Spacious place, with good food & great coffee.
We ordered the Almond French Toast (Almond spread brioche, poached pear, pistachio, seasonal fruits, raspberry mascarpone, meringue), and Eggs Benny with Smoked Salmon (served w/ poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, spinach, shichimi, fried shallots on English muffins).
French Toast wasn't sweet, which is perfect as the plate was loaded with fruits. Egg Benny was perfectly cooked.
They can get packed on the weekends, so try to come early.
S. K.
Really nice lunch spot and you pass some very interesting doorways in Guildford Lane, which I really wanted to knock on because I am sure their interiors would be just as interesting. They only take reservations for 8 or more except they have special table for 4 that can be reserved, so we reserved that. Weird like we were sitting in a box but anyway food nice. Vegetarian burger, big breakfast, corn and zucchini fritters and avo smash. Also prosecco red wine, beers and coffees (soy lattes, flat whites). However when wanted to order 2nd round of prosecco waitperson said they didn't have any. OK very limited wine list said sparkling so what did they have? She came back and said they had prosecco. What. Oh dear.
D. H.
Krimper has a very nice atmosphere, relaxed, cosy, and comfortable. I could see myself spending a long time sitting at a little table in the corner.
We enjoyed the chai, and the food was nice. Good serving sizes, and the eggs Benny was clean plate club. The French toast was ok, a little too sweet without anything to balance it with, and not as much flavour as I'd hoped, but still pleasant.
Worth a visit, particularly on a cold day when looking for a cosy place to stop.

Well worth seeking out this cafe tucked away in a picturesque lane way. Set in a very old brick building with old style furniture plus artworks the cafe oozes character. Good breakfast/brunch menu with a range of dishes from eggs on toast to fancier and colourful dishes. Good coffee. Friendly service.
H. D.
Nice environment and service. Average food and drink. A bit pricy compare to other coffees in city. But I think it's worth to try for a sunday brunch
S. Y.
Took a long time for the food to be served to us but the meal was worth the wait. Friendly reminder ~ would not be ideal if you are in a hurry :)
O. K.
Krimper cafe is an insta-worthy cafe that offers nice vibe. But, that's where the fun ended for us. Our experience was mix of good and bad as far as the food is concerned.
Although, the Chai served was very nice, coffee was extremely weak even with.3/4th cup full. The French toast was extremely sweet and lacked the flavors mentioned. Not to forget the portion, especially for the price you pay. The burger was awesome but not enough as a meal on its own.
Like mentioned earlier, if the portions are small for the price you pay, not consistently tasty, and if you need to order something more even after ordering individual portions of a meals, then that's a problem.
Hospitality is topnotch!! Yet, avoidable.
A. M.
Gorgeous cafe. Order taken and food served in great time even though it was a full house.
The korean ribs were fall-apart tender and delicious, deboned too which I appreciate. Sauce for the chips would’ve been nice but not a big deal (the waiters were way too busy for me to ask).
The salmon eggs benny was definitely good but it was almost too simple considering the price point. The mushroom one was a bit better because they do something to the mushrooms to make them really tasty.
The real highlight of this cafe is the atmosphere.
P. M.
Cool atmosphere for brunch spot and serves really good coffee.
If it's busy, then you can go to the Brick Lane Cafe on the other side and vice versa.
J. T.
Awesome food, good prices and really fresh ingredients. The staff were really on point and the food came out promptly. They've created a really cool atmosphere here as well so definitely worth a visit!
P. K.
Topnotch ambience, tasty food & located in one of best laneways in Melbourne CBD. Cant go wrong with this place!
A. M.
nice cafe, very good ambience, prices were as expected as far as city cafes go. ordered avo on toast, wasn't salted and was only given pepper on the table so bit annoyed there. could have just asked for a salt shaker however so no points there. they had an online menu with table service however after I asked for a real menu it was provided so no points off there. overall a very nice cafe, recommend it and would visit again.
P. P.
Food was consistent as always. It was very busy when I went on a Sunday. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed but they did a good job making sure everyone was taken care of
B. L.
Great range of drinks and meals in a quintessentially Melbourne industrial-vibe setting. Lots of tables and no rush to order or leave. Love that it's tucked away in the middle of the city but feels intimate and hidden
T. L.
This is an absolutely fantastic cafe. Lots of seating avaliable, and you will get served very promptly. They have an incredibly delectable menu to pick from both from breakfast and lunch, servings are very large and well worth the price.
J. S.
As Melbourne as you can get. This warehouse cafe in a lane way off the main drag is everything you want it to be! Their coffee blend is naturally sweeter than most which I am a huge fan of. As for the food it’s amazing, I recommend going off menu and ordering the brekky role. Incredible honestly every aspect of this thing is perfect it has to be the best breakfast burger in Melbourne and definitely the best I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favour and get there!!
A. L.
If you are looking for a hidden gem in one of Melbourne’s unique lane ways, visit Krimper. Excellent service and friendly staff. Perfect place for brunch or a coffee catch up
M. R.
Hidden in a Melbourne lane this place has character and plenty of seating. Staff were attentive and nice. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back.
P.
Great music! I enjoyed the ambient.
Good coffee 👌🏻 service was really attentive 👌🏻
As per food, I just tried a simple poached eggs on toast and they delivered well, Melbourne style.
C. L.
It’s located in a very convenient location.
Coffee is enjoyable! Always good to start the day with great coffee.
Food’s great! I liked the french toast very much. The mascarpone cheese topping the thick brioche French toast is really tasty. It isn’t too rich and it worked really well with the fresh berries and toast.
There’s a 2nd portion of the menu that starts at 10am, so we had to order the corn fritters off that menu when the clock hits 10am.
Upside: High chair for children! It’s great that high chair is available for the 2 kids in my travel group.
T. L.
Enjoyed Sunday brunch here a couple of weeks ago. Surprisingly we were able to get a table for 2 with no booking and no wait for a table. Place was busy.
Coffee was great, food menu had some different brunch ideas and most items had a V, VG or GFO option. Loved the different eggs benny options - I chose the soy braised mushroom. Very rich but also delicious.
