Finally get a chance to get here after only having Single O coffees from other wholesaler. Staffs are amazing! Super friendly, Bubbly and Knowledgeable. Daily Fright is the must-have here! Very reasonable price Specialty Coffees. Would love to try their food next time.
D. “.
Went there in the morning, coffee was good, food was good. Would wanna go back again. They have a bunch of beans that they roast by themselves I believe. The time I went there were only outdoor seats as they didn’t open up the shop - but that might have changed now. Anyway, keen to come back here again soon.

Some of the most delicious coffees, the Single O beans got me on a journey of brewing at home.
I finally got up to the Surry Hills Cafe and it was a treat, the filter flight was amazing as was the pork toastie.
Staff were super attentive and friendly
I also picked up a packet of the Parachute brews which are super useful for getting really amazing coffee when all you have near is a kettle

Visiting Single O in Sydney 🇦🇺 was an amazing experience when it comes to pure black single origin coffee.
It doesn’t take long to realize that Australia is a espresso based milk beverage country. According to the Square Coffee Report 2019, 74% of all coffees served in a café were milk beverages (latte: 27%, flat white: 25%, cappuccino: 20%, and piccolo: 2%). That is massive compared to other countries. This is also why the baristas here in Australia are milk texturing robots.
Single O launched an interesting black coffee model to emphasizing on the purest way to enjoy coffee – single origin black coffee: TAP-IN: “We launched black coffee on tap at our Surry Hills café in early 2019. The Freepour™ Taps were created to shake things up at the coffee bar, in the name of single origins. (Which we’ve had a thing for since 2003.) We set about to give pure black filter coffee as much precedence as the espresso machine. The result was a self-pay self-serve, coffee on tap system, front & center, at your fingertips.”
I enjoyed a tasty single origin coffee from Costa Rica – Finca La Manita. While sipping this coffee chilled on ice, I enjoyed reading about their farm trip to Fina La Manita in 2013. It is always great to see when roaster engage in long-term relationships with farmers.
I also liked the colorful chairs to sit outside against the nicely spray-painted wall. And one little extra: they made sure, that I won’t run away with the toilet key. Too big to run! And one more thing: it is also nice to see, that many cafés are using recycled toilet paper. The details make the difference.
A big thank you also to the baristas for their great hospitality and the time to explain the TAP-IN system, that was cool. THANK YOU.

Nice coffee. The salmon was a bit salty on the skin, but everything else was amazing! Staff were also very friendly. We didn’t spend too much time in the queue during lunch time.
R. G.
Nice cafe in Surry Hills for brunch. It gets super busy so try to go during non-peak times! Cold brew coffee is a must try!
Poached eggs on toast; The Avo show.
B. H.
Amazing food, coffee and service! The food and coffee comes out fast as well! I’ve been here multiple times over the last 4 years and each experience has been 5 stars! Finally got around to writing this review 😂
J. G.
The avo show with the achiote cashew cheese is the best variation of smashed avo I've had in my life 😭 apparently it's won awards! Can't rate it enough, and the coffee is so smooth and amazing too.
T. X.
Nice environment, excellent service. Choices of single origin coffees and the flat white we had had amazing milk texture. I’d call it a Melbourne grade coffee. Cold brew is very reasonably priced.
J. L.
$5.50 for a coffee sounds expensive but well worth it. One of the best coffees I have had this year! The staff are also incredibly nice. Can’t wait to come back here to try their food.
S. M.
If you're after somewhere that when you leave you feel fresh and you feel like you paid for the worth of your breakfast this is the place to go!
I only wish they could add the hollandaise sauce to their breakfast menu but other than that this place is the meaning of keep it simple but give quality ❤️ loved it will come back definitely
R. Y.
Impressed with the coffee, cold brew tastes balanced, not too acid, feeling so fresh at a hot summer afternoon.🥇
K. L. (.
One of the only cafe with a plant based focus menu. Although the view is fun on the counter seat, it is almost impossible to get the attention from the servers. The croissant was mostly doughy with only one crispy edge. The blistered cauliflower was tasty but was cold so not the best for a cold day. The bread was quite tough to cut through. The okonomiyaki had a giant serving of pickled ginger. Very spicy. The plant based bacon was like a crispy salty cracker. The coffee on tap looked quite cool and you could use a cup to fill instead of the to go paper ones if you were drinking on site.
M. S.
Great vegan menu and delicious coffee! Went for breakfast and ordered the Miso Eggplant roll with kimchi and a coffee. The vegan range has Asian inspired flavours and everything looked great, so it was hard to chose just one dish. I'll be back to try the other options soon. Absolutely great vibe with cool music and lovely staff, all tucked away in corner at Surry Hills.
P.
The coffee at Single O is simply the best in Sydney. There’s also a great, buzzing energy in this cafe! The food was wonderful and the staff was energetic and friendly. Expect a wait on the weekends, but you can grab a coffee and enjoy the environment around. It’s a great time!
C. A.
Their vegan breakfast are so good ! A lot of texture ,And the staff are super friendly and lovely , every time I go there I feel the love
G. Y.
I would said food is good, but filter seems not strong enough, and it is not impressed for me.
L.
Great service from the friendly staff. Love the ambience of this cafe. Perfect spot for brunch. Delicious coffee to pair with the tasty food. Interesting menu!
N. C.
Absolutely in love with this place. We ordered the beef and confit salmon, both are tasty and mouth watering. Good coffee and I actually had two cups. Friendly staff. Definitely will be back soon.
D. P.
Really delicious coffee. One of my faves in Sydney. Food is good too! A bit crowded inside but good atmosphere overall. You might have to wait a little during busy periods but worth checking out if you're around, whether you want to dine in or just get takeaway coffee.
J. H.
We both ordered duck salad, was good just the duck was a bit too sweet for me. Would like to try other food on the menu next time. Highly recommend their coffee. The initial taste was light, not quite the same as other cafes, but soon you would notice it’s smooth texture and well balanced coffee taste and body. You would want to order a second cup to enjoy the experience.
J. N.
Nice vibe and jazz music. Upmarket place. Prices ok.
Nice coffee
And gluten free bread options
Just wish they had Tabasco or worcestshire for the eggs.
J. T.
Have been visiting this place for many years. The coffee is excellent, as is the food. So delicious. The team at the Surry Hills location are friendly, patient and cool af and they all seem happy to be there and passionate about coffee. It helps that the branding, design and illustration work for Single O packaging, website, etc are so damn good.
K. N.
One of favourite quality coffee shop in Sydney. I enjoyed their great coffee and healthy mothership bowl.
J. V.
My favourite coffee in Sydney. My flat white is always dreamy. Friendly staff and nice fit out. I ordered a full cream flat white which was delicious followed by a soy flat white which was equally as delicious. If you're a local you probably already know how good their coffee is and if you're a visitor it's definitely worth the trek out of the cbd to try it.
M. T.
Returned to this same shop on my subsequent visit to Sydney and dined in as I couldn't get a seat the last time. Great coffee and pastries. Loved the beef brisket as well!
C. S.
Unfortunately, the food was disappointed. The duck is just like something bought from an Asian restaurant but served in the wrong way. The duck and salad were cobbled together rashly though I waited for a long time for this recommended dish. I also had the Eggplant Roll that was less flavor. Maybe because the duck is too sweet. Ps: the deep-fried oil seems not fresh.
The coffee tastes light. If you are used to strong coffee, try a double shot or don’t go. However, the barista is excellent and has a very good understanding of coffee. The staff is very friendly, patient, and helpful.
It is not worth going there particularly for the coffee or the food (like me) though they were listed as one of the best cafes in Sydney. However, if you occasionally pass by, you should give it a try. But, just don’t order anything with duck lol
S. P.
Coffee was one of the best for flavour.
My husband and I tend to go for very different breakfasts and we both got exactly the kind of thing we like - his was all carb and protein, mine was all vegetable and protein. Perfect.
Good music too
K. H.
Another gem in this gorgeous part of Sydney. Totally awesome coffee (we shared "batch for the table" and it was delicious) and the food was refreshingly unique. Our mushrooms on toast packed a spicy punch and what's not to love about espresso butter topping banana bread! Will definitely visit again
N. R.
Love the cold brews! Also bought some coffee grains and appreciate that even that it was a busy day, the girl at the register took the time to explain the blends and recommended one that suited what I was after
M. F.
Always, always, always delivers. Staff know the coffees & food menu inside out. Very welcoming vibe & you never feel rushed. Would have been here close to 10 times & I’ve never had a bad meal or coffee. One of Sydney’s best.
S. S.
Finally, the shop's renovation has been done! It's lovely and modern interior. There are prenty seats but still they were so busy :) but definitely worth to waiting for, it's one of the best coffee in Sydney. I love the friendly and warm service so much. Highly recommended!
C.
