Visited while staying in Hobart after researching where to find a good burger and I was not disappointed. Seriously I think this was possibly the best burger I've ever had. Bun was nice and soft, and the patty was cooked perfectly and with the melted cheese.. YUM! Not to mention the fries, I don't know how they do it but everything was excellent! Dining space is pretty cool, with a main dining room on the first floor, and a balcony on the top floor.

My partner came here twice during our stay in Hobart after reading great reviews. The first time we came was during the week where they were doing takeaways only, which wasn't what we planned on doing originally, but they were delicious anyway! The burgers were tasty and the the chips were amazing! We then went back on a Saturday night when they were doing dine-in, and the burgers were amazing yet again, and service was great. The place has a really cool atmosphere too. If you like burgers then you'll love this place!

Good food, good service, bang for the buck. Thunderbird is definitely the best burger they have. The KFC burger (korean fried chicken) was okay, if you’re a fan of kimchi dressing. I went during not so busy hours, probably wouldn’t find a table to sit if there was a rush though.

Found this place wandering while visiting Hobart. Quiet night but food was great. Chips a little on the crunchy side for me but still tasty. I got the double standard. Was really good. Patties were thin but would have been too much if there were thicker. Decent beers and softdrinks to wash it all down aswel. Would came back.

The atmosphere of the almost food stalling restaurant is quite unique with neon logos and coke in a glass bottle (always preferred). With no tables, we had to eat out on benches and the eating experience was a bit messy. The burger itself was satisfactory. Bun is toasted however lacked a bit of structure and kinda crumbled after a period of holding. The beef patty was well cooked, rare in the middle and juicy enough. Nothing of the budget particularly stood out to me, nor did anything would cause me to dislike it.

I had the double standard burger, which is their signature burger, and it was delicious!! The shakes were ok, but need improvement. The real let down for this place (and it may be a one time thing), but there is a strong odor of B.O. Whether it was the clientele or the venue itself, this place had an odor which had me change my order from eat in to take away. That being said, I would definitely go back! But instead call ahead and place my take away order.

Food was yummy but it took some time to be cooked. Also, my toddler needed freshening while we waited and I was very disappointed that they did not have an adequate space to change smaller children or those needing a bench (not the floor) to freshen. Staff were polite and helpful when it came to choosing from their selection. But price felt a bit much for what was provided.

Burgers are pretty tasty but the single beef patty on my burger was TINY! I knew it was thin but my tomato was legit thicker. Go for the double if you want to taste more of the meat. On the plus side, milkshakes are huge here!

It was a bright but breezy day today. Three tiers of seating available, pavement, mezzanine with old style arcade games or roof top with a variety of seating styles. Food as good as ever, pulled pork animal fries with copious amounts, if not a little heavy on the salt, of sauce. I would love if The Standard offered a snack plate of mixed sides

This place has an awesome vibe and the burgers are quite good. Unfortunately, the staff member forgot part of our order and we had to go back up and remind them 15-20 minutes later. Anyway, we chilled out and enjoyed watching The Matrix while we were there. It's not the best burger in Hobart (Stevo's Takeaway is #1), but it's certainly better than most.

The food is overpriced for what it is, for some of the food. The prices that you pay for some burgers you would expect a large burger, but instead it was just a regular sized burger with all the extras thrown in, the food was fine but value wise this place ain't the best. Many places to get a large burger but this place ain't it chief food is fine tho just poor value.

A fantastic return to form from The Standard. My burger tasted as flavourful as ever. The Standard does American Diner style burgers very well. Love the aesthetic they have gone for inside and out. The young lady that served me at lunchtime was very pleasant and polite. I could see things weren't going to plan in the kitchen, and my two burgers came out about 5 minutes apart. This is very excusable for a busy day so close to opening but I do hope it gets ironed out. Would be 5 stars but my onion rings were almost cold. Hope to be back soon and update my score!

