Great cafe in Newtown. Love the vibe and atmosphere. Food is very delicious and nicely presented. French toast is a must-try. There’re varieties of pastries to choose from, and all of them are very nice. Service is quick and staffs are super friendly. It’s a busy cafe especially at weekends. Will definitely come back to try more dishes. Highly recommended.

A beautiful place to come for brunch or catch up for coffee. The pastry cabinet boasts all your sugary desires and the interior is spacious and full of inner West vibes. The first time I came here was for my first ever cronut experience, and it was worth the hype!
H. W.
It's a nice place located on a side road. No reservations needed. The staff were friendly.
Tried the French toast and Philli Cheese Steak which were quite good. The hot chocolate was average, but the iced latte was nice. Got a chocolate and salted caramel cronut for takeaway, which might have tasted better while it was fresh, but overall, I liked it. The Biscoff donut would have been better if it had more filling.
B.
Good service and tasty food. The coffee is great as well. I thought the 10% surcharge was excessive, especially since there was no mention of it on the menu...
J. G.
We were sat super quickly but a super nice server. The place looked great and it had a nice selection of anything you’d want for brunch. A case towards the front had a wonderful offering of pastries/sweets to snag if you wanted.
The coffee and food were delicious and piping hot. I needed to wait a bit to enjoy either, but once I could it was absolutely delicious. Fair price point as well!
M. N.
Amazing staff, so lovely, helpful and accommodating. Delicious coffee and food, absolutely love this place and would definitely recommend. I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you so much to my wonderful dear friend who showed me this awesome place! 💙💜😊💙💜

One of the best coffee places in All Sydney! The staff is incredibly cordial and attentive, and their lunch is incredible! I especially liked their vegetarian selection, as I quite recently became one. My wife had the polenta and I had the pesto barley, and we loved every taste of it! Of course front and center we have their selection of coffee. It's the second time I visited their venue, and for the second time I couldn't just have one coffee: I have to have at minimum two of them! Please try their cold brew, you'll thank me later!!

As a visitor to a Newtown from the States I found in this Brewtown location to be absolutely ideal. Visited on a Friday morning with two toddlers and found the staff to be incredibly kind, accommodating, and professional. The coffees were fantastic, my Cappuccino with almond was fixed brilliantly. I think I gained 5 kg just looking at the pastries. I chose the donut which was a fabulous choice. I have never before had a donut made with croissant dough and I was not disappointed! Lots of seating, a kind, compassionate staff, open air location, water bowls outside for the pets… What is there not to love about this location? Did I mention the coffee was delicious? When one of the children wandered upstairs I was delighted to see the fruits of the bakers labor. Gorgeous, gorgeous pastries… Almost to good to eat! Almost.
Thank you Brewtown.

We normally love coming here as the food and coffee are great but I decided to order a green juice for once. It turned out to be way too sweet for my liking as if 90% of the drink was apples with a touch of kale, celery and ginger. I couldn't finish it. Besides that, the eggs benedict was good.
K. K. (.
Went for brekkie ... Loved the service and the vibe of the place.... The haloumi sandwich was yum
P. v. B.
Friendly service, slick warehousey feel and doughnuts that are just a little bit fancy so you're drawn to indulge. The savoury food all looks good too. Would have been a 5 star review but on this busy Sunday morning a couple of coffees took close to 20 mins. But hey, maybe I need to chill more; I mean it's a Sunday morning right!?
C. G.
Every dish we had was well prepared but with slightly small portions. The prawn roll was a stand out. Good brisket. Coffee was great, with plenty of options and we particularly liked the batch brew. Didn't think that the steampunk coffee was worth the price, though it was interesting. Service was great!
L. C.
Bit of a mixed bag. Venue is great with nice vibe. Coffee was fantastic. Milkshake was on the watery side with ice in the ice cream.
The Brewtown burger was very meaty and I couldn't finish it all. The risotto was great and had wonderful flavours as did the pavlova.
Might have to give it another try at some other point, but we won't be rushing back.

One of the brunch spot that has open for many years in Newtown in a spicious industrial warehouse chic decor. They probably the first few that start the cronuts trend in Sydney they make their own cronuts upstairs in the bakery and roasted their own beans. Use to brunch here many years back their brunch menu are the western style brunch and the menu are not too expensive mostly around $18. I like their cronuts and coffee it's good.
S. M.
Stopped here for breakfast with my wife and some of her work colleagues. Staff were friendly and accommodating, helping with menu selection. Food was served promptly and tasted really good.
A. C.
Quaint little cafe located off king street in Newtown, in a converted warehouse space.
Food is organic and tasty and they offer a large selection of coffee to choose from. Staff were friendly and accommodating and made sure we were seated at a comfortable table. The deserts are delicious especially the almond croissant.
O. G.
Coffee and sweets were great. The Philly Cheese steak was awesome. I personally didn't like the Elvis burger as the bun.is made from donut dough
A. T.
A little disappointed with Brewtown this time, unfortunately. I have been here in the past, from memory I had a crab breakfast and it was amazing. This time, I was a little underwhelmed. We had the Corned Beef Hash and the Scottish Sausage B&E Roll (I think that’s the name). Unfortunately the corned beef was a little dry and the B&E roll was quite salty. Overall disappointing unfortunately. Everyone should still give it a try though, maybe I’m just unlucky!?

Brewtown just seems to go from strength. We've been a few times, and it's always a hive of energy and immensely popular. Their brewnuts are legendary, but it doesn't end there. I was impressed with their steampunk machine which delivered a delicious brew. Their milk coffees are just as good. I loved their fish burger. It's a bold dish yet thoroughly delicious. Crab and scrambled omelettes will sell out on occasions, and little wonder, as it's sublime. Definitely worth a visit, just be sure to get there early on a weekend.
P. W.
Big space, easy service. Juice was excellent, and we liked the polenta a lot, both the vegan and the poached egg versions
D. M.
Great service and free sparkling water - what a combination! Funky and airy cafe off of king street. Trendy crowd to match the diverse and varied menu. Really enjoyed twists on classics such as squid ink benedict. Sides >$4 so definitely pushing the higher priced side of Newtown breakfast.
J. G.
Have been numerous times and I always get slightly disappointed. Quality and menu option to cost is fair and the service adequate, but often feel they fall one step short of getting there. My last experience was rather sub par. Great pastry selection and coffee, but the brunch menu is found wanting.
A.
Great atmosphere at the newly refurbished Newtown! Coffee was fantastic and food was interesting. If you like very thickly cut bacon then this place has your back!
K. N.
Brewtown has excellent coffee - the iced latte was perfect for a hot day. I also had the Reuben Sandwich was quite good. Will come back for the pastries next time 😍
I. S.
Food and ambience were fantastic. Site looks great. Most waiters rather snobby though one man delivering our coffee (had a moustache) was quick to enter conversation and make sure he left on a high note.
A. R.
A hidden cool cafe in newtown. They’re using an old buiding but the interior design is really cool. First floor is the cafe and second floor is bakery. The coffee is really good but the bakery is better. I bought some doughnuts at the second floor. They’re selling many kinds of breads there. Would love to go back there to have a sip of morning coffee on weekends.
A. R.
The venue is really nice, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. The cronuts are especially good!
C. A.
Had a live caterpillar in my pulled pork and poached egg from the microgreens they put on. Was quickly changed and offered a fresh plate by our waiter. Had the mushroom on brioche buns which was nice. Food and coffee were still delicious despite the setback, but one of the staff that talked to us about it could barely keep from rolling his eyes at almost every customer he dealt with, including us when told about the caterpillar in the food.
S. K.
Fantastic coffee! If you're a coffee fanatic get it brewed in their steampunk machine! Their food is always changing and always delicious. Lost one star for uncomfortable and cramped seating. It's cramped even with a group of 4.
K. C.
Really enjoyed coffee and brunch at Brewtown. Located on the less busy end of Newtown, this industrial style cafe was comfortable and had great service and food. I loved the polenta mushroom and the corned beef hash creatively wrapped in cabbage. I'd come back again.
R.
Went here for brunch. While the menu was more expensive than similar cafes in the area and portions were small the flavours were incredible, service was quick and presentation was flawless. Deserving of a five star review.
My partner and I both ordered the eggs Benedict which is served on beautiful soft toast with the most delicious hollandaise I have tasted in Sydney. It was light, buttery with just the perfect touch of dry acidity.
We ordered a side of mushrooms and although these were flavourful and delicious I was disappointed to receive only two mushrooms for $5.
We also ordered a cappacunino which I was pleased to see is a proper cappacunino opposed to the latest served elsewhere. It was equally good.
While there are more budget friendly options in the area this is a highly recommended spot for a special occasion or to mix up our usual rosters of cafes.
Thanks for a great meal!
K. C.
Good range of food on the menu with some specials. Had the black sausage special with a cold brew. Food was tasty and prices were not too bad for the special.
M. I. M. C.
Had the Black sausage and also the polenta Brunch and it was sooo delicious. We live in Sydney but originally from South America, Chile. Trying out this two flavors that are very common in our country was great.
Very good coffee and mocha!!
Very good service!
L.
Have to wait when it's busy(lunch time), waiting space upstairs is so cool with cakes and records. I enjoyed Ocean Trout Salad which is well marinated with dressing.
S. D.
Delicious!
Such a nice venue with some amazing food and desserts!
Have to check them out as they come highly recommended by Tourism Australia.
E. H.
Brewtown has never failed to disappoint! Great coffee bean variety consistently pulled, menu has always got delicious vegetarian options, and a big cronut dessert selection! Only downside is the menu changes every few months 😭, but the plus is whatever delicious food on the menu is replaced with just as delicious food!
D. A.
This café is neatly tucked away on the side street but is spacious when you enter. There's ample places to sit and do some work but the main reason to stay would be the excellent coffee and the croissanterie situated upstairs. If you like it slightly dimly lit with a respectable menu and sweets to share then this place is the place to be!
S. K.
These guys never fail!
Best coffee in Sydney hands down!
Tried my first ever Creme Brûlée Cronut & wow!
To create the actual filling & crackling to replicate the crème brûlée is simply genius!
The taste is to die for!
The food is insane also….
Cinnamon French Toast was simply divine.
Thanks again guys, great to see you thrived through Covid!
I’ll be back again with friends!
D. B.
The place is OK. Food tastes pretty decent, I ordered a beef brisket. It was good but i didn't get full so had to take some of my wife's bagel which was a little burned. What surprised me the most is that they don't have almond milk there, it's not a deal breaker but still, would be nice to have that option. Place is pretty packed so be prepared to wait for 10-20 min. Staff was very polite so that's a plus.
C. W.
There Ferrero slice was delicious especially if you like Ferrero Roche chocolate. I also got a hazelnut latte which was good 😁🤤❤️
Z. Z.
Cafe in a hipster area good for brunch food but the sausage is a bit strong in smell. Coffee is good tho!
C. W.