Love the location of this cafe, one of the best lane ways in Melbourne. Will definitely come back.
M. K.
Big cafe in CBD.
It's very popular, but you'll find a table to have good food and coffee here!
A. L.
Incredibly friendly, attentive service. Staff are all lovely. Good range of sweet and savoury breakfast and lunch options. Delicious! And located on a scenic lane of beautiful greenery 😊
K. B.
Staff were friends but that'd about it. Food was expensive for the portion provided. Coffee was burnt and couldn't even drink it. Thankfully they did refund it but which was nice and were understansing. They don't have any syrups or anything though.
J.
Months after my visit, all I remember is how great the atmosphere was, it was big, spacious, and surprisingly peaceful. The lighting was on point, loved all the pictures I took inside. I was content with the food and dessert. But I’m not sure what their best menu is. There are big and long tables so it won’t be a problem if you come in big groups. I will definitely give another visit next time.
A. P.
Very warm and homey cafe in a brick walled setting in Guildford Lane. It feels like being in a private space wherever you sit, great service, had the chicken on waffles which was delicious and filling. We walked in without a booking on a Sunday morning with no wait. Plenty of indoor seating for different party sizes.
r. m.
On a Saturday morning I visited this cafe for breakfast and coffee. No doubt the coffee was too good. The food is yummy as well. Most importantly I loved the ambience and the staff here is lovely .
s. m.
Brilliant! We had the fritters, and french toast with a bunch of sides. It was the first time in years where we enjoyed a melbourne cafe without hipster service or over priced food. The chef has put thought into the extras they recommend with each dish, cool interior, and good music. We will be back!
M. L.
This rustic warehouse cafe is hidden away in a little lane way. The space is pretty open and it has nice and cosy vibe. The staff were super friendly and attentive. They also have one of the best chocolate cookies in town and I always come back for more. The coffee was great and I enjoyed Freekeh salad.
D. N.
Insanely good coffee! The barista has a special secret to make a soy milk coffee perfectly silky smooth and incorporated wonderfully.
M. C.
I had Prawn Chili Scram and I love it. The place is spacious, you do not need to cram with other customers, you will have a good comfy space for yourself(and friends).
The interior design was industrial, and very retro. Luv it ! Recommend this place for a brunch.
D. M.
The decor is great,
The music is ace,
The servers were nice, polite, and charming.
The coffee was was average though. The competition in Melbourne is fierce!
My burger was average. It was tasty enough, but again. In Melbourne there are far tastier burgers for three same price.
My girlfriend though, didn't enjoy her meal. Her food tasted the same as if it'd been all cooked in the same pan.
G.
[2 and 1/2 stars]
Rather average/ middle of the road cafe experience.
I loved the location- hidden behind an unassuming doorway in a quite laneway. Very rustic decor and relaxed vibe. Coffee was good but Milky and not as strong as you’d expect from a flat white.
Nice food menu. I ordered the “Mushroom stack” .... It arrived with only 6 tiny button mushrooms- not what I was expecting at all, and not very mushroomy. There was more avocado than mushrooms- seemed more like a smashed avo dish. But it was nice.
The cafe has one toilet which is poorly maintained- missing toilet seat (!) and broken toilet roll holder that’s missing toilet paper.
When settling up, bare in mind that they charge you a fee if you use a card.
Overall an okay experience - nothing wow but nothing too terrible either.
Wouldn’t rush back - so many better cafe choices in the area.
N. S.
Krimper offers a great place to relax, study or have a coffee with your mates. Its located in a beautiful green alley that nobody knows, personally Krimper is one of my favourite places to drink coffee at. Their coffee is light, creamy and subtle. However, if you are going there make sure to order before 3pm as that is when their kitchen closes.
D. R.
Without a doubt the best Smoked Salmon Benedict I've ever had in my life! The Almond French Toast was also wonderful! Great atmosphere, service and talented chef!
J. B.
Probably the best croissants I've had in Melbourne, to my taste very similar to what you would find in best patisseries in Paris.
EDIT: I've had to downgrade this one a bit. We've tried the croissants again, and, unfortunately, they did not raise well. The pistachio brioche was great, however.
P. G.
Yummy brunch and good variety menu. Got both breakfast menu and lunch menu start from 10am so good option for either light food and proper means as you feel like! Super warm spot to have you did in winter!
O. S.
Laneway culture is the foundation of Melbourne life style. This cafe is hidden away in the lane way that you can walk pass it easily. I ran into this place after a company breakfast session. It's very spacious inside. Coffee is well made. Plenty of space around. Its a great place to chill or have a quiet conversation with your mates.
H. P.
Really nice and chilled cafe. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. We had bikes with us and it was raining and they let us put the bikes in the store while we ate. The food was average but the service was great.
J. T.
Getting better...
10/10 one of a kind venue
9/10 Service
8/10 Corn Fritter
7/10 on their coffees; pour over, soy latte
K. T.
Signage is not obvious, so you might miss it if the doors are closed. Relaxed, industrial vibe.
They didn’t have mugs so served large cappuccinos in a paper takeaway cup. Lamb skewers were tender and juicy. The breakkie platter had variety, but not memorable.
A.
Very nice cafe in a quiet alleyway. The service was good and loved the 80s-90s music! I ordered the soba noodle dish and I’d definitely have that again the next time I’m back
Z.
Well Worth It:
Nice place for brunch, very open, staff are friendly and polite. Food is a simple fair but nicely priced and yummy 😋
A great find and will be back again, thank you.
Y. L.
Ordered Prawn Chili Scram, I love the sauce but the prawn was cold. It was cooked for a while and put aside then served it if you order this one. We also have a Waugh beef burger, it is tasty. I think all of the sauces they use are delicious. Matcha latte is great
d. b.
Really really good coffee and all the food we ordered was great can't recommend more!
S. t. B.
Large space, nice industrial architecture. Friendly staff and tasty brunch. Some dishes are small so check with the waiters before ordering. Yummy looking pastries and cakes.