Great coffee, and perhaps the best toastie I've ever had. Combined with lovely staff, it was a great breakfast.
N. L.
Great coffee and a reliable brunch place.
Can't go wrong with Single O. I love their Killer Bee beans for cold brew and you know you'll have a solid brunch wherever you eat here.
Z. L.
Decided to sit down and enjoy a coffee here in the middle of the morning. I ordered a Kenyan batch brew with a slice of banana bread. The coffee was smooth and flavorful while the banana bread was toasted just right. The waiting staff were very friendly, polite and accommodating. The atmosphere was very chill and it felt like a place you could stay for hours or just take a quick minute to order a coffee on the run.
C. L.
Always a great experience with every visit. Close and an easy walk to and from central station.
Great place for a quick cup of coffee or a nice brunch too. Single O may be available in many different cafes these days, but it doesn’t beat being at the place that serves everything they have.
Try the coffee butter with banana bread, pretty awesome!
K. S.
Work in the area and this easily my favourite coffee + food spot in Sydney. The staff are always really wonderful to deal with and provide great service.
V. d. S.
Great cafe with good coffee. Nice vibe and good food options. Not many vegan options but they were helpful in modifying dishes to make it vegan. Had a lovely avo on toast with an oat milk hot choc. Rate those. Picture below doesn't show the avo, but there's an entire avo under all that yummy dukkah!
S. H.
Delicious food, great service and great coffee :)
C. C.
Coffee 5 stars
Meal 5 stars
Loved the Nicaragua COE #5 coffee, it’s fruity and fresh. And it’s interesting to read about the different blend, would love to go back and try the special sweet 16th blend.
The serves were quite generous, we found it hard to finish everything on the plate early in the morning. But all dishes were very yummy!
s. c.
Lovely place, great coffee and breakfast. There's a queue, be there early and get your number!! Service staff was very pleasant and helpful. The banana bread w espresso butter is awesome.

Over the holiday period, we finally had the time to just chill out and visit some cafes we’ve had on our list for a while now. We do enjoy single o coffee, and have had it a lot when the roaster was previously in our local area. Since it’s departure, we’ve enjoyed it at a few cafes around Sydney. Recently we opted to visit its popular specialty coffee cafe in Surry Hills. In a side street that’s not too busy with vehicles.
Whenever your drive past, it’s always busy, evidence of it being a quality cafe. We arrived and had our name on the waiting list, but not for long, we were seated fast. Staff are obviously experienced in high turnover of customers, taking our order as soon as we sat down to have whilst we selected and ordered our food.
Nice smooth milk based coffees, which use only 3% milk but they also have filter, pour over, batch brew and iced drinks too.
The menu is extremely appealing and the majority of the menu items are healthy and made with using ethical produce, interesting flavours and Australian native ingredients.
We had the mothership bowl, with poached eggs, avocado, roasted mushroooms, roasted pumpkin, fermented cabbage, kale, turmeric cashew cheese, mixed grains and hazelnut dukkah. We often order this sort of dish if it’s on the menu, but this one is one of the better ones we’ve eaten. The flavours are really lovely and we enjoyed it a lot.
Kurt did want to try the coffee spiced beef brisket burger but went for a healthier but also appealing meal, the native nori toasted tomato with black rice, edamame, tempeh, asparagus, sesame dressing and a poached egg.
We’re also good authority that this place does a great bacon and egg roll. We’ll be back to try some of the other good stuff on the menu too.
K. F.
The options for food is great whether you want something soulful or sinful.
The coffee is great, smooth, robust and quick.
My partner got the muesli described as fresh, uplifting and everything he needed.
I owned and dominated the bowl it was healthy, palate nurturing and everything I wanted.
C. T.
My first time here and already had a fabulous time! Breakfast menu options are really great and the coffees they serve are really top notch! Will definitely be back here.
I ordered their single o bac roll and a regular flat white. And it was the best! Keep it up Single O!
M. D.
Food was delicious. We're talking some of the best avo on toast you can get - the radish makes it so refreshing! The chicken toastie is a go to for brunch, and the coffee is also fantastic. Coupled with attentive waitstaff and chill ambience, this spot is a firm favourite.
K. L.
A great cafe which gets busy but we didn't have to wait long. There's a takeout section which is full of people. Just go to the corner where table services are. Service was prompt. Food is well prepared. The banana bread with Espresso butter is awesone.
A. D.
Delicious breakfast and great quality coffee. Their bacon is so good and the kombucha is unique and tasty!
If you care about coffee, stop by Single O and get some beans to take home!
A.
Went to shop today, was recommended trying out Killer Bee for milk based espresso. Tried at home, liked the taste, will come back as regular! (I am actually switching from well known Marrickville based roaster since they are inconsistent lately imo).
K.
Best Almond Milk Chai Latte I’ve ever had! Really impressed by the foam bc usually almond milk cant form think foam due to its consistency!
Mothership bowl was a little small portioned then expected considering it costed 21.50.
Everyone’s really friendly and attentive!
M. P. G.
Although they had Nice food , the coffee was awful. The espresso didn’t have any foam , and the coffee tasted like milk. Understaffed on a Saturday morning, probably why we didn’t get a nice experience from the staff.
G. L.
Highly recommended! Great coffee + friendly staffs + wonderful healthy foods. Really enjoyed our brunch! Will be back again, Keep it up guys!
E. M.
Wow. Single O is fantastic from top to bottom (food, service, value). A must try for anyone in the city.
Service: Very attentive and super friendly. Smiles for all!
Food: The menu offers a range of unique dishes and variations on old favorites. The Bill's corn and ribbery fritter is at its heart a delicious kimchi accented vegan dish. For non-vegans like myself it is taken to the next level with a deliciously spicy green chorizo. The avo and toast variation is also out of this world (take it up a notch by adding a poached egg or two)!
Coffee: They offer a range of delicious options on this front serviced by some 'prototype' batch technology to avoid the typical wait associated with pour over. Recommend that you order a carafe for $10 which offers about 4 cups ($16 if ordered by cup instead)
Verdict: For ~$60AUD you can have a blowout best in class brunch that will satisfy Sydney and NYC friends alike.
Heads up: I have not tried the CBD location but based on a walk-by it operates under a different model which includes more of a stand/take-away culture and greatly reduced seating. As such, I would recommend the stroll out to Surry Hills for the best experience.
N. P.
Nice place with friendly staff who are highly attentive. Coffee was good enough, but not for the price. ($5.01 for a decaf LB)
Was amused by the sign that they aren't accepting cash (covid I suppose) but that there's a surcharge for cards (and menu items on the weekend). Why not factor bank charges in to the COGS, so strange to add them on top (especially when not allowing other forms of payment.)
B. F.
The watermelon "tuna" was *ridiculously* good. It's really quite unbelievable that a watermelon can be made to look, feel and taste that way
J. D.
Rocked up at Prime brunch time and were greeted by wunnerful staff. Spent a few mins people watching with an excellent soy flat white before being shown to our table. All the loveliez working were very attentive and friendly.
The food was both tasty and nourishing. Mapo mushrooms were a flavour bomb. Everything was well priced. Taste flight of 3 batch brews was exceptional.
The vibe was relaxed and happy. Couldn't ask for more.
張.
Amazing coffee and friendly staff.
Filter coffee on taps, yes I am not kidding, unbelievable right?
Banana bread serve with espresso butter, OMG it’s delicious.
Always busy, sometimes need to wait 15 mins for a table.
J. K.
I stopped in for a quick coffee at this beautiful local gem today. It's got a reputation as one of the best little coffee places around and it lives up to the hype. Our friendly barrista served us with a smile and a chat despite a line that was several people deep and even told me a bit about the drop I was having (it was Tanzanian!)
I strongly recommend you go here for a strong cup of Joe!
S. G.
Excellent tasting options for someone who wants to drink a lot of coffee. I spent a whole morning drinking through their menu. The place was packed mid Friday morning, and the staff were friendly and attentive to everyone there.
P.
Excellent coffee spot , I ordered a very fruity Costa Rica espresso that was quite delicious.
Breakfast menu is pretty good as well and very friendly and helpful staff!
P. V.
I had their Long black single origin which was very nice and smooth.
Unfortunately, my partner got the wrong thing, he ordered ice coffee but he got soy latte instead.
J. T.
Nice coffee, but some of the staff thinks itself too cool to treat you with even a shred of courtesy. Bit of a bummer.
L. F.
Great coffee! I wish I got a chance to try the food but the cappuccino I got was good enough for me (and the Instagram!) 😊. There are two sides to this place- one for takeout and one for sitting in. The tables are cute and I saw a lot of people just catching up through breakfast. Next time I'll have to check out the delicious looking pastries. Till next time!
B. P.
Their coffee is fantastic, one of the best in Sydney. The salmon dish was superb, nice and crispy skin and tender flesh.
