Comments of Lo Quay River Cafe

This is one of favourite breakfast and coffee places in Perth. Lots of seating options… if you have kids, it’s a great place for young mommy’s catch up. You can have a relaxing coffee while they play in the play area. It has a place for all age groups. Busy… so book a table before you land.
J. W.
Lots of space inside and outside by the river. Came here with a group of friends and easily found a table for the severs of us. There is a play ground near by. Appears to be pet friendly too - or rather - there were many pets while we were there. Do check the timings, there is a short window between breakfast and lunch where the kitchen does a changeover.
R. M.
Went back recently, the service has improved and the play area is very popular with families. The food is ok.
The location is nice, but it's quite busy on a Sunday for brunch with a 10 person line. The food looked nice but lacked any real flavour. The freshly squeezed juices were nice tho. Nothing here to make me come back.
P. W.
A wonderful cafe on the river. Plenty of outdoor seating in both sunny and shaded areas. I have an extensive menu and a wide range of cakes and desserts. Plenty of drink options including tea and coffee. Food and drinks are ordered at the counter and delivered to your table. This is a very popular venue and reservations are recommended. You may miss out on a table if you don't make a reservation.
G. W.
Friendly, multicultural staff. A really good strong and smooth coffee made exactly to my instructions (well done) and just a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the view. Nice crowd. Seagulls are very cheeky so protect your food..

The last time I was here was some 10 years ago under a different name by a different operator. It wasn’t good but I’m very happy that I’m here again and a different operator with a nice name of Lo Quay River Cafe.
Ordered the Scones for myself and the Mushroom Stilton Bruschetta for my wife.
First the scones, it crumbled nicely and wasn’t sweet or overly firm. In other words, perfectly done in house.
Now for the mushroom stilton bruschetta, superb that’s what I can say.
There’s more, the pot of Earl Grey tea was very fragrant and well brewed.
The staff were friendly and very pleasant to interact with. This cafe deserves more than the 5 stars rating available.

Mothers' Day, a busy time for a first visit to a cafe, but we did it today. My son and I took my wife for a morning coffee/tea at the delightful Lo Quay River Cafe. The location on the Canning River is wonderful with magnificent shade trees, the sunlight on the river, black swans and other waterbirds swimming or preening on the riverbank.
Of course on Mothers Day the place was crowded but a table was found for us and our orders taken. "Morning coffee" turned into brunch as my son ordered the Large Breakfast to share with his Mum and what a meal it was - HUGE! I had a mixed berry muffin (also huge) and coffee. son had a caramel milkshake with ice cream whipped in, Mother had Turmeric Latte with coconut milk, I had flat white coffee. Price of $42 was reasonable given the amount of food.
Even though it was very busy time the staff were all friendly, helpful, polite and efficient. The whole event was very satisfying. Will definitely go again.
P. K.
Look, lovely place and the staff work hard, but service can be slow just because of how many customers there are.
One note for those visiting with children - access to the river means constant supervision required
G. R.
Nice hot chocolate, very clean, view of the river, and bushland. Very pretty indeed, outdoor heaters, the smell of fresh bread heating up, very friendly and professional staff, clean toilets with toilet paper you can actually use, contemporary/chill out music playing.
Overall pretty great.
M. c.
Love doing my breakfast and watching birds and water sight is simple amazing
R. B.
Nice place, lovely staff.my meal was great. The kids pancakes were massive maybe a little bit too big for my kids but they absolutely loved them. The location is so beautiful with a great view of river and fresh air. This place gets busy so plan accordingly. The playground is excellent and the kids will love it.
N. B.
This was a lovely big breakfast and nice coffee. Peaceful cafe with a beautiful park near by for my family and I to spend some time playing and walking near the water.
F.
Lo Quay is usually busy so we often book in advance. It's a lovely spot by the river with a great little playground adjacent. The food is tasty as are the smoothies. Be prepared to queue up in a slightly awkward spot to order and then to wait a while for your food. Most staff are not particularly friendly, however there are some exceptions. Overall worth a visit.
R. H.
The environment is very good, the food is delicious, and the ingredients are quite large!
E. B.
This cafe is often busy but the team works amazingly together. Super efficient and the area makes it a beautiful place to wait for your food or drinks. Always a large range of cakes in the cabinet and great coffee and smoothies.
S. P.
Beautiful setting, on the banks of the river. The outdoor seating of the cafe was relaxing and tranquil. The scones ($5.50) were warm, fresh and scrumptious! I ordered the chocolate milkshake which was mediocre, both on presentation and taste. Not worth it for $7.50.
A. H.
Great location views of the river and plenty of outdoor setting options limited indoor tables so if required I recommend booking ahead serving sizes are generous and the meals our group had were above expectations value wise quite good value for money and plenty of options
Vegan and gluten free option were available and a range if daily specials also available coffee option and quality 4/5 worth stopping for coffee and cake alone tea options avalible and served in pot recommend you try a visit
C. B.
Everybody loved their food except me. The ceasar wrap had huge anchovies in it, I get that that is the traditional way however I couldn't eat it. Burger and New York reuben looked great.
Next will try the cake
On a side note, cleaning tables needs to be quicker so seagulls stay away.
L. B.
The quality of this place is great, wonderful scenic location.
NOTE - Lo Quay River Cafe is a very popular place for families with young children to meet, it is often VERY busy after school-drop off time and between 3-5. Still worth it though, great coffee and food selection with experienced staff.
D. B.
One of the best places for an informal catch-up. Terrific location on the river, excellent food and service, with a goodly number of priority parking for mobility impaired, and plenty of hassle free parking for everyone else. Good toilet facilities on site and in the adjacent carpark.
