Comments of The Crux & Co.
J. T.
The chili scramble at Crux is amazing. Every element is so well crafted (that milk bread!, the scrambled eggs!, the spicy sauce!, the chorizo!) and this probably hits as one of our top favorite breakfast spots in Melbourne.
We hope to one day try more of the menu, but we just can’t get past how delicious the chili scramble is!
I would also note that the chai latte is so well done and pairs perfectly with the chili scramble.

We booked in advance and so glad we did as it was busy for a Thursday! Everything we had looked so delicious and the food that I tried was amazing. The coffee was good, I had two cappuccinos. If I can add a suggestion, please provide more chips in the chip basket as they are addictive, I wanted more! We will definitely be back. Thank you for your great service, your staff are fab!

Really great cafe, first time there and the staff were more then happy and extremely kind with me. Due to this rona’ situation some places aren’t as nice. I had a chicken toasted wrap and an almond cap. Delicious wrap and the coffee was very good. Very happy with this place and will definitely come back again for a menu meal

- Char-siu pork benny w/ poached eggs. miso hollandaise, pickled celery & apple on a pumpkin loaf $18.5 🍳🍞
- Chilli Masala Scrambled Eggs w/ smoked turkey bacon, jalapeño cheddar, curry yoghurt sauce on Turkish bread $19.5 🌶🍳
- The Crux & Co. vegetarian breakfast w/ eggs, feta, avocado, popcorn tofu, grilled kale & spinach, tomato & sautéed mushrooms on sourdough toast $20.5 🥑🍅🍳🥖
Modern and stylish cafe serving variety of fusion breakfast and brunch. Service was quick and friendly probs becox we came here early in the morning and avoided the crowd. I really enjoyed my pork benny. That sweet savoury combination of the miso hollandaise and char siu was delicious. Their pumpkin loaf was super soft and fluffy with a hint of pumpkin flavour. Love that Asian twist on the Eggs Benny.
While I was enjoying my brekkie, I could see trays of croissants coming out from the kitchen and I couldn’t stop eyeing on them. Would defs come back for their pastries and brunches.
N. T.
Great little spot with a fantastic brunch.
I had the Crux and Co vegetarian breakfast while my sister enjoyed the Char Siu Pork Benny.
The sesame tofu in the vegetarian breakfast was a definite highlight for me.

This place is a heaven of pastries and cakes. Get here early because they fly out the door real quick.
The venue is beautiful too, spacious, sun filled and modern. Coffee is great too, their focus is really on quality.
Service is very good, always friendly and always welcoming. They are quick on their feet to help you out with anything you need.
Have always been returning for pastry and coffee (hint: the matcha croissant is to die for).

Our 2 dishes were the Char Siu Pork Belly Eggs Benedict and Chilli Scrambled eggs.
We shared our dishes and the Char Siu Benedict was by far my favourite. Loved the combo of miso hollandaise, pickled celery and pumpkin bread. Great balance of salty and sweet flavours.
Chilli eggs weren't anything special but wasn't bad either.
Coffee was amazing so I decided to give this review a 5.
Would like to come back and try other dishes with their great coffee.
P. D.
I love this place - they have tasty cakes, good service, and the most delicious vegetarian chilli scramble! I do miss their veggie big breakfast though.
J. D.
Not a big menu, but really tasty food! This was the prawn carbonara "pasta" that was actually using udon noodles. Quite an interesting fusion.
K. R. (.
Lovely food, plenty of options for all. Could do with a baby change table though, given how many babies seem to come and eat here with their families! We had some delicious vegetarian meals and good coffee and tea.

This brunch place has been around for some time. The food presentation is immaculate and taste wise still pretty good too. The Poke bowl is refreshing. The muesli have a variety of fruits and the fritter is cooked perfectly (not too dry). Plenty of space for people who are bringing in prams but limited space on the outdoor seating.

My go-to cafe when I lived in South Yarra for 7 years. The breakfast bowl changed this year. Still as tasty as ever, just without the spice sprinkle I loved. Mork hot chocolate always exceptional. Plus I can now use Liven pay. I got $25 credit when I paid for our $60 meal a couple weeks ago. So good.

The ambiance is great, open and well lit with natural finishes and nice, clean tones. The staff are nice and the food looked great. I had the poke bowl which was not the best (hence the rating) but all the other dishes looked yum as you can see from my photos. Check them out, it has potential for sure
T. N.
My favourite brunch spot! They make the best tuna poke bowl. Coffee and matcha latte are really nice too. Don’t forget to check out their dessert cabinet- especially the matcha croissant 🥐.
T. B.
Been here 10+ times for breakfast/lunch, always on weekends. It’s becoming more popular and can have a bit of a waiting list at peak times (sat/sun morn) if it’s sunny but don’t have to wait too long normally. Service is typically quick and you can see all the cooking happen in the open kitchen, reassuring it’s clean and fresh and the presentation is always impeccable. Favourites are probably the big vegetarian breakfast or the muesli (with edible flowers).
Y. L.
Coffee is the best near this area. Egg Benny is tasty but not amazing. My friend likes poke bowl. Will try dessert next time, looks delicious. Wait time is quite long. We waited for almost 30min to get food although not too many customers in store. Would be better if you can serve coffee quickly. We waited coffee for around 15min. BTW, pay with liven will get discount