Omg. Can’t fault this place. All day brunch menu and amazing food. We ordered the waffle and polenta dish and they were both faultless. I can’t wait to go back.
H. H.
One of the best coffee in Sydney! The breakfast roll is really worth to try.

One of my new favourite coffee spots! Really great atmosphere, hidden in a small laneway. Would recommend if you are coming by Newtown.
K. C.
Really enjoyed coffee and brunch at Brewtown. Located on the less busy end of Newtown, this industrial style cafe was comfortable and had great service and food. I loved the polenta mushroom and the corned beef hash creatively wrapped in cabbage. I'd come back again.

Chicken Panini & Ruben was one of the best we've had ANYWHERE!
J.
I've been here a few times many years ago...came back this week and was a little disappointed. The food isn't as good as it was before. Friendly staff though and service was good.
A. E.
interior is quite impressive. however meals are definitely on the pricier side, with corn fritters for $18 and a breakfast roll for $15. fortunately there are cheaper options, which are toward the front in a glass display, including various pastries, slices and cakes (of which I believe are made upstairs). they provide free mineral water which was nice.
the coffee art was quite spectacular, and the heated up, chocolate croissant I had was perhaps the greatest croissant I have ever had in my entire life.
T. B.
Seems to be a regular in the lists of must try cafes. Big open industrial style space, as expected, plenty of seating. The menu itself was a real "all day menu" covering everything from your breakfast eggs to a burger, no real distinction between more breakfast foods and more after breakfast foods, not that that should stop you from having a burger at 8am. The coffee was good. The baked polenta (with egg, making it breakfast) was delicious and the kale pesto full of flavour. A mountain of corn beef hash arrived under a braised cabbage leaf, and the delights underneath did not dissapoint, full flavoured and tender with a perfect balance of salt. Staff were friendly and helpful, only 2 at front of house.
G.
Great warehouse style Cafe, with friendly staff and excellent food. The breakfast bun was amazing! Hit the spot!
R. O.
The staff were friendly and we were seated quite quickly. I got a cold brew coffee which was not too bad but on the weaker side. It took a while for the food to come but it was pretty decent.
P. L.
5?! Humble and quality cafe. Every item our group ordered was a little bit special (including Milo pop-rocks Cronut). Great variety of coffee, genuine service. May 2016: same experience. Jan 2017: best long black (gesha) and food (beef brisket, poached eggs) this year.
J. V.
One of the first local cafes to introduce the Cronut and they do not disappoint. A must try combo would be the Golden Gaytime Cronut and a side of Affogato. Apart from their delicious brunch menu and amazingly brewed coffees, the atmosphere has always been a popular spot for many. However, get there early as you should expect a long queue outside arriving between 10:30am - 2:30pm, especially on weekends. Enjoy!
I. H.
The building is gorgeous! Older industrial building decorated well, bakery upstairs is amazing! Highly recommend the apple biscoff donut 😍💕 great little spot and the staff are lovely too!
M. T.
My long black was not so good but my friends and I had a great time there. A nice place to hang out with friends.
r. R.
Neat cafe in a fantastic spot in newtown. Great view and food was great the bacon butter is exquisite touch along with the coffee. Staff were bubbly and great!!
N. C.
So its a rarity i sit in a cafe as a customer, being trained in hospitality 19years i really dont get the time..
This space is so appealing yet well balanced for excitement and peace of mind moments.
I ordered the brisket... Words can't define how good this meal is.
Not too heavy but heavy enough to leave you fully satisfied.
Beautiful... Just beautifully done.
C. S.
Surprise discovery! My brekkie roll was delish and they also got a bakery upstairs
Y. M.
Good filling brekkie with a nice chilled atmosphere. However, it’s a bit hectic and loud in the weekends (unsurprising given that it’s a pretty popular cafe)
S.
Food was really good, cute venue. Service was okay, nobody came to check on us and our water was gone quickly for 4 people. Would return.
b. b.
An industrial style cafe with locally famous cronuts. Aside from it being a bit cramped inside the atmosphere is nice, the staff are really friendly and they give you sparkling (lol) water. Their chicken wrap was good but the bread was a bit difficult to eat since it was super hard. Their chai also left a bit to be desired if you really enjoy a strong chai like me, but they do give you honey which tastes great with it!
J.
I've been here a few times many years ago...came back this week and was a little disappointed. The food isn't as good as it was before. Friendly staff though and service was good.
H. H.
One of the best coffee in Sydney! The breakfast roll is really worth to try.
D. Z.
The best place to get a Cronut in Sydney! A good variety of coffees on offer as well. Nice espresso and batch brew.
R. L.
Coffee and food were delicious. The waitresses were attentive and efficient. Had the green bowl which I highly recommend!
C. B.
Coffee:awesome. Food:awesome. Service:awesome. (And all that from a guy who thinks the word “awesome” is totally overused....☕️ )
S. z.
First time here and will definitely back again to this groovy side laneway cafe. Friendly relaxed staff.
I had the baked polenta with hummus, pesto, mushroom and soft poached egg which was divine and perfect size for brekky. The green juice was yummy too. My partners breakfast milk bun roll was packed to the brim with scrambled eggs sausage bacon and rocket which he loved. We picked up some treats and bread in the new upstairs bakery too which is all home made deliciousness!
A great find to add to our local fave haunts in newtown!
N. A. S.
The creme brulee cronut is 😋🔥. The juice was fresh and that cheese stake 🤤 amazing. 🙏
C. R.
Still appears to be the best tasting coffee in Sydney. Note that it can get super busy on weekends (don't let my idyllic photo fool you). I like to go in and order my coffee, leave and walk for 10 minutes then come and pick it up after.
E. N. K.
Green bowl was definitely green....but at 19 dollars it could do with a bit of avocado or olive oil dressing. The brew coffee is nice and the service good.
J. F.
Good coffee, the breakfast roll was 4 out of 5, the Belgian waffle...my kid asked it came from Coles...it did taste very similar.
A. G.
Always good variety of rolls at a reasonable price. Always queues of people. Busy place and healthy food.
G.
I got a simple poached eggs on toast but the eggs were too cooked. the manager realised straight away as I was complaining with my friend and he insisted to make it again and to offer me a coffee to apologise.
Definitely a great customer service!
Plus the bread was so good that I went back the day after to get an entire loaf:)
Highly recommend the rye sourdough!!
H. B.
Brew cronut was amazingly delicious! Creme brulè was nice too.
S. P.
One of my favourite coffee and brunch spots. Coffee is nice and strong, how it should be! They do a perfect flat white.
Cinnamon cronut was as delicious as it sounded. Their pastry menu is overwhelming with so many things I want to eat. But just means I'll have to return regularly! 😁
S. K.
Amazing coffee and the customer service is some of the best I've received in Sydney. Also the waffles are to die for!
T. R.
Great space with a friendly team. The coffee is good and their pastry range only consists of Cronuts.
Our eggs benny was very tasty and a generous size portion.
P. R.
The coffee and breakfast burger with hash was on point 👍. Finished with a parcel of deliciousness ....Creme Brulee Cronut 😋😋😋, I warn you these thing would literally stop arguments. The best cronut in Sydney. The service by Simon and team was of the highest calibre. Champagne coffee, food and service 😊. I will definitely be back
P.
The food was so delicious and the menu had lots of unique options!
S. T. C.
Exposed brick wall antique look great local cafe with tasty breakfast and really good coffee
A. H.
This restaurant never lets you down, food is delicious and priced very generously, staff are very friendly. A lot of seats & space. The new bakery up the stairs is great. Great experience, will definitely be coming regularly.
S. F. A.
Amazing coffee, great staff, great food and desserts!
A. C.
Chicken Panini & Ruben was one of the best we've had ANYWHERE!
f. a.
Amazing hot chocolate, so smooth and definitely not too sweet. You get a nice hint of bitter cocoa but its not overpowering and the froth was very creamy!
Its a great place to do some work if you have your laptop, the music isnt annoying or too loud and the tables are spaced out nicely.
S. A.
Favourite Cafe in Newtown, just got even better. There on Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Ordered the chilli burger and the Ruben sandwich. Wow! That chilli burger was sensational. The food was cooked perfectly, still hot and packaged very well. My order notes were executed correctly and they even left me a nice note, which I thought was a nice touch. Highly recommended.
😋😋😋😋😋
B. M.
Pretty good range of coffee and options. Decent food I had The green bowl because I wanted to feel
Like I’m healthy.
M. C.
I can’t thank the lovely gentleman that served us enough this morning (6/7/21) for such kind hospitality - sorry I didn’t get his name.
Visiting the area for a visit to RPA with my mother, his kindness, generosity and smile in such an awful lockdown time absolutely made our day. Thankyou also for the delicious takeaway breakfast and coffees ( and take home treats) and for treating us with such kindness in a world where that can be a rarity, was greatly appreciated.
M. M.
Great atmosphere, good for a short brunch, food was better than average
S. B.
Lovely food and coffee. Friendly stuff but about slow to get the food. Close to the King St and lots of people coming for breakfast.
E. S.
Simply awesome breakfast. Plan enough time to wait as there is usually a queue.
C. J.
Classic Newtown Cafe. Enjoyed my coffees, Reuben sandwich and cronut. Yum
G. B.
Really loved this place! Amazing service, food was brilliant and they even have sparkling water on tap!!
K. I.
Amazing coffee and food , lovely staff .
My favorite place ;)
M. A.
I ordered some lunch via ubereats and everything was delicious. The Reuben was tasty and the donuts were a great treat. Looking forward to actually visiting in person to try more of the items on the menu.
J. G. (.
The coffee is good, a robust blend with flavours of dark chocolate but avoiding too much bitterness or tasting dusty. The food menu was disappointing, typical boring Sydney fare. Id read reviews of beetroot cured ocean trout but was presented with a menu of bacon and egg rolls and eggs benedict. *Yawn*. Tried the breakfast roll - the sausage was undercooked and raw, and the rest just flavourless. The eggs benny with salmon was a square piece of white toast, a single egg, and not even a piece of garnish. Uninspired.
T. T.
The space and the coffee are nice. However the croissants are like eating cardboard, dry is an understatement. I hope this is just a matter of old bread and they normally bake fresh each day.
C. K.
Service was good. Unfortunately my poached eggs were over cooked and not runny at all. The sourdough toast was dry and very hard to cut. My daughter had the french toast. She was very happy with it.
J. C.
Good food and coffee. Busy place with fast accommodating service
4.5 stars!
L. R.
Really nice coffee. The menu was expensive for ordinary breakfast foods. I ordered the beef hash, which was oddly wrapped in a lettuce leaf. It gets a very generous 3 stars. Going to vote with my dollars elsewhere local, Newtown is full of great options.
S. L.
Went there because there was a TimeOut article saying that they were giving away free cronuts "all day". When we arrived at 10am, upon questioning the man at the counter gruffly said that they had 'ran out'. For real? The cafe wasn't busy at all. Not getting a free item isn't a big deal, but don't use publicity to lie and draw customers in, it's just not a good look. Despite that, I ordered a coffee and a cronut. Didn't realise until I checked my card after that it cost $12!! Ridiculous prices. I had grabbed a sweet pastizzi from the italian place nearby as well ($3.50) and enjoyed that much more than the chocolate hazelnut cronut I got. I found the cronut wasn't as crispy or balanced in flavour. Coffee was good but at $6 or however much I paid, I'd prefer Campos on Missenden for a higher quality brew. Overall a sour experience.
R. P.
I remember this place being great, but visited recently and it was pretty disappointing. Coffee was good, but food was bland and unappetising. Also, not something I usually would comment on, but the bathrooms were pretty awful.
B. A.
They are always busy but the wait was made easy by the availability of a coffee and desert place on the second floor. The wait itself was not that long. Not a large selection of food but the lobster omelette was a very nice dish.
Our server Lily was a superstar and she took care of all the orders in an efficient manner, ensuring that we were catered to the entire time.
Their desert selection was also quite nice.
k. h.
great space, good coffee and great food. i don't care for their no substitutions policy, especially considering that a side of any type of greens is virtually impossible to get but the side of wild mushrooms i had were incredible and the salmon is amazing as well. room for improvement but awesome potential.
L. F.
Come! It's worth it.
I loved:
Food - in two visits I've had 4 tasty, tasty dishes. The squid ink linguine is divine.
Coffee - very tasty. The cold brew coffee is great on a warm afternoon. Previous visit piccolo latte was great.
Cronuts - interesting pastries. Try one and make up your own mind.
Service - friendly, efficient even when the place is excessively busy.
I will be back.
T. B.
I've been here twice for brekky and it doesn't disappoint! This place has great service and coffee. I Iove the green bowl, zucchini fritters (sorry no photos!) and that they have vegetarian and gluten free options. Note: If you love bacon make sure to try their bacon jam!
M. H.
Great atmosphere and food. I had a piccolo and a homer cronut. Flipping delicious! Bakery upstairs was amazing too. I'll be back for more doughnuts and maybe a pack of coffee beans.
S. B.
Brewtown has reopened 😀 The food , coffee, service and atmosphere are as on point as ever. I had the breakfast roll with a side of mushrooms. The Scottish sausage in the roll is a delicious inclusion. You need this , get back there people. 🙌
J. O.
Green bowl nice and healthy, married with a delicious chamomile tea. Laid back vibes + good service.
J. T.
Be prepared to wait, but it is worth it. Cool place to brunch and lunch in Newtown. It's hard to resist the baked goods at the counter, baked fresh daily. A solid poached eggs on toast, with the eggs cooked perfectly. The stand out dish was the coffee rubbed brisket with mushrooms, poached eggs and horseradish goats curds. The meat was tender and flavoursome.
L. H.
Not a bad place for breakfast if you have some time to wait in line. Food is decent, they have a large variety of coffee from normal espresso to cold press and cold drip. However they serve you sparkling water, and I'm not a fan of sparkling water.
M. D.
Had the burger which was pretty good - not too big, just right. Low fat beef so the dominant flavours were the smoked bacon and the gherkin. Service was quite speedy even though they were fairly busy. Bought some pastries from upstairs to take away. They were pretty yummy but maybe too gooey when they should have been firm.
A. M.
I've always loved this space (previously a bookshop/cafe) so glad to see it's been turned into a place I can still visit. There certainly isn't a shortage of good coffee/breakfast options in Newtown. But despite this, Brewtown brings a freshness to the market. The staff are friendly, immediately greeting guests as they arrive and very attentive. The breakfast options are diverse, healthy to not so healthy, but all tasty. The cronuts certainly draw the crowds, so they are doing something right.
A. Q.
Being in Sydney, this place is a diamond within the rough ... of equally swell diamonds. Big fan of their coffee and other things, but it doesn’t really set itself apart from the rest. The coffee also is far too mediocre for the staff to behave as pretentious as they are. Having heard many great things about this place maybe got my hopes up. Worth a visit.
J. D.
It was not even officially on the menu as a dish, but ‘just some’ scrambled eggs and toast I asked for turned out to be the best I’ve ever had. Coffee and atmosphere were good too.
N. Z. (. O.
Beautifully presented food and well priced.

The best coffee around. Such an awesome vibe and great food too. Off the main road of Newtown too so not so crazy noisy. It can however get busy fast.. this place is not a secret anymore so if you want to sit in, be prepared to wait for a few mins. It will be worth it when you get in. Amazing single origin flavours worth the try!
J. H.
Good portion of food, great service
P. T.
Amazing coffee and food selection. Try get in early to avoid long waiting times. Aim to come in a group of less than 3 during peak periods to secure a table. My favourite and go to recommendations are the Brekkie Burger and the delicious French Toast. I've never had a more delicious French toast in my life.