Gets pretty busy so be sure to head in earlier.
L. L.
According to the barista, bought their own coffee bean at the origin and roasted themselves. Got a flat white, tasted very smooth, definitely on the creamy side than the expresso side. The coffee shop was no more than a hole in a wall, literally, but very popular with tourists and locals alike. Next door also offers a cafe, people just sit on the sidewalks, a nice place to get a cup of coffee on the go.
🍡Must order🍡

This place is a cool place to chill for brunch. Food was quite tasty I had the crispy salmon skin which i recommend and mrs had the toast with eggs with bacon mushroom and avocado. Would give five star but felt service was a little slower than we expected (when comparing to other similar cafes and number of customers).
Y.
Had two splendid coffees (they serve up a differing range of batch brews on a daily basis) and an amazing banana bread served toasted with espresso infused salted butter. The service was also swift and excellent.
S. K.
Interesting menu, I enjoyed the food, juice and coffee. The open room layout made it very cold for a winter morning.
C. P.
Highly recommend for brunch! Outdoor seating is comfortable in autumn. The food and coffee are really nice. Best coffee in Surry hills.
H. K.
Best food and coffee in Sydney
!!!! LOVE IT!
S. L.

Service was a little slow but they apologise for it :)
Had a almond croissant which was nice
Would come back for sure

Must visit breakfast place in Surry Hills. Really friendly and quick staff. Had the Avo Toast which has beetroot and labneh which was a really delicious compliment to the avocado.
Really nice cold brew coffee as well.
D. P.
Awesome place with great selection of coffees and delicious bites for breakfast. Stuff is friendly and service was quick. Personally I recommend La Porshetta toast.
V. l. w.
Like it! Despite not so friendly staff, this is the place for coffee specialists!
Get a chance to try sugarplum cocktail (w Bourbons) taste really fantastic (quite near to Korea plum wine)
Great breakkie!!! I had the pepper salmon salad (w quinoa) yummy!!!

Wonderful service and bubbly staff. Coffee roast was strong amd excellent. Definitely recommend their rhubarb tart and their breakfast option. Start your day with a smile!! At Single O
M. D.
I don't give out 5 stars that easy but this place was really really good. Coffee was great, the iced coffee was great and the avacado, beetroot fetta on toast was amazing. Have never seen this combo which tells me tgatvthe chef knows what he is doing.
A. B.
Great coffee and food. Cozy, but worth the squeeze. Friendly staff, just make sure you let them know you're there when it's busy so they take down your name for a table.
J. N.
Oh my god the food here is so delicious! I had the Single O BAE Roll. 10/10 Would have coffee and breakfast every day here.

Fantastic range for breakfast that tastes great. Really freindly service, with waiters who remember orders without having to write them down. A great overall cafe.
P. I.
Nice cafe with good vibes. Food was 5/5 and service 6/5. Exceptionally friendly staff. But I was surprised that how bad the coffee tasted. I had two lattes, 1 normal and 1 decaf, and the normal latte tasted sour and very bitter and had a strange aftertaste. As if made of below-than-average quality beans and with a machine that was not cleaned properly (which I would find very strange from such high-class baristas). The decaf tasted interesting, it had an almost hazelnutty taste but very very watery aftertaste. Rather bland. So either there was something strange going on with their brewing that day or the person who had chosen the coffee beans has a weird taste when it comes to coffee. The baristas did know how to frothe the milk though, that was excellent. But will not be back because the coffee just did not taste good at all. I expected above average coffee from this place.
K. S.
Amazing coffee and food + great and attentive service is this cafe's secret to success! My new found favourite cafe in Sydney 👍🏻
N. T.
Tiny corner cafe with excellent coffee and food! The open kitchen and rough industrial aesthetic makes for a great cafe experience. Top notch coffee on rotation and tasty and beautifully presented food. Gets busy but worth a short wait!
W.
A colleague took me here for a coffee meeting as I was visiting from interstate. Wow! The coffee is expertly made with love and is beautiful to drink, and service is fabulous. I quickly discovered why it was so busy, yet the staff were very organised and things flowed quickly and smoothly. You can choose from a selection of single origin coffee. Love your work team!
D. F.
Well located between central station and Surry Hills. Great selection of healthy brunch meals. Well priced and great service also makes this place a must try.
K. R.
I went to Single O in Surry Hills wanting to buy some coffee for home as it's that good!. Unfortunately they didn't have all the coffee blends I was after however the barrister who served me was so sweet and accommodating. She suggested a great coffee blend suitable to my machine and drinking style. To top it off I got a free coffee to go!! I think that's fab especially when your buying alot of coffee.
U. F.
Very good coffee and the breakfast was very rich. Nice little coffee in the middle of Sydney.
I. A.
Top place for breakie!
Even the COVID take away option tastes lovely!
Best Banana Bread in Sydney!
M. C.
Lovely little cafe with mostly outdoor seating. Efficient and friendly service. Food is super fresh and tasty. Coffee is great too!
J. K.
I visited early in the morning, but there were many customers.
The coffee was excellent and the avocado menu was my favorite. The staffs are kind.
F. F.
Probably the coolest café I know in that neighbourhood - amazing cold brews and fabulous vibe! 😍😍
B. P.
Really good coffee at a really good price. Great menu options and super helpful staff. A must visit!
J. A.
Wanted to sit down and do some writing and have a coffee - so popped into Single O... and thought wow!
This is great little cafe that takes its coffee seriously! I had a half full black - see below - and it was perfect! The staff are friendly and warm - it is a place that just seems to make you want to sit for an hour! Loved it!!!!
B. W. T.
Healthy food! Decent coffee! Friendly staff! Definitely love this place!
A. T.
The single origin coffee was great. The food was so tasty. The sauce was a smoked cream sauce
y. j.
It's lovely place to have a great coffee and delicious food.
People are so friendly.
I definitely recommend this Cafe.
It's the best Cafe in Sydney.
L. N.
Tucked away amid the heritage warehouses in industrial Surry Hills, this little hole in the wall is just the business. All coffee served in ceramic, simple menu, fresh colours, good food and on the job staff.
H. B.
Super cosy inside loved the seating indoors and the banana bread with homemade espresso butter was to die for! Great coffee too. Thanks
M. K.
Had the crispy skin salmon with poached eggs. It came with some greens, labneh, and toasted almonds. The almonds were a very surprising accompaniment with the salmon. Tasted really good. The fish was perfectly cooked. I love Single O coffee, so needless to say, I'm definitely going back here!
p. h.
Nice black coffee and brew coffee.
H. C.
The food was delicious, the coffee was okay, atmosphere would be good if you wouldn’t mind having brunch in the street. It was satisfying.
T. H.
Another staple of my Sydney cbd places to eat. Always good food and great ambiance
P. V. L.
Best coffee in Sydney. Friendly service, staff are knowledgeable but reason they are the best if they deliver a complex but smooth medium roast coffee that someone find the sweet spot.
J. L.
Amazing coffee and chai latte here! I had the roast muesli with poach pear... Usually stuff like this are in small portion but they gave us a portion good enough for brunch! However, this place is super popular so expect 20-30mins waiting time!
J. M.
First time we went there it was ok, nice coffee and fresh ingredientes for brekkie items. But today they were amazing, I misread the ingredients on the menu and order something I’m extremely averse and allergic to. Again, my mistake, yet both the waitress and Laura (kitchen) were super attentive and understanding, they replaced it from scratch (without hesitation nor eye rolling) and it was DELICIOUS. Thanks
A. P.
Excellent staff and atmosphere. Menu is a bit obscure, but very taste and quick to arrive. Excellent coffee batch options. Bit pricey but it is to be expected.
L. W.
A vibrant small cafe tucked away. Great friendly and helpful staff. A fun cafe to grab a cup of joe!

Excellent coffee and warm environment from the staff. Great spot for a simple brekkie to start the day.
J. P.
Had their banana bread with vegemite butterscotch and homemade ricotta. Was a great combo with my espresso. Stools are a little uncomfortable and squishy, but overall great and bright atmosphere.
E. J.
Great place. Coffee is fantastic, the barista was super friendly. Nice little alleyway to chill & drink your coffee if not sitting in. Really chill vibes
M. S.
We're visiting from NYC and came to Single O by a friend's recommendation.
I had the avocado toast and my friend ate the brisket sandwich. I have to say it was soooo delicious that I forgot to take a photo prior to me devouring my meal :) Really a fantastic place to visit. Staff there are just wonderful, food is amazing and the decor and style to the place is really chill and relaxing. Such a great place to visit! Oh, and the COFFEE IS SO GREAT!
L. M.
Got a table for five in like 15 minutes in peak, staff very attentive but chilled. Really yummy alt take on avo on toast.
C. R.
I think that Single O has the best bacon and egg roll in Surry Hills. It's simple but it works. Also the coffee is amazing.
