Comments of ONA Coffee Melbourne

Chill vibes, relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff. This place is also dog friendly so it's a great place to bring your furry friend to have brunch with you at a place that has its own coffee menu for the coffee fanatics.
We waited around 15 for a table outside and staff were very accommodating in suggesting we move the table onto the deck for a bit of shade which was a Lovely gesture.
We went with the special ham hock Benedict and corn fritters with a side of fried chicken which was absolutely delicious.
The chicken was juicy as and really went well with the smashed pea, hummius and corn fritters. The ham hock Benedict was also a gorgeous palette.
A variety of pastries and coffee beans were available inside for those who want something more. Would visit again and recommend checking this chill as coffee shop out.

If you are here for the milk based coffee, I have to admit it is a bit of pricey, almost the most expensive coffee in Melbourne. But if you are here to buy their beans, it is a perfect place.
The prices of the coffee beans are average among the specialty coffee roasters. And they do have some really good beans, definitely worth the price. I have purchased a few filter beans from here, so far so good. Very tasty coffee. One of my favorite roasters.
The pic is their special release, very tasty. If you like fruity, sweet and sour coffee, this is it.

great spot for coffee enthusiasts!
this spot a great spot for ur specialty coffees with such a huge range of coffee beans and different brewing techniques!
the staff was more than helpful when we needed to ask for further details and recommendations on the coffee!
slightly hidden away however all the locals know about this spot! definitely one to add to ur coffee list!

Came to ONA coffee this Saturday for brunch. Was impressed by their coffee menu which is clearly their speciality area. Unique blends and concoctions, many of which are presented in a wine list style hardback book. Coffee prices are on the high end with a regular blend oat setting you back about $6-$6.50. The wine/coffee list options upon glance were about $12. I wasn't feeling bougie enough for that.
Had a maple iced oat which was flavourful. Partner got a gateway oat which he felt tasted quite average.
The food menu had some great sounding options. We opted for the corn fritters and the green chilli scrambled eggs. Overall on a baseline the dishes were good however tended to be on the dry side and were hungry for a bit of sauce or moisture filled veg to balance it out. The fritters did have some smashed peas and hummus on the side however both of these dips err on dry rather than moist. Both dishes were topped with a concoction of herbs and leaves. Nice upon the first few bites but was a little overkill particularly with what seemed to be chamomile flowers which really disturbed the taste buds after a few mouthfuls.
Staff were extremely lovely and decor was good. Nice for a couple of special coffees and perhaps a try of that chicken burger and French toast next time.

So glad to find Ona in Melbs! They're really busy on weekends but weekdays are perfect to slowly savour your coffee.
Extensive list of coffees with detailed tasting notes on the reserve menu for true coffee aficionados. So many types that it's hard to decide!
M. K.
In my opinion, this cafe is one of the best coffee shop in Melbourne.
We can choose the bean among a couple of kind of beans, I chose the one the staff recommended.
Its fruity coffee smells and tastes so amazing!
R. H.
A local favourite for many reasons. Top notch in all regards from the range & quality of coffee, atmosphere, and staff. In particular, Glen greeted me with a smile and had a great sense of humor as well as a perfect recommendation of the coffee.
T. K.
Good vibes, nice coffee! I'd recommend Black Betty hot coffee if you like coffee that taste like chocolates. Hotcakes with extra bacon also good combination. Staff were friendly but maybe they're too busy cause they forgot my waiting queue and one of my order.
i. a.
Very good coffee but the food menu is quite limited and my breakfast burger is just too much meat and no salad. Service is top and will only probably come back for coffee.
B. C.
Great coffee made by friendly people. Have been buying their coffee online for a while now, but this was my first visit to an Ona cafe. As expected, their Raspberry candy is a sensory experience - naturally, better than I make it at home! They do have a simple brunch menu, but really, this is all about splendid coffee. Highly recommended when you’re north-side.
S. T.
Great venue. Very chilled. Staff are attentive. Both food and coffee are excellent.

