AMAZING SERVICE & FOOD! We own a local business and are loyal patrons of the Moody Chef. Our staff regularly eat breakfast and lunch there and we have used their catering services for years. The service is second to none - nothing is ever a hassle and the staff go above and beyond on every occasion. Our favourite item on the menu are their amazing burgers that are gourmet and cooked to perfection. You cannot get a better cheeseburger in the local area! Throughout COVID, the business was innovative and now offer incredible, fresh takeaway salad and home cooked meal options which are a real local favourite. Thank you Moody Team for always delivering the goods!

Best coffee in St Leonard’s and Crows nest area by far!!! You get the same friendly barista everyday, who makes the coffee exactly how you like it, consistency!! The cafe itself is a great setting for social and business meetings with plenty of space. Quality food with a full kitchen, bakery and burger menu also… It’s not hard to see why it’s so busy. The food and service at the Moody Chef was fantastic. We opted for the brunch board between two of us, which gave a taste of the most popular items. It was very substantial and filled us both up. The cafe was quite busy for our visit, as it does some of the nicest breakfast in the area. The coffee was good, but nothing to write home about, and the juice I had was super tasty but a bit overpriced (that's Sydney for you).

Went at around 2:15pm and unfortunately the kitchen was closed by then, but there were still some selection of wraps around so ordered a crispy chicken wrap instead. It was nice and quiet and the atmosphere was chill. Waitress was attentive as well. The wrap and the coffee was good, however it's a bit on the pricey end hence the three star. Just the wrap alone, as shown in the receipt as "Sambo", with no sides was $13.5 in the end (I should've asked for the price beforehand as it wasn't listed in the cabinet, so that was my bad)

Found this place when visiting a friend. So many options and a lot of healthy food on the menu that is reasonably priced. My personal favourite is the dairy free salmon bowl which is to die for. The coffee is always on point and always great service. Would recommend it to anyone AAA+

I accidentally found the Moody Chef in Atchison Street just off the highway. And what a discovery it was! I ordered a burger but it came with fries. Siobhan offered to replace that with a side salad. It was the juciest, most flavoursome burger I have had in a long time. The side salad was crisp and healthy. Do yourself a flavour favour and check this beauty out.

Great food and location (when the construction isn’t going on). Their breakfast platter is a great place to start if there’s two of you. The lamb shakshuka is divine on cold mornings and their juices are tasty (even if they’re not freshly made in store). Plus they do beer!! Staff are always helpful and as it’s not in Crows Nest or Pacific Highway, it’s quite a peaceful place. Lots of natural light.

I always love places that have multi uses. This cafe/function space is a nice variation to having a meeting / brainstorming session in a regular board room. The foods lovely, fresh and organic and the service is friendly. As a cafe I'd rate these guys closer to a 4. As a meeting venue a 3. Its quirky and cool but the service was slow and there's a but if noise from the kitchen. You're a bit 'out of sight' in the function room. For a casual team meeting it works well though.

My favourite thing about the moody chef is that the bathrooms are heated! It’s a fabulous place to dine in and have a coffee. I love eating there gourmet salads. There healthy juices will make you feel reenergised. There is a huge variety to choose from and everything is fresh and healthy! The only thing I didn’t like was the portion size of the salads compared to the price! But besides that I can’t complain...

Forget any negative reviews. I sometimes go in for a coffee and my wife goes here to do business. Yes it's a small place and yes, the menu is small but really that's the point. It is a nice place to go without all the fuss of Willoughby Rd noise and traffic. If you haven't had a good experience here, ask to speak to the owner, so that they can hear your complaints first hand, before you leave. Everybody can't be perfect, all the time and they can only deal with grievances, if you explain them, by being respectful while you do it.

The Moody Chef has tasty food. I've gone to both the satellite shop and the larger location in St. Leonards and always been satisfied with both the pre-made salads and pastries (all of the scrolls are to die for) and the mains I've tried at the larger sit-down restaurant. Their burgers are quite good, and the times I've had fish (not fish and chips) it's been fresh and well-cooked. At my most recent trip to the Moody Chef I was extremely disappointed with the service. It was slow, and we had to request nearly everything from someone - getting up and asking for menus, among other things. If you're looking for a speedy lunch, I wouldn't suggest sitting down.

An excellent local cafe institution for residents and business people in St Leonards. After living in St Leonards for a few years now this place is my local for coffee and that weekend bite to eat! For local residents in the 1-2 neighbouring streets they now do Saturday delivery to door orders which is a great service for the local community. Really appreciate the customer service and will definitely keep being a regular. -- I have been going to the Moody Chef for quite a while, appreciating the food and atmosphere as it is closeby my workplace and also convenient to take clients to. I was shocked today when calling to book a table to take a client out for lunch. Granted the line was not great but being said "You have to call back from a better line and not from INDIA" is not only inappropriate, sort of racist but also plain rude... Won't set foot in there ever again!

I used to love this cafe for Saturday breakfast but the last couple of visits have been a bit underwhelming. The service was super slow and while the food was still ok, it wasn't as good as it used to be. The Eggs Benedict for example was simply drowned in hollandaise, it was way too much. For these prices I'd expect better than average. It was easier to get a table than before, which was nice, but perhaps speaks to the declined quality.

Used to just have their soups which are different flavours every day and always utterly delicious. However today I got their chicken, feta, sweet potato and asparagus salad and it is honestly one of the best salads I have ever tasted. These guys have got it so right. Great service and prices too. This cafe/restaurant is one of my usual lunchtime takeaway haunts. The restaurant it self is lovely but pricey for an everyday lunch outing for me. I've had a salmon salad here and it was wonderful. But time and time again I always come back for their $5 soup of the day which comes with a bread roll. The soup changes from day to day and they now provide two soup options, one of which seems to be vegetarian. The soup is always tasty (i've only had one occasion where I disliked it but it was a personal preference), and seems to be made with real ingredients. The other thing I love about them is their salads. Again their salads are made with care, quality ingredients and lots of flavour. This is not your usual garden salad variety. The salads are more pricey but considering the ingredients that go into it, its worth it.