N. B.
Lovely setting by the river, tables among shady trees, nice mix of indoor, breezy undercover and outdoor seating. Breakfast menu looks quite good but finishes at 11.30am and sadly the lunch has zero savory vegan options, only those ubiquitous high calorie sweet raw bars. Disappointed in that, also found mango passionfruit smooth disappointing, was watery, and not made with fresh ingredients. My friend had a spinach quiche type thing, also very disappointing because they microwave the pastry, making it inedible. Pastry must be reheated in a convection oven, not microwave. Better still, keep and serve at room temperature. Basically, food looks good and is expensive but from the taste is actually very disappointing.
B. H.
Food was fantastic, large serves and delicious. Great value for money and the service was quick and polite despite it being an almost full house. A great view both inside and out with a fantastic play area for the kids. Highly recommended.
N. B.
Best caesar salad ever.
Went back 6 days ago and waited for ages without being served. Staff just walked past or around and one was on their phone.
So left quite disappointed.
Went there 4 days ago for a barbie with the family.
Was great.
Good little play ground for the kids
R. C.
This cafe is my favorite place. There is playground so I always use this place as mother's cath up.
J. R.
We did a long walk today and we really needed this, relaxing music and some nice coffee, smoothie and carrot cake with amazing lake views. This place is just great, customer service was also great, thank you so much, we will be back someday 😊👍
E. L.
What a great place to relax and pass time. Good for family outing and chit chating. The environment was so peaceful and beautiful. Nice coffee. Bring your guitar mate! Cheers.
B. M.
Had breakfast with a mate there and food/ service staff were first class.
Michael (I think) the waiter duly noted I was struggling with my dry muesli as I’d scoffed the Greek yoghurt, grabbed an extra small serve of yoghurt for me and all sorted.Sometimes the small details make all the difference to an event.
Great attitude and friendly service, we took note and we’ll be back.
Thank you 👍
K. T.
Had a great day celebrating by birthday today here. It's lovely sitting outside overlooking the river and enjoying the birds and the sounds of children playing in the nearby park. Food and coffee was very nice and at reasonable prices. Public toilets near by and ability needs parking close to the cafe.
D. R.
I'm a little delayed in posted this, but my partner and I went here for the first time ever (23/04/2022), for take away lunch and I honestly can't fault the place. Staff were so welcoming and friendly and the food we received was so tasty and we are both looking forward to more. Hopefully when I get a chance again, we will be back soon. My partner ordered the fish and chips, and I ordered the toasted chicken on Turkish bread, (can't remember what it was called exactly), but I did order it without avo as I don't eat avo, and they were very accommodating. Thankyou Lo Quay River Cafe
M. J.
Very lovely cafe! Great food! Portion sizes are very generous! One of the best veggie big breakfasts ever had! Despite the long wait for ordering, the kitchen was quite quick and it was impressive to see they pumped the food out faster than expected! Great work guys 👌🏻
J. B.
Go here on a nice sunny day for lunch, it has a nice relaxing atmosphere. Also fork up the $25 for the fillet stake sandwich meal. I promise it won't disappoint.
B. O.
Love this place you can walk around the river if you want or you can sit down and have something to eat or have coffee.
They have a play ground and sand pit for the kids so they can play while you can enjoy your cuppa
T. S.
Great location overlooking the Canning River with helpful and friendly staff.
Our service was quick with large servings.
Enjoyable place to sit and enjoy a meal or coffee
H. (.
Made a reservation the previous evening for brekky. Staff were friendly on the phone and then greeting me and getting things sorted on the day (they spelt my name wrong on the reservation but that's fine- everything else was neatly presented on it.)
Ordered a caramel milkshake - the consistency was nice, and it tasted good but I probably should have gotten the kids size-
Then I got the tomato bruschetta thingy- I remember being presented with a pYRAMID of tomato slices on top of a buttered(?) bread slice, and a nicely cut avocado on the side.
Normally I'm slightly skeptical towards tomatoes, but this was really nicely done! It was a really great blend but the only issue I have with it is how hard it is to stuff your face with. (it's mASSIVE)
Definitely coming again! If you ate too much like I did, along the river is a great place to walk it off.
R. S.
While it was busy the food, coffee and service was really good. It was just nice to relax in the park setting around the cafe with facilities for the kids.
s. C.
Great environment to chill with family and friends. The only down side was we took more than 10mins queue to order.
S. O.
Great food and reasonable priced. However, seating was disappointing as all we felt was heat coming from what we believed to be a kitchen area, despite us sitting outside. More shadded areas would've been good. It was nice being around birds and seeing so many jellyfish in the water.
K.
Great spot on the river, quick service.
V. F.
Excellent service location and food. Very quick service even when every table was occupied. Well done!
L. K.
Very busy today, despite the mainly overcast weather. Along wait for the food and coffee, but both were very good once they were ready. Friendly staff.
Musicians playing live selection of both old and new songs were a treat. All too civilized picnicking on the river foreshore and listening to the violin and cello whilst catching up with friends I haven't seen since before lockdown.
B. S.
Amazing amazing coffee (had the soy latte). Foam was beautiful - not much aeration even after the coffee is left sitting for a bit. Smooth texture and no unpleasant after-taste. My friend had the iced chai latte and she said it was really good. Had the big brekkie today. The food was delicious - only thing I'd say is the bacon was a tad bit salty but still very well cooked. Polite and great customer service. Overall, a great experience. Will recommend to try ☆☆☆☆☆! Keep up the good work guys!! P.S: Keep the celloist busking - he plays beautifully
M. W.
Niiice food and beautiful view. Friendly staff, a bit pricey tho. Quiet atmosphere but was a bit busy. So many wild birds/ flying rats waiting there for leftover.
E.
Lovely little spot, and good portions for price! Family friendly with a playground and picnic grass surrounding. The staff were kind enough to make vegan adjustments to my salad. Delicious! My hubby enjoyed his burger and fries, too!
j. h.
The food is good and its always fairly busy, I like sitting indoors because the sea gulls and flies really spoil the experience as they are really aggressive and can be quite overbearing.
If they did something about the pest problem this would be a much nice lunch spot.
P. K.
Great food, nice staff, good location, good value for money.