It was my birthday, my friend took me to this place for a brunch treat and to give me a lovely gift. Thanks, Pat! The funny part was, as I reached the place, I realized that I have walked past this restaurant many times while I was visiting my friends who are residing on the very same apartment building. But, never once I have seen them during opening hours since the restaurant closes at 4 in the afternoon. Anyway, without much expectation, I got in and we were welcomed by a very friendly staff member and showed us to our seat.
First impressions, this place is lit. If it is this crowded on a weekday then I can't imagine how it will be during weekends. The catch, there is no buzzing noise of the traffic since it is in a peaceful neighborhood. The outdoor seating is a plus and loved their ambiance. Quite modern and laid back for most of the part.
We ordered Sweet Potato Wedges, "The Crux special of the day", a bulgogi beef on beetroot bun from the lunch menu, Macha Latte and Hot Chocolate. My dish came with Potato Wedges and we ended up having both sweet and usual potato wedges. I absolutely loved it and it is one of the must-try starters.
The Hot Chocolate was delicious and I absolutely loved it. It was the first time I was having Macha Latte and although it looked fabulous I still prefer coffee if I have an option. Guess I am not into green stuff when it comes to food. Joking! In my plate, the beetroot bun with bulgogi beef, cheddar, and white kimchi. Every time I had a mouthful I enjoyed each bit of it. The beef was juicy and full of flavors. This is definitely a must try in here. I am telling you because I wanted something meat and this was one of the impressive items on the menu. They don't have much chicken options, except for some salads, which I personally think as a bummer. The beer battered potato wedges dipped in basil aioli sauce was just perfect.
Overall, my birthday brunch was amazing. The food was delicious, the place was great with very friendly staff. The only thing was, I wish there were more Chicken dishes on the menu. I would love to visit again but, before that, I want to check out all other places listed under "35 Hottest Brunch Destinations". 1 down, 34 to go. Keep up the good work guys.

