Comments of Some Cafe

Lovely little Cafe. The pumpkin muffin was delicious, my friend thoroughly enjoyed the baked cheesecake. Melt in the mouth delicious. Must visit. Highly Recommended ☆☆☆☆☆

Dropped by Some Cafe in Collector for a quick breakfast on the way to Canberra. Cosy cafe with simple menu, serving good food and great coffee with friendly service. We also picked up few bottles of wine as well. Recommeded and will definitely visit again.

Great place! Very cozy, the staff is very nice and attentive, and the food is amazing! Very well served, delicious and it's not expensive! We loved it. Highly recommended!
P. W.
I had breakfast there yesterday. The cafe is beautifully set out. The coffee was really nice and the toastie was delicious. I've never been there before but I'd definitely come back for a morning trip or lunch at some point.
P. L.
We had great coffee and lunch, no complaints even though we turned up five minutes before the kitchen closed. Beef burgers were really nice but the zucchini and pea fritters were superb. Heaps of different spots to sit, we enjoyed our spot on the verandah. We overheard three other groups saying how good their coffee was 🙂

Wonderful crunchy peanut butter on crispy sour dough and green sencha tea. Some cafe offers a little variety of well put together bites for breakfast or lunch. We also had the veggie dingo: halloumi fried with a soft egg, and homemade tomato relish. Biteable, tasty heaven. Sorry I forgot to get the pics. This one is of lake George, with water for the first time in years. And the black swans are back.

I don’t really understand why this place has such a great reputation. It’s nothing special as far as I can discern: coffee and food I had were adequate but not impressive. Perfectly good place to stop between Goulburn and Canberra, or if you’re in the area, but certainly not somewhere to go out of your way for, as I did and the rating suggests it is. The biggest selling point I can see is that they have a lot of outdoor seating.
M. B.
Worth a stop if you need some refreshments. Was a good place to stop and I had a great iced coffee. The burger patty was a bit dry though. Cakes were good!

Every time I drive to or from Canberra I make sure I go off the highway to visit Some Cafe in Collector (and I'm from Brisbane). Collector itself is worth a visit. A visit that is topped off by a meal at Some Cafe. The food offered is simple but delicious. A sad day was when I rolled into Collector and found Some Cafe (and the whole village) was closed due to an electricity outage.
Ya gotta try it!

We stopped by near close and staff were really nice. We got an Anzac Slice and brownie which were both good. Brownie was delicious, lucky we got the last one :)
C. K.
Its cosy and unique. Its refreshing to visit there and gave a little break on the way to Sydney. Sadly there was no seat inside so had to sit outside in cold weather.. but the food and coffee were good.

Some Cafe in Collector is a little old heritage cottage inn turned cafe in what might be in an unexpected location, off the main highway to Canberra in a little country street, but a good stop on your way in or out of Canberra.
They serve breakfast, lunch, coffee and homemade cakes, 5 days a week. A cute and cosy little house with a fireplace, so it is warm and comfortable to enjoy your meal. It is essentially a paddock to plate philosophy, selling tasty food using local free-range eggs, Three Mills Bread, Pialligo meat and locally grown fruit and veg. We tried the Dingo burger; a hash brown and egg roll w house ketchup & mayo for only $10. Our mate @where_do_i_eat_pete enjoyed their version of the Shakshuka - soft eggs in a spicy tomato & capsicum sauce topped w feta & served w rye. I loved the “Greeny” - Green tahini, fresh tomato, poached egg & house dukkah on rye sourdough w lemon & herb salad. A healthy and refreshing dish that was great with a squirt of lemon. They also have a range of cakes in the front window, Anzac slice, brownies and friands . A good cup of coffee here using beans from Single O and the barista can pour a good cup of latte art too. Whilst there we also did a wine tasting at the attached door open for tastings and the purchasing of wine at Collector Wines. Their cool climate wines are produced by winemaker Alex McKay.

