Went on the 24th March 2022. Parma was tasty and cooked well. Chips included tomato sauce which is always great. Great atmosphere with pokies :)

Thursday 7PM, the bistro is mostly empty and no wonder why. Insane prices for a pub meal, more expensive than the average restaurant and servings are of very ordinary size. You will definitely not take home a doggy bag with leftovers. On a positive note the food was tasty and staff efficient. Poor value for money and I shall not return in a hurry.

First time visiting Rosstown Hotel and I must say it was fantastic. Had lunch with a group of people and meals were presented beautifully which made me salivate before tasting and flavoursome. Prices are a little expensive for the size of the meal. Gaming room large and bright with friendly staff. Definitely would visit again, even when I'm an hour away.

Dinner at the Rosstown is a pleasant experience in a large and comfortable bistro dining area with attentive staff. The meals were inexpensive and generous in size. I had a scotch fillet but erred with the oil garlic and chilli sauce. There was eight in our group and we all enjoyed our meal.

Food was average this time. Chicken Parma needed more flavour. Lacked seasoning as did the veg. But it has something for everyone and food comes out in a timely manner. Staff are polite especially the person checking vax certificates. He was very helpful

Certainly don't want to leave a lower review than three stars, as I've enjoyed many evenings in here sinking a few pints. The food really leaves a lot to be desired though. Eaten here twice, but both times have been pretty poor considering. The beef burgers in particular are truly abysmal. Awful tasting meat patties, hidden underneath a sea of slaw to attempt to mask the taste. The burgers on my last visit actually looked like two smashed meatballs plonked together, full of herbs but little other flavour. Really need to look at it guys, they are bloody awful burgers. Other pubs in the area have you comfortably beat for food and not sure I'll be returning for a meal in a hurry.

Went to the Rosstown with my family for an unplanned lunch. Considering just about every hospitality venue is short of staff, there didn't seem to be any issues here. Staff were quick to seat us, make us comfortable and tell us the specials. The food was delicious and ample. My parents had the calamari, it was huge! Cooked beautifully with 2 different flavour of seasoning. My brother had a burger, beautifully presented with chios and onion rings. He smashed it. My sister had the roast of the day and I had the ceasar salad. Both were very tasty. All up, I highly recommend you go for a visit and see yourself.

This place doesn't do drink specials or happy hour. Not good. Half the place is a pokies and the other half is a sports bar. Over $21 for a jug of VB, not on. Food is good though with large portions. Much bigger then you would expect from this place. This place had a nice fire place also. Not terrible but not amazing.

Went for Christmas lunch and was very impressed with the food and the way the staff handled a busy day and full house. The choices for lunch covered vegetarian and meat options. I had the seafood starter. The antipasto plate looked good. No one had the soup in our party. A selection of roasts with veggies was perfect for the traditionalist in out party. Kids had pasta first course and a burger and chips for main. I went with a steak was was not disappointed. It was perfectly cooked. Another member of our group went with the rissotto. Which was proclaimed to be very good. A desert buffet was a pleasure. Many choices including traditional steamed pudding and Christmas cake. Cheesecake in many firms, chocolate cakes and mouse. No trifle, but a giant croquembouche and tiramisu made up for it. Great quality.

great for work/family functions. they offer a nice and sophisticated menu. lovely ambience. drinks and food were great although did come at a steep price.would highly recommend coming to this place. waiters were nice and kind. they did forget a meal through a miscommunication but they did deliver it quick enough. good job.

Nice interior and warm environment. But there were very few options for vegetarians. The salad didn't sound appealing so I reluctantly ordered mushroom risotto. New, fresh options would be good and I'd be more likely to go back! Also the churros dessert serve was surprisingly massive! The menu needs some indication of just how big it is. Staff were friendly and attentive.

If given a choice I'd walk down the street to be awed by the vast selection of cheap eats but good quality. It is clean and modern looking. Live music may be heard on selected evenings. Very close to the train station so no need to come with your car. There's sections for family dining, outdoor area for a catch of the warm rays of sunlight, stools for peace and quiet drinking or tables for small to larger groups. Must come more often for the beers and socialising with friends.

Best pub in the south east. Good range of food, including tapas, normal bistro meals and a few things a little different. It could be viewed as a little pricey but the meals are normally pretty generous. Love their wild barramundi and their calamari duet. Keep an eye on the specials too.

Absolutely fantastic. This place is next level in terms of pub food. I had the spaghetti. It was the most authentic spaghetti recipe I have ever had. I literally felt as though I could have been sitting in someone's Nonna's kitchen overlooking the Mediterranean. I'm not a big eater, and the serving size was twice what I would normally eat, but I couldn't stop until I had finished. You have to try this place, like, right now. Stop reading this review and just go... right now...

This was a mixed experience. Granted we were quite a large group so that makes it more difficult but I wouldn't have thought a large party to be unusual in this venue. But we were all served at different times. A couple of people were served their entree and main at the same time. When they commented on that the waitress asked them if they wanted the main on the table at the same time. Would you? Then others of us had to wait ages for their order and had to ask about it. Bad planning in the kitchen? Better organisation needed? Kitchen would have been provided with dockets and table numbers so should have known it was a group. On the positive side the waitress who was a bit more mature had it together, checked on us and chased up our missing meals. Most of the wait staff were efficient and helpful. Plus we weren't charged any extra for serving up the birthday cake I had brought. With regard to the food I enjoyed my salmon and most of my guests seemed to enjoy their meals. Despite these complaints I would have been happy to leave a tip for the wait staff because I recognise that serving a group of 15 people (on two tables next to each other) may not be easy but there was no place to do that. I would go back in a smaller group but I think this occasion was 3 1/2 stars.