8/10 experience.
Unpopular opinion: I'm not a fan of brunch.
Usually, I am not a fan of brunch. I hate the idea of not having breakfast at home and making our way to a destination hungrily to get the feed.
Not to mention most brunches are overpriced. I could never justify the taste and price, when I know I would be satisfied making something at home for a fraction of the cost.
Now, The Crux & Co was a different story, I came here with my partner and the setting was just so inviting; both indoors and outdoors.
The staffs were okay, but could've been better.
The food on the other hand was fantastic. Good portion and good price. Not to say that it was cheap or anything, but it wasn't overpriced. I believe the price of what you see came to a total of $58 (I ordered two espressos to add into my matcha latte).
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's a fan of brunches, as this place will surpass your expectations for the quality, portion and price.
A+++ in my books.
D. C.
Nice and clean restaurant. Excellent and chill customer service. The food is very well presented and taste amazing. Would definitely stop by again on the way to the city.
C. H.
First impressions on entering are fantastic , and what a cool place it is , but the staff are just a bit too cool backed by management arrogance . Went for breakfast , which was ok , coffee is above average but they forgot our order . Food looks fancy and better than what they actually taste. When the staff start thinking that they are doing you a favour by serving you, you are probabaly better going some where else . It is a shame that the fantastic fit out and great concept of the bakery is let down by poor service. Staff will tell you straight away they think you are rude by expressing the annoyance of waiting for too long.
N. W.
This is a great brunch café. They have a fabulous long brew that is just lovely 😊 and a different take on the usual brunch favourites. The eggs are poached perfectly and the accompaniments are varied. The staff are also very friendly and helpful especially with the specialty coffee. The interior is very stylish, green, clean & scandy.
I’m definitely coming back here!
L.
This is real gem in the area.
There many range of foods from breakfast to a proper meals. They are really delicious and has great presentation.
Also this place knows how to do their coffee properly.
If you haven’t been there you must visit.
I only have 4 stars because there is abig vegetarian dish but you can’t convert some of them to bacon or sausages. You gotta pay something like $5 extra for meats. Which leads to too much food and end up going into a bin.
C. C. R.
A good place for brunching in town with a various modern edgy menus. Burgers, fries, toast, coffee, as well as the dessert.
A humble and spacious dining place, and felt like eating at home with fresh and bright surroundings.
It could be hard to find a park during the weekend but it it really is worth visit.
G.
Fabulous Melbourne cafe, and picture-perfect food which delivers on flavour. Amazing coffee.
Located on the ground floor of an apartment block just off the St Kilda Road and directly opposite the beautiful facade of The Kettle Black. Crux & Co is very unassuming on the outside, you definitely need to be “in the know” to be drawn in and away from the cafe opposite.
Inside the decor is super stylish and wonderful friendly staff. The coffee is excellent! Great food menu with something for everyone, and a few unusual choices too.
Loads of Gluten Free and Vegan options too. My fritters were sensational! And the Kimchi Concasse was amazing. If you’re craving something sweet- the pastry case is packed with artistically crafted delights.
We had a wonderful brunch in a delightful and stylish atmosphere.
Highly recommend!
E. C.
A South Melbourne gem. Tasty brunch food next to Albert Park! A decently diverse menu sets it apart from some of the usual run of the mill cafes. The coffee and food were more than palatable. Service was a bit slow, but definitely worth a try :)
The chipotle? sauce that came with the sweet potato wedges was divine.
G. L.
I love their Udon Carbonara ❤
The Chilli Scrambled eggs & Pork bellies were nice too .
M. C.
Slightly on the higher price range for brunch in Melbourne but it’s well worth it. Delicious fusion brunch options and great coffee. Nice atmosphere for catching up with friends.
S. Z.
We went on a Sunday, the place does look quite nice and had a quiet environment. The food was of standard quality, nothing very exceptional. However, when we were paying the bills I noticed that the price charged was 7 dollars higher than what we should have spent as luckily I did my own calculations. When I questioned the staff they told me that they charge 15% surcharge for Sundays. Let aside whether that's common, at least the fact that there's a surcharge should have been written somewhere (e. g. In the menu) or at least the staff should tell you before you order. I specifically asked the staff whether the surcharge is mentioned anywhere in the store before people pay the bill and I was told 'No'. Although I personally do not care much about 7 dollars but I think this kind of information should have been passed on to people prior to them ordering
K. L.
A beautiful cafe with Japanese fusion foods! Must try their tofu and burger !
A. F.
Beautiful. Friendly staff. Cozy and warm atmosphere. I love that you can sit partially inside and outside with their turning shelves. Their coffee is the best! Next time i dropby I'll try some of their food :)
G. S.
Highly recommend this cafe - great food, great ambiance. This is the kind of Melbourne brunch food scene. The cafe is well decorated with minimalist effect, bright with a neutral tone. Food is Asian fusion. Had the grilled miso salmon - nicely cooked salmon and absolutely love the gochujang mayo, it goes very well with the salmon. Coffee is good too
J. T.
Always a joy to be here, love the interior, ambiance and their F&B.
One of the best buttery croissant in town.
K. J.
The most underrated Cafe on Albert Road! Such a nicely decorated space with a unique menu that stands apart from the traditional brunch dishes. Good coffee of course. The espresso spritz blue my mind!
A. H.
Food is super good and dessert is great! What else can I say! My fav the prawn carbonara!
R. F.
Wish I visited earlier! Great brunch cafe with good vibes, awesome staff and obviously a place runs by love! I had the Smoked Salmon Croissant (you can't go wrong with croissants are baked on site daily!), it's a dish that makes you happy the moment it is served on the table, too pretty! I love this version with pickled cabbage to cut through the fish oil, poached egg was perfect too. My friend had the Smashed Avocado with Beetroot, I never thought of mixing these two and it certainly works, with fresh rocket salad on top. As a caffeine addict, I went for the juice and this is my confession, I queued at Kettle Black & grabbed a coffee from their front kiosk before walking into Crux & Co. To show how happy I was with my experience, I brought home matcha croissants & matcha Opera cake (gone was that croissant before I remembered to take a snap) & the Opera was delish! I'll be back soon and will certainly go for that Crux caffeine hit!
J.
Always a good coffee here and a great place for your just desserts. Yes the breakfast is around 20 bucks and yes you will need more than 1 coffee but they make all their treats here, even the croissants so worth staying for a few hours and going all out. The cafe itself has a super modern design, atmosphere isnt noisy and the staff dont rush you out to get their next table filled. I come here often as its close to home and I know what I get every time is pretty good. Try the burger or the eggs with salmon, they all have a Japanese twist and are delicious.
P. H.
Good atmosphere and staff were really nice!
Food is trying to punch above its weight though.
Presentation is fantastic and portions are generous, but flavours are lacking in charector .. especially when compared to the high-bar which has been set in South Melbourne. With that in mind, prices are probably a little too high but not painful.
French toast was nice, but was more like egg on fluffy bread with a side of strawberries. Pork burger has good quality ingredients and is a good simple feed.
Not a spot for the foodies but enjoyable for most, just keep your tastebud's expectations in check.
J. P.
Grabbed a quick bite and was not disappointed. Service was quick and efficient and the Chilli scrambled eggs was one of the best I've had. The jalepeno cheddar cheese is a really good addition to the normal chilli scrambled eggs you get elsewhere.
S. A.
Nice food and good service.
L. B.
A really nice place with great food and coffee. The presentation of the dishes do justice to how delicious they are. One of my favourite places for brunch and the first place I've brought people who are new to the Melbourne cafe scene
C.
Beautiful place in Melbourne close to Albert Park. We went there for breakfast and were amazed by the food: not only does it look beautiful, but it is really super delicious! Staff was friendly too! A place we would definity visit again!
J. A. F.
We have been to Kettle Black a couple of times but this place is taking the mantle from them right now. We had the fritters, avo smash and the succulent pork belly - Definitely recommend this place - Coffee was good as well
E. B.
Good coffee and the best matcha pastry ! Since they open 3 years ago, always the same good ! They also have very cute matcha latte art. Highly recommended Matcha croissant & almond Matcha croissant .
R. G.
One of my favourite brunch places. Food is delicious and service is great. Usually crowded during the weekends.
T. K.
Great fit out, friendly staff and delicious food. Whether it's for a quick takeaway coffee and croissant before work or sitting down to enjoy a full meal from their excellent menu, I haven't been disappointed yet.