R. S.
It is a lovely venue and so, so popular. But I didn't see one person clean a table. I was surprised! The table we sat at certainly needed a wipe as did some seats. We ordered coffee and scones. The scones came out almost immediately. The coffee didn't come for more than 15-20mins. Finally we went to look for it and saw the receipt with it sitting on counter. When it came the long black had absolutely no crema on it and was cold!
I know they were very busy, but there was no apology when the coffee came. I was disappointed indeed. I would go back and do hope it will be better next time.
I have been back a number of times since I wrote the above review. I am afraid the same problem applies. NO cleaning of table visible. We transferred dirty dishes to another table. Had to tell waitress about such. They cleared dishes but didn't clean table or seats. The gulls especially liked attacking the dirty dishes and table and chairs. Very, very unhealthy for those who don't see what has been at their table before arriving.
I LOVE this place as many, many others do but hygiene and cleanliness needs to be at the forefront! NOT if have time!! Many more people could be employed. This place is ALWAYS CROWDED. More and more birds seem to be gathering and it is obvious they find scans to feed on.
Please DO Something about it. Thanks in advance! 😊
S. A.
Beautiful location, 9 out of 10 experiences with the staff are lovely. Coffee is good, breakfast omelette fluffy, freshly made and delicious. we were recommended the chicken mushroom pie which was DIVINE, we are addicted to the lemon curd muffin which gets sold out quickly on weekdays. But I was mortified by the zucchini fritters - dry, flat, and tastes like bad pancakes with vegetables. Otherwise, love this place.
J. N.
Good food. Hot coffee not tepid. Good service. - why go elsewhere. Just be careful if you coose a table under a tree 😉
T. S.
Was a very busy Cafe and the staff where at out the 3 ladies that had lunch there thoroughly enjoyed it
F.
View was good - online and on the menu it says lunch from 12. Went at 2 and the kitchen was closed.
L. h.
Beautiful setting next to the river.
Was extremely busy when we went on a Sunday morning. We didn't end up eating here as the line to order was extremely long.
But the menu and food looked great
O. t.
Tasty food. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Free parking. Lovely location on the river bank.
J. W.
Nice food, great view if you sit outside and friendly staff. There is a nice shady play ground for kids also.
F.
Lovely spot for a coffee with a view and a walk. Pram friendly and has a nice atmosphere. Will be back.
M.
Wonderful location, lovely staff, great food. Well worth a visit. Limited parking, venue always busy so may pay to book ahead. KlFamily friendly, dog friendly (outside)
L. H.
Birthday lunch with my 2 boys.lovely food and always so clean and staff always friendly. Fab venue with home made food by the river.
T. S.
A great spot for kids, but it gets extremely busy. Food is good and so is the coffee and drinks.
A. K.
A really really nice place to visit. Great food and coffee in spite of being very busy!
N. a. G. (. a. G.
Lovely place. Good coffee and food. Food tasted to good so didn't get a before pic.
P. H.
Food was great, good portions, efficient service. Need to do something about the sea gulls, not very hygienic.
C. M.
Serene location overlooking Canning river. By a park so good for families with kids. Also near walking paths so great for cyclists and walkers and also kayakers. Usually busy but doesn't seem to phase the staff who are efficient and friendly. Tasty food. Homemade cakes and coffee. Always a good experience to eat here.
S. J.
The only reason this is getting 3 stars is due to the parking and also the long queue to order food. The food itself was really good.
J. B.
Great location, the food and drinks were great. Awesome play ground.
Definitely coming back
S. M.
Lovely place next to the river, usually always busy, but still good to visit
H. O.
Nice atmosphere for a Sunday brunch. Be aware of 15% holiday surcharge, though.
A. K.
Beautiful place, right on a very tranquil part of the river.
All seating has views.
Inside and outside seating
Bookings can be made or just drop in as the mood takes you.
Wonderful wide ranging menu to most tastes.
Great coffee!
Best place to spend a lazy lunch on a sunny day
C. B.
Fiendly staff well organised .Parking difficult on busy public holidays .
N. F.
When I got to the counter they said I needed a table number to order, so got that and back to the end of the que. Ordered something of the white board and was told that that wasn't served until after 12 and they handed me a written menu from behind the counter. So back to the end of the que. The staff weren't that helpful. I ended up not ordering.
n.
Can be very busy but always good food and coffee
R. S.
This place is super busy most days, but especially when the sun is out. It's located just near the old Riverton Bridge on an idyllic stretch of the Canning River. Coffee, cake and more filling fare is for sale. There are some inside seats but the majority are outside. There is a child's playground and plenty of river views. If you are going in peak times or weekends then it's best to book ahead.
G. N.
Nice restaurant next to a excellent playground, bring your books to swap on the blue box, but be really careful with little ones because is easy access to the river and to a main road! Plus lots of people passing by on bicycle and people walking dogs right next to the play area and tables, have good parking next to the games but on the main road full of traffic! No toilet inside the restaurant and that’s not nice!
R. M.
Lovely location. Good food selection. Friendly staff.
l. f.
Great food service also tops food is always fresh staff are lovely and helpful
S. W.
Nice place for walking dogs, food and coffee are good!
c. c.
Lovely place by the Canning River .
Why aren't there more riverside cafes like this in Perth?
Y. L.
Honestly, dine-in because of the river side views. Good spot for chilling and hanging around with my family. Foods are fair but the coffee can be improving in a better way coz I m quite high standard on coffee but everything is good. Will come back for better coffee tho.
A. T.
Pleasant location with outlook onto the river. Staff were helpful and friendly. Casual dining placing orders at the counter. Food was good and I thought for once fairly priced for a restaurant. Children friendly as there is a small park adjoining the restaurant so they can go outside to expend excess energy. I suggest though that they must be able to swim as the park runs to the water's edge.
I'll go there again.
M. T.
Very pleasant place to stop for a bite and chat with friends. Café or lunch all served there.
