Very good food, super fresh and quite a nice variety, great value $ 👌. One of my favourites is the hollandaise dish and delivered straight to my door.
A. A.
Thank you so much for the amazing Father’s Day hamper that we enjoyed today! Was delicious and so well planned and thought out that it catered to everyone! We look forward to visiting you once lockdown is over 😊
S. R.
Thank You so much for the delicious Father's Day hamper. We enjoyed it thoroughly and my husband was upset that it was all gone so quickly. Highly recommend and thank you

This is a really cute cafe, the Polish items on the menu make it really stand out! I've had the pierogi several times and they are always amazing! Also good sweet potato fries, drinks, and cakes - they're just all-round good! ☺️

Looove this place! Very friendly staff and amazing sweets & food! Also very comfy, always clean, and always playing good music, to keep the nice vibes going, but on a good volume, so we can still have good conversations and listen to each other very comfortably. Best cafe in Balaclava!
D. P.
Cosy vibe, plenty of space for socially distanced socialising, and amazing, authentic Polish food . There’s also you’re more traditional cafe food staples for the cafe conservatives.
The friendly ‘ma and pa’ corner store owners are the real deal. You can usually find them either in the kitchen cooking up a tornado-sized storm or behind the counter brewin’ the good beans. And so far as coffee goes… it’s good. Like, yum-good. And besides who can say no to $2.5 coffee during rush hour? Nobody that’s who. Nobody and toddlers but so? They don’t even touch the stuff. Bunch of caffeine tee-totallers if you ask me. Babyccino? Cherub please.
Seriously glad this business has (so far) weathered the latest lockdown because they’re a Balaclava staple. I hope they stay the course and weather any and all storms come what may, sans said storms cooked up in said kitchen.
Five stars!
And a side of sauerkraut, please.
P. A.
Yummy Spanish omelette and apple strawberry and lime juice. Very tasty. The cafe was a little cold as they left the doors open in winter. Beautiful ambience. Nice staff
I.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was pretty good, serving Polish and eastern European meals. Good selection of pastries and cakes.
D. A.
One of the great cafes here, the service was perfect and fast, and the staff here are friendly and welling to help you with a smile. We ordered long black, It was great and tasty. We also ordered a chocolate Fondant, it was very delicious. I do recommend this place for who want a great service and good food

I've been to this cafe on many occasions and it has become a favourite. The menu has a great variety of dishes to choose from, but most of all their cakes; made on the premises, are delicious. Many gluten free options are available. The staff are wonderful. I particularly enjoy the fact that a large room is available for family occasions. I had a birthday brunch there recently and the whole family were more than happy. Plenty of parking behind the shops along Carlisle Street.
M. W.
Best Polish donuts I’ve had in years, even better than in Poland!! I recommend donuts with smokey plum confiture filling. Great coffee too! It’s a perfect place for a little treat :) Loved the ambience on a Monday morning
C. M.
Awesome service. Went there just to have a quick bite and well motivated staff ended up explaining few of the other available options... end uo staying longer than expected enjoying great food at good prices.
A. D.
Stopped by for a coffee recently- thought I'd check out Truffles since it always seems to be busy when I walk by.
The coffee was fine, and I'd go back again for a drink and snack for sure. Truffles is definitely not a hip brunch destination, but offers more classic, homely food items.
I do really like how spacious it is inside, it's quite a relaxing space to sit in.
A. L.
Awesome coffee and pastries. Good selection of food for brunch/lunch
S. M.
Best coffee I've had in St Kilda so far!
Huge selection of delicious baked goods. They've even got a vegan selection, and food that is both dairy and gluten free (for poor suckers like myself). Albeit, their gf, non-dairy range could be broader.
T. S.
Great food. Great cakes! And friendly service too ❤️

Our first trip into Melbourne from Bendigo since lockdown on a Friday looking for lunch and everything was closing or stopping food service at 2pm. We were like what’s going on. So we walked into Truffles and were meet with unbelievable hostility. We sat on Carlisle St and had a glass of bubbles and a negroni with their big breakfast and it was perfection. Food, service and atmosphere were exceptional. We even had locals stop and pat our dog and chat, it was a great experience. Support these local traders they’ll make it worth your while. They love customers!