I sat outside so I can't comment on the decor or seating inside. For large urban groups the outside seating is fine, though a little cramped. The food is well priced for the quantity and quality that you get, though the chicken burgers seem to have a greater volume than the beef burgers. The salad component of the beef burger that I had was good because it was just standard fare and allowed the patty to shine. The patty itself was well cooked and you could taste the grill, however it was a bit thin compared to nearby competitors (But priced accordingly so not a problem). The basic fries were fantastic in that you could taste the skin for that rustic style, hands down the best of any near by burger joint. Service was timely during a busy Sunday, especially as they use a buzzer system so you don't need to hang around the counter. Would recommend if you are after a good American style burger and great fries.

They won't take phone orders for pickups anymore. It's online only which adds 25% to the price. Wait times can tend to be long here which can be okay if you're not in a hurry. My thickshake was half melted but they were nice enough to make it fresh again right away when I asked. I used to really like the pastry cream pie things they used to do. Also chicken plopplers. Brokeback mountain burger (double cowboy...) is kind of my favourite, would probably be better with a thick patty than 2 regular ones though...

Absolutely magnificent burgers! We stopped in while walking around Hobart and were pleasantly suprised. The buns were perfect, they didn't detract from the actual burger at all. As for the burger, the combination of flavours was just right. The fries were also very well done, the seasoning wasn't too overbearing. To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable as well. I would recommend it to any looking for a burger joint in the Hobart CBD.

Great veg Burger, after inquiring about the ingredients in the patty, a staff member grabbed out the recipe book and disected the ingredients for me, I thought that was pretty rad. The veg burger was great, a traditional American style Burger, beautiful chips, awesome tunes, friendly staff and overhead 80's movie posters to kick in some nostalgic childhood memories. It's everything you want in a simple, tasty burger spot with cheap prices. Plus some more deluxe options on the extended menu that changes regularly and is also really well priced. GF bun or lettuce wrapped options for the glutards. The burgers are so good that I can't complain when my orders get stuffed up. I have to say I've never seen this happen to anybody else, just me hahaha. So don't worry, you'll be right!

I've been here a few times. It's very hit & Miss. It's a bit overpriced for what you get and the wait time is usually 15-25 minutes even when not busy. Latest visit wasn't great, Chicken was under cooked in the middle, chips were dry and cold. Giving it 3 stars only because the Double Cowboy I had previously was pretty good.

Descent enough burgers. But huge wait times. Every time I've come in it's 20 minutes wait atleast. Once I waited for 45 minutes. Was on a thrusday night wasn't overly busy. Still had free tables. On top of that they got my order wrong. Was offered a full refund and the correct burger.

Although there are benches to sit and eat, The Standard is very much a take away venue, something which is not immediately obvious from photos. It is literally a hole in the wall inside an alley and not easy to find from the map. That said the food is good value and very tasty. We had animal burgers and animal fries. The animal fries are big winners. However the burger buns were not toasted! Apart from the untoasted burger buns we were happy with the service and décor, although we elected to take away, rather than eat on the benches there.

The standard have obviously considered the three basic needs of humanity and have thus now provided shelter to customers. Combined with food, and oreo thickshakes, you would think that is everything required for a human to survive. This is now wrong. I'll tell you why. The standard has now introduced a new basic human requirement. that's right, they have basically re-written the laws of human survival. What is it that they insist every person need sin order to continue on in this existence? An obscene, gut wrenching, squealing door. This door is so amazing it deserves a review of its own. The first thing you will notice about the door is the sound. After that you will not notice anything for a matter of minutes as you are clutching your ears with this stupefied grin on your face turning to your friends and mouthing 'Did you hear that?' Your friends will nod back and say something but it is obliterated by the ringing echo that is bouncing around your inner skull. You loudly exclaim your own agreement to whatever they must have said. They laugh at your witty reply and slap their thighs. You chortle at that and decide to pull your hands form your ears so that you may touch the delicate wooden tables. Bad idea young one, because now another customer has managed to pry the door open, allowing a fresh icy gust of wind to whip around, blowing up serviettes (if they were given out) and steal the spirit of the stunned customers. That's right, you just got another unfiltered listen to the rapture of the keening door. The live music scene in Hobart has being suffering, but if you're hunting for somewhere to gain some permanent hearing loss - The Standard is the place. You will probably find yourself, after this, asking your friends if there was a man trapped in the roller mechanism who was screaming for help. I know we did. The burger was really good.