B. T.
This is our go to Cafe in sunny weather to soak up the scenery looking over the canning river and the atmosphere. They make the best coffee and turmeric latte with home made fresh cakes. Add the pleasant staff and delightful owner. What else do you want. Do your self a favour and visit Lo Quay.
M. V.
Great little spot, very kid friendly and good food, it can get busy
R. J.
Food was lovely. Great friendly service. Fast food. Was so yummy. Enjoyed every bite.
A. N.
the broccoli salad is out of this world 🤤 also, Sophie is the nicest waitress 🥰💛
M. M.
Great company, beautiful autumn day in Perth overlooking the Swan and a lovely brunch. It doesn't get better than that. Coffee was perfect strength for a double shot. Crossiant was fresh and warm. My companions were also happy with their food, drinks and friendly service. We didn't have to wait long and the meals were served together.
No stairs is great for anyone with mobility issues and there are three ACROD bays. There was enough space inside for a walker and to park it out of the way.
Prices are very reasonable for that view. We chose inside for warmth but there are out door tables for those needing a dose of vitamin D during the colder weather.
I'll certainly be back.
I. H.
The food is quite basic, but the view is awesome.
S. P.
Lovely Riverside cafe.. extensive menu, friendly staff and very reasonably priced. Recommend you book as very popular place
W. Y.
Lovely location and good breakfast with interesting choices . Long waits and we got free scones for being patient with two orders that came out wrongly. We did f complain. The staff just wanted to do the right thing by us and we appreciated that
W. C.
Beautiful weather for lunch there. Took my Client here. Had a yummy Chicken Cesar salad
T. C.
Great spot on the river near the old Shelly bridge. Large menu with a number of specials. Was very well patronised. Fresh juice was very good. Lunch meals of salt and pepper squid and corn fritters were average. Other meals and dessert looked great so will be back to give it another try.
D. B.
Had a lovely breakfast here, about 8.30am on a friday morning. Had experienced v slow service before but this time, despite being fairly busy, service was efficient and friendly. Must be raising their game after some poor reviews. Big breakfast shared between me and my furry companion got 2 thumbs and paws up.Lovely coffee too.
P. H.
This is a place Worth visiting food good service good 👍 going back there
L. T.
Very nice ambience but breakfast menu is disappointing.
C. J.
Lovely river view and good place with children or big group!
M. H.
Location, location, location. On the calm waters of the Canning River, next to a positions with plenty of outdoor seating. So much to love and very popular. Food is not the seeking point here, some good menu items bit mostly just ok. Prices are reflective more of the location than the quality. Coffees are pretty good. The staff had forgotten my order and received compliment coffee to make good. Nice gesture.
j. l.
Very good, great place for a family with children.Great food.
P. I.
Really lovely Cafe with a big playground area for older kids to enjoy. Food was good, and didn't take too long coming out even though they are busy. Great coffee! Lovely and friendly staff
J. L.
The food is greatand big portion
S. W.
Meals were amazing 😋 and quick recommend the seafood chowder ..service was great and excellent location
A. H.
Love this this Cafe and the setting ... Nestled in a beautiful location on the river, surrounded by the Riverton Park bushland ...
Heaps of seating in the cafe, undercover and also outdoors ...
Terrific menu, both food and beverage, for breakfast, morning tea and lunch ... you can takeaway too!
Typically busy, however service is normally speedy and the staff are super friendly and helpful ...
Oh, and if you have some Kids, there's a playground righ next to the Cafe.
You'll enjoy it all !
J. F.
Had the best food in ever had love the staff and love the coffee
D. B.
Lo Quay is in a lovely location beside the river. They have an excellent range of dishes and cakes. Service was very quick and the portions of apple pie were large.
A. H.
As usual, lo quay does not disappoint. The food is scrumptious, the location is great and the staff/management are efficient and very pleasant 😊
Hadn’t been for a few months. Something changed. Menu still the same on website but changed in house, food in display counter was not priced. Food was mediocre compared to previous times and also over priced for what it was. Maybe I’ll wait another year or two before i return. Shame, great area and used to be a really good cafe.
H. L.
Yummy cake, good coffee, beatiful river view but waited for some time at the unattended counter to order my food and drinks
P. T.
Nice, coffee take skin off the mouth it's so hot.
N. G.
Really nice environment and quick delivery of food. With a big group make a reservation!
K.
Good view, nice sitting outdoor near a playground
J. B.
This is just a nice peaceful time out with a playground for the kids. Food and drink from the Cafe is quite good and reasonably priced and you're right in the water with plenty of grassed area if you wanted more of a picnic style thing. Quite close to the road though, so always keep your eyes on your kids.
J. D.
Great setting for a breakfast and space for kids to run and play. Food itself left a bit to be desired. The menu does not extend itself and the food was a little bland.
D. C.
Busy Cafe, booking advised. Food great, service with a smile always nice. Enjoyed my first experience here
C.
Good food and great little Cafe not many options on the menu.
J. M.
Really nice location and great service. Got our food order very quickly considering how busy it was. Nice coffee and very friendly service. Good job team!
M. E.
Nice place, staff where friendly, they stuffed up our food orders but fixed them, then they stuffed up our coffee orders so we just left. Need to take care and listen to what customers want. We didn't ask for anything complicated or what wasn't on the menu. Just 4 meals, 2 coffee's and 2 shakes. Hopefully this cafe can improve on taking orders.
L. “. B.
Lovely spot. Great coffee and food. So busy though. We had to park on the other side of the river and walk over. Probably not much can be done about the parking situation though as there really isn't room to expand it.
G. K.
Food was great. Service was fast and there is a little playground for kids.
A. B.
Cake and coffee were great. Nice location. Good place for outdoor seating.
G. G.
Happy staff and good service, if you like your coffee strong, this is the place to go, I think the brand was Gesha on the aprons. A weak black we ordered wasn't weak but the waitperson did say "half shot" when serving it to us.