Charming little cafe. Food was yum and portions were generous. Coffee was great! Strongly recommend!!
G. T.
Awesome Cafe makes a good half way point between Cooma and Sydney
Great coffee and lunches
Great Vegie burger too
P. S.
Probably the best little café on your way from Sydney to Canberra or to the snow. In fact it’s almost exactly halfway between Sydney and the ski fields. Collector is a sweet little town a minute off the highway. The owners have done this well - nice atmosphere including a fire place in Winter. The food was simple, but just what you need when traveling. The coffee was good, but not genius. Just tipped the overall rating down to 4 from 5 stars for me. Will definitely try Some Cafe again on my next trip and give them another go.
M. H.
Love this place. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, great food. As well as the cafe, there's a cellar door selling excellent Collector wine. You can taste before you buy. I bought the Marsanne, Chardonnay and Gruner Veltliner. They also have a shed out the back, selling quality local produce, such as organic vegetables, handmade soaps, sauces etc.
m. n.
It's quite astonishing that you can get possibly the best coffee between Sydney and Canberra in the tiny village of Collector! I make it a definite stop anytime I'm passing along that stretch of highway, whether on the way to Canberra or the Snow, a call into "Some Cafe" is a must. Apart from great coffee, they bake delicious cakes and pastries and although I've never had a meal there, I would assume the savoury food is good too. I had the pictured sausage roll on the way back to Sydney and it was the last one, so probably sitting there a bit longer than neccessary but still tasty with the home made tomato sauce.
J. K.
Charming cafe which makes a great stop on the way to Sydney. Really delicious gluten free egg & hash brown burger.
J. E.
Great location, great food and great people.
There is a limited menu but is very delicious and stocked full of cakes/slices options.
The coffee was fantastic and beautifully presented. A true coffee artist through crafting the look while mastering the taste. An absolutely delightful experience and i look forward to returning next time.
Y. C.
Gorgeous cafe at half way before Canberra , good coffee. always stop here to have a rest from driving
G. R.
Wonderful cafe full of great food and character. Staff friendly and helpful. Wine tasting also available in the adjoining tasting room.
R. N.
Friendly staff serving caked, coffees teas and light meals. Big range of jams, preserves and wines for sale too 🤟
M. M.
We always look forward to stopping at Some Cafe on our way to Canberra. The bacon and egg burger could be the best breakfast burger I've ever had. Yes a big call but if anyone can show me a better breakfast burger, please tell me where I can get this. The coffee and carrot cake are also excellent! Absolutely worth the stopover!
N. F.
Omg thank god for this place
What a delight
If you need a great tasting , real coffee (not Canberra standard ) then pop off the highway and try it for yourself
In the historic town of Collector the handmade goods and friendly staff will make it such a pleasant stop.
Can't wait to come back this is definitely one of my top picks to stop at when driving down the federal highway