S. U.
Hi All, I just want to say thanks to Sharni who went above and beyond with her customer service over the phone not long ago. My wife and I love the Paradox blend, and are very impressed with your delivery times during this hectic pandemic postal issue.
A. T.
My favourite cafe. Food is amazing and always inventive.
g. m.
Really love Single O, been to their cafe in Tokyo a few times and have been a regular at Surrey Hills since I moved to Sydney. Nice staff, tasty food and delicious coffee! They also have a pop up at Carriageworks market too which is great :)
J. Z.
Beautiful looking food and delicious to eat ! Not over priced and have great coffee
B. F.
Really nice chicken sandwich but personally me and my friend thought there was a bit too much olives in, it just made it a bit too salty and it became too much by the second half of my sandwich. The ice tea wasn’t our favourite but not terrible. Just didn’t taste like ice tea. I will be going back as I can tell they have a lot of great more food and drink to offer.
J.
My fave cafe in Sydney. Great coffee, great set-up, great staff
t. n.
One of the great coffee place. Very strong service mind staff, dog friendly, nice atmosphere and, of course, well made coffee both taste and presentation.
A. L.
Incredible coffee, food was outstanding. Staff are friendly and the service is always first-class. Thank you very much
M. M.
Very friendly staff, enjoyed the coffee and the banana bread. If I have to be fussy, I would only ask for more espresso butter on my toast, but only because it was soooooo good! :)
D. L.
Arrived in Sydney flying the red eye. Much needed brews provided by the friendly crew at Single O. Loved the fact that they have a KeepCup rinser for customers to use.
C. F.
Good coffee, doing leave it too l late because food service ends at 14:30 on a Saturday
M. B.
One of the best coffees in Sydney. Hard to find a better almond croissant 🥐. Most impressive is their online store which is so well built and easy to use.
R. O.
Delicious! Had the GF bowl, everything was amazing. The service is super friendly and it’s reasonably priced. Defo coming back!
V. K.
Easily one of my top 5 cafes in Sydney. Menu is simple but every item is freaking delicious, cannot go wrong with any choice. Coffee is unbelievably good.
A. P.
Fantastic coffee and a very delicious breakfast. I'd definitely come back! Staff were friendly too.
N. S.
I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed the food. I particularly like the eggplant katsu roll. The coffee is also delicious and have bought some beans to make at home.
C.
Coffee is epic! Food is fresh and tastes amazing! We will be back to try something else on the menu.
T. B.
Great quality and tasting coffee, very friendly staff and the food is great too!
k. c.
Great coffee and many vegan/vegetarian options
M. O.
Good coffee with cool vibes
K. S.
Fo' shizzle this place rocks! It rocks with or without socks! Anyway, fun jokes aside...it's great coffee amazing food, awesome staff and everything in between. Love it. Try their oat slushy....drool. oh and please have the Bacon and Egg roll...please...it'll be the best thing you'll have.
E.
Great atmosphere paired with amazing blends and decor. Would recommend the Brisket roll, it was delicious.
F. M.
Great food. Burrata breakfast would’ve been perfect with some toast.
S. P.
Awesome coffee and breakfast and nice weather and pleasant roadside table and cheerful hosts
P. S.
Had an iced filter and an eggplant katsu (super yum). Single origin was Kenyan. I'm listening to a podcast about a man struck by lightning as I'm writing this review. There was nice ambient jazz music playing in the background. Coffee quality was excellent. The set up of the cafe was like a minimalist open bar. The staff were next level friendly! They interacted with regulars from all walk off life. It's the Surry hills experience ☺️
L. C.
The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. We didn't know it was a little shop by the street but definitely was busy. We were lucky to have a table when we arrive. People were lining up to get seated but the service turnover was fairly fast. Many locals stop by to grab coffee for take away.
Everything was good, from the drink to the food. We had the plains white coffee and was very smooth and rich in flavor. We also wanted to try the kangaroo sausages, and was interesting. Def. recommend the place! Now I'm going to be sad because I won't get to enjoy this yummy food when I return home.
L. D.
I just loved the whole experience. Staff is lovely, coffee is delicious, the venue feels comfortable, the food is full of colours and is an explosion of flavors.
One of the best breakfasts in Sydney.
A. M.
Excellent service
Best coffee in Sydney
Good food !
A. S.
The best almond capp I've ever had. The food is also amazing😉 Very busy in the rush hours.
M. H.
Had our takeaway hot drinks taken by another patron. The staff were apologetic and remade our drinks for us straight away.
Great service, great coffee, and great food. 🙂
K.
Finally a coffee place which serves real coffee in Sydney. However, was disappointed when they told me that a latte is the same as a flat white.
L. C.
Great coffee shop in Surry Hills! Great as a solo traveller as the place is quite tight so groups will often have to wait but I was able to get a seat at the bar right away! There were a lot of great coffee places in Sydney but this was one of the best I tried, I got the coffee flight which is a great way to try a few different blends. Also fantastic pastries, the almond croissant was spot on
J.
The coffee is excellent and that brisket sandwich is amazing. Love it!
e. k.
If u can eat spicy, must try “mapo mushroom on toast” yummy!
M. N.
Interesting menu and of course great coffee!
J. B.
I came here last week on Thursday and the staff were super friendly and helpful, and willing to take time aside to answer my questions even though it was pretty busy.
Also one of the only places to sell good quality parachutes which is pretty sick, yewww
M. J.
Absolutely delicious long black (with a splash of milk). There was a 30min wait on a table so we opted for takeaway but that is a testament to the high quality of coffee and food. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a great coffee.
U. M.
I bought a Breville Precision brewer from their online store. I got a 10% discount as it was my first purchase and they were already the lowest online price. I wasn't charged for delivery and my package arrived 1 day after eta, but considering it was just before Christmas I think that is very impressive. I love my new machine!
G. C.
Coffee was very well made. Probably not my favourite tasting coffee. Was more oaty, nutty whereas I prefer the dark cherry, chocolate. Still very good though
C. H.
Amazing. Top notch coffee and great service. Barista had a swift flow and very knowledgeable. A proper pro. Will be coming back as much as I can
K. L.
They Have a good quality flat white, I went there at around 9 on Sunday in the morning, There were a lot of people, you can feel casual Sunday vibe :) ☕😉
E. C.
Great place to have a coffee and chat.
S. M.
I would go to Sydney again just to have their coffee. They're so creative with how to have coffee. Had both the "on tap" kind and the slushie, both delicious!
B. B.
Good place for a coffee, food and maybe some chit chat with friends. However the place being small, you will not be comfortable seeing people wait while you simply take too long to finish. What I mean to say is that it's not a place to go alone with a book. Otherwise it's an awesome little cafe
L. J.
+ Enjoyed the Eggplant Katsu Roll. Generous portion served quickly.
+ Cafe is conveniently located near public transport; within walking distance to Central Station
+ Staff are very polite, friendly and attentive
- Expect a wait time at this popular joint. However, the wait is worth it!
J.
Amazing cup of coffee, the banana bread and almond croissant were stellar. Absolutely loved it here.
H. M.
Epic oat flattie after the garbage we had to put up with in Queensland
E. E.
Do a good almond latte, everyone's so friendly, great atmosphere. Would take my friends here any day of the week.
P. P.
Single O is our neighbourhood coffee shop. Although we don’t go out everyday for a coffee everytime we do we prefer to visit these guys. Grab a quality coffee cup with passionately roasted delicious beans.
Good service although it does get busy and noise out there the service and quality of coffee out-way the rest!
J. G.
Great little place. Tucked away in this little corner is a small shop with great staff and very delicious coffee. I sampled one of the pastries, an orange cream something or other, but who cares about the name, it too was delicious. It was very busy so you may have to wait for a table if you want to sit inside or at one of the outside tables. I simply sat on one of the chairs that they have outside and did some people watching while I enjoyed my coffee and my pastry. I would definitely go back.
J. M.
Nice little corner to get some coffee. The croissants were outstanding.
V. Q.
Single O is a nice place to come to have a chat with friends or a place to sit down and get some work done.
Coffee here is pretty good and they do have some good pastries. I didn’t get to try the food but simple cafe fare is on the menu. Staff here is really quite friendly and they make the experience here quite enjoyable.
L. O. W.
I ordered a coffee and the Eggplant Katsu Roll, a delicious combination of of taste and texture! They have great vegetarian options and the presentation is gorgeous.
G. M.
Really busy in the mornings well worth getting here, staff very helpful friendly and well organised.
A. S.
Long black coffee was textured and thick with great flavor. The Sunny side up with egg was also very nice wish had somthing like a sauce or some more toppings to give its taste stronger punch
B.
One of the best cafes in Surrey Hills. Friendly, Great atmosphere, fantastic food.