S. B.
Small venue for the amount of customers with very little signage of it being a 'pedestrian crossing' area with almost every car speeding dangerously through. More so functionality and industrial issues than anything else as well the problem of seagulls contaminating tables even after cleaning, perhaps invest in a netted area? As for the food the lunch menu did impress although the squid wasn't edible and much too alike rubber which is what you ideally pay for out of the salad and chips accompanying the dish. The little library however is a wonderful installment despite myself not having kids, the park is situated perfectly and the choice of musical entertainment was a welcome surprise with the wait staff well on the ball providing our meals.
L. B.
It was quite good! There was a funny smell that kept coming and going, but the view was nice and the staff were friendly, just not too professional. Then again, it was nice. Meals are big, filling and tasty which was great. Keep up the good work 👍
C. B.
Very busy. If you're making a booking, the best spot outside is on the terrace. Arrive early if possible as the line was out the door multiple times. Food was delicious and coffee was great.
I. T.
Family friendly cafe with adjacent playground located next to the river.
D. S.
Great meal
Serve size was large
T. G.
The cafe is not bad.. parking is always full. but if you don't mind the walk, try parking on the street further up the road (away from the bridge). Everyone tries to park within the carpark which has limited spots and often causes congestion. If you park a couple of minutes away, you will save yourself plenty of fuel from sitting idle AND you get to sit at the cafe enjoying instead. Park further away! Also it has a good playground for kids to run wild.
E. M.
Great service from friendly staff in a river location
Fur baby friendly too
H. H.
Great place, excellent food and staff, loved it...I took my 94 year old friend (who is confined to a wheelchair) there for brunch today..we had a lovely time, definitely going back!
m. m.
Great location. And with tables on the grass.
Nice coffee and good service.
D.
Nice to sit outside and watch over your kids playing on the nature playground.
Need to do something about the mooching seagulls.
C. M.
This cafe is absolutely beautiful! Really delicious food even though I found a bit expensive but I'm happy to pay. They have a big variety of healthy food and cakes. The coffe is absolutely tasty. The environment is really familiar with a very nice playground for the kids, with shade and water for them to play on the hottest days.
I love bring the kids here.
Definitely will indicate for everyone.

Such a great set up for kids and relies heavily on those aspects. Lovely spot by the Canning river with a well designed playground. Food is just ok. The cafe was extremely busy, with a very long que. Spent a long time waiting for service and then a long time waiting for lunch. Food is quite expensive for what you get. Definitely room for improvement.
김.
Good scenery for children, nice parking lots, playgrounds are fantastic, but...
The food and cake here are rather expensive compared to the taste.
They should try to make a special menu here.
Of course, regardless of my opinion, people will like to visit here.
And I think it's never going to change because the scenery is good here.
Because I'm a gourmet...
Wouldn't it be my fault I didn't like this place?
C. S.
Nice cakes many options for food. Amazing location next to the river. Could be very busy at times. Coffee was great also!
R. V.
Great place, I go often for breakfast or coffee. Service is quick.
J. G.
Very busy but a besutiful set up along the water
S. P.
Good food, great location. Nice spot for breakfast or lunch. Quite popular, so I recommend booking ahead. Best to dine outside rather than inside.
r. m.
Besutiful little neighborhood cafe, friendly staff, great view
B. P.
Great place to grab a bite or just relax by the river. Very shady outside and simple inside. Good food and coffee. Outside is very popular kids playground area. Dogs allowed on the outside area too which is an added bonus to this cafe.
A. A.
Really cool little spot with playground for kids, recommended reserving a table on weekends
A. C.
I rode to have breakfast here on sunday and due to the weather it was full which is a good sign!! The lady taking the orders was friendly despite the amount of people traffic😍 It started to rain and of course the tables outside needed to be accomodated. And there were people seating on tables of 4 and just 2 on the tables or 1 on a table for 4! I am aware that is not a habit to share tables but is something to be to think about. I was lucky I got to share a table with another patron which I was very grateful as my order had just arrived. Great food!! Great location to ride to!!
K. B.
Very busy on a sunny winter day but staff were really helpful and happy to accommodate us sitting on picnic tables next to the playground, bringing out takeaway to us and having kids meal of chicken nuggets earlier than 11am. Thanks for the great service!
R. C.
What a delightful cafe. Food and service were very good and the view of the river from within the cafe or outside on the lawn was beautiful...a return visit is a certainty!
N.
Nice cafe on the river. There is plenty of shaded outdoor seating and a big playground for children. You never feel rushed and it’s a great place to catch up with friends. The coffee is good and served pretty quickly, even during busy times. The staff can be a bit unfriendly but that would be the only negative I can think of.
L. T.
It's so good. That is why we keep coming back.
B. H.
Great location at theCanning river and breeky menu
L.
I have been visiting this place since my first daughter was 2 years old.It is a really good place to have a playdate. It offers a lot of things. Cafe, good playground, nice atmosphere and beautiful river in one package. I mostly order hot chocolate and chips from the cafe for my lil one
C. C.
Nice location on the river. ( Why aren't there more cafes riverside?)
Can be very busy, especially at weekend breakfast time
V. M.
Very nice staff great coffee ideal spot for children lovely views of the river. Also very busy but not a long wait.
E. R.
The meal was very tasty and enjoyable thank you
L. S.
My mum and I have had lunch there twice. Very nice food quiche salad and iced coffee. The place is very quaint and nicely situated on the Swan Rvr very scenic and shady. Service was great too. Thnx
M. N.
Great coffee, ambient location.
S. H.
Great spot for a coffee after a great ride.
C. W.
A lovely place with ample shaded parking (afternoon) and easy access. Near to major roads but tucked away, so not bothered by traffic. Good food and drinks, a nice Hummingbird cake, prompt and helpful service. Outdoor and indoor seating. There is a playground for children and some river water access. Views along the river. Grassed areas and climable trees for older children.
