Comments of North Sandwiches Cafe

Sandwiches here are quite generous in size and made with decent ingredients. What’s more, their price is very affordable. Good choice for work lunch. Unfortunately, they do not open at weekend.
Roasted veggie sandwich is remarkable. I’m not even a vegetarian. But I just love it.
Hot bird (spicy chicken sandwich) didn’t impress me though.
You can’t expect everything to be wonderful on a menu. There are always some ordinary ones.

The sandwiches get their due appreciation here, but I don't think the salad bowls get enough attention.
For an extra $2 you can turn any sandwich into a quinoa/kale salad that is seriously better than any salad options in the area. This one has grilled chicken, kale, quinoa, sweet potato, carrot, spring onion, walnuts - downside is they're not really a salad bar so you can't pick or choose ingredients, but I still go through several of these a week.

Nothing fancy about this joint, just the best sandwiches i've ever eaten bar none! Order ahead to save waiting(Ph.9251-6111)

BEST! Affordable but always so fresh and never stingy with the ingredients. Sandwiches and wraps are always packed full. Friendly, accommodating staff and incredible food. This place is the best sandwich and wraps place in Sydney! They also just released meat and salad bowls which are incredible for the price and so delicious, way better than any restaurant I've tried.

Ladies and Gentlemen! This is the lunch spot for you hungry and hardworking people. Good quality sandwiches with fresh bread, packed with hella ingredients wrapped in alfoil and served with a smile,
It’s definitely good value for money but the wait can be awhile the line goes out the freaking door (not a bad sign right). Get in early and pepper your Angus :)

Ordered online, accidentally went to the wrong location but the service here was amazing, they made the sandwich for me in under 5 minutes!!! Thank you Kent st location - your sandwiches are scrumptious and your service is excellent! If you want the most perfect and efficient sandwich in the city with 5 star service please go here!!!