BUT....Long black and a gorgeous banana bread with superb melted butter - $14. What? Fourteen dollars. Exactly, what so expensive? Please explain
T. T.
One of Sydney’s best coffee. Must try their pour over.
B. B.
Single O are famous for their coffee, but this dedication to their craft extends beyond coffee and into the whole cafe experience. Varied menu, delicious chai, relaxed and attentive environment.
A. H.
Food is bettter than the coffee. The coffee itself was under extracted and came out acidic - brewing too hot?
Food was good, but watch out for the sauces and glazes - they tend to take a great savory breakfast and sugar it up to dessert level.
J. T.
Great coffee place, new taps for black coffee, great way to get your caffeine hit and go
N.
It's always variant and busy at single O Surry Hills and usually the queue isn't too long to wait for but definitely will need to wait most of the time. The food is contemporary fusion which can come as a surprise depending on your expectations and the actual dish's tastes. We are not a fan of the mapo mushrooms on bread but some people might like it. The avo toast has a fancy twist as well which isn't too bad. The coffee here is really good though. Esp. single origin black. Overall it's a busy place well suited for the insta age brunch joint generally with welcoming staff. Worth trying once.
P. G.
Loved this spot -- had a full breakfast, followed by a Portugese tart. The service was timely and attentive across the board. The proximity to central is great, and the ambiance works.
There is not going to be a place which doesn't make a mistake here and there - on the occasion I was there, this happened. My poached eggs were overdone. I mentioned this to the staff member and they resolved it immediately. The food was great, and the tart was sensational. The service all round makes this place hence the 5 stars.
V. C.
Good coffee. Fresh ingredients. Healthy options available. Great service.
T. W.
The coffee is here is fantastic and so is the food! The cafe itself is laid out well and cosy inside along with outdoor seating. It's a great spot for a coffee and a meeting if you work nearby and need to get out of the office. The best part about the Single O however is the staff, speedy service that's extremely friendly also. There were glasses and a bottle of water on the table and orders taken incredibly quickly!!
N. L. G. J.
They make great coffee. come early during Sunday as the place gets packed around 10am (brunch time). We ordered the Single O Bae Roll and the Poached egg on toast with a side of bacon and mushroom. The mushrooms are a bit peppery but everything else was delicious.
G. Q.
Place is a bit hard to find considering they don't have a signage but there's a girl right outside who asked me if i was looking for Single O. But to anyone who will go about for coffee, look for the skull!
C. B.
One of my favourite coffee places in the world. These guys know exactly what they're doing when it comes to coffee and won't hesitate to ensure you have the best coffee experience possible. Their food is also lovely and well-thought out - many can be paired with any of their mouth watering coffee blends. Their staff are knowledgeable and friendly too. Also they're open on Saturdays now, and fairly close to Central station, so you have no excuse to pop by and enjoy an amazing coffee.
H. W.
Nice little cafe happening close to Central Station. Tasty coffee and friendly, attentive staff. Good selection of menu options with a nice touch of Japanese flavours. Has a relaxed and casual atmosphere, easy for quick take away coffees too.
Z. S.
As I cafe owner & proud user of Single O coffee it was so superb just chilling back & watching the pro's in effect. you guys definitely set the benchmark for quality in this city! Big ups crew..
Coffee & Food & Service on point.
T. M.
Always enjoy a good breakfast and although the menu seems simple on read the product comes out totally original. They dont hold back on the bacon either. Coffee is on point. Definitely 5 stars
J. H. P.
It's hard to get a seat. But their flat white was definitely worth the wait
G. W.
This is the flagship cafe for internationally renowned coffee roasters "Single O". This shop really highlights the reasons for their great reputation. Excellent coffee sourced straight from origin. Numerous brewing methods, all excellent. Very tasty food at very reasonable prices. Friendly staff.
They've recently even set up for "stand up coffee" to reduce their disposable waste. Winner all round.
A. R.
Chose to go here based on reviews. Coffee was good, food was unique and okay.
Was left disappointed as service let it down; I was met with an unnecessarily abrupt and rude waitress when I asked my poached eggs to be changed to boiled eggs due to dietary restrictions (Pregnant)- “Well it’s too late now. We’re not remaking it for you.” (I wasn’t asking for a new meal...). Wouldn’t go back based on that encounter.
B. D.
Have been coming here 3-4 days a week for 13 years. Best coffee in Sydney. Eclectic, broad menu with an increasing number of Aussie bush foods added in.
Great vibe, great fitout, amazing staff.
J. Z.
Coffee is great but croissants is ....awful
J. H.
3 stars for the 5-star coffee, was an excellent Kenyan batch brew. And the food from the open kitchen smelt great and looked great from what I could see on others tables.
But very poor service. After being seated and offered a menu, found what I wanted and closed the menu (clearly a signal I was ready to order), and then had the 2 waitresses walk past quite a few times before I finally got their attention. Ordered food and coffee, waitress didn't know what the batch brew was today - despite the menu stating to ask them what was on offer - but that was ok, she did bring over the tasting notes when she bought me the coffee (which was excellent).
By the time I had finished the coffee it was clear she hadn't put through the food order. By the time I noticed this, it was too late for me to reorder, as I had to rush back to my hotel to check out, so I didn't bother. Went up to the counter, paid and left.
Mistakes happen, that's fine, but at no point in the over half an hour that I was sitting there looking around did either of the staff (who walked past me multiple times) stop and check in on me once. I had been sitting there with an empty coffee cup for at least 10 minutes and nobody came to see if I wanted anything else. I was right in the middle of the cafe too. Despite getting their eye contact multiple times, they kept walking past me.
W. L.
Fresh beans every Wednesday. You can pick any beans from them and fall in love with it.
A. P.
Many types of coffees available, had the Kenyan hot drip, it was delicious
J.
Highly recommended, coffee is fantastic here. Barista's are friendly and fast. They offer single origin beans for free for all coffee's, which is a refreshing change from most cafe's charging +$2.
C. T.
Visited a friend in Surry Hills and we end up catching up at this coffee shop. Glad she brought me here, I had a nice lunch that day. The place is quite busy though, still the staff were able to manage and accommodate everyone's orders. Well done!
K. S.
Love this little shop's breakfast selection and coffee, the menu changes regularly so that you can try different things and the coffee is some of the best in Sydney. Just be ready to wait for a seat because it is quite busy but the turn over is quick, so allow for up to 30 mins wait on weekends.
S. W.
Marvellous coffee served in lovely cups by attractive staff. The interior of the cafe (not consider the separate takeaway window) is quite small and warm so no ideal for lingering compounded by the busyness of the place. Nice cakes. There is a single toilet in the loading dock. Easy walk to/from Central train station.
A. M.
Great beans, delivered on-time and taste really good
K. C.
5 stars for excellent coffee(one of my favourites coffee in Sydney) and friendly staff
3/5 for food. Looks fancy but tastes somewhat weird. Maybe it just not for our tastes
L. T.
Was looking for nice coffee near Central when I came apon Single O. I was surprised at the quality of the coffee here, as well as the tea. The quality of the food is also very good, though there isn't a very large selection. Definitely a good stop around Central for a quick coffee with excellent service!
N. K.
Who doesn't know about Single O. Absolutely not a place to miss for coffee lovers. Their ethiopia pour over is soo sweet.. Try it out 😛
C. S. L.
Ordered 2 coffees for takeaway. Very friendly staff and the coffee is so good. Will be back again to try the food!
b.
My boyfriend is a big coffee fan and so I didn't know what to expect coming here. But what I got, oh my it was amazing. Iced chocolate with a scoop of gelato.
C. S.
My go to coffee option in a very crowded tough Surry Hills cafe landscape
G. S.
If you're fanatical about your coffee, Single Origin Roasters is among 5 cafes in Sydney I would consider compulsory for your consumption.
As the name suggests, their focus is on sourcing the best fair trade beans, roasting them to perfection and respecting the bean by choosing the best brewing methods for your selection. They were among the first in Sydney to introduce and perfect my now-brew-of-choice, the cold brew or cold drip; coarsely ground coffee is introduced to dripping water at room temperature over an extended period of time. The result is a very clean, slightly sweet less acidic coffee. Ideal when served on ice in summer.
Apart from the coffee the seasonal lunch and breakfast (before 11:45am) menus are small in selection and size, but packed with free range and organic flavour. It's certainly quality over quantity. The same goes for staff as well, who are very knowledgeable, friendly and are keen to ensure their customers enjoy the food and atmosphere.
Try to avoid the last minute breakfast rush at 11:30 if you can help it.
I. A.
The brunch i had was awesome and coffee as well!
Worth a visit
M. A.
Great place for delicious coffee and healthy eating
M. S.
A phenomenal cafe. The innovative and delicious menu is paired with immaculate service. We had the Mothership Bowl and Brisket Roll, both of which were packed with flavor, and beautifully presented. Also, get the banana bread with house made espresso butter as a side dish to your meal. If you're in Surry Hills, don't hesitate to visit this spot.