K. D.
Quite possibly the best avo based brekky I’ve had. Playful flavours n textures, filling. Scrumptious, would recommend
S. H.
Located on this cute lane way in the CBD...The food was great and the staff are super friendly.. will go again for sure
E. C.
Great coffee, delicious food and really nice staff. Love stopping by daily for a brew.
T. T.
Unique secret back alley feel which let's you feel like you found some hidden sanctuary that only a few had always known. Great food, ambience, service - just don't tell anyone 😉
J. G. (.
As I walked down this beautiful laneway, I had no idea what hid behind these two wooden doors.
These doors opened up to one of my favourite cafe's here in Melbourne!
I'm not usually the hipster type, but I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, friendly staff and great coffee.
I will return!
A.
Like it! We order the beef brisket and mushroom Sangas, both dishes are very tasty and well designed. Love the atmosphere and the hidden location as well
M. S.
Amazing coffee and really good customer service (warm, polite, welcoming). That’s why I keep coming back. ;)
J.
Great Coffee, the lady serving us was incredibly friendly
Will definitely make sure to come back
L.
Good taste of coffee and too solid toast.
This is such a cozy cafe to have a brunch, though.
N. C.
Excellent atmosphere and friendly staff. Had the smoked chicken salad, but they were out of the smoked chicken so they asked if I was happy with grilled chicken. Happy to report the grilled chicken was excellent and I appreciated the effort to still get me what I ordered. Iced coffee was also fantastic!
N. M.
Apparently Krimper has been in Guildford Lane for nearly four years and thanks to their little 'We're Open' black board sign out front I finally noticed them today! I'm so glad I did because there's a gorgeous cafe behind those big wooden doors. I had the French Toast from their all-day-breakfast menu, which looked stunning and tasted even better, and a lemongrass and ginger tea. Hubby had fruit toast and a long mac coffee, which he said was great. This place is on our 'Go Back Again' list.
K. W.
I haven't enjoyed Melbourne cage food for a while now. Typical Melbourne cafes usually only have incredible "vibes" and ok food. But this one though... The food was SO DELICIOUS. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my sweet corn fritters. It was absolutely wonderful. My brother so enjoyed his salad as well. It was beyond what we were expecting. I came here for vibes and feels, but this café delivered so much more. WE ARE COMING BACK!!
R. Y. J. Y.
Fell in love with this place during the visit in the morning. Love this place, especially acoustic feeling and ware house turned into cafe. it is a brilliant idea. Staff are friendly and food is good ( haven't tested the food apart from eggs on toast) Great coffee and great design inside.
A. P.
I enjoyed an absolutely fantastic bacon & eggs with avocado on sourdough here; some of the best I've ever had. My iced coffee was also delicious. Thanks for a great breakfast - I'll definitely be back when I next visit Melbourne!
T. J.
Just happened to stumble onto this little cafe and it was such a lovely experience happy to say my partner and I both enjoyed ourselves
K. B.
I had a coffee and breakfast here. The breakfast menu wasn't very long but the food was amazing and the coffee was delightful. What would keep me coming back, however, was the great staff. Michelle served me and she was so happy and cheerful and made me feel very comfortable. She was such a lovely person, thank you Michelle!!
C. B.
Great café. Nice ambience, staff. Tasty food, delicious avocados.. and good coffee. Perfect breakfast.
R. R.
Great little spot. I love the secluded location. Service is great. Beautifully lit and awesome, interesting food. One of my favourite spots.
C. A.
Great vibes. Warm heaters for cold weather. I like the industrial/ stable/ mad men decor. Great food (good scrambled eggs and quinoa porridge). Love the acoustic pop song mash ups.
J. C.
Nice atmosphere and lovely coffee. Staff members were lovely but a couple of them didn't understand English the best and messed up our order and the table next to ours order. Would definitely go back to try some of the delicious looking food though.
B. M.
Ribs were delicious. Great atmosphere.
T.
Cute place in a really lovely street. A few vegan options and an original spin on the brunch favourites.
C. W.
Fat crunchy chips and tasty chicken karaage burger. Good thing the burger doesn’t have too much sauce. Chicken is crispy.
J. H.
Delicious French Toast and coffee! Nice big space and friendly staff.
P. E. N.
Great place in a great location. Looks great, great food but the wait wasn’t great. It started to grate a bit if I’m honest. Because of the wait the food was late so that is why I thought it was good but not great. Dirk and Tarquin loved this place. A little too much if you ask me.
S. A.
Very nice bacon and waffles, coffee was good in taste. However, coffee preparation was below the cafe reputation.
L. T.
Tucked down a gorgeously green laneway, this is definitely one of my favorite cafes in Melbourne if you want to just relax and unwind. The food is always on point, the coffee is great, the owner is super friendly, and the atmosphere as a whole is perfect.
I've been here about half a dozen times when I want to show people how great Melbourne can be without the pretentiousness.
K. M.
Cosy and rustic interior. Good choice and range on the menu. French toast and smashed avocado were delicious and super fresh. Friendly and welcoming staff, comfortable seats and quick service. Good prices and value.
B. P.
This is my favourite cafe in the Melbourne CBD. The coffee is great, the place is big enough that the staff don't mind if I work on my laptop on one of the communal tables. Wonderful atompshere, in an old warehouse that is in a laneway full of finches and pot plants. Staff are friendly. Some interesting art works on the walls. The coffee in the photo is a soy latte with an extra shot. Coffee is well presented. The extra shot doesn't always come on the side, but this time it did.
C. B.
Perfect coffee.
Delicious food.
Warehouse vibes w excellent playlist.
Perfect place to work/freelance/study from especially after lunch hour is finished.
One of Melbourne’s hidden gems.
v.
Fantastic coffee an great food. Highly recommend!
K. F.
Amazing little hidden gem. Fantastic service. Good coffee and the food is wonderful.
D. L.
The food is so tasty... And the place is comfy and friendly service
T.
Faded as after a hangover....
These guys are absolute champions, the coffee and eggs Benny are on point.
Staff are A+
What's not to love?
B. “.
Not bad.
K. G.
Wondeful food and service. Had a great family reunion here and loved the atmosphere.