Super good.. I walked past this place by accident at lunch time and a super fast moving queue of people and wondered what the heck was going on?
I came back the next day and tried the Portuguese chicken wrap.. wow! Spicy and it doesn't let you down from a heat level! Chicken was moist, fresh and the veges were crisp and worked well to mild the effects of the real Peri Peri!
J. H.
Best sandwiches in the Sydney CBD and possibly the world! The bread and fillings are top quality and they're actually big enough to make a whole meal. They're also very reasonably priced which is why the queue can get pretty long at peak times. They make the sandwiches very quickly though.
P. W.
its difficult to get a freshly made sandwich but this place delivers the goods! great fillings and bread options. the olive bread is lovely! I've only been to the kent street location but have recommended this place to my colleagues as a great lunch option in the cbd.
F. h.
Best sandwich bar in the city. Get there early to avoid the queues and try their sweet and sour pork sandwich. You won't be disappointed.
E. H.
The BEST sandwiches that I have had in Australia. As other reviews mentioned, there is typically a long line from 11:30am onwards, but the staff is very quick and the sandwiches are exceptional.
G. D.
Great sandwiches at reasonable prices. Doesn't really matter what you pick off the huge menu, it all seems to be great. Only downsides are the huge queue and occasionally having to wait for something to get cooked up if they run out. But all in all a really great place to get a decently sized sandwich
S. F.
After 20 years eating here it's still one of the best feeds in town. Go early as they run out of bread on a daily basis, and the queue is big from 11:30 onwards. So good.
J. C.
Good price and good food. Always a line up outside. I actually went to the burger shop next door which is run by the same people called Norths burgers and that was really good, I got the Smokehouse burger. I've had a lot of burgers and the mix of ingredients is really well balanced. Left me feeling really satisfied. The sandwiches are enormous, usually served on really large bread, a little too much for me.
S. P.
By far the best and fresh sandwiches you could lay your hands in Sydney CBD. The ingredients are fresh, bread is yummy and soft, portion sizes are humongous and the sauce is creamy as well. Just remember to online order and pick it up later on otherwise you would be stuck in queues. But again this place is worth the wait :) My friend ordered the beef burger but it did not have cheese in it. He was a bit disappointed but the taste was yummy.
P. G.
Despite the long line, it’s a great place. Large, fresh sandwiches, good variety of options. Unfortunately no more smoked salmon... and watch out for the credit card surcharge... bit steep
J. J.
This is one of those amazing sandwich shops that the locals know about. You can buy one massive sandwich which can feed two people with ease. I suggest if you don't want to wait in the line you call and pre-order say 20-30 minutes before you eat. Just pick up and away you go. I usually get the cajun chicken or the schnitzel. You cannot beat it for taste and value for money. The sandwiches are about $7.50 - $8.50 from memory and are always prepared with love and care. You can't go wrong.
N. G.
Outstanding sandwiches. This place is a hidden gem. The portuguese chicken hits all the right spicy levels for me. It gets busy which is no surprise but I've never waited longer than 5 minutes. This is how you do value for money but high quality sandwiches for a discerning cbd crowd.
J. D.
Found out about this place from a colleague. The lines are pretty long to get served here but it's totally worth the wait. They have some of the best burgers I've ever tasted. Juicy meat, overflowing with cheese and the sauce they use is out of this world. 5/5 definitely recommend.
D. S.
Best god damn sandwiches in town. Everything is freshly made on the day. You can tell because they run out just as the lunch day is ending (2pm-ish). BBQ pork is 12/10. The owner is one of the nicest people you could meet! Been going here for 7-8 years and I stopped working in the city 6 years ago.
J. Z.
North sandwiches on one side and north burgers to its left. Used to work in the building next door and would get lunch from here at least 3 days a week! The wraps from the burger place are huge and fill you up for about $10, while the burger side is even better! Always a line but these guys could have worked in a factory in their past life, moves along quick!
R. B.
The place to come for a gourmet, freshly made sandwich. Serving sizes are very reasonable and there's a great selection. Word of warning, queues can be long, so peak lunch periods may see a slower service. But the food is worth the wait. No on premises seating.
M. N.
Fresh Veges and meat and fresh bread. Recommend!
B. R.
Been coming here for over 20 years and it's still the best sandwich place in Sydney CBD.
Famous for the doorstopper sized sandwiches, Norths has a simple menu but it's all done well. Highlight for me is the Portuguese Chicken on Dark Rye which packs a good lunch thanks to a homemade sambal.
C. T.
Delicious, fresh and gigantic sandwiches are found at North Sandwiches. They have several different options for tasty meats, from cajun chicken to BBQ pork on special days. I especially love their bread, light, fluffy and a proper baked roll, not bread from a bag. The regular size is substantial - bring a hearty appetite! But if you want a smaller option, go for the wraps. Still tasty but not as filling. About the only knock I have against North is the queues can get long. They move fast, but it's definitely a sign of a good sandwich when people queue a few minutes to order one!
M. H.
Good value for money and the fried chicken is really yummy.
S. P.
