Café by day, Indian restaurant by night
As a café it's as good as you'd wish for on the road. Decent coffee, excellent hamburgers and toasties
And a big, welcoming smile from the staff
(Some day, maybe, we'll get a chance to try the restaurant)
T.
Great country town cafe. Try the Naked wagyu beef burger with spicy chutney. All burgers available naked, half naked or traditionally with top and bottom buns. Meridian also stock Milk Lab Almond milk and the Vittoria coffee is always great.

Has long been my favourite place to pitstop between Sydney and Canberra - staff go out of their way for their customers, really enjoyed my gluten free toastie today!
C. A.
Great cafe to stop off for a bite between Canberra & Sydney! Food hits the spot and the staff are incredibly friendly! Will be back!

Due to the massive bushfire that went through NSW on the summer of 2020, Murulan and surrounds got affected. My partner and I decided that one of the ways we can help the community is to visit and support local shops.
THE PLACE - We found that Meridian Cafe was a Nice cozy place to have a short pit stop before exploring other areas.
The wall is covered majority with dog photos, an occasional cat, rat (or rabbit) and a lizard (iguana ?). I think it's for fundraising. It is quite cute!
THE FOOD & DRINK - we had the blackboard specials on the day and it was delish! The ice coffee was nice as well. Yes, we will revisit this place again in the future.
FOR FUTURE VISITORS - Ditch the roadside services or McDonalds or KFC or Hungry Jacks. Go off the main highway, and sometimes you'll be really surprised what you will find.

Great morning tea. Homemade gluten free cake and coffee.
Coeliac safe with staff being aware of cross contamination .Will definately be back!!!

When you are in Marulan, get off the highway. It's a no brainer. Not only does one get rewarded by Meridian Cafe's wonderful and sumptuous fare, but one also gets to witness a charming little town with lovely people.
My family and I visited here on our way to Canberra on a frigid morning. The coffee was excellent, brekkie was fresh, wholesome and delicious. The bacon and egg roll is a real winner. Generous portions with freshly made turkish bread. We stopped by here on our way back from Canberra as well.
T. T.
Lovely cafe with good coffee & food. About half way between Sydney & Canberra. Lots of photos of dogs on all the walls.
I. C.
Good variety all day menu. Yummy coffee friendly service.
M. K.
I was a little early on my drive to Canberra, and they opened up early for me and made me a coffee. Great service and much appreciated.
M.
Quick service. Very good food and plenty of choices. Excellent coffee and fantastic tasty chutney made on premises. Reasonable prices. Wonderful gallery of photos of dogs for a charity. Well worth a visit when travelling on highway. Clean cafe and restrooms.

