Comments of Berrima General Store & Café
N. V.
Adorable general store and cafe in Berrima. The usual pies and baked goods on the menu as well as more cafe style food. Outside tables available and there is also a park across the street for a picnic for take-out option.

Breakfast - Brilliant and friendly service with awesome food ! I had a bacon and egg roll (BBQ sauce with gloriously runny egg yolk) and husband had cake. It was all stunning. Lemon meringue pie was divine. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. Honestly can't wait to go back.
S. D.
This place has some amazing pies. We had the meat pie and the mushroom pie. The mushroom pie was out of the world. The pork sausage role was delicious too, a bit salty for my tasting.
Besides the pies the lemon tart is to die for.

Berrima rates 5 stars. Let's hope the sale of the jail doesn't ruin it.
This cafe has good size teapots. Essential for a cafe. Big tick, but probably the only one. The tea was weakish. The service said they despise people from Sydney, but love their money. The standout was how blunt the knives (cutlery) are. The decor is uninviting. All that said, it's a Berrima experience - 5 stars. 😐

I liked the rustic look of the restaurant. It was also clean and organised.
The food appeared slightly pricy but was well made.
I had the eggs Benedict, I liked how they used crunchy bread.

The cafe has some lovely food that is presented nicely. We had the potato pancakes with salmon and a breakfast plate. We also had a coffee; latte and cappuccino. It’s quite expensive for the size, but the food was good.

Good little place to stop and have a meal! Food was delicious, (we had the eggplant & corn fritters and big breaky) very yummy but the portion was quite small so we left a little hungry and got some snacks at another cafe afterwards. Friendly enough service but the staff were just constantly yelling out to each other, a little off putting but I think that’s just their style maybe. Food took a while to come out (around 30 mins or more), was about 1:30 so the cafe wasn’t very busy.

Creative and cosy cafe on this stormy day. Fast service, good coffee. On menu today was Lamb Ragu. Very good! Not too crowded today, had papers to read.
G. F.
Incredible coffee and very friendly service. Excellent menu option that caters for all people with different tastes. The service is fast an efficient and the ambiance is very homely and country style. Plenty of seating inside and loads of parking located just right outside. The owner takes a lot of pride in his cafe and this shows through the great friendly service and attention to detail. Pricing is also presents great value for money.
I highly recommend this cafe.

A cute little cafe in the a nice town. Food was reasonable. Good coffee. Friendly service.

Brilliant alternative to the standard fast food highway slop and a great location to break up the drive to/from Sydney. Appealing menu of tried and tested breakfast and lunch staples, but executed with flair and efficiency. Excellent coffee, cheerful staff. Highly recommended!
L. D.
Cured salmon with potato pancakes was sublime. Very reasonably priced. Love this gem

Visited here Boxing day with family; busy vibrant cafe with great coffee & snacks - certainly doing the beautiful town of Berrima proud!

Great stop over for breakfast between Sydney & Canberra/ Mt Kosciuszko. We all had avocado stacks served with poached eggs and lovely soy flat white & hot chocolate. Didn’t get to take a picture because we were all famished. On the way back we a few days later we stayed overnight hence taken the time with breakfast. I had the omelette zucchini was just as yummy. We bought a couple of loaf of Italian sourdoughs for home. They are great panna de casa! Good to hear they are opening a bakery in the complex. One of the owner is also an experienced baker . Glad to hear there will be proper bakery. Looking forward to see what else they have!

Great food! My Quinoa and Brussel sprouts Salad was fantastic. Pulled pork burger was average. My four year old loved the chicken pie. Nice atmosphere though I had to ask them to turn the music down.
Y.
Amazing food and nice environment. Good coffee and the european lady is lovely.
M. T.
Amazing cute place. Authentic quality food, cakes and coffee. Our favorite in the southern highlands.
J. L.
Had the green eggs. Vey dilishes. Good coffee and friendly service.

First time visit, wanted a quick lunch and honestly wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Rosti with bacon which was tasty and delicious, eggs perfectly runny, spinach just wilted and potato nicely seasoned. The French fries orderd as a side pleased the kids and were crunchy and fluffy inside and clearly cooked in fresh oil. It just seemed that the kitchen paid due care and attention to the meals and took pride in what they plated up. Excellent.

We stopped in her for an early lunch on our way to Canberra today and it was amazing. I rarely review cafes on here, actually never, but couldn’t leave this place without giving a huge shout out to the food… wow, I had the corn and zucchini fritters with goats cheese, poached egg and avocado and my husband had the special ‘avocado stack’…. Both were outstanding meals, they’ve got it soooo right, some of the trendy cafes in sydney should come and learn from these guys … thank you … soooooo good
R. S.
Excellent Rush coffee, great friendly service and awesome pies and cakes!!
J. M.
Great food, lovely spot, just right portion sizes with nice salad accompaniments providing balance.Would rate perfectly if coffees were in real china cups.
K. I.
Superb avo on toast. Best so far.
The fritters are a good portion and tasty although a bit too fried.
The eggs Benedict were very well made.
Portions are generous and their coffee is great but the Chai latte is outstanding.
S. B.
This place is an absolute gem - fantastic menu which is constantly changing and offering beautiful assortment of food. Deserves huge credit ( and lots of customers ) for the way they looked after the community during covid this year. And Diego and Yuli are great hosts.
B. B.
Delicious cafe meals & good coffee. French omelette & shakshuka were amazing. Side greens so good.
C.
Offers an all day breakfast and lunch menu. Nice sitting outside on Boxing Day listening to Bob Dylan, eating brunch with a good (if a trifle cool) coffee.