Best coffee I've had all year! Delicious food and really friendly service. So glad I stopped here on my trip between Canberra and Sydney, gorgeous cafe.
L. L.
What a great little find!! A beautiful country cottage with fabulous Single O coffee, lovely cakes and friendly staff! Why wouldn’t you!???
J. H.
Such a great option just 2 minutes off the highway. Whether it's a break from driving somewhere further away or just the destination itself for brunch or lunch on a weekend.
K. Q.
Cute coffee shop with delicious and generous serves of cake and great coffee. Worth the slight detour on the way to Canberra
B. J.
A little bit expensive but was well worth stopping in the BNE was so good and maybe the best brownie I've ever had
J. B.
Beautiful coffee and delicious simple breakfast menu and baked treats. Great little find off the highway. I’ve driven past Collector several hundred times over the past 20 years and always wanted to stop and take a look. Glad a I finally did to find this cafe.
L. B.
Must stop at! Quaint country town and absolutely incredible food & coffee. Loveliest staff too :)
B. M.
12/12/21 Back again with my beautiful wife. She loved the home made fresh food and cakes. No Sydney processed cakes here. Coffee is good. 1 point for the husband's choice! Phew. Worth the detour off the Hume Hwy.
9/2019 Glad we stopped in Collector. This Cafe was great. Good coffee and fabulous food. Take a moment to stop and enjoy. Peaceful and quiet.
C. O.
A lovely little escape from Canberra, nice pasteries and coffee
R. C.
Amazing cafe to stop at if you’re nearby. Friendly staff, delicious lunch food – the BLT was perfect – and a cellar door for Collector Wines too. The outdoor seating area has a lovely garden and is great when it’s nice and sunny.
A. V.
Great coffee, better food. Great staff. Very relaxed and comfortable setting. Highly recommend!
S. B.
Nice little arrangement, tucked away from the highway. Very nice and amazing food.
M. L.
Great country desserts and coffee, a bit of bush ranger history (Ben Hall)
A. S.
Good Coffee and Friendly service. The 'Dingo' breakfast sandwich was excellent. Recommended.
S. S.
Beautiful building, great coffee, cakes and staff. Well worth the minor diversion from the Hume or even a trip from Canberra if you are a foodie. We left with an armful of homemade jams too.
A. T.
Love it. Hipster cafe in collector. Great cakes and coffee. Have been twice. Coffee was great both times. Historic building make and excuse.
F. B.
One of the best cafes I've ever been too. The coffee is amazing, the menu is simple, and the food is fantastic. Some Cafe is worth the trip 100%.
I. B.
A wonderful gem of a Cafe, do not pass up an opportunity to visit. Coffee is good, all the food has a home made touch, and much of it is locally produced. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff make for a great experience. Keep in mind they are not open every day of the week!
W. A.
The best long black I have tried in a while. I’m a coffee lover. I’ve tried many places. The coffee here is one of the best. Keep it up. Go back definitely.
J. B.
Aside from the amazing name, the food and coffee is 11/10
R. M.
I really liked Some Cafe. I popped in there after also previously popping by and having a great coffee. This time it was 11 minutes to close and I knew there'd be little if no food to grab. I asked in a wan hope if there *was* anything and the reply was "could knock you up a toastie?". I'm grateful they did. The toastie was made using fresh produce and homemade bread. Brilliant.
Nice folks, great food and coffee and time seems to stop while you're there. All the hallmarks of a great journey pit stop. Highly recommended.
D. M.
Friendly happy service and excellent food - the fritters were really yummy.
S. C.
Excellent. A real find. Interesting, tasty menu. Really good staff. Choice of seating - indoor, verandah or outside in the sun.
C. H.
Coffee is worth a stop on your drive back to the city. It was the busiest place in Collector.
L. M.
My favourite place to stop for a delicious toastie and coffee :)
d. l.
Great coffee, super tasty food and cosy..
C. M.
Such a gorgeous little cafe! So glad we went to Some Cafe. Delightful garden setting and the food was amazing! We enjoyed the avo on toast. Highly recommend for a lovely place to eat lunch on way to Canberra.
W. B.
A little gem of a historic place in Collector that has delicious food, cakes, hot drinks and Pumpkin scones. Place your order first then find a table in-doors or outdoors. Toilets near picnic area.