I went back to Brewtown after 2.5 years. Unfortunately food not as good as it used to be. Customer service has also gone downhill. While the two staffs weren't rude, but all they did was stand together and chat. No check to see if customers required anything. I had taken friends who have not been to Brewtown before and sad to say none of us were impressed.

A favourite in Sydney. Amazing coffee & amazing food. Pancakes or poached eggs are always a winner. They also have cronuts - try it if you haven't already. It seems to be busy all the time but it's worth the wait.
Go upstairs too for more delicious treats, a pop up store, and potential free cupping sessions! It's the best.
Z. L.
Trendy steampunk coffee joint. The decor here is great except for the back wall which is just plain white and stands out against the brick and mortar finish which is consistent across the rest of the cafe. There is a bakery upstairs and the coffee is decent. It was a little cold in my experience but I personally am used to extra hot. I would give it a higher rating except almost all the staff looked like they didn't want to be working there, all except the barista.

It’s okay but a far cry from its glory during the cronut craze years ago. Coffee is great and the food is delicious however the menu and playlist leave a lot to be desired. Gone are the clipboards and card menus; replaced by cheap and nasty looking laminated sheets of a4. The music feels like it’s lifted from a top40 station instead of the indie or classic hip-hop staples.
L. C.
Really great atmosphere and lovely staff, we just had coffee and a snack, the Cronuts were mouth watering, there were only 2 types at 12pm, cinnamon or glazed. Coffee was nice and strong. Will be back to try something else on the menu soon.
E. P.
Generous serves of yummy food, and good coffee, but it's a bit off putting to have the bill put in front of you almost in sync with the removal of your plate.
I've been here once before when there was a rabid throng of caffeine-deprived hipsters outside waiting for tables, but on this occasion we didn't seem to be holding up the table.
We would have ordered two more coffees, but we didn't actually get the chance to ask, and it was clear that we were being told to move on.
u.
Spectacular breakfast, I can't wait to come again for their lunch time menu. The cronuts are good but the star of the show are the dishes on the menu especially the Black Sausage dish. It is well-priced for the quality on offer.
Full review and photos on my blog.

