Stopped by the spade when in Melbourne recently. Really cool joint with great coffee and really friendly staff. Definitely the pick of the coffee places in Glenroy and was busy with locals grabbing their morning fix. Great interior and good vibes all round. Loved the rock pics on the walls and overall design.

Oh! Such great food. Mind blowing. I loved the Acai bowl, distinguishly different from other cafes. And vegetarian bowls were also very yum! I was fortunate to be invited to a Christmas event held at The Spade cafe in Glenroy. The cafe itself was very spacious, and was perfect for our group. I got to try a great selection of the dishes from their menu, but the standout for me was their classic cheese toastie, it was so cheesy & perfectly toasted. The staff were very efficient & catered to all our needs perfectly. I also got to meet the owners who were very friendly & welcoming! It has a great family friendly atmosphere, and is perfect for functions & special occasions, or brunch with your bestie.

My venue of choice for a coffee fix. When possible I like to dine in due to the relaxed vibe, friendly staff & the belief I'm supporting in a small way an entrepreneurial venture that has no doubt faced head wins since opening in Glenroy. So I was annoyed today to find Spade closed well before their widely advertised time of 4pm. First world problem I know, but I'd driven 3 postcodes, past Starbucks & other options, in order to continue to support these guys in my small, negligible even, way. I guess it is their prerogative to close 45 minutes early, perhaps a "subject to change without notice" could be added to the closure time if early closure is the norm. Or perhaps an apology on the shop front if the closure was unforseen. Anyway, hoping this was an exception, look forward to further positive experiences with Spade soon.

Wow!! Thoroughly impressed with this place!! An absolute gem tucked away in Glenroy! Menu is really amazing, slowly working our way through it! Hot drinks are on point, my go to being the turmeric latte! Great vego and vegan options! Love it

We had such an amazing time today at @thespademelbourne trying delicious dishes they serve. . . They offer breakfast, brunch & lunch dishes along with heaps of gluten free and vegan options available as well. . . Some of the major highlight dishes were- Gluten free eggs, tofu burrito, scrambled eggs with nachos, open burrito bowl & hotcakes with raspberries & passionfruit. . . We enjoyed the good food and company of our fellow bloggers at their cafe. . . Do go and try when you get a chance!!

Overall a very pleasant meal. The food and drinks were nice and had a bit of quirk to them. If you are a fan of black coffee I recommend the brew as it has some nice fruity hints to it.

I recently visited Spade Glenroy, i enjoyed the food however in my opinion i could not justify being charged a ‘service fee’ on EACH item i ordered whilst processing my own order, via my phone when i really didn’t receive any service at all.

Great place to eat, have delicious vegan options too. The chai tea was very nice, as was the hot chocolate. the waiting staff was friendly and attentive too. The only thing I could critique is, the cup sizes, which are a little misleading when you are not looking at the writing on them. They should be labeled "small" "medium" and 'large", not "small", "large" and "jumbo". And if a person asks the waiter if the chocolate powder is vegan, and the food they ordered is vegan, then make sure you don't forget to put on the order that the hot chocolate is not made with regular cow milk, as I ended up with an allergy after having a sip of my drink with the wrong milk. Apart from that, this cafe is highly recommended, and I would return.

Recently visited this cafe for a family function. The cafe is easily located next to Barry Plant Real Estate with ample parking near by. The decor is modern with plenty of room to move about and it is well lit and heated. This is just the beginning of this little treasure. The food is outstanding quality; freshly prepared and served hot. It also offers a good selection of wines and the coffee is superb. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. This little gem ticks all the boxes and I will be definitely planning another visit very soon. Can't wait to get some more beef sliders, lamb meatballs and arancini. MRW

The Spade is the best breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in Glenroy. The menu is accommodating to dietary requirements, not too big that you feel overwhelmed and not too small that there are limited choices. The staff are friendly, the service is quick and the food is always hot, delicious and prompt. I have been vegan for 16 years and the vegan chicken burger sits on top of the list of all-time delicious burgers including burgers had from legendary vegan eateries in America. The coffee is consistent and they really came through for the local community during lockdown. Gaz is always up for a chat to hear what you think about the food. Local or not you will feel welcomed at The Spade and their other eateries across Melbourne.

Hands down best coffee in Glenroy. I purchased one cup and drank it on the way to the chemist so less than 5 minutes later I was back for more! I was sad I had only my small keepcup with me. Ordered a large cappuccino and large mocha for my daughter yesterday. Cappuccino was perfect but my daughter’s mocha wasn’t. The coffee taste in her mocha was so bitter. Maybe they re-used the coffee grounds from my cappuccino. Not sure but it was disappointing.

I was here for a long catch up and chat from the other side of Melbourne with a brother who lives around here, and we couldn't have had anywhere better to enjoy ourselves for nearly two hours. Edit 3: Recently visited the place again and I must say that they have really improved the quality of coffee. Hence updating the review Edit 2: Another edit for this restraunt. They used to serve good coffee, but recently I noticed their quality has gone down to 0 either becuase of change in their barista or coffee beans. I tried them 2 times with mocha after my last incident, but unfortunatly it is still the same. So changing my rating to 1 star. Edit 1: There had been 1 instance when i was served one of the worst mocha but I called the restraunt to sort that out and i was promised for a replacement coffee. Orignal review: Great coffee and almond croissant was also nice. Cosy place to have a nice breakfast.

I always order the Açai bowl and it is one of my favourites. The price is great and so is the food. I have tried $20 Açai bowls that’s don’t even taste good. Very happy. I will continue to keep ordering the açai bowl as it never seems to disappoint.

Wow! I love love love The Spade! Such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I can tell the locals LOVE it. The whole menu is super vegan friendly (and other dietary requirements catered for too). I was blown away by all the options for me. I tried the Mushroom Melody with a VEGAN EGG! I was so impressed by the appearance, texture and taste of this 'egg'. The mushrooms themselves were so flavourful. I also tried the Golden Bowl which was super sweet and decadent. The PB was a highlight! The green juice is super yummo too. Can't wait to go back and try the vegan burger, or maybe the tofu breaky burrito... SO GOOD!

Spade is the best coffee shop in the northern suburbs! The food and the coffees are amazing! A trendy coffee shop. Nice open space for comfortable seating but I'm not sure these guys know how to make a cappuccino. A Cappuccino is meant to have chocolate dusting on top but you never seem to get it here. It's always a latte. 😐