J. C. Q.
Great ambience, service, and coffee. I got the chicken karaage burger. It tasted great, but if I were to nitpick, the chicken was pretty far from what a karaage is. Much closer to a chicken nugget. 😆
t.
Good coffee, Lovely customer service.
B. H.
Another of the great hidden gems in Melbourne's laneways. Wonderfully atmospheric refurbished factory vibes matched with great coffee and delicious food. A great place for a quiet catch up with someone or a whole bunch of people.
K. T.
Yummy brekkie! A bit hard to find as sometimes the door is closed. In the famous Guildford Lane, Krimper is a popular spot for the locals. Lots of seatings in the spacious shop. Weekday afternoon it is quiet enough to get some work done over a cup of coffee.
T. V.
Delicious coffee. Great place for breakfast/lunch as well but dishes are a bit on the pricey side. Pork belly was great. Very cosy interior.
e. w.
Loooove the lamb shank meal (brunch/lunch menu, available after 10a.m.). The meat was so tender, juicy, and it was well balanced with really delicious potatoes and greens.
K. P.
Interesting place. Friendly people. Very good cafe and they offer Matcha Late what I also love it. :)
G. T.
Great atmosphere, yummy food, yummy coffee and friendly staff. Can't fault this place.
V. M.
Good coffee and good food. Great spot to grab fuel for a day of shopping in the city.
P. M.
I think I found my cafe😎
It’s a old ,warm warehouse converted into cafe with lots of plants. It was a hot day so I ordered iced latte with almond croissant 🥐
I am drawn towards the vibe of the cafe. It’s huge with lot of seating space. The staff is quick and polite. I can spend hours with paper/ book in my hand in krimper.
M. L.
Great lunch menu in hip Laneway cafe. Definitely worth a visit. Great coffee. Staff were a little slow on the service front though.
S. D.
Great spot!! love the vibes and the interiors. Friendly staff and warm service..
First dish I picked on the menu - sold out! 🙁
Z. B.
A quintessentially Melbourne cafe hidden down a little laneway that serves great coffee and food. Perfect for brunch!! Will be back for more
N. N.
We saw the stellar reviews and decided to try. We had the krimper and chicken burger and they were average, but we did finish them. Service took awhile due to how busy they were. We wish we would have enjoyed our experience more.
S. M.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. The decor and atmosphere are on point for Melbourne laneway expectations and the chef's choices just kick it out of the park! Find it and make it home. Loved it
J. S.
Great quality food, expensive though. "Breakfast Platter" is small, don't expect a "big breakfast" 💔 X
M. T.
Very nice atmosphere, but not impressed by the food. Burger was overpriced, boring and had multiple pieces of cartilage in it.
G. L.
My go to cafe in the neighborhood!
Industrial interior, love their coffee, and yummy pumpkin soup on special! 😋
I. M.
Pretty cool place hidden in the lanes. Great atmosphere. Lovely food. Normal prices. More than you could ask for.
M. T.
Good atmospheric cafe in a small lane. If I hadn't been walking slowly, I'd have missed it!
T. B.
Atmosphere is beautiful. This place feels like a hidden Gem in Melbourne. It is warm and cosy and has a fantastic menu. The Avo Affair with added bacon is absolutely delicious. It is a simple smashed avocado dish with Kale and Radish that creates a subtle freshness to the meal. It's not too over powering and is made with love. Above all they know to put a steak knife on your table! Finish the meal with a Yellow Smoothie and you're set for the day. Overall rating of the meal is 8.4 out of 10. Fantastic.
A. K.
Cosy place for a nice coffee and food. Hidden in the alleyway with neat greenery and strange murals. Almost looks like an early Melbourne with all the brick warehouse/factory buildings.
T. P.
Nice cafe with tasty desserts ❤️❤️❤️
G. D.
Great smooth coffees and tasty breakfast. I recommend the mushroom and spinach
E. F.
Breakfast options are OK and coffee is good.
K. K.
One of my favorite hideaway cafes. The coffee is excellent. The menu is good range and the food quality is excellent. The vibes is relaxed, the chairs are spaced out so you can chat without listening everyone else's conversation.
O. B.
Great brunch in a converted warehouse. Good service.
E. (.
Went here after discovering it on Google and was not disappointed. The coffee was perfect drinking temperature, without feeling like it had sat out for too long. The staff were accommodating, even in the early morning rush. Our food was fresh, but our toast was a bit dry and food was the French toast lacked any almond flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed out meal here and highly recommend to all passing.
A. P.
Enjoyed the most delicious lunch yesterday, accompanied by a really yummy drop of sav blanc. The highlight though was definitely the divine customer service my husband, little girls and I received. Krimper really has it all!
J.
Amazing food, and a cool place in general. Really enjoyed my lamb skewers, although the service was a bit slow and they forgot my napkin twice
M. U.
The beautiful smell of coffee led a group of us into the cafe! We ordered cold brews and flat whites -cold brew tasted quite bland even if it is a cold brew but flat white was creamy and on point! It is jam packed and almost impossible to find seat so I would definitely recommend it to people on the run but if you are hoping to find a spot in the joint to enjoy your special cup of coffee, good luck!
R. B.
I adore the atmosphere of Guilford Lane and Krimper. Fresh, delicious and beautifully presented food and exactly the strong coffee I really needed. The staff were so attentive, friendly and I really appreciated the effort they went to.
M. L.
Love their food so special and the staff is friendly too.
H. W.
Good vibe and unique cafe. Food and coffee is good.
B. B.
Stopped for a coffee and quick bite before heading to the airport and was really happy to find this literal hole in the wall hidden in an alley.
We just about walked past but decided to open the wooden front door into the industrial-styled coffee shop. The decor is really well done and inviting. A server quickly took our order and there was little to no wait on the coffees. The soy flat white was perfectly balanced and my girlfriends' long black was super punchy in the best way. The chocolate croissant was good but could have been a bit crunchier - the layers seemed to have melded together a bit too much.
We only tried a half dozen coffee shops in the area, but Krimper Cafe was definitely our favorite.