K. T.
Great coffee, good service and friendly staff. The food is okay, the portion is a bit small for the price.
Very busy on the weekend, we waited 40 mins for table for 4 people but weekend is great, just walk in.
I would recommend it for people on a brunch date.
G. T.
I was not disappointed. I googled best coffee near me, walked and loved the coffee, food but the staff were engaging and happy. Smiling, so great to see, great start to the day. Well done to the team at Single 0.
J. K.
This is my favourite café in Sydney. Friendly staff. Amazing coffee. Great food. Dog friendly. It ticks all of the boxes. The only downside is that they don't do tax returns. I guess nothing in life is perfect.
c. _.
Loved their coffees and cafe foods!
R. T.
Good flat white $4.00
i. x.
amazing service, gets quite busy but food comes quick. Their yogurt muesli is my favouriteeee.
G. L.
Good coffee & food offering. Great staff and nice fitout. Comfortable brunch spot to go when you are too hungry to think
A. M. R.
I really enjoyed my breakfast here. The americano was one of the best I had in a long time - very thik and strong. The sourdough bread with two poached eggs was simple, but so delicious! If you look for a place with great coffee AND good breakfast - that is the place to go!
A. L.
First time staying around Surry Hills and so decided to walk around to find a good coffee place. Lucky we stumbled into this cafe with great service from the staff and excellent food choices. It can get pretty busy but we were able to grab a seat outside which was perfect for our morning coffee.
李.
This brunch is scrumptious, and the special brewed coffee 👍👍
B. B.
Have never had coffee in house but this is my 3rd experience buying beans from Single O. Have only gotten the Reservoir blend, once from the cafe and twice from a stockist. On all occasions the roast date said within 2 weeks so should be fresh but the beans looked stale and felt brittle. I had to make big adjustments to my grinder settings and ultimately I end up getting coffee thin on flavour and with minimal crema and oils. Running the beans through a mythos II grinder and LM machine so that can’t be the issue. Disappointed given the rep.
Update : Manager reached out and gave me good advice on how to maximise the bean extract. Very helpful and much appreciated.
C. H.
Pulled one of the best short blacks I have ever tasted. There's a bit of a wait since they only have one machine. Really nice touches - like soda water on tap, really nice plates and cups. I haven't had the food there but it looks like they have some serious gear there - like a sous vide machine and a dedicated chef. Can't remark on the food - ambience is great and coffee is brilliant.
L. M.
World class coffee! How good is this place!? They consistently pump out excellent coffee and interesting food. The baristas here are really at the top of their game. I consider it one of the best cafes I have come across anywhere in the world.
R. H.
Very good coffee here. I ordered a flat white with almond milk and they made it perfect. It is very hard to make coffee with almond milk as it does separate and doesnt froth as well as cows milk. But they were able to overcome these boundaries and make a good cuppa.
D. F.
One of the best coffee in Sydney with cold brew and filter coffee as well. Good food and a great place to eat now they have expanded their space having more seats available.
A. W.
I can say this has the nicest service in my 7 day Sydney trip!!!
And the very nice coffee of course.
h. k. D.
Never disappoints.. excellent coffee, great food.
原.
Perfect atmosphere. Good coffee.Less detailed menu. I hate coriander which was in my dish. They could at least put it on the menu since it has a quite strong flavor.
A. E.
Coffee was okay, but the saviour for the five stars was the breakfast roll. Whatever that chutney/relish/mayo combo is, is out of this world!
T. C.
Great coffee. Really Great coffee.
Food wasn’t bad. Seating is on the pavement with a fairly decent wait (Sunday morning).
Food was pretty good, but nothing like the coffee.
Would go again
T. d. C.
These guys are serious & passionate about their coffee & breakfasts. Had the best coffee in Sydney here & even bought some beans to take home. Also the breakfasts I had were so inspired & amazing taste sensations. Will always come here on my Sydney trips.
Z. K.
Few places make me impressed when it comes to coffee shops and this seems to have been an extraordinary place. The location is a bit hard to get to from the Sydney CBD area, but worth the visit - took me 30 mins walk from the central CBD area.
I think overall the coffee was very good and the staff very attentive and nice.
Banana Bread with the espresso butter is delicious, and their other breakfast options look nice as well.
Def try this place out since it is located in a cool neighborhood and serves up some very good roasts...
N. G.
Coffee shop in Surry.
Incredibly busy on the weekends so be prepared for a wait.
Service is good and the coffee is good, great spot if the weather permits.
Food is average but you are not visiting a place named Single O for their food.
K. C.
As you would expect the coffee here is excellent. The sparkling water on tap is a bonus.
The food menu is somewhat limited but is of a very high quality and always delicious. There is always an unexpected wonderful surprise when they change the menu.
V. D.
I was silly enough to be there at peak times when there was a huge line to get coffee and that's when cafe's break out the 4 liter frothing jug. Needless to say my strong cappuccino had no foam so it was just like simply adding milk to an espresso.
I may give it another shot later on if I happen to pass by again because the place does have amazing amount of positive reviews.
T. K.
Amazing breakfast place with great coffee and modern ambience. Their breakfast dishes are very delicious and I can nightly recommend their banana bread!
T.
Will 100% be coming back. Amazing friendly service and incredible food and coffee. Keep it up guys.
A. L.
Delicious local cafe with great coffee, meals and baked goods (including my favourite almond croissants from Tuga!).
Perfect for takeaway coffee or dining in.
R. C.
Great coffee. Really nice and friendly service. Busy on a Sunday morning. No Skim Milk. Baby Chino's are good value as they come in a regular sized cup.
B. I.
Busy coffee shop at surryhill area. Recommended
Y. S.
Food was pretty good, chai latte was really good.
R. I.
We just stumbled on this cafe on our way to another one for breakfast and we're so glad we stopped here instead. We had the avocado and feta with sweet potato hommus and sopressa toastie and they were both amazing! The staff were very friendly and coffee was great. Will definitely come back when we are in Sydney next. Please open a cafe in Melbourne! 🙏🏻
j. p.
Had a flat white and avo toast this morning. The flat white was very blend; no depth of flavour and the milk was not properly frothed. Rather than being silky it just tasted like hot milk. The avo toast was ok, but abit confused; for me, none of the elements worked together. And avo toast needs a poached egg.
Not a terrible place and the price is comparable to other places in Sydney. But I am not sure why it holds the crown of Sydney’s best coffee.
C. P.
Food was good, atmosphere and music were on point, but service was lacking. Had to ask for coffee twice, it then arrived after the food. I was also brought the wrong bill at the end. Not a nightmare, but not great. Others also seemed to be having problems. Maybe just the Saturday crew taking it a bit too easy
E. D. V. M. I.
Had an amazing salad and a delicious Kenya pour over. The staff were incredibly friendly and the environment enjoyable. After asking if there was a time limit at the cafe because of limited seating, I was told that I could stay as long as I wanted so I read for about an hour and a half. Very much recommend
K. V.
I really enjoyed coming here. I am new to finding what beans and blends I like more. I’m exploring double ristrettos and espressos and trying to find the origin I like more. Oliver was really informative and patient and kind. Once I explained what I thought I liked he was able to make me something for my taste. Yummo (usually hipsters make me feel inferior. That was not the case here.)
I appreciate their ceramics and effort to halve their disposable waste.
My husbands double shot flat white was weak though. Sorry.
T. I.
Obscenely good coffee, criminally good croissant and lovely service. One of the guys today helped me select beans for my home stove top, super helpful and friendly.
N. S.
One of best breakfast and coffees in Sydney. We were in Sydney for 2 weeks exploring city and good food ... we made sure to revisit Single O Surry Hills for breakfast. Mothership Bowl and Avo toast is a must have
S. T.
Awesome coffee, fantastic service. Food was great, all round great experience and would return!
J. C.
Super friendly staff, good food, great coffees
E. T.
Great coffee, cute, quirky atmosphere. The staff are always so friendly and the food is yummy. I wish all cafes put as much thought and effort in to the food and atmosphere as this place does.
L. G.
Visited this place on a weekday morning, wonderful vibe along the corner with lots of cafes and teeming city life and poeple catching up on breakfast. Surprised to find the place jam packed. Albeit tiny, the place doesn't fail to impress, with cozy interiors and the warmth of demeanor. I was greeted by a young gentleman at the coffee machine, who helped me select my coffee-of the wide variety that they have - from tazanyan to Kenyan and Columbian. I settled in for the Kenyan coffee-from Kormut, Kenya - flavoured as complex black plum and currant with sweet stwewed tomato. Truly innovative. The single origin roasters - popularly called the single o ' is a wonderful place to visit for a good breakfast at the start of a beautiful day.
