Comments of Rustica Melbourne Central

Had an excellent brunch here yesterday. I ordered the plant based miso cauliflower which was healthy and delicious. My friend ordered the smashed avo, which had toppings on each slice of sourdough, rather than have the second slice plain stacked under the first. The tumeric latte was also pretty good. I’d definitely go back.
A. F.
Coffee was great, burger was okay. Love the interior design, would come back mostly for the atmosphere. Kitchen was closed when I got here so I’m definitely going to come back to try it again! Friendly staff too 😊
J. S.
One of my favorite and most visited breakfast places in Melbourne.
Great service, friendly staff, and excellent food.
We tried the following dishes, and we always keep coming back for more:
Scrambled Chilli Eggs (Smoked bacon, homemade Indonesian sambal, fried shallot, green onion, goat curd, pickled chilli on pumpkin toast).
Spanish Omelette (Grilled chorizo, potato, marinated green olives, aged Manchego, rocket salad served on sourdough toast).
Avocado Toast (Smashed avocado, Meredith feta, puffed grains, pickled salad, served with soy & quinoa toast).
Their coffee is excellent. And if you fancy something quick, try their Almond croissant.
M. C.
Service is quick and our food arrived quickly. Menu is web-based, and you order everything through your phone and pay on your phone too.
There are many options for vegetarian, and we ordered the egg florentine and miso cauliflower. The miso cauliflower taste great to start with, however it gets a bit salty towards the end. May not order that again, but if you enjoy miso, it’s quite a delicious dish.

The coffees are decent, and the pastries left me satisfied. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's not terribly so. The cafe is clean, with options for out-of-the-cafe seating (mind you, it's in a mall), or a seat at a counter, or just regular tables. It's run by a group of really friendly staff members too, so that's a plus. They can get pretty busy at times, but nothing too wild. They do enforce a 10% surcharge on weekends, so do take note.
U. P.
Amazing experience, quick and quality service and good food. Nice place to have brunch with friends and catch up in the city.
T. R.
It's a very clean and tidy place. Avo toast was delicious but in chicken salad some chicken pieces tasted bad.
Also a bit over-priced menu.
C. B.
Really tasty food, heaps of options. Husband had the eggs Florentine and absolutely loved it, I opted for a classic smashed avo. 10/10 - so good!
M.
Phenomenal breakfast with amazing service. Had the Eggs Florentine and my taste buds loved every bite. Coffee was great too ! Would definitely recommend for a nice breakfast spot.
H. D.
A pretty good brekkie. Very flavoursome dishes, with good serving sizes.
The coffee was good, but could maybe have been stronger.
The service was the let down. It was really hard to get the waiters attention.
V.
Big ups Rustica! Steezing on those feeds, been here with 10+ mates and everyone has had nothing but good things to say, what a success on that lockdown sandwich menu everything is on point and most of all the customer service is even better than the sandwiches, keep smashing it ❤
Y. P.
One of the best menus I have ever tasted and Sam the chef gives everything a nice touch.
A. Y.
We had a great experience, I ordered coffee and the mushroom medley, both were excellent!! The mushrooms come with a truffle hummus that is very tasty!
S. A.
Rustica is your above typical Melbourne cafe, We visited the cafe recently and had avo smash & baba ganouch with eggs.
Breakfast menu is pretty simple but it seems they know their dishes well. Both avo smash and baba ganouch had delightful presentation.
Definitely visiting them back soon
M. Y.
Probably the best brunch option in Melbourne Central, with a sure to please Almond Croissant.
All admiration goes out to the staff, attentive and meticulous to a fault.
More than deserving for a bump in pay.
B. M.
Good cafe. Always very busy. Love their breads. Very healthy and delicious. Tried their banana bread and green coffee today.
Had their eggs benedict today. Roast lamb, vege stew, gold hummus. Quite delicious.
H. B.
I have been to Rustica a few times and have had okay experiences overall. The melbourne central location is very convenient but it is not noisy or crowded in the seating areas. The food is very well presented and there are a good range of interesting dishes on the menu. However, I think you can definitely get better brunch food in Melbourne for the same price. The prices here are quite high and there is also a 10% surcharge on weekends which is not advertised until you go to pay. They do not accept split bills. The food is fairly average and I wouldnt say it was delicious. I would recommend for location but there are better brunch places around.
A. A. D.
I came here with my friend, I ordered a green tea which was good actually, design seems great too with an open area outside. Overall good experience although there has been some misunderstanding but I like how fast and friendly they were to fix it.
Thanks, and recommend to check this cafe out!!
They’ve got a verity of food from sandwiches to breakfast and desserts as well!
S. Y.
Great experience 👍 nice outdoor ,friendly staff and great service
F. G.
Conveniently located for a quick brunch in the city. Loved the sandwiches. Tried the Lobster Benedict. It was like lobster roll with perfectly cooked eggs and refreshing hollandaise. Really good.
M. N.
Great for an afternoon coffee and sugar hit. The matcha in the Cronut wasn’t very matcha-ry however I enjoyed it. A cute spot to hang. Staff are friendly and attentive.
I’ll be back to try the menu items.

