite disappointing. 1 star.
Overall, will give them an avg of 3.
J. R.
Had a great stop off with ice cream and milkshakes love the new larger Cafe.
L.
Great place to take the kids!
Food was great too
C. B.
Coffees and food was alright, someone explaining the various farm sites, or information boards would have made the experience complete.
Keeping the coffee shop open later would allow people to see the milking and not feel rushed to have a coffee and scones.
V. M.
Great place to stop in for lunch good food service and awesome smoothies. Thankyou for an enjoyable stop over while caravaning.
C. G.
Customer service it a little slack. A lot of chatter behind the counter between staff with backs to the customers....leaving customers wait to be served... not even the kitchen staff looking straight at the customers allerted the server to attend them... they were too busy chatting....
One staff member peered over her shoulder and said "oh what do you need.... I have 7 servongs of scons to get out!"... and she turned back to chatting...
I said "I'll just wait till you finish and turn around thank you.".... only then did she stop and actually attend the counter as one should.
Food is Ok... but steer clear of the counter top cookies and treats. Last time i purchased them not only was a long hair baked into a cookie, it seemed they were baked quite some time ago - stale - not fresh at all. Didn't act apon it as it was a take-away purchase and we were on the road.
Get the staff some propper professional hospitalitiy training and get some fresh counter top treats and they will get better than the average 3.x rating...
O. R.
Beautiful place and delicious burgers
L. S.
Very very slow service. Staff don't seem organised. Outside is fantastic and animals great.
R. K.
It's got potential to be a lot better.
A. F.
Was a 5 star rating as they have an amazing milkshake but since they are selling they have taken away the petting area for most of the animals. Playground is also only suitable for 3 and up
T.
Very Clean.
Excellent customer service.
Polite team members.
Quick and accurate table service.
Well worth the visit.
D. 6.
Great place for families. Good food, lots of open space, staff and animals alike super friendly 😊
M. S.
Lunch was great, big meal. Do serve local wine. Good for kids They can watch cows being milked. Have animal nursery.
M. O.
Love stopping by and picking up milk and their delicious yoghurt. Staff are friendly and helpful. And watching the milking an occasional treat.
B. N.
Great for the little ones. Bany animals for the kiddies and interesting for thw adults watching the cows get milked. Great little cafe too..best of all, its free.
T. K.
We didn’t really visit Caldermeade Cafe, however we were able to enjoy giving the goats a little bit of grass and playing with animals and taking a bucketload of photos. I highly recommend you guys to visit this place!
B. M.
A perfect little banyard cafe in the middle of a friendly farm, lovely food and warm atmosphere. Ordered the Avo & Beetroot Hummus Eggs, great serving size and fresh eggs. Perfect for a stopover with friends and kids - there's a petting zoo if you have the time as well.
G. K.
Since the farm has changed ownership the cafe has been revamped and is great. Staff have changed but thankfully not the chef, food is still great. I will be back there again tomorrow.
M. P.
Food itself is quite good but very overpriced for a cafe setting. $8 for a average sized milkshake is unheard of and quite honestly ive had better for half that price.
J. F.
Under development and is being commercialized into an animal entertainment attraction. Lots of processed foods for sale. Looking forward to the completion.
A. L.
Great day with grandkids. Buying from the shop could improve as you have to queue up with everyone ordering food
C. C.
Great animals, but seriously, $20 for a pie and chips? Pie was nice, but way too expensive
K. K.
Great family place to visit , food was great and staff were amazing
S. J.
Love visiting here. Can't wait to see the new upgrade. Good hot chocolate. Nice and creamy and I love seeing the animals
L. H.
We consumed iced coffees, iced chocolate and a pina colada on our visit. These drinks were nothing great nor were they poor. A little expensive considering the cows are in the paddock next door. It is a nice, relaxing place to stop on the way to the Bass Coast or Phillip Island with plenty of space for the kids to stretch their legs.
C. Y.
Friendly service. Large portions.
Decent scones... too bad they did not use proper cream for the scones.
T. G.
tasty cakes, a good playground and some animals to see. Its a good place to stop and rest on the way to Phillip Island.
I would recommend wearing boots if its been raining as the land around the playground was waterlogged.
A. O.
Great little play area and fully refurbed.
N. N.
Great place. Just need the scones to be hot for 5 stars.
P. G.
Very nice spot to visit. Would rate 5 stars when it is finished. Good staff
A. R.
Very nice dairy farm with cafe and nursery animals, kids, calves, alpacas, chickens, donkey and playground for the kids.
R. F.
Great fun for the kids, although the okay ground was probably more suited to kids aged 10+ due to the scale of things. The food from the cafe was great too.
D. F.
Nice venue, great being able to pat the goats & calves, awesome products & food
M. J.
A very nice place to explore the farm, very yummy cafe.
K. W.
A good place to stop on your way to Phillip Island. Great Devonshire tea and according to my daughter the milkshakes were AMAZING!
J. H.
Worth a visit great for kids
S. M.
Great place to take the kids. Nice homestyle food and coffee plus big playground, lots of room to run around and animals to pat. Could easily spend the whole day here
P. D.
Nice staff still worth a visit
A. r. D.
One can see Lamas , goats , sheep , horses , donkeys , Chinese silky hen etc and touch and feel them. Plenty of cows and if one reaches there during milking time , one can see the milking process and they have a large carousel for the process.
A. W.
Nice and open. Plenty of room for the kids. Good simple food.
A.
Really nice soup and the steak pie is soooo delicious, would 100% recommend the home made pie. Don't forget the milk shakes either! Really did not disappoint, good reviews on this listing rings true

T. K.
We didn’t really visit Caldermeade Cafe, however we were able to enjoy giving the goats a little bit of grass and playing with animals and taking a bucketload of photos. I highly recommend you guys to visit this place!

Friendly service. Large portions.
Decent scones... too bad they did not use proper cream for the scones.

c. v.
Very good places, food is nice with fresh cheese and milk from their farm but a bit pricey, we can watch milking cows live

The animals and area is very peaceful and relaxing.

The scones and sausage rolls are yum!
R. C.
Gorgous baby calves ..fresh dairy produce . Very busy place heat for a pit stop

Food was good. Saw the cows get milked. Patted some wee farm animals. Pretty much what you'd expect when you visit a farm for lunch.
