Lovely venue. Great to see a place that caters well for children and pets. Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. It took longer to stand in line to order, than it did for the food to be served. The food was a bit bland and over priced in comparison to other cafes in the area. There didn't appear to be any table water available, which on a hot day was disappointing. The staff were very friendly.

Never been disappointed! Thus visit was iced coffee for me, choc milkshake with eggs n bacon for the 10yo, he loved the poached eggs on toast but couldn't finish all the bacon, there was so much of it!! Friend had one of the favs from Mrs Le's menu, he loved it! Great service (very quick), good prices fab food! Plenty of room for dogs n kids to run and play, and lots of parking. We came for the dog we stay for the dogs and everyone leaves hot tired and happy (note inside shaded)...I don't eat meat so menu limited for me, from memory coffee is ok. More shade in dog park for humans might be an idea..

From the picturesque atmosphere to the laidback yet professional service, this place was a pure pleasure on the eyes and taste buds. As the food arrived on my table my eyes had already been satisfied before plunging a piece of perfect cooked bacon coated by hollandaise sauce into my mouth and the taste danced about my flavour senses :) Washed down by an iced coffee and good company and my day was complete. Been here a few times, once for a venue organised play date and other times just for a day out with the pup. Lovely vibe very pet friendly with one side for the cafe and dogs and the other side all for the kids. Staff are very friendly and inviting. Most visitors are like minded and friendly also. Food comes out in good time, menu is pretty good and has some ‘different’ options like the red velvet latte. Good portions. Only thing I could suggest is more access to taps/bowls of water for the dogs. Other than that it’s a great place to spend the afternoon with friends, kids and pups.

We’ve come here over the past 3 years whenever visiting Perth. The food is great, always has been! Problem with our visit today, too many people and staff clearly flustered and overwhelmed. Best to consider when visiting. Weekends, especially Sunday brunch are crazy. But like I said, the food is awesome!

Came here for Father’s Day breakfast , My coffee came out before my brothers and it was the most full flavoured, smooth & piping hot coffee I have ever had the pleasure of drinking . Great place for a cafe style meal. The outdoor area isn't fully waterproof as the "canopy" has some gaps between sheets and holes scattered throughout. Can't think of a reason not to give this place five stars. The space is beautiful, open and sprawling with lots of wood which evokes a cosy, homey, inviting feel. The menu is really interesting: some Vietnamese dishes and brunch classics (and then some with a twist). Had the chicken burger which came with a beautifully seared chicken thigh, avo and a chilli reduction (sriracha perhaps?) with a brioche bun - the best kind of bun there is. Would return if I were in Swan Valley again, what a great place to lounge and let the kids loose.

Come here regularly with my dog, the dog area is amazing, coffee always decent and customer service is good- whenever there is an issue always fixed quickly without issue. For this I give slate 5/5. First time ordering food for takeaway for the dog area unfortunately food wasn't nice, partner ordered smashed avo and the egg and toast were both cold. I ordered egg Benedict and like the amount of hollandaise sauce however was at room temperature and the eggs and toast were cold. Tried food again and this time dine in and unfortunately food wasn't any better than last time with similar issue. We will definitely return with our dog for coffee most weekends, but unfortunately will probably not order food again which is the sole reason for an average review.

we come here so we can bring our dog and we love their dog play dates, but the food hasn't been great lately. overpriced, especially the Vietnamese selection in comparison to other places ($19 pho? $16 spring rolls?) recently had the nacho chicken burger which fell apart (wrong bread choice) and an underwhelming $20 bruschetta. I think we'll just order chips when we come here and continue enjoying the dog meet ups - cos they are great!

We had our daughter’s 5th birthday party here. So easy to organise and turned out to be a lovely day. Family run business who take great care in providing a wonderful experience for all. Our daughter’s party package included a face painter and balloon twister, who was incredible with the kids. We also ordered food platters for the adults which were very well priced for the size; the quality and taste was perfect. All in all perfect location for a kids party!

Amazing dog friendly cafe, wide range of western and Asian style breakfast menu items. Have regular play dates for different breeds of dogs, but all dogs are welcome. Nice play area for kids and regularly extra activities catered as well. They have a big fenced in area for dogs as well as an agility course for the working pup. On the weekends The Treat Truck comes which sells homemade dog treats for a reasonable cost. Would definitely recommend the spring rolls, long time fsvourite

Happy with service here. We asked for extra couple slices of bacon for the kids. They ended up bringing out a whole plate of bacon which was way too much for our kids. When we said that it was too much the young guy politely took the bacon back and gave us a full refund even though we had eaten 2 slices already. No fuss from them and no dirty looks which we appreciated. That's just good customer service. This is a nice place, the food is tasty and I give it an 8 out of 10.

Just another cafe with a twist. What makes this cafe stand out is that you can bring your furry friend, dog, to play in a fenced off area with other dogs and you can sit on one of the available tables and watch when while you eat or drink coffee. Make sure that if you intend to bring your pet on the weekends that you check the cafe's Facebook website or home page to see what breeds are going to be present on the day. I learnt the the hard way when I brought my little Cavoodle there and there were nothing but Malamutes, Huskies and Border Collies. There was also a little black chihuahua that didn't seem to care that there were 20+ other large dogs, and living 45 minutes away, it was pretty much a wasted drive. Just a lesson for those plan on going next time. Also, if your dog likes to eat duck heads, they sell them there too...