T. C.
A good place to take the kids on the Canning River by the old Shelley bridge. A nice nature playground, plenty of parking (though does get very busy on the weekends). The cafe has good coffee; limited indoor but plenty of outdoor shaded seating. Playground is covered by shade sails. Good place for Mums with young kids to catch up and have a enjoy a coffee at any time. Partially fenced in on the road side, on the other side the river provides a natural boundary. There is a bicycle and walkway leading to the other side of the bridge for a stroll along the western side of the river, where there is plenty of lawn for a picnic.
C. T.
Really upbeat happening place. Great for get togethers and children with lots of grassed area and playground. Always love the food. Sometimes parking is hard, but that's what you get for it being so popular. Real range of people. I catch up with my girlfriends and their little ones here. I will be joining the ones with kids crowd soon!
G. A.
Very popular place to grab a coffee or breakfast
A. B.
Come for the ambiance. Perfect place by the river. Food is OK. Staff are friendly and helpful.
A. B.
Coffee was nice but Lo Quay's strong point is the food. It's not gourmet by any means but it's got hearty breakfast and lunch options in very generous servings. The location is fantastic too, nestled in the trees and overlooking the Swan River - great spot for breaky.
A. T.
Beautifully located next to historic River Walk trails. Scenic view with very friendly djidjidi (wagtails) dropping by to keep those pesky bugs at bay. Food was much better than expected. Typical cafe fare, but large and well presented serves. Whoever is cooking there, cooks with some attention to their craft. I had probably one the better burgers in recent memory and the rest of my party also has no complaints. Busy, but not too busy, with quick turnover between serving time and ordering. A little gem.
Gentle breeze over the river views through the peppermint trees.
D. O.
Beautiful location and food, but often far too popular and under staffed (or slow). We visit every 6 months or so and it's typically too hard to find parking or a table. In my opinion it is nice but too hard when there are plenty of other options.
V. P.
The food is lovely and the coffees are perfect
V. S.
Location is great with the cafe overlooking the river. There is outdoor seating and plenty of parking closeby.
The food was quite average. Eggs benedict was okay however the eggs weren't well poached. It was plain and could do with a few extra ingredients or a better presentation.
B. H.
Very enjoyable outdoor cafe by a quiet nook in the Canning river. Kid friendly, with a back to nature playground in bushland/river setting. Good food and service, with the hushed bussle of Shelley bridge in the background, to remind you of time passing, while you relax under shaded trees on the river's bank.
B. D.
Great spot to go with family. You can enjoy good food with a riverview, and the children can play in the mostly shaded park. I also see a lot of cyclists taking a coffee break there, which is a great idea! Beware the nasty seagulls though :)
G.
Good river views, however it’s usually quite busy and the main customers are old people and parents with small children as there is a playground right next to the cafe. That being said it’s good for parents with smaller children. Food is good (would recommend the custard horns) and the coffee is also good.
J. W.
Lovely cafe on the river, great coffee and fresh foods and cakes!! Perfect spot for a catch up 💚
D. S.
Great food, great service.
S. P.
We've visited this cafe a few times before and generally been quite happy. Our most recent visit, however, was a bit of a dissapointment. Service was slow despite many tables being empty, my bacon was burnt to the point of charcoal on one edge and the coffee was not great.
I'm sure this was just an off day and we'll go back again, but can only give three stars for the experience we had.
As a side note, this is a dog friendly venue and it is right next to a playground, for any parents.
A. B.
Aptly named, and perfect for a casual afternoon. Great cafe and proximity to playground and river, you can whittle away the afternoon with a close friend or the kids. The little ones can make friends easily on the playground equipment activity areas, a great way for them to establish new friendships. Enjoy!
M. P.
Beautiful breakfast feeding four generations it was tasty well served and my great grandson was intrigued by a very close black Swan and of course his pancakes.
.
C. P.
Highly recommended indeed especially the big breakfast and scones. Excellent service and cozy ambience.
D. B.
The food is great, with lots of outdoor seating by the children's play area. Watch out for the seagulls though. Don't leave any food unattended or you will have them all over your food in a flash. Ample parking available.
B. L.
Nice place. Would recommend the veggie breakfast.
J. T.
Food was lovely. Very busy. Tables were not cleared before others sat down. Beautiful river and lawns.
A. K.
Best hamburger in town. Juicy, flavorful and most magical combination of delicious relish, mayo and mustard. Fresh buns and most importantly served with a wonderful smile.
S. I.
For WA standards; food is above average and service efficient. Coffee is acceptable but I guess good for Perth. The setting is why you come here, beautiful spot along the river...except for all the children and mums groups. Seriously, put them in school or stop breeding.
Z. G.
Coffee was great. Scenery is beautiful. Really accessible, just a little crowded in a Saturday afternoon (which is expected). I'm keen to return on a quieter day
C. K.
Met friends for a breakfast catch up. Had the Eggs Benedict (ham and spinach). It was ok, but nothing to rave about. My partner had the big breakfast and was happy with his scrambled eggs (that's the bit he's picky with) and it means that the rest was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely location near the river. Plenty of shady tables. Will definitely come again, just try a different meal 😊
S. R.
Immaculate food, fantastic atmosphere and lovely patronage. Came here with my family and we all loved how fresh and beautiful it all was! Wagyu beef burger was delicious, could’ve done with the patty being a bit thinner but otherwise still wonderful.
A. R.
Always busy but always excellent! The staff and management cope very well with the sheer number of people that sit and eat here. Great food, fantastic food and a good overall price for all meals. Keep it up team.
H. C.
Good food and great location. Staff are always friendly
P. W.
Superb location right by the Canning river and next to an elegant playground for toddlers and young children. Enjoy a good selection of tasty and well presented meals outdoors under the shade of of the lovely trees (or indoors if you prefer) gazing at the dreamy river views. Opening hours are unfortunately limited and prices are a little on the high side. Nevertheless, it's worth the visit and you'll be glad you came.
