Comments of Cathedral Coffee

You know you’re looking good when you walk into your hole in the wall coffee shop and they’ve got Grace Jones spinning on the turntable, better yet the long black is as good as the vibe. Cathedral Coffee is a great little spot near Vintage Sole and Retro Star in Cathedral Arcade, one of Melbournes hidden arcade gems. Take a seat on the beautifully tiled arcade and watch Melbourne life go by. Friendly people making great coffee, it’s what makes Melbourne the best city in Australia.

Beautiful historic arcade. Small. Worth looking into if you are already in the area. Be sure to look up at the gorgeous handiwork. Walk upstairs to see the letter chute, old cage lifts, and the vintage store and craft and fabric shops. The stair well is in a bit of disrepair. The historical boards give you a good idea of its history and hey days.

Stunning. The wine, the coffee, the food. Staff are lovely too. One told me the meaning behind the term epicurean, so perhaps you'll learn something. Another always says "have a gooooood day" in an odd but charming way, quite tall too. I once went swimming during a hail storm, but I wore a pot as a hat so it felt quite safe and it was one of the happiest moments of my life. I might not ever get that feeling back but places like this help make each day brighter. Ding ding ding.

One of the best coffee shops in the city. Great coffee and friendly service tucked away in a charming little arcade. Highly recommend

Gorgeous, cute little home away from home in an historic Melbourne building. Attentive, knowledgeable staff are dishing out great coffee and wine, and delicious foot accompaniments. Can’t wait to return.

I discovered this little 'hidden away' coffee shop on a recent trip to Melbourne. There may be very little room to move once inside the shop but good things come in small packages. Fabulous coffee, great service and a really lovely atmosphere. I didn't try any food but it all looked very good! Give them a try - you won't be disappointed!

Probably my favorite place to get coffee! I try to get my coffee there everyday if I can cause I know I will never start my day off with a disappointing coffee.

first of all, I actually like this coffee shop. however, one day they re-heated and burnt the milk for my coffee which made taste less. it was happened obviously just in front of me. and my cappchino was almost flat white. I hope I could get a nice one next time.

A coffee lovers haven, tucked away in the bohemian arts precinct that is the Nicholson Building. Just tried their Soy Chai Latte, which was honestly one of the best iv had.

We were out for a google photo shoot and stopped by the Cathedral Arcade as a curiosity. The arcade was built during the mid 1920’s.
The arched glasses ceiling is quite something as is the glass dome. The lifts seem to be almost original but appear to have been electrically updated.
Two shops in the upper levels were of great curiosity, one selling what seemed to be pre loved 70’s and 80’s clothes. Retro style apparel.
The other was a millenary shop with all sorts of wearables as well as threads for cross stitching, perfumes, ribbons and lots more. The decor and windows seem to be original to the outside of the shop.
One item of interest was the letter posting shute where letters would be posted into the Shute and fall to a collector post box on the ground floor. These letters would have been collected by a postman for sorting at a post office.
Sadly, some of the tiling on the upper floors are in need of replacement or repair.
But for the curious this is worth a visit for a step back in time.