After all the hype of this place that I have been reading about, this place definitely lives up to it's reputation.
I had the pancakes and iced slow drip coffee and then to finish off, their famous cronut. I was not disappointed.
I'd like to point out that for a cafe that is well known for it's food and coffee this wasn't the aspect that I was most impressed with. It was the staff, we had 3 separate staff members come up and ask what we thought and if we needed anything else and they weren't even the ones that took our order.
I felt like our table was speed dating the waiters and waitresses and I loved the experience.
If you want an experience to go along with your tasty tasty food and wonderful coffee then get your butt down to Brewtown in Newtown.
K. D.
Love this cafe, definitely a must visit. The Cronuts, coffee and bistro style brunch menu are sure to please even the most fussy eaters. Service is great too.
The only downside are the weekend lines, get in early to avoid waiting too long in line.
One of my favorite cafes in Sydney at the moment!
p. g.
Great coffee, good food. Best service.
K. C.
We went there last weekend, it was really nice coffe and cronut much better than Surry Hills
Y. C.
Came in with high hopes but did not feel like it was worth the wait.. The place itself is pretty cool in terms of brunch spots but the food wasn't really a standout for me so I haven't been back since. Brunch was so so and I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee but the Cronuts were good ( ..but you'd just as easily find it somewhere else and just as good these days)
R. Y.
Hands down best breakfast and cronuts in Newtown! Their lattes are amazing and everything is reasonably priced! The coffee art is beautiful and you can tell they definitely put effort into it. The veggie burger with the Swiss cheese is highly recommend!
L. P.
Had late a breakfast today and was recommended to try Brewtown . Great atmosphere, food good, coffee luke warm but good. Highlight of the day was my waitress....think she was new, hope they hired her, she was a delight( American with long dark hair). Other staff a bit dismissive.
T. J.
Great food, located near city and transportation.
F. H.
I absolutely love the atmosphere at this cafe, they even have a store upstairs. However I found their food selection somewhat limited and a little pricey. I went with their avo toast with stuffed zucchini flower. Although it tasted great, it wasn't particularly filling. Luckily there are so many restaurants and cafes nearby, my friend and I were able to satiate our hunger quite easily. Since I'm from out of town, I made plans to try other places nearby. If I hadn't I would've definitely gotten one of their cronuts and coffee, which all looked amazing.
R. K.
i love spending my mornings chilling at Brewtown and enjoying the great vibes! Super friendly staff and great service, Food is delicious and enjoyable for breakfast, brunch and lunch! And the coffee here is one of best around!
S. M.
I was surprised by the taste of their Chai Latte, I think it was one of the best I had since I am in Australia. Give it a try if your a chai person. My friend had a coffee and she said it was good. I also had a pecan sticky pie and it was excellent, as well as poached eggs on sourdough with fries (yes I eat a lot in the morning). The portion of fries was so good and huge! Only take it if you're really hungry or able to share with friends. Poached eggs, bread and relish all met my expectations of a nice brekkie. Staff was nice and funny, and the place has a cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend for a good brekkie, but get there early or you might have to wait to get a table.
A. S.
4 of us came here one drizzly Sunday morning for breakfast. There were still a few empty tables around. Service was prompt.
We had the black sausage, salmon, corned beef hash and polenta with mushroom. All the dishes were above average, worth the price. Midway thru our breakfast, there was a sudden influx of customers and a queue started to form. But the kitchen and wait staffs coped beautifully. Dishes kept coming out of the kitchen, floor staffs attentive. Well managed cafe this one.
Oh, give those cronuts out front a try. We bought 5 for takeaway. 😉
G. D. E.
Really great food and good coffee. Only downside was I found the waiter a bit rude when asking a question about the menu. I'll put it down to him having a bad day, but that was a bit of a dampener on the experience.
C. C.
Our local and honestly some of the best coffee in Newtown. Food is creative and the menu is compact which might disappoint those who want a million options. No reserve seating leaves (warranted) queues out the door. Worth a shot if you don't mind an early start!
A. S.
I figured it was time to write a review for Brewtown..I have been here twice, and each time had a good experience.
The first time was to try the food, I had the Corned beef hash with garden peas, poached egg and parmesan crumbs. The food was super tasty, and the prices were decent. The table sizes were questionable..our food + coffees barely fit on the table..Also there was about a 40 min wait outside to get into the cafe. This seems to be a normal thing on a Saturday morning around Brunch time..expect to wait. The coffees are decent, not my favourite blend but a staple with my brunch nonetheless.
The second time here was just to order coffee + a cronut. We tried the nutella flavoured cronut, it was more like a croissant than a donut (i prefer the ones that taste a little more donut-y), but still good! Will definitely return to try the other flavours. You have to go upstairs to buy the cronut, however you can also just do a takeaway if you don't want to wait half an hour for a seat on a busy morning.
F. K.
The cronuts everyone's been talking about are pretty good; I like jam and glazed the best. The black sausage breakfast is actually really good; I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did - the black sausage (whatever it's made of) is rich and flavorful, and seared nicely. People say their coffee is amazing, but I don't think I'm discerning enough to tell. A bit on the pricey side overall, I think, but it's pretty good stuff.
K. E.
Excellent customer service. I bought a ground espresso bean and the recommendation was really good, the staff in Brewtown has a good understanding and knowledge about coffee. The tasting for it was for free.
B. S.
Awesome food - I wish I could've fit in a bruffin or cronut which sounded delicious. Coffee was so good I had to grab some beans to take home! They know how to do coffee. Service is pretty good as well. It's fairly noisy inside though as it gets really busy
V. C.
The main menus look good on paper and picture, the taste doesn't really blow you away. Mum's burger were salty, the scramble egg was overcooked, toast was too hard on the side. Overrated for a crowded joint.
A. K.
Great unique breakfast choices and a wide range of coffee for enthusiasts. We had the green breakfast bowl and the beef brisket with poached eggs. A great choice for foodies looking for a hip cafe.
Q. S.
One of the best ten coffee shops in Sydney.
I liked their coffee and environment.
P. U.
3 stars goes for the coffee that is good. The latest menu is really overpriced and underdelivered. You're paying for creative menu descriptions. My eggs benedict on a brioche for $13 was the size of a McMuffin, but less filling. Had a second brunch elsewhere to fill up.
M. Q.
Hipster vibe. Very busy but the food is nice. Limited menu. Upstairs is a mini shop setup where you can buy nice coffee related items like manual grinders and travel percolaters designed as travel mugs. They will serve up samples of their coffee blends to try before you buy the beans.
J. L.
I love the service here: they'll seat you, organize complimentary mineral water, bring you a menu and take your coffee order, return with a great coffee and take your food order. Always interesting food on the menu. No matter how busy it looks out front, pop in, you'll be looked after.
S. C.
The menu looked awesome but I only had eyes for the cronuts. I tried the jam, got a take away chocolate for my beloved, and I hear the cinnamon ones are sublime. Coffee is great, there's a good vibe, service is friendly and efficient and the food is delish. I had a cronut to start and some poached eggs to follow. The rest of the menu and the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. I'll be back. It's cronut o'clock!
A. Z.
The place was so busy in lunch time when we came. There were still some sits to we could eat in. The service was not grate as waiter (who took the order) was not polite and had no interest to be nice to us. In addition to that i ordered my favorite desert sticky date pudding that was never failed in any place before, and they brought be some gooew that taste so strange and did not have anything common with standard sicky date pudding all other cafes/restaurants offer.
Very disappointment with the visit.
S. S.
What a wonderful place this is, located in a side street of the popular King street in Newtown. The place is quite big but is very busy during weekends and there is always a queue to get a seat in this popular joint. The Cronuts and Cruffins are one of the best I have had and they come in a variety of flavors. The savory dishes on the menu are also a great and is priced reasonably compared to similar cafes elsewhere. Must Visit.
P. M.
After reading some pretty rave reviews recently about Brewtown Newtown I had to go along and try it out for myself. I loved the bookshop that had previously occupied the site so it was mixed feelings when I saw it re-open as a cafe.
We arrived on a very hot and busy Saturday morning and were immediately greeted by a friendly waiter who told us there would be a short wait and offered menus and sparkling water while we waited. There was a buzzy happy vibe and the food coming looked amazing so we really didn't mind the slight delay.
I had the corn beef hash and eggs and it was perfect. The other meals ordered by our group were also great - by the end of the meal we were almost arguing over whose was best. I intend to return soon and try more of the menu to find out!