You'll see the signs on the Federal Hwy so if you are not in a hurry and want to relax and enjoy a meal, snack or drink take the turn off to Collector to Some Cafe.
E.
Beautiful old building with lots of history. The cafe looks gorgeous and was quite impressed. The staff seemed quite nervous and quiet but nonetheless polite. Loved the carrot cake, banana bread and the coffees were fabulous. Will eagerly return soon!
A. O.
My impressions of Collector go back to our annual family trip from Wollongong to Canberra in the 70's. It seemed like the middle of nowhere, and definitely not a food destination. Then a while back my friend, a real food/coffee/wine lover from the cafe belt in Inner Sydney reported news of a fantastic cafe in Collector. I was incredulous, but when my sister-in-law from Jindabyne, another regular traveler to Wollongong and with an eye for excellent cakes, reported the same thing I knew we had to check it out. The reports were on the money, it's a wonderful cafe and we'll worth seeking out. Definitely the best banana bread I've ever had!
D. J.
Perfect pit stop between Sydney and Canberra. Lovely treats, great coffee and sweet building.
R. N.
A pleasant cafe with a good range of eating and drinking options. Outdoor seating available.
Friendly staff, and quick service.
S. W.
My 9 year old son has reviewed the Some café as one of the best cafes in the world. We are lucky enough to have this little gem in our very own village, which leads him to the next suggestion of leaving my job and getting a job at one of the best cafes in the world. If you are traveling between Canberra and Sydney this is well worth the stop (even if I am a little biased), and grabbing a coffee and a bite to eat (from one of the best cafes in the world)
R. S.
Great atmosphere, excellent cakes and delicious food!
J. H.
GR8 coffee, slow service, packed out at the counter, not enough people to serve. Would be better to move customers through and improve turnover. Typical coffee shop, take your order & money then let you stand around like a drongo.
H. A.
Nice Cafe on the way from Canberra to Sydney in the little village of collector in a historic site. Nice coffee and really enjoyed the sweets. Highly recommend the Anzac slice, the Pistachio and Apricot slice as well as the Lemon slice!!
T. D.
Excellent coffee, cool calm little place. Do recommend!
J. H.
Being a Saturday and I was travelling with time a factor it didn't suit me at the time but will call again when I am in the area.
M. K.
Great little stopover spot and best egg and bacon rolls, evah!!!!
G. F.
Great Coffee, great banana bread, friendly staff, after Sunday morning bike ride.
K. A. (. M. O. V.
Driving from Cooma to Sydney saw a little sign on the highway. Normally I stop in Goulburn but I’m always looking for something new. This is fantastic. Quiet little cafe in a small village. The best coffee in NSW. I’m from Melbourne, sorry it’s still the coffee capital but you are equal to it. Thanks for the chance to stop and enjoy a perfect coffee.
J. L.
A friendly little cafe with amazing toasties and great coffee.
D. C.
Great food and excellent service...this a little cafe at Collector just off the main road as you travel towards Goulburn.
The staff were run off their feet and still produced beautiful simple meals and great coffee......Thankyou to all the staff
H. A.
This is a really nice Cafe in Collector off Federal highway. We stopped on our way to Canberra for breakfast here. They have good variety of breakfast options. Everything we tried was really tasty. The staff is very friendly and courteous.
j. g.
Nice little cafe - cakes and tarts are amazing. Couldn't recommend highly enough - worth going to collector just for this cafe.
J. M.
Fabulous place to stop. Friendly, hard working staff. Great Allpress coffee, with a range of other great drinks. Delicious menu, with freshly made meals, delightful wraps and fresh baked desserts (caramel slice is out of this world) personal fave is the Dingo Roll: Fried Egg and Hash brown in a lovely, soft roll. Situated in a beautiful heritage cottage and only minutes off the highway, it's a must stop.
R. H.
Tasty healthy food, great coffee
R. T.
This place is the best cafe I've been to in and around Canberra. The good is delicious and always so fresh. Coupled with fast and friendly service from their staff it is a great place for either a quick drink or for a big meal with the family with some really tasty and unique combinations in baked goods and others
N. C.