CASUAL CHILLED OUT BRUNCH SPOT
Great spot in Brunswick for coffee and brunch.
Interesting menu with some Asian influence.
I ordered the white coffee in Raspberry Candy, one of the signature blends from ONA. SO GOOD.
Food was amazing too, I got the Bibi-bowl (like a Buddha bowl but with Korean ingredients) with fried egg and fried chicken. The fried chicken so yummy and I love the Asian spiced batter.
I also enjoyed the interior by Breathe Architecture
Will be back for more food and coffee
F. A.
Great and excellent coffee. The place has plenty of seats. The options of coffee that available is great. You won’t stock to one or two types of beans which is excellent and quite rear to find in other coffee shops. Especially a well-known roster like ONA you wish to try few beans before you buy any of them from the shelf. Also, as they are an incredible coffee roster doesn’t mean they don’t have great options of foods and sweets, which they do and you can enjoy your excellent coffee with good choices of food as well.
R. S. (.
Hands down to the best coffee in Melbourne.
This is the real specialty coffee that serve the best. You got so many choice for coffee and good food to eat.
W. W.
I woke up violently hungover this morning, and the thought of going to a Cafe frankly seemed like too much effort.
But boy does this place hit the spot! Three meals later I return home utterly satisfied.
We loved all the open space when we sat out the front, so many cafes these days are packed in with very little room to move.
Food and drink is brilliant. Would definitely come back.
C. f. N.
awesome cafe with their outdoor seating especially if the sun is shining. coffee is great but didnt even realise they had a pretty awesome brekky/lunch menu too. team are super friendly and welcoming too, keep it up team 👍
M. A.
My first visit to Ona Coffee was excellent, well organized triage counter out front, seated quickly, super friendly staff, dog friendly! The coffee options are a coffee lovers delight!
The hitman brew was perfectly balanced and smooth, which is very difficult to find in Melbourne at times, compliments to the barista! I enjoyed the miso cauliflower dish, full of nutrition and presented well. I'll be back for coffee soon.
D. L.
They have plenty coffee beans flavours...I enjoy my raspberry candy 🤤

We came here after the hype had died down a bit and so we were happy to see that we didn't have to wait for that long to grab a seat. We were seated inside very quickly and given menus.
We ordered our coffee, the process takes a while, these guys pride themselves for what they do and it shows, it is truly exceptional. It was amazing being able to choose from such a variety of good coffee and so we ended up over ordering and over caffeneiting. The espressos were great and the filters too and well explained by the staff (maybe a bit too much).
Sadly our experience was not the same when it came to the food. The fried chicken roll was underwhelming, nowhere near the price tag, and presentation was far from their pics you might see on the gram, the bread was overtoasted and generally disappointing. The miso cauliflower was delicious, it was well cooked (not overcooked and/or mushy) but we were left wanting more. A slight more addition to the serving would be just perfect.
And just because we didn't have enough coffee, we took one away too. The price tag for take away coffee is very high. We didn't mind paying 28 dollars for a coffee to dine in understanding the overheads and service etc but for take away it's a bit pricey.
Service is so warm and friendly but, unless you don't mind spending the money, unlikely that you will make this your everyday takeaway coffee spot.
T. K.
I have to agree one of the best coffee shops in Melbourne. Friendly and helpful staff. Love the variety of fresh beans and that you can have them ground to use and home.
C. R.
Love the outdoor setup and good coffee , food- become a true local favourite in the busy Brunswick cafe scene ; but what keeps bring us back is the staff and service . Glenn , thank you for always being super friendly and kind , always a pleasure to have a great conversation and share a little laughter. Thanks again and will be back soon ! 😀
I. B.
Great coffee and delish chicken sandwich. Great to sit out on the deck.
D.
Fantastic coffee, interesting food and a great vibe all round. Can't say I tasted the flavours specified for the coffee, but hey, it tasted fantastic regardless
J.
This is a great place, the coffee is amazing and the variety of coffee available is quite unique. the service has been outstanding every single time i have been there. I haven't tried the food yet but this is something i am looking forward to do soon.
J.
The coffee experience is amazing, you can discover very special flavour from your coffee. I love it!
If the staff can be more welcoming and reactive it’ll be perfect!
D. T.
Nice vibe and great specialty coffee
N. W.
Amazing venue, top notch quality, great service by Glenn and even better coffee by Jerome
A. D.
This place is fantastic, the staff are amazing, the food is great and the coffee is excellent. These guys know their beans. I love the desgin of this place, especially the bar.

Nice location and friendly staff. The menu doesn't offer much choice, but what they serve is delicious. If you are a coffee lover, this is a good place where to try the cold Brew coffee.