Happy with all the food we ordered. The matcha latte w soy milk was amazing. Came here for the pancakes but they changed menu, sadly. Hope they will put the pancakes back soon.
c. t.
Coffee are great =) staffs are very nice.... good place for brekki or brunch for a day off
I had a croffle this time...interesting =)
H. D.
The pastries and cakes here are something to die for 😍 amazingly delicious.
And scramble eggs. Love it!
L.
Nice looking cafe and good range of food and dessert! But personally thought the food was wasn’t that amazing. The mushroom burger I had didn’t meet my expectation and the brioche bun wasn’t that good😢 but Coffee was nice and friendly staff!
B. T. P.
Cool space and menu but sadly had a pretty underwhelming experience. One of the chips we ate was ice cold in the centre but they dealt with it quickly and replaced it professionally. But it was the scotch quail egg that was disappointing. You get one tiny quail egg and it was well overcooked. The concasse was also rather bland but I did love the presentation and the birds nest. The original Lights in the Attic version was better. Room for improvement but heaps of potential
H. P.
Great food. Came here with my girlfriend to have brunch. I ordered the fairy floss french toast. Honestly, I didn't find the flavor that complementing in terms of the ingredients used. It was more of a presentation thing that people like to come just to Instagram. The price was fairly okay. Overall, I didn't find the flavor that well paired and the dish was leaning towards the presentation side.
L. S.
Nice place to hang out and brunch. Came here with my famiky and tried the burger, egg benedict, pancakes, one of their special of the day, mork hot chocolate and coffee. The coffee was good. The mork hot choco was so so. The highlight was definitely the egg benedict. It was soo good and the egg was perfect. I don’t really like the pancake though. However overall was good. Pictures attached are the pancake and mork hot chocolate.
M. O.
Chefs kiss: grilled miso salmon, croissant croque monsieur and mango coconut dessert. Lovely indoor brunch spot with good service
H. V.
Great cafe, awesome vibrant vibes. The plants made us feel calming & relaxing. Good coffee, good food. Friendly & attentive staff.
J. L.
A feast for your eyes as well as your taste buds. A lot of effort has gone into the presentation here, with customised tables shaped the same as their business cards, positioning of the greenery and the eye catching treats cabinet. My gorgeous Egg Basket came with three scotch quail egg, falafel and arancini balls balanced on top of a potato rosti basket. Surrounded by a mixed bean chilli concasse, this combination produced a great meshing of different textures and flavours. Mork hot chocolate - again a sign of good quality. Helpful friendly staff with quick, efficient turnaround in a relaxed atmosphere. No wonder this place is consistently popular.
B. 3.
Famous for the amazing sweets however I also had the most amazing prawn pasta with chilli! You can taste how fresh the ingredients are - you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here.
R. A.
An extremely good brunch for the price! Ordered their quail egg, teriyaki salad and lobster benedict.
I can't really recommend their quail egg because the only good part is their salted quail egg (and its just one tiny quail egg).
Their Teriyaki salad however, is the best among what i ordered. The taste is truly on point and the portion is huge!
Lobster benedict is also extremely nice, the only trade off is their squid ink toast which is just so-so.
Overall, a very nice experience! Definitely one of the best brunch spot in Melbourne.
B. M.
Ordered coffee and some late lunch. Delicious, flavour filled food. Pancake stack was astounding. So many delicate flavors. Light pancakes. Great coffees too.
A. L.
Good food, great atmosphere. Overall, enjoyable, however some of the staff were a tad bit abrupt with their service (i.e. Dropping the plate on the table when serving, looking disinterested to serve).
A. D.
Amazing breakfast. A great combination of flavours and very well presented. Staff are guns at their job!
I will go back time and time again.
P. K.
Loved the soy cap!
Plain croissant was good too. If you want almond croissant, better go in the morning, it gets sold out very quickly.
c. k.
Nice looking cafe! Very things is perfect for me only the coffee is a bit too cold for me. Still highly recommend!
d.
Cool and relaxing space for a coffee and a snack. Friendly service with a smile.
k. b.
Excellent and friendly service. The matcha latte with matcha crossaint was amazing. The pork belly Benedict was very nice. I would definitely recommend for a fine breakfast and lunch.
P. W. H.
Bought 5 pieces of pastry to try. All of them met our expectations and beyond! It was so good and my wife loved it so much that we got a cafe for her from them. Definitely a place to go for good dessert!
W. W.
A great place for a Melbourne brunch if you're looking for another typical place for a Melbourne brunch. Ticks all the boxes in terms of design and presentation (marble, copper, potted plants, etc). Food is what you'd expect for the price. However, we did get charged $2 for a side of butter to go with a slice of toast.
G. Y.
Great food, interior and don't have to wait too long to get a table. The cafe itself is quite spacious and good for groups. My big breakfast was delicious!
C. c.
Black sesame hot cake is sooo cool and I do enjoy the summer special espresso tonic!!! No waiting time and I do enjoy with my friend!
R. P.
A delicious breakfast with a generous portion of everything. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast (pictures below). Every item was cooked/prepared perfectly. The coffee and pastries were good also - the latte was creamy and the croissant was made with a quality chocolate filling.
N. G.
Awesome spot for brunch after a night out!
Some great choices on the menu.
I went with the mushroom burger and a chai latte
The sweet potato wedges were incredible!
C. S.
Amazing food! Excellent option for breakfast and lunch! Good selection of coffee and great atmosphere! You can’t miss the cakes, they look beautiful and taste divine!!!
T. S.
Always great coffee, great food and good service! The cakes are also amazing!
J. K.
Haven't been here in a few months but I'm still thinking about the tuna bowl and the chips- best! The food and staff were never a miss.
l. x.