Overall a great atmosphere, a large interior space, and closed-off from the weather. Would definitely go back.
N. K.
Never disappoints, vibes are beautiful as always and the fritters and coffee were all tasty.
A. S.
Good coffee and food, with nice vibe.
Loved there brunch options. Busy so better book in.
T. O.
One of my favorite places for coffee and a sit down breakfast. Cool hipster/industrial vibe and great coffee. The avocado smash toast was delicious. I only give it four out of five stars because of the price. It seems significantly more expensive than it was even three years ago when I first went. Can easily spend over $20-$25 for a meal and coffee per person depending on what you order. You get what you pay for though, as the quality is very good.
A. M.
Really nice cafe with a great atmosphere and delicious coffee. The decor is really inviting, and the service was impressively fast. The coffee was strong and smooth, and the chocolate croissant was one of the best I’ve ever had. Slightly odd thing that I liked was that there was no massive garage door open letting the cold air in. Most cafes in the area are freezing as it’s completely open- this would be great in the summer but uncomfortable in the winter months.
d. m.
I cannot fault Krimper - everything was to my liking ie. perfect. The atmosphere, the gentle lighting (very important to my morning comfort), the prices, the food, the coffee (taste and temperature) and the service. So wonderful, we returned again the next morning. Highly recommended and would return next time we're in Melbourne.
D. M.
Excellent atmosphere and location in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. The alleyway that the cafe is located in had very nice floral greenery. Food was tasty, had the salmon as a side, it was thicker than any other cafe, was good just a bit different. Had a chicken toastie and was pleasantly surprised. For the price it was excellent. Would visit here again as it is a cool cafe.
T. Z.
Coffee was wonderful! Food was decent. Come for the coffee :)
S. F.
Excellent espresso drinks. I had the Piccolo and a Mocha.
W. A.
The Breakfast was exquisite and the atmosphere was excellent. A must go to place..
F.
Krimper is absolutely superb. The coffee is the best around, the service is great and the hospitality by the team is also first class. You have the option of a fantastic breakfast/brunch to accompany your coffee, or a lovely muffin/cake. During the cold winter mornings, the heaters are always going so it's nice and warm . . and the other fun part is the unique industrial look of the place. It's definitely worth a visit (actually more than one visit).

It's so great to see Krimper back open! The same super friendly service and amazing food and coffee are back too. Still one of our faves in a great, central spot. We broke our covid brunch drought here today and weren't disappointed. Try the brisket reuben!
J. Y.
my favouritee cafe in melbourne. or at least one of my favs haha
their coffee, customer service and the interior design is really great!
I would say that their food is good! but it is a melbourne cafe average food haha
definitely try it here!!
C. S.
Delicious coffee!!! Really smooth and really well made.. Service was a little slow, they forgot to take our order for roughly 10 minutes, and weren't busy.. But were very apologetic when finally serving us.. Again, GREAT COFFEE!!
J. W.
Coffee was good but everywhere in Melbourne should be good - it’s a city that prides itself with good coffee so that’s standard. Food was below-interesting and average. It satisfies you well with standard portion and the ingredients are fresh - but it’s not interesting. In a city where all foods and cultures blend together - this place needs to amp up its gastronomical game albeit the relaxed and warm interior.
A. S.
Krimper cafe is a nice place hidden away in the alleyways of Melbourne. Is is almost hidden away behind huge wooden doors, which I assume was the original doors of the warehouse that they converted. They have small menu with some good burgers and sandwiches, the coffee is good but strong. I am fan of their Shroom burger.😀
R. H.
Delicious food + coffee, excellent service, warm, cosy, beaut decor :)
M. K. N.
Disappointing breakfast. First time we have been but wont be going back. The pot of tea was served warm and very bitter as it was way over brewed. Could not get fresh advocado as they had none left. No excuses as we were there at 8 am and only one other table full at the time.
Juice was fresh and nice. Atmosphere nice but had a bit of a musty smell.
Urban list needs to update their recommendation of being one of the best as we have had many nicer breakfasts!
j. k.
it's so easy to miss this entrance (especially if the doors are closed), but there is such a great vibe at this cafe. Staff are always really friendly here and the food is great. If I am looking for a typical ‘Melbourne’ café to take friends from out of town, I always come here
M. S.
cool heritage place with great coffee and food
m. c.
Honestly best latte I have had in Melbourne so far, the chicken sandwich was amazing and the beans and brisket meal was also phenomenal. Staff are friendly and helpful and it has a wonderful cosy atmosphere whilst also not feeling too cramped. Completely unassuming entryway so if you’re not looking you would probably walk right past it.
P. C.
Excellent service. The ambience reflects adaptive reuse interior style. Nice food.
A. M.
Good coffee and good food
S. H.
Breakfast was lovely, fresh and filling. Staff warming and friendly. We were surprised how large and spacious the cafe is and how smoothly things were run. Coffee a little week but overall a charming time.
J. J.
Awesome vibe and lovely food, staff were great too. Love it.
A. E.
The chips are the best Ive ever had. My husband and I were shocked how delicious they were! Super crunchy and cripsy on the outside and hot.
Our burger was pretty good!
Specials board juice was divine
Love the vibe and feel of this place, friwndly service and food was delicious
S. R.
I can only speak for the coffee, cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff as I didn't get a chance to sample anything else. Food was sold out which may be a testament to it's merit. The staff/(owner?) was very kind to me when I sat down with a take away coffee and brought me free goodies to eat (which she had stashed away) because she thought I looked hungry! Def coming back.
G. D.
You need to come here and enjoy the great ambience and food.
N. S.
Great atmosphere, fantastic food and excellent, friendly service.
E. M.
Cool space, great vegetarian sandwich and matcha latte. Staff was friendly enough. There is WiFi but no employees had the password so that was a bust. Seemed a little spendy for what you got but overall good stop for breakfast or lunch.
N. G.
The atmosphere and food are both great
K. A.
This city gem was recommended to us by another local for lunch. Tucked within one of Melbourne's many laneways that was lined with pop-up little gardens - made for a lovely discovery. Lunch was fresh, delicious & served with a smile. As to be expected anywhere at lunch hour, the food took a little while to come out however it was worth the wait! Not a spot to dine & run. Allow for at least an hour. Atmosphere was relaxed & friendly. A great hidden escape from the bustle of the city.
