Very well priced cafe. I got the zucchini fritters which I thought were a tad stale but other than that it tasted good. Friendly service. Plenty of parking around.

Customer service was clunky and inefficient. I acknowledge staff shortages due to covid but even when we did get served it was difficult and orders were slow. We both had the eggs Benedict with hash browns. The hash browns were bland and oily, the poached eggs and side of bacon were good but this was really let down by the hash browns and the general service. Overall, there are better places at the same price point in my opinion. It’s a shame as this place used to be a must visit.

Coffee was nice and creamy, with a strong rich flavour. It was a little to hot for my liking and the large size is like a medium anywhere else. Its been a few years since I've eating here but this place had the best pork belly scramble eggs. Will definitely have to come back soon for some breakfast.

We had the halloumi stack and apple cider Benny. Both were perfectly adequate brunch fair. The soft poached eggs were well cooked and the flavours blended together well. Loses a star because some of the finishing touches could’ve been better (e.g. the hashbrown was perfectly crispy on the outside but a bit mushy on the inside, the wilted spinach was well cooked but a bit on the oily side). Coffee was fine. Lovely ambiance and wait staff.

Great cafe with a lovely industrial atmosphere. The coffees are often good and they have quite a good range of food selection. The only downside is some popular dishes such as the Hash Brown Benny may get sold out early in the day.

I was staying at my friend's house and I came here as it was the closest cafe and had decent ratings. I came around 1015 on a Sunday. This place is pretty nice in a stand alone building with tables outside and out the back where the toilets are (although only one entrance and exit it seems like). There plenty of sitting inside so even in peak hour you should still find seats. There is only a few tables in the room next to the toilet with one bigger table. It's a well laid out cafe and doesn't feel too cramp. The coffee is pretty good too. I ordered a large flat white. The latte art is interesting, the art outline itself is not really distinctly though it's not exactly a heart as per my pic, but the surroundings background is a little rough looking. The coffee degradation test was actually quite impressive for a flat white as the art survived until towards the end. This is a good test to ensure that the bitterness does not enter so early without the foam and you can enjoy the art for the duration of the experience. The cafe accepts AMEX without surcharge which is great. The large flat white is at the upper end in terms of cost at $4.50. The coffee is decent so it's worth visiting if you're close by and too lazy to walk to the station with more competition.

We’ve been coming here for years and we’ve never been disappointed. This morning’s Sunday breakfast was the halloumi stack with poached eggs, avo and bacon on sour dough. So yummy!

Very glad to have come across this cafe for brekky. Delicious. To drink we got a capuccino, a chai and a choc milkshake, all three were fantastic. Then to eat, the pork scramble and haloumi stack were very well executed. The flavours there. Spot on. All staff very friendly. Sort of a hipster atmosphere. Want to come back to taste mor of their menu.

What a feed. Had the brisket burger which was amazing. Could not fault the burger and the meat was perfect. Friends had eggs benny on a huge hash brown which was super crisp on the outside. The other had haloumi and chorizo scrambled eggs which was the special of the day. Generous plate sizes and reasonably priced. All three dished were cleared from the plate sending nothing back to the kitchen. Will be back.

Quirky and cute little cafe. Busy and full of patrons on a Saturday morning! Service was enthusiastic and friendly, advise on menu there may be a 20 min wait for food. Somehow our coffees went missing and had to follow up our waiter. Meals are simple and delicious with quite generous servings. Definitely recommended and cute little artwork through the cafe - it is Mama Bear after all!

Veggie bowl here is wonderful. Veggie might sound a bit dull (what thought at first) but the taste combination of avo, homus and everything are so well balanced. Staffs are really friendly too. I've been to mama bear on a few occasions and each time we've been greeted with smiles and kindness. They are very accommodating when it comes to groups with children, and prams. Coffee is wonderful, and food is fresh. Great stop for a bite to eat and a catch up.

Great local food. Full of energy. Extremely busy as it’s on a main road. Staff seemed stressed and overworked. No greet on entry even on second visit despite passing several staff clearing plates. The service is the let down which is a shame. You will have to wait for the counter to free up to request a table. However the breakfast ....makes up for it! Lovely fluffy eggs, fresh avocado, the fritters are a must! Don’t expect your coffee order in under 10 mins and don’t go there if you suffer from headaches or are in any way impatient. Id still recommend a visit if your in the local.

Could not recommend a better place to go for brunch! The place itself has a warm cosy atmosphere, backed up with delicious food, top coffee and great customer service. Great menu options and great staff. The staff know their menu and can help you make your selection. For example, I tried to order a eggs with greens with spinach on the side. The waiter suggested that there would be enough spinach in the greens and that I wouldn't need spinach on the side, and he was right. They are quick to take your coffee order since they seem to be aware that everyone needs a coffee for a morning order. I did find the coffee to be a little weak, but it did have a great flavor.

Good food and atmosphere was noisy and busy on a sunday brunchtime with friends. Was a bit odd that my friend rang and booked a table for us but when we arrived they said they dont take booking for a weekend?? We were there today as we had driven 4 hours for an appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and hadn't eaten since 6am that morning. 5 of us walked in not realising they were not far off closing time but they were more than happy to cook meals for us. They didn't know our story and didn't know that 3 of us had a 4 hour drive home. So i highly recommend Mama Bear 😍

Their own crispy hashbrowns that came with the perfectly gooey eggs benny was amazing, probably best to order another dish and share with another person. Changed the hot tumeric latte to an iced latte, worst decision ever made as it tasted just regular cold milk with some colouring. Skip this and save your money :(

Good little local place with a variety of menu options. Service was ok but the food seemed to take a long time to come out from the kitchen. My biggest criticism of the food is that the greens were very oily, I ordered the vegan bowl (not its real name). I have noticed a trend in Melbourne where they use excessive oil in Vegan dishes so this criticism isn’t restricted to just this location but unfortunately it is the reason why I would reconsider going there again.

I walked through the doors of the Mama Bear Cafe in Flemington tired and weary, after having done a all-night shift at the Royal Women's Hospital as a Social Worker. I ordered myself the Big Mama Bear Breakfast and sat myself down in corner with a soy late. I found the dish to be terrific: from the poached eggs, the tomato, spinach, bacon, the mushrooms (which had a lovely seasoning of what I thought to be smoked paprika).

Delicious brioche French toast with Mars Capone, fresh berries and a touch of lifting fresh mint swayed me to 5 stars. The coffee (soy flat white), while slightly dampened in flavour for my taste, was expertly frothed. Getting soy milk right isn't always easy and the barista here nailed it. It's a local community café so expect toddlers and other small humans. I like that atmosphere, so long as the architecture muffles the intermittent screams of "no!" enough, which it does. The staff were all onto it and smiley. Good stuff. Mama Bear is, as things stand, my favourite café in the Flemington area.