The banana bread was a delight too, much savoury.
D. B.
Incredible coffee. Incredible people.
Visited on a Saturday morning and they were PACKED. But they handled it like champs. It’s a brilliant use of space tucked away in Surry Hills.
E. L.
Great coffee (I had both an espresso and a single-origin drip coffee). My sandwich had tender slices of rare beef with a novel carrot and vanilla reduction and salad; pretty nice, but not particularly interesting on the whole.
M. Y. T.
Had the crispy skin salmon and it was very nicely cooked. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Coffee was top notch as well. Just managed to get there before a crowd built up at 9am.
A. L.
Great concept and coffee. Food was good. Avo toast dish really didn’t have enough avo on it to be called an avo dish, most things over powered the important part...... the avo
C. W.
We were lucky and got in quite quickly (rainy day brunch), but on a usual day be prepared for a bit of a wait. Worth it though, the food looked and tasted delicious and the coffee was great.
S. H.
While I was staying in Sydney, this place became my brekky local, due to its amazing food and coffee. Their staff are super friendly and welcoming. Next time I’m down in Sydney, I’ll definitely be stopping in!
Q. H.
They use different coffee beans on different days, so always something new to taste. Also the lunch menu is nice and not overpriced.
E. T.
Best coffee I tried in Sydney!
C. C.
If there is one thing you should know about discovering speciality coffee,
The guys who invented the blend, will always do it better than the people who “just” buy it of.
What makes a place do good coffee is a real of solid baristas.
And the most difficult part for business is making the place busy.. busy means regular orders and fresher beans..
I won’t drink Single O from anywhere else, especially if the barista aren’t trained at a diploma level of coffee.
Single Origin Surry Hills, seem to kill it in the coffee scene,.
It’s top 10 Coffee shops for menu Sydney based on W.O.M
J. G.
Great place to get your morning coffee fix and a pastry to go with it. On the Weekends the place is quite packed and the wait time is long because of limited seating inside and outside. Still love the place.
D. F.
Fair play Single O. I was not disappointed by your coffee. Balanced flavour and not too bitter, also at a perfect temperature (which is so often missing from cafes). Worth a short journey to check out.
M. J.
Food is delicious, but the coffee is the real drawcard of this surry hills hub. Whether you want to have cold drip coffee, a latte or stock up on freshly roasted beans you gotta head over to Single O.
P.
Cafe popular with the tourist crowd so expect to wait. Great food and use of indigenous ingredients. Superb coffee. Friendly staff, however customer service can be a bit hit and miss. Pricey $$$.
R. M.
Nice coffee but I think I finished the small in 2 sips. You can get much better tasting and portioned breakfast elsewhere for the price. Nice ambience but probably won’t return.
N. S.
One of the best cappuccinos I've ever had, hands down. Bacon roll is delicious too
W. B.
Very decently priced coffee, with an excellent taste! The baristas here were very friendly, and the coffee was ready very quickly. I definitely recommend this place for the coffee, and I have heard the food is petty good too!
F. M.
Love the food here. The coffee is excellent but the baristas can get a little wanky about it. Popular place for coffee so there's a bit of a wait at busy times like morning and lunch. Great place for breakfast and lunch.
J. E.
Top choice, seven years and still going strong. House blends and rotating single origin beans well purveyed, drinks poured with care and attention (from syphon to cold drip to macchiato). The food is inventive too, and the selection of daily muffins a nice accompaniment to well brewed coffee.
M. C.
What's good? The coffee is very good, the service was exceptional, and the vibe was nice. Even though they had a small setup on the sidewalk due to remodeling, we enjoyed it very much.
C. F.
Friendly and attentive staffs.
The food was both tasty and fresh The vibe was relaxed and happy. great coffee as well
V. F.
Cool cafe, but perhaps it can be a bit too busy for it's own good. Didn't have enough menus so we had to wait for a menu, and they got the coffee orders wrong. They were very apologetic and gave us free coffee.
J. B.
Single O? More like multiple O!
Great coffee (seriously top end presentation, great batch brews and pour overs, espressos are great too), extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff and the brisket roll will rock your socks off.
5/5, keep up the good work homie g's
B. -. K.
One of my favourite coffee shops in Surry Hills! The coffee and service is always exceptional and I’ve never had any problem getting a table even when I’m there just for a cup of coffee.
V. G.
One of the girls working there was quite rude. Very busy, ended up squished at the ‘bar’.
Also a bit over priced- $5.50 for a SMALL extra shot soy latte ....but it was good coffee
N. S.
Awesome coffee! Best cap I’ve ever had?
Friendly service too. Food was ok. I had the ribs on a bun. The meat was a little tough.
C. M.
We always make an effort to visit Single O when we travel to Sydney. Some of the best coffee in the country (probably in the world), and great food.
J. P.
Single Origin Roasters, in operation for over 10 years, located on the city side of Surry Hills makes a great cappuccino. The cappuccino is on the light side, not a dark roast, but still pleasing. You may want to request a 2x shot if you like a stronger coffee flavour.
J. F.
Great coffee but the last few times I have been before and after Christmas they have had no retail beans to buy, and required repeated visits to get what I wanted.
D. P.
Great coffee. Full points for separating out the take away from the dine in. Worth making an effort to get a coffee here. Despite the menu being short, it's usually very good.
K.
Great coffee. Good service - they had mixed up my order by were very apologetic about it and genuinely. We can't get everything perfect by customer service and attention was top notch!
Thanks
M. Q.
Well there's lots of great photo reviews. I found out about this cafe through a posting by Time Out Magazine People's Choice Awards. It's on my list to come and visit soon. Watch this space for a full review.
M. L.
Amazing service. We had the avo toast with hummus and labneh and it was out of this world. They serve tasty coffee as well. Would definitely go back.
H. A. W.
Small café with really great coffee. Their salad bowl is great. Their outdoor seating is quite relaxing and an ideal place for a weekend meal.
c. m.
Rustic mornings at Single O Surry Hills is my fav.. the staff and coffee is amazing. The goal is to reach 100% reusable cups.. and they told me “we will fill up anything” ! What a bunch of GREAT people they all are, today they filled my PINEAPPLE!! See Instagram post BlissNMayCo for pics.🍍🙏❤️😁.
O. A.
Great coffee and food. You may need to wait for a table but the wait is worthy
B. T.
One of the best coffee shops in Sydney which satisfy most (if not all) the good criteria of a coffee shop in the tech/hipster mecca known as "Surry Hills".
First things first, you can definitely have confidence in ordering a macciatto or short/long black here.
They also have good food here.
There is a place to sit.
Also accepting of cards can be handy (although would be even awesome if you can part some bitcoins for coffee).
and finally, it actually opens on Saturday so anyone can come here no matter where they work/live. Being close to Central station is another advantage.
D. W.
Coffee was not actually to my liking. A bit too "light", if u will. But can't deny the freshness out of every sip. And i couldnt take my eyes off the black ceramic mugs. Exquisite!
Always bustling esp in a saturday morning. Might be a wait for tables but their friendly stuff will help you out. Hundreds of thanks.
M. G.
Great coffee. Despite the number of people people lining up to place their order - I got my flat white quite quickly. Great taste
N.
Such a cute shop fit-out. Great coffee, unique menu and staff were super friendly. Definitely recommend.
M. V.
Not bad. Solid coffee and food. A bit pokey inside but it's not necessary a negative.
Was a bit sad because I thought the bulk brewed coffee was unlimited refills, seemed.worded that way on the menu. Be warned - it is not!
C. T.
This place is becoming famous for a reason, the coffee is probably the best you'll ever try. Service is great, coffees about $3.50 and food is luscious but a bit expensive. Try at least one coffee and you'll be back. And they put on a good show at Christmas.
J. S.
Staff are friendly, great little nook on the corner. Quaint little bathroom was nice enough. Coffee was good. Was able to chat with other customers easily. Food was nice and reasonably priced
E. K.
Been here more than 10 times, and ALWAYS have an outstanding experience. THEIR COFFEE IS THE BEST!
Service: 9/10
Coffee: 10/10
Food: 9/10
Ambiance: 9/10
Design: 9/10
Kids Friendly: Yes
M. P.
The best damn Costa Rican I’ve ever had (best coffee I’ve ever had at that). Awesome vibe - loved standing on the street, sipping my coffee and taking it all in. Great way to start the day.
R. M. M.
Very nice coffee, locate at quiet street
Have different coffee beans to choose
S. L.
Very enjoy my experience. Pleasant indoor design and food quality is good. The staff also very patient when I need to change my order. Thank you and recommending to future customers.
N. N.
The best coffee in town! Super friendly staff! Also the best coffee you can get in Carriageworks market on Saturdays!
Z. M.
Always a great place to catch up, good menu and coffee. Trendy location close to central.