Gorgeous little cafe that makes for the perfect stop travelling from Canberra. Delicious food, great coffee and service.
O. L.
This is one of those places that is so good you don't want to tell anyone because who wants crowds? But it's so good, you want everyone to know about it so they can enjoy it too .. such a dilemma.... We stopped by for brunch on a Goulburn run and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food. Service was fine and despite being busy, didn't take too long for the food to come. Both meals were excellent and my hit choc was as requested... The coffee was also well done. They had a selection of homemade cakes that looked pretty tasty... Next time!
G. S.
Fantastic bacon and egg roll, lovely service.
n.
Stopped for a quick coffee and stayed for a nice chat with the owners parents. Definitely do veer off the highway and grab a fresh coffee. The menu looked great judging by what some of the other patrons were eating.
S. C.
Great food, and staff were lovely
P. C.
Quick and friendly service and the food was delicious thank you
K. R.
Great coffee, treats, atmosphere and staff. A cosy stop!
I. M.
Good food and coffee with excellent disabled access. Food was a tad slow but well worth the wait. Some very tasty sugar free drinks as well as an opportunity to sample some local wines. Worth the detour of the Federal highway.
J. M.
Lovely staff, delicious fresh home made food, clean premises..much better lunch stop than junk food on our travels. Also strict with covid plan.
K. T.
Great pots of chai, hash brown egg rolls and huge fireplaces.
R. H.
GREAT coffee with a really clean and vibrant flavour. The food is also excellent quality and the staff are fun :)
S. W.
I heard it use to be the only grocery store in town. Turned business into cafe.
Absolutely lovely people and food. It's amazing to have modern food with higher quality than the city in such a small place.
Highly recommend to stop there, have a little visit to the town too.
L. F.
The coffee is lovingly prepared and mighty tasty. The food was simple but mainly because the owners were on holiday :-) The avocado on toast with house made dukkah was yummy and filling. They also had a cabinet full of tasty looking sweets, but I didn't sample them this time around.
The most exciting thing, for me, the city slicker, was the locals coming in and giving the cafe excess home produce like flowers and table grapes.
This is definitely a cafe worth visiting. I will come back!
H. D.
This place is excellent. It is not some where that technically serves coffee and food on the way to/from Canberra/Sydney. It serves excellent coffee and homemade baked goods and is just a ray of sunshine
J. F.
Great place to stop. Has great coffee, quick and friendly service. We both had shakshuka which was delicious. The egg in the shakshuka was perfect and the smoky flavour mixed with the subtle spice of the dish to be just delightful. And it's only 1km off the highway so it's not even a detour!
S. H.
Great place to stop off for a nice coffee ,snack or lunch
e. w.
-4 deg morning greeted by a hearty smile and an open fire. The food was good to Shakshuka done to perfection.
R. B.
High quality food and a beautiful aesthetic all in a wonderful, quiet spot just outside of Canberra. Only 5 minutes off the Federal Highway, this is one of the nicest highway stops I’ve ever been to. Definitely recommend!
C. J.
Great place to swing by for a light meal or refreshment. If you after a big meal then you may be a little disappointed. Atmosphere is great, staff are super friendly.
N. R.
Really good place to stop when on the road/driving the Hume. Small menu, but all tasty - highly recommend the chicken & leek pie. Good coffee and chai latte. Only let down was the carrot cake - walnuts were yummy but the icing was too sweet. Much prefer cream cheese icing with my carrot cake. Really nice staff/owners.
R. M.
Great food and coffee, beautiful interior decor, and cool artisanal items for sale. A true diamond in the rough worth stopping for every time.
H. S.
Such wonderful coffee! Such delicious cakes! And my lunch was perfection. Super friendly staff! I will definitely be making the trip out again soon. ❤
J. G.
The cafe has a very nice country style dining room, the staff were all very friendly, the service was good and I enjoyed a good home cooked style meal. Oh! Fogot! The pies are delicious.
M. T.
The best place to stop if you’re traveling between Sydney and Canberra. Food was great, although slightly limited selection and the coffee was excellent! The restaurant is attached to the collector cellar door which is handy for a sneaky wine tasting.