I really enjoy breakfasts at this cafe. I usually stop in on my way from Sydney to Canberra and it's a great way to break the drive. This is not the place to order and have your plate arrive five or ten minutes later. There is a wait but it reassures me that everything is being cooked fresh and not just reheated. Usually I will allocate 45mins to stop here. They prepare a great country breakfast with perfectly scrambled, creamy eggs, excellent crispy bacon and mushrooms with balsamic (? or some secret ingredient!) and herbs. Saying all that, nothing beats the delicious sourdough bread! Unfortunately, they usually don't have any loaves available for sale by the time we get there but for our last trip a couple of weeks ago, we called ahead and the lovely manager kindly baked fresh sourdough loaves for my friend and myself. They had pretty much just come out of the oven when we arrived so that they had to be wrapped in paper when handed to us, they were still warm. The crust isn't too crusty and the bread is dense and chewy but not difficult to eat and lasted me a week as I worked through the loaf. I think I'll be ordering two loaves next time! Thank you Meridian team :)
K. D.
Good coffee, nice toasty, and especially delicious scrambled eggs! Really friendly service too. I loved the dog photos all over the walls.
O. K.
Ditch the roadside service stations and visit this cracking little Cafe. The cakes we had where delicious and the coffee was excellent. Topped off by the lovely ladies behind the counter.
S. B.
Awesome stop on way from Sydney to Canberra. Great coffee and the best bacon and eggs rolls with homemade chutney! A fab park for small kids opposite if they need a run around
Y. P.
Stopped at this cafe driving back from Wagga Wagga and it turned out to be the right decision. Did not wish to stop at a fast food joint and wanted to have a coffee. The wall is covered with photos of animals and some are with their owners. Nice coffee and beautiful setting
A. W.
Lovely staff, GF & DF cake options, good alternative milk selections for coffee and delicious menu options. And clean loos. I’ve found my new pit stop heading north on the Hume.
C. B.
Solid country cafe. Light meals cakes and coffee and teas. Dog photos on the walls are interesting. Marulan is an easier stop on a road trip than other centres in the area.
C. H.
We pulled in due to Hume Highway closure and were welcomed with warmth and a warm yummy gourmet sausage roll - the kind stuffed with real meat and flavours not an unidentifiable grey paste. And that despite the kitchen being closed.
We stayed to chat and take in the many lovely photos on the walls.
What a great place! We'll make sure to stop again another time.
P. G.
Best bacon n egg I've had. Friendly staff.
C. F.
We often stop here and usually love it.... because it is quiet, local and off the highway. Best sausage rolls and breakfast !!
Last visit wasn’t so good, 2 cold coffees and microwaved scones that tasted like rubber 😕 wasn’t the usual staff so hopefully that was the issue..... will give it one more try
I. A.
Always have a great coffee and the fruit toast is superb. Love coming here on our journeys south. Very cosy and quaint.
V. L.
Made to feel very welcome. Relaxed atmosphere. Truly delicious food with amazing flavours. Also cater for GF & V. Definitely eat here again when I'm down this way. Excellent coffee & service. Thank you.
G. M.
Back again. Too long between visits. Excellent food, very good coffee & good environment. Friendly prompt service. Great GF & Vegan choices amongst a menu of excellent variety. One of the best across our great state - NSW.
M. C.
Stopped for a coffee after seeing a sign on the road about it being award winning. Was a really nice stop off and we were pleasantly surprised by the wall to wall pictures of cute cats and dogs. Friendly service too. Well worth a stop off as it's just a short drive from the highway.
L. B.
Good coffee and meals. Engaging pictures of mostly dogs on the walls to find raise. A beautiful little town - take the time to leave the highway, avoid the service centre with the fast food, and the truck stop. This cafe is welcoming, nice and quiet, with a relaxed atmosphere.
A. M.
Worth the effort involved to get off the freeway
Plenty of seating and lots of options
Bit in the pricy side of you are a family but worth it.
The coffee was good and the spicy sausage rolls were tasty and filling
Interesting photos of dogs on wall
P. M.
The Meridian is an awesome café. Lovely atmosphere, child friendly, welcoming and attentive hosts. Providing a satisfying variety of light meals with an extensive range of gluten free options. Very good value and a most enjoyable visit. Well worth dropping into Marulan just for lunch or coffee and cake. We'll certainly be back.
S. G.
Sweet little cafe in a quiet off-Motorway townlet. Smiling service and just-right coffee and pastry, with a table in the morning sun to enjoy it. Can't get much better than that.
Inside, there's an amusing mural of the township and its characters, and many, many portraits of handsome dogs (the canine type). The premises used to be a highway garage, and there are a few intriguing photos of its motoring days.
Recommended.
A. T.
Great stop for animal friends! Cute cafe with a tasty bite to eat and convenient stop off the highway for travellers. Walls are covered with photos of cats and dogs which is adorable! even better, you can make a donation to a charity to get your pets photo on the wall too :)
G. B.
Great little cafe, very popular. Had a delicious chicken curry. Do yourself a flavour favour, get off the highway and support the locals, not the big food chains
T. &. S. H.
Wonderful food, great coffee, impeccable service and hospitality. These ladies go out of their way to make your visit pleasurable. We four mature ladies had a wonderful time. It is certainly worth the very short diversion from the highway whether you are travelling north or south.
I. M.
Outstanding visit again. We deliberately avoid Goulburn Bakery and head to Meridian on the days they are open if we are travelling to Sydney. Great coffee and superb ham and cheese toasty on Turkish bread. Need to go back to test the quality again. Always happy after a stop at Meridian. Check it out, Thurs - Mon.
B. N.
Good lunch stop only a minute or 2 off the Hume Highway. Good food, good coffee and good service. We will come again.
H. B.
Nice experience, delicious soup, good coffee, friendly staff.