A. W.
Great cafe with friendly service and a lovely bright space
P. M. J.
That was so beautiful cake and really nice taste too. You can pre order as different size.
Must try!!! Also their breakfast awesome ~
Wait for reopen it.
A. M.
Absolutely love the food and the carefully curated interiors
A. A.
The ambient in this place giving you vibrant feeling, with all the seating position is instagrammable. The coffe they use is speciality coffee, which I choose latte and they use the blend, which balance with the milk. The food are asian fusion (I bought salmon grilled) and giving me smooth taste. Overall are very good.
G.
Great food and quick service. Loved the chilli omelette here.
K. &. D. A.
Lovely vibe and delicious pastries & sweets. The coffee is only ok - not fantastic by Melbourne standards.

Very nice place, nice food and coffee.
It is pleasant to have brunch.
L. D.
Good breakfast menu. Love their "Chillie Scrambled Eggs" and "Hearty Porridge". Tasty and beautifully presented food. Friendly staff and generally good customer service, although on busy days it might take a bit longer for your order to come.
S. N.
Interesting menu. Bread was good. Love the ice latte.
H. J.
I've been coming here for years with my partner. Obviously now we can only get takeaway due to covid but the staff here are some of the best I have come across. They are so lovely and friendly - something we can all appreciate when times are tough. I love this cafe and I will continue to come here for my Friday morning croissant and for brunch post lock-down. Keep up the good work guys, it doesn't go unnoticed!! :)
A. K.
Always a great atmosphere! Coffee and food are delicious, get in early on weekends as there could be a line :)
T. V.
One of the best brunch experience I have had in Melbourne
A. B.
Nice coffee, delicious food and the staff was great with us.. 100% recommended
G. S.
Cool cafe with a lot of options for breakfast.. great interiors..
B.
Seriously sharp food and staff. Evident they are bringing their A Game. Get a Pour Over if you have the chance.
A. D.
How have I not heard of this place earlier? The Crux & Co does everything right.
The decor is so bright, lovely and modern. The team is very professional, it's clear they work hard (our food came out quickly) and are super friendly.
I ordered the Wagyu Beef Katsu Burger which was incredible. The beef was so tasty, and love the idea of beef katsu in a burger as it's usually chicken. The bun was such a beautiful colour because of the beetroot and was my preferred type of bread for burgers too.
They also happily swapped the onion rings for sweet potato fries at my request. My partner had the special Chicken & Waffles which he enjoyed but preferred my burger. The waffles just weren't as impressive as a dish but still tasty.
To be honest, I was super gutted that I was too full to try a dessert - they look so good! But I know I'll be back next time I'm craving cakes.
We did grab an almond croissant for later which was tasty yet very flaky.
Great work Crux & Co!
J. H.
If you're a hipster & want to be seen at a trendy café, you won't be disappointed. If you're after good food at a reasonable price, there are better options.
E. U.
The best matcha croissant I’ve ever had! Also ordered their black sesame cake for my partner’s birthday and we loved it.
R. W.
Friendly staff and comfortable setting indoor and outdoor. Tried 4 small dishes to share over a few drinks , all dishes are delicious and served popping hot. Love the place and food it served !
M. L. T.
Had breakfast here with my baby daughter after my visit to a consulate. I ordered Matcha Latte and a breakfast meal... The presentations are great. I'd say the best Matcha Latte prepared - I can tell the matcha they use is a high quality one and not very milky preparation; commerical like others.
The cafe has a good ambiance and the servers are friendly. We'd definitely come again when we are around St. Kilda.
A. N.
Nice looking place, decent coffee and solid croissants
A. G.
Very friendly staff, nice presentation and high quality ingredients!
A. D.
Great place to have breakfast, lots of interesting flavors on the menu. Good coffee and the cakes are next level.
A. H.
One of the best place in town to get your fix of coffee and cake. I've ordered the lychee cake here many times for birthday occasions and everyone loves it!
Highly recommended.
S. C.
Most wonderful and welcoming cafe in the area. Beautiful design and absolutely fantastic coffee and food that looks like art! And tastes divine - hidden gem! Highly recommend and fabulous staff family owned - such kind service; particularly for patients and visitors to adjacent hospital
O. S.
Still the best place for coffee. But we won’t be coming back for food. They no longer have their signature Pork Egg Benny on the menu. The staff told me they replaced it with lamb but it’s not replacing - totally different recipe and ingredients. Ordered to try but didn’t like it.
B. P.
Such a unique place. Went there for breakfast and it was fantastic. Not just your standard bacon and eggs, an amazing blend of different ingredients to create a taste sensation. If you want something different and satisfying come to crux and co. Coffee is spot on too!
H. A.
Good coffee good food good service & COVIDSafe!

