One of my favourite breakfast spots in the CBD.
I always come back for their Avocado Toast, which is served over beetroot hummus, whipped feta, tomato, almond dukkah & a poached egg.
I just love the dish's presentation and how everything goes well together.
Their coffee is a hit and miss tho.

Good reliable breakfast and coffee. (And the food came out fast and hot! Unlike a more famous one around the corner I tried…). Mainly outdoor table seating, with some bench style seating inside.

Excellent service.
Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The sweetness feels purely organic with the fruit and syrup, just the right amount. This is the definition of simple feel good waffles 🤤
My friend and I requested a share plate and another set of cutlery to this single serve dish and the cafe took the extra step of care by surprising us with beautifully decorated plates for each 🧡

This has been our fav spot pre-covid however we after lockdown when we ordered smashed avo we found it different, previous version I’d say was much nicer and more flavour. it had beets hummus and this one is rather simple.
Nonetheless love the place and coffee is always great!

The best eggs ben I have ever tried in Melb. Up til now, nothing else matches their rich and creamy hollandaise for me. Flat white also gooood. Prices are reasonable. Definitely a must try when in CBD.

Friendly, efficient service and a nicely rounded menu. Coffee was great!
We have the omelette (usually served with toast, but we opted out). And the corn fritters. The latter was a really hearty breakfast option!
S. G.
We ordered the Fritters dish and Soba Noodles w/ chicken on the side, then finished it off with their house-made dessert, Panna Cotta. We loved it! The dishes were fresh and delicious. The dessert was especially tasty. The vibe of the place is iconic. The staff were really friendly. Will eat here again.

Easy 4. Another cafe with a cute name. Love the name, love the sign. I had to go. It’s certainly a cute open buzzy little space here off busy Degraves St. Extremely likeable. There’s a small number of spots inside including some rather fetching mini booths and a counter area with multiple seats. From there one can admire the creamy exposed wood finishes in the interior. If you’re not happy with that you’ve always got the Degraves St outside option. You can people watch on both spots. I’d had some dental trauma today so no long black today unless I was happy to risk burning and/or dribbling. After careful consultation, I went with the yummy choccy milkshake in the mason jar thingy. I’ve rarely made a more astute choice. This milkshake was lovely. Nice flavour, nice temperature, nice ice cream. It wasn’t sickly sweet either, my main fear in ordering the thing. It was terrific. The price was low too, I thought.
I spent a happy 20-25 minutes here. It was very pleasant. Service was adorably good throughout. A cheery hello, a nice word or two throughout, a polite enquiry about mh experience and a warm goodbye. Really, what more could you want. What good staff. Nice place. I’ll be back for more.

DeGraves Street is always guaranteed great food and Mock Turtle is definitely well placed in this alley! Cute, cost outdoor seating that is perfect for people watching and a yummy all day breakfast menu that will leave you salivating! Great coffee and my Eggs Benedict was so delicious! The Fritters also looked delicious, I would come back for those. Well priced and friendly staff.

Mock Turtle is located in the heart of the CBD where other great cafes are located, there were a few seats available, and service was quick except when the meal was coming took a fair while. The eggs were great, loved how perfectly salted they were but bread was a bit stale. Other than that the vibe was lively and cozy.
T. A.
Really great vibe and very good food and coffee. Service is slow, took quite a while for food and coffee to come out, but we weren't in a rush. We had Brekkie burger and Byron Granola. Very good food!