C. W.
Fabulous coffee and a really great vibe. Service is fast - even if there is a big takeaway queue, service is fast at a table. Highly recommended.
B. N.
Definitely the best coffee around. More food choice is all I ask. The service can be too cool for school but who cares if the coffee is good right.
V. X.
The team here takes their coffee seriously. It’s a great place to grab a coffee and their cafe next door serves up a killer banana bread with the house-made espresso butter. FYI, they’re not open on weekends.

Great coffee and friendly staff. Willing to aspst if your unsure about what beans to buy. I wish they had a bigger selection of the beans available here but I might have gone at a bad time too.
T. S.
Great place, i always order my coffee from here it only takes two days to get it delivered highly recommend 👌
J. M.
My local fav with the best coffee in the area. Great gluten free options (no joke best gf bread in Syd) & really friendly service. I could eat the Mothership bowl every day!👌🏼
D. C.
The single origin roasters is the single best place to get a single origin roast. I like Shoji, the Japanese barista master who really knows how to brew. It was a bit squeezed to find a seat, but the service was great. The food was top-notch but a little $$'y.
L. Z.
Definitely my favourite coffee place in Sydney. Menu is a little too healthy to my liking but really good regardless
D. M.
Really excellent coffee and service. Food looked delicious but we didn’t order as we didn’t have enough time to sit and eat
M. P.
Having recently moved from Melbourne this place is the only place satisfying my need for decent coffee. Amazing cold drip and great customer service. Lucky enough to work around the corner.
S. A.
Really quick and great customer service on their online shop! Plus, amazing coffee!
R. B.
Excellent coffee and service. Warm on a crisp Saturday morning. A must visit for coffee connoisseur’s. We will definitely be back.
C. H. Y.
My first google review ever! Great coffee, delicious food and fantastic customer service with kind hearts. Thank you again! :)
T. M.
Great place for breakfast. Coffee is always excellent as you would expect, even better is the Mothership bowl - best way to start the day!
P. R.
Absolutely my favourite cafe. Love the coffee and the foods. I have been back many times and just love it.
W. W.
The coffee is really delicious!!! If you love in coffee, you must to come here.
There is not only offer the nice coffee but also have the handsome staffs in the shop.
D. F.
Very nice place, even if very tiny. Kind service and food delicious.
T. H.
Great , wholesome food (UFO bowl for me and Avo on Rye for my partner), amazing coffee, great and friendly service. Excellent location, just outside the hustle of the CBD.
P. S.
Nice food and coffee here.. must try...!
야.
Perfect. Coffee is little bit sour. But I like it
A. L.
Super friendly and helpful staff with a great bean selection. Only detractor would be that most of the seating is outdoors. Much better for catch ups but not the most ideal for remote work.
L. N.
Above Average coffee. Friendly staffs. Delicious food. Fun relaxing atmosphere. It can get quiet busy in the morning though.
A. V.
The coffee is as expected, brilliant. Food is great too, Eggplant katsu roll was delish
s. l.
Fantastic service and amazing coffee. Very well priced: a long black and an iced latte with soy was only $9!!!
K. T.
Would have given this 5 stars a few years ago but there are so many other places these days. The coffee is good. It's really busy at the takeaway area.
P.
Had a cup of flat white, was good! Also brought some beans back to my country Taiwan, my family also like it!
M. J.
If you're looking for top notch coffee, food and service - look no further. Single O is one of if not the best places for all the above.
E. W.
My favourite coffee in Surry Hills. I have a bag of the reservoir blend at home. The breakfast bowl is delicious too.
C. L.
Awesome coffee and food, hidden gem, if you’re in the area definitely stop in 👌
T. L.
I couldn't see the name of the Cafe so I walked past it. The steak was nicely presented, not just thrown together. Excellent coffee.
D. B.
Bottomless batch brew! Great food and top notch coffee
C. W.
My favourite cafe in the city! Not only do they have amazing coffee and food but also fantasticly friendly workers
C. K.
Declious food and incredible coffee 😍 best coffee I have tasted in a while! Also loved the vibe
B. S.
A wonderful place to meet with the team for breakfast and chat. Perfectly proportioned, not too crammed in, the service was outstanding and food delicious. Will be back!
J. r.
My husband and I went here today and both had a great coffee and were served by such friendly staff. We will be coming back here again
K.
Ambience is good. All time busy
J. C.
Good coffee and a rather large seating option. Frequent attendee, though would love to see them bring the savoury muffins back!
J. G.
Great coffee and food!
J. C.
Great food! Excellent coffee! Lovely staff :) The croissants are some of the best in Sydney
T.
All around great brunch spot!
M. G.
Always a vibe! Great coffee and food
E. J. T.
Best coffee. Doesn’t burn the milk. Makes an art of it
A. F.
Really enjoy the coffee and food. However, could do without the judgmental attitude when ordering with some of the staff.
J. K. S.
Perfect coffee, popular location, incredible food combinations, polite and efficient staff. Couldn't have asked for a better combo! Grazie
D. K.
Something of an oddity this place. it feels like a coffee cart, because, although they have premises, you can't go in and there are just a few places to sit outside. Come for the coffee, but try the Reservoir Dogs too. Messy but awesome.
B. K.
LOVELY service, thanks so much guys! Had their bowl with veggies and pouched eggs - really yummy! Next time I'll try the one with miso dressing ;)
Y. M.
At first I was a bit discouraged by the intricate details of ingredients on the menu... But then I just picked the motherload bowl and it was bloody brilliant! Highly recommend going with someone who is going to pay for your share because it's a bit pricey.
W. Q.
Had a latte and a bacon and eggs set. The latte was milky and foamy and was a pleasant drink on a cool morning. The eggs and home cured bacon went well with the sourdough bread. Service was also prompt and friendly.
j. m.
One of my favourite roasters after Patricia, St Ali, and proud Mary 💕 do recommend. Delicious blends
M. S.
Really nice place to have good breakfast in the morning. I ordered winter egg- expected to have it as a warm dish 😁 however warm was only one egg, but it was tasty 👌🏻
J. W.
Great coffee friendly staff
A. M.
Great coffee and service with Oatly milk available which is the best Oat milk around. Love the filter tap options.
B. D.
These guys are coffee gurus! Coffee is always on key here. Try one of their rotating single origins it won't disappoint! Food is also a drawcard grab an outside table and watch the world go by.
S. O.
Really like the coffee, the food, even their cups. My only negative was their refrigerated sandwiches on the menu. Their hot food, or freshly prepared food, was all great, but those sandwiches weren't great.
A. G.
Fabulous Cafe with a welcoming vibe. Meal was excellent, as was the coffee. I look forward to my next visit!
D. G.
Only had a coffee, but it was excellent. Food that passed by looked great. Service very good.
A. M.
Great coffee and service with Oatly milk available which is the best Oat milk around. Love the filter tap options.

Great coffee and great food. Single O stands tall above some of the best cafes in Sydney.
J. D.
Best coffee in Sydney hand down. Amazing food too
J. K.
This place may be one of my favourite place.
Food was average for me but Great coffee great vibes and staff as well. Thanks a lot!
R. T.
The wait is absolutely worth it! Grab a coffee while you wait and enjoy the people watching opportunities. Highly recommend the Mothership Bowl
A. G.
One of the best coffee roasters in Sydney. Rivals Seven Seeds. Very impressive single origins made in every way you can imagine.
R. H.
For the home barista the Yeehah blend is 10/10. Absolutely love it!
L. S.
Great affogato and very friendly service. They have outdoor seating where you can relax, sip coffee and watch the world go by.

P. S.
Great service! Best Granola dish I've ever tasted. nice work :)
P. L.
Two visits in two days for takeaway coffee. Great coffee guaranteed. Will return. Price was fine and easy service at the takeaway window. Busy but little wait.
H. U.
Wonderful coffee. Syrup-y sweet double ristretto. Lovely staff gave me my coffees for free because I bought beans.
N. V.
Good coffee, food was nice, pricing fair for the area . Popular place and I see why
E. F.
I know Single O is hipster AF but I love it. The coffee is delicious, the food is even better and service is always professional and helpful.
M.
Great place! Large selection of coffee, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Top
M. C.
The place for espresso in Surry Hills.
Bustling open air cafe with speciality coffee roasts.
Great friendly staff who know their stuff.
R. D. P.
Definitely one of the best in Sydney
C. B.
Great coffee, delicious food, lovely staff. Plus they have blankets to ward off the chill!
M.
An institution for a reason. It's all about the coffee and the coffee is great. Simple food that compliments hot black liquid served in a multitude of ways.
G. L.
Beautifully consistent coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.. What more could you want? Oh, they do a great breakfast too! Bonus!
章.
I had been here for several times, it is a good spot for brunch. Love the bacon egg roll, It is crispy and yummy!
