Lovely cafe with good amount of space. I’ve had smoothies here before and quite enjoyed them. Pictured is a really yummy chicken coleslaw salad with a tangy, bright sweet/savoury dressing and crunchy topping. Recommend trying this out for lunch!

Located right behind State Library, they serve good selection of sandwiches, and coffee. I enjoyed the Reuben sandwich. Wouldn't say the same thing about their coffee, as it was average. Good place for a quick sandwich and a place to read a book.

After walking around library for 45 minutes needed a refreshment. All thought too warm for coffee so enjoyed some lovely freshly made juices with names appropriate to their location, at side of library, such as Pride and Predjuice (apple, watermelon and cucumber) and To Kill a Mockingberry (yes you guessed correctly). Nice decor with dark wood floors, white walls and old timey decorations. However the Richmond premiership posters detract from the look and actually cheapen the place a bit.

We hired the space at Mr Tulk for our wedding - for the intermission between the ceremony and reception. Michael was great. He were flexible and accomodating on what we wanted to serve in terms of food and drinks. We received so many compliments on how well the space worked as we had our wedding at the State Library. We can't thank you enough - and we definitely be back again to support.

Wonderful service, good coffee and delicious food. There really isn't anything to complain about this place. It's connected to the state library, so it's totally accessible from Melbourne Central, and is just a short walk away from QV and the tram stops. They do the usual brunch stuff, sandwiches, pastas, cakes, pasties and other cafe standard fare. I would totally recommend this place if you just want a place to sit around until your next movie, or just a place to meet up with mates for how spacious it is. Al fresco is available too for those rare beautiful days we get here in Melbourne <3

The quality of the food is good. I loved the pasta in a very simple dressing, along with the chicken schnitzel and calamari. The pork and veal meatballs were awesome too! I had the brilliant benedict and my friends ordered the mushroom and the great eggspectation. Mine was super rich, probably too rich. Hollandaise sauce on hashbrown, pulled pork and bacon. Would love more green to balance the meat and oil. The mashroom and polenta was delicious but compared to brilliant benedict, prob less filling. Service was good and the ambience was nice. Also great place for dining alone.

Surprised I didn't already have a review for this cafe. One of my favorite spots. Found it a few years back when I was working nearby. I highly recommend their Mediterranean Eggs (a baked eggs dish) and their Caesar Salad (goes really well with Samon in my personal opinion). Lovely place that is great for breakfast or lunch with friends.

Mr Tulk is in such a lovely location in the CBD with the option to eat outdoors and indoors. The food and coffee were quite good - the roast vegetables in the dish were SO flavourful id come back just for them. In saying that, it is pretty overpriced for the serving sizes and considering the location, you'll definitely be able to find a cheaper place with bigger servings.

It’s a very popular cafe for university students and professors. The state library is right next to it, so wifi works wonders. I would say it’s laptop friendly, not many plugs but still a few. Their menu doesn’t have many vegan options (I think just the avocado toast). Their chai latte is so tasty, love it! They also have fresh juices. The staff is very kind, young and helpful!

Great place to prep for Uni lecture, the wifi even reaches across the road! Good coffee, Friendly staff and spacious. With the virus ramping there is no one here! But it can get very noisy usually so not optimal for business meetings. But for some solo work, highly recommended.

What is it with Melbourne cafe's and charging an arm and a leg for sides? Seriously. For what you get it is way too overpriced and its a shame because its definitely tasty, but not at all worth the price. Otherwise, I really like this place. The location is great and the staff (especially the manager) are always very accommodating and you are never waiting long to be served. Definitely a must for RMIT students and nearby library goers.

I have a vision impairment. I went to this cafe and immediately I was helped by the staff. They pointed out stairs and railings, checked I could read the menu, bought the eftpos machine over when I said I was going to pay and overall were extremely helpful and nice. The food here is also really good, the location and atmosphere is very nice too. I recommend this cafe if you’re in the area and want a good meal and a good experience.

We came here for breakfast while visiting Melbourne, the staff here are so friendly and took very good care of us. Really nice outdoor area, the food is reasonably priced, nothing to write home about but is still good and tasty. I had the bacon and egg roll and my partner had the eggs your way and toast which she was disappointed with. This is nothing to do with the restaurant as she orders this everywhere we go and is constantly disappointed with the two eggs and toast that she orders and receives. Highly recommend for a chilled breakfast/brunch, newspapers on the table are a nice touch too.

Mr Tulk is a wonderful cafe located just across from RMIT University, in the Melbourne Library. The food here is so scrumptious and fresh. I have come a few times now and every time it is the same result. Customer service is superb, the waitresses are more than happy to assist and make you feel welcome. The food like I have said above is delicious, but it is always served to you in a timely manner and the presentation is perfect, the plates are always spotless. The atmosphere here is very edgy and funky, providing great vibes and the lemon water provided is a thoughtful and tasty touch. Coffee - The most important aspect of a cafe and a lot of cafes do get it wrong but not Mr Tulk. Every coffee I have ordered it is always the same result regardless how busy they are. Always perfect, never too hot or too cold, and I NEVER get that burnt after taste. AMAZING! Well done!

I come here regularly for coffee. Nice outdoor setting area, with a designated smoking area as well as a non smoking terrace. Plenty of indoor seating as well. Food is good and reasonably priced. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 starts is because staff can sometimes come across as unfriendly and disinterested.

3.5 Going to a library can be fun... Library is not my favourite place to spend time at, despite the historical, grand, old and beautiful State Library building that we are bestowed with.
