This cafe is a beauty. This was my fourth visit here. They’ve all been good and the cafe noticeably just keeps getting better and better. There are some genuinely innovative dishes on the menu here. And, those dishes are executed very very very well. Add very good coffee, the physical loveliness of the venue and terrific service and you’ve got a mighty cafe, one that’s as good as any highly regarded city establishment.
Last year
Very impressively run small cafe in an idyllic spot. I had the Field of dreams dish today. This has beautifully cooked mushrooms, onion and an egg on fried bread. This is a very pretty and well composed dish. Lovely flavours. Mushrooms cooked perfectly. My long black was super as well.
One day earlier
Just a coffee today with a local. Lovely sunny day. Sitting in the light breeze beside the estuary with the beach in view was blissful. The coffee was beautiful, the service divine from multiple servers. The meals coming out looked fantastic. The local says the owner is Argentinian and runs the place superbly. Everything here is well done. Punches well above its weight.

Cute little cafe located, um, right beside a swing bridge. Gets very busy during the season. If you miss a table you can lounge on the grass. Coffee was very nice here. The barristas know their stuff. Service was terrific. Recommended.

J. B.Amazing breakfast, Kale perfectly steamed and seasoned served together with extraordinary slow cooked poached free range eggs on crunchy multi grain toasts! I had never tried eggs with such a special texture... it deserves a Michelin star! Very friendly staff! This place is a must on your Ocean Road Trip!
T. O.I walked past this place in the late afternoon and it was pumping (in Summer). I had to try it and went there for breakfast a few days later.
Got there, loved it and has great vibes. So many dogs around and awesome coffee. The menu offers enough for a vegetarian to be happy and all the breaky classics at a very high quality.

A. C.Came by at the right time for a BBQ Argentinian steak which was great. Served with a generous portion of garden salad, all for 28$.
The place was a bit too smokey, the 250g steak could have been bigger.
It's a shame they didn't have a contact number to book for the next BBQ...

D. D.Quaint small but very busy coffee shop right next to the swing bridge in Lorne. The coffee was delicious and served quickly despite being so busy. Lovely spot to enjoy coffee, sunshine overlooking the ocean and river. Access is through the caravan park, but don't be put off, it us worth it. Staff were friendly and helpful.

a.between 3 and 4 stars. The place was very busy, a lot of people standing around waiting for takeaways. Argentine chorizo baguette was very tasty, egg and bacon one was very oily, the bread was saturated with oil. Owner / main dude is a funny guy
M. S.It can be hard to get a seat but the wait is worth it. Once you get your seat the coffee and food is all very well timed. This is where it is at, the sous vide eggs are the best eggs I have ever had, the smoked trout is beautiful.

C. J.The coffee is consistently good hear, but the chai is outstanding. It's good a good kick to it and it's a generous serve.
The team here have also adapted the space to use the grassy hill with big bench seats and tables to accommodate people to sit in for food and or drinks.
A visit to Lorne isn't complete
without a visit to the swing bridge cafe.

H. C.Great little cafe in a quiet and serene spot in Lorne. There is no busy roads next to this cafe so you can savour the view of the beach while you sip your coffee. The menu is small, but with a good variety of options. The food was very fresh and tasted as good as it looks. The outdoor tables may need a bit more shade though.

C. B.After 4 days of eating below average food in Apollo Bay, this place was a breath of fresh air! I got the Weeds dish - delicious gluten free bread, the best smashed avo I've had in a LONG time, yummy kale and an amazing chai latte. I think that's how chai lattes are supposed to taste.
My boyfriend got the Wakie Wakie breakfast roll. I had food envy even though mine was so yummy. A small menu done really really well. The best breakfast place we ate at on the Great Ocean Road, hands down.
Location is really cute too. Off the beaten track a little bit with views of the ocean and the river. We will definitely be back!

Unfortunately our attendance at the Afghanistan BBQ was less than ideal with the chosen "artist" deciding a performance of Chef's "Chocolate Salty Balls" was an appropriate song choice!? J. R.For me a one dimensional menu with a lot of dishes that contained slow poached eggs and bacon really didn't set my world on fire. A good muesli or even pancakes would have been a welcome addition. The coffee they use from St Ali should have been great but somehow the latte they produced was a little watery and burnt.
For location you have to give them full marks. Great views and peace and quiet to reflect.
H.Great spot to grab a coffee before walking the dog, although can get busy they serve you quickly . Would love to try the Argentinian BBQ or Paella on the weekend

I'm fixated and salivating still, on the breaky I had this morning with some close mates to close out the long weekend. You'll enjoy all elements of any dish, I'm so confident this is the case. However, let me briefly describe one. The eggs, running like they need a 2XU sponsorship. The bacon, regal. The bread. Now the bread, this element holds a spot in heaven and the aoli can join too. So please, park the MX-5 with a view of the ocean, grab a chair outside and indulge yourself. You've earnt it.