B. S.
Excellent coffee selection, and brewed very well. Breakfast was tasty and well cooked.
For the price portions are a little on the small side, but the place has a nice atmosphere and is conviently located.
J. S.
Watch the pastry chef's at work whilst you indulge in a large selection of deserts & great coffee.
Z.
Really excellent food but the vibe isn’t the same, the EDM music is SOOOO intense and not like an off king st vibe, maybe try some chill jazz or lofi hiphop, something chill and relaxing. Hire some locals!!!! and make sure they remember the food they are bringing out.
K. W.
Awesome. 2nd time here and I love it. First time the Brisket was to-for-for. This time the Eggs Benny w mushroom was AMAZING. Coffee is scrumptious. I'm gonna have a second cup. Music is soulful but not intrusive. Industrial chic w heaps of seating. Friendly, attentive service. One of the best cafés I know of in Sydney. And I've been to a lot. And Im very fussy. 6/5 stars!
D. S.
Was referred by a colleague to visit. Pleasant atmosphere and service. Food was fine and the coffee was well received. Probably can't fault this place much, will come back again when I'm in the area.
D. D.
Believe their name and love their coffee! Not only are the cups and saucers the cutest, the coffee is amazingly good. The cronuts, well, we're undecided. We love the buttery, flaky croissants so we're just not sure about it being fried and having all that oil flow out when we bite into one. The honey & lime mascarpone that goes with the banana bread made it that much more comforting. Orange ricotta with caramelised figs jump out and overtake the waffles that came with them. We can't wait to visit again and go through the entire breakfast menu!
W. M.
Lovely cafe with a good atmosphere. Just stopped in for a takeaway coffee, but the staff were lovely and the food I saw being taken to other tables is enough to know I will definitely be back at another time to get the full experience.
D. W. C.
Love this place. Coming from Melbourne with great cafes everywhere, this was up there for sure! Had a chance to catch up on some work on the laptop and had an amazing lunch! Hot day, do the sparkling water was great and the iced Egyptian tea on point! Thanks guys!
E. C.
Disappointing. I've been here a few times in the last few years and today's visit was a let down.
I had the egg benny brioche - it was a slice of brioche, topped with salmon slices and a poached egg along with a huge dollop of hollandaise sauce (imagine a huge ice cream scoop amount). It looked as though it was put together in a hurry. Coffee was also just average.
G. L.
This place is a not-so-hidden gem.. Just off the main street, EVERYONE knows it's here.. And for good reason.
The coffee is simply some of the best in Sydney.. Extremely consistent day in, day out.
The atmosphere buzzes as people flock here for coffee and cronuts.. Something I have to admit was nice, but not really my thing.. Although I can definitely see the attraction.
Definitely a place to put on the to-do..
G. G.
Very nice coffee and croissants.
R. A.
Absolutely loved! Staff are friendly and amazing. Food tasty and not very expensive. The coffee is probably the best! Will be back again for sure.
Z. B.
Great coffee and most of the food is top-notch. I wasn't a fan of the cronuts but the rest of the menu is great. I always try to go just when they open, otherwise the wait for tables is a half-hour minimum.
B. T.
Really good customer service. 5 min inside the cafe and 3 staff approached us to see if we have ordered. I ordered corn fed beef and it was pretty good. I’ve never seen anything like it
K.
I came here just for their infamous cronuts and they sure didnt disappoint. Love the cinnamon cronut! There is a bit of a queue during weekend morning peak hour but it's worth the wait in calories and taste! The sweets tasted just as good as they looked and their mains are just as tasty. Service was friendly despite the rush.
D. H.
Food selection is great, pointed out by most reviews. Poached eggs were overdone though else everything else are pretty awesome especially the coffee rubbed brisket. leave some room for cronut or have someone else to share!
J. P.
this place is always buzzing, they do great combined salad/meat dishes that are to die for, the chef & his/her team are a credit to the fine cuisine that can be found in Newtown cafes. they made me proud today when they made a small but important change to the Elvis Burger. they will earn a 5 star rating when I see my savoury options in the take away window, because there are far too many sweet options for my liking, but all in all a very good 4 star rating, almost on the edge of a 5 star rating. love u all & thanks for finally taking my advice about the Elvis Burger, Elvis has now left the building lol :-)
K. H.
The serving of scrambled eggs on toast is too heavy for me. I added avocado and mushroom and took away bacon jam.
Coffee was perfect and service good.
J. R.
Great coffee and atmosphere. Food portions were a bit on the smaller side but still tasted very good.
O. T.
Oh Brewtown we had to wait 45 minutes before we could get a seat to eat at one of your tiny 2/3 seater table. While waiting I couldn't help but be tempted to get one of your delectable cronuts or "brewnuts" as they're dubbed here. I asked the counter which brewnut is most popular and was told it was the cinnamon one. Well, I took one bite of it and was a very happy girl. Unlike some other cronuts, this little dough of happiness is not overtly oily or sickly sweet. In fact it was quite mild and delightful. I tried a few other flavours too. The chocolate brewnut was also really tasty. However, I wasn't a fan of the passion fruit flavour, which was sweeter than the other two.
Food itself was pretty standard. I wasn't too impressed by my order of corned beef hash. Also had a bite of the Elvis burger which consisted of a meat patty with cronut buns instead of normal buns and served with a side of chips. It was delicious but very very oily. I would struggle to eat the whole thing but I'll gladly share halves with someone!
Service was pleasant and as for price... I would have to say it's pretty fair for your standard popular hipster cafe. If you go in the weekend, come as a couple or be prepared to wait a while. Better yet, I would just take away some brewnuts next time I’m in the area.
-
Food: 3/5 | Brewnuts: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Atmosphere: 4/5
Value: 4/5
Visit again: Yes
Try these: Elvis burger, Cinnamon brewnut, Chocolate brewnut
S. R.
I was told cronuts came from here,I have no idea! A trendy cafe on the side street on the main road in Newtown. I had no idea this place existed and for a Tuesday brunch time,it was busy. I ordered the Hotcakes with mango curd,if you had the Hotcakes by itself it was a bit sour. The mango curd though balanced the flavours but the fruit that came with it(blueberries and strawberries) wasn't that sweet. It was a filling meal though but I probably wouldn't order it again. One friend says the cronuts are good here and another friend says the corned beef hash is the way to go! Maybe next time
H. C.
Brewtown Newtown is the sister cafe of Gnome (Nom) Cafe in Surry Hills...and true to its name they do a great cup of coffee. As Peter said, the takeaway coffee is peculiarly small, looks like a 6oz cup for whatever reason, while the sit down coffee I had was normal size.
Get ready to queue up since this place was packed with hipsters and Asians. We waited about 30 min for a table for 4 for lunch. Worth the wait? Yes and No...
It seems like the food was hit or miss for the people in my party. I got the Elvis Burger (cronut burger) which unless you don't mind feeling gross for an hour, is what you should order for a coronary artery workout. Seriously, cronut + bacon + beef + cheese+ mayo? A bite of this is rich, delicious, heavy, and full of regret at the same time.
The black sausage brekkie got the half thumbs up, the poached chicken salad with quinoa got two thumbs up, and the baked polenta got the thumbs down as it was bland and undercooked.
We also ordered a jam cronut and glazed cronut...cronut overkill, yes.
The cronuts here are pretty great though...maybe cause they were pretty fresh. They were moist, warm, juicy and...I'm still talking about cronuts, yes. The cronut here is better than the ones I've had at Zumbo, so there's that.
Come here for the coffee and the cronuts, but choose your meal wisely.
E. M.
Had really high expectations of this place as I had heard so many good things but was quite disappointed. The service was good and very efficient. The place was heaving and had a high turnover of people and quite a funky atmosphere. I generally love Newtown. But the food was not the best. The salad I had was just bland and boring. The cronut burger sounded interested and quite creative but it was just way too oily and the oil kinda took over all the other flavours. We also got some sweet cornets which were flying out the door. They were ok. They looked better than they tasted. Again too oily. The Adriano Zumbo zonuts are so much better. Don't think I'll be tempted to go back.
H. B.
So-so coffee, so-so service and the fritters went cooked properly. They happily refunded fritters and two coffees. It might just be Sunday morning syndrome but some of the staff were phoning it in and this place has a great reputation
E. H.
Great food, average coffee, appealing array of cronuts (one of the best in NSW). Price average for cafe/brunch places nowadays, a little wait (probably longer for larger groups) and good service!
V. X.
Been back quite a number of times, each ordering something different and I've yet to find something on the menu that I didn't like. The coffee here no doubt is good as it's run by the guys behind Gnome cafe but the food is equally one to keep your stomach pleased. There tends to be a line on the weekends so get in early. Highly recommend their baked polenta with mushrooms. P.s. they also make cronuts
R. P.
Unbelievably delicious. I had the banana bread with cinnamon butter for $6 as well as a side of bacon and hash browns, because I thought the banana bread would be small, but it was MASSIVE and TO DIE FOR. Great service by the waitresses too.