I had hunter stew and opera cake. I never had polish dish so can't say I was expecting cabbage saute for soup but taste was good. But it would've been nice if butter was still included in takeout box, as bread was quite bland to eat alone. Cake was very nice, little bit small compare to how it used to be? I will visit again for another polish dish and cake for sure :)

Salami focaccia is so delicious.
Friendly lady staff with a big smile.
M.
Amazing coffee, and the cakes are divine. Honestly this place is one of the best kept secrets outside of 'main' St Kilda and well worth the extra few stops on the 16.
S.
Amazing customer service and delicious, good quality food. I ordered a Polish Babka cake to be delivered over the phone and the gentleman was extremely helpful and kind and went above and beyond by adding a handwritten note with the order. Thank you so much, you made our Easter!
T. H.
This venue is delicious!
The coffee is well worth it, there is plenty of bakery items to choose from including cakes not to mention great service!
T. B.
Home made vegetarian soup was a treat. The customer service amazing and a nice overall atmosphere.

Visited before moving to Melbourne a year ago and now a regular that we are finally here. I carry a pram so the staff always help me with my order. They also take time to make you understand what you are ordering (just ask a question). I like going here for coffee, a soda, or kombucha paired with croissant, cake or lasagna. I mostly order burgers for lunch and they are quite good and filling. Our default Balaclava stop alone with my newborn and / or with the hubby. I don't understand the negative reviews as all of them are friendly and the food are fresh and good. My sister gifted us a cake and it was good lasting more than a week. No molds or stale signs at all. Manager is also very nice
V. L.
Great place for desserts, pastries and coffee. Dinner menu looks interesting too...
A.
The food was absolutely delicious! And I had the best hot chocolate that I have had in a long time. Customer service was really nice with the employees being friendly.
S. C.
Lovely staff and chilled place with yummy bites

A good spot for coffee and one of many sweet treats. Lunch time their salads are tasty and available to take back to your desk. Specials often have a Eastern European touch. Their standards, pulled pork sandwiches and burgers are also satisfying.
L. S.
Cakes look great, but the food is outstanding. This is an authentic Polish restaurant and they wowed my mother, who being born in Poland, and picky with food at the best of times, is hard to please these days. She really enjoyed everything she ate.
They have traditional tripe and sauerkraut dishes, their schnitzels are every bit as good as the old Scheherazade used to be on Acland Street (which is the highest accolade you can give a schnitzel).
The food is just tasty and delicious without being overspiced or overwhelming.
Service was also fabulous and definitely going there often.
Went back again today. Food did not disappoint. Mum went with the tripe again and it was even better than last time. I have actually picked it up and brought it home for her a few times and she rates it 'outstanding' every time.
This time I went with the duck, which was excellent. It came with red cabbage which is the best I've ever had, and the accompanying sliced, creamed potatoes may have been a heart attack waiting to happen, but what a way to go ! Heaven in your mouth and waiting for more ! Definitely coming back.
M. B.
Very kind service. The best veggie burger I've had since coming to Melbourne. A little on the greasy side but so much flavour. Coffee was good. And free open WiFi!
L. T.
Nice cakes and coffee. Indoors and outside seating. My cheese was very good.
D.
I got my son's birthday cake from here - a lovely boat and lighthouse themed cake which was simply delicious. The little savoury treats came from Jarek and team as well which were yummy and something everyone enjoyed. I love how engaging Jarek was when I approached him with an idea of the birthday cake. Guests loved the food and left with huge smiles on their faces.

Fantastic cosy cafe/restaurant mix. Coffee is great. Beautiful seating and food if you want a sit down meal; spacious working area with outlets and wifi if you want to work or just relax with a coffee. The staff is fantastic. This is my go-to whenever I'm in the area. Would strongly recommend.
C. D.
A good spot for coffee and a something sweet or a lunch. Salads are tasty and if you're looking for something more substantial, their lunches are a good choice. They do some traditional lunches like burgers and pulled pork, but also do European style cooking, like cabbage rolls. The pastry display is impressive. They also feature some fancy pants chocolates.