An awesome find on our most recent trip! Great coffee and treats, really lovely service! Yuli even helped us out by cooking up an Indonesian feast one night to mark what was meant to be our family trip to Bali. Really yummy food, amazing chef! Thanks Yuli!
C. C.
Best bacon and egg roll I have ever tasted! Mountain of eggs and crispy bacon on a golden brioche bun. Also polished off the chicken schwarma, very fresh and good flavours.
I. L.
Excellent coffee and food . Great to be a local .
A. A.
Tasty food served with a smile. Sometimes being COVID Safe can be a little unfriendly but this cosy cafe is welcoming. The baked treats looked amazing. I recommend the Ricotta and Spinach Rolls. Light pastry with yummy filling. 10/10.
L. S.
Pros: lunch food portions were large and tasted fantastic
Cons: cake display was really confusing and incorrectly labelled. Service was really poor and rushed. My order seemed to have been forgotten about before reminding staff and finally arriving to our family table long after all the other dishes.

My cousin recommended I take my Italian dad here for the once a month Italian set menu dinner (bookings required). Dad is 90 and still makes his own pasta so is very picky with Italian dining. Usually he will embarrass us with wanting to talk to chef and tell them how to make pasta. Not this time though. Antipasto, pasta, goat, desert. ..every mouthful of every course was delicious and the perfect serving size. Forgot to take photos as I was too busy enjoying my dinner!

Gorgeous little Cafe serving up delicious delights!
S. M.
They serve all day breakfast here, starting quite early around 8am. Lovely food with an exotic touch. Quite a diverse menu as well. Great place to stop in this pretty historic town off the Hume Highway for breakfast or lunch. Very friendly service. You can also shop for cheese, pastries and sausages from thier tiny in-restaurant store. Located next to Mrs. Oldbucks Pantry.
N.
Fast and friendly service.
Greatest spinach and ricotta rolls EVERRRRR! Served nice and warm on a cold rainy day. Perfection! Will definitely return when I’m back in town.
P. D.
Friendly staff. Delicious seasonal menu. Quick service. Fantastic array of fresh sandwiches, cakes and treats. Average coffee. Premium prices. Worth a stop for the cake and sandwich display.
S. M.
Coffee is excellent. Nice friendly atmosphere. I didn't have any, but the food looked good.
D. S.
They messed up our food order (no tomato in the ham and tomato sandwich) and our coffee order (no milk in our long black with milk). When the food came correctly it was ok, but they didn’t give us plates, and the coffee was a bit tasteless.
V.
We parked out the front and almost bypassed this innocuous looking cafe. Ignore the decor and enjoy the busy vibe and delicious food coming out of the kitchen.
Rich, robust coffees and a small but well chosen list of dishes on the menu. Don't forget to check out the specials board - our sausage orecchiette and porchetta focaccia spoke of their fresh ingredients and careful handling in the kitchen.
The Italian owners obviously love what they have. A simple format done nicely.
E. F.
Fantastic place, Diego & his staff are just great. The best coffee & food, allways welcoming. There is nearly all ways laughter & music, and the right sort. I can just see in my minds eye, Fred Astaire cruising around on the floor. You can also hold a conversation, the music is just right. Diego is the best 'thing' that happened to the General Store in Berrima..😊🐕...and you can bring your doggy as well.
K. G.
Food was the best ive ever had at a cafe in the country! Just brilliant
K. K.
A nice place with great food and quality coffee. Service is friendly and fast. I recommend the shakshuka with chorizo.
C. M.
Lovely little cafe for brunch. Coffee was ok, nothing to rave about, food was nice, it's in a lovely little town, great as a drive through on the way to Canberra or Souther Highlands. Service was good, people friendly, crowd is mainly older tourists on weekends away.
A.
Absolutely great coffee. Strong, aromatic with just the right touch of bitterness.
Definitely recommend stopping here if your on your way down to Canberra. Grab a coffee and have a rest on the banks of the river five minutes walk away.
You can pay with card which was a nice surprise.

M. A.
Exceptionally friendly staff and service. The cost is also reasonable. The quality and quantity of the food both are excellent. Surely will visit the place and highly recommend.
T. V. (.
Delicious brunch style food being served here. Would definitely recommend it to people visiting the area or passing by from Sydney to Canberra.
B.
Do not go inside if in a wheelchair! Stay outside. Access is too tight.
Passionfruit ice cream is HEAVENLY! Even in winter, I could not resist stopping in for an ice cream in a waffle cone.
I probably should have waited for my companions outside, but stubbornly went in while having a wheelchair day. The step is juuusst a bit too high to do that - even with expert help. And the doorway was juuusst a little too narrow that I grazed some nuckles.
This is my fault - not the store's and is written here only to serve as warning to other wheelchair users and their carers not to be ambitious like me...
P. B.
Excellent quality food and coffee. Perfect for reheating later at our airbnb
P.
Enjoyed a couple of tasty sandwich options for a quick lunch on the road. So much nicer to take the detour of the freeway.
