Nice open place creates a good atmosphere. Love the food! The special we had was very nice, although the special Rostie was just a normal hash brown, but the beetroot hummus was perfect. The customer service could have been a bit better. Other than those aspects the overall experience was wonderful!

TLDR: Tasty food, good price, quick & friendly service, attentive to allergies, accessible Details: Lunch out with my husband and baby in stroller. We were quickly seated and ordered our food. The wait staff are friendly and ensured she understood my dietary requirements. I was pleasantly surprised they were able to accommodate so well without making the dish look incomplete. I had the caramelized banana waffles which were very tasty. The only slight downside was that my scoop of ice cream melted too quickly. My husband had the fish & chips. We agreed it was the best chips we've had in a very long time, maybe ever. We did not order drinks. We also ate there using coupon but I would happily return and pay full price next time. The menu looked interesting and there's lots I'd like to try.

Neel, his family and staff, do a fine job of getting to know and greeting customers with a pleasant smile and helpful demeanour. This accessible site with indoor or outdoor seating has many uses - special functions, catch-ups, dates, meetings, chill-out time, happy hour, and even a place for smokers to congregate over a drink. Paid-Pparking is on street. There has been a name change - formally 'Billy's Pantry', but now 'Coventry's Pantry'. A new chef is developing their style and food niche via menu, drink and front display changes. This doesn't happen overnight, but if the stellar breakfast menu is an indicator of what is to come - I can't wait to see where the rest of the menu goes! Another exciting addition is their blend of coffee beans [two types/sizes - see photo] - the coffee here has intense depth and strength. As a regular visitor, I have tried breakfast, snacks, main and dessert items. Below are my favourites and may become yours too! Menu prices are in the mid-range. Breakfast: Eggs Benedict - poached eggs [2], bacon on a muffin with lashings of Hollandaise sauce - generous, tasty serve [I added mushrooms]. Breakfast burger - brioche bun, fried egg, bacon, hash brown, lettuce, tomato, tomato relish and caramelised onions - YUM! As this came to the table, the smells reminded me of the old fashioned American burgers we used to get. Chilli Scramble - bacon, fresh chilli, spring onions, fetta cheese on sourdough - tasty and filling - perfect with a long black or an OJ. Big Breakfast - eggs [your way - I had poached], chorizo, avocado, mushrooms, hashbrown, roasted tomato, spinach, baked beans, halloumi on sourdough - a hearty meal. Mains: Spaghetti Aglio Olio - a generous serving of prawns, chorizo, tomato, parsley, garlic, and olive oil - great with sparkling wine. Tasmanian Salmon - pan-seared salmon fillet, sauteed spinach, rosemary-garlic potatoes and lemon caper sauce - light and tasty. Thai Chilli Calamari Salad - rocket, crispy shallots, Asian slaw, mild Thai dressing over lightly crumbed/fried calamari - you can request the dressing to be hotter. Desserts: Chocolate Mousse - with cream or ice cream - homemade. Smooth, chocolatey heaven! It can be shared, but will you want to?! Drinks - Coventry's Pantry has become the place to socialise during 'happy hour' 3-7 pm Tues - Sun - with two cocktails on special $12, most beers are $5.50, and house wines are $5. The Espresso Martini and Aperol Spritz seem the most popular of the cocktails. Their selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is vast, and be sure to ask about their smoothies and freshly pressed juices. Other menu items that may interest you: Pizzas [including GF bases] and risotto dishes. Express menu and sides items - burgers, fish & chips, loaded fries, dips and calamari, to name a few. Daily specials - such as chicken curry - check the board. Toasties from the front display. I return to Coventry's Pantry for its relaxed atmosphere, stellar service and to try out new menu items, return for old favourites, and connect with locals, friends and the owners. The coffee is passable and I was more than likely overcharged for my iced latte (we got a regular almond cap and an iced latte and paid 13.40?). Food and Coffee: Delicious food and superb coffee! Must try their burgers, pizzas and pasta. The portion sizes are large for the price. Plenty vegetarian options. We are gaga about their breakfast menu which was available until 2pm. It has become one of our favourite food cafes and brunch spot in the city. They also have happy hour everyday from 3-7pm. Ambiance: if you are looking to do some light reading, work or simply hangout with friends or family, it is a perfect spot for you. Ample space. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is pet friendly. Service: Fast service and friendly staff. Dining options: Dine in, Takeaway, or Delivery via ubereats, deliveroo, menulog, doordash