"Guest in the house, God in the house!" - Polish expression
A great cafe with a mix of European (Polish!) and Australian classics, and some of the best croissants in Melbourne!
K. L. W.
Interesting range of food. Pleasant staff. Gluten free catered for. Some meals overcooked.
A. W.
Fabulous coffee and pastries! Really nice staff as well. We LOVED the $2.50 morning coffee 'Happy Hour'... If only we loved closer, we'd be there every day!
K.
Ordered the tiramisu here for take away. Was very nice! Only downside was that they put it in a paperbag, rather than a box/container. Food eventually got soggy.
D. L.
I have had breakfast and lunch here several times, really enjoy the atmosphere, good service, amazing food. and i think i have got through most of the cake options. i also got my kids birthday cakes here this year and everyone was impressed. Highly recommended.
N. M.
Great place! The homemade granola is delicious and the coffee is also good!
L. K.
Our breakfast was fresh, tasty and nicely presented. Good coffee too!
E. C.
I’ve only had coffee, but it was very good and really cheap (I was there for happy hour). I’ve been here a few times now and have always been served by very friendly staff. The cakes look amazing too
S. A.

It doesn't look like much, but surprisingly delicious food! The eggs and bacon, and the perogi, were highlights.
A.
Friendly staff and affordable prcing.

Truffles is easily the best cafe on Carlisle Street and sorounding. Friendly and warm with none of the obsene prices you can find in other cafes and restaurants around this area.
J. S.
Great place for a coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a beer at the end of the week. If you're after the best makowiec (poppy seed roll) you're ever going to have then head here.
D. M.
Had the Lamb Shanks for lunch. Amazing so nice. Will definitely be back.
D. M.

Bought the peach and passionfruit sponge cake with a layer of grenache as a birthday cake for nine year olds. Staff were very helpful explaining the pricing and cake contents and also for pickup. There were many compliments on the delicious cake at the party.
R. B.

K. A.
Delicious food with a Polish twist. Great coffee, and always welcoming of prams. Love the big communal table at the front.

O. Z.
Nice place and good menu. The service is fast and polite, girls are familiar with food offered, you don't see it everywhere... and vareniki.. great. Recommending.
L.
One of my local hangouts. Great place to get delicious food or sit and have a coffee and do some work. Staff are always friendly and service is fast.
G. S.
Run by people who used to run Europa in Acland St. Great selection of sweet things, food and alcohol. Great atmosphere, ample seating, quick service.
A. R. S.
Good food. Great people.
A. B.
I love this "restaurant & bakery-style/in a cafe" place!!Went there recently for dinner & thank goodness they've extended their business hours on some nights of the week & not only open for breakfast & lunch regularly-the food's different but also very nice..They even included an alcoholic beverage in with dinner & the service's excellent-efficient & good attitude!!Price also worth it.1 of the"vegan" cakes I'd there I didn't like but the others were very much what I liked albeit unusual too..The eggs benedict for breakfast was nice but served up in a way I haven't had before although "variety's the spice of life"..Certainly better than 2 of the other places in Melbourne & St Kilda I'd the eggs benedict.
K. H.
Ok service. The breakfast though was questionable, with over cooked eggs and dry Polish sausage 😔
K. K.
Great place to have lunch or just coffee. Friendly too. Need more toilets tho. Had to go back and forth.. not easy with mobility issues.
O. G.

K. B.
I love the pastry in this cafe, especially the Polish donuts !
I was craving some good polish lunch and the other day I have ordered Bigos (Hunter's Stew) and I was really disappointed. It had nothing to do with a stew. It was only sauerkraut warmed up with slices of sausage. It was super sour, it had no cabbage or proper Bigos seasoning. I was so disappointed :( If you want to show someone polish cousine that definitely would not be it. I also had a soup - Krupnik, that was pretty good.