A very nice brunch at Rustica when I could dine in. Lovely, modern atmosphere, nice coffee. The dish I ordered was fresh and had nice flavour.
C. O.
Finally got around to visiting Rustica late in the afternoon on a Monday, so not the busiest period. I ordered the smoked mushrooms and a large cappucino. Magnificent. The coffee was so good that I ordered a second one.
The dish was excellent, with quality ingredients all cooked to perfection. A great combination of flavours - earthy smoked mushrooms topped with a zesty salad. The presentation was also remarkable.
What always makes such a difference is the customer service and I was really left with a great impression of Rustica. All of the staff were very polite and attentive.
One tiny bit of feedback is that both times I received my coffee, there wasn't a spoon on the saucer. So I'm not sure how I was supposed to stir in sugar if I wanted it. But besides this small oversight, everything was terrific. Will definitely be back.
N. T.
A most delightful cafe in the hustle and bustle of Melbourne Central. The staff are lovely with a jubilant and chill vibe. Their desserts are delicious and beautifully presented, and their coffee perfectly matches it ! Will definitely be back when I need some time out !
N. C.
Have heard good things about their other shops from foodie friends so we stopped in for a sweet and coffee on the way out of the city. Very impressed by the lychee and raspberry donut we shared and my iced chocolate was amazing with little crunchy bits in it but I couldn’t help but feel like we were in the way for being there.
It was a Wednesday, not overly busy but a few people around. The barista was the friendliest person who said hello on the way in. We were directed towards a man who then ignored us before being seated on a cute table. The man who took our order was really unimpressed that we were ordering with him... sorry I guess!
M. K.
This cafe still maintain their good coffee standard since moved to Melbourne Central. And one of the best bakery sell loaf of bread, particular spiced fruit loaf.
P.
Good place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Great coffee, great food, great services. This chocolate croissant is my favourite dessert. It’s quiet filling actually. Good to share it with your company after the meal
F. P.
Nice breakfast and coffee. It's a bit pricey and it gets quite busy on weekends (they seem to need more staff during this time as I could see a queue was forming and there were a few empty tables with used plates on it)
J. D.
🌟 A go to place for my Sweet Tooth 🌟
It is located inside melbourne central, very convenient for people who feel munchy while having retail therapy.
Their sweet croissants are absolutely delicious and they also have savoury options for brunch too!
🍴 Food
1) chocolate croissant & pitachio croissant
2) lobster bun
S. R. S.
Great experience. Nice coffee, the food are delicious, beautiful looking sweets and pastries.
j.
First time trying a tumeric latte! Not every cafe does these. First impression of this place was that the design was unique and eye catching, the seating was comfortable and I like how you don’t notice the foot traffic as you do with some other cafes. I ordered the veggie dish which was delicious and so healthy - would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a healthy yet tasty lunch. Only downside is it’s on the pricy side so I wouldn’t go here often
T. R.
Friendly staff and efficient service. Although I think the French toast was drenched in sauce unfortunately. I think the french toast itself was nicely cooked. Chia latte was powder chai.
Overall I was a bit disappointed. The cafe is situated inside Melbourne central shopping centre. Convenient location. There are some “outside” seating in the middle of the walkway. The “inside” seating can be a bit too dark. Perhaps a coffee here would be a nice option than French Toast.
E. B.
Beautiful cafe located after emporium in Melbourne central , 3rd floor .great open Space. Good coffee and pastries, sweets . But service bit slow.
L. p. l.
Simply 2 perfect salads and real tea - a fantastic little discovery and a very nice surprise.
C. S.
Good food and tasty coffee nice seats outside the cafe in Melbourne central 😋😋😋
M. C.
Great food, very clean environment. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with my order. Highly recommended giving this place a try
k. s.
Great coffee . Also love their chilli omelette.
A. P.
Rocky road French toast was amazing, coffee was ok. I've had better there before.
A. E.
Delicious. Good was great, restaurant interior is very nice