The place has changed owners | Unfortunately the place has gone downhill. Servings are getting smaller, prices are going up. Pretty easy to understand why. The owner and family camping on the table inside detracts from any enjoyable vibe. Either decide to cater exclusively for the tradies next door (good luck when the building is complete though..) or look at putting on better quality food to match the price.

Wait staff were helpful in negotiating my food needs. Food was nicely presented and tasty. We sat on the restaurant side, which had music at a level you could appreciate and still hold a conversation at the table. This side of the restaurant was full, but not overwhelming with noise. When we went to pay on the other side of the building it smelt of cigarette smoke... I'm glad we weren't seated on that side! Thanks for an enjoyable dinner.

Went on lunch break wasnt very crowded but service was quite slow. 3 of us waited 30 minutes for 2 angus hamburgers and a mushroom dish. So me and my partner were looking for a nice cafe to get some brunch in the Southbank area, we often eat out at reputable well known cafe eats and came across this modern looking cafe, had a quick look at there menu from out front & was intrigued, so thought we would give it a try, we were welcomed by one of the cheerful waiter staff, the surrounding was filled with natural light which gave a nice airy relaxed feel, also sophistcated at the same time, after reading through the menu further, found some interesting combinations like the battered snapper with chilli lime infused maple, mexican tomato & lime salsa (pico de gallo), sweet potato fries & sour cream, never seen a fish & chips quite like this before, so thought I would give it a try. The waiter explained it was doubled floured in a cajun spice then dipped in a yeast pale ale batter, the batter was so light & crispy I wondered how they did it – yum! My partner took the pulled pork benedict, the waiter explained the pork had been smoked inhouse & then slow cooked for 8hours, the pulled pork was moist & juicy with a slight smokeyness & full of flavour, then topped with perfectly cooked poached eggs. I had to leave a big tip as the food & service was so good and we will definitely will go back very soon & bring friends, by the way coffee there was pretty good too.

Located on Coventry Street just off St Kilda road, I thought this would be a good choice because it was in a quiet area. The decor is great, but unfortunately the service is pretty poor. Staff are running back and forward with no clear responsibilities. If it's not missing cutlery it's incorrect orders or people standing at the door not being seated - they're always putting out the next fire. I'm guessing the staff and establishment are fairly new. This could be a fantastic cafe if they could just sort the service out.

I had brekkie burger last week that was the best burger i ever had. Staff were very friendly, specially that glass girl who serve me coffee. She was super friendly and preety. I forgot her name i think rusi or lucy. Thank you Coventry pantry, defienetly i will bring my friend there soon.

(Translated) First of all, the service and the ambience are great, but 3 stars. I ordered "stacked waffles" for breakfast, these were unfortunately a flop. Waffles tasted like nothing, the chocolate mousse tasted really weird and the crumble was so much there that you did not know where to go with the small amount of waffles, also here was missing the taste something special. Pity! (Original) Zuerst ist zu sagen, daß der Service und das Ambiente super sind, dafür 3 Sterne. Ich habe mir "stacked waffles" zum Frühstück bestellt, diese waren leider ein Reinfall. Waffeln schmeckten nach gar nichts, das Schoko mousse schmeckte wirklich eigenartig und vom Crumble war so viel da, das man nicht wusste wohin damit bei der kleinen Menge an Waffeln,auch hier fehlte geschmacklich das gewisse Etwas. Schade!
