Was a busy time that I arrived, waited in the line for less than 5 mins, ordered and found a seat. Finding a seat was a little hard but I did consider it was a rush hour so no biggie. I have been on another occasion when it wasn't busy and finding a seat wasn't an issue at all. However the cost for 2 coffees was $10, a little pricey as an extra $1 for oat milk was a bit much. Overall loved the coffee!

Always a lot of people waiting for their coffee here.Not many seats, sometimes have to wait for a seat,that’s not friendly to a tired shopping girl,haha.The coffee are roasted on their own.I asked for a flat white. Pretty decent coffee. It is a hipster's paradise in the heart of the CBD. Their coffee is appreciated by coffee experts. No muck-about service which is efficient. They are very systematic. They accept cash and card with a $10 minimum and small surcharge. You can dine in as well or takeaway. Limited high bench seating in the Strand corridor. It does get crowded and you usually have to wait for your coffee. Hot chocolate is excellent too.

Bought a few Cold Brew's from here and have been really impressed. Their cold brew is the smoothest i've ever had with very little bitterness and it's always consistent in flavour. Only downside is the price for the quantity. Without the ice, it feels like there is just a single shot of cold brew in there. Wish there was a bit more :(

But if the next one bites I'm changing this review and rating completely. ORIGINAL REVIEW 2019: Hands down best coffee in the CBD. I was in two minds posting this as the lines are already long, but they deserve the pat on the back. I've been going for 3 years and have never had a bad coffee. Their beans rock too.

One of our weekend go to places for coffee beans and coffee, this place has a cult following for a good reason. Their coffee is good. Really good and consistently good. Very good coffee for Sydney, only offer one size (unless you BYO cup). Dairy and non dairy milk options. Also sell a range of coffee making equipment & beans (whole or ground) by Alchemy. The baked goods are really good but sell out FAST so get in early. Love that they’re open late. PS don’t expect an array of non coffee drinks, they‘re definitely for coffee lovers.

The coffee is good. Better than most in city. However, regular/small size only and expensive. But I think the price is justified by the quality of the coffee - the beans used are excellent. I just wish there was more in my cup. Also, service. Mediocre. Well meaning - just not well trained. Finally, there's always people itching to say "this is the best!" and "this is the worst!". Personally, I think because so many people come by, the machines are always hot, and there may not be time to clean old coffee in the machine that gets burnt. As such, the coffee almost always tastes a little burnt, sometimes more. I have bought their coffee and made it at home and it was much better.

I've been a regular for over 1.5 years, and just love the coffee here every morning. The people are super nice too and remember my name :) I get lattes with sugar as the coffee is very strong with excellent depth. It's a pity that they don't do any cookies/muffins for when I feel peckish but the coffee is worth it in and of itself that I go elsewhere for that. FYI the lines in the morning are very long and you can be waiting an easy 15 minutes for takeaway so I wouldn't come here in a rush. Nowadays, every other coffee I drink is benchmarked according to how it compares to my daily gumption fix.

The coffee is good but there's no large size and every time I come here I seem to experience a problem, like orders being wrong, or last time my colleague didn't receive his coffee at all, maybe it's not indicative overall but I keep coming back thinking I've just been unlucky and I keep experiencing problems. I will give 5 stars cause they made me happy with their medium roast blend and fast service. I am addicted to coffee and usually buy the beans and make my own. Well, in Sydney majority of coffee shops are using dark roast arabica beans and sadly I don’t really enjoy that bitterness. Biggest issue I have is the long wait time and staff that appear to be well overworked. Ita inside The Strand Arcade which is opposite to the apple store on George Street. 30 seconds walk inside the arcade from George Street and it would be on your right. You have enough place to sit outside and they can serve you there as well.

My favourite coffee in all in Sydney was a bit of a trek out to Marickville, but now the goodness of Alchemy is available in the form of Gumption in The Strand. It's coffee only but the attention to detail in constructing each cup is remarkable. The biggest line in The Strand can usually be found outside for Gumption and for good reason as it's hard to beat the quality of milk based and filter coffees.

If you're willing the brave the line, this cafe in the beautiful Strand building in the heart of the city is definitely worth visiting. Using beans from the legendary Coffee Alchemy roasters based in Marrickville, the coffee here packs a punch like a peppery mule. What else is there to say? If you decide to dine in, you can sit down at one of their tables that are located outside the stall and you can watch people walk through the strand. Beautiful coffee at a beautiful location - we truly are spoilt for choice here in Sydney when it comes to coffee.

Working in Sydney CBD means plenty of coffee shops, meaning you will get bad ones! But Gumption is a surefire coffee place for coffee lovers. It is the brother (sister?) of Coffee Alchemy Marrickville (if you haven't been, you are missing out in life). So if you are not in a coffee hunting mood and just want a good coffee, you can never go wrong with Gumption!

In the city I often run into the dilemma of which cafe to go to next. What will be open? What is close? What is worth the walk? At least a few times a week the answer to these questions tends to be followed with a visit to Gumption. This is yet another cafe that I can simply walk into an be served whatever the baristas think is "delicious coffee", and most times, it is actually delicious! One thing to know about Coffee Alchemy coffee is that much of it tends to be a little darker than your average roast. As such, always be sure to let it cool down a bit to allow the fruits and other characteristics to appear. You'll thank me if you do. Passion: 10/10 Crema: 9/10 Coffee: Coffee Alchemy

Gump. = good coffee, -- their standard flat white is a double ristretto extraction,-- at $3.50 (t/a) quite reasonable considering its the Strand and that nearby ViVo on George/King st. charges nearly $5 for Vittoria..but like 95% of '"flat whites" served in Sydney CBD , Gumptions also border on being more like a latte.....overall, I will mostly continue to drink CAMPOS.