You know, this is — excuse me — a damn fine Bibi bowl! … Now, I like mine with fried chicken. I know, don't tell me; it's hard on the arteries, but old habits die hard — just about as hard as I want that crunch. Edamame, super-crispy. Almost pops in my mouth. Delicious. It's great. And, I love the kimchi, just as long as the gochugaru…is hotter than a Friday night.
C. B.
Fantastic coffee, love the food, and the staff have always been super friendly and helpful.
C. M.
Knowledgeable staff, great playlist, airy atmosphere, insane selection of beans - methods - styles of coffee to enjoy.
M. P.
Coffee is great and so is customer service, very lovely staff. You get to chose your coffee blend to your taste. Have never tried their food.
E. D.
Delicious coffee in an awesome setting! Devon was particularly helpful and hospitable!
L. I. S.
Amazing coffee. Nice ambiance. Staff are really nice and informative. Deserve a 5 star.
D.
New venue is wonderful. I didn't eat here today, but the menu was pretty simple, so I don't really want to.
Coffee itself (Black Betty) was good - as expected of the ONA brand, but I can see why many would prefer it hotter.
Price - too high for Brunswick.
Service - average.
As in Canberra, still won't tailor a drink and think they know better than subjective personal preference...
Flat-out refused to make a Melbourne standard beverage.
J. N.
Two visits now and food is amazing. Fantastic coffee and great food...will be back
M. M.
Absolutely flawless design, with a roomy yet comfortable interior. Very nice central bar setup.
Food is very good, with a range of unique and classic dishes for every palate.
The coffee is, as expected, special and incredible. The filters are delicious, and made with the utmost precision and care. So tasty.
Last but certainly the standout factor of this venue, are the staff. Maddy served our table today, and her warm greeting and excellent service left us with only the best impression of ONA Melbourne.
Cheers!
D. T.
Nice vibe and great specialty coffee
E. A.
My favourite coffee of all time, I always go for a flat white but I wish there is a consistency in the amount of coffee in it. Sometimes it’s perfect and other time it’s milky
F. H.
If you are not an expert in coffee world like me then you won’t like it 😁. Good service.
C. B.
Great service and atmosphere.
D. T.
I had no idea coffee could taste so good! I love coffee, ordered a long black, had a Nicaraguan - where have those flavours been all my life? We also ordered food, and that too did not disappoint. We will be back......often! Truly amazing experience!
P. C.
Some nice food
Coffee overpriced (most expensive in area) and was cold -and they have the nerve to refuse cash but add a surcharge for cards!
Staff way to “cool for school”
Better than 3 months ago (arrogant waiter so we walked out) Will try again in another 3 months
Meanwhile back to the competition
Steam Junkies, Home One, Kines or Lobbs
a. g.
Excellent coffee and friendly staff
P. R.
The most expensive coffee and brunch I've ever had (weekend surcharge, and the digital menu didn't tell us the real prices). Some people saying that these prices are justified only need to look at other nearby local businesses to see that this café is really pushing the far limit of acceptable charge. The venue is nice, the staff are welcoming, but the food is not worth coming back to given how many better options close by there are
S. E.
I love Ona coffee beans. The espresso blends are delicious and the staff are genuinely helpful in explaining what’s on offer and helping you work out what you will like best. Parking is a bit painful during the week so easier to drop in on a weekend.
N. S.
Service was great and very welcoming. Ordered latte and they have options of coffee blends, either you like the acidic side or chocolate-y side.
Food was okay.
E. O.
I can't tell you how happy we were to find out ONA set up shop in Melbourne. While other cafes might stock Ona coffee, nothing beats the experience of dining at ONA itself.
Coming from Canberra, we had high expectations and they were met.
As far as coffee goes, it's hands down our favourite - there's something for everyone.
Raspberry candy iced latte is our go to favourite, but we like to end the day with a Black Better or Hitman.
The food is well presented, well portioned and super tasty, again with something for everyone, the ggplant parma and The Fries are devine, and the breaky burger is absolutely phenomenal.
!!!!!FAMILY FRIENDLY!!!!!! YES YOU HEARD IT RIGHT. With high chairs available, a change table and kids menu to suit. Pram and wheelchair accessible.
The staff are incredibly kind and courteous, full of life and knowledge. You're able to have a selection of beans ground to your liking, and they're more than happy to help. There's also merch you can purchase and coffee essentials.
Do not pass this place by. But I do recommend checking out the parking situation as it can be difficult to find a park and one that's not going to get you booked while you enjoy a brew.
E. T.
Passionate people making coffee a whole new experience. Highly recommend, especially if you wanna delight your inner coffee geek. We always get beans to take home and, although it's taboo to most, I even love ONAs decaf. So anyone who can't have the caffeine but love and miss coffee, theirs would be my top decaf pick by miles.
a. c.
Coffee smorgasbord of excellence. The food's damn good too!
V. L.
Love RASPBERRY CANDY coffee! Dined in pre lock down and the food choices are a bit limited but pretty delicious. The fries are a solid 11/10 👍🏼 went back to get their coffee beans and I must say it taste delicious at home too