Coffee by Maker Fine and rotating single origin beans. Nice burger

Well let me tell you how this all went
First of all they take your name and advise wait time I have no issue with that,so the wait time was 30 min,all good with that, 40 min later we ask how long, answer 1p min or so, 20 min later I walk in to find out how long and find our name was cross off, when asked they all blamed each other, anyway 1.5 hours later we go in, then I had to ask for service after 15 -20 min, we finally got service and mind you there was only 20 people in there, can't imagine if there was more to deal with what would've happened.
Then our food starts coming out and my daughter spotted hair on her food, she returns it to waiter and it came back with just that section removed, by that time her food was stone cold, we requested a new meal and finally got out of there 2 hours later
Lucky for them the food was good
But that's where it stops I'm afraid
H. M.
Brilliant design that goes against the normal black and wood industrial design with soft pastel colours and a 50's diner, yet somehow modernised, feel.
Impressed by the range of foods (incl. Vegan), the prices are good and so was the coffee.
Amongst so much competition in the area, this cafe stands out and the locals know it! Expect a slightly busier crowd; thankfully the venue is designed for it!
M. B.
I have edited this review! No PORK BURGER anymore! From 5 stars to 3 now! The pork benedict which has replaced it is too mediocre! Previous review: “I have always had pretty good experience here. Customer service is usually good, can be improved a bit though. The food quality is always good. Portions are fairly good. If you go there hungry, don't hesitate to order the pork burger. The coffee is always nice too. The prices are a little bit high though!
A.
Love this place! The food is always well presented but more importantly it tastes delicious. The coffee and drinks are also consistently good and the pastries & cakes are lovely treats!
P. A.
First brunch outing after lockdown and crux and co are back and fabulous. The pork benedict was delicious and the raspberry opera was amazing. Definitely recommended.
S. H.
Delicious food, but really exceptional customer service. I ordered a vegetarian meal today but found a small piece of meat on the side. I ate around and just let the waitress know at the end. I was really surprised how seriously this was taken. I know it may be viewed as more serious if there is an allergy involved and a lot of the time vegetarians or vegans can be laughed off like their dietary request isn’t a “real” enough one. This wasn’t the case and I really appreciate how the staff and manager handled the situation. 100% will be heading back!
B. H.
A great brunch spot in Domain!
Brilliant green tea croissants - try it with the Yuzu marmalade. The other standout dish was the smoked salmon scrambled eggs! The bonito flakes added that extra delicious touch.
Amazing decor, friendly staff, no complaints!

Coincidentally decided to go out somewhere new for brunch on Mother's Day morning before work. A little difficult to find but an aesthetically pleasing, high-end place. Although extremely busy, we were greeted calmly by a friendly staff member and were seated 20mins later as promised. The coffee, food, and service were fantastic. The eclairs we took home were delightful. Staff even offered blankets for people outside waiting for a table. No doubt this place will keep doing well with plenty of customers being tenants in the linked apartment. We will definitely be back.
J.
Came in during breakfast hour, food took a little while 30-40 minutes. Food itself was tasty.
A. L.
Outstanding brunch venue with flavoursome menu items. Had the matcha green tea brioche bun mushroom burger which had lovely textures and colours. The freshly squeezed orange juice was a great palate cleanser. Highly recommend this place!
M. N.
Warm friendly service with delicious fusion meals.
K. K. C.
Everything was good and yummy. Would definitely recommend
J. C.
Food and coffee was good, however overall this place is not stand out.
f.
Food is great, coffee (from what i'm told - not a coffee drinker) is great, if I had to pick between this place and kettle black, I'd pick this place, the food portions are bigger so its just the slightly better value for money.
S. W.
Very modern and nice looking cafe. Green tea croissants had already sold out by 10.30am on a Saturday which was a real shame. They could have made more batches. Had the pork belly dish which was nice, the breakfast and sausage roll were average and coffee as expected in Melbourne. Experience let down by not being very baby/family friendly as out of a 110 seat cafe there was only 1 high chair which is a bit shocking... Would go again only once they can provide more high chairs.
A.
Nice food, alright coffee
D. P. F.
One of the good places in the area . food is fine and it would be enjoyable if the staff was a bit more welkoming.
The person at front counter never smiles. It looks like she is not too happy to be there.
We were seated on the fist table next to the door literally 2 meters away from that girl.
Tried to attract her attention for our order to be taken. She was so busy talking to another staff member that we were totally ignored for good 5min.
I would expect a single look at the waiter to be enough to attract attention, especially at a place like this.
I went for a take away coffe few days after and guess what? Same person at the front ,again looking like she hates her job.
3 stars for the food. If I had an option to rate their service it would be NO STARS.