V. P.
Delightful riverfront setting; shaded seating. Fabulous Kisch. Great coffee. Ideal lunchtime venue and menu.
O. B.
Nestled in next to the river, you'll find a surprisingly large collection of tables and chairs scattered across the lawn surrounding the cafe.
Catering to the locals on a walk, or visitors on a jaunt, your selection of food leans toward the healthy with a selection of vegetation items.
Coffee, jam and scones on offer as well as a selection of milkshakes.
Bit pricey for the quality, but pleasant enough.
A. P.
Nice location and great for the kids. But $12.50 for a bacon and egg sandwich that has nothing on one from a lunch bar for $6.50. Bit of a joke
N. B.
Nice place to take kids as there is a good public playground right outside. On the river so nice view. Service was very slow, takeaway coffee took 20 mins to come out. Food was ok. Some of it was quite nice however couple of members of our party were not happy with the chicken burger as it was expensive and very bland. Coffee was average, chai latte was good.
H. T.
Located at a nice location with river view. A popular place for breakfast in the weekends. My son had a vegetarian version of the omelate with toast which he enjoyed a lot. A nice little sandy playground for young kids.
B. M.
This place has a gorgeous view of the river through huge panel windows. Very well set out with lots of room and tables spilling out either side onto shady grass. The food was excellent, there was plenty of choices for those eating healthily. Staff were quick and friendly, happy to help out with making a bigger table, refilling water etc. #highlyrecommend #goodviews #healthyfood
S. T.
I was very impressed with the value and food portions here. It was packed on a week day. Great setting, playground for the kids and the river view is well worth a visit.
C. J.
Friendly staff and service. Food is quite nice too. Play area is pretty sparse (not sure if it's their fault of whether its a council thing.
Only downside is the amount of seagulls. Probably out of Lo Quay's control, but makes eating outside not that enjoyable.
I.
Had breakfast there. Bacon egg sandwich, coffee delicious. Others had pancakes and big breakfast. Lovely location, outdoor breakfast
F. A.
The shade and playground make this a wonderful venue for children/mother's or father's groups. The River is provides a wonderful Vista. The coffee is good but the food is slightly overpriced for what it is, but that almost seems standard for cafes these days. After all, I guess you can't buy x2 cobbers for 1c any more either!
N. H.
Usually very crowded so typically takes a long time to queue and order, and then for your drink or food to arrive. Also pretty expensive. But you can see why: the location on the water is peaceful and relaxing, and the playground (well fenced off from the nearby road) absorbs the kids so you can chill out with your companions. They could do more to encourage people to bring their own mugs in order to reduce plastic waste. Perhaps a 5% discount?
v. l.
Good food, good location, fantastic for mummies catch-ups on sunny days, with the children's playground and walk path around the river's edge. There just aren't that many cafes nearby that has such a great outdoor space.
R.
I didn't realise the little gem was there! Fantastic food and friendly staff in a perfect location. Well worth a visit!
C. N.
A little expensive for a river cafe, and they have put too many tables close to each other so hard to get in out , and eat well. But it is a nice place to visit, and water watch... Just remembered to get a table BEFORE you order..
T. S. C.
Clean, friendly and BUZZING with life. Great location and GREAT ice chocolate ❤️ yum
G. S.
It's ok food and coffee/beverages - scenery is its best feature by a long way.
C. M.
Great location on the river and plenty of play area for the kids. Food was great but couple of little mistakes that were forgivable considering how busy is was. Again considering how busy it was the food and drinks came out quite quickly. Would recommend lo Quay river cafe.
R. s.
Recommend homemade pie and sausage.
M. K.
View was great. Iced latte was ok.
m. w.
This is a great place to eat. Very relaxing and great menu. Full plates for reasonable prices. Great staff and very helpful.
E. P.
Very peaceful place to have some fun with kids. Not huge but decent playground. However, food there is quite expensive. I ordered 2 fruit juice and a bottle of water. They charged me 19 something bucks.... my point of view, overpriced.
S. G.
Excellent location plenty of tables to sit in and outside... Friendly helpful staff... And they have a good almond milk brand which is fantastic..
S. K.
Great spot and excellent food. Recommend to anyone passing to stop for a coffee and try the food. You won't regret it.
S. R.
Nice staff star 5
Food star 3
Play ground star 4
Coffee star 3.5
R. W.
Great cafe because of the playground next to it. Food is delicious, a tad on the pricier side, tho normal for Perth I guess. Big breakfast $23, eggs benedict $20, etc.
K. M.
Lovely to have this beautifully refurbished dog-friendly riverside spot so close to home. Take a 90-yr-old friend there, always treated well. CofC hasn't improved access to it, though, with the latest upgrades to Fern Rd, but it's well worth the visit.
C. G.
Lovely Cafe situated on the river
J. H.
Fabulous location, quick service, good menu selection, tasty breakfast.
L. D.
Great on a hot day Sat under trees great and quick service
s. d.
Great food, service, scenery
M.
Was very busy. Had a mocha. It was decent, not the best coffee I've had. The view of the water was great though.
D. G.
The cafe is located in a very nice spot where you can sit outside to enjoy your coffee & cake or a meal next to the Canning river by the Riverton bridge.
M. W.
Lovely spot on the river, and kid & dog-friendly so I can see why it is popular. Food is fine but a little on the pricey side.
E. H.
Fantastic little playground with a nice little water play area. Cafe does the best freshly squeezed orange juices!
A. U.
Great little spot for dog friendly Sundays. Only thing I would suggest is to change the set up for lining up as we were constantly in the way of the staff :)
L. P.
A great place for a coffee catch up if you have kids in tow - plenty of playground to keep them amused. Lovely cakes on display - great coffee.
G. J. H.
Great place. Ideal location anytime of day. Good food and coffee. Parking is sometimes a problem as it is a very popular place. Will go there again and again.