T. M.
What a wonderful peaceful place with lovely staff and delicious home cooked food.
Yesterday we had the leek soup - tasty and at just $10 with a fresh bun great value. It is our 3rd visit, always excellent, and the perfect distance for lunch returning to Sydney from the ski fields.
It is as close to the highway as the disgusting, crowded and ugly giant servos selling American junkfood - just buy your petrol there and then drive a coujple of hundred metres into the beautiful historic village. Then just drive ahead and you are quickly back on the Freeway.
Note: don't go to South Marulan! It is Marulan.
S. Q.
Fantastic place to stop over. Especially with your dog. Dogs are most welcome. Make sure you have a coffee and scones. Yum O! Hit the spot. 😁
T. H.
Amazing food. Delicious and good quality like home cooked. Good coffee and very nice service. Next time travelling will stop here again instead of the big merino pies.
J. L.
Always good food and coffee. Old school store interior with tables or lots of shaded space to sit front or back.
J. A. D.
What a refreshing and relaxing watering hole between Sydney and Canberra. Lovely people, extensive display of dog (and occasional cat) photos with hanging fee going to charity. They even have a loyalty scheme keeping the card on the counter so it's always there.
p. k.
1st stop on the road back to Melbourne for a timely& tasty lunch. Highly recommend the wagu beef burger!
Z. O.
We were travelling from Sydney to Canberra and decided to do some side trips - how lucky were we, this is the best little cafe we have ever come across, food and service are first class, their dog photos are great, the money from theses goes to charity and last but not least the fruit bread is extra extra good. Wish they were closer to home.
M. S.
Amazing food, super friendly staff made us feel very welcome. 100% recommend to those who are driving past. Great service, and helps support a local business.
A. C.
I'm always impressed by the quality of food and service at the Meridian Cafe. It's a lovely place to sit and have a good meal and a chat. I'm a local, but I would suggest that if you're travelling along the Sydney - Canberra corridor, it's worth the (very short) detour, and I recommend it as a place to break your journey.
I'm a breakfast person, and I invariably have Alison's Eggs Benedict, which is excellent, but since I always choose that, I can't tell you how anything else is. For lunch, I like having one of the specials; the pastas are delicious. Our family's current favourite is the lamb burger, which is hard to beat. At $17 it is not cheap, but not out of the ordinary for a good restaurant, either.
You can also do some browsing of art and antiques. These range from local artists to major Australian names. An antiques showroom is coming soon.
All in all, a terrific place for a quality meal and relaxation.
G. P.
Serves coffee, friendly ladies behind the counter. A surprising number of framed dog photos as their gimmick on the walls.
A. P.
Love this place! Great food and super friendly service!! Take my dog here from time to time and they have water bowls out the front ready to go and come out and give him a treat (which he loves!!!)
All of the food is great but a special mention for the Haloumi and Ratatoulie...delish!!!
A. F.
Always friendly service. Yummy freshly cooked scones. Warm welcoming atmosphere. Our new stop off point to and from Canberra.
J. B.
Definitely worth leaving the highway for... Excellent coffee, great bacon and egg roll, and perfect poached eggs. Friendly staff and quirky atmosphere. Great experience. #coffeeworththedetour
G. W.
Place was ok.
Limited range of cakes for a coffee and cake shop. Ordinary Anzac bikky (how do you get that wrong?) & choc brownie not much better. Only open late in the week.
P. E.
A welcoming venue, with good food and coffee, comfortable inside and outside. Dog friendly, with many pictures of loved dogs.
S. P.
Enjoyed our dinner very much. Thank you
S. M.
Stopped for a quick light lunch. Very tasty corn and zucchini fritters and a very fresh salad with refreshing lemon ice tea. The ham, swiss and basil toastie my daughter shared was also yummy. Pet photos on the wall are quirky and fun.
V. Y.
Nice cafe just off the highway. Very hearty scone and tea. Will try their lunch items next time.
n. N.
Plenty of street parking, loved our brekkie, coffee good, service great. Walls covered with pictures of Dogs, novel idea. Enjoyed a walk around the little village after.
B. P.
The food was great there...
If you buy a drink that comes from a can check the expiration date.
Mine felt off and soft, then I realised the can expired April 2018 😓
M. L.
The food is great, but i was most impressed by the walls covered by hundreds of photos of pet dogs - you can look through them for hours. So many stories!
T. P.
Love going here on the way to Canberra. The dog pictures are a great talking point after a long drive and the staff and scones are lovely
D. S.
Better than fast food. Friendly service, relaxed. Photos of dogs, cats and even a (pet?) cow on the walls.
Heading south, take the Marulan exit, before the services exit.
L. M.
Oooh the walls are covered with doggies and the hot chocolate is so yummy!
B. R.
A cafe with both a cosy corner and general seating area. Good food and coffee. Nice touch with the free Easter eggs. Reasonable priced.
R. S.

N. M.
Have eaten here the last couple of days. Great coffee, bacon and egg rolls and fruit bread.
N. A.
Wonderful experience, sitting here with the owners, like we are old friends. Coffee is excellent
V. D. S.
Friendly. Perfect place to stop for a top up either way. Yummy food. Love the dog and cat pictures. A bit pricey....
M. M. (. F.
A shining light for Marulan. 5/5 for menu. 5/5 for food, much of it made in house. 3/5 for coffee (Vittoria is pretty crumby). 1/5 for serving town drinking water. 1/5 for toilets. 2/5 for access for wheel chairs and prams (there was a table blocking).
C. N.
Very tasty coffee and a good spot to pull over for a break.
Update. 13/10/17. Also have excellent milkshakes.
P. S.
Nice food but Anzac cookie is delicious so good.
J. H.

after a coffee in a lovely cafe as you are driving the Hume? this is worth the stop. no more effort to stop here than pulling into one of those horrible fast food conglomerates.
K. W.
Love our local. Fruit bread is a standout and the handmade chutney is excellent as well. Bravo!