L.
Great food and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. I will definitely come back when I’m next in the city.
G. R.
Great place for a good feed. Being outa towers and hoping it wasn't hit n miss, we were very happy to find a great cafe. Food was filling, smoithe was delicious and hospitality on their A game. We would happily return
A. W.
Beautiful laneway location. The converted warehouse looked great. I ordered the bacon and waffles and it was perfect! Would have eaten here everyday if I could've. Will be back next time
M. S.
Delicious coffee and food, l ordered the toast with smashed avocado and was good!
Bit difficult to enter because of its looking but inside there are many tables. Be careful it is said so crowded especially in the noon, long line and take an hour to order.
K. D.
Good food and vibe, coffee bit cold for my liking when it came out though. Really helpful and friendly waiters.
Tricky to get to if not a local (me). Missed it twice before I saw the sign.
A. S.
The quinoa poached bear bowl blew me away! That was so yummy! For a dairy free muesli bowl it was amazing! I'm not usually a fan of muesli bowls but I will be going back again just to have it. The venue itself is a cool converted warehouse that is is tucked away down an alley in true Melbourne fashion. I can't believe it took me so many years to discover somewhere so cool!
S. L.
Coffee was really done well and the meal were good too! but I love the canelé the most!
A. C.
Once you find this cafe you'll be amazed at how you never knew where it was. It is so big inside and often gets full. Great coffee and extensive menu with breakfast and lunch options. Good for laptop work and solo dining but also good for groups. Has a bathroom.
E. V.
Excellent coffee, food and atmosphere. The cafe is in an old warehouse in a quintessential laneway of Melbourne. Decked out with exposed beams, flakey paint and bare brick walls. Very comforting. I ate the bacon and waffles. Deliciously soft waffles to soak up the egg which was cooked to perfection. Alongside was a tantalisingly salty maple bacon and dotted with cinnamon blueberries. What a combo. Needless to say I will be having this again.
H. H.
Great table service, good prices - even for those of us who are more frugally observant. Staff are friendly and there isn't a long wait for food. And the food is pretty great. Highly recommend the sandwiches of the day - both for value and for taste.
N. M.
Old manufacturing plant turned into a Cafe.
Coffee was on point and daily special were just refreshing.
Avo in the bacon and egg breakfast burger was an amazing surprise.
Would recommend as an experience to heritage manufacturers also.
P. D.
Great feel, beautifully restored to maintain original structures etc.
Yummy food- perfect variety. Looking forward to returning.
B. E.
Very good cafe serving coffee that is spot on and the food is impressive.
Nice ambience and looks great.
Staff are welcoming, friendly and I'm always satisfied after a visit here☕
O. B.
Top breakfast, highly recommend.
M. A. P.
This hidden spot is brilliant! What a good vibe and food!
B. G.
Very nice ambience and food was delicious
s. f.
started working in this area and was brought here by work mates.
Old converted factory. Cool Place and is very typical of Melbourne Lane way joints. I've only had coffee and Tea here but the quality is good!
A. W.
Converted from an old warehouse, the choice of decor and atmosphere feels like Melbourne through and through. The coffee comes from Proud Mary and makes for a good reason to visit.
The kitchen seems quite small compared to the seating available so be warned, if there are a lot of people already inside, your meal might take a while.
J. G.
Great quality food and really nice atmosphere. I love coming here. Service is really welcoming too.
S. P.
I love this cafe. Consistently top quality coffee. Quintessential Melbourne vibe with laneway entry through huge double wood doors. Rustic interiors. The food is nice quality, and well presented.
N. A.
Great menu, great place. Tucked away from the commotion of the CBD
J. O.
Love the food and the decor here! Surprisingly not too crowded.
Food was good and the coffee I had, might be the best one I have during my time in Melbourne!
S. B.
Plenty and plenty of places to sit, have visited here on multiple occasions and have never had to wait for a table. The cafe itself is warm and the darkened lightning makes for a cosy atmosphere. Stacks of magazines and papers to read alongside tables. Staff are very happy to cater for any picky eaters or dietary requirements. I found that the menu was not a unique as I thought it might be, but nevertheless, the food was a decent price, delicious and the jar of water on the table was always replaced when empty, without me asking - which was lovely! Tough competition for it's neighbour, Rustica Canteen across the alleyway.
N. K.
Tasty breakfast food, a few vegan options which is great. A hidden gem down an aesthetic laneway, quintessentially Melbourne! Friendly and attentive staff and good coffee.
E. R.
Great coffee and extensive menu with breakfast and lunch options.
Also a good place for laptop work because I do it here
very often. No unnecessary disturbances. Lovely little cafe all in all.
D. C.
Great atmosphere and service plus mad food
J. D.
Coffee is great, love the decor inside. the food menu is a bit too complicated. would be good if it was a bit more simpler. Good place for group outings.
A. S.
Great coffees and sandwiches. Not your typical sandwiches, very gourmet variety that'd be way too much effort to try replicate. Nice back alley location with high roof.
J. H.
Great little cafe, tucked away in one of those inner city alleys Melbourne is famous for. Good, reasonably priced and tasty food. I can recommend this place to anyone looking for a brunch/lunch any day of the week.
L. E.
Down an old-timey London-esque lane hides this little gem of a cafe. Secreted behind wooden warehouse doors straight out of the early 1900s, this converted warehouse space offers delightful menu options and delicious coffee. If you're a bacon and egg roll enthusiast like myself, highly recommend this as a way to start your weekend. Soft brioche bun, melted cheese, perfectly fried eggs, tastey bacon and a relish/aoli combo, it will leave you with a dilemma of whether to be sensible and walk away or just be that gluttonous and double up!
A. W.
Coffee was very good and the place looked really nice. Food took a while to come out. My meal (bqcon and egg sanga)was good but my friends got the pumpkin soup, mushroom sanga and fried chicken and said they were a bit bland. Would still recommend.
