Food was good. I passed by after tennis. It's a pretty busy cafe. Most customers seem to be from the neighbourhood. I learnt from my first visit that everyone knows Michael 😆

One of the joys of working in and around Melbourne and Victoria are the amazing places you come across quite serendipitously. This morning I took a new path to work and found the most delightful cafe ‘George Street Cafe’. With a blustery wind that felt like Antarctica had floated into Port Phillip Bay, I ventured inside for respite for a morning heart starter latte. I was greeted by the lovely Adam and Jonty who were busily making coffees and serving customers. Listening to the cafe ‘chit chat’ it was clear this was a regular for many of the diners. As my hands warmed around my latte, I flipped through a newspaper but really was delightfully distracted by the warm and cosy atmosphere that exudes from this little place. It represented the essence of a community that enjoys and appreciates consistency in the known and friendliness from those they’ve come to hand over their culinary taste to. I watched a few breakfasts being served, all of which looked tantalisingly. The cakes, slices and sweet treats were tempting but alas, I had a breakfast meeting today otherwise the banana cake would’ve been coming with me. Highly recommend George Street Cafe is on your list if nothing more than to see how a good cafe is run. Thank you.

First time visit here in East Melbourne. I'm truly blown away how good the original structure of the building still stands. The food menu is ace, prices are affordable. They serve tea and coffee for those who love a sip. Very peaceful area. Slow music in back ground. They have new paper aswell for reading. Must visit.

November 2020 - Good quiet location with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff with quick service. Good menu, good coffee, popular with locals and workers. Bacon, egg & cheese roll very tasty. Has a coffee card. Have been there about five times and will always call in when in the area.

I came here on a Saturday morning and was welcomed very kindly and pleasantly by the staff. I tried out their breakfast burger and iced coffee. The staff were very accommodating. The food was delicious! The breakfast burger was nicely toasted and melted in your mouth. One of the best I had. The coffee was a real delight. The barista Peter really knows his stuff. The atmosphere is great and there's a friendly, community vibe that's both welcoming and vibrant. A really great experience and a real highlight to any day. Great food and a great vibe. A must visit!

The George st cafe is a cute neighbourhood cafe that serves great coffee. The food menu is a bit limited on the options but the quality is good. They are not fancy but definitely hearty. It's filled of locals and you will never see a huge line of tourist trying to get a table which is fantastic. The staffs are very friendly.

Great cafe! I live just a few minutes away from this little place and come here almost every morning. They make the best coffee and additionally you can get something delicious to eat. I always order the egg and bacon pie and recommend you try it out too. The staff are also very nice and welcoming and always friendly to my dog, which is a big plus for me.

Really good staff. Food is great, coffee is amazing. Messed up the slightest part of the order that wouldnt have mattered and gave us a free side of chips.

Friendly service but fairly average and slightly burnt coffee. Maybe if that doesn't matter to you this place is ok, but Hard Pressed is just around the corner making consistently great coffee so not much incentive for coming here unless the food is incredible. There is $10 porridge (milk and oats) with sugar on the menu so I'm not sure what to think yet

Been going another place for years, until recent I found myself in this gem in the corner of East Melbourne. I would say one of the best choice in the area, probably the most value for money breakfast you could get in Melbourne during Monday-Friday. And Good job to the team whom served me last week.

If you love great coffee, this is The Place for you! Even though it's exterior doesn't look like much, the quality of the service George Street Cafe provides is superb. They have the nicest staff ever! Not only is it cosy and warm, but it also sells the most delicious pies you can find in Melbourne.

Quick delicious breakfast options and good coffee. Bacon eggs on crispy sourdough, with plenty of butter and a smoked salmon baguette were had. Bacon and eggs on toast was the winner of the two. Sit out on the quiet street front for good dog watching.

I was fortunate to find this cafe on a recent trip to Melbourne. Fabulous food, good coffee, good service. Try the five bean bake for breakfast: A delicious and obviously home made baked beans served with poached eggs, a little goats cheese sprinkled on top, plus some warm roti bread and greens on the side too. The place is packed (understandably) from the time it opens, so get in early to get a good table. I'll certainly be going back there next time I'm in Melbourne.

Jonty was a joy to be served by. I occasionally pop in but always enjoy the cozy and comfy attitude given by him. I hope he sees more days at the cafe because he makes one of the best coffees out of them all. I recomend this cafe at any time it has some nice eats and good wake up coffe.

They have cheap deals and a nice enough atmosphere, but all of my experiences here have been a little average, backed up by two other family members. It's just average tasting. It seems a hit with some locals who'll have the dogs outside and sit on the street, but for me, there is far too much competition in the area to have average.