Breakfast of Champions
There is nothing on the menu that is not worth trying. They are a vegan friendly environment with outstanding food that leaves you satisfied for the rest of the day. I should know, while I was working in Melbourne Central I was there nearly every day for a fix.
They offer sparkling mineral water for free. The coffee is awesome and the desserts .... I put on calories just looking at them. The staff are great too.
C. V.
Amazing coffee, food and service ❤️
V. S.
I went there with two girlfriends last week and we were quite happy with this place. One of us initially ordered the smoke trout, but obviously misunderstood the menu as the dish came out totally unexpected like a sweet dish. We spoke with one of the waitress there ( didn't get her name), she was approachable and friendly and went to check what could be done. We got a different dish at the end with no extra charges so happy customers :)
R. H.
Great coffee and interesting brunches. The lobster roll with the poached eggs is especially good. Great selection of pastries as well.
Can get a bit busy on the weekends but it's one of the few places in Melbourne Central that's worth the wait! Highly recommended
J. C.
Friendly and fast service! Black forest croissant was divine, perfect crust with vanilla filling and jam!! Also had Oreo white chocolate cronut, nice layers but the texture was a bit greasy for my liking. Macha latte tasted authentic which is a rare treat. Overall highly recommend it!!
G. A.
Beautiful dish , nice poached eggs . Nice service. Price is slightly higher . Nice environment particular during winter.
M. G.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Rare to have staffs in the CBD that genuinely provides excellent customer services. Well done guys.
Wide selection of food with vegetarian or VGO. Coffee is great and don’t miss out on the artisan bread selections.
D. R.
A very pleasant place to eat. Varied menu and food well presented with ample amount. The Mushroom dish was quite delicious and the coffee served hot. The staff were helpful and courteous. Will come back again.
A. L.
A fabulous little cafe in the mall. A range of healthy and indulgent options, and greet coffee.
Baked goods also 👌
Would definitely go back next time I'm in town.
J. T.
Egg benedict lobster roll is great. Lobster was pretty flavorful and the eggs were perfect. There were some greens on there that went well with everything and gave it a good texture. Sauce was good. It was like $25. The salt was very noticable in some bites, but I like that.
I had lemongrass ginger tea as well. I actually finished it because the kettle was so small. Flavor was OK and it was a good match for the lobster roll.
I sat inside instead of in the middle of the mall hallway where most people were. The staff were young and friendly and carried on some quiet banter in their downtime.
Overall I enjoyed the place!
I. A.
Lemongrass tea and Bostock Matcha Strawberry at Rustica, Melbourne Central.
J. L.
Food is decent although the restaurant may not be suitable for newborn/young children. The music inside the Premises was blasting as if it was a night club. Asked the staff numerous times to turn the music down slightly, as we had newborns with us and they ignored the request.
J. B.
Finally a great cafe in the city. I have been searching for a place I can call my local and now have found it.
Coffee, food and exceptional service this place has it all. In a shopping centre it can be hard to create a comfortable cool atmosphere but these guys have nailed it, I am a music lover and if you like a bit of disco this place is definitely for you.