N. K.
Great coffee and croissant
M. C.
Good menu, atmosphere, service and coffee. I would just avoid the waffles as they are a bit dry
V. H.
Amazing coffee, food was beautiful, and not overpriced at all! Great spot.
J. H.
It's definitely a nice place for brunch: relax atmosphere, newspapers and magazines, and friendly and helpful staff. We shared the burger (pretty big) and had good coffee and tea. I would recommend a visit.
E. L.
Fantastic. Eggs here were amazing.
I live a grand total of 2 minutes away yet I've never been to this place. It was pretty hidden and I've never noticed it. Nevertheless, the food here is fantastic. Great coffee too! Highly recommended.
T.
Good food overall but took way too long to come, almost 20 minutes.
A. R.
This alleyway is beautiful. Cafe was gorgeous, staff friendly.
M. S.
The hostess was amazing.
I ordered lamb skewers and it was delicious with the Morrocan couscous. They have Gluten free options.
Atmosphere was lovely. Good for group or couples.
a. b.
A real hidden find. It always looks like its shut from the lane but always try the door....
Great coffee, probably my favourite in the CBD with amazing cakes and food.
Super lovely and friendly staff.
K. T.
Krimper Cafe never disappoints. I have been getting my brekfast there for many years now, when I only travel to Melbourne. Great coffee, amazing food and friendly staff.
J. W.
Was ok. Had the salmon salad. All fine. Bit noisy though, and why have specials on a chalkboard that you are sold out of. The whole point of the chalkboard is you can change the content (and how do you run out of pretty much all he specials at 12.45 on a Wednesday??)
I. E. B.
I consider this place one of Melbourne’s hidden secrets! A very warm place for a meal & drink! Welcoming vibes and friendly staff!
And yeah ... a futuristic graffiti at the entrance!
호. 여. 옥.
Just go and enjoy. One of the best cafes in Melbourne!
V. S.
Been coming here on and off for a year now and the coffee, service, and atmosphere is still incredible. Staff are friendly and the lighting is perfect for a more relaxed and professional coffee date.
s. s.
Good coffee, good food, really cozy/industrial atmosphere
R. Y. X.
Nice food & coffee.
A. E.
Gorgeous fitout and top notch meals. Nice selection of filter coffee too. Warm and cosy and one of my favorites!
M. B.
Brilliant food and gorgeous coffee in a building that's so magical. Treat yourself...this is one of Melbourne's best cafes but is still down to earth enough to concentrate on quality and service.
R. C.
I was hungry as heck, for some ridiculous reason all the cafes in Melbourne are closed on Saturdays and the three that are open were too busy to seat us. And then, in desperation, whilst wandering the streets dying of starvation, this cafe appeared in a golden beam of light with a chorus of angels and presented me with the best gosh darn muffin I have ever eaten.
Lovely decor, stupid box in the middle, friendly and helpful staff, haven't tried the food yet but going on muffin, it's gonna be great.
A. K.
One of those classic Melbourne inner city Laneway Cafe. Only branding is a little sign above a large wooden unmarked door.
Love the environment here, exposed brick and ceiling, still warm on cold days.
Unfortunately a bit of construction out the font made it hard to get to and a little quieter than normal, and whilst the service is exceptional and the food delicious, it does take quite a while to be to arrive (approx 30mins).
K. K.
Great food, fab room, excellent service. It's a bit pricey, so I was surprised to see so many uni students there. I have been a few times and intend to go many times more.
C. d. J. (.
Trendy cafe tucked away in a laneway. Nice relaxed atmosphere with a unique style inside and out. One of the largest cafe's in the city. Always good when looking for a place for a large group.
C.
I ordered the corn fritters they where delicious 🤤
Staff were friendly and meals came out fairly quickly also.
C.
Coffee was nice❤️
V. W.
Really like it! The food was actually an experience not just the taste and was presented beautifully! The prices are reasonable and the actual cafe is really stunning. Can't wait to go back!
M. L.
Great coffee and food within a warehouse atmosphere hidden down small lane. Great find.
T.
Really nice atmosphere and portion sizes that, for me, are just 'spot on' - not too big, not too small. Good coffee, great food and warm service.
K. D. (.
Atmosphere is super cosy and most things on the menu taste great, but don't order ice matcha lattes here it comes in a small glass milk bottle with straight cow's milk and matcha powder floating on top... oh and half the bottle is ice.
Nevertheless I'm coming back for the french toast and black sesame smoothies.
D. H.
Krimper gas a great atmosphere, and the service is always friendly, and mostly fast (had to wait a while for our food last time and it wasn't that busy). Specials are always something good so make sure you check the board.
M.
Really lovely cafe in the delightful Guildford laneway. Coffee was great, food also great and really friendly staff!
T. T.
Nice place, bistro-like. Ordered their batch brew enjoyed it so much. However did not order their foods. Maybe next time should try their foods.
C. P.
'Twas a delight to share a coffee with a long, lost, dear and reveared friend. Great atmosphere where again life came to a standstill, this time but for a few yet monumental moments. May peace and happiness be with you 🌻
r. p.
Very welcoming staff and nice customer service with good food!!😊 loved the service.
A. H.
Great food and great coffee! Will be back to try more stuff :) portions are pretty big so it’s worth the money
R. M.
Great coffee, menu and atmosphere
B. O.
Very nice place great food lovely staff ,nice art on the street lane . Recommend 👍
J. L.
Lured here by the promise of chocolate pancakes, this doorway reveals a converted warehouse with many interest points. Be greeted by vertical bike racks as you enter and take in the cascade of balloons that cover the ceiling. We also loved gazing out at the street art while perching at our vantage point.
Any place that serves Mork hot chocolate is an indication of good food to come. The chocolate pancakes with banana cream, choc berry compote and edible flowers was rich, scrumptious and sooo filling. The much loved smashed avocado and poached eggs was done well to a satisfied palette. Left in time before food coma set in...
Spacious and rustic with truly friendly staff happy to have a little chat, this place deserves a visit in the hipster Guildford Lane full of other gastronomic delights.
j. L.