J. R.
lovely place with beautiful & cozy indoor and outdoor seating. super super friendly and knowledgeable staff who make the experience more than worth it everytime :) coffee is always made beautifully & never disappoints!
J.
One of the best coffees I’ve ever had in Melbourne... adding the attention of the guys which was extremely kindly, literally I have to say I will be back there soon and probably it become one of my favourite places in Victoria. I tried the Hitman coffee and the Tahini Cookie and was absolutely delicious...Btw all deserts are vegans “love it“ and I really liked the part when the barista served us the coffee and he explained how the flavours of the coffee would be... personally these kind of details which make you go back to the place. highly recommended ❤️
J. C.
Been wanting to try this place for ages. Delicious! Food was excellent and the coffee was amazing. Polite and friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Will definitely come back again
:-)
서.
What do I need to say. Specialty Coffee = Ona Coffee.
G. R.
Coffee was really nice but it took 15 min to get a small take away flat white at $6
Wouldn't have ordered if I realised it would take so long as I was late to work. A heads up when ordering would have been great
K. H.
Great coffee but using minor figures seems to show they haven't done their oat milk research. It's like the Carlton draughts of oat milk. Edit: ok one more star because I went back and their Cascara tea is awesome. Their oat milk still sh*t though.
O. M.
The coffee experience and delight is worth the price. We're paying for the craftsmanship of their team: roasters, baristas and wait staff.
L. B.
Premium coffee. The coffee is off chops. One of the best coffees I've had in Melbourne. However $7-8 for a coffee + weekend surcharge... Makes me want to make it a rare treat rather than a regular coffee.
T. T.
Ona has finally opened in Melbourne, and the delivery of excellence matches the flair and reputation with ease. This is coffee heaven! Note how the lesser reviews are all around cost. Ona isn't trying to be king of the house coffee 7-9am commuter run, where it's fine for people to be fussy over $1 or $1.50 here and there. No, this is ambitious in a good way. A long list of coffees and styles on offer including Reserve and special lots, a huge investment in premium equipment and real industry professionals on the tools. Top it off with a great retail section for beans and equipment, and Ona really has all bases covered to be an IDEAL destination visit and much loved local.
E. F.
The staff are soooo lovely, and the coffee... Hnnng.
Best avocado on toast I've ever had. Olive tapenade? Who would've thought! Willl be back as soon as possible 💗
M. C.
I love the coffee and staff here. It’s a really unique coffee menu and I love the building.
B. C.
Super friendly staff, great food and great spot for a catch up!
S. C.
Amazing coffee, with plenty to choose from. Everything from your everyday coffee to exotic and rare geishas would absolutely recommend if you're a coffee lover.
J. G.
Best iced latte I’ve had.
J. Z.
Great service and nice brunch dishes! Would highly recommend the raspberry candy. Great coffee beans they use.
S. H.
Great coffee and super friendly staff... make sure to bring your own keepcup as they don't have free takeaway cups ... I had my coffee there and it was really good... a bit more expensive than the other cafes in the area cuz they use high quality coffee beans
T. F.
My pick for when I need an amazing coffee while I get some work done. The design is also just wonderful to bask in as well.
T. C.
Very friendly staff and good coffee.
J. B.
Wonderful service & knowledge.
Asked me exactly what flavour l liked in a coffee. The 3/4 piccolo was perfect and the taste remained in my mouth & l kept licking my lips with joy.
D. M.
I am from Sydney normally go Ona in Marrickville that is excellent coffee however Ona Brunswick is much better in catering for seating service includes bigger menu and quality products and excellent service that I had with Glen I’ll be back for more next time I am in Melbourne keep it up Ona management for best quality organisation.
M. W.
At first when I heard it would be a 25 minute wait, I wondered how good it could be. But the wait was less than that and was handled well. Then I had the filter coffee and chicken roll and was VERY happy I waited. Very, very good.
G. S.
Glenn is always a friendly face at Ona, remembers my order and sometimes my name.
Great coffee and even better staff. Thanks guys.
A. S.
Tried their reserve coffee and loved every drip of it! Mushroom toastie with fior di latte was delicious too!
T. M.
Only able to experience a take away batch brew coffee over stage 4 lockdown but service by Devin was friendly and professional. I look forward to sitting down for a brew sometime in the future.
A.
It has pretty unique coffee albeit slightly pricy.
J. M.
Great food and coffee, but prices are too high, especially with the 10% weekend surcharge. Also had to wait for nearly 45 minutes for food to be prepared.
F. B.
Coffee as it should be. Well priced for this day and age - staff are attentive, professional, and knowledgeable. A step in the right direction for melbourne. Lots of love.
m. s.

Z. W.
The hot cake is really good
B. C.
Service slow, order was missed, but nice coffee. Management waivered the bill upon apology, not many businesses would do that.
M. C.
Looks good, interesting menu but small kitchen so we waited quite a while for food
S.
Brilliant coffee, but incredibly kind and knowledgeable staff who make coffee more accessible! So glad to have this as a local.