A. A.
Alway good. We book a table for 10 + each month and are always happy with the service, the prices and the food.
M. B.
This place can be hit and miss. Very popular so if they get the timing all wrong you're waiting forever. That said, this morning's Bevin and egg toastie arrived hot and quick, we'll before my coffee. Quick service.
But what to do with all the scavenging seagulls!
G. G.
Good for a sunny afternoon lunch. Very busy during weekends to get seats. Good view of river. Nice food. Sometimes due to rush waiting is long for orders but is worth it.
J. A.
A few vegan choices or tweek what's on the menu. Very pleasant outlook to river, with lots of play equipment on the nearby grounds. Can be a touch noisy inside. Willy Wagtails fly through ... sweet.
M. O.
Just enjoyed a fabulous day celebrating my dads 90th birthday.. the venue is beautiful.. the food was delicious and the staff were excellent.. so friendly and couldnt do enough for us.. i would highly recommend the lo quay cafe for anything from a quiet coffee to any special occasion ... a definite 5 star rating from me.. Maureen
E. H.
Great location, space is appropriate for all ages and coffee & food is awesome. Thank you for a wonderful experience
t.
Had the reuben sandwich, was fantastic well worth trying
S. B.
Good selection, good service and a great location by the water. Reasonably priced dishes. Just wish I could have bought a beer.
L. S.
Service is surprisingly fast given how large and busy the place is. Location is beautiful too. Prices are quite high and food is good, but not amazing.
J. R.
I go to this cafe with a group of friends each month and we are always welcomed as friends and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They are all stars!
J. W.
Always a enjoyable breakfast morning. The food is delicious, plenty of shady areas and the grand children play for hours in the playground as we watch on, sipping a second coffee.
N. A.
Nice place with a nice view and nice coffee. Perfect place to enjoy your breakfast.
G. B.
Very busy but food and coffee prepared and delivered quickly. Lovely location.
F. B.
Beautiful location, great service, fantastic menu and at reasonable prices. What a gem.
L. Y.
Nice place, plenty to keep children occupied and food well cooked and nicely presented. A little expensive but nowhere is cheap these days. Been a few times and would go again.
F. R.
Beautiful views and a relaxing environment for a warm Friday afternoon coffee 😊

A. H.
What a wonderful place for mom and kids. Coffee tastes excellent and the river view is just so nice. Come here every weekend with a baby. Amazing
G. O.
Great for a breakfast or lunch meal. Or maybe just a coffee and cake is your thing. Either way this great little cafe has a great location next to the canning river and superb food to match. Add to your 'to do' list
Z. C.
Good coffee and breakfast. Be sure to get there early as tables fill up very quickly!
H. S.
I visited yesterday and it was so busy. I waited my coffee for 15 minutes. However, coffee was great and staff were friendly. :)
M. K.
Eggs Benedict was over “spinached” and so the bread was super soggy and just not that great. Only giving 4 stars because other visits have been better.
K. T.
Have had a couple of great breakfasts at this cafe. It's casual in a peaceful, attractive location, the meals are tasty, modern and well-priced and the staff very pleasant.
J. J.
Beautiful setting by the river, playground is good for kids....Always busy.
T. J.
Nice place, great location, good variety on menu & service prompt. Always a little niggling issue here & there but overall very pleasant
K. B.
The food is nice and it's on the river so you can just watch the water. Also its dog friendly so I get to cuddle puppies
C. M.
Great location by the river, very beautiful. My coffee was served cold though, and apple tart was quite dry, but to be fair it was later on Sunday arvo.
T. L.
Great location, lots of space and playtime fun for kids. The coffee has always been nice.
M. N.
Very popular on a Sunday morning. Perfect location right next to the river and a playground if you have little ones. Coffee was good, wait to order was quite long though
M. T.
I always love the food here. It's great to go for a walk nearby and end it with a delicious brunch.
O. P.
We enjoyed our arvo tea. Glasses were a lil unclean but otherwise great lil spot.
D. M.
Hard to find cafés which satisfy both kids and adults. This is one of the few places around Perth which will do just that 👍 Only negative is that because of the overwhelming positive first mentioned there maybe an extra wait at peak times. Grab a coffee and relax ☕
K. C.
Great food ..a long queue which moved quickly, then our meal was delivered surprisingly quickly. The only complaint was that I had no room for the amazing lemon curd muffin.
A. T.
I love this park, love the views. Honestly the coffee was undrinkable 😭 I never complain or take things back but I really considered it, please work on this it's such a beautiful cafe and surroundings!
N. Z.
Beautiful location, nice cakes but coffee not the best.
S. F.

I. a. R. D.
It is a lovely place. The food was good. It is also great for children.
P. E.
I had the smoked salmon bruschetta and my wife had plain tomato bruschetta. The plain one had avocado and Parmesan cheese but the smoked salmon one didn’t have this, makings this very tasteless. I wouldn’t have it again.
A. L.

Great coffee shop near our beautiful river, Awesome playground for small kids with plenty of water play and slides. Gets quite busy.
A. B.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great coffee and good reasonably priced food. Pleasant location.
W. M.
Perth's is a culture that values the outdoors and good coffee. Funny then that there aren't more cafes like Lo Quay that do excellent coffee, right on a playground and next to the river.
It's ace.
K. B.
Delicious Bircher muesli and superb coffee
Very busy
Absolutely worth a visit
Must book
T. W.

Love this place. It is a semi regular for us, the food and service is outstanding, with a view over the river.
K. J. B.
Good food and drinks, a little quick to want to clear the table as we had to keep stopping them taking unfinished drinks and plates, but overall would recommend.
E. B.
Very average Vietnamese Chicken Salad for $24. Beautiful riverside location. Pleasant atmosphere.

Nice ambience but female staff ignored me & let me stand in front of her for almost 10 mins before a male staff seated at a table in corner came to take my order.

Food and drink was average, but great little spot to sit outside while the kids play on a nice day.
D. C.
