Fantastic fresh and tasty seafood. We had the calamari, local flathead and a few other fish varieties and it was all cooked perfectly. And on a super busy Sunday with a packed restaurant all service was done with a smile.

When we're on the South Coast we usually visit Pelican Rocks. The seafood is always beautifully presented, tastes fresh and the portions are massive. The ambience is bustling and friendly - you'll find patrons in board shorts next to more dressed up folk, all happily coexisting. The quality coffee was a nice surprise too. Pelican Rocks will continue to be a staple for my family!

Best seafood ever. We had the fisherman’s basket for 2 (hot and cold seafood, barbecued fish and prawns) and friends had fish and chips & scallop and prawn skewers. Staff are super friendly and great service. All tables were full, but very efficient. We’ll be back soon. 👍

I checked review before we went there. As good as review said. The food and coffee were excellent. They were so busy and we nearly got no table if one min late. Their steak burger is using real beef steak, and tender, but taste needs to improve, because they use the sauce from shop, not chef made.

My friends and I had a great day off today. This cafe has two zones both indoor and outdoor. We chose to sit in the lovely decorated garden. There is a beautiful corner that we can take photos and have a very delicious dessert. I was really impressed with the waffles with mix berries, and the caramel cheese cake was great too. We will surely return. Next time I will try seafood.

Can not fault this little gem, we travelled 2.5hrs to try the award winning fish and chips and it was worth the drive. The customer service was exceptional as was the food. We ordered a seafood basket and calamari fish & pack, we took it across the road where is are lots of seating options and an amazing playground. The food was cooked to perfection! The batter on the dish was light and delicious, the calamari was really good too! Everything was so fresh! Well done and keep up the fabulous flavoursome food you’re making. Excellent food and meal sizes. Pelican Rocks has been here for ages and continues to deliver. The restaurant is modern, stylish and complements the excellent food, which is fresh from the ocean and cooked to perfection. The prices were very reasonable, unlike other fish and chip shops in the area which charge an arm and a leg for poor quality food. Definitely the best fish and chips in Australia.

Really is the best fish and chips. Without a fail, we've visited everytime we have come back from Melbourne to visit family and friends, at least once or twice a year. The leather jacket and calamari rings remains our favourite, but you really can't go wrong. We suggest you call ahead otherwise expect 45mins wait time on average.

Greenwell Point is a sleepy little fishing locale just past Nowra. It hasn’t changed much since I was a kid catching flathead off the wharf. Duelling fish’n’chippies both shout “best”, but local knowledge has me heading straight to Pelican Rocks Cafe, the NSW winner of best fish’n’chips for three years running. The greeting here is warm and friendly. It pays to book a table, as most are reserved even on the Monday lunchtime I visited. The covered verandah isn’t fancy, but has a homely coastal feel with fishing nets and buoys, and other suitably fishy decor. With beaks probably bigger than our bellies, we hit up the double seafood basket ($45). Arriving double quick, it’s a well-presented cornucopia of salads, chips and the bounty of the sea. Generous fillets of locally caught blue grenadier are moist and flake beautifully under a house-made honey-teriyaki glaze. They sit on long, hand-cut chips that are oil-free and compelling. Huge loops of crumbed calamari are tender and pleasurable to eat in one of the trio of sauces. As the local prawns are tiny, the team here have opted for Crystal Bay prawns served two-ways. They’re good lightly barbequed but even better when peeled with a slurp of seafood sauce. Their flesh is firm, and their flavour delicate rather than salty. While the platter came with some oysters, we opt to add on a half dozen ($15) more (see earlier comment about greed). Shucked up the road at Jim Wild's Oysters, they arrive not dripping in liquor but also far from dry—proximity to shucking still being king. Their flavour is rich and vegetal without the metallic edge many Sydney rock oysters have. They’re so well-balanced, a couple of drops of lemon to lubricate their passage is all they really need. This is a good, honest lunch spot where you can kick off your South Coast driving adventure.

Very popular and busy place. If you’re coming around 12-2pm on a weekend or peak period, best to make a reservation to get a table. We had to get takeaway and waited 40 mins for our food. Got their famous seafood basket for $22. It’s the perfect size for one hungry person, but probably won’t satisfy 2 people. Seafood is fresh and there’s lots of variety. Grilled fish has some honey soy dressing. The tartare sauce is really good. Diamond cut chips are crispy. 5 stars. We came back for breakfast and demoted the rating to 4 stars. Large cappuccino had a high milk to coffee ratio. Eggs were cooked well. Bacon was too salty. For $3 you get only 1 tiny sausage (cut in half).