10/10 all round awesome cafe 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
N. O.
Sick tunes, killer espresso, delish panna cotta. Staffs are always busy and may not be so attentive due to the moderate-high traffic, but they’re friendly and got everything I asked for with great quality. If you need a lot of attention please seek psychological advice instead of going to a cafe. If you’re seeking a cafe, come get your food and coffee beautifully done.
S. R.
This place was so good! Delicious food and great service. I had the Corn Fritters and they were amazing. For a sweet treat I highly recommend the Passion Fruit Croissant! I’ll definitely be coming back!
R. F.
Walked past and got attracted by the Cronuts displayed against the window, beautiful interiors and very friendly staff. Returned shortly after lunch just to have a coffee and shared a cronut. Great experience especially with the service! Brunch on other tables look delish, will return soon to try them all!
M. M.
Tasty food, amazing atmosphere and friendly staff
K.
Nice food and location :) thanks
B. W.
I love this place, the coffee and the food is delicious!! I always have to sit outside though as the tunes inside are just to loud and makes talking to your eating companions very challenging.
A. K.
Bit of a disappointing visit. The coffee was not up to the standard you might expect of Melbourne coffee. It can get quite loud in the cafe itself that it is hard to hear your own conversation. The staff are friendly, though!
L. P.
Great bread but they can't slice it 😏
Had a bagel and it was stodgy and soggy, couldn't even cut it in half....again meh!
T. J.
The food is great and the service usually is too. The most recent time I have been was different, the staff were trying to rush people and were not welcoming. Maybe this was just a bad day for them.
S. W.
good food but to eat inside a mall is not optimal. we had the lobster eggs benedict and it was wonderful. coffee is also good.
L. W.
Great coffee, great food (toasted sandwiches are a must) and wonderful service from Tanya, what a gem!
B. F.
Yums! Good place for bruch. Meals here are not heavy yet they are filling enough to last you throughout the day. Coffee is good too.
A.
Great food and service, staff are friendly and the cakes are freshly made and delicious
A. W.
Food was nice but everything was just warm and went cold very quick. The eggs, mushrooms and even the hot choc! Don’t think I will be back.
A. T. A.
Very popular place for coffee and good food.
R. B.

Service, once attended was great, as was the fare. However, there seemed to be common confusion amongst all customers regarding where/when to order.
M. M.

Dishes: Scrambled Chilli Eggs & Smoked Trout Salad.
The scrambled chilli egg was delightful, a mixture of herbs and spices over a slice of sourdough. Each ingredient had complimented the other, recommended for anyone as a simple, safe brunch.
The smoked trout salad was green, very green as expected from a salad.
Both dishes had been filling and better than expected.
Thanks for the pleasant experience!

(Translated) I had the cold brew and it didn't taste too good, the worst coffee I've had this year. Long black, made with powdered coffee at home, tastes even better.

콜드브루 시켰는데 너무 맛이 없었음,, 올해 마신 커피 중 제일 맛이 없었다. 집에서 가루커피로 만들어 먹는 롱블랙이 더 맛있을 지경.

(Translated) I went to lunch on Sunday, but it was relatively free and it was just right for the meeting.
Ingredients are healthy with lots of fresh salad on the plate, and the fruit of the dessert is sweet (naturally sweet)
I ordered a latte together, but it was so hot that even people with cat tongue could drink it immediately.