This place is very Melbourne with a rustic yet uplifting atmosphere - great place to show off great food & coffee to visitors that want to experience something unique. Definitely one of my faves!
S. P.
I love going to this place when near Melbourne Central. Coffee is great!! It's amazing to take your mates through the back door and see how amazed they are when they enter the place, if they have not been there before.
R. M.
Delicious coffee. Great ambience and service. One of my regular spots for coffee during the week. Oh and their hot chocolate and soy chai lattes are YUM!
E. B.
Cloistered down the stylish laneways of the city, Krimper has earned its place on the cafe hit list.
It lovingly brews hidden soul with big warehouse vibe but still lacks that X-factor we're all on the hunt for.
Still a solid 4.
L. L.
professional flat white, old building style decoration, green plants surrounding
l. m. w.
Amazing food and coffee. Excellent presentation. Waffle and bacon so lovely! Lovely funky decor.
R. K.
It's a little bit hidden but service is fast and food is tasty. The space is comfortable and all day breakfast is a bonus.
T. B.
Love the cozy atmosphere. Coffee is great
T.
Good atmosphere. Coffee is tasty. Little bit dark so if you want to have sun, not suitable.
R. R.
This place is a hidden treasure next the 300 Latrobe. People those who knows this place find this as a hideaway from normal office space. This replaces the normal working desk for those know well. Coffee and meals are great.
A. P.
I love Krimper... Great coffee. Great food. Sometimes, service can be slow. But if you're not in a rush, it's worth the wait!
T. N.
Excellent coffee. Pleasant staff. Interesting cafe
J. P.
Good quality food, although small portions
A. K.
They've got good breakfast food (as well as great baked goods) and while I'm not a coffee person, my partner is, and he said this was some of the best coffee he had in Melbs. Which is saying something.
K. R.
Great place for lunch or a coffee or a work meeting. Love the food, friendly staff, laid back atmosphere. Been here many times for work meetings or just a lunch.
N. O.
Chick place, cozy atmosphere, and great taste. I am looking forward to going back again.
T. W.
Great friendly service. Nice warm venue. Food was fresh and yummy but lacked the creative flare many Melbourne cafes offer.
P. C.
That wonderful French chef - Frederic Darme - yet again amazes with his delicious food! Thanks Fred, Melbourne is blessed to have you!
A great hidden gem that even had bike parking for us. A++
J. C.
Original. Clean environment. Quiet area. Lovely food. Would recommend them to develop more vegetarian dishes but without onions and garlic.
G. H.
Cool looking warehouse cafe with great food, coffee and service.
J. B.
Cool laneway location. Friendly staff. Good coffee. Interesting food (I had the prawn salsa eggs benny)
A. _.
Unique place! Its a bit hidden, but you want regret. Loved the coffe, eating also delicious. And you can see some gourgeus waiting staff ladies in there!
P.
Coffee was great. Waffles with egg and bacon was really good.
a. p.
Love this place!!! Service is above and beyond, the atmosphere is really cool and the food is both yummy and interesting. Hidden away in a back lane, finding it is half the fun.
K. S.
Amazing historic alley cafe, make sure you grab a loaf of bread on your way out too
S. M. N.
Great coffee, a really smooth drink for both the iced latte & flat white (You can almost gulp it all down)
L. S.
Definitely my favorite place cafe in the city
K. M.
Lovely warm atmosphere, it's not a place you go to if you're pressed for time. It's a place where you can have a good catch up and enjoy and just take it all in...a gem in the middle of the city.
D. T.
Quite a trendy little place. They weren't too upset when I brought in sushi to eat for lunch. Nice coffee and unique location.
S. D.
The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is great. It’s such a cozy place to go and have your coffee in there
R. T.
Great coffee. The beans had a nice smooth caramel taste. French toast was the best. Will do again.
D. C.
Great place in a funky alley way, the coffee and light breakfasts I've had there never disappoint
A. A.
Hidden gem. Good coffee. A little bit darker for someone like me that likes a brighter setting but regardless still love the place.
A. W.
I don’t understand how it has so much business when I could only find this cafe accidentally. It’s like finding Narnia in an alley. I assume it’s because of the amazing food and coffee.
S. H.
Great food & service, soy coffee was ok. But set in a lush green laneway that reminded me of Amsterdam.
F. H.
Only experienced Krimper during a networking function, but love the food and particularly their unique atmosphere. Do yourself a favour and explore it. I know, I will.
C. L.
Nice high ceilings, great space for casual chats or taking calls from
i. i.
Generous portion and good coffee! Another place for a plate of great corn fritter!
S. (.
Really nice food and great coffee. Its a lovely little hidden away gem with a great atmosphere and space.
G. M.
Tucked away in a lane, nice wood and metal barn decor. Slow service. Food only average.overall nice but could do better.
C. H.
Nice place great menu and food and juice was delish but no wifi and was hoping to do some work shame as would go again but as someone travelling who needs to work no wifi means no can go again.
P. H.
From outside it just looks like a warehouse door, but inside the atmosphere and food is amazing. Great coffee too!
R. E.
Worth checking out for the architecture alone. The green laneway location is superbly Melbourne and the food is great to boot.
B. S.
Great coffee, and food, generous serves and good vego options. Cool setting, in an airy, converted factory, exposed bricks etc
R. S.
Sedate in the mornings and good for working or casual meetings. Busier at lunch but still not over the top. A little inconsistent with the food sometimes but staff are good.
J. K.
Delicious food, cozy vibes, friendly staff

S. L.
Staff excellent and food brilliant a must just to enjoy the converted warehouse and fabulous furniture!
E. K.
Nice food and great coffee. Cold building. Hidden laneway cafe.
M. M.
Can't understand why they don't serve food right up until closing time. Close the door and clean up when your customers have left.
N. L.
A little tucked away entrance, opening into a cavernous warehouse! Krimper continues to surprise with gorgeously plated meals and quiet workspaces.
K. M.
Quite a nice and trendy cafe in a quiet spot off Lonsdale St. Coffee is great and food is a high standard.

E. C.