If you are after a crispy, fresh meal of fish and chips, think of Greenwell Point. You have crispy fish with a thin crust of nicely fried batter and inside is soft, moist barramundi. The chips are crunchy and lightly fried. Add the tartare sauce on a lettuce cup and a generous slice of lemon and you have one of the best fish dishes in NSW. In fact pelican rocks has won the best fish and chips title for 2017 to 2019. And it's also a good idea to talk with local waitress Imogen for her recommendation for the best piece of fish for the day.

Some of the best fish and chips I've had! Fish was fresh, light and delicious. Chips weren't super soggy or oily, and they were seasoned nicely. Crumbed calamari, prawn skewers and oysters were also great. Friendly service. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely, attentive staff and comfy white washed room. Icy cold beer from a short but good list. Seafood platter had fantastic oysters and grilled fish, was a very decent sized serve. The only drawback was the tartare sauce was not home made. It was incredibly sweet, as was the coleslaw dressing. A real tartare sauce with capers and gherkins would have been 5 stars.

Voted Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice for best fish and chips in NSW in 2017 and 2018 respectively, Pelican Rocks Cafe is legitimately Australia's Best fish and Chips and we can attest to that. The fact that they use fresh caught local produce is a big reason why they have the best fish and chips. Super fresh and you can choose the type of fish, it is lightly battered inside delicious flesh, white flakey and melts in your mouth. The chips are crisp and nicely seasoned. This place is great value with huge servings and fresh produce. The mixed seafood baskets were impressive as was their prawn Salad.

16-Dec-2017, Sat 13:30. Plenty of free parking in the surrounding area. Relatively busy, managed to find a table to fit all 5-6 of us. Waiters don't usually walk around so one of us had to go to the inside area to call a waiter over. We just loved the oysters, unanimously. The overall cohort rated the food quality 3.5/5. I can't say we waited for long for the food. I find the honey glazed chips...not a good recipe. They have a toddler seat. See photos.

Just want to give a little feedback as I made a detour to visit today. Flathead and calamari were fresh and well cooked. My flathead was a little broken up though which was a shame, I counted 8 pieces all broken 😞 you can also see from the calamari that the coating is not complete so the result is a more greasy product. Chips weren’t to my taste, I think they are frozen, but that’s ok, I think very few chip shops cut there own potatoes and fry in dripping these days. Staff were super friendly 👍

I love fish and chips so we took the drive to try out this award winning place. Quite a busy place and had to wait 25 minutes on a weekday lunch takeaway. We bought the famous fisherman's basket and a serve of calamari and chips. The calamari were delicious, and so were the chips. Wish there were more as the calamari rings were rather small. The award winning fisherman's basket was a let down. The grilled fish were mediocre and battered scallop was about the size of fingernail. Overall it was a good experience, just a bit stingy on serving size for the price they were charging.

Today a group of us comprising 34 people had lunch at the Restaurant and it was a really great experience. Not one complaint about the food and even though we were such a large group the staff were cheerful and extremely accommodating. My husband and I shared a fish plate for $40 and it was very good value. The Restaurant has an excellent idea for billing such a large group, everyone is issued with a number and when you pay you hand in your number and you are billed individually so there are no hassles about splitting the bill. Such a good idea!

Easily the best seafood in Nowra, can't beat it. Salt & pepper squid and beer battered chips. Only suggestion for this restaurant is to double check names on phone orders. We waited 40 minutes for our lunch today and turned out that it had been sitting there for 20 minutes cause they put the wrong name down on the order. Or lunch was cold and chips were soggy... but it was still tasty.

They give you like, 4 options for fish, and I swear to God, you won't recognise any of the names. So you'll ask, "What do you recommend?" And like a sommelier, the person will launch into a description of the four fish and their flavour profiles, texture, ect. it's impressive, honestly. You won't really understand the difference still, but I've got a secret for you. It doesn't matter. They all taste amazing. Absolutely come here, and buy food. It's super good.

So we were pleased to drive from Culbarra and taste the best seafood fish basket we have had in Australia. When we got at the cafe, it looked a bit simplest has metallic and plastic tables and chairs. The back garden has old chairs in the ground that could be binned...... So What makes it the best seafood place? It's very simple, fantastic quality , decent portion, reasonable price and really good service. Great place and we will be back there again!