Crux & Co is a brunch cafe that will leave a lasting impression. Located just outside of the CBD, it is well worth the journey from where ever you may be in Melbourne.
One of the first things you'll notice is just how large, and beautiful the cafe is. It is furnished fantastically, with excellent ambient lighting. Staff will greet you promptly, and if you're lucky, you'll be shown to your table almost immediately. We were a group of two, but there were a few larger groups that were waiting inside for a table. A place as good as this is bound to have a bit of a wait so expect it.
Coffee here was superb. My partner ordered a latte while I had a machiatto. Both were made with care, and both tasted excellent.
Shortly after finishing our coffees, food arrived. The time between ordering our food, and it arriving at our table was about 10 minutes. Really impressive considering every table in the establishment was occupied.
The food itself was tremendous. My partner's matcha pancakes appeared to have taken meticulous preparation, and the pork burger I ordered did not disappoint. They were something really special to look at. The pork burger was simply delicious, while the matcha pancakes were not loved by my partner, but that is more due to her disliking the flavours than a fault of the dish itself.
We took some house-made croissants with us, and ate them later in the day, and they were some of the best we've had. Fluffy, crisp and very tasty, they are a must have if you visit here.
Crux & Co definitely exceeded my expectations and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great brunch option.
T. W.
A little hard to find as it's not overly obvious. Generous portions and tasty food. Can be a little busy. Coffee was reasonable, if perhaps not quite hot enough. Well worth a look if Kettle Black is too busy (like always).
M. R.
We used to love coming here. Food was always good, coffee was always decent. Today was unfortunately very different and disappointing.
This place only has two high chairs, and that's it.
We came in on a somewhat busy Saturday lunch service, place was almost full.
We asked the wait staff for a table for two and a high chair, and we were told that there were only two high chairs available. We were then offered a seat by the window with two chairs, and she offered the high chair for us for a while - until the family in front of us had their seat, and it would be taken away from us. This could be five minutes, could be ten minutes apparently.
We queried whether there was a chair at least with a high back that my 17 month old boy can at least sit on, and she pointed to two stools that were available and said that that's the only alternative. She said we can also wait until a table became available - but shrugged us off when asked approximately how long.
I don't expect the wait staff to go all out of their way, to be honest, but at least I expected them to try and show a little bit of initiative.
We were told to wait, and so I crossed the road to the busier Kettle Black who had a queue out on the road. The staff there said they had a limited number of high chairs, but could put us up in a chair with a high back if my child could seat and wait until one is available. Fifteen minutes, they said.
Walked back over, and were not offered any alternatives by the staff at Crux. We sadly said not to worry.
The same wait staff just asked - are you going? Not explanation, no apology, that's it.
So, we crossed over the road, where I am writing this review and sipping on a nice set of coffee and waiting for brunch.
It's sad because we had wanted to dine at Crux, but maybe until we are out without our son or when we entertain friends without children, we can't really plan to be back.
D. Y. M.
I got brunch here .wow it was so good more than i expect. Service was good as well.
Highly recommend.
G. N.
One of my go to brunch places, we used to come here every fortnight until they got rid of our favourite crab chilli scrambled eggs 😭 please please bring it back at it is always such a hit with anyone we've recommended this dish to..
A. H.
Best place in the area for an early breakfast. They also have tasty croissants.
Re reviewed: quality of the menu has significant declined, but it has survived covid
p. m.
This was beautiful meal and great service
James, the Manager was very helpful. When we picked up an error with our meal, he was incredibly apologetic and generous in compensating
Over all, a terrific Sunday experience and we would highly recommend this cafe.
Thanks very much James.
P. R.
The staff was calm and attentive even when it seemed like the venue was busy. Some of the dishes served here look like pieces of art. My meal was as delicious as it was aesthetically pleasing. Ironically I forgot to take a photo! I'll be back.
L. A.
Great coffee, food, atmosphere & service. Chilli scrambled eggs, black sesame hot cakes & corn fritters were absolutely delicious
P. B.
Great brunch food at reasonable prices and good coffee too :) friendly staff as well, will recommend this place as your go to brunch spot!