m. f.
- The best cronut in town, really
- Tasty coffee
- Awesome spot for brunch and breaky, with a cute store upstairs for browsing
- Have been twice and, both times, have had to wait over 30mins before being seated; so don't go if you're starving
- Both times, staff were friendly and welcoming although not hyper attentive on account of being ridiculously busy
K. M.
Tucked away just off King Street, this place is certainly well worth a visit, even if it’s just for their famous cronuts!
With an industrial vibe, huge glass windows to the laneway allow light to flow in across exposed brick walls, rustic wooden communal tables, and smaller café tables and booths.
The place has been packed every time I’ve been there, with people waiting for tables or coffee, so make sure you’re not in a hurry when you go. Despite its popularity, there always seems to be a lot of staff working, and the café is reasonably large, so you don’t have to wait more than about 10 minutes for a table, or for service once you sit down. I’ve only ever eaten here for breakfast/brunch, but the food is delicious, reasonably priced and they have some really interesting dishes on the menu (think: not just standard bacon and eggs).
J. C.
This place serves up great food and coffee, but that means it's also really busy and you'll need to queue at the weekend to get in. It also means you can't enjoy a leisurely coffee or lunch because other people are wanting your table! The water that's served is sparkling. There's no wifi.
It's a cafe for trendy hipster sorts rather than a cosy place to wind down.
B. J.
Awesome Food and great coffee. The place gets swamped though and is very busy. Congratulations too them and I am happy but I have to skip the place if i am in a hurry.
C. C.
Cronuts are a must try! Great coffee and great food! Have to try the slow cooked beef! Service was efficient but it was a little unfriendly. Either way that should not so you from going there!
J. M.
Takeaway rating: 10/10. Despite how busy it was, a staff member approached me straight away, took my order, and came over and handed it to me when it was ready. Polite efficient service, and the coffee was great.
L. “.
Not really a standout but very popular regardless. Service can be cold at times as can the coffee. Pros - cool industrial space with free fizzy water, cons - Luke warm coffee, long wait to both sit and table service. If your in the area and like these sorts of places, I’d recommend the Rising Sun Workshop just down the road a bit and opposite.
L. L.
Came in with high expectations and was left a little short... The tables were tiny and the food options were a little limited. That said, the free mineral water and the quality of food was awesome. Cronut burger most definitely hit the spot!
M. L.
Brewtown Newtown is definitely one of my favorite go-to brunch places. Their menu is hardly ever the same, changing with seasonal produce. The food can be a hit or a miss at times because you can never quite predict what the flavors of the dish will be. E.g. the pork shoulder pasta we had recently was quite 'gamey' but the beef brisket wasn't. Quite unusual! If you're there for pastry other than cronuts, you must try the almond croissant. It's one of the best ever. Flaky crisp crust with a delicious almond filling, topped with toasted almonds.
M. L.
Coffee was good, food was ok - the ham on the eggs benny had a lot of fat still attached. Hollandaise sauce was great. Service wasn't consistent with all staff.
J.
Slow service, incorrect orders delivered for our table and the table beside, stale brioche and coffee was good though.
J. S. (.
Great atmosphere, quality service and great decor. The actual coffee was a bit let down as well as both types of cronuts available here (stale and flavourless).
M. Ż.
Delicious almond croissant and nice coffee. Few options of single origins. Interior design creates nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend!
S. S.
One of the popular cafe in Newtown! I came around 11 and people were queuing. The atmosphere and ambiance was nice, very comfy and homey. You have to try the cronut, my fave is the chocolate! Will be back for more.
f. a.
The baked polenta is so yummy and their brulee cronut is to die for. I also really enjoyed the coffee.
I. B.
Love the interior and vibe, the coffee was great and great service by barista however other staff service was poor - forgot or mixed up my order and haven't even apologised or said anything at all or tried to be friendly after I patiently waited for that long. So I left with a bad experience overall unfortunately.
B. K.
Good coffee although slightly bitter on this occasion. Very nicely done eggs and I loved the tomato relish that came with it. Cronuts also not to be missed!
E. M. W.
Massive lines but well worth the wait. Breakfast and lunch menu are both really good, and you can get takeaway cronuts too. There's lot of free 2 hour parking on this side of Newtown as well :)
M. B.
It's ok. Coffee was luke warm and the portion size vs price doesnt stack up. But what was served up was delicious. Wouldnt be my first choice for a regular cafe spot.
S. B.
Great coffee and friendly service. Be warned it gets pretty busy during the weekend - look for the line of punters against the wall waiting for their take away. Still, coffee is well worth the wait!
R. H.
I had the glazed cronut and a coffee at Brewtown. I was greeted by a friendly staff member and she recommended I either have the glazed cronut or the cinnamon one (I should've got both!). The glazed cronut was a simple cronut however it was just the texture that was great. The flavour was nothing to be excited about but the softness of the cronut itself was something to be praised.
The coffee isn't too bad there either.
I would definitely go back to try all the other pastries which were on display!
B. L.
The brunch options here are never a disappointment - the burger is great if you're looking for something filling, but plenty of lighter options too! Leave room for a tasty brewnut too!
A. E.
Nice coffee, very popular so lively atmosphere and a little cramped, but the breakfast was delicious. Could do with a few more veg options but its inclusive enough.
F. E.
What a wonderful place to have lunch and coffee. Rustic look and great staff make you want to come back for more. Food is great. The chilli prawn linguine is a must try.
N. W.
I now understand the hype. The food was fantastic, I had the chicken salad, it was very fresh and the flavors were wonderful. Coffee is great and dare I mention the cruffins... heavenly!
A. Z. (.
We really liked it. Food was good, coffee was good. They also served both breakfast and lunch regardless of time. Definitely would recommend to brunch aficionados.
E. K.
Love this cafe, everything in it! One of the best cafe in Sydney. Their coffee, cronuts, food and their friendliness are surely making you keep wanting to come back there
D. L.
Generally excellent cafe with much better food and coffee than almost any other cafe in Newtown. Only faults are that food quality can be a little inconsistent (sometimes excellent, sometimes just good) and there is often a queue to get in
O. L.
They have changed their menu which is normal, but I love the previous one more. Also, the service was less friendly compared to my last visit. The girl who served us was a bit “I don’t want to be here” ish attitude
A. H.
Good customer service, bit pricey for the size portions of food you get. Not enough seating options for groups of 4. Coffee was ok, just wasn't hot enough. Luke warm at best.
C. S.
First time here. Love what they've done to the old book store.
Had the best brekkie in Newtown since I can remember! Smoked salmon, cous cous, kale and poached egg was delicious. Coffee is pretty great as well.
No doubt it gets packed in a weekend but hopefully this one will be around for a while yet. Well done guys for injecting some much needed quality into the Newtown cafe scene.
J. S. A.
The food's mostly good, but there's a lot of good options in Newtown. The staff tend to be frustrated, irritable and overworked. Excellent coffee, but frankly I'd get it take-away; at other cafés you are made to feel welcome, at Brewtown you're almost saying "Hey, could I get a large latte please? I'm sorry..."
A. B.
I decided to go to Brewtown Newtown after I read an amazing review about their coffee and cronuts on Good Food, SMH.
As I walked in I was greeted by a young man who invited me to take a seat. Which I did, however I wasn't seen by anyone for about 10 mins in which time I decided to get my own water (which I don't mind about!). One of the waiters realised I hadn't been seen so he quickly got me another water and a menu! The menu was a little bit pricy, but the food other people was eating looked great. I was thinking of a fresh juice but you can only have kale, apple and something or a OJ (I was looking to choose my own fruit) so I decided I would have a Ice Coffee as it was only $3.50 and a glazed cronut! It took another 10 mins for someone to take my order. I asked the waiter about how big the ice coffee was and she explained it was the size of a latte glass and it doesn't have ice-cream, cream or ice, it was just coffee and milk. Which confused me as to why you would call it a Ice Coffee and not at least put some ice in it. So I changed my mind and went for a Piccolo.
I also asked about the wireless internet for my computer so I could complete some of my uni work and she explained "It was not for public use". I was a little disappointed as most cafes these days have wifi for their customers to use especially as technology is growing like crazy and I believe they would benefit from having wifi as customers would stay a little longer and possibly buy another coffee or even a meal.
My coffee and cronut was delicious but overall it was a pity about the service, the no wifi and the 'small glass of milk and coffee'....an Ice Coffee? I feel a bit disappointed as it took me 20 minutes to walk there and 20 minutes back to uni and I had been waiting about a month to check this coffee house out!! If i'm in Newtown I may try it again but I won't be going to Newtown just for Brewtown Newtown.