Boy, do these guys know how to sandwich. I mean, these bad boys are proper, filling, honest-to-goodness, behemoths. There’s more to North’s than just the size, however. The ingredients are always fresh, and they offer a very good selection on their menu. Chipotle Chicken is a favourite of mine, but honestly you’ll be best off rotating between a few, as there are several worth trying. The bread is practically famous, offering a lovely, wide variety to suit all tastes. Safe to say, I’m a huge fan. Whether it’s a sanga on the go, one for the office, or a whole catering requirement, I simply cannot recommend these guys any more passionately. They’ve been around forever, and their quality never drops, and they still get lines out the door. Surely that says more than any words I can put together here.
T. K.
As far as take-away sandwiches in the CBD goes, this place is off the chart! Our team does a weekly sandwich run here on a Tuesday. Huge portions, super fresh / soft bread.
Service is quick for any of the standard menu (grilled chicken, lamb etc) for the newer made to order sandwiches such as the salted beef, schnitzel or cheesesteak - the wait can be upward of 10 mins..
The lines can get long, so I recommend getting there just before midday.
If you want a sandwich as big as your head, go here.
L.
There's always a huge lineup here compared to the Brooklyn sandwich shop right across from it. I honestly like the Brooklyn one better and the prices are pretty much the same. I'm not sure what the hype is. Been is here 3 times now, I'll only go here now if the lineup is shorter than the Brooklyn one which is maybe 1 in every 5 times. If you do want to go here, try to go after 1pm or before 1130am to avoid the massive queue.
A.
Generous with the fillings, fresh chicken, soft bread, tasty aioli and sauce. Served quickly and friendly service!
P. C.
Awesome door stopper sandwiches so big that you could have the one sandwich for both lunch and dinner. The fillings are incredibly tasty which means you get a long line out the door at lunchtimes. Arrive early!
S. D.
Delicious cheap giant sandwiches. There's always a queue here until they sell out usually about 2pm. Despite the queue, it moves quickly and prep takes no time at all. Biggest issue is that there's nowhere to sit much nearby.
B. C.
Delicious variety of sandwiches (& burgers next door). Very popular so be prepared to que, especially at Friday at lunchtime. There isn't much room in the little arcade that it is located in & there is nowhere to sit but it is worth the wait!
M. P.
The Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich was amazing. Perfectly fried spicy chicken, softest bread I've ever eaten, connived with the pickles, lettuce and American cheese, seriously one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.
B. S.
Best hole in the wall sandwich shop in the city! The marinated chicken is succulent and tasty, and the greens are fresh and a great sele tin of breads. Highly recommended
J. F.
*Not only does North Sandwiches make an awesome sandwich, they make a brilliant burger too!*
Finding a burger joint with a "burger with the lot" is not that hard these days. The delicious mix of beetroot, egg, and bacon added to a standard burger is one I'd eat daily (if my diet allowed). But finding somewhere that also let's you choose the type of bread, and then has both chipolte and habenero sauces available to spice up said burger is worth much more than the $10 it cost.
Not only was the burger delicious, it was juicy and fresh. The egg could have been a little runnier, but other than that, I find it hard to fault. Now the only issue is deciding whether to have a delicious big arse sandwich, or stunning burger. You win either way.
A. A.
North sandwiches/Burger are one of the best take away food, if you are fond of eating really spicy food. It has sandwich with good amount of filling and they use fresh bread. I love Portuguese chicken sandwich !
K. O.
Dont be put off by the queues. They rattle out the orders really quickly. Get in quick for the Chicken Schnitzel, they run out of that before anything else. Also look at the burgers next door. Same management. Same high quality.
A. L.
Awesome value. Fresh bread. Great service every time. Beat sandwich shop in Sydney. There is always a long queue during lunch time.
S. B.
Great sandwiches, I enjoy the hot and blue and the Portuguese chicken. Line always out the door. Love getting it on mealpal. Wish I could pick a different bread when I was ordering with mealpal though.
J. W.
Huge huge sandwiches, bring your appetite and you wont be disappointed. you may want to eat half for lunch and save the other half for the afternoon. just be care with the extras because they can make you sandwhich cost a bit more than you expect but still worth it
A. C.
Burgers from the bar next door are always exemplary. Same owners. Different offerings. You WILL be impressed.
A. L.
Was ok. Said they would toast it. They Didn't. Different pricing from the sign out front to the sign inside. Sort of just fell apart as I ate it.
I. C.
Their bread makes this one of the best sandwich places in the city! Always a queue at lunchtime but worth the wait
J. C.
My go to place for a sandwich at lunch. The firebird is my favourate. The que can be quite long at peak hour, I would call up to order first to avoid the que.
A. R.
Best sandwich in Sydney CBD hands down! Get there at 12pm to avoid queues, even if you do have to wait, its worth it :)
E. H.
Best sandwich in Sydney. Soooo good. Queue is out onto the street it's so good so get there early!
M. R.

J. (.

J. B.
Amazing sandwiches. Good value for money. Very popular, so big queues
A. M.
A lunchtime favourite. Big vienna bread sandwiches made to order. Queues regularly form out the door between 12:30-1.
M. T.
Daniel Son is spot on. I too no longer work in the CBD but still make the effort to grab a sandwich when I can. Worth every dollar.
B.
These guys make the best sandwiches! I love their "hot and blue" - yum!
T. D.
There is also North Burgers next door which does amazing burgers! Definitely worth going! Takeaway and cash only though
G. H.
The burgers are very tasty, but the preparation takes forever even outside of the busy hours.
S. B.
A friendly and efficient staff that produce an out of this world sandwich or wrap. 10/10 would recommend
J. Q.
Worth the hype and the long queue
R. S.