When my friends visited Ellenbrook from Karratha they wanted to eat out with their dog during the school holidays. I racked my brain where we could go not being dog owner savvy & remembered Slate Cafe! I was overjoyed when their dog was able to run freely in the dog section. Slate also have a fabulous kids area which appeared seperate to the dogs area & upgraded since my last visit before the roadworks on Marshall Rd. My chai latte was moreish & the bruschetta vegetarian breakfast was huge delicious & satisfying. Car parking available but limited if peak times. Bathroom facilities are accessible and usually clean. Highpoint: My friends loved the experience! Tip: Signage for dogs could be more visible to patrons. In short: It's the place to go semi close to Ellenbrook if you need to cater for families! Gracias.

Only 2 things I found can be improved, which are 1) some protective padding around the Star Pickets holding the shade pavillon, as I am worried they could possibly cause some damage if playing dogs collide with one. 2) it is great with plenty of poo bags but a bin inside the play area would be nice.

This is a lovely little cafe perfect for people with kids and dogs. There’s a nice atmosphere and plenty of space. We’ve always had good friendly service even when it’s busy. Maple toast was great however the pink pancakes were dense and stodgy... even on the second attempt. The accompaniments were tasty, so it's a shame that the pancakes themselves were so unpalatable. The latte was IMO a bit weak, but it did have a nice milk consistency. The promoted doggo play area requires a bit more amenity, though it's possible to sit inside with your dog on leash. It'd be nice if some plantings were put in along the fence line to block out the main road and provided a degree of windbreak.

The agility space for dogs was great. I look forward to going back soon when it is busier and more pups for Pippin to meet are there.

What a great Cafe! Went there this morning for brunch and it was delish. I had the avocado smash which was yummo. The staff were friendly and attentive and one of the owners introduced himself, he was also lovely. This is a great place for kids, with an indoor play area including cars, chalkboard, little kitchen, drawing and various toys. There's a slide down to the grass which my son loved. There's also a huge grassed area to kick a ball and a nature obstacle course. On a sunny day this is the perfect venue for families. With good food and drinks, lots for our son to do and live music, we spent two and a half hours there this morning! Thanks Slate, we will be back very soon!

We held my daughters wedding at Slate on 4th May. It was perfect for a small to medium event. The staff were well organised and very helpful. The venue is lovely for the low key different feeling. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend it.

My daughter is scared of dogs, but we take her there as it's a great place to expose her as there is a separate dog area. So she feels safe. Unfortunately on the way out a man walked pass us with two dogs on a lead, my daughter hid be hid me, he then tells me it's not a great place to bring your child to a dog cafe!! Well mate, last time I checked it was for everbody, including kids and that's why there is a play room and bouncy castle. 😠😠😠

Slate Street Cafe was a really enjoyable place to eat with my family. The coffee was ok and the French toast was good. What you really pay for is the atmosphere and the service, can't say this enough, top quality service. We had a waitress who I think was called Danny or Dani, anyway she was a really kind and helpful. Especially around the kids.

Tasty but quite overpriced food, unless you're coming to make use of the large children's playground - in which case it's a really good deal! The bo kho beef stew was very good, would recommend. Pulled pork burger was also quite tasty. Cute doggo agility course on site, and of course very dog friendly. No air conditioning. Unfortunately when we visited (Dec) our pupper's paws were covered in spiky burrs from the grass within seconds, so beware.

Food portions are massive could not finish it. The food is yummy though, inventive menu, had the red velvet latte never heard of that before it was good although I would have preferred a larger cup to go with my massive breakfast. Which was the maple bacon french toast. It was huge, dawned with plenty of toppings kiwi fruit, banana, strawberries, shimmer of icing sugar with at least four pieces of bacon covered in maple syrup. I wanted something different and I got a French Canadian colossus. Would recommend. They also have vegan, vego, and carnivorous options that cater to most and many. Plus your surrounded by doggos playing, the atmosphere is family, singles, friends and couple friendly. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Good luck...invest in your environment and perhaps then the $22 pancakes will be worth it...perhaps...nah...that's too much for pancakes.

Ordered the Espresso Mushrooms and was quite underwhelmed - 2 small, thin pieces of sourdough bread, with a scant handful of mushrooms, a teaspoon of noodles for decoration and a very fine sprinkle of feta. It was quite dry and would have been much nicer with a sauce, or even a dollop of yoghurt or sour cream on top 😃 Lovely enclosed dog area with lots of well-behaved pooches running around having a lovely time! The dog area does need double gating imo though - very difficult for staff to deliver orders & patrons to get in/out to order food etc Maybe a 'drive-through' style window to place orders from, inside the dog area, is an idea? All-in-all my pooches and I had a nice afternoon - maybe next time I'll just order a yummy looking cake and a cuppa! 🙂

Went here for Sunday breakfast and I had the double shot espresso mushrooms on sourdough. It was a strange combination and you could really taste the double shot of coffee. Wasn't a fan, too bitter for a sunday morning breakfast, appreciated the experimental combination though! Also had the red velvet latte. We heard of this place for doggy dates....look in the event section of the website coz its worth it! We had maybe 15 to 20 maltese fluffballs cruising around a fenced off area (separate from other diners) in a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. We had breakkie first and enjoyed what we ordered.