Visited twice with wife
Liked Old brick wall and music and friendly staff
Cronut was good
B.
Really chic industrial look cafe with great tasting food, juices and coffees. I always take home some coffee beans and am trying them all. Very helpful and nice staff. Prices are great!
S. O.
Try the steampunk coffee - delicious! Also had very nice eggs benedicts. Thanks!
J. C.
Nice food attentive service and good coffee make it worth trying although if there was a Long Line more than five minutes I don't know if I would be bothered just a good place to come and sit down and get a fade in the mornings. Nice layout and I like the fit out
M. R.
Creative dishes, not the biggest serves but always tasty. Great cold brew. I go around 2pm on weekends to avoid the crowds and instagram brigade.

Pros:
Amazing coffee!
Delicious food!
Cons:
Small food portions - brioche 'eggs' only had one egg
Waitresses can be a lil' aloof.

Best cronuts in Sydney! Nicely crispy and light - have tried some others in Sydney that can feel a bit heavy and sickly after a while. Various flavours including chocolate and cinnamon - yum!
C. L.
Great place for brunch in Newtown. I had the Elvis burger and it might've been a bit too much as it is a cronut burger but totally worth the extra calories. Coffee here is great too and service was quick.
G. S.
Brewtown Newtown is a busy café down a side street off King Street. It is a beautiful space with a warehouse style, exposed brick thing going on. For a busy Saturday morning I was very impressed with the service as the friendly staff coped well with the morning rush.
C. D.
Not a bad place , but not great either. Food could do with some innovation. Pastries looked good. coffee was perfect. might be coming back just for the pastries
C. X.
Smoothest coffee I have ever had - breakfast was okay. I don't understand the point of the cronut, but I can respect that others might like it, and this gives you quite a central location to acquire one...
A. S.
Taste is good but a lot more pricier now. Brunch used to be around the $16 mark but now it's over $20. Pls bring back the cured trout salad! 🙏
H. T.
Great food and cronuts. Had the last one before it was sold out!
L. H.
Love this place! Great vibe, Food, Coffee, Staff! All round amazing place and looks great! 5 stars for me. A must visit when in town.
G. S.
Cronuts and coffee - if that what you're after this is the place. There's brunch and lunch options too but in a place like Newtown there are lots of other brunch places having similar fare, and possibly a wider range. It's the atmosphere and desserts of this place that makes it stand out.

I seem to only go to brewtown for one thing, the brewnuts !! They are seriously addictive and flying off the shelf, as we speak. I would highly recommend just getting the take away or if you have time to wait, some lunch as well. Would love to come back to try their menu, btw, coffee is also really good there !
C. L.
Brewtown coffee is widely considered to be a contender for the top coffee spots in the area, and it did not disappoint. The fruit muffin was one of the best I've had in a long time, as was the cronut, the star of many an Instagram photo. Brewtown's lunch menu is a solid offering as well, although I found the servings a little small.
Speaking of small, I've also found Brewtown's small takeaway coffees to be oddly tiny. This is a problem easily solved: go large instead.

My bf and I searched for the must visit cafe at newtown, and we ended up here. We ordered the beef hash and toad in the hole. Its a beautiful taste in the sunday morning. This is the reason it must be visited tho.
C. B.
Cronuts may just be the best discovery of my life to date!
Good coffee, with some awesome varietals; cold drip, filtered, and the usual stuff too.
Corned beef hash for breakfast hit the spot! Definitely Newtown's best!
M. T.
Impressive menu, even more impressive food! Loved the quality of every ingredient used. The desert selection was great too. I only wish they served alcohol as well...
J. D.
Donuts! Cronuts! Pastries! Cakes!
First class!

The coffee and the venue is good. The food was ok. That is about as much as I can say about it. There’s nothing to really complain about but don’t go expecting to be impressed.
H. P.
I went to Brewtown Newtown last Sunday.
The service was good, but I wasn't particularly impressed by the food. I tried the poached eggs on brioche, but I didn't think the ingredients combo was that special.
I don't think I will go there again.
L. V.
A popular place on the weekend, get there early or be willing to roam King Street and browse whilst they work through their list. As far as I know bookings cannot be made but at least they're cronuts are fresh (and flying out the door).
A. S.
Taste is good but a lot more pricier now. Brunch used to be around the $16 mark but now it's over $20. Pls bring back the cured trout salad! 🙏

Trendy steampunk coffee joint. The decor here is great except for the back wall which is just plain white and stands out against the brick and mortar finish which is consistent across the rest of the cafe. There is a bakery upstairs and the …

Busy place, an institution in Newtown. Had a good salmon salad and coffee but I'm not sure it lived up to the hype. Staff was fantastic.
L. R.
The cronuts are to die for. I got the salted caramel and the flavours sent my mind into meltdown. That's the only thing I've had here but it was incredible, definitely coming back!
E. Z.
Really top quality coffee and nice people! I don't get to Newtown much, but shall love to pop in next time!
L. L. N.
I've yet to have a mediocre or bad experience at Brewtown. Coffee is great, and food is delicious. The place gets busy, so depending on time you may have to wait for some spots to open up.
W.
My regular weekend go-to before the fire happened.
Can't wait to go back :)
L. P.
Awesome service and great food. Best breakfast burger ever and they offered us a free taste test of a new product. Such awesome guys
E. W.
Had most delicious toasted sandwich in a welcome cool not so little cafe off Kings st in Newtown, away from the crowded street, place to go again for coffee & catch up as well as a lunch saw nice tasty looking food being served x
a. t.
The croutons are overrated in my opinion. It was way too sweet + oily. The texture was very chewy...@@
I would recommend the zucchini and corn fritters!

Overall good experience. Coffee, food & service is nice. The breakfast burger & guacamole bagel was tasty. Almost always full so be prepared to wait.
S. A.
Go for breakfast, brunch or lunch. It's amazing. The service is outstanding, the staff super friendly. And thhe food is superb - whatever you order will be exquisite
A. O. T. M.
Food was yummy, menu was confusing and only really had a couple of 'breakfast' options. Guy at the counter was super pretentious and we couldn't split the bill. Cronut made up for it though.
F. S.
These cronuts!! Barely had something so amazing! Of course the coffee is awesome too - including the staff. One of the gayest places in Sydney. Love it.
P. E.
Great service from staff. Nice atmosphere and great menu selection. Food quality was good.
Only knew there was a gift shop after reading reviews here so be sure to check it out.

Lovely cafe in the heart of Newtown, great coffee, & friendly service, today we had some yummy donuts and pastreys..