Only had dinner here once, but found the food to be of a standard quality for a pub feed. However, I've been here a few times for the trivia with friends and have always had a good time, regardless of whether coming first or last, it isn't really important as you still have fun testing your brain with the various rounds of trivia. Great hotel for fun. Both bar area and outside area are great but meals in the Bistro pricey for average food. Gluten free foods non existent even when they say they will make it to suit. They aren't interested in GF clients. So be it. But I still love the Rosstown as its got a great atmosphere. I just wont eat there anymore.

Reality is that this is not the kind of pub to bring the family if you don't have a booking in the bistro. The gaming room is quite derpressing and the bar TAB is good for blokes catching up with mates after the days work or sport. Don't get me wrong though the bistro looks great and food is awesome large plates so if your not that hungry go for the entree serves. The staff are really great as well Andrew at the bar was very knowledgeable and all round good chap also the bloke that was on with him was great too. Most times when staff came past they acknowledged us and asked how everything was. So 4.5 from me really if i was going to add any criticism it would be make the bistro larger or at least an offside area where families can enjoy ahhhhj but can't have everything.

Was a better atmosphere before the bar area was reconstructed. Went in there once after it was reconstructed and it was densely crowded with very little breathing space and seating. Despite this, I was able to find a carpark. It's changed too much for me to enjoy it like I use to.

The Rosstown Hotel is a great venue for group events! It has a friendly, warm atmosphere and the staff are very accommodating. There’s a large variety of meals, and the outdoor space is great, even in Winter as heaters are provided.

The Rosstown is great. There's an area for everything - whether you're interested in pokies, casual beers, a quiet dinner, or the TAB - it provides each of these very well. Food is of high quality and the only annoyance is having to pay cash at some bars - presumably something to do with the gambling. But, the upgraded outdoor areas more or less make up for it, especially on nice days when it gets packed. Overall highly recommended and worthy of the praise compared to its peers!

Since the modern restoration of the front and public bars the Rosstown Hotel has became a regular meeting place for locals in the South East. Great food and great drinks culminate in a night with live music. Enjoy the beer garden on a sunny weekend or sit by the roaring open fire during winter.

There are also a number of nooks and Cranny's where you can sit almost privately, the venue offers gaming, good food, and professional staff. Give it a go its a great place to visit!

Pub that offers a lot. Has a couple of outdoor areas. Has a TAB, pokies, restaurant and bars. The food looks good. Large outdoor area has separate smoking rooms, 1 with TVs in it. Then also separates the outdoor area into no smoking while food is being served, then when food service ends, people can smoke outside. May even offer more services/features.

The Rosstown has become a bit of an institution for our family with good reason; - The menu is both extensive & exceptional catering for all dietary requirements, - the meals are 'extremely' generous not only in size, but also quality of produce, flavour & presentation - the service from each & every staff member is outstanding. You're always greeted with a smile & nothing's ever too much - the fit out is so warm & inviting. Basing this review on what it is and not compare it to 'Rockpool' in southbank. Great pub in the suburbs which I've noticed takes pride in what they do there's a couple of pubs which i enjoy in the suburbs which i enjoy. I like this one especially for the tapas and service. I could go on manically forever..but i'll just say that I miss being a local & having the parentals shout me regular dinners there (& occasionally vice versa -as prices are not exorbitant.. quite reasonable really..) for what is always AMAZING FOOD & i even loved the couple cocktails i tried (& i'm not much of a drinker these days.. for health & older age homebody reasons..) but other than the one competing restaurant opposite {another amazing favourite *see write up for °Gami's Beer & Chicken°} & of course an occasional visit to {the continual favourite, see write up for [all] °Grill'd° restaurants} i would always recommend The Rosstown Hotel's Bistro for an amazing meal whenever you're close enough..to either drop in early (or recommend pre-booking, as their large dining room is often full during peak mealtimes!)..or just go that way for a nice meal anyway & enjoy their full bar afterwards (open reasonably late) or their large pokies room (if you're into that kinda thing)..they even have a sizeable beer garden for nice weather (or enclosed & heated in winter) or go past the separate bottle shop behind them on your way home to continue celebrating..or wander up the street (Koornang Rd[continuation of Darling St past Dandenong Rd] for a walk past many cafes including great Self Service Frozen Yogurt Shop, or Russian Deli with great cakes..or simply stay on at The Rosstown for their lovely desserts, if you can fit them in, as the meals are sizeable & entré's tempting..don't miss out on trying this (classier than your average pub meal atmosphere) "Bistro" out..i can't recommende it enough.. & happy that my short stay in the vicinity gave me the (as otherwise inopportune reason) for finding this 'foody's' gem..!!

Having had very ordinary, over priced meals in the past at the Rosstown. I was very pleasantly surprised by the new look and the new Menu! They have a very extensive dinner menu including a specials menu, a tapas menu and a great selection of seafood, steaks, pasta & salads. We loved everything we ordered, with my only complaint being some meals were a lot more substantial than others and the prices are still a little high for some meals (not many mains under $20). I was very impressed with the faultless service - so friendly and helpful. Love the new seating choices too! I highly recommend anyone who has been here in the past to come back and give it another go. On the way out we took quick look in old "sports" bar and love the new seating booths each with their own TV - perfect for getting together with a few mates to watch the game!