Cosy place to sit down to immerse yourself with the hustle and bustle of melbourne. Decent coffee, though the kitchen may need to put in more effort in their food. Presentation was good but my bun, sausage and bacon (brekkie burger) all tasted a bit burnt. My wife ordered the corn fritters, it would be a good dish for kids but lack taste and tasted pretty bland.
B. J.
Pretty good food and service in terms of value and quality. Warm and cozy seating with heaters close by. Espresso was a bit tart and not as smooth as I like but that's just a personal preference. I'd still recommend this place though.
T. K.
A very nice brunch cafe at the popular ‘tourist lane’. Thoroughly enjoyed the Ham Eggs Benedict and coffee. Although there were a lot of people on the lane, the cafe vibe was fantastic.
K. P.
Had the most delicious lunch here. Ordered the vegan roasted cauliflower with quinoa and beetroot hummus. Absolutely divine. Great coffee and friendly service. Will definitely be back.
J. T.
I would rate this place as 3.5 stars. The staff was friendly, the location is great and the food was tasty. I ordered eggs, toast, mushroom and bacon and it was good except the sour dough bread was a bit burnt around the edges. The French toast was tasty, a nice portion and came with strawberries and ice cream. The edges were also a bit burnt.
R. J.
Definitely better coffee in Melbourne but all food that left the kitchen looked nice.
S. I.
Good service. Great food. Quite a few vegetarian/vegan options. I had the pumpkin smash and it was very tasty
S.
Good for value, service was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and good portion.
M. L.
This is so good! Staff are super super nice, and food is delicious. Price is quite reasonable. Eggs Benedict is very good! Thanks for the meal!
D. T.
Cozy place, super friendly staff, delicious food. It keeps the average price in this street. Good place to go. Kind of squeeze inside, but a great atmosphere outside. A must go!
D. O.
Absolutely fantastic. Waitress was so nice and friendly and food was fantastic. Can't wait to go back. Would recommend the French toast and the breakfast burger
K. B.
Great place. Lovely coffee and eggs Benedict my favourite from the entire city. Lovely fresh brioche bun and perfect hollandaise sauce
T. O.
Had breakfast at this super busy cafe in Degraves.
Coffee was nice, service was good. Only complaint was the toast was quite over done under my scrambled eggs with bacon. Tasted really good, but a little hard to chew through the bread.
Worthy of 4 stars still.
A. E.
So cute I love it so much here!! Such lovely staff and quality food 10/10
S. E.
Great location and super easy to get to, the staff are super friendly and attentive. If you're looking for an amazing almond latté like I always am, this is the place to go. The food here is also brilliant I had the scrambled eggs, with sourdough and added bacon. For $4 to add bacon you get an amazing amount, all of which is cooked to perfection (best scrambled eggs around) love eating here when I visit Melbourne. Thankyou for being amazing
H. H.
We walked in with no reservations and they gladly took us in. Ordered eggs benny with bacon and my friend had eggs benny with mushrooms. Did not disappoint! It’s all you could ask for in a good old classic eggs benny 👌🏼
M. G.
Lovely table service and an interesting menu to select from. The dish I got, fritters with house cured salmon, was absolutely delicious. Fun to sit outside in the alleyway but seating can be a bit of a squeeze. Worthwhile brunch spot to try on any given day!
M. C.
food is fine, inside seating area too tight.
J. C.
Mainly just go here to coffee and theirs is definitely some of the best in the area. Would recommend. They have small indoor seating that is mostly suitable for one or two per party otherwise outdoor tables in the laneway, with heaters. You can order coffee in advance with Hey You. The wait isn't crazy on weekdays but sometimes on the weekends when they're swamped it can take a while.
M. N.
This cute cozy condo style cafe serves nothing but the best quality food and coffee on Degraves in the heart of Melbourne food life.
Their coffee is a blend of South American beans with a nutty scent and a berry tingle at the end of your first sip. By far the best coffee on Degraves.
The view from inside is warm and somewhat sheltered from the bustling lane way, which is nice to relax and enjoy your brew. Inside is great for individuals and pairs, whilst outside caters for groups of three or more comfortably under heated lamps.
The food is spectacular and has a garden-to-table freshness. Vegetarian, vegan and sustainable friendly.
If you find yourself strolling through Degraves stop in or grab a coffee to go at the very least. You won't regret it.
Yours sincerely,
Another melbourne coffee addict.

Good location. Magic mushroom just not like the name .... bit disappointed would love to try other vegetarian options.
C. S.
🌱 plant based milks, plant based (vegan /vego) options available and gluten free options too.
💰 Coffee: $3.80 | Smashed Avocado: $18.50

Mock Turtle is my personal favourite within Degraves (the ultimate tourist cafe lane within Melb CBD). Their take on smashed avocado is interesting, they have good coffee and the inside is supposed to look like a turtle (personally, don’t see it.) The staff are always attentive, fast and happy to help out. I've never had to wait for a table here but can't speak for the lunchtime rush hours.
J. &. D. C.
Friendly staff. I had the yummy breakfast burger - the citrus hit in the avocado brought the burger to a whole new level.
Hubby had the Mock turtle Classics - very carefully prepared dish. Well seasoned and everything cooked just right, at the same temperature when served. Not an easy feat.
L. B.
Little disappointed with the food portions, $14 for a sandwich that I ate in less than a minute thinking it would be sizable.
Soy mocha was awesome
Nice vibe for a Wednesday morning, hard to kick off a chill vibe mid week. Cheers for the hospitality
L. C.
The toasted ciabatta with chicken, bacon tomato etc was perfect. Bread was toasted to a nice crunchy state while the ingredients were all fresh ie not one of those sandwiches thats squashed flat in a press. Coffee was good and water was provided on the side. Staff seemed well trained, helpful & polite. Nice experience thanks.
J. H.
Such a cute little cafe on Degraves! We always go for the eggs benny but the menu is full of great classic brekkie options.
S. W.
Nice ambience and atmosphere, friendly staff, can be crowded though, good coffee but often not warm/hot enough especially in cold morning.
I. N.
Love the interior layout and general feel of the cafe space. Coffee is nice and staff is friendly. Although there are wall seats they are hard to fit into a they are smallish.
D. N.
Food is good in both quality and quantity
T. S.
I understand they are on the cafe lane and probably busy. However, 10mins waiting for just one take away coffee is kinda too long
this is a small place and I saw 5-6 staff, but no one even coverd up the barista.
T. D.
Ordered using Hey You, lovely Chai Latte and Flat White, coffee isn't too bitter and order was ready for collection in 4 minutes. Thanks ☺️
R. M.
Got the veggie breakfast, good size and tasted amazing!
K. K.
Fabulous breakfast. Great way to start my day.