I've only been the the Affogato Shack, but it was excellent, where else can you have an affogato with pistachio gelato? The funky expresso machine that the use to make your shot all adds to the experience. From memory, there is no where in the shack to sit, but we just ate our cronut and sipped out sweet coffees in nearby park.
D. V.
The host skipped our name on the waiting list and we waited a long time because of it. After enquiring he was rude and did not apologise. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was great.
E. R.
Unfortunately the service is a huge letdown. The staff aren't friendly and the waiters don't look after you. Otherwise good atmosphere and good, unique and interesting food. Compliments to the kitchen staff.
L. R.
The cronuts are to die for. I got the salted caramel and the flavours sent my mind into meltdown. That's the only thing I've had here but it was incredible, definitely coming back!
D. F.
Had a coffee, then haloumi pesto salad roll. Great food, great coffee and excellent service
L. B.
Great value for money especially for the smashed avo side. For $4.50 definitely got more than an avocados worth. With the choice between a mortgage on a house and this avo toast, id go avo over and over again.
K. M.
Love it here - nice coffees and brunch, the short rib beef is my fav. Upstairs is pretty cool to check out when you're waiting for a table
A. J.
Love brunches here but not a fan of waiting around. Always busy every weekend brunch time I've been. The cronuts are delicious.
D. H.
Love it here. Coffee is very nice, cronuts are awesome, friendly service & a very nice environment all round!! See you next Sunday 😁☕
T. H.
I only come here for ONE thing and that is their cronuts. Arguably the best in whole of Sydney. I have been coming here for years but one thing I noticed is their cronuts are getting smaller despite higher price! Lovely decor and friendly staff.
J. M.
Tip top. The mains, drinks, coffee and the cronuts were amazing. Great selection of vegetarian dishes. Food is fresh, coffee strong and cronuts sweet.
A.
Come here for coffee - IT IS AWESOME!
...and it’s in the name.
There’s a bakery upstairs, for a pastry snack... always busy, lots of seats, good standard
G. R.
Always a must do for us when we visit Newton. Great coffee and super tasty food. The brisket on the brunch menu being a highlight.
A. X.
Food is delicious lets get that right, atmosphere is great, love the vibe there. removed a star for the host that skipped us in the waiting list, and didn't appologise after the mistake.
i.
Canned salmon on an eggs Benny?... I'm being precious I know... But was pretty dry and sides are OP'd... Get rushed through on a Saturday morning too... Real Icarus of a breakfast place...
A. B.
Best coffee around and the dessert really taste good. The service is quite nice and I really enjoy my time here.
L. D.
Thankyou To my Beaty Sis Tan for Inviting Great Place!!
M. H.
The fritters were amaze. Great staff. Food & coffee just a bit lukewarm for my liking but I'd definitely go back
M. R.
Consistently good coffee and service in a nice large cool space. The food is interesting, but it's the coffee that really sets the place apart.
T. W.
If you are after a cup of good coffee, a plate of delicious food and some cronuts to round off the meal, then Brewtown is where you need to be. There are plenty choices on the menu, breakfast ranges from the usual suspects of eggs, muesli to grilled black sausage, beetroot cured ocean trout; while lunch covers burgers, linguine, salads and toasted sandwiches. You can also get cold brew coffee on draft here.
I ordered the baked polenta with mushroom, grilled asparagus, poached egg, parmesan, truffle oil and a side of shaved leg ham, and gosh it was good, soft, creamy polenta, juicy mushroom and fresh asparagus... Cronuts were up next, I think I prefer the cinnamon ones over glazed, but I'll hold off my judgement till I try the jam one, they were sold out by the time I went to order, you got to be quick when it comes to these croissant-doughnut hybrid goodies.

Gnome (Simon Triggs) and former manager of Single Origin Roasters, Charles Cameron, has recently opened a much larger establishment in Newtown called Brewtown. I absolutely love the space. They have transformed this former bookstore to one that is now brimming with Newtown life. The tall ceilings and ceiling fans will be great in summer. There is a certain comfort when one walk into this space.
There are no parts of this space. Upstairs is occupied by pop ups like home wares, Tokyo bikes, clothing and soon to be ready affogato bar using Cow & Moon gelato. Super jealous that Newtown is getting all this goodness!
K. H.
I love this place. It has great coffee, great sweets (cronuts 4 daiz) and delicious breakfast and lunch options. A personal favorite is the Elvis burger which uses a cronut for the bun
H. S.
Excellent food, and even better coffee. The line and wait times can be long, but it is worth it. The cronuts are recommended.
D. Z.
Very Good coffee excelent pastries. Beautiful Kies Spirit espresso machine which stands out in the sea of Marzoccos around Sydney.
J. C.
Initially intended to go here and get cronuts before they sold out, but ended up staying for lunch. The meatball sandwich is a must try. There were 4 varieties of cronuts to choose from - gives Zumbo a run for his money.
K. A. W.
Great venue, super relaxing and great service. Best iced coffee I’ve had. Food is yum too!
K. R.
Coffee ok
s. b.
Love this place, mostly because they cater to vegetarians and vegans well. Coffee is not my favourite, it’s too blonde in taste
T. D.
Finest vibe, with all the very best food and coffee in Newtown. This bakery was highly recommended and didn't disappoint!
M. C.
Best cold press brew I've tasted and my goodness you must try the almond croissant as it is delicious.
L. f. W.
Ah Brewtown. Only so many places you can go and feel inadequate for not quite being hipster enough. This is definitely one of them. Home of the cronut, this place packs a decent punch for your coffee outings.
B. ..
Everything's great here. coffee, food, staff, atmosphere. it just gets very busy on the weekends and waiting for a table is a pet hate of mine but ill be back
J. m.
Food was pretty as a picture- but disappointing to eat. Green bowl very bland , coffee not great.
ピ.
One of best cafe and cool.and relax atmosphere.food and coffee and doughnuts to die for!
B. B.
Great coffee and food every time! The atmosphere is amazing. Definitely a favourite coffee stop!
A. W.
Great coffee, lovely staff, best cronuts I've had in Australia. Food great, too. (Not a massive range of food.)
N. M.
Get in quick because the queues get long. Great food and coffee paired with amazing service. Don't forget to check out the shop upstairs and grab a cruffin or a cronut
L. h.
The food here is so fresh and so flavourful. They use slightly alternative ingredients but if you’re willing to give new things a go, you won’t be disappointed!
N.
Had an Alpha Dominche filter brew. Was it worth $15 vs a $5 V60? No way. But I did it anyway because it's looks awesome.
L. D.
Love it here.
Newtown staple.
Great coffee, great service, delicious food.
M. G.
Had eggs benny salmon, they changed the bread and put extra 1 egg on it, it was so good
Love it!! Recommended
M. P.
Love this place. Great coffee and great food
A.
Chilled and relaxed however staff need to be a little more attentive to patrons wishing to order. However the account came without asking if we wanted more, so we paid and left tocontinue elsewhere.
E. L.
Great food and great atmosphere. The only problem is they removed my favourite crab dish, it's hard for me to forgive them 😆
B. W.
Flavorful buttered bread with cheesy sauce.
V. (.
Amazing food as always, been busy since the whole New Town scene. Quality food and cronuts. A must try if you're in the area!
N. L.
Excellent place for coffee and delicious cronuts. Decent brunch options as well in an easily accessible part of Newtown.

Great coffee, amazing food, sometimes it can be a bit of a wait for a table but definitely worth it

N. M.
I openly wept at the chicken panini
W. T.
Loved the coffee and cronuts were good too. Breakfast options were average, but the coffee was pretty good.
H. O.
Cronuts and more cronuts. If you don't fancy cronuts, their breakfast options are superb. Try mixing up the black sausage with eggs and mushrooms.
I. P.
Excellent services &commutation nice good staff
Y. H.
Great coffee! They also do very interesting single origin brews so worth visiting multiple times!
E. Z.
Really top quality coffee and nice people! I don't get to Newtown much, but shall love to pop in next time!
A. W.
People seem to love it here, but on the day i didn't. It was OK, but found the food bland, coffee average. Cronuts are ace though.
B. H.
Great coffee, great pastries!
Service was also excellent and honest.
Always a great time visiting Brewtown.
H. M.
I love the ambiance here, it just attracts you the first thing! But... The service isn’t great as I hoped it would be. Average food. A bit pricey.
L. C.
Great coffee and Cronuts, it always gets busy so first in best dressed as the saying goes.
B. B.
Sweet local coffee hub, top service and great food. Yum
E. T.
Seating is a problem as it's popular. But if you go there, the daikon and eggs and spelt porridge are undersold on the menu... but are AMAZING!
海.
We went there for cronuts and they exceeded our expectations! Probably the best cronuts I've ever tried. Nice atmosphere too.
J. P.
Delicious food! Well presented, good service and reasonable prices. No bill splitting is a pain though.
A. B.
Great coffee, a smart, modern menu and nice Cronuts! Well worth a visit to Newtown.
J. O.
Good coffee, good cinnamon brewnut. Friendly service
W. K.
Cool atmosphere and nice food, but the place is overcrowded and service slow. Check out the funky gift shop upstairs while you wait for a table.
L. H.
Love these guys. Service is awesome, and donuts are legendary...good coffee too.
b.
Great coffee and service. Food selection different from the same old same old and the music finished the whole deal
T. C.
Healthy lovely food & the service was great. Can't wait to try that coffee next time :)

The food was amazing and added a fresh spin on some cafe favorites. Definitely a place I would hit up again.

P. E.
This place has great food and coffee. But it's super busy and you'll have to wait for a table.