h. b.
Nourishing healthy tasty ethical food. Great coffee lovely service. 2 hot brekky, plus a coffee cake for the road $50. Worth the detour or worth the trip as the destination
R. E.
Have driven past on many occasions. Stopped today 3rd August. Just as Wilbur was Some pig, this cafe is Some Cafe, just a wonderful atmosphere and both Allison and I loved the food and coffee. Hopefully will visit again on our way to Snow and Canberra. Some Cafe!
R. D.
Ok enough coffee but nice place to stop. Suggest stopping here, very close to highway, clean toilets adjacent.
R. P.
Ordered the special of the day. They had run out and substituted something else without checking. Friendly staff, lovely space and the food is nice..but a bit frustrating with the lack of communication.
A. B.
Delightful cafe with a limited range of dining options. Wine too from Collector Wines (excellent) next door. Coffee looked great too.
B. J.
Great place to stop for a break. The coffee is great, and the food very tasty.
Country cafe at its best.
P. S.
Some Cafe is a great little place to stop for a coffee between Canberra and Goulburn. Great coffee and food and friendly, efficient staff make for an ideal place to stop for a break.
A.
Delicious food, excellent service and great coffee. We've been a few times and will be back. Next time you are travelling to Sydney and need a coffee, do yourself a favour and skip goulbourne and stop here instead.
S. D.
Well isn’t this just the loveliest café around! Such a beautiful place, excellent food and coffee. We spent over an hour in the café doing some computer work and having brekkie at 9am and it was pumping with locals and visitors alike. People were greeted on a first name basis and the experience was enough to make us want to move to Collector. Highly recommended.
T. M.
Service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and well priced. Would recommend if travelling in the area.
S. K.
We're here for the pumpkin festival so we had to try a pumpkin muffin. So delicious. Also good hot chocolate and chai latte and very quick and friendly service, even though it's very busy. Recommended.
C. a. V. (. &. V.
Some Cafe has put Collector on the map with a menu that draws on local produce. Coffee is by Allpress and it as good as any coffee you would get in Canberra. Loved the relaxed, chilled atmosphere of the cafe combined with friendly service.
L. S.
Your standard, reasonable quality inner Canberra cafe transported to a quiet rural village. Clean, whitewashed look in what was a home with many purposes over a century of use within a short walk of the ever interesting cemeteries. Better than hitting the crowded beer-swills of the more famous Bushranger Hotel up the road.
H. B.
Great little coffee shop. Friendly staff with awesome brekkie, coffees and treats.
A. R.
Good coffee, Good atmosphere. If you're coming for a casual coffee, I do recommend avoiding its busiest times - as many people do stop in on their way to/from sydney/canberra. Definitely worth a look in, though!
A. B.
I have eaten the ubiquitous avocado toast in cities and the country but this, hands down, was the best I've ever had. Generous with the avo, creamy feta, dukkha and really good toast.
S. B.
Quaint bit of history with many gifts for Christmas
B. C.
Great find just off the highway. Fantastic coffee and delicious gourmet toastie. Will definitely stop there next time we go to Canberra.
P. S.
Excellent produce made into delicious food.
M. C.
A very nice cafe in a heritage building in Collector. Good hot coffee and fresh cake. Friendly service. We will definitely return.

R. G.
Stopped here for brunch on the way home from Jindabyne. Would highly recommend this stop off, lovely cafe.

It is worth arriving early. Some Coffee is very popular.
My tip is to plan arriving early before it gets busy, especially on a Sunday.
D. C.
Great coffee, nice place to stop and have a break.
I. J.
Best ham and cheese toastie ever. Friendly staff. Nice place for a quiet rest stop a few minutes off the highway
M. H.
It's an average cafe, hence 3 stars. Average service, average food, limited menu. Nothing wrong specifically, but just no reason to choose this over any other cafe.
H. W. S.
A bit difficult to find but well worth the stop not only for the good food but the atmosphere. I had a chicken and leek pie well not a normal pie but something special in a ceramic pot. Great value
B. L.