The best place I've been to in Melbourne. Great decor, staff are attentive and the coffee and food is amazing. Do yourself a favour and get there as you won't be disappointed. May have to wait for a seat which is worth it.
m. f.
Great coffee, great food, great service, food beautifully presented. Staff very attentive, especially with 2 small children. Lovely atmosphere..must visit!
T. H.
Perfect location mixed with delicious food...perfect
A. S.
U guys never failed to amaze me every time
A. L.
Delicious food and great coffee.
The food's presentation is instagram worthy at the same time being tasty and fresh.
I had the vegetarian breakfast which included toast, eggs, mushies, tomatoes, avo, greens and feta, it was delish
M. T.
The breakfast choices are limited but the taste is surprisingly very good. Beautiful place and very nice design. I do not recommend the almond coffee though.
T. W.
We loved the combination of flavours and textures as well as the presentation of our meals. The fennel pickles on the smashed avo were sooooooo good!
C. K.
Great Food & Desserts/Cakes that change regularly (seasonally). Awesome service, in a very busy cafe. Love it!
T. L.
Great food and atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful.
A. B.
My Experience at the The Crux & Co was absolutely fantastic. Speedy service, great atmosphere and most of all delicious food. It was an absolute pleasure all around and i'll make this a regular place to visit whenever i'm in Melbourne.
Z. N.
Friendly staff to delicious food. Me and my girlfriend had a very good time! I later scored a homerun for taking her to such an amazing place :))
M. P.
This place is just excellent. Fantastic food with several vegan options. Great and attentive service. Good prices. Great atmosphere.
I would recommend this place to just about anyone.
A. B. C.
Coffee is above what I expected - prompt service. Pleasant surprise
P. S.
Awesome Ahi bowl...poke with truffle egg
J. B.
Food never fails to impress, coffee is always strong and tastes great!
G. M.
It's amazing and the food there is great but the tomato sauce is additional $1!? Ridiculous
A. N.
Good vibes, good coffee, yummy food.
R. W.
Food is really good, only reason not giving it 5 is because coffee beans are maybe not the best around but barista is good and coffee is still decently good.
I.
Amazing, healthy choices. Really well done. Only gripe is parking, it's all paid. But apart from that, food was excellent. Be aware this is at the bottom of the emerald building.
C. D.
Warm and friendly staff, great tasting and creative pastries, and lovely interior design of the cafe. Has already won over many customers who are now regulars.
T. P.
Good coffee and great selection of foods. Unfortunately the place suffers from the dreaded Melbourne coffee complex with a basic batch brew commanding a $4 premium.
N. M.
Warm greetings, speedy service, helpful, lovely decor. Yum coffee. Delicious looking sweets. Try the calamari for a snack :)! The best cafe of the area. 👌🏼
L. L.
Everything was lovely! Staffs were really nice
B. B.
Excellent fitout. Great coffee and excellent food and pastries. All made onsite. Best cafe in the area. Although the one across the road is great too! Spoilt for choice.
G. C.
Unmissable pastries. Mellow and enjoyable coffee cup-after-cup. Creative and flavourful food. Attentive and friendly staff, always.
K. M.
Really quick and friendly service, the food is incredible - try their eggs Bennie or the calamari salad.
Coffee and croissant are fab on the go 🥐
J. N. C.
The food and drinks are really good and the atmosphere is so nice. Kind of lost my appetite though when a bird flew in and pooped right next to us.
F. D.
Used to be great. I previously rated this a 5 but after visiting today - majorly disappointed. The menu has changed, and the amount of avo you get on the new smashed avo is tiny. Mismatched ingredients. Weird.
R. D.
They have good selection for brekky and desserts. They also serve some good coffee.
V. C.
One of the best brunch places in melb. They have a very different take on the usual dishes, adding an Asian fusion twist
S. S.
fantastic place,lots of memory
M. S.
Another of Melbourne's high end cafe's. Food was excellent coffee was decent. Take away deserts were great.
C. M. D.
Been there for both breakfast and lunch. Both meals were great.

Pleasantly surprised to find this fab eatery just outside my front door Finding myself wanting to take pics of the sweets and cakes display it looks so "good enough to eat" Next time definally Cherry&Nutella waffles 😘

S. C.
Lovely interior. Staff were nice, very reasonable price for such nice brunch in this area. Will definitely be back for more.
J. C.
Delicious, although the espresso had a salty taste. Nothing a small amount of sugar couldn't cover
G. B.
I had smashed avocado with extra 2 eggs and regular cappuccino which supposed to be 27.50 but they charged me 31.65 , was good food but pretty disappointing with calculation they made .
J. M.
Traditional brunches with a twist. Really good alternative to kettle black. Super friendly staff. Laid back and relaxing.
J. A. A.
Love coming here on a weekend despite a bit of wait for a table. The food is worth it, the coffee is worth it, the service is worth it... And the desserts!!
I. C.
So yummy. So Instagram-able. Good coffee. Attentive & quick service. So many good things about the place.
N. M.
Beautiful and really tasty
蔡.

A. M.
Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere with welcoming, friendly staff. Will definitely be back!

Nice coffee but not the best almond croissant, I could taste the almond essence. Plain croissant are nice.
J. N.
Great place well staffed with great people. A few things on the breakfast menu which are not run of the mill which is great to see.
S. F.
There was a queue but eveeyone was happy to wait even in the rain. Speedy service once we seated and magnificent food delivered promptly.

Great vibe. Lovely decor. Brunch food with a twist.
A. J.
Nice coffee and breakfast. Good service. Decor and atmosphere is a freshing change from the retro industrial.
D. S.
Hands down best cafe this side of the city; atmosphere, service, menu, all right on point.
D. H.
Pretty good food but expensive and service isn't the best. They are not flexible in modifying menus to accommodate guests.
E. Y.
Moist not dry pork burger. Mushroom burger with matcha bun was the highlight for me. Yum yum
C. C.
I love this place excellent croissant and cakes, the vegetarian breakfast is so good!
J. B.
Great brunch spot, 1 of the few places with matcha latte in the area
L. b. D.
Not sure if we went in at a wrong time or the staff ain't coordinating each other. We waited at least half an hour before we get served for lunch and was firstly left at the stool near the entry even there were free 'booked' tables. Maybe a wrong day. Maybe.
X. C.
Love the food here but the service has been rather appalling every time I’ve been here. This is my fourth time now and it really hasn’t gotten any better.
i. b.
Variety of options. Healthy and Hygiene
N. A.

Great food! (And in my personal opinion, better than Kettle Black).
R. B.
Food is amazing, range of cakes is to die for.
Coffee is pricey only thing I could fault.
V. S.
Delicious, creative menu and reasonably priced
J. M.
Great layout and food, however the breakfast food portions seem to be getting smaller unfortunately
E. B.
